The seventh section is about the Ghost of the Room.
Charting guides: Liu Yao Divination Chart, Da Yan Yarrow Stalk Divination
"The Shi Fire Pig" and "Gui Metal Sheep" belong to the categories of pig and sheep, which are gentle but fear knives, chopping blocks, tigers, and leopards. The Pig is associated with fire and should be in the Li palace; the Sheep star is located in the Qian position. Those with long lifespans are in the four remote palaces (Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei, paired with Jia and Yi, their fate is long-lived); those with short lifespans are in the eight harmful places (Gengshen, Xinyou). Sheep meeting Si and Hai bring great wealth (Bingyin, Ji Xu, and the寅 position); Pigs meeting dragons in the rivers and lakes bring great honor (Guihai transforms into Pig and Dragon). When the Yi and Xin heavenly stems are paired, they are people who are punished and exiled (Yi and Xin are located above the two shrines). When Bingyin meets, they are military and civil officials (Bingyin meets and indicates military and civil positions).
When the Heavenly Granary is prosperous and strong, it indicates the potential for honor and wealth (Yiyou is the Heavenly Granary, indicating a wealthy and prosperous destiny); when the earthly advantages are complete, one naturally attains noble status (Yichou and Yiwei). Breaking the禄 (fate of wealth) is Gengshen (excess metal leads to poverty and isolation); gaining wealth and riches is associated with Jia and Yi (excess Jia and Yi indicates refined and prosperous fortune). Seeing wolves and tigers together with the Ox mansion can instead remove difficulties (seeing Wuxu and Jiaxu, if Xinchou is present, there is no fear); encountering tigers and leopards together with the 'Well Wood Dog' can instead bring wealth (Bingyin and RENYIN, if Yiwei is present, there is no disaster). Excess metal and water leads to indulgence in pleasures without affection (excess metal and water indicates indulgence in alcohol and lust); when wood and metal are mixed, one becomes greedy for wealth and never satisfied (excess wood and metal indicates greed for wealth and insatiable desire). When the three palaces are lost and disasters occur, life is short and achievements are meager (excess fire destroys life); when among the five elements, the metal energy is deficient, there are constant misfortunes and a life of toil (excess metal leads to sudden death).
The Eighth Divination: The Wall and the Beast
"The Bi Water Leopard" group belongs to the category of Leopards, and it is suitable for lakes, wild areas, and sandy shores. It most fears encountering a knife and anvil. The stems Jia and Yi are its flourishing and suitable places for seclusion, while the stems Geng and Xin are its prosperous and favorable regions. Encountering metal leads to the door of illness and misfortune (Bingshen, Dingyou); excessive earth results in being lonely and poor (Bingxu, Dingwei). If it borrows the power of the tiger and has water, it forms a rare transformation into a dragon. If there is no Ren and few Gui, and during hardship it encounters "Zhen Water Worm" and "Yi Fire Snake," it is most afraid of encountering Geng and Xin. Among the creatures of the category, there are three platforms that can borrow power, and if the time star meets Yimao (the qi and transformation of Yimao form a shape, and with water it brings honor). A lion occupying the eight positions and residing in heaven is when the day star carries Renshen (transformed into a lion). The flourishing and strong of Wu and Ji are insufficient places, while the flourishing and strong of Bing and Ding are positions that break official salary. For female fate, there are many instances of Xinchou; for male fate, those with few sons have Bing fire first appearing in the monthly star (those with many Bingzi have this).
The ninth of the stars娄and昴.
"The娄金狗" and "昴日鸡" belong to the categories of dog and chicken; one guards the gate, and the other crowns at dawn.娄 and昴 share the same gate, and when encountering the Ox mansion (辛丑), they show prosperity. For those with accumulated Jia wood, the mountains and forests are insufficient; for those with refined Yi wood, the harvest is abundant and successful (Yi亥 without Xin metal, great wealth). Those with prosperous and strong gate guardians are wealthy and luxurious (Yi酉, Yi卯, Jia子, Jia午); those who are devoured are lonely and destitute (Bing寅, Ren寅, Jia戌, Wu戌). Renshen and Renzi are the reasons for the dog receiving transformation; Geng戌 and Jia寅 are the foundation for the chicken receiving food. In places of coarse food, additional clothing and sustenance are added (Yi未 is an example); in kitchens, wealth is difficult to accumulate (because pigs come to take the food).
Seeing tigers and leopards but encountering the dragon above, one can overcome and win (seeing tigers and leopards with Gengchen, reverse victory); encountering jackals and wolves but seeing a horse, indicates many official positions (with Bingwu, even more abundant). A dog wandering on the Black Path, a rooster calling in the bright direction (Renzi is the Black Path, Bingwu is the bright direction). A short and squat body indicates earth born at its decline (earth in the Chen palace); a head leaning to one side indicates wood damaged (Jiashen, Yiwei). A rooster meeting Geng and Xin indicates children's decline (Gengchen, Xinyou are the cases); a dog meeting Wu and Ji indicates prosperity for males, but females go against it. Jiashen transforms into an arrow, but there is no place to place the bow and arrow; Dingmao needs to be cautious. Roosters with strong fire tend to have blind eyes, dogs with fire burned have fits of wind epilepsy (Jiashen, Yiwei).
The Tenth Chapter: The Stomach and the Constellation of the End
"The 'Stomach Earth Chicken' and 'Bì Moon Bird' belong to the category of chickens and birds, both being flying creatures that enjoy flowers, trees, and thickets. Their desires are fulfilled when encountering Jia or Yi, which create a situation of willow branches and floral shadows. They thrive when flying over Wu or Ji, achieving complete joy. When encountering Bing or Ding, they transform into the image of the Golden Bird; when encountering Gengchen, they become a symbol of the Crimson Phoenix. In spring when wood is flourishing, like the慈乌 returning to feed its parents (seen in spring and summer with trees, symbolizing filial piety), and when picking flowers with both male and female birds flying together (Jiachen and Yisi indicate a transformation to nobility). When the path is wide, they gain wealth from outside areas (Zi, Wu, Mao, and You represent paths, indicating gains from other regions). When the entrance is complex, they enjoy the blessings of others (multiple entrances indicate living in someone else's home)."
In theWu Palace, if water is present and 甲 and 乙 are strong, the ancestral fortune is abundant. If there is a single main element with overlapping doors, it indicates a son from a secondary wife (overlapping doors signify a庶出 son). If 庚 and 辛 are not destroyed, wealth will accumulate greatly by autumn (this applies to 戊辰, 己巳, 己酉; if there are 甲 and 乙 but no metal, it is the case). If 丙 and 丁 are heavily damaged, poverty will result during summer. Illness should be found in the doors of the month and day that are incomplete. If 丙 and 丁 are encountered, the limbs will be broad. If the element is transformed, it shows the image of wind dancing and flying (this applies to 甲辰 and 乙巳 with food god as a valuable sign). If the element is encountered, the wings will spread and grow long (same as above; if 「毕月乌」 falls on 乙酉 or 丁丑, it will cause harm to three wives).
The Twelfth Section: Zi and Shen
The group "mouth fire monkey" and "participate water ape" refers to monkeys and apes that depend on flowers and fruits for food. Where there are many flowers, it is difficult to have good hair; where there are abundant fruits, they can eat well. Those that carry flowers and can eat fruits are strongest in Gengwu. Those who carry metal around their waist and encounter mountains in rocky valleys are also good. Those with Gengshen in a prosperous and strong state have long beards and walk on red shoes (Wuyin, Gengshen). Those who appear in areas with sudden winds and turbulent waves are good at singing (see Renshen, Jiachen for good singing). Those who appear where flowers fall and gold is hidden also tend to sing a lot (Bingshen, Dingyou). Those with overlapping doors and windows are servants and lower class people; those with prosperous and strong states in rivers and seas are travelers living away from home. Those with many Bing and Ding are faced with difficulties in obtaining fruits (if there are also Ji and Yi along with Bing and Ding). Those with repeated Geng and Xin suffer from injuries and have difficulty accumulating wealth (too much metal with Ji and Yi). Deafness is due to the conflict between water and earth (because both water and earth are abundant). Illness is caused by the meeting of Bing and Geng (those with many Bing and Geng are prone to illness). When flowers decline and meet the Wu palace, there is little success (see Jiawu, Yisi, etc., which result in a life of repeated setbacks).
Willow Zhang, the Twelfth
"The 'Willow Earth獐' and 'Zhang Moon Deer' group belongs to the category of獐 and鹿, preferring grasslands and hills. Jia and Yi wood dislike encountering 'Ji Water Leopard'. Wu and Ji earth fear meeting 'Kui Wood Wolf' and 'Liu Metal Dog'. Those falling in Jiachen and Yisi bring a carefree and joyful state, while those in Wuchen and Jisi bring calm and leisurely ease. When the Li palace is occupied by Bing and Ding fire, Zhang Host is called the Bright Direction; when Hai position meets Ren and Gui water, the Deer encounters an obscure path. The獐 in the heavenly court is located in the Three Platforms; the Deer in the grassland is known as a First-Class official. If the year and month stars are strong, the ancestors' wealth is abundant; if the day and hour stars are refined, personal benefits are obtained. When Gui water is activated, it reaches everywhere; when Wu earth is strong and prosperous, it moves across hills and ridges. If the year and month are strong, the early years are laborious; if the day and hour are flourishing, the middle years achieve success."
Thirteenth: Wing and Zhěn
"The Winged Fire Snake" and "Zhen Water Worm" belong to the category of snakes and worms, and with the position of Chen they can transform into dragons. Those with Jia and Yi receive much protection and achieve great honor. If the day star is located on Yang Water, one can ascend to heaven (Ren Zi and Ren Wu, with Yi Wood being especially auspicious); if the hour star is located on strong Metal, one will be grounded (Geng Shen and Xin You). The concern is encountering "Wei Earth Rooster" and "Mao Sun Chicken," and the fear is meeting pigs and yu. Sitting at Ji Shen leads to poverty and early death (under the axe and hoe); meeting Bing Yin results in losing ancestral property at a young age. If one resides in the courtyard and suddenly clouds and rain arise, one will attain high official rank up to the Three Dukes (Yi Mao with water, as well as Geng Xu and Xin Hai). If in the field of grain crops a dragon is formed, one will be promoted to the Six Ministries (Jia Yin, Yi Mao, Geng Chen, Ren Chen, Jia Chen). If one combines with Wu Ji, the palace position will not last long (with Wu Ji but without Ren Gui, one cannot hold office for long). If one combines with Bing Ding, monks and Taoists will have to resign (with Bing Ding burning their dwelling, monks and Taoists cannot hold their posts for long).

Begin the twelve life palace animals.
The twelve life domains each have an associated animal ruler, and their calculation methods depend on the principles of generation and overcoming. For example, in the domain of wealth, the starting point is to take the animal that is overcome by the fetal animal, place it on the Zi (Rat) position, and proceed in order until reaching the wealth domain; the domains of spouse and servants are calculated in the same way. For the four domains of migration, official rank, fortune virtue, and appearance, one takes the animal preceding the fetal animal, and proceeds in reverse order based on the relationship of being generated by the fetal animal's host until reaching the respective domain. Each domain follows the same method.
The Brothers' Palace takes the next host and the胎 host that are harmonious, adds them to the子宫 host, and pushes them forward to the Brothers' Palace, also using retrograde movement. The Health and Illness Palace takes the host that is overcome by the animal of the previous host, adds it to theZi Palace host, and pushes it forward to the Health and Illness Palace, following the same method. In general, the胎 host is always the main reference. As for the main stars encountered on a daily basis, they all belong to the twenty-eight hosts; only the Sun host and the Moon host are special: the Sun host is considered as Fire, the Moon host as Water, and the other hosts follow their own Five Phases. The Field and House Palace and the Male and Female Palace take the next host generated by the胎 host, add it to theZi Palace host, and push it forward to their respective palaces, both following the same method and using retrograde movement.

The Mirror Form Assignment (taking its meaning from the idea of seeing one's form in a mirror)
Heaven, Earth, and Humanity each occupy their proper position, and through the Five Phases, all things are generated. (The term "San Cai" refers to Heaven, Earth, and Humanity. "Dian Wei" means that the transcendent is Heaven, the material is Earth, and Humanity, receiving the mandate from Heaven and Earth, is in the middle. Before Heaven and Earth were separated, there was already the true water of primordial oneness. Water generates wood, wood generates fire, fire generates earth, earth generates metal, and they mutually generate in succession, continuously transforming, thus generating all things.)
Human beings are the most spiritually endowed among all living things. The study of star and animal divination is based on principles given by heaven, yet its subtle aspects can still be calculated through numerical patterns and methods. (A "category" refers to a class or rank, and "collection" refers to a group or type. Human beings are the most spiritually endowed among all things because they receive the righteous qi of yin and yang and thus are endowed with life. Now, the study of animal divination is merely about interpreting fate and resolving doubts. However, although fate is given by heaven, it ultimately cannot escape the calculations of numerology and can be determined to judge fortune and misfortune.)
Therefore, Yan Hui was benevolent, kind, and devoted to learning, yet he died young. While Dou Zhi was fierce and wicked, he lived a long and vigorous life. Yan Hui, whose given name was Y渊, was the second sage among Confucius' disciples. He lived contentedly with a single basket of rice and a single gourd of water, and his learning approached that of a sage. He could maintain virtue for three months without deviation, yet he died at the age of thirty-two. Given Yan Hui's benevolence and dedication to learning, he should have lived a long life and pursued the great way. Why did he die young? Is it not determined by fate? Dou Zhi, also known as Zhan Xiong, had his fief in Liuxia, hence his name Liuxia Zhi. During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, he roamed through eighteen states, being fierce and invincible, and lived to be ninety-two years old. Given Zhan Xiong's wickedness, he should have died young, yet he lived to an old age. Thus, the role of fate is evident, and there is nothing to question further.
Lu Ji, at the age of six, was able to bring oranges from a visit, while Liang Hao did not become the top scholar until he was eighty-two. (Lu Ji, whose name was Gongji, was from Wu. At six years old, he went to Jiujiang to visit Yuan Shu. Yuan Shu offered oranges, and Lu Ji secretly took three in his pocket. When he was about to leave and bowed, the oranges fell to the ground. Yuan Shu said, "Lu boy, you are visiting, why do you still have oranges in your pocket?" Lu Ji replied, "I bring them home to honor my mother." Yuan Shu was greatly surprised. Liang Hao took the imperial examination during the Tianfu third year of the reign of the High Ancestor of the Later Jin Dynasty, but was not listed until the second year of Yongxi under Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty.)
This shows that one's prosperity or adversity, longevity or early death, is already determined. Although a person's fate is based on a single pattern, its principles must be considered in relation to the three periods. (By 'poverty,' it is meant that the major and minor years, as well as the great and small cycles, cannot transform successfully, or that they fall into dead or exhausted positions, or that they encounter situations of being devoured or harmed in form.)
If one encounters sudden death from lightning, tiger bites, drowning, or hanging corpses, or becomes addicted to alcohol, sex, and drugs, one must understand the principles of peace and tranquility; as for falling into the world of vice and debauchery, one must clearly distinguish between prosperous and strong, weak and confined. If the dragon's palace falls in the wilderness and the person is born in summer, with no壬癸亥子 in the four pillars to assist, or if the destiny moves into dry and barren or negative and oppressive evils, and the current year meets乙卯 or庚午, the person will certainly die from lightning—this is because the dragon lacks water and meets fire and thunder, thus being harmed by lightning. If the pig, sheep, dog, or ox's palace falls in mountains and forests, and the person is born in autumn or winter at night, with no salvation in the four pillars, and if the meteor and small limit meet tigers and leopards, the person will certainly die from violence—gentle animals entering the forest of fierce beasts have nowhere to escape. If the well wood dog's palace falls in the wilderness, and the large and small limits are tigers and leopards, and the person is born at night in spring, this is called obtaining food; but if the person develops evil intentions and becomes a fox, and is in theYiwei palace or in the palace it falls into, it will certainly lead to suicide by hanging.
The destiny of "Ghost Metal Sheep" shows signs of being pursued by dogs and wolves, and with the flow of the year being Renzi or Guihai, it is certain to die by drowning in the river. The sheep inherently fears dogs and wolves, and falling into water further leaves no place to escape. Animals like monkeys, foxes, hedgehogs, deer, swallows, and bats, when found in places such as flower caves, willow walls, singing stages, and dancing pavilions, especially if born on a spring night, will lead to men being licentious and women being disorderly. Even if they do not fall into the ranks of the fallen, they will always be associated with the time of flowers and moons. This is because these animals naturally enjoy playing and wandering, and they are further influenced by the realm of sounds and colors. Animals like monkeys, horses, and deer, when their positions are in mountain forests and they are in weak and confined conditions, and without food andofficial stipend, and their four pillars are further afflicted by broken ancestors, empty loss, net traps, and lonely orphans, these people are mostly close to Daoist practices and seek a quiet and secluded life. Among these points, the most important is to understand the prosperity, strength, weakness, and confinement of the heavenly stems and earthly branches, as well as the gains and losses of the four seasons, so that the fortune and misfortune will be clear.
What is favored is the strong and prominent position of the stars, while what is to be avoided is the devouring and punishment. The confused see a thousand paths and hundred trails before them, while the enlightened understand one path and thus comprehend all. (By "垣庙," we mean the path of transformation; by "吞啖刑害," we mean the devouring like tigers and leopards eating pigs and sheep. The confused only see two limits: the longevity star and the meteor star, and are at a loss. Others take the first bird as the main star and the second as the fetal star, while some apply the method of Zi Ping to calculate, dividing three days of each season into one limit and one year into one fortune. But they do not realize that the method of Yanyin is based on the number of the Five Phases of the main star to determine the fortune in a certain palace. To calculate in such a haphazard way, how can one verify the fortune of wealth, nobility, misfortune, or blessing?)
Originally, the dragon leaping in the southeast waves and surging waves can establish immortal achievements for generations. (East and South correspond to Jiachen and Yimao. Jiachen is the dragon's domain, and Yimao is the gate of thunder. If further supported by birth in spring and summer, and if the pillar contains characters like Ren, Gui, Zi, or Hai, then it is the fate of a ruler who establishes a foundation and passes it on to future generations; even if not, it is the fate of a prince, marquis, chancellor, or noble with great merit.) The tiger and leopard hiding in the northwest can bring peace and unity to the world. (Northwest corresponds to Gengxu and Xinhai, which form the heavenly gate and the hall of music. If the tiger and leopard are in this palace and the person is born in autumn or winter, then it is the fate of a person of high status who holds power and authority.)
Those who attract misfortune and injury are foxes and badgers, which are unsuitable to reside in the positions of Zi and Wu. (Wuzi and Wuwu are traps, while Gengwu is a roundabout. If foxes and badgers fall into the four outer palaces and are born in autumn or winter, and if the year or destiny also encounters these transformations, they will certainly suffer sudden misfortune and death—foxes and badgers are hidden birds, already losing their suitability during the day, and if they enter traps or roundabouts, there is no way to escape.) Those who experience fear and terror are dragons that are unfavorable in the positions of Yin and Shen. (Jiayin transforms into wooden dragons, Bingyin is a fighting tiger, Wuyin is a worm evil, Wushen is a burdened tortoise evil, and Gengshen is a confinement evil. These transformations are all the worst places for dragons, regardless of the season, leading to a life of hardship and isolation.)
When the wood energy wanes, the branches and leaves wither, so tigers and leopards are not suitable in spring and summer. (所谓 wood waning refers to cases like Dingmao and Xinmao, where the forest is withered. Tigers and leopards in this palace lack strength in spring and summer, relying on the forest for shelter; if they encounter a withered forest, they become homeless and displaced.) Sword-edged metal meeting the knife and anvil, pigs, leopards, cattle, and sheep should beware of those born in February and August. (Sword-edged metal and knife anvil refer to Renshen, Guiyou, Gengshen, and Xinyou. February and August are times of worship, and these four animals in these palace positions, if born at the子 hour of these months, will meet a violent and evil end—worship involves slaughtering pigs, cattle, and sheep, which is most inauspicious.)
Mountain below fire meets the burning grave, and crows, pheasants, monkeys and apes should avoid being born in June or July. (Mountain below fire refers to Bing Shen and Ding You, also called fire light evil. The burning grave refers to Ding Chou, Bing Yin, Ding Mao, Bing Chen, and Ding Wei. If these four animals are born at night, they will mostly leave their homeland, unable to maintain their ancestral property; if during the current year's small limit these palace positions appear again, it indicates wandering and losing their place.) Pigs with the suspended needle evil will suffer disfigurement, leading to poverty and difficulty in sustaining themselves. (The suspended needle refers to Ding Wei. Pigs and sheep encountering this will suffer physical disfigurement and live a lonely and impoverished life.)
A horse encountering the position of Jiachen (甲辰) gains growth, and blessings and authority shine together. (攀鞍 refers to Jiachen. When a horse is in this position, it transforms into a thousand-mile horse, joyful and able to ride a high-ranking carriage.) A sheep moving to its flourishing position, if further confronted by a clash with its blade, will inevitably lead to a sudden and evil death. (The flourishing position is Xinwei (辛未), the native temple of the sheep; Gengshen (庚申) and Xinyou (辛酉) are the blades, and Yiyou (乙酉) is the killer. When a sheep reaches Xinwei, if the small limit or a meteor strikes the blade or killer, it indicates an untimely death—although the native temple is flourishing, encountering the blade is like a sheep entering a slaughterhouse.)
A wild boar arrives at the Black Path, and if there is another intersection with the net of the Earthly Branches, it is customary for the person to commit theft and die in prison. (The Black Path refers to Ren and Gui. The Earthly Net is Jiachen and Yisi. If this occurs in autumn and the night is born in autumn, and the small limit of the star is also in this net, the person will inevitably become a thief and eventually die in prison.) The Heart Mansion is strong in autumn, indicating a person who is a stranger in a foreign land. (Autumn refers to Yiyou and Guiyou. The fox transforms into a jade rabbit here, which is favorable for business and travel.)
The Room mansion (Fang Ri Tu) born in summer month is a soldier among the willow camp and elm pass. (The rabbit is born in summer month and not in its proper season, with a low status, mostly being a soldier or a servant.) If there are horses and deer of great fortune close by, they must be distinguished guests dressed in red clothes. (The horse falling on Yichou transforms into the zhouyu, and falling on Bingchen transforms into the qilin; the deer falling on Jiayin transforms into the lion, and falling on Jiachen transforms into the qilin. If the fetal star and the destiny star have these two, they must be officials of high rank, wearing a golden belt and dressed in purple robes.)
When the Heavenly Stems Jia and Yi fall on the命宫, it is destined to be a person of the profession of divination and ritual. (If the palace falls on the ten heavenly stems' empty positions or the broken ancestor's empty position, it is mostly a person engaged in the practices of diviners and temple officials — since empty positions have no support, they can only serve ghosts and spirits.) When the Tiger enters theHai Palace, the situation becomes dark and unclear, leading to harm to children. (Dinghai is the pig's dwelling, Guihai is the tiger's temple. If the small limits of the pig and tiger and the meteor encounter the Tiger and Leopard, it will certainly cause harm to children.)
A deer running to the tiger's territory and showing fear will certainly harm the parents. (When the small limit of a deer or a meteor appears in the Bingyin or Renyin palace, or when the animal is a tiger or leopard, it will certainly injure the parents.) If a dragon is in the tiger's palace, both people and wealth will be lost. (When the dragon's destiny period or a meteor reaches Bingyin, or when encountering tigers and leopards, this is called 'dragon and tiger fighting.' Those born in spring and summer have the dragon in season and will win, but still face disturbances and unrest; those born in autumn and winter have the tiger in season and will suffer minor losses of wealth, or worse, injury to the body.)
The leopard resides in the position of Wei, and the six domestic animals flee. (Yiwei is the palace of Jingmu'an, which tiger and leopard fear. If the small limit or a meteor is in this position, minor cases may result in the death of livestock, while severe cases may bring unexpected and unpredictable disasters.) Swallows entering the red gate indicate a position involving travel and official duties. (The red gate refers to Dingmao and Dingyou. Swallows born in spring and summer and falling into a favorable palace position, when the fortune and time limit reach this position, those with official positions will certainly receive promotion and rewards, and those without official salary will also have abundant wealth and official position.)
The bird flying on the back of the dragon will surely gain authority in fame and fortune. (When Jiachen transforms into a great鹏, Wuchen transforms into a horned hawk, and Gengchen transforms into a golden phoenix, if the bird falls into these palaces or if the fortune or time period reaches these positions, gentlemen will attain official positions, and common people will gain wealth.) When the horse and the dog meet in the palace of Taibai, one will achieve prosperity throughout life. (Taibai is Jiwei. If the main star 'Star Mansion Horse', the body and destiny star, or 'Lou Jin Gou' (Dog of the Lou) are all located in this palace, and if one is born in winter, Jiwei transforms into a horned eagle. In winter, the eagle hunts, and the eagle and dog support each other to form power and authority. Wealth brings great fame, and nobility brings dominance over all officials.)
Dragons, tigers, jiao, and snakes gathering in the Queen Mother's Hall signify the appearance of great talents and opportunities. (The Queen Mother's Hall corresponds to Jiawu. When a dragon falls into this palace, it is called 'Dragon Cold Moon Hall'; when a tiger falls into this palace, it transforms into a lion. When these two stars are together, it is called the meeting of风云 (wind and clouds), indicating great wealth and status.) Foxes in the position of Gengshen are uncertain and fearful; once there is any injury, they will die suddenly. (Gengshen corresponds to the position of Shen, which transforms into a heavenly array and also into a snare. Gengxu represents a hunting dog. Moreover, if born in winter, with the destiny of a falling star at this position, they will certainly die suddenly due to legal punishment.)
The "Kui Mu Lang" fears the寅 (Bingyin) territory; if it also meets 丙 (Bing), poverty and hardship will surely follow. (寅 is the territory of tigers and leopards, and 丙戌 is a fire pit. When the wolf is in this palace and the person's fortune moves to this place, he will be extremely poor. ) A dragon in dry water delights in encountering a deep abyss. (Dingchou, Bingyin, Dingsi, Dingwei, and Dingyou are all dry and parched territories. If the palace falls into these patterns, it is unfavorable throughout life, with continuous difficulties; only when the fortune reaches Renzi, Renchen, Guiyou, Renxu, and Guihai, which are water territories, will success be seen.)
The bird and the pheasant that have been wounded by bows and arrows will also take flight upon seeing bent trees. (Jiashen and Bingxu represent bows and arrows. If the bird or pheasant falls into this palace, it indicates a life of hardship and constant fear; if during a major period, Jiachen, Yiwei, or Jiaxu appear again, this is called curved wood, resembling bows and crossbows. Although there may be transformation, it still brings fear and anxiety.) A fox entering a tiger's group suffers bodily injuries due to suspicion. (The tiger's group refers to Bingyin and RENYIN. Foxes are naturally suspicious. If they are born in autumn or winter and move into this palace, or if the small limit of a meteor appears, disaster is certain; if they are born during the day, the situation is somewhat better.)
A rabbit encountering an eagle's nest leads to a fate of self-inflicted death, due to excessive cunning. (The rabbit fears the eagle and the dog. If it falls into the field palace, and is born in autumn, with the influence of the star during its destiny period, it will result in self-inflicted death.) Monkeys and apes in the same palace as the body and life stars are entangled in the pleasures of Wushan clouds and rain. (Monkeys and apes are playful animals. If the body and life stars are in the same palace as these two stars, and they are in the Black Path area related to pleasure and indulgence, the person will indulge in wine and women throughout their life, like King Xiang of Chu's obsession with the divine woman. For women, this indicates a life as a prostitute.)
The chicken and the pheasant, both yang birds, when their destiny and fetal stars are in the same palace, indicate a mind filled with thoughts of the winds and dust of Xiangpu. If they fall into the positions of Bingyin, Guimao, Jiwei, Bingchen, or Dingyou, it signifies separation between husband and wife, like the constant parting and reunion of Yao's two daughters married to Shun. The sheep, with the sentiment of kneeling to nurse and repaying kindness, should still be cautious of tigers and leopards. The young sheep kneels to drink its mother's milk, showing filial piety; yet it fears tigers and leopards.
The "Well Wood Dog" is characterized by deceit and is especially afraid of raccoon dogs and foxes. (The nature of the Dog is often deceitful and tends to travel with tigers and leopards; when it is angry, it even eats them. However, it is most afraid of foxes, raccoon dogs, and cats.) The "Tail Fire Tiger" should be cautious of repeated deceit, as it may lead to death away from home on a drifting boat. (Jiwei is the Dog's palace, and the tiger fears this palace; if the destiny, years, or life cycle again meet Yiwei, it indicates death away from home. Why? Because Wei is the land of the four directions, and the tiger loses its mountain and forest support.)
The "Bi Yue Wu" divination suggests that if a double eagle is seen, common injuries are likely to occur on the spine, legs, and thighs. (Jiwei is the angle eagle. If this position falls into the palace, and if it coincides with the age or year, it indicates tumors, broken legs, and disability. Why does the crow (Wu) meet the eagle (Ji) and suffer harm? Because both are flying creatures; competition among similar beings leads to mutual harm.) The dragon gains power through wind and clouds, attaining a position of rain and dew, and becomes a person as clear and upright as a magical ginkgo tree, living a long and prosperous life. (Renchen, Guisi, and Renzi are cloud and water; Jiachen and Yisi are wind. If the dragon falls into these palace positions and occurs during spring and summer, the person will achieve wealth and honor, have a prominent reputation, and be generous and charitable.)
A rat entering the Heavenly Granary along the Black Path indicates that there are descendants who can achieve fame and renown. (The Black Path and Heavenly Granary refer to Renzi, Guiwei, Guiyou, and Renshen. The rat is capable of gathering food and has plans for storage, hence the descendants will be prosperous. The original text mistakenly wrote 'person' instead of 'enter,' and this is recorded as is.) Deep forests where leopards hide are favorable for people with a wood destiny, especially in winter. (Yimao represents the dense forest. When winter comes, the leopard is at its most powerful, able to transform into a tiger through mist, which is most favorable for those with a wood destiny.)
The mountains are lush and dense, with tigers leaping among them; people with earth destiny benefit from encountering autumn nights. (Jia Yin is the main mountain, and "yù" means flourishing. When autumn comes, the tiger gains strength; people born at night with earth destiny are destined to hold authority.) A snake transforming into a dragon, encountering the wind and thunder of Yihai, can achieve great military achievements. (When a snake is in the palace of Renchen, and the person's fortune moves to Guisi or Guihai, and they are born in spring or summer, and the year of birth coincides with Yimao or Guimao, this is called wind and thunder assistance. Such people can easily attain fame and success, shaking the heavens and earth; they will be wealthy, accumulating thousands of strings of coins, piling up gold and jade.)
The constellation Jingmu An transforms into a whale, entering the rivers and seas of Yin and Chen, thereby possessing great strength. (Yisi transforms into a whale. When the great movement reaches Bingyin, Gengyin, Jiachen, Gengchen, and Renchen, and the sovereign year coincides again with Renzi, Renwu, Renxu, and Guihai, it indicates a display of authority and renown, shaking the whole realm of Huaxia and Yidi.) The constellation Doumu Xie and Niu Jin Niu face the earthly palace, and if born at night, they will be prosperous and noble. (The earthly palace refers to Yichou, which is the native temple of Xie. Niu falls into this palace and transforms into Xiezhizhi, referring here to the ruling star and the life star. The constellations Dou and Niu are in the same palace; if born in autumn night, wealth will be refined and noble status will be secure and prosperous.)
The couple "Niu Jin Niu" and "Nu Tu Fu" meet at the Star Bridge and are born at night, bringing honor and celebration to the couple. (The Star Bridge refers to Jiazi, Bingzi, Wuzi, Renxu, and Xinhai. Niu and Nu are in these palace positions, and if they are born in the first ten days of the seventh lunar month at night, it signifies the husband's honor and the wife's high status—this is in harmony with the meaning of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl meeting at the Magpie Bridge on the seventh night of the seventh lunar month.) Thunder resounds throughout the universe, and the golden dragon leaps at the Thunder Gate. (The universe refers to Xinmao. Dragons are born in spring, and their movement is associated with Xinmao. If the Tai Sui (celestial stem) also appears with Yimao or Guimao in the same year, that year will bring sudden success, and the person will achieve a high rank in the imperial examination.)
The sun illuminates Heaven and Earth, and the crow soars upward from the sun's palace. (Heaven and Earth refer to Bingwu, which is the central position of the heavens and earth; the sun's palace refers to Jiawu. The crow falling into this palace transforms into a red phoenix facing the rising sun; those born on a autumn day are capable of harmonizing the state's affairs and bestowing benefits upon the people.) However, the crow faces dangers from being shot by bows and arrows and eagles. Should the pheasant not be suspicious? (Bingshen, Bingxu, and Gengwu represent bows and arrows, Guimao represents hidden shots, Jiwei represents the horned eagle, and Xinwei represents the golden eagle. Both the crow and the pheasant born in autumn and winter during daylight should be cautious.)
Deer have worries of offending the tiger, and the elk is also afraid. (Yiwei represents the犴, and Bingyin represents the tiger. Deer and elk should not be in these two positions, or if they appear with a meteor, it is also unfavorable; only those born in spring during the day are not subject to this taboo.) The white tiger roars and a sudden west wind arises, leading to success in high academic ranks early in life. (The white tiger represents the western direction, and Gengshen is the essence of metal. If the position is strong and the person is born in autumn or winter at night, and during their fate or life span they encounter Gengshen as a meteor, they will certainly achieve great success.)
The Azure Dragon rises and the northern sea surges, allowing one to achieve the top rank in the imperial examination at a young age. (The Azure Dragon represents the eastern wood element, while the northern sea corresponds to Renzi and Guihai. A dragon is originally from the vast sea; with water it can rise and ascend. With the aid of wind and thunder, how could one fail to prosper?) If the貉 and兔 meet the豹 and犬, they can only sit with folded legs and sigh in despair. (Gengyin is the豹, and Gengxu is the犬. The貉 and兔 stars are both creatures with spirit, belonging to the category of hidden birds. If their palace positions fall in the areas of豹 and犬, the person will be lonely, poor, and restless.)
Pigs and sheep, if they encounter the knife and chopping block, can only endure hunger and await death. (The knife and chopping block refer to Gengshen and Xinyou. These two stars fear the knife and chopping block, and also fear the heavenly altar where worship takes place. If the palace position is not favorable, and the current year's ruler also commits this offense, minor cases may result in unforeseen injuries, while severe cases may lead to a cruel death.) Dragons and rats, if they both appear in the Xun position, can only follow the dust raised by a fat horse. (When a dragon falls into the Si palace, it degenerates into a snake, and the rat transforms into a sick rat; moreover, dragons inherently fear rats digging into their noses. If they also lose the proper time, they are destined to be subordinate officials who follow horses and oxen.)
Cattle and horses are entangled in the Gen palace, and in old age they can only be caught in the net of the old fisherman. (Cattle and horses falling in the Yin palace must fight with the tiger, but they are not in a favorable position, indicating lack of clothing and food. The term 'cover net' refers to the situation where hunger and cold are pressing, and one can only use a broken net to cover the body.)
If the禽 falls in an empty and wasteland, it has not even enough money to buy vegetables. (Empty and wasteland refers to the ten heavenly stems' empty and wasteland and the ancestral destruction empty and wasteland. If the胎禽 falls in such a palace, the person will certainly be extremely poor. He wants to sell vegetables for a living but even cannot afford the capital.) If the star mansion is located in the area of great loss, the jar lacks the millet to exchange for wine. (The great loss evil star refers to the rat avoiding the sheep head, the ox meeting the horse but cannot plow, which is the type of six harmful influences. If the main star is afflicted by it, it will also be lonely and destitute, wanting to buy a bottle of wine but having no money. )
A deer encountering the six harmful positions will rest at night and set out at dawn. The six harmful positions are Bingyin and Renyin. If a deer is in these two positions and is born in autumn or winter, it will certainly have a short lifespan. If born in spring or summer, its six relations will be like ice and charcoal that cannot coexist, making it difficult to have children. The phrase "rest at night and set out at dawn" means constantly working for food and clothing. A horse entering the empty and great loss positions can only wear a straw cloak and wait for the rain. Empty refers to empty亡, and loss refers to great loss. If a horse is in such positions, it will live a poor life in the fields all its life, never experiencing prosperity. The phrase "wear a straw cloak and wait for the rain" means it can only be a farmer.
Deer and monkey gathering at the willow wall, leaning on fragrant scents and relying on jade. (This interpretation is the same as the previous one regarding the two stars.)
The Bi water leopard resides in its native palace, indicating the ability to enjoy the luxury of fine wine and lambs. (Guihai is the native palace of the leopard. When the leopard is in this palace, it is favorable for those born in spring or summer, and if the five stars do not conflict, the person will be both wealthy and noble, with great fame. ) The Qiu wood wolf moves upon the jade steps of the palace, bringing honor of wearing robes and holding a scepter. (The palace refers to Jiawu. When the wolf is in this palace, it transforms into a lion. It is favorable for those born in autumn at night. The wolf is fierce and cruel; if it is further supported by strong transformations, it indicates a position of military power and authority.)
