Xiu Men (休门)
What it means
Xiu Men is located in the northern Kan Palace and is a highly auspicious door. It belongs to the Water element. It signifies the cold of frost and snow, pure Yin energy, and the realm of extreme Yin. Xiu Men is most favorable for accumulating wealth—cattle, horses, pigs, and sheep will come to you unbidden. Marriages and external affairs respond from the south. Official promotions lead to positions in the capital. Those with a Wood element will definitely gain property, and the household will enjoy lasting peace and prosperity.
Characteristics: Rest, recuperation, leisure, travel, carelessness, laziness. It represents regulation, adjustment, beauty treatments, and hairdressing. It also signifies death. Leisure venues, rest areas. Romantic interests (桃花), exposure. Xiu also relates to Water, so anything associated with water. Hibernation, retirees, marriages, seeking patronage, wine, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, rivers, lakes, seas, aquatic breeding, recreation, kidneys, blood, high fluidity, all fluid-based things, all liquids.
Understanding Xiu (休): Xiu can mean "repair" (修)—repairing, fixing; Xiu can also mean "shame" (羞)—when Xiu equals shame, it means shyness, timidity, or ceaseless chatter. Xiu Men can self-impede, and one must be especially careful not to rest with a partner during this time period, as it may lead to romantic entanglements and troubles.
