On the Hidden God (Fu Shen)

飛神，即世位是也，一世卦至游魂。乾卦但認本宮渾天甲子，至游魂卦即壬午是也。八純卦則取坤卦世位癸酉，歸魂卦則取坤宮應爻乙卯是伏神也。餘卦仿此。左邊旁象號飛神，右畔親爻以伏名。伏去生飛為洩氣，飛來生伏得長生。爻逢伏克飛無事，用見飛傷伏不寧。飛伏比和為有助，伏藏出現審來因。

The concept of "Flying God" refers to the position of the World Line, which is traced from the first generation hexagram to the wandering soul hexagram. Taking the Qian hexagram as an example, one simply identifies the original heavenly stem and earthly branch of the palace to determine the position, and when reaching the wandering soul hexagram, the World Line is at Renwu. For the eight pure hexagrams, the World Line of the Kun hexagram, Guiyou, is taken as the Hidden God. For the returning soul hexagram, the responding line of the Kun palace, Yimao, is taken as the Hidden God, and the rest of the palaces are treated similarly. A mnemonic states: the image on the left side, representing other palaces, is called "Flying God," while the six relations on the right side of the original palace are called "Hidden God." When the Hidden God generates the Flying God, it signifies the loss of vitality; when the Flying God generates the Hidden God, the Hidden God is like gaining growth. If the爻 encounters the Hidden God overcoming the Flying God, there is no issue; if the used爻 is harmed by the Flying God, the Hidden God will be disturbed. When the Five Phases of the Flying God and Hidden God are harmonious, it indicates support. Whether the Useful God is hidden or appears must be examined based on its origin and development.

出現旺相，為久為遠；伏藏有氣，只利暫時。占財伏兄：用財伏兄，口舌相侵；若在世下，旺相可成。占財伏鬼：財伏鬼鄉，買賣遭殃；日辰福德，方始榮昌。占財伏父、子：財伏父母，旺相得半；財伏子孫，有氣必滿。占官鬼伏兄：用鬼伏兄，同類相凌；若不虛詐，人不一心。

The general principle is: when the used line appears and is prosperous and strong, the matter it represents will be long-lasting and profound; if the used line is hidden, even if it has some strength, it only benefits for a short time. When the wealth line is hidden under the siblings line: the used wealth line hidden under the siblings line indicates there will be disputes and conflicts; if the wealth line is hidden under the world line and is prosperous and strong, the matter can still succeed. When the wealth line is hidden under the official ghost line: wealth hidden in the ghost's territory indicates trouble in business; it must be rescued by the day branch bringing the children and fortune virtue, then it can begin to flourish. When the wealth line is hidden under the parents or children lines: wealth hidden under the parents line, even if it is prosperous and strong, can only get half the result; wealth hidden under the children line, as long as it has some strength, will certainly be complete. When the official ghost line is hidden under the siblings line: the used ghost line hidden under the siblings line indicates that the same kind of thing is being oppressed; if it is not due to someone being deceitful and insincere, it is because people are not united.

占鬼伏財鄉：鬼伏財鄉，因財有傷；官吏阻節，休廢乖張。占鬼伏父母：鬼伏父母，舉狀經官；若財世上，求之不難。占鬼伏子下：鬼伏子孫，去路無門；官乘旺相，透出可分。占鬼伏官：官鬼伏官，小人作難；若親見發，方許開顏。

When the ghost line is hidden under the wealth line: the ghost is hidden in the wealth area, indicating harm caused by money matters. Officials may interfere and block the matter, leading to failure and disorder. When the ghost line is hidden under the parent line: the ghost is hidden under the parent line, suggesting the need to file a complaint with the authorities. If the wealth line is on the world line, the matter can be handled easily. When the ghost line is hidden under the child line: the ghost is hidden under the child line, indicating no way out. However, if the official ghost is strong and appears outside the hex, there may still be a resolution. When the ghost line is hidden under another ghost line: another ghost is hidden beneath the ghost line, indicating interference from small people. Only if the person involved is personally seen and activated can the matter be resolved to one's satisfaction.

六爻皆有飛伏神，世下一爻為最要，伏神入影飛如體，飛喻神兮陰伏比。古賢深訪此來由，深入探索最微妙，伏神隱伏飛神現，凡占皆放方盡善。道明占晉之剝卦，婦當夢嫁祥耍也。伏神為鬼最難除，後遇旺生依舊發，伏神為財先有財，十二所屬可推排，看取八卦生肖出，定知準擬在他懷。飛克伏神克逃亡，伏克飛神逃有傷，相生亦是難尋捉，更加內外休旺詳。

Each of the six lines has its own flying god and hidden god, with the one beneath the world line being the most important. The hidden god is like a shadow, while the flying god is like the form; the flying god appears clearly like a spirit, while the hidden god is concealed in the dark and belongs to the yin. These two complement each other. Ancient sages deeply explored the origin of this method, investigating it with great precision: the hidden god is concealed, while the flying god is visible. When divining a hexagram, one must consider both layers to achieve completeness. For example, Guo Pu divined the hexagram of Progress changing to the hexagram of Splitting, and predicted that a woman would have a favorable dream of marriage. If the hidden god is an official ghost, it is the hardest to remove; even if it meets a prosperous and strong condition later, it will still cause trouble. If the hidden god is wealth, it indicates that there was originally some wealth; one can determine the zodiac animal according to the twelve earthly branches, and see which zodiac animal appears in the eight trigrams, thus determining who will possess this wealth. If the flying god overcomes the hidden god, it indicates that a person will be captured in a case of disappearance; if the hidden god overcomes the flying god, the person who has disappeared will suffer harm. If the flying and hidden gods mutually generate, the person will be difficult to find. In addition, one must also consider the prosperity and strength of the inner and outer trigrams to achieve a complete understanding.

用象如無或落空，就將本卦六親攻，動爻生用終須吉，若遇交重克用凶。用爻取法不作詳述。卦中動爻與日辰，相生相合則吉；忌卦中動爻與日辰，相剋相沖，相沖則凶也。又如用爻不上卦或落空亡，就將本卦六親用爻審明飛伏生克，以定吉凶。天玄賦云：明用爻之得失，定事體之吉凶。豈虛語哉。

When the class symbols used are not present in the hexagram or fall into the void, one should refer back to the six relations of the primary hexagram to find the way. If a moving line generates the useful god, it is ultimately auspicious; if a moving line that is activated comes to control the useful god, it is inauspicious. The method of selecting the useful god is not explained in detail here. If the moving line and the day branch in the hexagram mutually generate or harmonize with the useful line, it indicates good fortune; the most dangerous situation is when the moving line and the day branch in the hexagram mutually control or conflict with the useful line, as a single conflict signifies misfortune. For example, if the useful line is not present in the hexagram or falls into the void, one should find the line in the six relations of the primary hexagram that can substitute for the useful line, and examine the generation and control relationships between the flying god and the hidden god, using this to determine good or bad fortune. The "Heavenly Mystery Treatise" says: distinguishing the gains and losses of the useful line can determine the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of the matter. Is this not empty talk?

用爻旁宮號伏藏，若遭刑剋定非祥，縱然生旺無刑剋，作事平平不久長。卦名中無本宮之卦，曰伏藏不出現也。若各宮之第五、六、七之卦是也。天玄賦云：無氣伏藏只利暫時之用。合而觀之，詎不信失。

The useful god's line falls in a different palace, which is called "hidden and concealed." Once it is subjected to punishment or conflict, it certainly brings misfortune. Even if it is strong and prosperous without being punished or conflicted, when doing things it can only be mediocre and cannot last long.所谓 hidden and concealed refers to the卦 name not containing the original palace's hexagram, and the useful god of the original palace has not appeared. The fifth, sixth, and seventh hexagrams of each palace, that is, the fourth generation, fifth generation, and wandering soul hexagrams, are exactly this situation. The "Heavenly Mystery Treatise" says: a hidden and concealed useful god line without vitality is only beneficial for a temporary use. Considering both aspects, is this not credible?

用爻出現在親宮，縱值休囚亦不凶，更得生扶兼旺相，管教作事永亨通。出現：指卦名中有本宮之卦，如八純之卦，名曰內外出現。各宮之第二第三第四之卦，本宮皆在外象，名外卦出現。又如各宮末後歸魂之卦，本宮皆在內象，名曰內卦出現。天玄賦云：出現旺相可為遠日之謀。

When a line (yao) appears within its own palace, even if it meets the condition of being weak and confined, it is not considered ominous. If it further receives support and generation and is also prosperous and strong, then whatever action is taken will surely be smooth and successful. The term 'appearance' refers to the presence of the palace's own trigram within the hexagram name. For example, in the eight pure hexagrams, both the inner and outer trigrams belong to the palace, which is called 'inner and outer appearance.' In the second, third, and fourth hexagrams of each palace, the palace's trigram is located in the outer trigram, which is called 'outer trigram appearance.' Also, in the final returning hexagram of each palace, the palace's trigram is located in the inner trigram, which is called 'inner trigram appearance.' The Tianxuan Assignment states: when a line appears and is prosperous and strong, it can be used to plan long-term affairs.

問卦先須問日辰，日辰克用不堪親，日辰與用相生合，作事何愁不稱心。論忌神：看卦還須看忌神，忌神宜靜不宜興，忌神急要逢沖剋，若遇生扶用受刑。論元神：元神出現志揚揚，用伏藏兮也不妨，須要生扶為旺相，最嫌沖剋及刑傷。論洩氣：用逢洩氣動搖搖，作事消疏不到頭，最喜元神相救助，忌神發動切須愁。財動則洩子孫之氣，子動則洩兄弟之氣，兄動則洩父母之氣，父動則洩官鬼之氣，鬼動則洩妻財之氣。

Before casting a divination, one must first consider the day branch. If the day branch overcomes the useful god, the divination is not favorable. If the day branch generates or harmonizes with the useful god, then affairs will proceed smoothly. Next, consider the hostile god. When interpreting the divination, one must also consider the hostile god. The hostile god should remain still and not be active. The hostile god is best when it is overcome or restrained. If the hostile god is instead supported or assisted, the useful god will suffer harm. Next, consider the origin god. When the origin god appears, the useful god will be strong and vigorous. Even if the useful god is hidden, it is not a problem. The origin god must be supported and strong, and it is most undesirable for it to be overcome, restrained, or harmed. Next, consider the leakage of energy. If the useful god encounters leakage, it will be unstable and affairs will not reach completion. In such a case, the origin god is most beneficial, while the hostile god being active is most concerning. Leakage refers to the wealth element moving and draining the energy of the children, the children moving and draining the energy of the siblings, the siblings moving and draining the energy of the parents, the parents moving and draining the energy of the official ghost, and the official ghost moving and draining the energy of the wealth.

世應相生則吉，世應相剋則凶，世應比和事卻中，作事謀為可用。應動他人反變，應空他亦難同，世空世動我心慵，只恐自家懶動。世為我，應為彼。本宮為卦，直苻四時分向背。伏藏取生克沖合，出現取刑墓空亡。應動託人心易變，身動生憂事不寧，若是應爻居此下，旺相扶之可速成。

The World Line represents me and the Response Line represents the other party. If the World Line and the Response Line are mutually generating, it is auspicious; if they are mutually controlling, it is inauspicious. If the Five Phases of the two lines are in harmony, the matter is neither good nor bad, and the plan or action is still acceptable. If the Response Line is activated, it indicates the other party may regret or change their mind. If the Response Line is empty, the other party is unlikely to be in agreement. If the World Line is empty or activated, it suggests my own lack of initiative and fear of not being motivated. The World Line represents me, and the Response Line represents the other party. Using the original hexagram as the foundation, we determine the direction of influence by the four seasons. If the Useful God is hidden, we use generation, control, conflict, and combination to interpret. If the Useful God is present, we use punishment, burial, and emptiness to interpret. If the Response Line is activated, entrusting others may lead to change of heart. If the Hexagram Body is activated, there will be worry and the matter will not be peaceful. If the Response Line is exactly under the Hexagram Body and is prosperous and strong, the matter can be completed quickly.

宅墓高低產子難，病多進退往行艱，婚姻有疑逃者近，訟詞留連主繫關。旁爻持世，旺相得地，應與動爻，不克方是。世應當中隔爻：世應當中兩間爻，發動所求多阻隔，假若有氣事分明，必定慢慢方始得。兄弟動主脫詐口舌，官鬼動主人事乖隔。占婚姻為媒，占生產為接生婆，占事為隔阻，占種田為農人，占宅為鄰里。間爻發：世應當中兩間爻，忌神發動莫相交。元神與用當中動，事到酕醄始得利。

When the World Line and the Response Line are in mutual control, if divining about a house or a grave, it indicates that the terrain is not suitable; if divining about childbirth, it suggests difficult labor; if divining about illness, the condition fluctuates, getting better and worse repeatedly, and the person has difficulty moving about, doubts in marriage, and the missing person is nearby. Lawsuits will be delayed and the person may be involved in legal troubles. It is only when another line holds the World Line, is prosperous and strong, and neither the Response Line nor the Moving Line come to control it that there will be no obstacles. Now, regarding the lines between the World and the Response Lines: if there are two intermediate lines between the World and the Response Lines, and they move, the matter will encounter many obstacles. If the intermediate lines are strong, the matter will be clear, but it will take time to resolve. If the intermediate lines are siblings moving, it indicates deception, fraud, and disputes. If the official ghost line moves, it suggests obstacles and misunderstandings in human affairs. In divining about marriage, the intermediate line represents the matchmaker; in divining about childbirth, it represents the midwife; in general matters, it represents an obstacle; in divining about farming, it represents the farmer; in divining about a house, it represents the neighbors. Also, if the two intermediate lines between the World and the Response Lines are occupied by the Hostile God and move, one should not deal with them. If the Origin God or the Useful God move in the intermediate lines, the matter will only show benefit after drinking alcohol and getting merry.

世落空亡人有難，應落空亡後有殃，世應空亡憂疑訣。世動家有阻，應動女有殃。六爻俱靜類：卦遇六爻安靜，須看用與日辰，日辰克用及沖刑，其事宜當謹慎。更把世應推究，忌神切莫加臨，世應臨用及元辰，做事斷然昌盛。旁爻克象察飛神，克應隨宮配六親，將本謁人須用靜，脫貨占來動是貞。將本營運，放債抽拈，買賣停場，賭斗撼錢，圖謀赴試，見任官員，上書投謁，守舊常占。娶妻買妾，屋宅墳田，住庵謁人，失物理冤，用爻宜靜，有氣為先。

When the world line falls into an empty position, the person will face difficulties; when the response line falls into an empty position, there will be future troubles; when both the world and response lines fall into empty positions, this is a key indication of worry and uncertainty. If the world line becomes active, there will be obstacles at home; if the response line becomes active, there will be misfortune for the woman. If all six lines are still, when the hexagram has all six lines quiet, we should examine the relationship between the useful god and the day branch; if the day branch overcomes, conflicts with, or clashes with the useful god, we should be especially cautious. Then we should carefully examine the world and response lines, and avoid having the hostile god affecting them. If the world and response lines are directly on the useful god and origin god, then the matter will certainly prosper. When other lines overcome the hexagram, we should examine the flying god; when they overcome the response line, we should match them with the six relations according to their native palace. If one goes to visit someone with money, the useful line should be quiet; if one is consulting about goods that have been sold, the useful line becoming active is the correct situation. All matters involving starting a business with capital, lending money and drawing lots, buying and selling goods, gambling with money, planning to take an exam, visiting current officials, submitting a letter, maintaining old habits, and consulting regularly, as well as marrying, buying servants, building houses and buying land for burial, staying in a monastery and visiting people, and searching for lost items or clearing up grievances, all these matters are suitable when the useful line is quiet, and it is preferable for the useful line to have vitality.

六爻亂動事難明，須向親宮看用神，用若休囚遭克害，莫將前訣費精神。宜用爻動吉。論獨發亂動：獨發易取，亂動難尋；先看世應，後審淺深。一看世上旁爻，坐財旺相，忌應爻克世；二看世下親爻，財官喜靜；三看何爻最旺為用神，如發動，動要生世；四看獨發之爻，旺相最急，休囚事慢。官用，官鬼為主，父母為輔。私用，妻財為主，子孫為輔。凡財官喜旺相，俱動，官私兩用皆可成。

When the six lines are all in motion, it becomes difficult to discern the matter clearly, so one should look for the useful god within the same trigram; if the useful god is weak and confined and suffers from being harmed, there is no need to waste effort on the previous formulas. Generally, it is favorable when the useful line is active. Furthermore, regarding a single line being active versus multiple lines in motion: if only one line is active, the useful god is easy to identify; if all six lines are in motion, the useful god is hard to find. The method is to first examine the world line and the response line, then assess the depth of the matter. First, look at the lines adjacent to the world line; it is best if a wealth line is sitting on top of the world line and is prosperous and strong, and it is to be avoided if the response line harms the world line. Second, look at the lines beneath the world line; wealth lines and official ghost lines both prefer to be still. Third, look at which line is most prosperous, and take that as the useful god; if it is active, its movement should benefit the world line. Fourth, look at the line that is uniquely active; if it is prosperous and strong, the matter will develop quickly, but if it is weak and confined, the matter will come slowly. For public matters, the official ghost is the main focus, with the parents as an auxiliary; for private matters, the wealth line is the main focus, with the children as an auxiliary. Wealth lines and official ghost lines both prefer to be prosperous and strong; if both are active, both public and private matters can be accomplished.

出現重迭，還須旺相；若乘土爻，更看勾象。世爻出現，乘父母、官鬼、子孫、妻財，旺相可取，休囚不可取。若乘辰戌丑未，更看勾合何爻也。假令大有卦，甲辰父母持世，為雜氣，能勾申子辰化水局子孫，不宜官用。

When a line appears and overlaps, it still needs to be prosperous and strong; if it is riding on the earth line of earth, one must also look at the image of connection and interaction. If the world line appears, regardless of whether it is riding on parents, official ghost, children, or wealth, it can be used if it is prosperous and strong, but not if it is weak and confined. If the world line is riding on the four earth lines of chen, xu, chou, and wei, one must also look at which line it connects to. For example, if the hexagram is Da You and the parents are held by jiachen, chen is a mixed earth element that can connect with shen, zi, and chen to form a water pattern; water in the qian palace is children, and children overcome official ghost, so this hexagram is not suitable for divination regarding official matters.

子孫獨發，為退為散；若乘旺相，亦可求財。兄弟獨發：兄弟獨發，為詐為虛；若乘旺相，財破嗟吁。兄弟為劫財之神，大宜隱伏。動發主虛詐不實之事，凶不凶、吉不吉。若旺相，主口舌憂疑破財，如出現發動，更看變得何如，大怕化鬼爻，凶。父母獨發：父母獨發，重迭艱辛；若乘旺相，文書可成。父母為文書、舟車、橋、城、衣服、屋宅。

The Children hexagram alone rising indicates retreat and dispersion; if it is supported by prosperous and strong energy, it can be used for seeking wealth. The Siblings hexagram alone rising indicates deceit and falsehood; if it is supported by prosperous and strong energy, it leads to financial loss and sighing. The Siblings represent the spirit that seizes wealth, so it is best to keep it hidden; once it becomes active, there will be matters of falsehood and unreality. Although it may seem凶, it is not truly凶, and although it may seem吉, it is not truly吉. If it is prosperous and strong, it brings disputes, worry and confusion, and financial loss. If it both appears and becomes active, one should look at what hexagram it transforms into. The worst case is if it transforms into a ghost hexagram, which brings great misfortune. The Parents hexagram alone rising indicates repeated hardships; if it is supported by prosperous and strong energy, official documents matters can be successful. The Parents represent the categories of official documents, boats and vehicles, bridges, cities, clothing, and houses.

妻財獨發，損書傷父；若乘旺相，婚姻可成。官鬼獨發：官鬼獨發，為欺為盜；若臨吉神，功名可望。大忌日破。出現獨發，先看財官，次分亂動，六親雜例（日辰休囚不可用）。日辰旺相能透出用爻，能克用爻。反神類：相爻克得休囚爻，休囚爻克不得旺相爻，動爻克得安靜爻，靜爻克不得動爻。

The wife and wealth爻 rises alone, causing damage to documents and harming the parents; if it is in a prosperous and strong state, marriage may still succeed. If the official ghost爻 rises alone, it indicates deception and theft; if it is accompanied by auspicious spirits, success in official positions may be expected. The used爻 should most avoid being冲破 by the day branch. Whenever the used爻 appears and rises alone, first examine the wealth and official positions, then distinguish the situation of chaotic movement, and all the various examples of the six relations are judged in this way (the day branch should not be used if it is weak and confined). When the day branch is prosperous and strong, it can both bring out the used爻 and also overcome it. As for the reverse god type: the timely helper overcomes the moving weak爻, while the weak爻 cannot overcome the moving prosperous爻; the moving爻 overcomes the stationary quiet爻, while the quiet爻 cannot overcome the moving爻.

空在旁宮不斷空，空如出現卻為空；忌神最喜逢空吉，用與元神不可空。春土夏金秋見木，三冬逢火是真空；旬中占得真空卦，縱吉須知到底凶。木旺火相寅卯月，火旺土相巳午中，金旺水相申酉位，水旺木相亥子宮，土旺辰戌丑未月，四時旺相不為空。六親空亡：父母空亡有損傷，子孫空亡有災殃，兄弟空亡不相睦，財落空亡難把捉，官鬼空亡公事停。

When the Empty Void falls in an unrelated trigram, it cannot be treated as a true Empty Void; only when the Empty Void falls on an already existing Useful God line is it truly empty. The Hostile God most benefits from falling into the Empty Void, as this brings good fortune; the Useful God and Origin God must not fall into the Empty Void. The Empty Void of spring earth, summer metal, autumn wood, and winter fire is called "true empty"; if a divination chart falls into the Empty Void during a ten-day period, even if the chart appears favorable, it is still considered ominous. Conversely, in the months of寅 and卯, wood is strong and fire is in its growth phase; in the months of巳 and午, fire is strong and earth is in its growth phase; in the months of申 and酉, metal is strong and water is in its growth phase; in the months of亥 and子, water is strong and wood is in its growth phase; in the months of辰,戌, 丑, and未, earth is strong. The five elements that are strong and in growth phase during the four seasons, even if they fall into the Empty Void, are not considered truly empty. Regarding the six relations falling into the Empty Void: if the parents fall into the Empty Void, the elders suffer injury; if the children fall into the Empty Void, there is disaster for the young; if the siblings fall into the Empty Void, siblings are not harmonious; if the wealth falls into the Empty Void, money is hard to grasp; if the official ghost falls into the Empty Void, official matters are delayed and cannot proceed.

易卦陰陽在變通，五行生剋妙無窮，時人不辨陰陽理，神煞將來定吉凶。論卦名類：易卦淵源論五行，陰陽之理本生生，可憐愚昧無知識，顛倒陰陽論卦名。四卦滅例（諸事不吉）：春蒙，夏蠱，秋剝，冬旅。四卦沒例：春需，夏觀，秋節，冬臨。（若無吉神扶者，主凶也。）

The yin and yang of the hexagrams in the Book of Changes are all about transformation and adaptability; the mysteries of the Five Phases are endless. People in ancient times failed to understand the principles of yin and yang, yet relied solely on divine omens to determine fortune and misfortune. As for the names of the hexagrams: the origin of the hexagrams in the Book of Changes lies in the discussion of the Five Phases, and the principle of yin and yang is ever-renewing. It is pitiful that ignorant people reverse yin and yang, focusing only on the names of the hexagrams. The "Four Hexagrams with No Favorable Outcomes" refer to the hexagram Meng in spring, Gu in summer, Bo in autumn, and Lu in winter, which are unfavorable in any divination. The "Four Hexagrams without Favorable Outcomes" refer to the hexagram Xu in spring, Guan in summer, Jie in autumn, and Lin in winter; these hexagrams will result in misfortune if not supported by auspicious spirits.

父母者，生我者謂之。父母也，能為凶，能為吉，各有所用。遇財則有傷本體，逢鬼則增長光輝。發動則克傷子孫，生扶兄弟。審其動靜衰旺，各有所宜。占身：父母動，則難為子息。占婚：為主婚人空，則必無主者及無聘禮。占產：為傷，鬼煞動則子難養。占官：為印綬文書，旺相帶貴人，功名必可就；空亡兼墓絕，雖吏難成。占訟：為狀詞案驗，動則事態難息。若我興詞，宜旺；他訴我要衰。旺則事大，衰則事輕，空亡及無氣皆難成。

Any yao that is generated by me is called "parents." The parents yao can be either auspicious or inauspicious, each having its own use. When it meets the wife and wealth yao, it suffers damage; when it meets the official ghost yao, it instead gains brilliance, because the ghost can generate the parents. Once it moves, it harms the children and supports the siblings. One must examine its movement and its prosperity and strength, and choose accordingly based on the matter being divined. If it falls in an empty position, there will certainly be no one arranging the marriage and no dowry. For divination about childbirth: the parents yao is the divine force that harms the children. If there is also movement of ghosts and evils, the child will be difficult to raise. For divination about official position: the parents yao represents official documents and letters. If it is prosperous and strong and accompanied by a nobleman, success in official position is certain. If it falls in an empty position and is also in a tomb or in decline, even obtaining a minor official position will be difficult. For divination about lawsuits: the parents yao represents the lawsuit documents and case files. When it moves, the matter becomes difficult to resolve. If I am the one suing, the parents yao should be strong; if the other party is suing me, the parents yao should be weak. Strength indicates a serious matter, weakness indicates a minor matter. If it falls in an empty position or has no vitality, the lawsuit will not be resolved.

占失脫：為窩藏，發動則賊已隱匿，不可追尋。求財：發動，為絕源殺，只許一度，再難求，亦主艱辛。出行：為行李，旺相多，休囚少，空亡無。行人：為書信，帶吉神為安書，加凶神為凶信。發動克世，必有信至，空亡墓絕，杳無音書。占家宅：為屋宇，旺相，深沉廣闊；帶青龍貴人，乃新創整齊；無氣，乃狹窄低小；逢沖必崩摧破敗。加青龍亦是新屋，帶白虎必是舊宅。

Divination on lost items: Parents represent the place where stolen goods are hidden. If the parents are activated, it indicates the thief has already concealed the stolen items, making them difficult to recover. Divination on seeking wealth: When parents are activated, it signifies 'cutting off the source', meaning one can only gain wealth once, and further attempts will be difficult and arduous. Divination on travel: Parents represent luggage. If they are prosperous and strong, there will be much luggage; if weak and confined, there will be little; if they fall into emptiness, there will be none. Divination on a person's whereabouts: Parents represent messages. If accompanied by auspicious spirits, it is a message of safety; if accompanied by malevolent spirits, it is a message of misfortune. If parents are activated and they overcome the world line, there will certainly be a message. If they fall into emptiness or are buried and in decline, there will be no news. Divination on the household: Parents represent the house. If they are prosperous and strong, the house is deep and spacious. If accompanied by the azure dragon and nobleman, it is a newly built, neat house. If they are weak and confined, the house is narrow and low. If there is a conflict, the house will collapse and decay. If accompanied by the azure dragon, it is a new house; if accompanied by the white tiger, it is an old house.

占國：為城池，有氣則城池堅固。征戰：為旌旗，宜靜不宜動，動則有興師。疾病：占雙親，為用爻，宜旺不宜空，空則必危。占子孫：為惡殺，宜靜不宜動，動則必死。以上繫玄妙之機，精微之旨，學者並宜深玩。

Divination about state affairs: Parents represent the city walls, and if they have strength, the city walls are strong. Divination about warfare: Parents represent the banners, and they should remain still rather than move; once they move, it indicates the mobilization of troops. Divination about illness: If the divination concerns both parents, the parents' line is the useful god, and it should be strong rather than declining or empty; if it declines or becomes empty, the illness is certainly dangerous. Divination about children: Parents represent harmful forces, and they should remain still rather than move; once they move, the child will surely die. All these are profound mechanisms and subtle meanings, and those who study the Book of Changes should deeply contemplate them.

比和者為兄弟。大抵不能為福，亦不能為大凶，無非破敗、剋剝、阻滯之神也。怕逢官鬼發動，則受制；喜遇父母興隆，則有依。發動則傷克妻財、扶持福德。占身命：在內象為兄弟，在外象為朋友。與世爻相生相合，則內和兄弟，外信朋友；與世爻相沖相剋，必破耗多端，難為妻妾。占婚姻：為費財，為詭詐，為虛妄。若大象可成，發動不過破財也，如不可成，臨世發動，必主他日傷妻；若當間爻動，必是媒人詭詐虛妄。

The yao that is in harmony with my Five Phases is called "Brothers." It generally does not bring great fortune or great misfortune, but rather represents a spirit that causes destruction, depletion, and obstruction. It fears encountering the Official Ghost, as it will be controlled by it; it is happy to meet the Parents in prosperity, as it then has support. When Brothers move, they harm the Wealth and support the Children and Fortune. In divination about one's life: if Brothers are in the Inner Trigram, they represent one's own brothers; if in the Outer Trigram, they represent friends. If Brothers are in harmony or in conjunction with the World Line, then brothers at home are harmonious and friends outside are trustworthy; if they conflict or clash with the World Line, there will be continuous losses and expenses, and it will be difficult to have a wife or concubine. In divination about marriage: Brothers indicate expenditure of money, deceit, and illusion. If the overall situation of the hexagram originally allows for success, the movement of Brothers will only result in some financial loss. If the overall situation originally does not allow for success, and Brothers move in conjunction with the World Line, it will certainly lead to injury to the wife in the future. If Brothers move in the intermediate line, it is definitely due to a deceitful matchmaker telling lies.

占產孕：為傷。鬼殺更加大殺發動，妻命必危，無氣稍得。求官：為阻神，為費財，為嫉妒。旺相發動，事必有阻，廣費錢財，若加劫殺玄武，防小人嫉妒。占訟：為耗神，為干眾，為虛譽。發動克世，我必費財；克應，他人破耗。臨旺朱雀，事必干眾，若加玄武劫殺，事體不實，恐繫詭詐虛偽。占失脫：為散財。若逢發動，財物已經變化四散，難以追尋。求財：為惡客。在世發動，財必難求；旁爻發動，與人同求財可，不然非全美之利。

Divination on pregnancy and childbirth: Brothers are the spirits that cause harm and restriction; if ghosts and killing spirits join them, the mother's life is in danger. If brothers are not strong, it is somewhat better. Divination on seeking official positions: Brothers are the spirits that cause obstacles, indicating loss of money and jealousy. If brothers are strong and active, there will be obstacles, and there will be a major loss of money. If further joined by劫杀 and玄武, one should beware of small people's jealousy. Divination on lawsuits: Brothers are spirits that consume energy, indicating involvement of many people and something that is empty in name. If brothers act and overcome the world line, I will suffer financial loss. If they overcome the response line, the opponent will suffer loss. If brothers are strong and accompanied byVermilion Bird, the case will involve many people. If further joined byBlack Tortoise and劫杀, the case is not genuine, and it may be deceitful. Divination on lost items: Brothers indicate the loss of property; if they are active, the property has already been sold and scattered, making it difficult to recover. Divination on seeking wealth: Brothers are the 'evil guests'; if they are active on the world line, wealth will be difficult to obtain; if they are active on other lines, seeking wealth with others is possible, but it is not a perfect profit.

出行與行人：皆為伴侶，旺則侶多，衰則侶少。不宜發動，動則增費盤纏。家宅：為破敗。旺相當權，發動，必田蠶為虛勞，勤苦備歷，財利輕微。占國：若在世上動，須防聚斂之臣覆國事。征戰：為伏兵。安靜逢沖，名為暗動，其計必中。占兄弟朋友：為用爻。占妻產：為克殺。旺相發動，妻必有傷。此理弘深，自宜推測。

Divination on travel and divination on a person in motion: siblings are considered as companions. When siblings are prosperous and strong, there are more companions; when they are weak, there are fewer. It is not advisable for siblings to be activated; once activated, there will be extra expenses. Divination on the household: siblings indicate destruction. If siblings are prosperous, powerful, and activated, farming and silkworm-rearing will result in great hardship, with much toil but little profit. Divination on state affairs: if siblings are activated on the world line, one should beware of ministers who hoard wealth causing the downfall of the state. Divination on warfare: siblings represent hidden troops. If they are quiet but meet a clash, it is called 'covert movement,' and this strategy will certainly succeed. Divination on siblings and friends: the sibling line is the useful god. Divination on wife's childbirth: siblings are the killing god. If they are prosperous and activated, the wife will surely suffer injury. The principles here are profound, and scholars should carefully deduce them.

凡我所生為子孫。是卦中至吉之神，逢之者無不為佳，背之者莫能為福。卦無父母則無克，爻有兄弟則有依。動則生財，克傷官鬼。占身命：為福德。若持世上，一生衣祿盈餘，見險無危，逢凶弗咎。占婚姻：為子息。卦中無子，必無兒。但不宜動，動則異日傷夫。占產：為用爻。屬陽旺相必生男，屬陰休囚定生女。落空亡，子難養。占官：為傷官，為剝玷。如待官始謀，逢發動，其事決難成；在任發動，剝官退位。若帶貴人、青龍、天喜，動則小有玷剝，不過有代官至。

All the lines that are generated by me are considered the "Children" line. It is the most auspicious deity in the hexagram. Encountering it brings no harm, but turning away from it leads to no fortune. If the hexagram lacks the "Parents" line, the "Children" line is not harmed. If the "Siblings" line is present, the "Children" line has support. When the "Children" line is activated, it generates the "Wealth" line and simultaneously restrains the "Official Ghost" line. In divination about one's life and fate: the "Children" line represents fortune and virtue. If it holds the main line, one will have more than enough food and clothing, remain safe in danger, and be free from misfortune. In divination about marriage: the "Children" line represents offspring. If the hexagram lacks the "Children" line, there will certainly be no children. However, it is not advisable for the "Children" line to be activated, as once it is, it will later harm the husband. In divination about childbirth: the "Children" line is the useful deity. If it is yang and strong, a son will be born; if it is yin and weak, a daughter will be born. If it falls into an empty position, the child will be difficult to raise. In divination about official position: the "Children" line is the "Disciple" line, which is the deity that damages official position. If one is waiting for an appointment and has not yet taken up an official post, encountering the activation of this line indicates that the matter will certainly not succeed. If one is already in an official position and this line is activated, it signifies a loss of position and retirement. However, if this line is accompanied by the Nobleman, Azure Dragon, and Heavenly Joy, even though it is activated, the damage will be minor, and nothing more than a replacement official taking office.

占訟：為解神，為勸和人。旺相發動，事情必散；若世應比和，更得此神發動，必然得人允和。占失脫：為捉獲。當權發動，必然捉獲。若占小可失脫，若逢發動，其神旺日可知蹤跡，亦恐偷時曾被人見。求財：為主顧，又為財源。旺相發動，經營可久，綿綿不絕。或落空亡，或不上卦，乃無主顧也；妻財縱旺，只許一度，再難成就，譬如水之無源。出行：為好侶，為錢神。得地發動，路逢好侶，財本無虞。行人：為吉回。發動克世，歸期已近，當得稱意而回。

Divination on legal matters: TheChildren (Children) represents the Relief Deity and the person who mediates; if it is prosperous and active, the matter will certainly resolve. If the World and Response Lines are harmonious, and this deity is active, someone will definitely intervene to reconcile both parties. Divination on lost items: TheChildren represents the person who will recover the lost item; if it is in authority and active, the item will certainly be found. If it is about minor thefts and this deity is active, on the day when theChildren is prosperous, the whereabouts can be known, but it is also possible that the thief was seen at the time of the theft. Divination on seeking wealth: TheChildren represents the customer and the source of wealth; if it is prosperous and active, the business can last long and the source of wealth will be continuous. If it falls into the empty state or does not appear in the hexagram, there will be no customers; at this time, even if the Wealth line is prosperous, one can only get it once, and further success will be difficult, just like water without a source. Divination on travel: TheChildren represents a good companion and the money deity; if it is active in its proper position, one will meet good companions on the way and not worry about money or expenses. Divination on a traveler: TheChildren indicates a favorable return; if it is active and controls the World Line, the return date is near, and the return will be satisfactory.

家宅：為少丁。旺相，則人丁旺盛。帶貴人、青龍，必有跨灶之子；加白虎、羊刃、玄武者，必有兇頑不律之兒。又為宅神，若持世，其家清安，獲福，官災不染，盜賊潛消。占田蠶：為有成。旺相發動，田蠶倍收。占國：為國嗣。安靜，臨吉神，建立已定；若加凶殺，須防扶蘇中趙氏之謀。又為彈劾之臣，旺相動，則朝廷無奸佞，國有忠良。占病：為醫藥。當權發動，其病即安；卦無其神，服藥無效。占小口及奴僕：為用爻。不落空亡，終無大害。占墳墓：為祭祀。卦無子孫，春秋二時無人祀也。

Divination on the family home: the Grandson represents young family members; if it is prosperous and strong, the family will have many descendants. If it is accompanied by the Nobleman and Azure Dragon, there will certainly be a son who surpasses his father, a "cross-stove" son. If it is combined with the White Tiger, Sheep's Blade, and Black Tortoise, there will certainly be wicked and lawless sons. The Grandson is also the household deity; if it holds the position, the family will be peaceful and safe, repeatedly receiving blessings, free from official troubles, and thieves will naturally disappear. Divination on agriculture: the Grandson represents harvests; if it is prosperous and strong, the crops, silkworms, and silk will have double harvests. Divination on state affairs: the Grandson represents the crown prince of the country; if it is quiet and accompanied by auspicious deities, the position of the crown prince has already been determined; if it is combined withInauspicious Sha (evil killings), one must beware of being deceived by conspiracies like those of Zhao Gao against Prince Fusu of the Qin dynasty. The Grandson is also the official who criticizes the court; if it is prosperous and strong, the court will have no corrupt ministers and the country will have loyal virtuous officials. Divination on illness: the Grandson represents medicine; if it holds power, the illness will recover immediately; if the deity is not present in the hexagram, taking medicine will be ineffective. Divination on children and servants: the Grandson is the useful deity; as long as it does not fall into the empty亡 (wasteland), there will be no major harm. Divination on tombs: the Grandson represents worship; if the deity is not present in the hexagram, the tomb will not be visited in spring and autumn.

妻財者，我克者謂之妻財也。諸事逢之，無不為吉。惟占父母及文書，不宜見之。值兄弟則有損，遇福德則愈佳，逢官鬼則洩我之氣也。動靜皆吉。占身命：為一生之衣祿。在本卦內三爻，如逢生旺，中年決然發福發財，必有成家之象。占婚姻：為婦。旺相臨青龍吉星，必主女貌端正。不宜動，動則傷克公姑。占孕育：為產婦。旺相不受制，臨產必平安。占求官：為俸祿。空亡或不上卦，未得俸祿。不宜發動，動則文書難成。無氣，只是費力，終可成就。占訟事：為解神。在世上發動，我必有理，事易調停，文書不致見官。

Any yao that I overcome is called "wife wealth." When it appears in divination for various matters, it is always auspicious; however, it is not suitable to see it in matters concerning parents or documents. If it meets the sibling yao, it will suffer damage; if it meets the child and virtue yao, it will be better. If it meets the official ghost yao, it will be drained of its energy. The wealth yao is auspicious whether it is active or still. In divination about one's life and destiny: wealth represents one's clothing, food, and salary throughout life. If it is located in the third line of the primary hexagram and is supported and strong, one will certainly experience prosperity and wealth in middle age, and there will be signs of establishing a family and career. In divination about marriage: the wealth yao represents the wife. If it is strong and supported by auspicious stars such as the azure dragon, it will indicate that the woman has a proper appearance. It is not suitable for it to be active; if it becomes active, it will harm the parents-in-law. In divination about pregnancy and childbirth: the wealth yao represents the mother. If it is strong and not restricted, childbirth will be safe. In divination about seeking official positions: wealth represents salary. If it falls into the empty or not present in the hexagram, one has not yet received salary. It is also not suitable for it to be active; if it becomes active, documents will be difficult to handle. If the wealth yao lacks strength, it will only be laborious, but eventually it will still be achieved. In divination about legal disputes: wealth represents the relief deity. If it is active on the world line, I will certainly have a just cause, and the matter will be easily resolved, without needing to go to court for litigation.

占失脫：為所失之物。安靜不空，其物可尋。占求財：為用爻。一卦是主宰，宜生世克世，大吉。無氣，必難求。占出行：為本錢盤纏。旺相多，墓絕少，空亡無。若值青龍，其財穩實；如逢劫殺，防被人劫騙。占行人：為財利。旺相帶吉神，必滿載而回。縱然經商，亦主一路安逸，不缺盤纏。占家宅：為財寶。卦若無財，財不多。若是金財旺相，其家必多金帛；土財是五穀田地；火財其家養蠶；木財家多離產；水財必得魚鹽酒醋之利。占農田：為財穀。養蠶為苗絲。旺相帶吉神，蠶必多而稻必熟。

Divination on lost items: The wealth line represents the lost item, which is still present and not missing, so the item can still be found. Divination on seeking wealth: The wealth line is the useful god, and in the hexagram it is the main focus. If the wealth line generates the world line or overcomes the world line, it is very auspicious. If the wealth line is weak, then wealth will be difficult to obtain. Divination on travel: Wealth represents the capital and expenses. If the wealth line is prosperous and strong, there will be more money; if it is buried, in decline, or in the void, there will be less. If the wealth line is associated with the Azure Dragon, the money is secure and solid; if it encounters劫 and killing stars, there is a risk of being robbed or cheated. Divination on people traveling: Wealth represents profit. If the wealth line is prosperous and accompanied by auspicious stars, the person will return with a full load. Even if they are traveling for business, it indicates a smooth journey without lack of funds. Divination on the household: Wealth represents treasure. If the hexagram lacks the wealth line, the household's resources are not abundant. If the metal wealth is prosperous and strong, the household will have much gold and silver, silk and cloth. If the earth wealth is prosperous and strong, the household will have abundant grain and land. If the fire wealth is prosperous and strong, the household will raise silkworms. If the wood wealth is prosperous and strong, the household will have many properties that have been given away. If the water wealth is prosperous and strong, the household will gain profits from fish, salt, wine, and vinegar. Divination on farmland: Wealth represents money and grain. For silk reeling, wealth represents silkworm eggs and silk. If the wealth line is prosperous and strong and accompanied by auspicious stars, the silkworms will be numerous and the rice will be ripe.

占國事：為國儲。旺相安靜，必倉廩實，府庫充。無氣則倉廩空虛。占戰鬥：為糧食。在內旺，則我之食足；在外旺，則彼之糧孚。占妻妾：為用爻。占父母：為忌曜。其餘推占，不宜動，動則生鬼也。後之學易者，自當通變。

Divining state affairs: Wealth represents the state's reserves. If wealth is prosperous and strong and quiet, then the granaries are full and the treasuries are abundant; if wealth lacks vitality, then the granaries are empty. Divining battles: Wealth represents military provisions. If wealth is strong in the inner trigram, our side has sufficient supplies; if wealth is strong in the outer trigram, the enemy has sufficient supplies. Divining about spouses: the wealth line is the useful god. Divining about parents: the wealth line is the hostile god. For other types of divination, wealth line should not be active; once it moves, it should generate the official ghost. Later scholars of the Book of Changes should be flexible and adaptable.

官鬼者，克我者為官鬼也。大抵為凶處多，為福處少。所畏者福德，所恃者妻財。動則傷克兄弟，生扶父母。然卦中雖凶，而不可無，但宜靜而不宜動。占身命：帶貴人當為貴用，加凶殺帶羊刃、劫殺、懸針，為強盜劫賊。（遇吉必進祿加官，逢凶必喪亡疾病。）占求財：為牙人。若落空亡及不上卦，必無說合之人。占出行：為阻滯。若持世，在上，衰則卒難起腳，旺相多是去不成。占行人：為鬼。若刑剋用爻，在路上非官即病，兼防失脫。

Any yao that overcomes me is called "Official Ghost." It is mostly凶 and rarely brings good fortune; it fearsChildren andFortune Virtue, and relies onWealth. When it moves, it harms brothers and supports parents. Although the hexagram may dislike its凶 nature, it cannot do without it, and it is suitable to be still rather than active. In divination about one's life and destiny: if the ghost yao is accompanied by a nobleman, it can indicate a position of prominence; but if it is combined with凶 killing stars, sheep's blade, robbery killing, or hanging needle, it becomes a bandit or thief. If a good deity is encountered, one will certainly receive promotion and official position; if a凶 deity is encountered, one will certainly suffer loss and illness. In divination about seeking wealth: the ghost is like an intermediary broker; if it falls into empty亡 or is not in the hexagram, there will certainly be no intermediary. In divination about traveling: the ghost indicates obstruction; if it holds the world and is in the upper line, when it is weak, one cannot move for a while; when it is prosperous and strong, one is likely to fail to go. In divination about a traveler: the ghost is a malevolent spirit causing trouble; if it刑克 the used yao, the traveler will either meet legal trouble or get sick on the way, and also needs to beware of theft and escape.

占家宅：帶貴人、青龍者，為錢神。旺相得地，必主錢財堆積。如白虎、喪門、弔客、病苻者，須防疾病喪亡。帶朱雀、官苻者，必有官災口舌，非橫之事。若臨玄武，必有盜賊相侵，亡失財畜。若並鰧蛇發動，必有怪異虛驚。占移居：為惡客。若逢發動，移後必見災，終無吉利。占田蠶：為禍害。六爻逢之，皆主不吉。占國事：為亂臣賊子。帶殺加羊刃，須防兵革之興。

Divination for the household: If the ghost爻 is accompanied by the Nobleman or Azure Dragon, it becomes a money deity, prosperous and strong, indicating a great accumulation of wealth; if it is accompanied by the White Tiger,丧门, 吊客, or 病苻, one should beware of illness and death; if it is accompanied by the Vermilion Bird or 官苻, there will certainly be official troubles, disputes, and unexpected misfortunes; if it is accompanied by the Black Tortoise, there will certainly be thieves invading, resulting in loss of property and livestock; if it is accompanied by 螣蛇 and becomes active, there will certainly be strange occurrences and unnecessary alarm. Divination for moving house: The ghost is an evil guest; if it becomes active, moving into the new house will certainly bring disaster, ultimately being inauspicious. Divination for agriculture: The ghost is a calamity; if any of the six lines encounter it, it will bring inauspiciousness. Divination for state affairs: The ghost represents rebels; if it carriesInauspicious Sha and is combined with 羊刃, one should beware of war and chaos arising.

妻占夫：為用爻。（旺相帶青龍者，必聰明俊雅之人。加貴人必有勾當，不然亦是宦家子弟。若在胎養沐浴爻上，今雖末仕，他日必貴。最宜持世，或臨陽象，皆名得地。）占兄弟：為克殺。旺相發動，其病必危。占風水：為伏尸。看臨何神，便知落在何處。已葬來占為亡者，帶青龍吉神不動，亡者安而獲福。加凶殺、白虎、逢空者，亡者不安，生者有禍。

When divining about a husband, the ghost爻 is the useful god. If it is prosperous and strong and accompanied by the azure dragon, the husband must be a clever, handsome and refined person; if it is joined by a nobleman, he must certainly have an official position, otherwise he is the son of an official family; if it falls on the yao positions of the fetus, nurturing and bathing, although he has not yet taken office now, he will certainly become prominent in the future; it is best if it holds the world or is accompanied by a yang yao, which is called 'getting the right place'. When divining about siblings, the ghost is the killing god. If it is prosperous and active, the illness of the siblings must be dangerous. When divining about burial site feng shui, the ghost is the hidden corpse in the grave; by looking at what deity it is accompanied by, one can know the direction where the hidden corpse is located. If one divines after the burial, the ghost yao represents the deceased; if it is accompanied by the auspicious god and does not move, the deceased is peaceful and can bring blessings to descendants; if it is joined byInauspicious Sha or white tiger, or meets an empty position, the deceased is not peaceful, and the living will also suffer misfortune.

父動當頭克子孫，病人無藥主沉昏；婚姻子息應難得，買賣勞心利不存。觀望行人書信動，論官下狀理先分；士人科舉登金榜，失物逃亡要訴論。父化父兮文不實，舉事艱難事非一；父化子兮宜退散，縱然憂病反為吉。父化兄弟多口舌，用求婉轉須重迭；父化財兮交易利，家長不寧求事拙。父化官兮家損失，求官必得遷高職；卦無父母事無頭，更在休囚空費力。

When the parents' element is at the forefront and active, it restrains the children's element. In divination about illness, medicine and treatment will be ineffective, and the patient will be confused and drowsy. In divination about marriage and offspring, it indicates difficulty in having children. In business, one will work hard with little profit. In looking for a traveler, the message will arrive first. In legal matters, the case will be clearly understood first. For scholars, success in the imperial examination is likely. For lost items or escaped persons, official intervention is necessary. If the parents' element is transformed into another parents' element, documents will be false, and affairs will be difficult and numerous. If the parents' element transforms into the children's element, it is advisable to retreat and disperse, and even if there is illness or worry, it will turn favorable. If the parents' element transforms into the siblings' element, there will be much verbal conflict, and matters must be handled with care and repeated attempts. If the parents' element transforms into the wealth element, trade will be beneficial, but the family elders will be restless, and affairs will be difficult. If the parents' element transforms into the official ghost element, there will be loss in the household, but official positions will certainly be promoted. If the parents' element is absent in the hexagram, the matter will lack clarity. If the parents' element is also in a weak and confined state, efforts will be in vain.

子孫發動傷官鬼，占病求醫身便痊；行人買賣身康泰，婚姻喜美是姻緣。產婦當生子易養，詞訴空論事不全；遏貴求名休進用，守舊常占可自然。子化子兮陰小凶，舉訟興官理不同；子化官兮防禍患，占病憂疑盡不中。子化父兮防產婦，無中生有多頭緒；子化兄兮事不圓，脫詐人情疑莫去。

If the son's trigram is active and harms or overpowers the official ghost trigram: in a divination about illness and seeking medical treatment, the body can recover; in a divination about a traveler or business transactions, the person will be healthy and the business will proceed smoothly; in a divination about marriage, there will be joy and harmony, indicating a good match; for a pregnant woman giving birth, the child will be easy to raise; in a lawsuit, it will be just verbal arguments with no real resolution; as for visiting important officials or seeking official status, one should not expect promotion, but rather stick to old ways and keep divining regularly, going with the natural course of events. If the son's trigram transforms into another son's trigram, it indicates some misfortune among children and women, and disputes may arise with each party holding their own view. If the son's trigram transforms into the official ghost trigram, one should be cautious of troubles; in a divination about illness, there will be much worry and uncertainty, and the treatment will not be effective. If the son's trigram transforms into the parents' trigram, one should be cautious of complications for the pregnant woman, with matters arising out of nowhere and confusion; if the son's trigram transforms into the siblings' trigram, things will be difficult to complete, with deceit and fraud in human relationships, and doubts will persist.

財爻發動克文書，應舉求官總是虛；買賣交官財吉利，親姻如意樂無虞。行人在外身欲動，產婦求神易免除；失物靜安家未出，病人傷脾腹胃虛。財化子兮好望財，財化財兮婦主災；財化官兮防走失，財化文書用可諧。財化兄兮財少成，相知脫嫌勿交親；子化財兮宜守舊，托用人情不一心。

The movement of the wealth hexagram overcoming the parents hexagram indicates that matters concerning examinations, seeking official positions will ultimately be unfulfilled; however, engaging in business or dealing with government officials will bring favorable profits and smoothness. In matters of marriage, the relationship will be harmonious and joyful without worries. When divining about a traveler, it suggests that the person is already planning to leave. When divining about a pregnant woman, it indicates that praying to deities can easily prevent difficulties. When divining about lost items, if the wealth hexagram is still quiet, it means the item is still at home and has not left. When divining about illness, it suggests that the patient suffers from spleen and stomach weakness and discomfort in the abdomen. If the wealth hexagram transforms into the children hexagram, it is favorable for expecting wealth. If the wealth hexagram transforms into itself, it indicates that a woman may face misfortune. If the wealth hexagram transforms into the official ghost hexagram, one should be cautious of a woman going missing. If the wealth hexagram transforms into the parents hexagram, the matters in question can be harmonized. If the wealth hexagram transforms into the siblings hexagram, one will gain little wealth and it will be difficult to achieve, and one should also be cautious of acquaintances who may deceive, avoiding deep involvement. If the children hexagram transforms into the wealth hexagram, it is suitable to maintain the status quo, and when entrusting someone with a task, the person may not be fully committed.

兄弟交重克了財，病人難愈未離災；應舉雷同為大忌，官非陰賊耗錢財。若帶吉神為有助，出路行人尚未來；貨物經商消折本，買婢求妻事不諧。兄化兄兮家不足，兄化財兮財反覆；兄化官兮休下狀，占病難醫須見哭。兄化文書和改求，人情後喜主無憂；兄化子兮憂可散，若望行人信可頭。

The brothers' line is heavily active and is attacking the wealth line. If divining about illness, the patient is difficult to recover from and misfortune remains with the person; it is most unfavorable for taking an examination as it indicates copying others' writings; it indicates legal disputes and conflicts, as well as hidden thieves who will spend money. If it is accompanied by auspicious deities, it can offer some help. If divining about a traveler away from home, the person has not yet returned; for merchants, even the initial capital will be lost; for buying a servant or marrying, the matters will not be harmonious. If the brothers transform into brothers, there is a lack of money at home; if the brothers transform into wealth, seeking wealth will be unstable; if the brothers transform into official ghosts, one should not file a lawsuit, the illness is difficult to cure, and there will be crying; if the brothers transform into parents and documents, the matters sought should be handled with caution and changed, and later there will be joy in social relations, indicating no worries; if the brothers transform into children, worries will be dispelled, and if expecting a traveler, one can expect some news.

官鬼發動克兄弟，婚姻未就生滯疑；病困門庭禍祟來，更改動身皆不吉。出外逃亡定見災，詞訟官非有囚繫；買賣財輕賭博輸，失物難尋多闇昧。官化官兮病未安，見貴求官事盡難；官化文書官未順，交相事競鬼相干。官化子兮憂自除，常占小口必須危；官化兄兮朋友詐，委託他人心不實。官化財兮財自得，賭博抽拈卻主輸；卦中無鬼休謀事，官司不見事空虛。

The official ghost hexagram moves and overcomes siblings: marriage cannot be completed, with obstacles and doubts arising in the middle; illness troubles the household, and misfortunes come to the door; any change from old customs or long journeys are not auspicious. If going out or fleeing, disaster is certain; lawsuits and legal troubles may result in imprisonment; business dealings bring little profit, and gambling will certainly result in loss; lost items are difficult to find, and matters are obscure and unclear. If the official ghost transforms into another official ghost, illness remains unsettled, and seeking an official or meeting a nobleman is very difficult; if the official ghost transforms into parents, official affairs are not smooth, there is competition among colleagues, and supernatural troubles interfere; if the official ghost transforms into children, worries naturally disappear, but in a regular divination about a child, there is danger; if the official ghost transforms into siblings, one will be deceived by friends, and entrusting others with tasks will result in dishonesty; if the official ghost transforms into wealth, money comes naturally, but gambling and drawing lots will result in loss. If there is no ghost hexagram in the divination, do not plan matters; however, if encountering this in a lawsuit, it indicates that the case itself is baseless.

官鬼用，旺相伏藏要生世。父母宜旺相伏藏生世，忌休囚發動不利。妻財宜旺相出現，伏世下，宜生世。動不中，宜脫貨。兄弟，此謂之隔神，忌動不中。子孫謂之散神，旺相生世可求財，忌休囚發動，只宜散財。用爻宜出現旺相，忌休囚忌動。按經云：動則急，靜則緩。

When selecting the Useful God from the Six Relations, for the Official Ghost, it should be prosperous and strong, or hidden and come to generate the World Line. For the Parents, it is also preferable for them to be prosperous and strong, or hidden and generate the World Line; it is undesirable if they are weak and active, as that is unfavorable. For the Wealth, it is suitable if it is prosperous and appears, or hidden beneath the World Line, and also suitable if it comes to generate the World Line; however, if the Wealth爻 is active, it is not appropriate, as such a situation is only suitable for goods to be sold off. The Siblings are called the "Isolating God," and it is undesirable if they are active; if they move, it is not appropriate. The Children are called the "Dispersing God," and if they are prosperous and strong to generate the World Line, it can be beneficial for seeking wealth; however, if they are weak and active, it is only suitable for dispersing wealth. In summary, using a爻 should be appropriate and prosperous, and it is undesirable if it is weak or moves randomly. According to the classics, when a爻 moves, things happen quickly; when a爻 is still, things happen slowly.

一看世爻旺相發用，忌應爻刑墓克世。不畏沖，春夏大壯卦是也。若月建持世，或日辰生扶世，日辰沖剋應爻，卻喜之。二看世下財有無。用官伏世下，忌伏財。用財伏世下，忌伏官。卻要日辰生扶用爻。如用官，要官爻直日，或透文書。用財要妻財直日，或子孫直日生財。假令子爻為財，如申金旺相直日，為子孫生財吉。假令亥爻為官，木旺相直日，為文書，事也成。

First, check whether the world line is prosperous and strong enough to be used as the useful god. It is undesirable if the response line harms, buries, or controls the world line. The world line itself does not fear being clashed with, for example, when the Great Strength hexagram is used in spring or summer. If the month builder holds the world line, or if the day branch generates and supports the world line, and at the same time the day branch clashes with the response line, this is actually favorable. Second, check whether there is wealth under the world line. If the official ghost is used and it is hidden under the world line, it is undesirable if it is hidden under the wealth line; if the wealth is used and it is hidden under the world line, it is undesirable if it is hidden under the official ghost line. It is best if the day branch generates and supports the useful line. For example, if the official ghost is used, the official ghost line should be present on the day or appear in the text; if the wealth is used, the wealth line should be present on the day or the children line on the day should generate the wealth. Suppose the water line is the wealth, and the metal line is strong and present on the day, the metal line is the children, and the children generate the wealth, which is favorable. Suppose the water line is the official ghost, and the wood line is strong and present on the day, the wood line is the text, and the matter can be accomplished.

三看財官出現，旺相有氣成，休囚無氣不成。若日辰旺相生用卻成。假令酉爻為財出現，夏占未日是也。子見子、亥見亥為比，能生能克，子見亥、亥見子為不比，不能生不能克。比者乃一家之事也。四看財官旺相，伏於何爻之下。用官喜伏官父之下，忌伏財及兄弟之下。用財喜伏子父之下，忌伏鬼兄之下。須是財官透出，直日辰或日辰旺相剋去鬼爻。

The third thing to look at is whether the wealth and official ghost lines appear. If they are prosperous and strong, the matter will succeed; if they are weak and confined, the matter will not succeed. If the day branch is prosperous and strong and comes to generate and support the useful line, the matter can still succeed. For example, if the酉 metal line is the wealth line and appears in a divination during summer on a 未 day, this is an example of the day branch generating the useful line. When the same branch appears, such as 子 meeting 子 or 亥 meeting 亥, it is called 'comparison,' and they can both generate and overcome each other. However, if 子 meets 亥 or 亥 meets 子, even though they are both water branches but different branches, it is called 'not comparing,' and neither can generate nor overcome each other. The term 'comparison' refers to matters within the same family. The fourth thing to look at is when the wealth and official ghost lines are prosperous and strong, where exactly they are hidden beneath. For the official ghost line, it is favorable if it is hidden beneath the official or parent line, but unfavorable if it is hidden beneath the wealth or sibling line. For the wealth line, it is favorable if it is hidden beneath the child or parent line, but unfavorable if it is hidden beneath the ghost or sibling line. In general, the wealth and official ghost lines should be clearly visible, matching the day branch, or the day branch should be prosperous and strong enough to overcome the ghost line.

五看忌爻持世，用官忌子孫持世，用財忌兄弟持世，須是日辰旺相，透出用爻，方不畏，亦費力中得。六看一爻獨發，用官，官旺相，伏動要生世。用父母旺相，伏要生世。用財旺相，伏動要生世。用子旺相，伏出現動亦有。若用爻出現或休囚，皆忌動。

The fifth point is to check whether theHostile God is holding the world line: if using the official ghost, then the children are theHostile God if they hold the world line; if using wealth, then the siblings are theHostile God if they hold the world line; the day branch must be prosperous and strong to bring out the used line clearly, then there is no need to be afraid, but it is still difficult and forced. The sixth point is to check whether only one line is active: if using the official ghost, the official line must be prosperous and strong, and the hidden god must be activated to generate the world line; if using the parents, the parents must be prosperous and strong, and the hidden god must generate the world line; if using wealth, the wealth line must be prosperous and strong, and the hidden god must be activated to generate the world line; if using children, the children must be prosperous and strong, and the hidden god appears and is activated, which also counts. If the used line is already present or itself is weak and confined, then it is forbidden for it to be activated.
