占疾病卦例云：內戒病雲傷五臟，外戒傷害病皮膚，骸骨困羸消瘦盡，棺槨心驚多恐忌。血脈瘡痍有無慮，游魂恍惚不安居，歸魂精魄暗扶身，氣息沉靜心懶語。占何處得病云：鬼爻在初堂內病，三爻與二在門庭，四五之爻居道路，或逢風雨損心驚。鬼爻入坎河海疾，喪門臨象死喪家，福德象來因酒食，本宮五鬼象喧譁。占疾病凶卦云：豐觀需剝節旅賁，明夷蠱夬及同人，不問四時及生旺，十死分明不須陳。

A divination example on illness says: if the hexagram is "Inner Restriction," the illness harms the five internal organs; if it is "Outer Restriction," the illness affects the skin; if it is "Skull and Bones," the person is weak and emaciated, nearly exhausted; if it is "Coffin and Lid," the person is startled and full of fears; if it is "Blood and Vessels," there is concern about wounds and sores; if it is "Wandering Ghost," the mind is confused and the person is restless when sitting or lying; if it is "Returning Ghost," the spirit and soul quietly support the body, the breath is calm, but the person is unwilling to speak. To determine where the illness was contracted: if the Official Ghost is in the first line, the illness was caught inside the house; if it is in the second or third line, the illness was caught in the courtyard; if it is in the fourth or fifth line, the illness was caught on the road, or suffered from wind and rain. If the Official Ghost enters the Kan hexagram, the illness was caught on rivers, lakes, seas, or oceans; if the "Funeral Gate" is present in the hexagram, the illness was contracted at a funeral home; if the "Fortune and Virtue" and "Children" form an image, the illness was caused by drinking and eating; if the native hexagram meets the "Five Ghosts," the illness was caused by noisy and chaotic places. A divination example on fatal illness says: the hexagrams "Full," "Observing," "Need," "Splitting," "Regulation," "Traveling," "Brightness," "Darkness," "Guilt," "Breaking," and "Unity" do not require considering the seasons of prosperity and decline. If illness occurs with these ten hexagrams, it is certain to be fatal, and there is no need for further explanation.

洞林秘訣云：鬼殺刑剋主災疾，游魂入墓死亡推，若占親人爻要有，若還無有主傾危。虎刑一殺深為懼，其餘別惡盡堪禳，鬼爻持世須求鬼，若逢服藥進災殃。卦有子孫鬼不犯，便須服藥得安康，我若克他先嘔逆，他還克我瀉為傷。忌食鬼爻生肖肉，子孫能解卻無妨。

The Secret Essentials of the Cave Forest say: If the Official Ghost is accompanied byInauspicious Sha and harms the World Line and the Useful God, it indicates illness or misfortune. If the "Wandering Soul" hexagram appears or the World Line and Useful God are in the墓, it should be interpreted as death. If the divination concerns a relative, the corresponding line must be in the Upper Trigram; if it is not present in the hexagram, the person is in critical condition. TheInauspicious Sha of White Tiger and刑 are the most terrifying, while other evil spirits can be appeased. If the Official Ghost holds the World Line, one must first seek out the specific malevolent spirits causing trouble and perform appropriate rituals to appease them; otherwise, taking medicine blindly may worsen the condition. If the hexagram contains the Children line, the Official Ghost cannot cause harm, and taking medicine will lead to recovery. If the World Line overcomes the Response Line, the patient will first experience vomiting; if the Response Line overcomes the World Line, it will result in diarrhea. The patient should avoid eating meat of the生肖 corresponding to the Official Ghost, for example, if the ghost is associated with the Ox, beef should be avoided. Meat of the生肖 corresponding to the Children line can dispel illness, and eating it will not cause harm.

火珠林：疾病財爻鬼莫連，二爻俱發命危難，同人豐夬成凶對，蠱剝明夷是死緣。殺世鬼身三入墓，人將魂魄入黃泉，藥爻在世難醫療，虎動占身病未痊。卦入墓鄉並喪命，臥於床蓆病綿綿。占疾病何日愈云：占病問於何日痊，爻須旺相子扶身，龍蛇動處當輕利，狼虎過傷是重辰。重象不妨身帶困，交當必恐氣離身，己身自病何時瘥，福德來臨愈必真。

The Fire Pearl Forest says: When divining illness, the "Wealth" and "Official Ghost" lines must not be connected. If the Second Line is activated at the same time, there is danger to life. If the hexagram is "Following," "Brightening," or "Breaking," these are paired ominous hexagrams. If the hexagram is "Corruption," "Splitting," or "Blindness," it indicates the possibility of death. IfInauspicious Sha (evil stars) overcome the World Line, if the Official Ghost is on the person's line, and if the person's line and the World Line are both buried by the Official Ghost, the soul will be sent to the underworld. The "Children" line is the medicine line; if the medicine line is on the earth and is overcome, it is difficult to cure. If the "White Tiger" is activated and is on the person's line, the illness will not recover. If the hexagram falls into a burial place, it indicates death, and the person will be bedridden with illness. To determine when the illness will recover, one must ask on which day the illness will improve. The World Line must be prosperous and strong, and the "Children" line must support it. If the "Azure Dragon" and "Tie Snake" lines are activated, the illness will become lighter. If the "White Tiger" evil star harms the person, it is the time of a serious illness. If a heavy line is activated, it is not a problem, but the body will be weak. If the line changes and is in the position, it is feared that the breath will leave the body. When a person divines their own illness, if the "Fortune Virtue" and "Children" lines are in the position, the recovery will certainly happen.

海底眼：凡人問病要知因，安靜先尋世下神，次看鬼爻藏伏處，更將爻動察其真。用是病人宜有氣，福德醫師喜貼身，子孫發動勿服藥，卦宮旺相病逡巡。六位無財食不納，兄弟交重氣積累，鬼多不一原曾病，用發休囚損病人。問病宜先問卜人，父母逢之父母陳，官鬼臨之忌旺相，子孫克世藥無靈。財為祿命忌飛克，印綬交重病困沉，大忌世官乘月建，又嫌墓發克其身。鬼在內兮當夜重，官在外兮夜心輕，內外有鬼人昏困，不然舊病再來侵。代占最怕應持鬼，官墓持身命亦傾。又占症候云：候病金同木四肢，感寒疾喘氣虧羸，辰戌胃胸生嘔逆，丑連肚腹吐傷脾。火動勢極三焦渴，血心眼目有瘡痍，水土發寒因冷得，洩瀉虛勞耳腎衰。

The Eye at the Bottom of the Sea says: When people inquire about illness, they should first know the cause. If the lines in the hexagram are quiet, first look for what deity is hidden beneath the world line; then check where the official ghost line is hidden; then use the moving line to examine truth and falsehood. The useful god is the patient, and it should be strong; the fortune virtue and children line, representing the physician, is favorable if it is close to the world line. If the children line moves, the patient can recover without taking medicine. If the native hexagram is prosperous and strong, the illness will last a long time. In the six lines, if there is no wealth line, the patient will not have appetite. If the siblings line is repeated and moves, it indicates stagnation of qi. If there are many official ghosts but not concentrated, it indicates the patient has an old illness. If the useful god moves but is weak and confined, it will damage the patient's vital energy. When inquiring about illness, one should first clarify who is being divined for: if it is for the parents, then the parents line is used as the useful god. The official ghost line being strong and prosperous is most unfavorable. If the children line overcomes the world line, medicine will be ineffective. The wealth line is the禄命 line, and it is unfavorable if it is overcome by the flying god. If the parents and fortune virtue lines are repeated and move, the illness will be severe and difficult to recover from. Most unfavorable is when the official ghost line is on the world line and also rides the month builder, and also when the tomb line moves to overcome the world line. If the official ghost line is in the inner trigram, the illness is severe at night; if it is in the outer trigram, the illness is slightly lighter at night; if both inner and outer trigrams have official ghosts, the patient is dazed and confused, or it is a recurrence of an old illness. When divining for others, it is most dangerous if the response line has the official ghost line sitting on it; if the tomb of the official ghost line holds the body line, the patient's life is in danger. Further discussing symptoms: when divining about illness, if the official ghost line is of metal or wood, it indicates illness in the limbs, exposure to wind and cold, coughing, shortness of breath, deficiency of qi, and weakness of the body. If the official ghost line is the earth dog or the dog, it indicates vomiting in the upper abdomen and chest; if it is the ox, it affects the abdomen and causes damage to the spleen due to vomiting. If the fire line moves to its extreme, it indicates dryness of the three burners, internal heat attacking the heart, and sores in the eyes and ears. If the water and earth lines move, it indicates cold illness, caused by cold exposure, manifesting as diarrhea, weakness, tinnitus, and kidney failure.

鬼谷辨爻法：初爻、二爻、三爻、四爻、五爻、六爻——雞鴨、貓犬、豬、羊、牛、馬。天玄賦：雞鴨原在初爻，遇青龍則四時旺盛，貓犬端居二位，加白虎則兩件難全。（初爻雞鴨位。帶鬼或空亡，難為雞鴨。加大小耗，必有狐狸黃鼠所傷。若臨青龍，大吉。二爻為貓犬。寅爻旁動克戌爻，虎傷犬。戌爻克二爻，犬傷貓。貓爻若加吉殺，必善捕鼠。殺帶鬼，家有惡犬。逢空不利，旺空有犬無貓，有貓無犬，不能兩全。加白虎必然有傷，帶青龍必然旺相。）

The Ghost Valley method of distinguishing lines divides the six animals into positions: the first line governs chickens and ducks, the second line governs cats and dogs, the third line governs pigs, the fourth line governs sheep, the fifth line governs cattle, and the sixth line governs horses. The Tianxuan treatise says: chickens and ducks originally belong to the first line; if they meet the Azure Dragon, they will flourish in all four seasons. Cats and dogs are originally in the second line; if the White Tiger is added, it will be difficult to have both. The original commentary says: the first line is the position of chickens and ducks; if it carries the Official Ghost or falls into emptiness, chickens and ducks will not be well raised; if it meets Great Loss or Minor Loss, they will surely be bitten by foxes or yellow rats; if it meets the Azure Dragon, it is very auspicious. The second line is the position of cats and dogs: if the寅 line is activated and attacks the戌 line, it is the tiger injuring the dog; if the戌 line attacks the second line, it is the dog injuring the cat. If the cat line meets good malevolent stars, it will certainly be good at catching rats; if malevolent stars are accompanied by the Official Ghost, there will be evil dogs at home. If it meets emptiness, it is not favorable; if it is strong but meets emptiness, there will be dogs without cats or cats without dogs, and they cannot both be present. If the White Tiger is added, there will certainly be damage; if the Azure Dragon is added, it will certainly be prosperous.

三四豬羊，怕見官殺兄弟；五六牛馬，喜逢福德妻財。（三爻為豬。帶子孫妻財，必旺。帶兄弟，豬不長。帶官逢空，豬有損失。帶子孫胎爻，其家豬有胎。若見申酉二爻動，或克三爻，豬決有損失。四爻為羊。帶財福則旺，帶鬼殺則損失，逢空無羊。胎養臨爻則羊母旺，劫殺臨爻則羯羊多。朱雀臨大殺，在兌宮、乾宮動，羊生臊口。遇青龍動則吉，白虎動則凶。

The third and fourth lines indicate pigs and sheep. Be cautious of the presence of 'Official Ghost' (官鬼) and 'Siblings' (兄弟) which are ominous. The fifth and sixth lines indicate cattle and horses. Favorable signs are the presence of 'Fortune Virtue' (福德), 'Children' (子孙), and 'Wealth' (妻财). The original commentary states: if the third line is a pig and it is accompanied by 'Children' and 'Wealth', the pig will thrive; if accompanied by 'Siblings', the pig will not gain weight; if accompanied by 'Official Ghost' and it is empty, there will be losses. If 'Children' is present along with the 'Twin' (胎) line, the pigs are pregnant. If the lines of Shen and You are activated or they come to affect the third line, the pigs will definitely suffer losses. The fourth line represents sheep. If accompanied by wealth and fortune, the sheep will thrive; if accompanied by ghosts and ominous signs, there will be losses. If the line is empty, there will be no sheep. If the 'Twin' (胎) or 'Nourishment' (养) lines are present, the mother sheep will thrive. If 'Robbery Sha' (劫煞) is present, there will be many castrated sheep. If 'Vermilion Bird' (朱雀) is present along with 'Great Kill' (大杀) and it is activated in the Dui or Qian trigrams, the sheep will suffer from mouth sores. If 'Azure Dragon' (青龙) is activated, it is favorable; if 'White Tiger' (白虎) is activated, it is unfavorable.

五爻為牛。帶子孫，其家有子母牛，帶胎爻，其家牛有胎。凡遇青龍財福則吉，鬼殺白虎則凶。青龍臨爻，多是水牛。勾陳螣蛇，多是黃牛。若五爻帶金鬼，主牛夜啼。水鬼敗肚，木鬼腳痛，火鬼因觸熱，土鬼時氣發瘴。兄弟化兄弟，與人相合牛隻。旺相墓庫老牛，胎養小牛。六爻為驢馬。帶財福則吉，帶鬼殺則凶。如子日沖午爻，主走熱飲水，火動則無妨。此一爻依牛爻斷之。）

The fifth line represents a cow: if it carries the 'Children' element, there is a mother and child cow in the family; if it carries the 'Fetus' line, the cow is pregnant. Whenever the 'Azure Dragon' and wealth or fortune lines are present together, it is auspicious; if ghosts, evils, or the 'White Tiger' are present, it is inauspicious. If the 'Azure Dragon' is on the line, it is mostly a water cow; if the 'Gou Chen' or 'Teng Sha' are on the line, it is mostly a yellow cow. If the fifth line carries a metal ghost, the cow will moan at night; a water ghost indicates the cow has a stomach problem, a wood ghost indicates the cow has foot pain, a fire ghost indicates the cow has heat illness, and a soil ghost indicates the cow has an epidemic. If the 'Siblings' element transforms into 'Siblings', it indicates the cow was bought in partnership with others. If it is prosperous and strong but falls into the 'Storage' position, it is an old cow; if it carries the 'Fetus' or 'Nourishment' lines, it is a young cow. The sixth line represents a horse or donkey; if it carries wealth or fortune, it is auspicious; if it carries ghosts, evils, or the 'White Tiger', it is inauspicious. For example, if the day is the 'Zi' day and it conflicts with the 'Wu' line, the horse is overheated and drinks too much water; if a fire line is activated, there is no problem. This line should be interpreted in the same way as the cow line.

最嫌本命逢沖，須忌分宮受克。（丑爻為牛，寅爻為虎，亦作貓爻斷。午爻為馬，未爻為羊，酉爻為雞，戌爻為犬，亥爻為豬。以上六畜之本命，怕逢鬼殺、大小耗相刑相剋，又嫌本命空亡，皆主損折狸傷。一云：初雞鴨，二貓犬，三豬，四羊，五牛，六馬及驢騾，以上乃分宮也。如本命上卦，當看分宮為主。若吉神動來相生則吉，凶殺動來克害則凶。更得日辰扶持亦吉，若日辰刑沖則凶。能依此斷，萬無一失。）

The most disliked is when the original hexagram line corresponding to the six domestic animals is afflicted by a clash. It is also advisable to avoid any control over its respective sub-trigrams. The original commentary says: the You trigram represents cattle, the Yin trigram represents tigers, and can also be used to represent cats; the Wu trigram represents horses, the Wei trigram represents sheep, the You trigram represents chickens, the Xu trigram represents dogs, and the Hai trigram represents pigs. These are the original hexagram lines corresponding to the six domestic animals. They are afraid of encountering the "Official Ghost" malevolent spirits, "Great Loss" and "Minor Loss" to be punished and clashed with, and also dislike the original hexagram line falling into an empty state, which indicates loss or being bitten by wild animals. Another view says: the first line represents chickens and ducks, the second line represents cats and dogs, the third line represents pigs, the fourth line represents sheep, the fifth line represents cattle, and the sixth line represents horses, donkeys, and mules, which is arranged according to the sub-trigrams. If the original hexagram line is already in the upper trigram, then the sub-trigram should be taken as the main consideration. If auspicious spirits are activated to generate it, it is favorable; if malevolent spirits are activated to harm it, it is unfavorable. If it is supported by the day trigram, it is favorable; if it is punished and clashed with by the day trigram, it is unfavorable. If one can judge in this way, there will be no mistakes.

命逢生旺，當別吉凶；（生旺若逢本命，本為吉兆，卻看臨財福旺相則吉，臨鬼殺、大小耗則凶，反不如不旺。凡吉神扶命，旺處六畜必盛，若加鬼殺，得是休囚，庶幾損折亦輕。凡本命旺臨財福，卻加大小殺於其上，此主孳生雖盛，損失亦多，得失相半之兆。不可概論，而斷其吉凶。）爻值刑沖，須分表裡。（分宮若日辰刑沖，或動爻刑沖，當有吉凶之辨，表裡之分。凡分宮會財福、青龍，若逢刑沖則凶。若臨鬼殺、白虎，逢刑沖反吉，必主前雖損失，以後必然旺盛。大凡旺處逢沖則損，絕處逢沖則散，空處逢沖則不空。）

The native's line is favorable if it is in a state of birth and strength, but further distinction of good or bad fortune is still needed. The original commentary says: if birth and strength fall on the native's line, it is a good omen, but one must also consider what is attached to it— if it is attached to wealth or fortune and is prosperous and strong, then it is good; if it is attached to ghosts, evils, or 'Great Loss' and 'Minor Loss', then it is bad, and it would be better if it were not strong. Whenever good spirits support the native's line, the livestock will certainly flourish; if evil spirits are added, it would be better if the native's line were weak and confined, as the loss would be less. If the native's line is strong and attached to wealth and fortune, but also has major and minor evils on top, this indicates that although there will be much production, there will also be much loss, which is a sign of equal gains and losses, and cannot be generally considered as good or bad. When the line is subjected to punishment and clash, one must also distinguish between internal and external factors. The original commentary says: if the line of another palace is punished or clashed by the day branch or by the moving line, one must distinguish good or bad fortune and differentiate between internal and external factors: if the line of another palace is associated with wealth, fortune, or 'Azure Dragon', and is punished or clashed, then it is bad; if it is associated with ghosts, evils, or 'White Tiger', and is punished or clashed, it is actually good, indicating that although there was some loss before, it will certainly become strong later. Generally speaking, when a strong position is clashed, there will be loss; when a position of decline is clashed, there will be dispersion; when an empty position is clashed, it is not considered empty.

六獸可知顏色，斟酌相剋相生；八宮細論身形，定奪居中居外。（欲知顏色，不過是豬犬牛馬。凡遇六神所臨，六爻安靜，別無沖破，但言一樣顏色。若動相生相剋，方可言雜色。假如玄武臨用爻，被白虎動來克，此乃黑白相間，玄武旺則黑多，白虎衰則白少，兩爻衰旺相停，黑白相半。且如青龍臨用爻，白虎動來克，又加勾陳動來生，此乃三色花，黃白黑相間，即玳瑁色。

The Six Beasts can be used to determine the color of the animal's fur, which requires considering their mutual generation and control. The eight palaces can be used to analyze the animal's body shape, and one must determine whether the animal is at home or outside. The original commentary says: to know the color of the fur, it is only about pigs, dogs, cattle, and horses. If the six spirits' lines are all quiet and not broken, then it is simply a single color. If there is movement and there is generation or control, then it is a mixed color. For example, if the Black Tortoise is on the Useful God and the White Tiger moves to control it, then it is black and white. If the Black Tortoise is strong, then black is more; if the White Tiger is weak, then white is less; if both lines are equally strong and weak, then it is half black and half white. Another example is if the Azure Dragon is on the Useful God, the White Tiger moves to control it, and the Gou Chen also moves to support it, then it is three-colored, with yellow, white, and black, which is the tortoiseshell color.

乾首、坤腹、離目、坎耳、兌口及尾、艮前足、震後足、巽腰。凡用爻臨玄武，在乾象，更無別爻相剋相生，乃是通身黑色。若逢坤象，白虎動來生克，必是黑頭白腹。若遇休囚，其白少。若逢生旺，通腹白。又如勾陳臨用爻，在坤象，被震宮或艮宮白虎動來相剋，乃黃身白腳。震言前腳，艮言後腳。以上略舉一二以為法，其餘分宮，仿此推詳。凡占，須以用爻所臨為本身顏色，若遇別爻沖剋及生扶，方可看其在腳言腳，在腰言腰。）

The Eight Trigrams correspond to different parts of the body: Qian represents the head, Kun represents the abdomen, Li represents the eyes, Kan represents the ears, Dui represents the mouth and tail, Gen represents the front legs, Zhen represents the back legs, and Xun represents the waist. If the Useful God is on 'Black Tortoise' and is in the Qian image, and there is no other yao to generate or control it, then the whole body is black. If it is in the Kun image and the White Tiger is activated to generate or control it, then the head is black and the abdomen is white. If it is in a weak and confined state, the white part is less; if it is in a strong and flourishing state, the entire abdomen is white. For example, if the Useful God is on 'Gou Chen' and is in the Kun image, and is controlled by the White Tiger from the Zhen or Gen palace, then the body is yellow and the legs are white. Zhen refers to the front legs, and Gen refers to the back legs. The above are just a couple of examples to illustrate the method; the rest should be analyzed in the same way. When divining about domestic animals, one must determine the color of the animal based on the deity that the Useful God is on. If there are other yao that clash or support it, then one can refer to specific parts: if it should be on the feet, then refer to the feet; if it should be on the waist, then refer to the waist.

洞林秘訣云：六畜牛馬生肖奇，為財為鬼便推之，生肖要看哪爻動，初爻雞鴨二犬貓。三豬四羊五牛地，六爻為馬可推之，以遠先推乾震馬，雞居巽卦雉居離。兌卦為羊艮為狗，坤卦為牛離兼之，坎為豚豕看財鬼，若值無財絕不宜。有財之卦畜財旺，卦若無財六畜衰，占畜忌逢刀砧卦，刀居砧上不通醫。離為屠殺歸鐺鑊，乾坤亦主破分離，更加六神時下看，占畜餘皆仿此推。

The "Donglin Secret Manual" says: Each of the six domestic animals, such as cattle and horses, has its own zodiac sign. Whether it is considered "Wealth" or "Official Ghost" depends on this. To determine which line is active, first look at which line is moving: the first line corresponds to chickens and ducks, the second to dogs and cats, the third to pigs, the fourth to sheep, the fifth to cattle, and the sixth to horses, and so on. If considering the hexagram's trigram, horses are associated with Qian and Zhen trigrams, chickens belong to Xun trigram, pheasants to Li trigram, sheep to Dui trigram, dogs to Gen trigram, cattle to Kun trigram, and pigs to Kan trigram. Still, one must consider wealth and official ghost lines— if there is no wealth line in the hexagram, it is not suitable. If there is a wealth line, both the animal and wealth are prosperous; if there is no wealth line, the domestic animals are in decline. Divination for domestic animals should avoid the "knife and砧" hexagram, as the knife on the砧 indicates that the animal's illness cannot be cured. The trigram Li represents butchering, and livestock is cooked in the pot. Qian and Kun trigrams also govern cutting and separation. One should also combine the current Six Spirits to determine the rest of the divination for domestic animals.

鬼谷辨爻法：初爻、二爻、三爻、四爻、五爻、六爻——欄廄、鞍、水草、牛馬、人力、主人。周公斷牛馬歌：但占牛馬泰成殃，坤腹乾頭是倒裝，夬是力強寧畏熱，若逢益卦怕刀傷。離為虛市遭屠殺，坎卦重爻入鑊湯，噬嗑頥需咸入鼎，怕逢坤艮被分張。更以刀砧分上下，若無諸殺始為昌。經驗云：買牛買馬隻宜財，大怕兄興鬼發來，若是父搖空費力，子孫發動是佳哉。

The "Ghost Valley Method of Divining Lines" assigns爻positions to cattle and horses: the first line represents the stall, the second line the saddle and equipment, the third line water, grass, and feed, the fourth line the cattle and horses themselves, the fifth line the human labor, and the sixth line the owner. The Duke of Zhou's "Song of Divining Cattle and Horses" states that if the "Great Reversal" hexagram is obtained, it brings disaster, because the Earth element is above and the Heaven element is below, forming an inverted image. If the "Breaking Through" hexagram is obtained, the cattle and horses are strong and not afraid of heat. If the "Increase" hexagram is obtained, there is fear of being cut by a knife. If the "Fire" hexagram is obtained, it is like entering a bustling market and being slaughtered. If the "Water" hexagram has a repeated line, it is like being put into a pot to be cooked. The hexagrams "Breaking Through," "Nourishing the Arm," "Waiting," and "Intimacy" also indicate being put into a cooking pot. One should fear encountering the Earth and Mountain hexagrams, as the livestock will be cut up and slaughtered. One should also distinguish between "knife" and "block": if the knife is on top of the block, it is ominous; if the knife is below the block, it is harmless. Only if there are no such ominous influences is it considered favorable. "Experience" says: buying cattle and horses is most suitable when the "Wealth" line is prosperous and strong, and most dangerous when the "Siblings" line is active and the "Official Ghost" line is active; if the "Parents" line is moving, it is a waste of effort; if the "Children" line is active, it is the best.

鬼谷辨爻法：初爻、二爻、三爻、四爻、五爻、六爻——耕、種、田段、秧苗、早禾、大禾。袁天綱占田禾法：六爻不可鬼臨一，若值發動逐一尋，金爻生蟲火世熟，木與土世主豐登。若無諸殺相沖克，無殺其年十倍贏，若值震離相配合，自然豐稔動歡聲。

The "Ghost Valley Method of Distinguishing Lines" is a branch of the Tian He school that assigns specific lines to different aspects of farming: the first line represents plowing, the second line represents sowing, the third line represents the field section, the fourth line represents seedlings, the fifth line represents early crops, and the sixth line represents late mature crops. Yuan Tianzhang's "Method of Divining Crops" states that among the six lines, seeing no "Official Ghost" is favorable. If there is a moving line, one should investigate it step by step: if the metal line holds the world position, crops will suffer from pests; if the fire line holds the world position, rice will have a bountiful harvest; if the wood or earth lines hold the world position, they also indicate a good harvest of all grains. If there are no凶煞 such as "Great Loss" or "Minor Loss" coming to clash and control, the year will bring ten times the profit. If the hexagram consists of the Zhen and Li trigrams, there will naturally be a bountiful harvest, and people will rejoice.

卜筮元龜：世貞行年為田地，應悔為種為荒蕪，世克應兮倉廩積，外克內兮倉廩虛。初爻為田二為種，三為生長四苗秀，五為早禾主收成，六是田夫主災咎。初爻鬼克田瘦瘠，二爻鬼克重種植，三爻鬼克多穢草，四爻鬼克費耘力。五爻鬼克阻收成，六爻鬼克憂疾病，金爻為鬼旱蚯多，火爻大旱年饑荒。水鬼水災木鬼耗，土爻化鬼定分張，卦中兩鬼兩家共，年豐須是鬼空亡。大抵財爻宜旺相，不值空亡為上吉，六爻刑殺不加臨，年穀豐登倉庫實。

The Book of Divination and Prophecy says: The World Line and the Inner Trigram "Zhen" represent farmland and the current year's fortune. The Response Line and the Outer Trigram "Hui" represent seeds and wasteland. If the World Line overcomes the Response Line, granaries will be full. If the Outer Trigram overcomes the Inner Trigram, granaries will be empty. The First Line represents farmland, the Second Line represents seeds, the Third Line represents growth, the Fourth Line represents crops developing ears, the Fifth Line represents early harvest and determines the yield, and the Sixth Line represents farmers and indicates calamities. If the Official Ghost overcomes the First Line, the farmland is barren. If it overcomes the Second Line, new seeds must be sown. If it overcomes the Third Line, there are many weeds in the field. If it overcomes the Fourth Line, weeding is laborious. If it overcomes the Fifth Line, the harvest is obstructed. If it overcomes the Sixth Line, the farmer is sick. The Official Ghost belonging to metal indicates drought and pests; belonging to fire indicates severe drought and famine; belonging to water indicates water disaster; belonging to wood indicates loss; and if the Earth Trigram transforms into the Official Ghost, the harvest will definitely be dispersed. If there are two Official Ghosts in the hexagram, it means two families are cultivating together. To achieve a bountiful harvest, the Official Ghost should fall into the empty state. Generally, the "Wealth" Trigram should be prosperous and strong, and not fall into the empty state is the best fortune. If the Sixth Line is not afflicted by punishments or evils, the year's grain will be abundant and the granaries will be full.

洞林秘訣：土卦土爻為稼穡，利坤艮卦兼財得，木旺動來禾損傷，金動旺克扶萬一。坎卦多水離多旱，子孫為苗母田段，土爻為鬼是官田，父母化鬼同此斷。土宮土卦更逢升，定主連年添產貫。農人問卜今年事，財旺福興收十倍，鬼現神只願未還，父動有害無生氣。水動多霖火旱枯，木動今春桑葉貴，土動蟲傷更有災，金動切防官事至。

The "Donglin Secret Manual" says: The earth trigram and earth爻 indicate crops, and are favorable for the trigrams of坤 and 艮, and can also bring wealth. When the wood爻 is strong and active, it may overcome the earth, causing damage to the crops; at this time, if the metal爻 is active and strong, it can overcome the wood, thus helping the crops to some extent. The trigram of Kan indicates excessive waterlogging, while the trigram of Li indicates severe drought. The "children" represent the crops, and the "parents" represent the fields. If the earth爻 is the official ghost, or if the "parents"爻 transforms into the official ghost, it indicates that the land belongs to the government. If the trigrams of坤 and 艮, which represent the earth palace, are accompanied by the trigram of Sheng, it definitely indicates continuous increase in family wealth. When farmers consult about the harvest of the current year: if the "wealth" is strong and the "fortune virtue" is flourishing, the harvest will be ten times as much; if the official ghost appears, it means a vow has been made to a deity but not yet fulfilled; if the "parents"爻 is active, it will be harmful to the harvest, and the crops will lack vitality. If the water爻 is active, there will be excessive rain; if the fire爻 is active, there will be drought and withering; if the wood爻 is active, the price of mulberry leaves in spring will be high; if the earth爻 is active, there will be more insect damage and additional disasters; if the metal爻 is active, one must be careful to prevent legal troubles.

天玄賦：家有千鍾，皆出田中之玉粒；庫藏百寶，安如筐內之銀絲。先言農力之勤勞，熟稻豈辜於八月；次論育蠶之節令，植桑不負於三春。（凡占農田，以世為田，以應為天。應爻臨水生世，及加青龍、玄武生合世爻，豐稔之歲可卜矣。若見應加朱雀，動克世爻，田禾必損。或世臨勾陳，動克應爻，主缺水。若應爻相合比和，看卦中何爻發動，水動生克世吉，火動生克世凶。內卦為蠶，外卦為養蠶人。內生外吉，外克內凶。內生旺蠶旺，外興隆人多。內外相生吉，相剋凶。凡占須要巳午上卦為吉，巳午發動乃大吉。艮卦離卦大吉，坎卦兌卦大凶，逢四五月卦大吉。）

The Tianxuan Assignment says: A family with a thousand measures of grain all comes from the jade-like grains in the fields; a storehouse full of various treasures is most secure when the silver threads are safely in the baskets. First, it speaks of the toil of farming, where the rice ripens without failing in August; then it discusses the timing of raising silkworms, where planting mulberry trees does not disappoint in spring. The original commentary says: When divining about farmland, take the World Line as the field and the Response Line as heaven. If the Response Line is connected with water and generates the World Line, or if it is joined by the Azure Dragon or the Black Tortoise to generate and harmonize with the World Line, then a bountiful harvest can be predicted. If the Response Line is joined by the Vermilion Bird and attacks the World Line, the crops will suffer damage; or if the World Line is connected with Gou Chen and attacks the Response Line, it indicates a lack of water. If the Response Line and the World Line are in mutual generation and harmony, then look at which line in the hexagram is active: if a water line moves and generates the World Line or attacks the World Line, it is good; if a fire line moves and generates or attacks the World Line, it is bad. When divining about silkworms, take the Inner Trigram as the silkworms and the Outer Trigram as the people who raise them: if the Inner Trigram generates the Outer Trigram, it is good; if the Outer Trigram attacks the Inner Trigram, it is bad; if the Inner Trigram is strong and flourishing, the silkworms will be abundant; if the Outer Trigram is prosperous, there will be more people; if the Inner and Outer Trigrams mutually generate, it is good; if they mutually attack, it is bad. When divining about silkworms, the hexagrams on the巳 and午 are favorable, and if these lines are active, it is especially good. The Qian and Li Trigrams are especially favorable, while the Kan and Dui Trigrams are especially bad. If the hexagram is from April or May, it is favorable.

剖分內外三爻，總合農桑二事。（凡占農，以初爻為種，二爻為秧，三爻為人力，四爻為牛，五爻為天，六爻為水。若占蠶桑，以初爻為種，二為苗，三為人，四為桑，五為箔，六為繭。以上六爻旺相者吉，休囚庫墓者凶，若逢大殺、大耗、小耗，皆為凶兆。）

Dividing the third line of the inner and outer hexagrams separately can summarize matters related to farming and sericulture. The original commentary states: when divining about farming, the first line represents the seed, the second line the seedlings, the third line the labor force, the fourth line the oxen, the fifth line the weather conditions, and the sixth line the water. When divining about sericulture, the first line represents the silkworm eggs, the second line the silkworm larvae, the third line the sericulturist, the fourth line the mulberry leaves, the fifth line the mulberry leaves' framework, and the sixth line the silk cocoon. If all six lines are prosperous and strong, it is auspicious; if they are weak and confined or fall into the墓 (grave) position, it is inauspicious. If any of the lines encounter 'Da Sha' (Great Kill), 'Da Hao' (Great Loss), or 'Xiao Hao' (Minor Loss), it is a sign of misfortune.

六爻遭逢鬼殺，可謂全凶；五行弗遇官爻，方為大吉。（農田：若見鬼在初爻，種不對，或不萌。鬼在二爻，必欠秧。鬼在三爻，農力不到，若加凶殺，田夫有病。鬼在四爻，欠牛力，或牛有損，空亡無牛。鬼化兄或兄化鬼，與人合牛，工作不利。鬼在五爻，天意不順。鬼在六爻，必缺水。占蠶：鬼在初爻，種不出。在二爻，出後不能旺盛。在三爻，蠶娘有病。在四爻，葉必貴。在五爻，上箔有損。在六爻，財微薄，必無好蠶，亦無好絲。六爻無鬼，田蠶自然興旺。凡遇鬼爻，須看五行所屬，及觀衰旺動靜。鬼爻屬金發動，持克世爻，主蝗蟲之災。水爻動帶鬼，狂霖損稼。火鬼必主亢旱，土鬼里社興災。占蠶：水鬼防鼠耗，木鬼二眠有傷，金鬼多白僵，其年吃葉多，火鬼頭黃殼不生，土鬼蠶沙發熱蒸傷。）

If the 'Official Ghost' is present in the Six Lines divination, it is considered entirely unfavorable; only when the Five Phases do not encounter the 'Official Ghost' can it be considered a great blessing. The original commentary explains this in two parts. First, regarding farming: if the 'Official Ghost' is in the first line, the seeds are not suitable or do not sprout; if it is in the second line, the seedlings are insufficient; if it is in the third line, human effort is lacking, and if combined with otherInauspicious Sha, the farmer may fall ill; if it is in the fourth line, there is a lack of oxen or the oxen are injured, and if it falls into the empty position, there are no oxen at all; if the 'Official Ghost' transforms into Siblings or Siblings transform into the 'Official Ghost', it indicates cooperation with people for plowing, but the work will not proceed smoothly; if it is in the fifth line, the weather is unfavorable; if it is in the sixth line, there is definitely a lack of water. As for silkworm farming: if the 'Official Ghost' is in the first line, the silkworm eggs do not hatch; if it is in the second line, the silkworms hatch but do not grow well; if it is in the third line, the silkworm mother is ill; if it is in the fourth line, mulberry leaves are expensive; if it is in the fifth line, damage occurs during the mulberry sheeting process; if it is in the sixth line, the yield is poor, with neither good silkworms nor good silk. If the Six Lines do not contain the 'Official Ghost', farming and silkworm farming will naturally flourish. Whenever the 'Official Ghost' appears, one must examine its Five Phases and whether it is strong, weak, active, or still: if the 'Official Ghost' belongs to metal and is active and attacks the World Line, it indicates a locust disaster; if a water line with the 'Official Ghost' is active, it indicates heavy rain damaging crops; if the 'Official Ghost' belongs to fire, it indicates a severe drought; if the 'Official Ghost' belongs to earth, it indicates disasters in the village and community. For silkworm divination: if the 'Official Ghost' belongs to water, one must guard against mice consuming the silkworms; if it belongs to wood, the silkworms may be injured during the second molt; if it belongs to metal, there will be many cases of white僵 disease, and the silkworms will eat a lot of leaves that year; if it belongs to fire, the silkworms will turn yellow and fail to form cocoons; if it belongs to earth, the mulberry leaves will become hot and steam, harming the silkworms.

陽陰相半，須加四獸參詳；財福俱全，更互六神推究。（田蠶皆宜陰陽相和，水火相半，庶能昌盛。純陰不生，純陽不化，陰陽交合，然後萬物生。凡占得陽陰相半，外陰內陽，內外相生，大吉之兆。占蠶須看六神持克，倉屏云：青龍旺相入財福，春蠶盈盈滿筐簇，管取竿頭白雪香，會看箱內銀絲足。朱雀旺相入兄弟，必定桑鏗食不濟，若當離象動凶神，蠶室須防火災至。

Yin and Yang each take up half, but also need the four animals to be considered; if both wealth and happiness are present, it is necessary to examine them with the Six Spirits. The original commentary says: farming and sericulture are suitable when Yin and Yang are in harmony and water and fire each take up half, then prosperity can be achieved. Pure Yin cannot produce, pure Yang cannot transform; only when Yin and Yang combine can all things be generated. If a divination shows Yin and Yang each taking half, the outer trigram is Yin and the inner trigram is Yang, and the inner and outer trigrams mutually generate, it is a great auspicious sign. For sericulture, one should look at how the Six Spirits relate to the Useful God. Cangping says: if the Azure Dragon is prosperous and strong and enters the wealth and happiness, spring silkworms will be abundant, filling baskets and clusters, and the silk will be as white as snow hanging on poles, with silver silk filling the boxes. If the Vermilion Bird is prosperous and strong and enters the Siblings, there will certainly be a shortage of mulberry leaves and insufficient silkworm food; if there is also aInauspicious Spirit (malevolent spirit) moving in the fire trigram, the silkworm house must be guarded against fire.

勾陳帶鬼多黃死，若遇財爻黃繭多，卦中發動並遲滯，若值凶神可奈何！螣蛇水鬼害頭蠶，正要烘時卻受寒，縱得絲來筐篚內，明朝絺綌也應難。白虎若臨財福中，箔中多是白頭公，更逢兄弟交重惡，急急祈求一半空。玄武若臨咸池動，多是女人帶厭來，急求蠶福來扶救，庶免春蠶目下災。田蠶皆以財爻為主，生旺全收，無氣半收，空亡大折。鬼空財旺必稱心，有鬼無財主大損，若遇子孫持世旺，六爻有鬼亦無妨。）

The "Gou Chen" brings in the "Official Ghost," resulting in many yellow僵 worms dying; if the "Wealth"爻 appears, there will be more yellow cocoons. Although the hexagram may have active elements, they are delayed, and if combined withInauspicious Spirit, there is nothing that can be done. The "Teng Sha" combines with the water ghost, harming the first batch of silkworms. When the silkworms need warmth, they suddenly get cold. Even if the silk is spun and placed in baskets, it will be difficult to weave into hemp cloth the next day. If the "White Tiger" is present in the wealth or fortune爻, there will be many white-headed silkworms that do not spin silk. If further combined with the evil influence of "Siblings," even urgent prayers and offerings will only be half effective. If the "Xuan Wu" is combined with the "Xian Chi" and becomes active, it is mostly due to women bringing impure influences, so it is necessary to urgently pray to the silkworm deity for protection to avoid disaster for the spring silkworms. Both farming and silkworm rearing depend on the "Wealth"爻: if the wealth爻 is strong and flourishing, there will be a full harvest; if it lacks vitality, there will be a partial harvest; if it falls into the empty亡, there will be a great loss. If the "Official Ghost" is empty but the wealth爻 is strong, it will certainly be satisfactory; if there is an "Official Ghost" but no wealth爻, it indicates a major loss; if the "Children"爻 holds the world and is strong, even if there are six "Official Ghost"爻, there will be no harm.

興衰得位，方能保其豐穰；動靜有常，庶可明其得失。（凡占，先看空亡，次看財鬼衰旺。若鬼旺財衰，荒歉之徵，財旺鬼衰，豐稔可卜。田蠶二卦，相去不遠，其中所主，各有分辨。占田：以世為主，水火不可相勝。水動生世，春有滋育，夏多時雨。水旺克世，淫淋不止，巨侵飄泊。卦中有水火爻生世，水火即濟，豐登可擬。占蠶：以巳午為蠶命，發動旺相，皆大吉之象，旁爻動來生有利，來克主有大損。）

Prosperity and decline each take their proper position, only then can harvest be secured; stillness and movement conforming to the usual order can clarify gains and losses. The original commentary says: In divination, first examine the empty and fallen positions, then look at the prosperity and strength of the 'Wealth' and 'Official Ghost' lines. If the 'Official Ghost' is strong and the 'Wealth' line is weak, it indicates a poor harvest; if the 'Wealth' line is strong and the 'Official Ghost' is weak, a good harvest can be predicted. The principles of divination for fields and sericulture are not far apart, but the things they represent differ. For fields, the 'World Line' is the main focus, and water and fire should not be excessive. If a water line moves and generates the 'World Line', spring brings moisture and summer brings timely rain; if the water line is strong and overcomes the 'World Line', there will be continuous heavy rain and great floods destroying crops. If both water and fire lines appear in the卦 and support the 'World Line', forming the 'Water and Fire in Harmony' hexagram, a bountiful harvest can be expected. For sericulture, the巳 and午 lines represent the life of the silkworm. If these lines are active and strong, it is a great auspicious sign; if other lines move to support them, it is beneficial, but if they are overcome, there will be great loss.

鬼谷辨爻法：初爻、二爻、三爻、四爻、五爻、六爻——耆保、縣司、州府、監司、臺部、聖駕。王輔嗣斷公訟歌：日辰克鬼我身贏，鬼剋日辰他身旺，日辰生鬼日遲遲，鬼生日辰事搖洋。日辰與鬼不相剋，此事終知有比和，日辰或與鬼沖並，兩邊相見自消磨。若並解神官事散，更逢天喜樂陶陶，世前為鎖後為關，鬼旺克身主脊杖。身克宗廟有刑憲，宗廟克身道理強，身衰怕被日辰克，死絕長年獄裡藏。宗廟死絕事當寧，大壯知他理不明，子孫臨身知事散，鬼來克世是輸名。明夷卦主幽囚禁，父母爻交事未亨，鬼在伏中難解脫，財居飛上易調停。眾陽在外無輸象，刑煞臨身自煞刑。

The "Ghost Valley Method of Distinguishing Lines" divides the lines for lawsuits as follows: the first line represents the elderly village elders and local officials, the second line represents the county office, the third line represents the prefecture and governor's office, the fourth line represents the supervisory officials, the fifth line represents the central government departments, and the sixth line represents the emperor. Wang Fuxi's "Song of Judging Public Disputes" says: if the day branch controls the "Official Ghost," my side will win; if the "Official Ghost" controls the day branch, the opposing side is strong. If the day branch generates the "Official Ghost," the lawsuit will last a long time; if the "Official Ghost" generates the day branch, the matter will be unstable. If the day branch and the "Official Ghost" are not mutually controlling, the case will eventually be resolved in harmony; if they are in conflict or conjunction, the two sides will settle the matter immediately. If there is also the "Relief Deity," the lawsuit will be resolved; if there is also the "Heavenly Joy," it will be a happy outcome. The two lines before the "World Line" are called "lock," and the three lines after are called "gate." If the "Official Ghost" is strong and controls the "World Line," the person will be punished with a whip. If the "Hexagram Body" controls the sixth line "Ancestral Temple" line, there will be legal punishment; if the "Ancestral Temple" line controls the "Hexagram Body," then my side is justified. If the "Hexagram Body" is weak and is controlled by the day branch, or falls into a dead or absolute position, the person will be imprisoned for a long time. If the "Ancestral Temple" line is in a dead or absolute position, the lawsuit will be resolved. If the hexagram is "Da Zhuang," it indicates the opposing side is wrong; if the "Children" line is on the "World Line," the lawsuit will be resolved; if the "Official Ghost" controls the "World Line," it means losing the case. If the hexagram is "Ming Yi," it indicates being imprisoned; if the "Parents" line is active, the matter is not yet smooth; if the "Official Ghost" is hidden, it will be difficult to resolve temporarily; if the "Wealth" line is on top of the "Flying God," it is easy to mediate. If all the yang lines are in the outer trigram, there is no sign of losing; if the "Crime God" is on the line, it means self-inflicted punishment.

天玄賦：偉哉行事有功，廣播聲名於天下；必也使民無訟，須存正直於心中。大爭則兵革交征，小競則文詞相訴。欲分勝負，先將世應推詳。（凡爭訟曲直，世克應者我勝，應克世者他勝。然應雖克世，而世旺，彼雖害我，而不能深傷。世靜而克應，而應發動，彼有通變之謀，終於不受克。若有吉神扶持，必有貴人倚靠，終不能侵。若世應皆旺，勝負之機未可決，但究日辰生合何爻，並刑剋哪爻，便知端的。）

The Tianxuan Treatise says: How great it is to be a person who accomplishes deeds and gains renown throughout the land; yet more important still is to ensure that the people have no disputes. This requires one to hold in mind the principle of "uprightness." Great conflicts may lead to war, while minor disputes are settled through words. To determine the outcome, one must first carefully examine the World Line and Response Line. The original commentary explains: whenever there is a dispute over right and wrong, if the World Line overcomes the Response Line, then I win; if the Response Line overcomes the World Line, then the other side wins. However, even if the Response Line overcomes the World Line, as long as the World Line is prosperous and strong, the other side may desire to harm me but will not be able to do so. If the World Line is quiet and overcomes the Response Line, yet the Response Line is active, this indicates that the other side has another plan, and ultimately will not be overcome by me. If there is a favorable deity supporting, there will be a nobleman to rely on, and the other side will ultimately not be able to invade. If both the World and Response Lines are prosperous, the outcome of victory or defeat cannot be determined at once. One must then carefully examine which line is generated and harmonized by the Day Branch and which is subjected to刑 or克, and thus know the truth of the matter.

要決因依，但把鬼爻推究。（占訟以鬼爻為主，更以六神參究，來歷因依，瞭然在目矣。青龍鬼：婚姻訟。朱雀鬼：罵詈口舌、文書契約、吏人爭鬥、喧鬧是非。勾陳鬼：田土屋宅、山林樹木訟，若兄化鬼，房族致爭。螣蛇鬼：被人連累。白虎鬼：與人鬥毆殺傷，若帶凶殺動，事屬刑名。玄武鬼：姦淫盜賊訟。）

To determine the origin and cause of a case, one should focus on the "Official Ghost" line. The original commentary says: When divining a lawsuit, the "Official Ghost" line is the main focus, and the Six Spirits are used to further investigate, making the origin and cause of the matter clear. A "Blue Dragon" Official Ghost indicates disputes related to marriage; a "Vermilion Bird" Official Ghost suggests disputes involving insults, verbal conflicts, documents, contracts, disputes among officials, and public disturbances; a "Gou Chen" Official Ghost indicates disputes over land, houses, forests, and trees. If the "Siblings" line transforms into the "Official Ghost," it indicates disputes among relatives within the same family. A "Teng Sha" Official Ghost suggests being implicated by others; a "White Tiger" Official Ghost indicates physical fights and injuries, and if accompanied byInauspicious Sha (malevolent spirits), the case involves serious criminal offenses; a "Black Tortoise" Official Ghost indicates cases involving adultery and theft.

官克應，他人受責；鬼傷世，自己逢屯。（凡占訟，世應相剋，以決輸贏。一說：世克應，我訟他，應克世，他訟我。輸贏從官斷。鬼克世，官事不順，我費資財；鬼克應，他人遭責，彼虧我勝。應空不受克，他人亦無妨。世空同斷。又云：世應俱空，兩家退悔，官司將有解散之意。）

The Official Ghost line controls the Response Line, meaning others will suffer punishment; the Official Ghost line harms the World Line, meaning I will face difficulties. The original commentary says: when divining a lawsuit, the outcome is determined by whether the World Line and the Response Line control each other. One interpretation says: if the World Line controls the Response Line, it means I am accusing him; if the Response Line controls the World Line, it means he is accusing me; however, the actual outcome of winning or losing is still determined by the Official Ghost line. If the Official Ghost line controls the World Line, official matters will not go smoothly, and I will have to spend money; if the Official Ghost line controls the Response Line, others will be punished, meaning he will lose and I will win. If the Response Line is empty, it will not be affected by control, and others will not be harmed; the same applies if the World Line is empty. It is also said: if both the World Line and the Response Line are empty, both parties will have a desire to withdraw, and the lawsuit will likely end in a settlement.

一卦兩官，權柄何曾歸一；六爻無父，文書終久難成。（一卦之中，不宜見兩鬼出現，權不歸一，事體反覆。若一鬼旺動，即取其方向，便知哪一官執權。父母為文書案卷，卦無父母，案卷未成；父母旺空，文書未就；休囚空亡，其事不成。或父母逢太歲、月建沖，上司必有駁。父母加太歲動，主上司提案卷。父母帶吉神，終無大咎，凶神同位則事凶。）

In a single hexagram, if two 'Official Ghosts' appear, the authority does not belong to one place; among the six lines, if there is no 'Parents' element, official documents and records will ultimately not be completed. The original commentary says: it is not advisable to have two 'Official Ghosts' in a hexagram, as this indicates that authority is not unified and matters will be repeated. If one of the 'Official Ghosts' is strong and active, take the position where it is located to know which office is in charge. The 'Parents' element governs official documents and records: if the hexagram lacks 'Parents', the documents will not be completed; if 'Parents' is strong but falls into an empty position, the documents are not yet processed; if 'Parents' is weak, empty, or in a state of decline, the matter will not be completed. If the 'Parents' element is disturbed by the year's master or the month's builder, the superior will certainly reject it; if 'Parents' combines with the year's master and is active, it indicates that the superior will retrieve the documents. If 'Parents' is accompanied by auspicious spirits, there will be no major misfortune; if it is in the same position as malevolent spirits, the matter will be unfavorable.

他訴訟，宜鬼位休囚；我興詞，怕財爻旺相。（凡他訟我，要鬼位休囚，不宜旺相，不然其訟必成。妻財本克父母，若我興詞，不宜見之，若逢動或持世，狀詞終不准。若得日辰沖散財爻，我事庶幾可振。又云：他興訴，須要官鬼休囚墓絕，則無大害。）

Someone told me that the "Official Ghost" position should be weak and confined; but if I go to sue, I fear the "Wealth" hexagram is strong and prosperous. The original commentary says: whenever someone sues me, the "Official Ghost" should be weak and confined, not strong and prosperous, otherwise the lawsuit will certainly be filed. The "Wealth" hexagram originally overcomes the "Parents," and the "Parents" represent the lawsuit documents. Therefore, if I want to initiate a lawsuit, I should not see the "Wealth" hexagram; if the "Wealth" hexagram is active or holds the main position, the case will not be accepted. If the day branch conflicts and disperses the "Wealth" hexagram, then there is still a chance for my case. It also says: when someone sues another, the "Official Ghost" should be weak, confined, and in a state of burial to avoid major harm.

官鬼空亡墓絕，須知無貴主張。（凡占，不問原告被告，若官鬼空亡墓絕，或卦無官鬼，決無官府主張其事。鬼雖墓絕，而財爻旺動相生，此之謂絕處逢生，須用資財囑託，姑待官鬼旺相月日，方可成訟。更值子孫發動，仍復無氣，縱然費盡資財，亦無益於事。）

If the "Official Ghost" is in an empty position or in a state of death and decline, one should know that no one will take charge of the case. The original commentary says: whenever divining a lawsuit, whether the plaintiff or defendant, if the "Official Ghost" is in an empty position or in a state of death and decline, or if there is no "Official Ghost" in the hexagram, it can be concluded that no official authority will intervene in the matter. Although the "Official Ghost" is in a state of death and decline, if the "Wealth" line is strong and active, and comes to generate the "Official Ghost," this is called a revival in adversity. One must spend some money to bribe the officials, and only when the "Official Ghost" becomes strong and prosperous in the month and day, can the case be filed. If, in addition, the "Children" line becomes active and overcomes the "Official Ghost," and the "Official Ghost" still lacks vitality, then even if one spends all the money, it will be of no help.

世應帶合比和，終久有人和會。（若世應帶合，事體本要成，若但比和，而不相害，兩家有和會之心。若子孫動，當勸和。公事世應比和，而官鬼旺動，克傷世應，兩家欲休，官府不放。若遇解神，庶幾可散。）

The world and response lines are both combined with harmony, and eventually someone will mediate between them. The original commentary says: if the world and response lines are combined with mutual harmony, the matter is naturally going to be settled; if they are only harmonious but not harmful to each other, both parties also have the intention to reconcile. If the children line is activated, one should encourage them to reconcile. In public cases, if the world and response lines are harmonious but the official ghost is strong and active, causing harm to the world and response lines, this indicates that both parties want to give up, but the authorities will not allow it. If the relief deity appears, there is a possibility of resolving the dispute.

鬼化鬼，移權更案；兄化兄，蕩產傾家。（若遇鬼化鬼，其事反覆，或移權更案，事幹兩司，或舊事再發。前卦鬼衰，後卦鬼旺，昔日之事雖小，今日反成大事；前鬼旺後鬼衰，其事先重後輕，虎頭蛇尾。兄弟乃克財之神，若旺動，不免廣費資財，休囚稍可。若又化出兄弟，必主使兩重財，或兩處使錢。更加大耗，主蕩產傾家。若加劫殺及咸池，必被小人陰私，趁勢劫騙。若逢鬼動，終久必知之也。）

The "Official Ghost" transforming into "Official Ghost" indicates the transfer of authority or the replacement of documents; the "Siblings" transforming into "Siblings" suggests the loss of property and family wealth. The original commentary states: if "Official Ghost" transforms into "Official Ghost," the matter will be repeated, or there will be a transfer of authority and replacement of documents, involving two government offices, or a case being reopened. If the "Official Ghost" in the primary hexagram is weak but becomes strong in the resulting hexagram, a small matter from before may become a major issue today; if the "Official Ghost" in the primary hexagram is strong but becomes weak in the resulting hexagram, the matter will first be serious and then become minor, ending in a half-hearted manner. "Siblings" are the gods that harm wealth. If they are strong and active, there will certainly be a major loss of money; if they are weak and confined, the situation will be slightly better. If "Siblings" also transform, there will certainly be expenses in two places or spending in two different areas; if "Great Loss" is added, there will be the complete loss of property and family wealth. If "Robbery Sha" and "Salty Pool" are also present, one will certainly be deceived and defrauded by small people secretly taking advantage of the situation; if "Official Ghost" is also active, in the end one will eventually discover the truth.

太歲鬼臨，其事必干臺憲；天獄殺動，此身須入牢房。（占訟，若鬼加太歲及月建，必干臺憲。鬼衰難用此斷，自宜通變，取人事決之，庶無失矣。天獄殺、關鎖殺，俱見神殺章內。若世在艮宮，逢天獄及關鎖殺動克世爻，我必有關禁；若克應爻，則他有關禁。）

The "Official Ghost" is on the Tai Sui, meaning this case must involve the higher authorities of the provincial and central government; the "Heavenly Prison Killer" is activated, indicating the person will be imprisoned. The original commentary states: When the "Official Ghost" is combined with the Tai Sui and the Month Builder in divination for litigation, it certainly involves the higher authorities. However, if the "Official Ghost" is weak, then the judgment cannot be made in this way, and one must flexibly consider human affairs to make a decision, thus reducing errors. The principles of the "Heavenly Prison Killer" and the "Locking Killer" are all recorded in the chapter on divine omens. If the World Line is in the Gen Palace and encounters the Heavenly Prison and Locking Killers, which attack the World Line, then I will be imprisoned; if they attack the Response Line, then the other party will be imprisoned.

官旺日，則面折庭諍；鬼休時，則停囚長智。（占訟，欲知何日興，何日息，但把鬼爻推究。鬼旺日，其事必興，當見臨庭折證；若值鬼衰，其事必停；鬼值沖，官司有冗，未及究問；鬼值日辰刑，上司有言責，其事稍緩。）欲識何時結斷，鬼爻墓絕推詳。（占訟，始終成敗，皆從鬼斷，其事有定限，庶可推詳。夫結絕決斷，實為難事，其或動經一年半載，必須先達人事，度其輕重，知其時務，復取其占之卦爻。子孫發動，官鬼空亡，無氣入墓，窮其鬼絕月日，然後方可雍容推其意而言之。）要知不受刑傷，子位興隆剖決。（子孫為福德之神，官訟牽連獄囚，禁繫杖責臨身，此爻發動，一概可免。）

When the official ghost is prosperous and strong, one must confront and argue in court; when the official ghost is weak and confined, the person will remain in prison and gain knowledge. The original commentary says: When divining a lawsuit, one must know on which day it will start and on which day it will stop. Only by examining the official ghost line can this be determined. If the official ghost is strong, the matter will certainly arise, and there will be a court confrontation. If the official ghost is weak, the matter will certainly stop. If the official ghost is being冲 (conflicted), it indicates that the government is busy and cannot attend to the case. If the official ghost is being刑 (punished) by the day branch, it means the superior has spoken against it, and the matter will be delayed. To know when the case will conclude, one must examine the burial and decline of the official ghost line. The original commentary says: The success or failure of a lawsuit is determined by the official ghost line. The matter has a fixed limit, and this can be examined. However, actually reaching a judgment is difficult. Sometimes a case can be delayed for half a year or more. Therefore, one must first understand human nature and affairs, measure the seriousness of the case, and be aware of current circumstances before consulting the hexagram lines. Wait until the line of descendants is active, the official ghost is empty, has no strength, and is buried, and thoroughly investigate the month and day when the official ghost reaches its decline, then one can calmly draw a conclusion and explain it to others. To know whether one will suffer physical punishment, one must examine whether the line of descendants is strong. The original commentary says: The line of descendants is the god of fortune and virtue. Any case involving legal trouble, imprisonment, or corporal punishment can be exempted if this line is activated.

卜筮元龜云：青龍動主和，朱雀官偏拗，勾陳公差來，白虎杖比較。蛇鐵鎖拘，玄武吏校狡，若依此決推，百試無不效。占解刑法云：卦有刑來解判者，木刑金被才是也，雖然金動日辰沖，此亦還同未蒙解。占差遣何職人解云：大刑月建並來克，宜使其人著力氣，太歲爻驚克大刑，恩赦必來為救矣。

The Book of Divination and Prophecy says: "The Azure Dragon" indicates reconciliation; "The Vermilion Bird" encountering the Official Ghost signifies both parties holding firm to their positions and refusing to yield; "Gou Chen" moving indicates the arrival of an official; "The White Tiger" moving indicates being subjected to corporal punishment; "Teng She" moving indicates being bound in iron chains, the original character "Teng" is missing, only "She" remains; "The Black Tortoise" moving indicates officials being cunning and deceiving. By following this principle, it is always accurate. To determine how to remove legal punishment: if the hexagram contains a crime but also a remedy, for example, a wood line representing a crime being overcome by a metal line, although the metal line is active, if it is dispersed by the day branch, it is as if there is no remedy. To determine what kind of official should be sent for relief: if the "Great Crime" in the month builder is present and comes to attack, one should request someone who can overcome it to act; if the year stem is active and shocks and attacks the great crime, there will certainly be an act of mercy coming from above.

占禁繫云：何以知人憂禁得，抉剝遁蒙皆為例，蠱旅見之為獄中，六害日期為禁制。酉日卜得世戌來，卜者身憂入獄災，酉爻發動皆如此，卦臨酉戌亦還該。占公事出日云：欲知訟者言出時，卦生之日以為期，假令卦爻火為世，火位長生寅上推。先看鬼被日辰克，日辰克之出未得，日辰扶鬼事為遲，鬼剋日辰出無疑。

To determine if someone is in trouble with the law, the hexagrams 《Bao》, 《Dun》, and 《Meng》 are examples, as they all contain the image of 《Gen》 (Mountain). The hexagrams 《Gu》 and 《Lv》 indicate that the person is already in prison. The day of imprisonment is determined by the "Six Harm" day. For example, if the divination is done on a You day and the World Line is Xu earth, You and Xu are in mutual harm, so the person will be imprisoned that day. If the You爻 moves to harm Xu, it is also considered the same. If the hexagram contains You and Xu in mutual harm, it is also interpreted the same way. To determine when legal matters will be resolved, look at the day of the birth hexagram. Suppose the hexagram has a fire爻 holding the World Line, the long life of fire is in Yin, so start from Yin. First check if the Official Ghost is overcome by the Day Branch: if the Day Branch overcomes the Official Ghost, the person will be released soon; if the Day Branch supports the Official Ghost, the matter will be delayed; if the Official Ghost overcomes the Day Branch, the person will definitely be released.

占禁繫見關瀹、並與訴訟何人前後決云：外克內卦身先訟，內身克後被他論，上下比和不相害，則占世爻與應陳。陽鬼空亡身不訟，陰鬼休囚彼不論，二鬼比和名休囚，從此消散兩家分。占訴訟婚姻、田產、財物云：訴訟爭財卜得泰，寅午戌分劫殺亥，但言欲奪占其身，細想六爻看劫會。

In divination concerning legal cases, the term "guan" (official ghost) and "yue" (boiling) refer to the official and the plaintiff. If the outer trigram overcomes the inner trigram, it indicates that our side initiated the lawsuit first. If the inner trigram overcomes the outer trigram, it suggests that we were later accused by the other party. When the upper and lower trigrams are in harmony and do not harm each other, we should then refer to the world line and the response line for further analysis. If the official ghost is a yang line that falls in the empty position, our side does not need to initiate a lawsuit. If the official ghost is a yin line that is weak and confined, the other party will not file a lawsuit. If two official ghosts are in harmony and both are weak and confined, the legal dispute will dissipate, and both parties will part ways. In cases involving marriage, property, or wealth, if the dispute over wealth is divined and the result is the "Tai" hexagram, the "Tai" hexagram uses Jiayin wood as the official ghost and Guihai water as the wealth. The "jin shu" (triple harmony) of Yin-Wu-Xu (Fire triad) is located at Hai, indicating an attempt to seize another's wealth. Whenever there is an attempt to seize, we should determine which party's position the seizure is associated with, and carefully examine which of the six lines in the hexagram coincides with the "jin shu."

占訴訟爭財得財否云：卦中無財浪言說，財化為官徒費筆，得遁直須拋卻休，遇復報雲終不失。占訴訟是何色目財云：欲知財是他人物，本宮財是外宮出，財當本位若非公，忽是私財終有失。占訟有理否云：內外相生世應和，皆為得理更無過，相剋被嗔兼被責，參差即被下遭磨。貞悔世應兩比和，道理平平必無惑。

Divination about a lawsuit over property: if the hexagram lacks the 'Wealth' line, then it is all in vain; if the Wealth line transforms into the Official line, it is just a waste of effort. If the hexagram is 'Dun' (Retreat), one should give up early; if it is 'Fu' (Return), one can conclude that the property will not be lost. To determine what kind of property is being disputed: know that this property originally belongs to someone else, check whether the Wealth line comes from another trigram— if the Wealth line is not in its proper position, then it is not legitimate public property; if it is mistakenly considered private property, in the end it will be lost. To determine if the lawsuit is justified: if the inner and outer trigrams are mutually generating, and the World Line and Response Line are harmonious, then it is just and without fault; if they are mutually controlling, then one will be criticized and punished; if they are inconsistent, then one will be troubled by subordinates. If the 'Zhen' line and 'Hui' line, as well as the World Line and Response Line, are harmonious, then the case is evenly balanced, and there is no need for doubt.

占訴訟歷幾司云：卦涉兩司有兩鬼，三爻為官二爻吏，旺卦為關相為瀹，春分震旺巽為相。八卦還依八節推，繫者被關重被縛，瀹即為匙關為鎖，匙居鎖上囚內坐。瀹居關上即為關，更遇日辰沖破散。

To determine how many levels of court the case will go through, if the hexagram involves two departments, there will be two "Official Ghosts." The third line represents the official, and the second line represents the clerk. A prosperous hexagram is called "Guān" (lock), and a hexagram in its appropriate place is called "Yuè" (key). For example, during the spring equinox, the Zhen hexagram is strong, and the Xun hexagram is in its appropriate place, with all eight trigrams following theprosperous and strong of the eight solar terms. The person in custody is first detained, and if the case is serious, they may be bound. "Yuè" is the key, and "Guān" is the lock: when the key is placed on top of the lock, the prisoner is inside; if the key is above the lock, it becomes a prison. If the day branch breaks through, the detention will be released.

洞林秘訣云：第一先看卦名義，兄弟持世休論理，卦裡有財可爭財，天喜生內為勝宜。子孫解殺解官刑，伏神為鬼爭不止，鬼動克應他有刑，世應比和終須美。坎為獄門兼血光，子午血光同此意，卯酉破皮丑未逃，震足為鬼防刑治。巽為繩索吊牽連，坤離文章明順義，兌乾鬼殺旺金傷，無氣休囚輕不至。一鬼一司三鬼三，坤卦能順艮能止。聖人經言訟中吉，爭之不足謙有餘，貴己不至見終凶，不費資財勝了渠。

The Secret of the Hidden Forest says: First, examine the meaning of the hexagram's name. If "Siblings" is the world line, there is no need to discuss further; if the hexagram contains "Wealth," it can compete for this wealth; if "Heavenly Joy" generates the inner trigram, our side is favorable to win. "Children" can dispel calamities and resolve official punishments; if the official ghost is hidden and does not appear, disputes will not cease; if the official ghost is activated and attacks the response line, the opponent will be punished; if the world and response lines are harmonious, the outcome will ultimately be favorable. The trigram Kan represents the prison gate and also indicates bloodshed; if the world and response lines meet at Zi or Wu, it also signifies bloodshed; if Mao and You are in opposition, it indicates skin injuries; if Chou and Wei are in opposition, it indicates escape; the trigram Zhen represents the foot, and if the official ghost attacks the Zhen line, be cautious of punishment and injury to the feet. The trigram Xun represents a rope, indicating entanglement and connection; the trigrams Kun and Li represent writings, indicating clarity and reason; the trigrams Dui and Qian belong to metal, so if official ghosts and evil spirits are strong, be cautious of injuries from metal weapons; if they are weak and confined, the harm is light and will not affect the body. One official ghost involves one court, three official ghosts involve three courts; the trigram Kun brings smoothness, and the trigram Gen brings cessation. The sage in the Book of Changes discusses "Strife," saying that although good fortune may be obtained in strife, it is better to be humble rather than to compete; the key is to avoid involvement in disputes, for once a dispute arises, it is ultimately ominous; even without spending money, it is better than defeating the opponent.

火珠林云：論官吏訟入公庭，大壯欺他理不贏，子若臨身官事散，鬼來克世是輸名。明夷卦主憂囚禁，父母爻交事未寧，鬼在伏中難解脫，財來飛上易調停。陽爻在外無輸象，刑煞歸身自殺刑，虎動憂愁龍動吉，總無相剋是輕輕。

The Fire Pearl Forest says: When discussing lawsuits involving officials, if the hexagram obtained is Great Strength, it indicates that the opposing party is acting unjustly and the case is not in their favor; if the Children爻 is present on the World Line, the lawsuit will naturally dissipate; if the Official Ghost爻 attacks the World Line, it means losing the case. If the hexagram obtained is Brightness, it indicates the worry of imprisonment; if the Parents爻 is active, the matter will not be peaceful; if the Official Ghost is hidden below, it will be difficult to resolve temporarily; if the Wealth爻 is on top of the Flying God, the lawsuit can be easily settled. If a Yang爻 is in the Outer Trigram, there is no sign of losing; if the刑煞 is on the World Line, it indicates self-harm. If the White Tiger is active, there will be worry; if the Azure Dragon is active, it indicates good fortune; in the end, as long as the World Line and its associated deity are not attacked, the matter will be light.

海底眼云：禁繫憂官兩未萌，應為對主世為身，鬼旺墓鄉須下獄，官臨歲動達朝廷。鬼爻出現催公羊，卦若傷財理不明，應爻生鬼他遭責，身下藏官我不贏。卦值兩官田土事，兄爻發動起同人，財多損子災難脫，輕者流徙重者刑。脫事遇官尋福德，父興財發事關身，動爻克世人來損，鬼動虛憂假作真。

The Eye at the Bottom of the Sea says: When both the prohibition and official troubles have not yet appeared, take the response line as the other party and the world line as oneself. If the official ghost is strong and the world line falls into the tomb, imprisonment is certain. If the official ghost is on the heavenly stem and moves, the matter can reach the court. If the official ghost appears, the official business is urgent. If the wife's wealth is harmed in the hexagram, the reason is unclear. If the response line generates the official ghost, the other party will be blamed. If the official ghost is hidden beneath the world line, one cannot win. If there are two official ghosts in the hexagram, the lawsuit is about land. If the siblings line moves, it is caused by accomplices. If there is much wealth and the children line is harmed, disaster is unavoidable, with light punishment being exile and heavy punishment being imprisonment. If one wants to escape but meets the official ghost, one should seek whether the fortune and children can control it. If the parents line is strong and the wife's wealth is active, the matter is connected to oneself. If the moving line overcomes the world line, someone is harming one. If the official ghost moves, it is mostly a false alarm, and one must beware of mistaking falsehood for truth.
