曾點，曾參父，字子皙，疾時禮教不行，欲修之，孔子善焉．論語所謂浴乎沂，風平舞雩之下．

Zeng Dian, the father of Zeng Shen, styled Zixi, grieved that the ritual teaching of his time was not practiced and wished to repair it, and Confucius praised him. It is what the Analects calls bathing in the Yi River and enjoying the breeze at the Wuyu altar.

顏由，顏回父，字季路，孔子始教學於闕里而受學，少孔子六歲．

Yan You, father of Yan Hui, styled Jilu, studied with Confucius when he first began teaching at Queli, and was six years younger than Confucius.

商瞿，魯人，字子木，少孔子二十九歲．特好易，孔子傳之志焉．

Shang Ju, a man of Lu, styled Zimu, twenty-nine years younger than Confucius. He especially loved the Book of Changes, and Confucius passed his aim on to him.

漆雕開，蔡人，字子若，少孔子十一歲，習尚書，不樂仕．孔子曰：“子之齒可以仕矣，時將過．”子若報其書曰：“吾斯之未能信．”言未能明信此書意孔子悅焉．

Qidiao Kai, a man of Cai, styled Ziruo, eleven years younger than Confucius, studied the Book of Documents and did not delight in office. Confucius said: "You are old enough to take office, and the time is about to pass." Ziruo replied: "I cannot yet be confident of this." [This says he could not yet understand and be sure of the meaning of this book.] Confucius was pleased.

公良儒，陳人，字子正，賢而有勇．孔子周行，常以家車五乘從．

Gongliang Ru, a man of Chen, styled Zizheng, worthy and brave. When Confucius traveled around, he constantly followed with five carriages from his own household.

秦商，魯人，字不慈，少孔子四歲．其父菫父，父音甫與孔子父叔梁紇俱力聞．

Qin Shang, a man of Lu, styled Buci, four years younger than Confucius. His father Jinfu and Confucius's father Shuliang He were both known for strength.

顏刻，魯人，字子驕，少孔子五十歲．孔子適衛，子驕為僕，衛靈公與夫人南子同車出，而令宦者雍梁參乘，使孔子為次乘，遊過市，孔子恥之．顏刻曰：“夫子何恥之？”孔子曰：“詩云：‘覯爾新婚，以慰我心．’”慰安乃嘆曰：“吾未見好德如好色者也．”

Yan Ke, a man of Lu, styled Zijiao, fifty years younger than Confucius. When Confucius went to Wei, Zijiao was his driver. Duke Ling of Wei rode out in the same carriage with his wife Nanzi, but had the eunuch Yong Liang ride as guard and had Confucius ride in the second carriage, passing through the market streets, and Confucius felt ashamed. Yan Ke said: "Master, why do you feel ashamed?" Confucius said: "The Book of Songs says: 'Meeting you newly wed, it comforts my heart.' [Comfort means ease.]" Then he sighed and said: "I have never seen one who loves virtue as he loves beauty."

司馬黎耕，宋人，字子牛．牛為性躁，好言語，見兄桓魋行惡，牛常憂之．

Sima Ligeng, a man of Song, styled Ziniu. Niu was hasty by nature and liked to talk, and seeing his elder brother Huan Tui do evil, Niu was constantly troubled.

巫馬期，陳人，字子期，少孔子三十歲．孔子將近行，命從者皆持蓋，已而果雨．巫馬期問曰：“旦無云，既日出，而夫子命持雨具，敢問何以知之？”孔子曰：“昨暮月宿畢，詩不云乎：‘月離於畢俾滂沱矣．’以此知之．”

Wuma Qi, a man of Chen, styled Ziqi, thirty years younger than Confucius. When Confucius was about to set out, he ordered those following to take along canopies, and before long it indeed rained. Wuma Qi asked: "In the morning there was no cloud and the sun was already out, yet the Master ordered rain gear; may I ask how you knew?" Confucius said: "Last night the moon stayed in the Bi constellation; does the Book of Songs not say: 'When the moon is near Bi, the rain pours in torrents'? That is how I knew."

梁鱣，齊人，字叔魚，少孔子三十九歲．年三十未有子，欲出其妻．商瞿謂曰：“子未也，昔吾年三十八無子，吾母為吾更取室，夫子使吾之齊，母欲請留吾，夫子曰：‘無憂也，瞿過四十，當有五丈夫．’今果然，吾恐子自晚生耳，未必妻之過．”從之，二年而有子．

Liang Zhan, a man of Qi, styled Shuyu, thirty-nine years younger than Confucius. At thirty he still had no son and wanted to divorce his wife. Shang Ju said: "You are not yet at the time. Long ago, at thirty-eight I had no son, and my mother took another wife for me, and the Master sent me to Qi, and my mother wished to ask to keep me, but the Master said: 'There is no need to worry; after forty Ju will have five sons.' Now it has indeed happened. I fear that you simply have a late start, and it is not necessarily your wife's fault." He followed the advice, and in two years had a son.

琴牢，衛人，字子開，一字張．與宗魯友，聞宗魯死，欲？弔焉，孔子弗許，曰：“非義也．”

Qin Lao, a man of Wei, styled Zikai, also styled Zhang. He was a friend of Zong Lu, and on hearing that Zong Lu had died, he wanted (a character is missing in the source text) to go and offer condolences, but Confucius did not permit it, saying: "It is not in accord with righteousness."

冉儒，魯人，字子魚，少孔子五十歲．

Ran Ru, a man of Lu, style name Ziyu, fifty years younger than Confucius.

顏辛，魯人，字子柳，少孔子四十六歲．

Yan Xin, a man of Lu, style name Ziliu, forty-six years younger than Confucius.

伯虔，字楷，少孔子五十歲．

Bo Qian, style name Kai, fifty years younger than Confucius.

公孫寵，衛人，字子石，少孔子五十三歲．

Gongsun Chong, a man of Wei, style name Zishi, fifty-three years younger than Confucius.

曹？，少孔子五十歲．

陳亢，陳人，字子亢，一字子禽，少孔子四十歲．

Chen Kang, a man of Chen, style name Zikang, also styled Ziqin, forty years younger than Confucius.

叔仲會，魯人，字子期，少孔子五十歲，與孔琁年相比，每孺子之執筆記事於夫子，二人迭侍左右．孟武伯見孔子而問曰：“此二孺子之幼也，於學豈能識於壯哉？”孔子曰：“然少成則若性也，習慣若自然也．”

Shuzhong Hui, a man of Lu, style name Ziqi, fifty years younger than Confucius and close in age to Kong Xuan. Whenever a boy took up the brush to record the Master's affairs, the two took turns attending at his side. Meng Wubo saw Confucius and asked: "These two boys are so young; in learning, will they still remember it when grown?" Confucius said: "So it is: what is formed in youth is like nature, and what becomes habit is like what is natural."

Qin Zu, style name Zinan.

奚蒧，字子偕．

Xi Rui, style name Zixie.

公祖茲，字子之．

Gongzu Zi, style name Zizhi.

廉潔，字子曹．

Lian Jie, style name Zicao.
