『箕』禽在天號「文昌星」，其宿有四星，位居人馬，幽州燕國分野。為地禽，生在深山岩谷之中，能降百獸。其狀花錢，黑而小於虎也。《易》曰：「君子豹變。」蓋周制豹尾車者，所以象君子豹變之義。文豹隱霧，十日不食，欲以澤其衣毛，成其文彩，殆謂是乎！說曰：虎豹狸皆能勻物而取焉，怕日出，喜陰晴。遇七元甲子為將星，利用四金時吉。

The celestial mansion of Ji Xu has an animal known as the "Wen Chang Star" in the sky. The Book of Changes, in the chapter on "Revolution," says: "The gentleman changes like a leopard." In the Zhou dynasty, there was a leopard-tail chariot, which was derived from the meaning of the gentleman changing like a leopard. A leopard with noble appearance hides in the mist, refraining from eating for ten days, in order to moisten its skin and cultivate beautiful patterns, which is probably referring to this. There is another saying that tigers, leopards, and lizards all assess the size of their prey before eating. It fears the sun and prefers weather that is alternately sunny and cloudy. On the seventh Jiazi day, it becomes a general star, and it is auspicious only during the four metal hours.

元：寅宮。合：危。吞伏百獸。畏：井、畢、奎。四季旺，春月稍忌之。華蓋：坤。將星：申。泊申曰「猛虎出林」，泊子曰「鏡卦妝臺」，此宮化龍，泊辰曰「虎遭陷□」。

『斗』禽在天號「武威星」，其宿有六星，位居磨竭，楊州越國分野。乃水禽，即螃□也。生湖海之中，其性靜而安閒，為禽中之最弱者。一雲或作獬，非□也。獬即□豸也。獬威貞烈，其氣勇剛，身有九德，出入百獸難當。以此觀之，其為獬之真也。遇三元己酉為將星，利用四水時吉。

Another interpretation suggests that it should be "Xie" instead of a crab; Xie is also called Xiechi (the original text has missing characters, which should be "蟹" and "獬"). Xie is dignified, virtuous, and courageous, possessing nine virtues. When it appears, all beasts find it difficult to resist. According to this interpretation, it is truly Xie. On the third heavenly stem cycle day of Jiyou, it becomes the general star, and it is auspicious when using the four water hours.

『牛』禽在天號「武昌星」，其禽有六星，位居磨竭，揚州越國分野。地禽，即牛也。牛耳無竅，以鼻聽也。明者聽於人神，故雖有耳，而以不聽為成。焦貢《易林》曰：「牛聾，龍亦聾也。」春夏衰，秋冬得地，能戰虎豹，乃中宮土宿之曜。力敵石山，為太白金星。怕天寒雨雪，喜天日晴暖。遇七元甲午為將星，利用四土時吉。

Jiao Yanshou's "Yi Lin" says: "The ox is deaf, the dragon is also deaf." Its energy wanes in spring and summer, but it gains strength in autumn and winter, and can fight with tigers and leopards. It belongs to the Central Palace's earth mansion's bright star; its strength is great enough to hold back a mountain of stone, and it is paired with the planet Tai Bai (Bright Star). It fears cold and snow, and prefers clear and warm weather. On the seventh heavenly stem day, Jiawu, it becomes a general star. It is auspicious only when the four earth times are used.

『女』禽在天號「陰謀星」，其宿有四星，位居寶瓶，青州齊國分野。乃飛禽，即飛鼠也，常居屋角巖穴之中。自驚蟄後九月前有氣。其禽雖小，諸禽難伏。喜天晴，怕寒冷，日伏夜遊。遇四元己卯為將星，利用四火時吉。

It is a flying animal, specifically the flying squirrel (bat), which usually resides in the corners of houses and caves. It has vitality from the time of Awakening of Insects until before the ninth month. Although this animal is small, other animals find it difficult to subdue. It prefers sunny weather and fears cold. It hides during the day and comes out at night. On the fourth day of the Jia Mao stem, it becomes the general star, and it is auspicious when the four fire hours are used.

元：子宮。合：牛。無食。畏：角、亢、翌、婁。華蓋：申。將星：柳。春冬衰，夏秋旺。泊亥曰「金釵落井」，泊卯曰「妖女鷹網」，泊未曰「陰殺」，又曰「蝠懷陰險」。

『虛』禽在天號「幽劫星」，其宿有二星，位居寶瓶，青州齊國分野。乃地禽，即老鼠也。生在人家土穴之中。《詩》曰：「誰謂鼠無角？」又曰：「誰謂鼠無牙？」《說》曰：以為有雀角，以為有鼠牙，似是而非，以無為有也。

It is a terrestrial animal, which is the rat, living in the earth holes of people's homes. The Book of Songs, Zhuan Nan, Xing Lu says: Who says the rat has no horns? And also says: Who says the rat has no teeth? Commentators believe that this refers to attributing the horns of the quail to the rat and the teeth of the rat to itself, making it seem true but actually false, equating the nonexistent with the existing.

一種鼠見人，則交其前足而拱，謂之禮鼠，或謂拱鼠。《詩》曰：「相鼠有體，人而無禮，其或取諸乎？」《傳》曰：「窮鼠齧墾，蓋鼠窮則□。」故《兵法》曰：「歸師勿遏，圍師必闕。」鼠有螯毒者，甘口齧人，鳥獸皆不痛。《春秋》所書：「食郊牛之角者也。」《博物志》云：鼠之最小者，或云甘鼠是也。日伏夜遊，秋冬飽暖。直一元甲子為將星，利用四木時吉。

There is a kind of mouse that when it sees people, will lift its two front legs and bow, called "Li Shu" or "Gong Shu." The "Shi Jing · Yong Feng · Xiang Shi" says: look at that mouse still having some dignity, but people do not observe propriety. This is probably derived from this behavior. Ancient traditions also say: when a mouse is cornered, it will bite people, because when a mouse is in a desperate situation, it will fight to the death ("Shu qiong ze □" where the missing character is supposed to be "ne" based on the meaning). Therefore, the "Bing Fa" says: do not intercept the retreating army, and when surrounding the enemy, leave a gap. Some mice have claws with poison; when they bite people, their mouths taste sweet, and the bitten birds and beasts do not feel pain. The "Chun Qiu" records an incident of "a mouse eating the horns of the sacrificial ox used in the suburban sacrifice," which refers to this kind of mouse. The "Bo Wu Zhi" says: the smallest kind of mouse, some people say it is the Gan Shu. It hides during the day and comes out at night, and is well-fed in autumn and winter. The first day of the first heavenly stem and earthly branch, Jia Zi, is considered the day of the general star, and it is auspicious to use the four wooden times.

『危』禽在天號「天淫星」，其宿有四星，位居寶瓶，青州齊國分野。乃天禽，即燕子也。其性瀟灑，信而能言。《類從》曰：「燕識。戊己銜泥，狐□上伏，不越度阡陌。」出入得貴人愛惜，春社後、秋社前有氣。喜微風暖日，得地千里。直四元己酉為將星，利用四金時吉。

When swallows enter and exit, they are cherished by the nobleman. After the Spring She festival and before the Autumn She festival, it is a time when their energy is active. They prefer gentle winds and warm sunlight, and when they are in harmony with the land, they can bring benefits over a thousand miles. On the fourth heavenly stem day, Jiyou, it is the general star, and it is auspicious when using the four metals.

『室』禽在天號「雲漢星」，其宿有六星，位居雙魚，幷州衛國分野。乃地禽，即□也。犬喜雪，馬喜風，豕喜雨，故天將雨，則□進沙水。觀孔子於《大畜》之五爻曰：有慶也。《禮》曰：羊曰柔毛，豕曰剛□。羊柔於毛也，豕剛於畜也。

《說文》：巳像蛇之形，亥豕之形。蓋陽生子，至巳而六陽備；一陰生於午，至亥而六陰備。故此二字皆象形也。巳，蛇也。亥，豕也。故子夏過衛，有讀史者曰：三家渡河。夏曰，非也，是巳亥也。《林氏小說》曰：以其食不潔，故名之曰豕，乃無仁無義，性能惡也。已四季得地，日遊夜伏。遇一元甲午為將星，利用四木時吉。

Therefore, when Zi Xia passed through the state of Wei, he heard someone reading historical texts that said "three families crossed the river." Zi Xia said: that is incorrect; it should be a mistake of "Si Hai." The Lin氏 novel says: because it eats unclean things, it is named "shi," which is an animal without benevolence or righteousness, and its nature is capable of doing evil. It has the land in all four seasons, moving during the day and hiding at night ("already having the land in all four seasons" the character "yi" should be "si" or it is a redundant character). On the first day of the Jia Wu cycle, the general star appears, and it is auspicious when using the four wooden hours.

『壁』禽在天曰「文章星」，其宿有二星，位居雙魚，幷州衛國分野。乃水禽，是獺也。其狀似狐而尾大，藏於坑圳之中，乃西方白虎之屬，水居魚食。《孟子》所謂為淵驅魚者，獺也。亦自祭其先。《說》曰：然亦知報本反始，無非獺者也。日伏不出，夜則遊食，喜天寒暗雨。直五元己卯為將星，利局四金時吉。

Its shape resembles a fox but has a large tail, and it hides in ditches and canals. It belongs to the category of the White Tiger, living in water and feeding on fish. The passage in Mencius, "Lilou Shang" which says "to bring fish to the deep pool," refers to the otter. After catching fish, the otter arranges them to worship its ancestors. Commentators say: this shows that it also understands gratitude and remembers its origin, and no otter is without this trait. It hides during the day and comes out at night to hunt, preferring cold weather and rainy days. On the fifth element day of Ji Mao, it is favorable to use the four metal hours for auspiciousness (the term "li ju" should be "li yong").

When it falls in the亥 position, it is called "狳失伏藏" (the first character is missing, and it should be "狳"); when it falls in the卯 position, it is called "比用落濠"; when it falls in the未 position, it is called "伏殃荒野".

『奎』禽在天號「華蓋星」，其宿有六星，位居白羊，徐州魯國分野。乃山禽，是豺狼也。凡將遠食必先倒立，所以卜向。故今獵師遇狼輒喜，蓋狼之所向，獸之所在也。《記》曰：狼亦禽也，乃能獲禽，而能勝其類，又知時祭，可謂才矣。四季得地，日伏夜遊，喜天寒雲霧。直二元甲子為將星，利用四水時吉。

The constellation Kuixu is known in the sky as the "Huogai Star," and this constellation has six stars, located in the constellation Aries. On earth, it corresponds to the region of Xu Prefecture and Lu State. It represents a mountain animal, which is the wolf. Whenever it goes to a distant place to hunt, it first stands on its hind legs to determine the direction. Therefore, nowadays hunters are happy when they meet a wolf, because the direction the wolf faces is where the wild animals are. The "Rites of Zhou" says: the wolf is also an animal, yet it can capture other animals and surpass its own kind, and it knows the proper time for worship. It can be said to have ability. It thrives in all four seasons, hides during the day and roams at night, and prefers cold weather and mist. On the second Jiazi day, which is the day of the general star, it is auspicious to use the four waters.

元：戌宮。合：房。食百獸。畏：畢、井、尾、箕。四季旺。泊申「綴花結子」，泊子「鏡掛妝臺」（化龍）。泊辰曰「慶會風雲」（化鰲食角亢尾箕）。

When it falls in the Shen position, it is called 'Zhu Hua Jie Zi'; when it falls in the Zi position, it is called 'Jing Guang Chuan Tai', and it transforms into a dragon; when it falls in the Chen position, it is called 'Qing Hui Feng Yun', and it transforms into an ao, capable of devouring the birds of the Jiao, Kang, Wei, and Ji mansions.

『婁』禽在天號「天劍星」，其宿有三星，位居白羊，徐州魯國分野。乃地禽，即狗也。《孔子》曰：狗者，叩也，叩氣吠以守也。《莊子》曰：狗不以善吠為良爾。《屈子》曰：邑犬□吠吠所怪也。其性雖猛，四季得地。遇夜則吠，以衛主義也。喜風雲霧露吉。直五元己酉為將星，利用四土時吉。

The celestial mansion of Lou is known in the sky as the "Heavenly Sword Star," which originally consists of three stars located in the constellation Aries. On earth, it corresponds to the region of Xu Prefecture and Lu State. It is a terrestrial animal, which is the dog. An old attribution attributed to Confucius says that the dog is called "kou," which means to knock or strike, as it barks to guard the family gate. The "Zhuangzi" says that a good dog is not necessarily one that barks well. Qu Yuan's "Jiu Zhang" says that dogs in the village bark in groups because they are startled by strange things ("yi quan xun fei" where the missing character is supposed to be "group"). Although its nature is fierce, it is suitable for all four seasons. It barks at night to guard its master, which is its virtue. It is auspicious if it likes wind, clouds, mist, and dew. It is favorable on the fifth heavenly stem earth day, Jiyou, when the general star is in position, and when using the four earths.

It fears the Tail fire tiger, the Ji water leopard, the Kui wood wolf, and the Well wood dog. The Huagai is located in the Xu position. Its strength is prominent in spring, autumn, and winter, but it declines in summer. When it falls in the巳 position, it is called 'Casting Seal and Imperial Kitchen'; when it falls in the酉 position, it is called 'Drilling Well to Seek Spring Water'; when it falls in the丑 position, it is called 'Heavenly Granary and Food'.

『胃』禽在天曰「諫宮星」，其宿有三星，位居金牛，冀州趙國分野。乃山禽，即雉□也。《薛宗》曰：雉之健者為鷮尾長六尺，鷮走且鳴，行止不能自舍，女有取節爾。故詩以為淑女之譬，而又與鷩見之義。名雖等雉，類有不同，則其取擬象亦因以異者，王后翬衣，夫人揄公之服，自驚冕之下。是禽四季得地，乃中央鎮星，伏藏茆岡，日遊夜伏者也。有老而成精變化，攬水塘，喜天陰。遇二元甲午為將星，利用四火時吉。

This mansion has three stars, located in the constellation Taurus, and corresponds to the region of Ji Zhou's Zhao State on earth. It is a mountain bird, which is a wild chicken (the missing character in "Zhi" should be "ji"). Xue Zong said: among the pheasants, the strongest is called "Jiao," with a tail six feet long; Jiao runs and calls while moving, unable to restrain itself, but women take its meaning of upholding virtue. Therefore, the "Book of Songs" uses it to symbolize a virtuous woman, and there is also the symbolic meaning of "Yi."
