Example of Starting the Ten-Day Cycle
Charting guides: Liu Yao Divination Chart, Da Yan Yarrow Stalk Divination
Determining the starting point of a ten-day cycle involves first identifying the ten-day cycle corresponding to the person's birth year. If the birth year's heavenly stem is Jia, then it is the start of the cycle. If not, use the method of reversing the ten heavenly stems: starting from the person's birth year's stem and branch, move the heavenly stem and earthly branch backward one position each until reaching Jia. The cycle corresponding to the Jia reached in this way is the starting cycle. For example, a person born in Xin Mao belongs to the lower cycle of Jia Zi. By reversing the ten heavenly stems from Xin Mao, we get Xin (Mao), Geng (Yin), Ji (Chou), Wu (Zi), Ding (Hai), Bing (Xu), Yi (You), and Jia (Shen). Since Jia is reached at Shen, the cycle is the lower Jia Shen cycle. According to the table, lower Jia Shen corresponds to 'Jing Mu An', so the cycle starts with 'Jing Mu An'. When encountering Jia, stop. If the person was born in Jia Shen and belongs to the lower cycle, then directly start with 'Jing Mu An' without needing to reverse the ten heavenly stems.
Take two more examples. For a person born in the year Renshen (壬申) within the middle wu (旬) of Jiazi (甲子), add the reversed ten heavenly stems: Renshen (壬申), Xinwei (辛未), Gengwu (庚午), Jisi (己巳), Wuchen (戊辰), Dingmao (丁卯), Bingyin (丙寅), Yichou (乙丑), Jiazi (甲子). The heavenly stem Jia falls on Zi, indicating the middle wu of Jiazi. Refer to the table, and the starting point is 'Ghost Metal Sheep' (鬼金羊). For a person born in the year Dingmao (丁卯) within the upper wu of Jiazi, add the reversed ten heavenly stems: Dingmao (丁卯), Bingyin (丙寅), Yichou (乙丑), Jiazi (甲子). The heavenly stem Jia reaches Zi, indicating the upper wu of Jiazi. The starting point is 'Ji Water Leopard' (箕水豹). In summary, regardless of the year encountered, use the reversed ten heavenly stems until reaching Jia. The position where Jia stops is the starting point.
This is a table showing the starting mansions for the eighteen Jia cycles in the Three Yuan system. When casting a horoscope, simply refer to this table. The Middle Yuan six cycles: Jiazi is paired with "Ghost Metal Sheep" (the character "zi" is missing in the original text, but according to the style of the following text, it should be read as Jiazi, and the original is retained without correction), Jiaxu is paired with "Heart Moon Fox," Jiashen is paired with "Lou Metal Dog," Jiawu is paired with "Zhang Moon Deer," Jiachen is paired with "Dou Wood Ape," and Jiayin is paired with "Bi Moon Rooster." The Lower Yuan six cycles: Jiazi is paired with "Jiao Wood Dragon," Jiaxu is paired with "Wei Moon Swallow," Jiashen is paired with "Well Wood Eel," Jiawu is paired with "Fang Sun Rabbit," Jiachen is paired with "Kui Wood Wolf," and Jiayin is paired with "Xing Sun Horse." The Upper Yuan six cycles: Jiazi is paired with "Ji Water Leopard," Jiaxu is paired with "Mao Sun Chicken," Jiashen is paired with "Zhen Water Worm," Jiawu is paired with "Xu Sun Rat," Jiachen is paired with "Can Water Monkey," and Jiayin is paired with "Di Earth Hare."
Making the Start of the Three Yuan Weeks
Here explains how the upper stem is derived. Assuming that the upper beginning of the first cycle, Jiazi and Jiayin, start with the mansion of "Dishi Tu Mo," the method to determine the previous cycle's stem is as follows: arrange the twenty-eight mansions in order, and count every eleventh mansion, skipping the mansion of "Niu Jin Niu." By following this method, one can count thousands or ten thousands of cycles on their own. For example, if the upper beginning of the first cycle, Jiayin, starts with "Dishi Tu Mo," to find the upper beginning of the next cycle (the middle cycle), start counting from the mansion of "Dishi": Dishi, Fang, Xin, Wei, Ji, Dou, Nu, Xu, Wei, Shi, Bi — skipping the mansion of "Niu" — the eleventh mansion is Bi, which is the starting point of the middle cycle's Jiazi. Thus, the middle cycle's Jiazi corresponds to the mansion of Bi.
From the Wall mansion, counting twenty-eight mansions in sequence: Wall, Kui, Lou, Wei, Mao, Bi, Zui, Can, Jing, Gui, Liu, the eleventh is the Willow mansion, indicating that the future middle yuan Jiaxu decade is paired with the Willow mansion. Starting from the character 'Liu', counting twenty-eight mansions in sequence: Liu, Xing, Zhang, Yi, Zhen, Jiao, Kang, Di, Fang, Xin, Wei, the eleventh is the Tail mansion, meaning that the future middle yuan Jiashen decade is paired with the Tail mansion. By following this method, the sequence is clear. If one wishes to reverse and determine past decades, the same method can be applied in reverse, counting backwards through the twenty-eight mansions. This principle aligns with what Confucius said: "The Shang dynasty followed the Xia dynasty's rites, and what was added or subtracted can be known; the Zhou dynasty followed the Shang dynasty's rites, and what was added or subtracted can also be known." (From The Analects of Confucius, Chapter 2) This is about deducing the unknown from the known.
Examples of the Main Fetus Star
There is a rule for removing the host star and the fetal star according to the mansion: if the year is Xin Mao and has a leap month, the mansion is not removed. If the person's birth year does not have a leap month, the host and fetal stars must remove the "Ox Metal Ox" and "Girl Earth Bat" but only when calculating the host and fetal stars, not when counting to the destiny palace and body palace. For example, a person born on the eighth day of the eighth lunar month at the hour of zi in the year Xin Mao belongs to the lower yuan Jia Zi decade and the Jia Shen shen. The starting star is "Well Wood Omen." Using the number eight from the eighth day, count eight mansions starting from Well: Well, Ghost, Willow, Star, Zhang, Yi, Chen, Jiao, stopping at Jiao. Then place the next mansion, Kangle, into the palace position. In order, the Zi palace is Di, Chou is Fang, Yin is Xin, Mao is Wei, Chen is Ji, stopping at Si palace. Then use the Five Tiger遁 method to determine the heavenly stem. In the year of Bing Xin, start from Geng Yin, Geng Yin, Xin Mao, Ren Chen, Gui Si, falling into the Gui Si palace. Thus, the host star is "Ji Water豹," and the next mansion "Dou Wood Hui" is the fetal star.
The method of excluding mansions differs between men and women: for a man's destiny, the mansion "Ox" (Niu Xiu) is excluded, and for a woman's destiny, the mansion "Girl" (Nu Xiu) is excluded. However, if while counting through the mansions one reaches the end and the final mansion happens to be "Ox" or "Girl," then for a man's destiny, "Ox" is not excluded, and for a woman's destiny, "Girl" is not excluded. Also, if the year of birth has a leap month, neither men nor women exclude the "Ox" or "Girl" mansions. This is because a leap month itself is an addition to make up for a deficiency; since there is already an excess, there is no need to subtract further. If there is no leap month in that year, then the previous rule applies. All other cases follow the same principle. (If the year of birth has no leap month and while counting, a man's destiny lands on the "Ox" mansion with "Ox" as the main star, then it is counted without exclusion; the same applies to a woman's destiny landing on the "Girl" mansion.)
Examples of Determining the Main Nurturing Palace
The main palace of the fetus is the position where the main star and the fetal star fall. It is calculated by starting from the birth year's branch to determine the month, then proceeding to the day and finally the hour. For example, if someone is born on the eighth day of the eighth lunar month at the子 hour in the year Xinmao, start from the branch of the birth year, 卯, to count the first month. Count sequentially until reaching 戌, which corresponds to the eighth month. Then from 戌, count the first day sequentially until reaching 巳, which corresponds to the eighth day. From 巳, count the hours sequentially until reaching 子, which is the birth hour. Therefore, the position is 巳. Finally, use the Five Tiger遁 method to determine the heavenly stem: in the year of 丙辛, the sequence starts from Gengyin, which is Gengyin, Xinmao, Renchen, Guisi. Therefore, the main palace of the fetus is Guisi palace. Other examples are calculated in the same way.
Examples of Determining the Destiny Palace
To determine the命宫, only the month and hour are used, not the year or day. For example, a person born on the eighth day of the eighth lunar month in the year Xinmao at the子 hour: first, count backward from the Zi position for the month. Zi represents the first month, Hai is the second, Xu is the third, You is the fourth, Shen is the fifth, Wei is the sixth, Wu is the seventh, and Si is the eighth month. Therefore, the eighth month falls on Si. Then, count forward from the Si position for the hour. Zi is on Si, Chou is on Wu, Yin is on Wei, Mao is on Shen. When you reach Mao, that is the fixed point for the命宫, so the命宫 falls on Shen. Use the five tiger遁 method to determine the heavenly stem: in the years of Bingxinh, start from Gengyin. The sequence is Gengyin, Xinmao, Renchen, Guisi, Jiawu, Yiwei, Bingshen. When you reach Shen, it is Bingshen, so the命宫 is in the Bingshen palace. All other examples follow the same method.
Examples of Determining the Destiny Star
The destiny star is determined by counting from the mansion of the fetal star in the order of the twelve earthly branches starting from Zi (the rat) until reaching the destiny palace. For example, take a person born in the year Xinmao. His fetal star is "Dou Mu Xie" (the constellation of the Dipper, Wood Ox). According to the "Song of Combined Mansions," Dou combines with Xu, so we start counting from Xu. The sequence is: Zi (rat) corresponds to Xu, Chou (ox) to Wei, Yin (tiger) to Shi, Mao (rabbit) to Bi, Chen (dragon) to Kui, Si (snake) to Lou, Wu (horse) to Wei, Wei (goat) to Mao, Shen (monkey) to Bi. Counting stops at Shen. His destiny palace is in the Bingshen palace, and Shen corresponds to Bi, so his destiny star is "Bi Yue Wu" (Net Moon Crow). All other examples are handled in the same way.
The song of conjunction and lodging
Hex Harmony refers to the fixed pairings of the Twenty-Eight Mansions. When calculating the destiny star, body star, and longevity star, one should use the Hex Harmony system for counting. For example, Jiao combines with Mao, Kang combines with Wei, Di combines with Lou; Kui combines with Fang, Xin combines with Bi, Dou combines with Xu; Ji combines with Wei, Wei combines with Shi, Niu combines with Nu; Zu combines with Yi, Can combines with Zhang, Liu combines with Gui; Bi combines with Chen, Jing combines with Xing. These are fourteen pairs of Hex Harmony. The term 'root cause' refers to the fact that each of the Twenty-Eight Mansions corresponds to a pair of earthly branches that form a Hex Harmony (such as Zi and Chou, Yin and Hai), and since the stars are opposite, the mansions also harmonize with each other.
Examples of Rising Palace
To determine the body palace, only the month and day are used, not the year or hour. The day is counted as its actual number, with one day equaling one number. The month is doubled, and a month void is counted as two numbers. For example, the eighth month is counted as sixteen numbers (eight multiplied by two). The eighth day of the month is counted as eight numbers. Adding the sixteen numbers from the month and the eight numbers from the day gives a total of twenty-four numbers. Then, starting from the rat hour, count backwards. At each of the four cardinal positions—rat, horse, rabbit, and rooster—each position counts as three numbers, while the other positions count as two numbers. The place where the twenty-four numbers are exhausted is the body palace.
Why are the positions of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You counted as three numbers? Because each of these four positions originally had three star mansions, so they are assigned three numbers; the other positions have only two star mansions, so they are assigned two numbers. The reasoning behind this is to determine the palace based on the inherent number of each position, which is called the "body palace." Following this method, the twenty-four numbers start from Zi and move backward. Zi is three, Hai is two, Xu is two, You is three, Shen is two, Wei is two, Wu is three, Si is two, Chen is two, and Mao is three. The count ends exactly at Mao, so the body palace is at Mao. Then using the Five Tiger遁 method, we look for the heavenly stem in the years of Bing and Xin. Starting from Gengyin, the sequence is Gengyin, Xinmao, so the body palace is in the Xinmao palace.
Examples of the Rising Star Star
The method of calculating the body star is to take the conjunction of the life star with the mansion, and count from the Zi mansion in a clockwise direction until reaching the body palace. The mansion that falls on the body palace is the body star. All calculations from Zi are done in a clockwise direction. For example, the person born in the Xinmao year has a life star of "Bi Yue Wu". According to the "Conjunction Mansion Song", Bi combines with Zhen. Starting from Zi, we count: Zi on Zhen, Chou on Jiao, Yin on Kang, Mao on Di. His body palace is on Mao, and Mao is exactly on Di mansion, so his body star is "Di Tu Mo".
Rules for Establishing a Longevity Palace
The location of the longevity palace is determined by the yin and yang of the heavenly stem and the gender. First, find the position opposite to the earthly branch of the birth year, then take the previous or next position accordingly. For example, if someone is born in the year Xinmao and is female, the heavenly stem Xin is yin, called yin female. Since Mao is opposite You, take the previous position Xu as the longevity palace. If male, called yin male, the same opposition applies, but take the next position Shen as the longevity palace. Another example: if someone is born in the year Jiazi and is male, the heavenly stem Jia is yang, called yang male. Since Zi is opposite Wu, take the previous position Wei as the longevity palace. If female, called yang female, the same opposition applies, but take the next position Si as the longevity palace. The heavenly stem of the palace position is still determined by the Five Tiger遁 method.
Examples of the Longevity Star
The method of determining the longevity star is to start from the mansion of the birth year and move forward in sequence to the longevity mansion. The mansion where the star falls is the longevity star. For example, take the person born in the year Xinmao. His destiny star is "Bi Yue Wu". Starting from Zi, we count: Zi is Bi, Chou is Mu, Yin is Can, Mao is Jing, Chen is Gui, Si is Liu, Wu is Xing, Wei is Zhang, Shen is Yi. His longevity mansion is Shen, and Shen is Yi mansion, so his longevity star is "Yi Huo Sha" (Wings Fire Snake). Other examples are calculated in the same way.
Examples of the流星 (Shooting Star) divination method
A流星 is the annual movement of the star, with each year corresponding to a zodiac sign. Starting from the "tai xing" (fetal star), the sequence proceeds in the order of the 28 constellations, advancing one constellation each year. For example, a person born in the Xinmao year has the fetal star "Dǒu Mù Xiè". The first year corresponds to Dǒu, the second to Niu, the third to Nu, the fourth to Xu, the fifth to Wei, the sixth to Shi, the seventh to Bi, the eighth to Kui, the ninth to Lou, the tenth to Wei, and so on until the hundredth year. All other examples follow the same pattern.
Examples of Starting Major Lifetimes

The great destiny period begins from the palace where the main star falls, unlike the Zi Ping method which proceeds sequentially by one stem and branch. The order of the destiny periods here is determined by the禽, not by the Zi Ping method. The number of years for each destiny period is determined by the Five Phases of the main star: if the main star is one of the four water hosts, it governs one year; if it is one of the four fire hosts, it governs two years; if it is one of the four wood hosts, it governs three years; if it is one of the four metal hosts, it governs four years; if it is one of the four earth hosts, it governs five years; if it is the day host, it governs six years; if it is the month host, it is seven years. In summary, it is water one, fire two, wood three, metal four, earth five, day six, month seven.
The direction of a person's fortune is determined by their gender and the yin or yang of the heavenly stem in the palace where their main star falls. For a male, if the heavenly stem in the palace is Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng, or Ren (yang stems), the fortune flows in the forward direction. If it is Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin, or Gui (yin stems), the fortune flows in the reverse direction. For a female, it is the opposite: if the heavenly stem in the palace is Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin, or Gui (yin stems), the fortune flows in the forward direction. If it is Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng, or Ren (yang stems), the fortune flows in the reverse direction.
Rules for Starting the Limit of Movement
Xingxian is the small destiny period. It starts from the next trigram after the命宫 and proceeds in order, falling on the ages of fifteen, twenty-five, thirty-six, fifty-two, sixty-one, seventy-one, and eighty-one. When examining the destiny period, one should observe the birth and prosperity of the five phases, the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of the storage positions, and also consider the concept of solitude and deficiency. The positions of the four storage places are: the wood storage is at Wei, the fire storage is at Xu, the metal storage is at Chou, and the water and earth share the same storage at Chen. When the destiny period reaches the storage position of the five phases of the birth chart, there is an indication of gathering and closure.
Examples of the Year Star
The method of determining the year star uses the theory of Nayin sound elements. For example, a person born in the year Guimao (癸卯) has a Nayin sound element of metal, so the year star is "Kang Jinlong" (亢金龙), which corresponds to the metal element. Similarly, for the pair Jiachen (甲辰) and Yisi (乙巳), a person born in Yisi has a Nayin sound element of fire, so the year star should be "Yi Huoshe" (翼火蛇). However, in this case, it is changed to "Wei Huo" (尾火), the fire mansion, because it takes into account the season. Since Jiachen belongs to the spring season, the year star is determined by the position of the person's birth year. The same method applies to all other examples.
Examples of Starting with the Month and Star
The Moon Star is calculated by following the Year Star: when the Year Star reaches a particular mansion, the first month begins from that mansion, and then the twenty-eight mansions are counted in order until the month of birth. The mansion reached by counting is the Moon Star. The palace where the Moon Star falls is the same as the mansion reached by counting.
The poem about the moon and stars rising with the day stars is as follows:
陽角陰室水牛宮,金心木參火星同,土胃但從丙寅起,宮中順布定窮通。 詩解 太陽日屬火,故起角木蛟。太陰月屬水,故起室火豬。以本生月屈指數到本生日為住是何宿,乃及日星也。宮亦是此。
This poem explains how the moon and stars determine the starting mansion: the initial mansion is determined by the Five Phases of the moon star. If the moon star belongs to the sun (day mansion), it starts with the Horn mansion. If it belongs to the moon (month mansion), it starts with the Encampment mansion. If it belongs to water, it starts with the Ox mansion; if it belongs to metal, it starts with the Heart mansion; if it belongs to wood, it starts with the Three Stars mansion; if it belongs to fire, it starts with the Star mansion; if it belongs to earth, it starts with the Stomach mansion. It always begins from Bingyin, and then proceeds in order within the palace, determining the fortune. Explanation: The sun belongs to fire, and fire is generated from wood, so it starts with 'Horn mansion of wooden dragon'. The moon belongs to water, and water is hidden in the Encampment mansion, so it starts with 'Encampment mansion of fire pig'. After determining the starting mansion, count the number of months from the month of birth to the day of birth, and the mansion reached is the star mansion; the palace where the star mansion falls is the specific palace.
Examples of Stars at the Time of Rising
The time star is derived from the day star: when the day star is determined to be in a particular mansion, it is placed at the position of the子 hour. Then, counting sequentially to the hour of birth, the mansion reached is the time star. If the person was born at the子 hour, the day star remains at the starting position, and thus the day star is the time star. The palace where the time star falls is the corresponding position.

When predicting the movement of celestial stars, first take the image from the Heavenly Stems, then verify it from the Earthly Branches. It is essential to examine the three aspects of swallowing, form and strength, and the path of transformation, ensuring they are in harmony. Swallowing refers to determining which star eats which; form and strength refers to whether the strength is strong and the position is favorable; the path of transformation refers to the imagery formed by the transformation of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. When considering the path of transformation, it is divided into two categories: true transformation and awakened transformation. If the main star, fetal star, and the host of the month and day combine and form a transformation, it is called 'true transformation'; if they combine with the host of the year and hour to form a transformation, it is called 'awakened transformation'. True transformation has strong power, while awakened transformation has weaker power.
Using the three stars to determine illness, if a meteor or the Tai Sui (Year Star) injures the main star, the illness is a chronic condition that occurs frequently without a fixed time. If the main star, meteor, and Tai Sui injure the fetal star, the illness will have a clear external cause. If the main star, fetal star, and Tai Sui injure the meteor, it indicates headaches and pain in the two legs and lower back. If the meteor injures both the main star and fetal star, and the Tai Sui then injures the meteor, main star, and fetal star, it signifies a mixture of various illnesses that are difficult to resolve.
True Perception and Transformation Examples
Here we clarify the two types of transformation again. True transformation: the main star and the fetal star must harmonize with each monthly mansion and daily mansion, and the harmonization must result in transformation, which is called true transformation. Perceived transformation: the main star and the fetal star must harmonize with each annual mansion and hourly mansion, and the harmonization must result in transformation, which is called perceived transformation. Harmonization without transformation does not count, and transformation without harmonization also does not count.
Divination of Auspiciousness, Misfortune, Life and Death
This诀 specializes in determining the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of the relationship between the three stars (main star, fetal star, and meteor star) and the Tai Sui (celestial stem) and Da Yun (great destiny). If the main star swallows the Tai Sui and Da Yun, wealth will come; if the fetal star swallows the Tai Sui and Da Yun, blessings and honors will naturally arrive. If the Tai Sui harms the meteor star, disaster will surely come; if the meteor star harms the Tai Sui, wealth will be obtained instead. If the Tai Sui harms the main star, men (yang people) will suffer misfortune; if the Tai Sui harms the fetal star, misfortune will fall upon women (yin people). If the main star harms the meteor star, wealth will certainly come; if the meteor star harms the main star, disaster will certainly occur.
A falling star harms the main star, indicating misfortune related to the wife and relatives; if the fetal star harms the falling star, it is only a small gain of wealth. If the three stars mutually harm each other, it indicates imprisonment; if they cannot harmonize, it means death in prison. If the three stars although mutually harm each other can still harmonize, it is only disputes and quarrels. If the year star harms the fetal star, main star, and falling star at the same time, it indicates lying in bed for a hundred days and sorrow in the family. If the three stars both harm each other and cannot harmonize, it definitely leads to death; at this time, if the longevity star comes to save, it is only legal disputes; if the longevity star does not come to save, it is not a minor illness, but certain death in the wilderness, ending in a mound of yellow earth.
On the Example of Children and Offspring
When discussing children, the principle of mutual control among the Five Phases is used as a standard. If a Yang禽 is in a Yang palace, it indicates more sons; if a Yin禽 is in a Yin palace, it indicates more daughters. For example, if the '昴日鸡' (Rooster of the昴 star) or the '胃土雉' (Earth Chicken of the胃 star) fall in a water area (the regions of壬, 癸, 亥, or 子), the chicken or the bird will be submerged in water, leading to an absence of offspring. Similarly, if they fall in a fire area, they will be burned and scorched. If there is also strong metal energy, the metal will harm the禽, leading to damage in offspring or the birth of children with disabilities.
On the Examples of the Wealth Star
When discussing wealth, we look at which stars are harming which. If the main star harms the胎星, the wealth comes from accumulated resources from previous endeavors; if the胎星 harms the太岁, the wealth comes from new opportunities; if the流星, 太岁, and 月令 all happen to harm the 大运 at the same time, this indicates sudden wealth coming in continuously and abundant resources.
On the method of examining the main fetal star example
When determining the interaction between the main star and the fetal star through the method of禽演, if the main star turns around to harm the fetal star, then wealth and honor will not last long. The wife's palace is like dew that dries up at dawn or frost on a stone that disappears in a moment. At this time, if there is another禽 in the four pillars that can control the main star, the wife's palace will become a situation of two strong forces opposing each other, leading to few children over time. If there is no such禽 to control the main star, the main star will act without restraint, devouring the fetal star, resulting in hardship approaching complete lack of descendants.
If during one's life journey one encounters a favorable and harmonious period, although one may still have children, they cannot be properly arranged or established; even if the wife is not harmed, there will ultimately be few descendants. Conversely, if the fetal star harms the main star, then prosperity will not last long, and the wife will be like a sharp blade hidden in its sheath, while the children will rebel against their parents. At this time, if there is a star in the four pillars that can control the fetal star or support the main star, although one may not reach a fatal outcome, one will still be lonely. This is indeed the correct theory of the Yanyin school. Among its profound mysteries, one must not easily pass it on to others, lest the heavenly secrets be leaked.
On the Examples of the Main Fetus and the Shooting Star in Divination
When observing the main star, the fetal star, and the transient star, one can use a tree as an analogy: the main star is the root, the fetal star is the trunk, and the transient star is the branches and leaves. The root governs the early years, the trunk governs the middle years, and the branches and leaves govern the later years. If the main star is harmed in childhood, there will certainly be an early death; if the fetal star is harmed in middle age, there will be danger to life during that period. If the transient star is harmed, it should be judged according to the specific circumstances of that year, and one must not be rigid in interpretation. Similarly, one cannot judge fate solely based on the appearance of the birds; the length of life and the status of nobility or humility follow the same principle.
Childhood Closure
This is a type of ominous influence determined by matching the birth month with the birth hour, known as "Golden Lock Obstacle." The hours of Zi (Rat) and Mao (Rabbit) are exempt from this obstacle. The rhyme goes: those born in January should avoid the hour of Xu (Dog); those born in February should avoid the hour of Chou (Ox); those born in March should avoid the hour of Shen (Monkey); those born in April should avoid the hour of Hai (Pig); those born in May should avoid the hour of Wu (Horse); those born in June should avoid the hour of You (Rooster); those born in July should avoid the hour of Chen (Dragon); those born in August should avoid the hour of Wei (Goat); those born in September should avoid the hour of Yin (Tiger); and those born in October should avoid the hour of Si (Snake). If one encounters this obstacle, it is considered an adverse conflict. If the person's body palace, destiny palace, and this obstacle all coincide, it is certain that the child will suffer misfortune.
On the Examples of Hidden Birds (暗禽)
When predicting the movements of the禽星, if the hidden禽 (such as 'Tail Fire Tiger', 'Sickle Water Leopard', fox, badger, rat, bat, etc.) is in a superior position, the person's nature tends to be timid and their actions are uncertain in success or failure. If this pattern occurs, it indicates blood hemorrhoids or pain in the small intestine. In severe cases, it may lead to facial disfigurement or the appearance of spots on the face, making the appearance uneven. However, if there are noblemen,禄, or马, these auspicious spirits above, it will not be a problem.
The Theory of Qi and Destiny
Generally, a major transformation occurs every ten years, and within each major period, good fortune brings good results and bad fortune brings bad results.the so-called good fortune means that within the first five years there is no immediate effect, but within the next five years it will definitely manifest. The same applies to bad fortune; within the first five years there may be no immediate effect, but within the next five years it will definitely occur. Although this is spoken of in terms of qi and destiny, each of the twenty-eight constellations has its own period of decline and prosperity, and each has its own suitability for day or night, so they cannot all be treated the same.
For example: "Jiao Mu Jiao" and "Kang Jin Long" born in the ninth month of autumn are like hibernating insects, unable to change or leap. "Wei Yue Yan" born during the spring equinox or Jing Zhe period should be treated as if born in the ninth month. Those born during the day have eloquence, while those born at night are speechless. "Mao Ri Ji" is a bright bird; those born at night cannot display their abilities, while those born during the day can. Especially those born at noon or卯时 (around dawn) can show their potential. Therefore, the time when a person is vigorous depends on the season of birth, whether it is day or night, and each should be considered according to the appropriate time.
Using the three limits to determine the decline or prosperity, and based on that to judge good or bad fortune, and verifying according to the place where the stars fall and the time of birth, there is no mistake. As for the four stars of offspring, the阴宫, body, and life, although they are thoroughly calculated, in essence, they all fall within the main star and the fetal star. The great years, the small years, and the wandering stars are collectively called the three limits, and the meaning has already been explained above. Those who inquire about fate, please examine it carefully.
Three Limits of Good and Bad Fortune
For example: if both the meteor and the main star are 'Dǒu Mù Xiè', the two Xiè will struggle and fight, indicating a disease of a mass in the abdomen. Alternatively, if the Tai Su is a tiger and the small limit is also a tiger, the two tigers will fight each other, leading to the same illness of a mass in the abdomen, continuous misfortunes, and restlessness of the mind. When two tigers meet, one leopard will be harmed; if the leopard wins, it will harm the tiger. Two dogs can harm a wolf, and two wolves can also harm a dog. All these situations must be carefully examined based on the strength of both sides, the time of the year, and the coordination of the three limits.
For example, the animals such as "Jiao Mu Jiao," "Kang Jin Long," "Wei Huo Hu," "Ji Shui Bao," "Shi Huo Zhu," "Bi Shui Yu," "Kui Mu Wang," "Lou Jin Gou," "Gui Jin Yang," "Liu Tu Zhang," "Xing Ri Ma," and "Zhang Yue Lu," if their small limit reaches muddy fields, it is called "wu zu," which means either illness in the feet or getting into legal trouble. The constellations "Di Tu He," "Fang Ri Tu," "Xin Yue Hu," and "Wei Huo Hu" encountering the卯 (Mao) position, with foxes and rabbits gathering together, will lead to deceit and theft. Meteors such as crows, swallows, chickens, and昴 (Mao) reaching the酉 (You) position will surely bring about disputes and arguments. The "Cen Shui Yuan" and "Zui Huo Hou" born in the Jiao and Kang constellations will still be happy in July as they can find fruits to eat, but if they are born at night, the sky will be dark and gloomy, indicating ordinary people with little achievement. Dragons are originally creatures that bring clouds and rain, but if they leave the period of Jingzhe, they will show signs of retreat, indecisiveness, and lack of results despite learning much.
If the falling star is "Nv Tu Fu", and it reaches the You palace in the third period, chickens, crows, and pheasants will gather to peck at it, leading to legal troubles or misfortune and difficulties. If it reaches the Xu palace, which is the dog's position, the bat will be eaten by the dog. If the falling star is "Niu Jin Niu", encountering the Bingshen and Dingyou patterns, the earth will collapse into a pit, turning into a trap, indicating official disasters, disputes, and poison, with everything failing to go as intended.
