The "Mao Star Lesson" is a category established among the Four Lessons when there is neither mutual overcoming nor remote overcoming. The method of using this lesson is specifically based on the metal of酉 (You). On a yang day, one takes the heavenly stem that is located on the Earthly Branch position of酉 (You) on the Heaven Plate. For example, if the heavenly stem of申 (Shen) is on the Earthly Branch position of酉 (You), then 申 (Shen) is used as the initial transmission. The middle transmission is taken from the Earthly Branch added to the day's Earthly Branch, and the final transmission is taken from the Earthly Branch on the day's Heavenly Stem. On a yin day, the process is reversed; one takes the Earthly Branch that is under the Heaven Plate's酉 (You). For example, if the Heaven Plate's酉 (You) is on the Earthly Branch position of戌 (Xu), then 戌 (Xu) is used as the initial transmission. The middle transmission is taken from the Earthly Branch on the day's Heavenly Stem, and the final transmission is taken from the Earthly Branch on the day's Earthly Branch. Additionally, if the "Mao Star Lesson" is initiated by "Teng Snake," it is called "Winter Snake Covering Eyes." In winter, the snake closes its eyes and remains dormant, unable to harm, thus the danger is naturally resolved.

The昴Star Divination for predicting good or bad fortune within the year (Jiashen year, first lunar month, Dinghai day)

In the year of Jiashen, after the beginning of spring in the first lunar month, the month general is "Shenhou" (Heavenly Empress) in the zodiac sign of Zi. The divination is made on the day of Dinghai and the hour of Jiyou, which falls within the Jiashen decade (the empty period is in Wu and Wei). The divination concerns the fortune and misfortune within this year. The lesson pattern is "Mao Xing" and "Yan Shang" — the three transmissions form a fire trinity with the signs of Yin, Wu, and Xu. The month general Zi is placed on the hour sign You. The four lessons are: Ding is placed in the sign of Wei, with Wu on top, forming the first lesson (Wu is riding "Heavenly Empress"); Wu has Chou on top, forming the second lesson (Chou is riding "Tai Chang"); the day sign Hai has Yin on top, forming the third lesson (Yin is riding "White Tiger"); Yin has Si on top, forming the fourth lesson (Si is riding "Gou Chen"). The three transmissions are: the first transmission is Wu (riding "Liu He", representing brothers, which falls in the empty period on the day of Ding), the middle transmission is Xu (hidden stem Bingxu, riding "Heavenly Empress", representing children), and the final transmission is Yin (hidden stem Gengyin, riding "White Tiger", representing official seal).

Wu Shiqing explained: Xu is the tomb deity but placed on the day stem. Yin is riding the White Tiger and also located on the day branch. In the year of Shen, the Mourning-and-Condolence spirit is in Xu and the visitor is in Wu, both entering the three transmissions. The final transmission's Yin, which is also the year of Shen's offending deity, is riding the White Tiger—this year there must be worries of military defeat and loss of life. Gou Chen and You Du are both in Si and placed on the earth plate's Yin position: Yin is the upper deity of the day branch, and Si is the hidden deity of the day branch; the hidden deity refers to the upper deity of the day branch further up, which is the branch on the earth plate. The area of Youyan is exactly at the position of Yin and Mao, and Yin is the tomb deity of the Hai branch. Si is the hidden evil spirit of the first month. This area is bound to suffer from military calamity. Moreover, the position of Yin with Si, You Du turns to offend the sovereign, which is unfavorable to the ruler. The deity on the day stem—the deity on the Wu position, which is the heaven plate's Chou— is the hidden deity of the day stem, which also offends the Hai branch of the day branch, indicating military rebellion in the northwest, since Xu is located in the northwest.

The method of determining the deities used in this lesson is as follows. The Mourning-and-Condolence spirit (Sangmen) is calculated by counting from the heavenly stem (Tai Sui) in the forward direction to the third position. The Guest spirit (Diaoke) is calculated by counting from the heavenly stem (Tai Sui) in the reverse direction to the third position. The Wandering Capital (You Du) is determined according to the day stem: on Jia day, it is Chou; on Yi day, it is Zi; on Bing day, it is Yin; on Ding day, it is Mao; on Wu day, it is Chen; on Ji day, it is Chou; on Geng day, it is Zi; on Xin day, it is Yin; on Ren day, it is Mao; on Gui day, it is Chen. The Yin Evil spirit (Yin Sha) is determined according to the month: in the first month, it is Si; in the second month, it is Mao; in the third month, it is Yin; in the fourth month, it is Chou; in the fifth month, it is Zi; in the sixth month, it is Hai; in the seventh month, it is Xu; in the eighth month, it is You; in the ninth month, it is Shen; in the tenth month, it is Wei; in the eleventh month, it is Wu; in the twelfth month, it is Chen. This lesson is cast in the first month, so the Yin Evil spirit is in Si, which coincides with the position of the Wandering Capital.

Nine, Separate Responsibility (Also called Incomplete)

"Alternative Responsibility" is also known as "Incomplete Lesson." It occurs when the first and last of the four lessons are the same, or the second and third are the same, resulting in only three lessons, hence called incomplete. This type of lesson, like the昴 star, has neither thief nor remote control, and does not form patterns such as repeated review, original head, comparison, involvement, knowledge of one, or remote control. The difference between the two lies only in the number of lessons: those with all four lessons are classified under the昴 star, while those with only three are called incomplete, and the method of using them is called Alternative Responsibility. On a yang day, the lesson is formed by taking the branch where the stem that combines with the day stem is located, and the upper god on that branch is used as the initial transmission. For example, if the day stem is Wu (戊), which is yang, Wu combines with Gui (癸), and Gui is located on the branch Chou (丑), so the upper god on the Chou branch is used as the initial transmission. On a yin day, the lesson is formed by taking the first branch of the triple harmony of the day branch, without considering the overlying god. For example, in the triple harmonies of Si-You-Chou and Hai-Mao-Wei, on Si day, use You; on You day, use Chou; on Chou day, use Si; on Hai day, use Mao; on Mao day, use Wei; on Wei day, use Hai. The middle and final transmissions are the same regardless of yin or yang, and are taken from the upper god on the day stem. Lessons of the Alternative Responsibility type have the weakest power, and are generally not effective in divination, but are favorable for defensive strategies.

Divination for the Next Day: Will There Be Snow? (Dingchou Year, Twelfth Month, Dingyou Day)

In the year Dingchou, during the twelfth lunar month after the winter solstice, the month general is "Da Ji" (Great Favor) on the Chou branch. The divination is made on the day Dingyou and the time Guimao, which belongs to the Jiawu decade (the empty branches are in Chen and Si). The reason for the divination is that after snowfall, the sky was dark and cloudy, and the question is whether it will snow again tomorrow. The lesson pattern is "Bie Ze" (Differentiation of Responsibility). The month general Chou is placed on the branch Mao of the time. The four lessons are: Ding is placed in the Wei branch, with Si on top of Wei, forming the first lesson (Si is riding "Tian Kong"); Si has Mao on top, forming the second lesson (Mao is riding "Gou Chen"); the day branch You has Wei on top, forming the third lesson (Wei is riding "Tai Chang"); Wei again has Si on top, forming the fourth lesson, which is the same as the first, so only three lessons are formed, making it incomplete, and thus "Bie Ze" is used to determine the divination. The three transmissions are: the first transmission is Chou (hidden stem Xinchou, riding "Zhu Que", which is the grandson for the day Ding); the second transmission is Si (riding "Tian Kong", which is the peer, and it falls in the empty branch); the third transmission is still Si.

Master Wu Shiqing interpreted: Tomorrow not only will not snow, but the sun will also appear. This is because the god of the sun is at the initiating transmission, and it is accompanied by the Vermilion Bird, which is the essence of the southern fire. Moreover, the three transmissions and four lessons are all yin branches. When yin reaches its extreme, yang energy naturally arises, so the weather will definitely clear up. On the day of Geng, at the hour of Wei, a strong wind will arise, because You is the wind demon and Wei is the wind god, and the two gods combine. Furthermore, the luck of the day of Ding is at Wu, and Wu is occupied by the White Tiger, which is added to the position of Geng. The upper and lower parts mutually control and fight, hence the wind will appear as a response.

Regarding the Wind煞, predecessors have two methods of calculation: one starts from the first month with the branch Yin and proceeds in reverse order through the twelve branches; the other follows the example of the Wind God, starting from the first month with the branch Shen and proceeding in reverse order through the twelve branches. Generally, the common practice is to start from the first month with the branch Yin and proceed in reverse. As for this particular case: after the Winter Solstice, the sun reaches the branch Chou, and the Vermilion Bird is precisely on Chou. Therefore, it is predicted that wind will arise at the hour of Wei on a day of Geng. The reason for mentioning the day of Geng is that Geng is associated with You, and You is the Wind煞. The reason for mentioning the hour of Wei is that Wei is the Wind God, and the two deities You and Wei meet at that hour, hence the wind occurs at that time.

The method of determining the position of Feng Bo (Wind God) by month is: in the first month, it is in Shen; second month, Wei; third month, Wu; fourth month, Si; fifth month, Chen; sixth month, Mao; seventh month, Yin; eighth month, Chou; ninth month, Zi; tenth month, Hai; eleventh month, Xu; twelfth month, You. However, there are three different methods for determining Feng Bo: one uses Wei exclusively as Feng Bo, another follows the above table, and the third follows the example of Feng Sha (Wind Harm). Generally, using Wei is most common, followed by the method of starting from Shen in the first month and moving counterclockwise through the twelve branches. Feng Sha follows the monthly positions: in the first month, it is in Yin; second month, Chou; third month, Zi; fourth month, Hai; fifth month, Xu; sixth month, You; seventh month, Shen; eighth month, Wei; ninth month, Wu; tenth month, Si; eleventh month, Chen; twelfth month, Mao. According to the above method of Feng Bo, this book actually uses Wei exclusively as Feng Bo and does not follow the table.

Ten, Hidden Chant Divination

A "Hidden Chant" lesson occurs when the Month General is exactly the same as the initial hour, all deities return to their original positions, and the Heaven Plate and Earth Plate completely coincide. In such a lesson, if there is no conflict, on a Yang day, the branch on the Day Stem is taken as the Initiating Transmission. Then, the branch that is刑ed by the Initial Transmission is taken as the Middle Transmission, and the branch that is刑ed by the Middle Transmission is taken as the Final Transmission. For example, if the Initial Transmission is Zi, which刑es Mao, then Mao is the Middle Transmission; if Mao again刑es Zi, then Zi is the Final Transmission. Another example is if the Initial Transmission is Yin, which刑es Si, then Si is the Middle Transmission; if Si again刑es Shen, then Shen is the Final Transmission. The first example is "two刑," and the second is "three刑." If the Initial Transmission itself is a self刑 branch, then on a Yang day, the branch on the Day Stem is still taken as the Middle Transmission, and on a Yin day, the branch on the Day Branch is taken as the Middle Transmission. The Final Transmission is still taken as the branch刑ed by the Middle Transmission. If the Middle Transmission is also a self刑, then the Final Transmission is taken as the branch opposite to the Middle Transmission. All the above examples are for cases without conflict, and for Yin days, the same logic applies. For example, Bingchen is a Yang day, and the branch on the Bing Stem is Si, with no conflict between the stem and branch, so Si is the Initial Transmission. Si刑es Shen, so Shen is the Middle Transmission; Shen刑es Yin, so Yin is the Final Transmission, which is the method of three刑. Another example is Xinmao, a Yin day, where the branch on the Xin Stem is Xu, and there is no conflict between the stem and branch, so the branch on the Day Branch, which is Mao, is taken as the Initiating Transmission. Mao刑es Zi, so Zi is the Middle Transmission; Zi again刑es Mao, so Mao is the Final Transmission, which is the method of two刑.

So how to determine the initiating transmission in a case of hidden chant with a conflict? Still take the branch that is overcome by the day stem as the initiating transmission, and the middle and final transmissions are determined by the punishments as usual. If the first transmission is self-punishment, then on a yang day, the middle transmission still takes the branch on the day stem, and the final transmission takes the branch that is punished by the middle transmission. For example, if the day is Yiyou (Yi and You), which is a yin day, the god on the Yi stem is Chen. Chen is overcome by the wood of Yi, so Chen is the first transmission. However, Chen is self-punishing, so the middle transmission is changed according to the yin day rule to take the day branch You. But You is also self-punishing, so the final transmission takes the branch that conflicts with You, which is Mao. The rest are handled in a similar way. Hidden chant divination is used to predict the whereabouts of a person who has run away, a thief, or lost property, and it indicates that the person or object is not far away. If the nobleman moves in the forward direction, look for him one position before the day branch. If the nobleman moves in the reverse direction, look for him one position after the day branch. Those who have already passed are considered as before, and those who are about to come are considered as after.

Hidden Chant Divination · Divination for the Sixth and First (Gengchen Year, Third Month, Xinmao Day)

In the year Gengchen, third month, after Qingming, the month general is "River Chief" Xu. The divination is made on the day Xinmao and time Bingxu. It belongs to the Jiashen decade, with the empty position in Wu and Wei. The question is about pregnancy. The lesson pattern is "Hidden Chant" and "Dragon and Tiger." The month general Xu is placed directly on the time Xu, with the heaven plate and earth plate in the same position and not moving, thus forming a Hidden Chant. The four lessons are: Xin is placed in the Xu palace, and Xu remains on Xu, forming the first lesson (Xu with Tai Chang); Xu remains on Xu, forming the second lesson; the day branch Maos remains on Mao, forming the third and fourth lessons (Mao with Teng Snake). The three transmissions are: initial transmission is Mao (hidden heavenly stem Xinmao, with Teng Snake, representing wife's wealth on the Xin day), middle transmission is Zi (hidden heavenly stem Wuzi, with Tai Yin, representing son and daughter), and final transmission is again Mao.

Wu Shiqing explained: This must certainly be a case of twins, and both are boys, who will be born on the day of Xu in the eighth month at the hour of Chen. Both mother and child will be safe. How do we know it is twins? Because Mao is the fetal deity of Xin Metal, and now the lesson is formed by hidden chant, with Mao on top of Mao, two layers of fetal deities overlapping, and accompanied by the vigorous energy of spring, so we conclude it is twins and both mother and child are safe and auspicious. How do we know both are boys? Mao belongs to Zhen in the Eight Trigrams, and Zhen represents the eldest son; additionally, the day stem is Xu, which is 'He Kuai', symbolizing the image of Qian Palace, also indicating a male. How do we know they will be born in the eighth month? Because the month builder of the eighth month is You, which directly opposes Mao, the fetal deity. We say the day is Xu because Xu is the nurturing deity; we say the hour is Chen because Chen opposes the day stem Xu.

The explanation here states that the nurturing of the spirit in the戌 (Xu) is not referring to the nurturing of the spirit on a 辛 (Xin) day, but rather the nurturing of the spirit in the 卯 (Mao) branch. One must wait until the辰 (Chen) hour to冲 (conflict) the戌 (Xu) on the day stem, thereby exciting the nurturing of the spirit in the 卯 (Mao) branch. Therefore, it is fixed at the辰 (Chen) hour. Later scholars added another explanation: since the辰 (Chen) hour can also excite the nurturing of the spirit in the 卯 (Mao) branch, it can be directly regarded as the nurturing of the spirit on a 辛 (Xin) day. The conclusion remains the same, that it is the辰 (Chen) hour.

Hidden Chant Divination for Disease (Jichou Year August · Gengxu Day)

In the year of Jichou, in the eighth lunar month after the beginning of autumn, the month general is "Shengguang" (Winning Light) at the hour of Wu. The divination is made on the day of Gengxu and the hour of Renwu, which falls in the Jiachen decade (the empty branch is in Yin and Mao). The question concerns illness. The lesson pattern is "Fuyin" (Hidden Chant) and "Xuaitai" (Black Tortoise's Embryo). The month general Wu is directly placed on the hour of Wu, with the heavens and earth disks overlapping and remaining still. The four lessons are: Geng is placed in the Sheng palace, with Sheng still on Sheng, forming the first lesson (Sheng is occupied by Teng Snake); Sheng is again on Sheng, forming the second lesson; the day branch Wu is still on Wu, forming the third and fourth lessons (Wu is occupied by Xuanwu). The three transmissions are: the first transmission is Sheng (the hidden stem is Wu Sheng, occupied by Baihu, representing brothers on the day of Geng); the middle transmission is Yin (occupied by Teng Snake, representing wife and wealth, falling into the empty branch); the final transmission is Si (the hidden stem is Yi Si, occupied by Gou Chen, representing official star).

Wu Shiqing explained: This divination is most unfavorable for predicting illness, and the person will surely die on Dingsi day. Why? Shen is both the禄神 of Geng and theThe Post-horse of Xu day, and both have entered the three transmissions and initiated the transmission. The middle transmission's Yin is exactly the绝地 of Geng day, and it also falls in the旬空. The patient encountering the驿马 indicates a sign of the spirit leaving the body. The three transmissions also form a 'XuTai', suggesting the main focus is on rebirth elsewhere. Shen rides the White Tiger and initiates the transmission on the day, while Si acts as an official ghost to attack the day stem. Moreover, the three transmissions lack the Tianyi, so it is concluded that the person will die on Dingsi day.

Here is the heavenly shaman deity, which is the star governing medicine. It moves in order through the months: in the first month it is in Chen, in the second in Si, in the third in Wu, in the fourth in Wei, in the fifth in Shen, in the sixth in You, in the seventh in Xu, in the eighth in Hai, in the ninth in Zi, in the tenth in Chou, in the eleventh in Yin, and in the twelfth in Mao. This divination was performed in the eighth month, so the heavenly shaman should be in Hai. However, the three transmissions are in Shen, Yin, and Si, and the heavenly shaman is not among them. Therefore, it is said that there is no Tianyi in the transmission, and the illness cannot be cured.

Eleventh, the Returning Echo Lesson.

The "returning echo" divination is when the hour stem is added to the opposite hour branch, such as Zi added to Wu, Mao added to You. In this type of divination, the heavenly stems are each placed on the position opposite to themselves on the Heaven Plate. If the number of conflicting positions is small, the method of repeated review and original head is used; if the number of conflicting positions is large, the method of knowing one and involving harm is used. The three transmissions in this case are such that the first and last transmissions are the same branch, while the middle transmission is exactly opposite to both. On days with the stems Dingwei, Jiwei, Xingwei, Dingchou, Jichou, and Xinchou, there are no conflicts in the four lessons, which is called "no support." In such cases, the initial transmission is determined by the branch of the day, using the "well frame" position that is opposite to the day branch. The middle transmission is the god riding on the day branch, and the final transmission is the god riding on the day stem. The well frame refers to the pairs of conflicting positions: Chou and Si, Wei and Hai. The returning echo divination indicates that matters are uncertain and unstable, with constant changes and restlessness.

In the year of Jia Xu, during the second lunar month after the spring equinox, the month general is "River Chief" (He Qiu)戌. The divination is made on the day of Wu Chen and the time of Bing Chen, which falls within the Jia Zi decade (the empty branch is in Xu and Hai). The subject of the divination is official rank and reputation. The lesson pattern is "Reverse Echo" and "Black Tortoise Embryo." The month general戌 is placed on the time of the divination, and the heaven and earth disks each conflict with each other, thus forming the pattern of "Reverse Echo." The four lessons are: Wu is placed in the Si palace, with Si riding on Hai, forming the first lesson (Hai rides on the Vermilion Bird); Hai is placed on Si, forming the second lesson (Si rides on Tai Chang); the day branch Chen is placed on Wu, forming the third lesson (Wu rides on Liu He); and Wu is placed on Chen, forming the fourth lesson (Chen rides on the Black Tortoise). The three transmissions are: the first transmission is Si (hidden stem Ji Si, riding on Tai Chang, representing parents on the day of Wu); the middle transmission is Hai (riding on the Vermilion Bird, representing wife and wealth, falling into the empty branch); and the final transmission is again Si.

Wu Shiqing interpreted the divination: In the past, when I have divined for people regarding academic success, I have mostly not predicted that they would pass, but this person is certainly destined to achieve a high rank. Someone asked why, and I explained that on a Wu day, the return rhyme is formed. The巳 is the daily virtue of Wu and is placed on the亥, which is exactly the "virtue entering the heavenly gate." Moreover, it is also the initiating transmission of the three transmissions. Furthermore, the丑 is the yang nobleman of Wu, and the未 is its yin nobleman on the earth plate. Now the丑 is placed on the未 position, and the two noblemen are exactly meeting. The辰 is the "dou gang" and also the five ghosts of the second month. The combination of "dou" and "ghost" forms the character "kuai." Therefore, I concluded that he will certainly achieve a high rank. As for the aspects of conflict, overcoming, generation, and emptiness, there is no need to be doubtful, for this divination clearly shows the image of receiving the grace of the sage. When the list was published, the three sons of the Wang family came to visit, and it was then known that this divination was for Mr. Zhou Zhonglian from Changxing.

This lesson, although a reverse rhyme, still follows the method of involving harm. The five ghosts are selected according to the month: in the first month they are in Wu, in the second in Chen, in the third in Yin, in the fourth in You, in the fifth in Mao, in the sixth in Shen, in the seventh in Chou, in the eighth in Si, in the ninth in Zi, in the tenth in Hai, in the eleventh in Wei, and in the twelfth in Xu. This lesson is cast in the second month, so the five ghosts are in Chen, which is the same position as the "dou gang," forming the image of the character "kui."

Twelve, Eight Special Lessons

The "Eight Special Lessons" refer to lessons where the day stem and day branch reside in the same palace. For example, on a Dingwei day, the Ding stem is located in the Wei position, so the stem and branch are in the same palace, resulting in four lessons being combined into two. If there is a conflict within the lesson, it is still resolved using the three methods of thief conflict, ratio use, and involvement of harm. If there is no heavenly stem conflicting with the day stem, the method of remote conflict is not used, because the stem and branch are in the same position, so there is no concept of "remote." In such cases, the special method of the Eight Special Lessons is used: on a yang day, start from the yang god on the day stem and count forward to the third position; on a yin day, start from the yin god on the day branch and count backward to the third position. The resulting god is the initiating transmission. As for the middle transmission and final transmission, they are both taken from the god that resides on the day stem. The Eight Special Lessons indicate issues of improper sexual behavior between men and women.

What is meant by "a yang day follows the yang spirit on the day stem, counting forward three positions"? For example, if the day stem is Geng (庚), which is a yang day, and the day branch is Chou (丑), then Chou is the yang spirit on the day stem. Starting from Chou and counting forward three positions leads to Mao (卯), so Mao is used as the initiating transmission. What is meant by "a yin day follows the yin spirit on the day branch, counting backward three positions"? For example, if the day is Dingwei (丁未), which is a yin day, and the day branch is Wei (未), then the yin spirit on the day branch is Chen (辰), and on Chen we add Chou (丑), which is the yin spirit of Wei. Starting from Chou and counting backward three positions leads to Hai (亥), so Hai is used as the initiating transmission. The rest follows the same pattern.

Eight Special Lessons · Divination on Achieving Official Rank (Xinwei Year Fourth Month · Jiwei Day)

In the year Xinwei, in the fourth lunar month after the beginning of summer, the month general is "Conggui" (from the酉 branch). On the day Jiwei and at the hour Wuchen, a divination is made concerning official rank. It belongs to the Jiayin cycle (the empty branch is Zi and Chou). The lesson pattern is "Ba Zhuang" (Eight Special), "Jue Si" (No Successor), and "Zhu Yin" (Casting the Seal). The heavenly stem Ji is placed in the branch Wei, and the day branch is also Wei, so the heavenly stem and branch are in the same position, forming the pattern "Ba Zhuang". The four lessons are: Ji is placed in Wei, and the branch Wei is occupied by Zi, forming the first lesson (Zi is accompanied by the nobleman). Zi is then occupied by Si, forming the second lesson (Si is accompanied by the white tiger). The third and fourth lessons are the same as the first two. The three transmissions are: the first transmission is Si (hidden stem Dingsi, accompanied by the white tiger, representing parents), the middle transmission is Xu (hidden stem Renxu, accompanied by the vermilion bird, representing brothers), and the final transmission is Mao (hidden stem Yimao, accompanied by the black tortoise, representing official ghosts).

Wu Shiqing interpreted the divination: Officials who receive this divination will be transferred within this month, but they will not hold the position for long. Why? The month builder for April is on Si, and Si is also occupied by the White Tiger. Moreover, Si is theThe Post-horse position for the day of Wei, so the three elements are combined at the initiating transmission, naturally creating strong influence. Furthermore, Wu is placed on Si, forming the casting seal, and the casting seal is also riding the轩车, which means riding the post-horse, so it definitely indicates promotion. Unfortunately, the nobleman is located on Kongwang, causing harm, so it is difficult to hold the position for long. Later events confirmed the prediction. The eight special elements of this divination are used according to the method of involving harm.

The method for determining the禄神 (favorable position) is as follows: Jia's禄 is in寅; Yi's禄 is originally in卯, but it resides in辰 instead; Bing and Wu's禄 are in巳; Ding and Ji's禄 are originally in午, but they reside in未 instead; Geng's禄 is in申; Xin's禄 is originally in酉, but it resides in戌 instead; Ren's禄 is in亥; and Gui's禄 is originally in子, but it resides in丑 instead. The禄 refers to the officialdom position of the Five Phases. Yang heavenly stems have strength, while Yin heavenly stems are actually weak, so Yang stems occupy the officialdom positions of寅,申,巳, and亥, while Yin stems actually fall into the capping positions of辰,戌,丑, and未. As for the method of determining theThe Post-horse (post-horse), in the water triad of申,子,辰, theThe Post-horse is in寅; in the fire triad of寅,午,戌, theThe Post-horse is in申; in the wood triad of亥,卯,未, theThe Post-horse is in巳; and in the metal triad of巳,酉,丑, theThe Post-horse is in亥.

Eight Special Lessons · Divination for Official Rank (Xinsi Year October · Jiwei Day)

In the year Xinsi, during the tenth month after the Minor Snow festival, the month general is "Gongcao" (寅). On the day Jiwei and at the hour Guiyou, a divination is made concerning official rank. This is in the Jiayin cycle (the empty branch is Zi and Chou). The divination concerns official rank. The lesson pattern is "Ba Zhuang" (Eight Special), "Zhu Yin" (Casting Seal), and "Jue Si" (No Successor). The four lessons are: Ji is placed on Wei, and the day branch is also Wei, with Wei bearing Zi, forming the first lesson (Zi riding the Nobleman). Zi bearing Si forms the second lesson (Si riding the White Tiger). The third and fourth lessons are the same as the first two. The three transmissions are: the first transmission is Si (hidden stem Dingsi, riding the White Tiger, representing parents on the day Ji); the middle transmission is Xu (hidden stem Renxu, riding the Vermilion Bird, representing brothers); the final transmission is Mao (hidden stem Yimao, riding Tai Yin, representing official ghosts).

Wu Shiqing interpreted: By the time of the middle of winter, there will certainly be signs of revival and official appointment. Someone asked: How do you know that? Although the nobleman on the day stem falls into kongwang, it is fortunate that the nobleman belongs to earth and is located on the earth of wu, thus receiving a rising energy. When the middle of winter arrives, the water of zi takes command, filling the旬空. Moreover, the white tiger is on si, and si is also the post-horse of wei day. The initiating transmission god also serves as the sovereign year to be born with the day stem. The tomb of ji day is in chou, and chou is placed on shen position, which is the long life of ji day; the tomb of wei day is in chen, and chen is placed on hai position, which is the long life of wei day. These are all signs of something that was abandoned and now revived. How can there be any doubt about getting an official position? Later, it indeed happened. Anyone who has an official position and receives this lesson will certainly be promoted, transferred, and have an audience with the emperor. In the following winter, he was recommended and appointed as an official in the Bureau of Vehicles under the Ministry of War.

This lesson's eight specialities are determined using the same method as the involved harm approach. The method for determining the day'sStorage is as follows: for Jia day, the墓 is in Wu; for Yi day, it is in Xu; for Bing day, it is in Xu; for Ding day, it is in Chou; for Wu day, it is in Xu; for Ji day, it is in Chou; for Geng day, it is in Chou; for Xin day, it is in Chen; for Ren day, it is in Chen; for Gui day, it is in Wu. This is theStorage for the ten heavenly stems derived according to the yin and yang order. As for the branch墓, the original text lists only the twelve earthly branches and their corresponding Yixing, but omits the墓 positions. These can be determined by the triple harmony method: the water triple harmony of Shen, Zi, and Chen has its墓 in Chen; the wood triple harmony of Hai, Mao, and Wei has its墓 in Wei; the fire triple harmony of Yin, Wu, and Xu has its墓 in Xu; and the metal triple harmony of Si, You, and Chou has its墓 in Chou.

Eight Special Courses · Divination on the Safety and Peril of a City (Jiashen Year Fourth Month · Gengshen Day)

In the year of Jiashen, in the fourth lunar month after the beginning of summer, the month general is "Congkui" on the酉 branch. The divination is made on the day of Gengshen and the hour of Gengchen, belonging to the Jiayin decade (the empty branches are Zi and Chou). The subject of the divination is safety and danger. The lesson pattern is "Ba zhuang" — Geng is placed in the Shen branch, and the day branch is also Shen, so the heavenly stem and earthly branch are in the same position. The month general酉 is placed on the hour of divination. The four lessons are: the first lesson is on Shen with Chou, which is the first lesson (Chou is accompanied by the nobleman); the second lesson is on Chou with Wu, which is the second lesson (Wu is accompanied by the white tiger); the third and fourth lessons are the same as the first two. The three transmissions are: the first transmission is卯 (the hidden stem is Yi卯, accompanied by Tai Yin, representing wife and wealth on the day of Geng); the second transmission is丑 (accompanied by the nobleman, representing parents, which is in the empty branch); the third transmission is still丑.

Wu Shiqing interpreted the divination: the enemy troops will emerge from the western mountains with a surprise attack, first attacking the southwest and then the northeast, and there will be a sudden disaster. Why? The卯 (Mao) is the symbol of the enemy and is placed on the戌 (Xu) to initiate the transmission. This leads to a reverse attack on the middle and final transmissions, and the day stem and day branch are both multiplied by the two noblemen. The未 (Wei) is occupied by the Tian Kong, which is located on the寅 (Yin), indicating that this area has weak defenses, and the enemy will certainly take advantage of the weakness. The hidden spirit of the day stem and day branch is午 (Wu), and the White Tiger is located on the午 (Wu) to attack the stem and branch. Later, Li Zicheng indeed attacked the city, and some people in the city opened the gates to surrender, while the former emperor committed suicide and died for his country.

This lesson uses the method of eight special techniques. Why is the first attack directed to the southwest? Because the "sky" is precisely located at the position of Wei. Why is the second attack directed to the northeast? Because Wei is both empty and placed on Yin, and Yin is precisely located in the northeast.

Eight Special Lessons: Traveling Far with Wife and Children (Gengyin Year Fifth Month · Gengshen Day)

In the year of Gengyin, in the fifth lunar month after the Grain in Ear, the month general is determined as Shen by the method of transmission. The divination is made on the day of Gengshen and the hour of Dingchou, which falls in the Jiayin decade (the empty branches are Zi and Chou). The question is about the fortune of traveling with wife and children. The lesson pattern is "Eight Special" and "Discontinuation of Offspring." The month general Shen is placed on the branch Chou of the day. The four lessons are: Geng is placed in Shen, and the day branch is also Shen, with the branch Mao on top of Shen, forming the first lesson (Mao is ridden by Tai Yin); the branch Xu is on top of Mao, forming the second lesson (Xu is ridden by Liu He); the third and fourth lessons are the same as the first two. The three transmissions are: the first transmission is Xu (ridden by Liu He, representing parents), the middle transmission is Si (ridden by Tai Chang, representing official stars), and the final transmission is Zi (ridden by Teng Snake, representing children, which is exactly on the empty branch).

Master Wu Shiqing explained: This family's men and women will not have a smooth journey when traveling far away. They will be robbed on the way, die in a foreign land, and also face the danger of falling from a boat or drowning in water. Why? For the man, the day stem is Geng, which resides in Shen and takes Shen as his body. Now Shen is placed in the Chou palace - Geng's body enters Chou, which is both Geng's storage place and also falls in the旬空. For the woman, the day branch is Shen, which is also placed in Chou, so it is also in storage and in the旬空. The middle transmission is Si, which is the Jiesha for Shen day, and it is a reverse刑 that harms the day branch. The final transmission is Zi, which is Geng's death place, while Si is Geng's growth. Now Zi is placed on the Si position, which is the earth plate's growth place but carries the heaven plate's death qi. Moreover, Zi and Si together form the character 'death'. Furthermore, Xu is placed on Mao and initiates the transmission, with River Chief and well frame added together, and Mao is also harmed by the day stem, indicating destruction of vehicles and boats - this disaster is unavoidable. Later, in a place over a hundred miles west of Li Jiang, a family of five was killed by bandits.

This lesson's eight special (ba zhuang) are selected according to the method of zhi yi. Why not take the卯 (Mao) on 申 (Shen)? Because the day is庚 (Geng), which is yang, and we must take a yang branch. Since Mao is a yin branch, we discard the Mao on Shen and instead take the戌 (Xu) on Mao. Regarding the method of taking jiesha: for days of 申 (Shen), Zi (Zi), and Chen (Chen), jiesha is in巳 (Si); for days of巳 (Si), You (You), and Chou (Chou), jiesha is in寅 (Yin); for days of寅 (Yin), Wu (Wu), and Xu (Xu), jiesha is in亥 (Hai); for days of亥 (Hai), Mao (Mao), and Wei (Wei), jiesha is in申 (Shen). This lesson is on 申 (Shen) day, so jiesha is in巳 (Si), which exactly falls on the middle transmission.

Eight Special Lessons · Divination on Illness (Xinmao Year, Second Month · Dingwei Day)

In the year Xinmao, during the second lunar month after the spring equinox, the month general is "River Chief" Xu. The divination is made on the day Dingwei and the time Guimao, which falls in the Jiachen decade (the empty branch is in Yin and Mao). The question is about illness. The lesson pattern is "Eight Specials" — the heavenly stem Ding is located in the branch Wei, and the day branch is also Wei, so the heavenly stem and earthly branch are in the same position. The month general Xu is placed on the time branch Mao. The four lessons are: the first lesson is on Wei with Yin, which is the first lesson (Yin is multiplied by "Liu He"); the second lesson is on Yin with You, which is the second lesson (You is multiplied by "Tai Yin"); the third and fourth lessons are the same as the first two. The three transmissions are: the first transmission is You (hidden stem Jiyou, multiplied by "Tai Yin", representing wife and wealth for the day Ding); the second transmission is Chen (hidden stem Jiachen, multiplied by "Azure Dragon", representing son and grandson); the third transmission is Hai (hidden stem Xinhai, multiplied by "Nobleman", representing official and ghost).

Wu Shiqing said: This patient cannot lift his hands or feet, and there is no sign of life qi in his body. Because Wu is the禄神 of Ding fire, and now it is located on Hai. The long life of Ding fire is in Yin, and its end is in Hai. The day's禄 is on the place of its end. Si is the post-horse for Wei day, but it is added on Xu, which means the post-horse has entered the storage. Now looking at the year's position, it is 'you hun', Zi is added on Si, and the two characters form the word 'death'. In the three transmissions, You is the death place of Ding fire's twelve cycles. You also carries Chen, which is the storage, and Hai is the end place of Ding. How can there be any salvation? Why is the illness in the hands and feet? Because Mao is added on Shen and Xu is added on Mao, so it is known to be a condition of wind paralysis and convulsions. When should it happen? For a long illness, it should be on 'Mao'. Mao is added on Shen, so the death is predicted for the day of Shen at the hour of Zi.

The eight special divination methods in this lesson are determined according to the method of involving harm.

Eight Special Lessons: Divination of Rain by Hearing the Cuckoo's Call (Gengyin Year, Fifth Month, Jiayin Day)

In the year Gengyin, fifth month, on the day Jiayin and at the hour Dingmao, a divination was made. The day belongs to the Jiayin cycle, with the empty branch in Zi and Chou. At that time, it had been a long time without rain, and the sound of a sparrow hawk was heard, so a divination was performed to see if rain would come. The lesson pattern is "Cutting Off the Successor" and "Exclusive Occupation." The heavenly stem Jia is placed in the Yin branch, and the day branch is also Yin, so the heavenly stem and earthly branch are in the same position. The four lessons are: the first lesson is the branch Yin with the branch Wei, which is the first lesson (Wei is riding the Tian Kong); the second lesson is the branch Wei with the branch Zi, which is the second lesson (Zi is riding the Teng Snake); the third and fourth lessons are the same as the first two. The three transmissions are: the first transmission is Zi (the hidden stem Jiazi, riding the Teng Snake, representing parents, which is in the empty branch of the cycle), the second transmission is Si (the hidden stem DingSi, riding the White Tiger, representing children), and the third transmission is Xu (the hidden stem RenXu, riding the Liu He, representing wife and wealth).

Wu Shiqing interpreted: The dove is calling for rain, but this divination shows a pattern of strong wind and light rain. Because the initiating transmission is the Zi, which is "Shenhou" and falls in the旬空; the middle transmission is the Si, which is occupied by the White Tiger, and the wind煞 of April is also in the Si, along with the旬丁. The Wei is the Wind God and is located on the day stem, and the Wei is also connected to the day branch through the寅, which contains the favorable wind mansion of Ji Xu. Therefore, there will certainly be wind today. By the子 hour tonight, the旬空 will be filled, and there will be a little rain. However, because the initiating transmission is in a state of rest and waste and also falls in theKongwang, that little rain will only slightly moisten the dust.

This lesson follows the method of "Zhi Yi." Later, the example of Fengbo's monthly builder is added: in the first month, it is in Shen; in the second month, in Wei; in the third month, in Wu; in the fourth month, in Si; in the fifth month, in Chen; in the sixth month, in Mao; in the seventh month, in Yin; in the eighth month, in Chou; in the ninth month, in Zi; in the tenth month, in Hai; in the eleventh month, in Xu; in the twelfth month, in You. The entire book concludes here, and the volume of "Liuren Verified Cases" comes to an end.
