风水
Feng shui has traditionally divided into two approaches. The form school reads the shape of the land and the layout of buildings; the qi school takes a bearing with the compass and calculates from the cycles of periods and flying stars. They are not opposed, and most practitioners draw on both.
This is the second largest category after Yi studies. The material runs from early burial-siting theory to modern Xuan Kong works, and the vocabulary shifted considerably between periods: the same term can mean quite different things in two different books.
How to read this branch
Establish whether a book belongs to the form school or the qi school before working through its rules. Mixing the vocabulary of the two is the commonest source of misreading here.

Charting guides
- Flying Star Feng shui ChartA cast chart can go to AI reading. Feng shui divides traditionally into the form school and the compass school. This page covers the most widely practised method of the compass school, Xuan Kong Flying Star, which lays a period and a facing direction out across nine palaces. The procedure is fully determined and every step can be checked.
- Chinese AlmanacResults for a day can go to AI reading. Every column in a Chinese almanac is derived from a specific rule rather than chosen freely. This page explains where each one comes from, and what the suitable and unsuitable lists actually meant in their original context.
