太陰位，為後又為臣。凡有象形凶吉定，行兵主帥要知明，一一細分清辛本、川本作「情」。 占圓月，下小彼軍多。若總京本作「見」大時占我眾京本作「勝」，全京本作「總」無大小亦相和，青白定京本作「早」回戈。 出軍夜，看月好參詳。有兔主人占大勝，兔無反京本作「無兔還」是客軍強，仔細審形相京本作「須要細端詳」。

The position of the moon in divination signifies the queen and also the subordinate officials. All the various forms appearing beside the moon are used to determine fortune or misfortune; commanders leading troops must understand these thoroughly and examine them one by one. When observing a full moon, if the lower half appears smaller, it indicates the enemy has more troops; if the entire moon appears large, it suggests our forces are numerous and in a favorable position; if there is no distinction in size, it means both armies are evenly matched. If the moonlight is pale and bluish, it is advisable to withdraw troops early. On the night of military departure, one should carefully examine the moon. If the shape of the jade rabbit can be clearly seen in the moon, it foretells a great victory for the defending forces; if the rabbit shape cannot be seen, it indicates the opposing army is stronger. One should carefully observe the images within the moon.

占夜月，五色氣相當。此是京本作「時」交兵須謹京本作「警」慎，直須拚京本作「挨」得賞兒郎，慳吝必相傷。 太陰內，有暈使人驚。其象分明如刀字京本作「刃」，奸臣謀反事將成，密究速加刑京本作「庶無凶」。 守彼壘，吾督將須攻。月色無光灰京本作「如」粉樣，拔城不過一旬中，守將亦須凶。

Divination by the moon at night shows five-colored vapors appearing simultaneously with the moon. At this time, if there is a battle, one must be cautious and vigilant, and be willing to give generous rewards to soldiers. If one is stingy with rewards and refuses to give them, certain defeat and loss will follow. A halo appears within the moon's disk, causing alarm, and its shape clearly resembles a blade. The moon represents the position of ministers; a blade appearing within the halo signifies the image of ministers wielding weapons, indicating that a treacherous minister is about to carry out a coup. One should secretly investigate and swiftly punish them to avoid disaster; if revealed, it will alert the enemy and lead to unintended consequences. The enemy is holding their camp, and our general is about to attack. If the moon is dark and dim, like powdered ash, then the city will be captured within ten days, and the enemy commander will certainly suffer misfortune.

看夜月，五色氣相沖。皆京本作「此」是將災宜京本作「須」謹慎，直須重賞宴軍中，堅執禍相逢。 月生暈，厚薄四方停。此是三軍均力象，一邊有抱一辛本、川本、京本作「抱」邊贏，順抱若神兵。 月生暈，暈有珥兼生。將有火京本作「大」災難閃避，三朝有雨得安寧，無雨禍還京本作「須」成。

At night, looking at the moon, if one sees five-colored vapors conflicting with the moon, this is a sign of impending calamity, and one should be cautious, holding a banquet in the army and rewarding generously to calm the hearts of the people; if one insists on acting stubbornly, one will meet with disaster. When the moon produces a halo, with uniform thickness on all sides, this indicates that the forces of both armies are evenly matched. If only one side has a surrounding aura, that side will win; if the surrounding aura supports us, our army will be as if aided by divine soldiers. When the moon produces a halo, and the halo is accompanied by 'er' vapors, this indicates that the general will suffer a fire disaster that cannot be avoided; if it rains within three days, peace will be restored; if there is no rain at all, the disaster will eventually come to pass.

月生暈，暈內有流星。當有貴人奔出走，客星入側將當驚，國亦不安寧。 月如赭，莫戰最為良。若或不依京本作「不依言」須見敗，客軍得勝主軍傷，宜且守封疆。京本注：「先出客，後出主。」 相敵，月滿色無光。客勝主衰京本作「虧」須謹慎，忽然交戰主難當，城內欲投降。

When a moon halo appears and there are shooting stars passing through it, this indicates that a nobleman will flee and escape. If an invading star enters one side of the halo, the general will be disturbed, and the country will not be at peace. If the moon appears reddish-brown like loam, it is best not to engage in battle. If one ignores this warning, defeat is certain: the guest army will win, and the main army will suffer injuries. It is advisable to temporarily hold the borders. Jing Ben notes that the one appearing first belongs to the guest side, and the one appearing later belongs to the main side. When two armies are facing each other, even though the moon is full, if it is dark and lacks brightness, this indicates that the guest army will prevail while the main army will decline. One must be cautious. If a sudden battle occurs, the main army will be unable to resist, and the city will eventually surrender.

雙月現，現則有兵荒。兩兩三三俱荒亂辛本、川本、京本作「亂出」，當其現處有辛本、川本、京本作「競」猖狂，人馬兩京本作「死及」逃亡。 兩月，侯景犯梁朝。倘或遭逢如此兆，外藩京本作「番」雄略京本作「客」有謀韜，俱廢若京本作「永」冰消。 兵在外，月色辛本、川本作「蝕」、京本作「食」八分強。軍欲還鄉須京本作「休」罷戰，忽然蝕盡倒城亡，將死向郊京本作「飢」荒。

If they appear in groups of two or three, disorder will spread throughout the land; the region where they appear will see rampant rebellion, with people dying, horses perishing, and people fleeing. When two moons appeared in the sky, there was such an omen during the time when Hou Jing invaded the Liang dynasty. If such a sign occurs, it indicates that among the outer vassals there will be a man of great talent and hidden strategies who will rebel, causing the old order to melt away like ice. If the army is stationed outside and the moon is eclipsed by more than eight parts, it signifies that the soldiers' hearts will turn towards returning home, and the war should be called off. If the moon is completely eclipsed, it foretells the fall of cities, the defeat of the army, and the death of generals in the fields.

太平夕京本作「久」，月破作三分。四海荒荒興逆叛，都緣人主寵奢昏京本作「民」，草寇輒稱尊。 月黃色，分野現明光。此是將軍遷京本作「還」職象，彼師我眾兩無傷。各自守封疆。 月邊氣，其象若群豬。羽姓將軍兵大吉，宮商角徵不占拘京本作「推」，把捉顧方隅。

On a peaceful night, the moon suddenly split into three pieces. This indicates chaos and rebellion across the four seas, with the root cause lying in the monarch's indulgence in luxury and his ignorance and failure to follow the right path, leading to bandits and rebels readily declaring themselves emperors and sovereigns. The moon appears yellow, shining brightly in the area it governs. This is a sign of a general being promoted in rank, with neither side suffering losses, and both armies merely holding their own territories. The vapor around the moon takes the shape of a group of pigs. Since pigs belong to the Water element among the Five Phases, generals with surnames belonging to the 'Feather' sound will be greatly auspicious in leading troops; however, the tones Gong, Shang, Jue, and Zhi need not be strictly bound by this image, but should instead focus on the direction where it appears to make deductions.

十五夜，月缺不團圓。一面凸凹三兩處，近臣怪辛本、川本作「懷」怨京本作「懷恨」奪君權，急究反情原。 金入月，星朗月無光。星蝕太陰臣造逆，月明星暗將身辛本、川本作「星」亡。星沒客軍傷。 金與月，俱出在西方。星北北方軍必勝，星南南面將身辛本、川本作「星」強，月白辛本、川本作「向」將兵亡。

On the fifteenth night, the moon should be full, but it is instead crescent and uneven, with two or three irregularities. This indicates that the king's close ministers harbor resentment and intend to seize the throne; one should quickly investigate the cause of their rebellion. The planet Venus enters the moon, its light bright while the moon's light is dim. When the star covers the moon, it signifies rebellion by the ministers; if the moon is bright and the star is dim, it indicates the death of the general; if the star disappears, it means the enemy army suffers loss. When Venus and the moon rise from the west, if the star is north of the moon, the northern army will win; if the star is south of the moon, the general of the southern army is strong; if the moon appears pale, it indicates the defeat of the soldiers.

金月暈，星暗月昏昏。客必敗亡須好認，木星三暈將辛本、川本、京本作「宰」臣奔。天象顯然分。 月有暈，白虹向中穿。天下大兵看即起，更兼壯士執仇冤，大辛本、川本作「日」怒氣衝天。

Venus and the moon appear together with a halo, but the star is dim and the moon is cloudy, indicating that the enemy army will certainly suffer defeat. One must recognize this point; if Jupiter forms three successive halos, it signifies that the chief ministers will flee. The heavenly omens are clearly evident. The moon produces a halo, and a white rainbow passes through it. This indicates that the whole country is about to launch a large-scale military campaign, accompanied by brave warriors avenging their grievances, their anger rising straight to the heavens.

兵要法京本作「訣」，為主認星辰。伏逆遲留京本作「留時」須固守，更看金京本作「堪全」現便京本作「使」宜行，俱伏兩均平。 兵要訣，為主京本作「客」認金星。若也伏藏休動作，逆行逆戰亦均平，順則最宜行。星退宜退，星進宜進。 金與火，統帥識星無。須算辛本、川本作「等」行藏知決勝，何須堅執講星孤，諸事細參圖。

The key to military strategy lies in recognizing the stars. If the stars are hidden, moving backward, or stagnant, one should remain still; only when the bright white star appears is it appropriate to take action. If both sides' guiding stars are hidden, then the forces are evenly matched. The essential principle of warfare is to focus on the bright white star. If the bright white star is hidden, there should be no movement; if it moves backward, fighting against the direction is only a draw; if it moves forward, then it is most favorable for advancing. In summary, when the star retreats, I retreat; when the star advances, I advance. Do the generals recognize the bright white star and the malefic of violence? It is essential to calculate their appearances and movements to determine victory, rather than clinging to a single isolated star. All matters must be carefully considered and planned.

土星合，相犯必為災。分野居京本作「老」、辛本作「若」當須有事，本藩太守禍之胎，修德免災京本作「殃」來。 三星聚，晉宋為居辛本、川本作「兼」、京本作「衛兼」唐。此地將軍須就獄，總兵主帥作猖狂，斬首獻明京本作「君」王。 四星聚，平地辛本、川本、京本作「帝」會張星。王莽赤眉兵造起，後來光武掃餘京本作「除」兵，晉魏也曾更京本作「經」。

Saturn combining with or conflicting with other stars inevitably brings disaster. The area under its influence will suffer misfortune, and the governor of that region is the source of the calamity; only by cultivating virtue can the disaster be averted. When the three stars converge, their influence covers the regions of Jin, Song, and Tang. The generals of these areas will be imprisoned, and the commanders of the armies will be arrogant and rebellious, eventually being beheaded and presented to the king. When four stars gather in Zhang Xu, there was such an omen during Wang Mang's usurpation and the uprising of the Red Eyebrows, later being overcome by Emperor Guangwu. Similarly, during the transition from the Jin to the Wei dynasty, such an occurrence was also experienced.

五星聚，漢祖得其時。秦滅漢兵東井會，君王起事合天機，星會尾如京本作「聚尾和」箕。 星落寨，為將恐遭殃。宜速移營方見吉，堅強舊所必凶傷，天降禍相辛本、川本、京本作「難」當。 星相打，攻守兩茫茫京本作「忙忙」。遇戰血流交滿野京本作「遇賊血流郊野滿」，攻城不下好堤防，宴犒賞兒郎。

Five stars gathered together, and Han Gaozu happened to be in that period. When the Qin dynasty collapsed, the Han army rose, and the five stars gathered in the Well mansion, indicating a favorable omen for the rise of a king. There were also instances of the five stars gathering in the Tail mansion and the Winnowing Basket mansion, all signs of great changes in the dynasty. If stars fall into the camp, the falling of stars is a sign of impending disaster. Commanders should fear for their safety. They should quickly move their camps to see good fortune; if they insist on staying in their old positions, they will certainly suffer misfortune. The calamity sent by heaven is not something human power can resist. When the stars collide with each other, both the attacking and defending sides will be in confusion and disorder. As soon as battle begins, blood will flow across the fields, but the attacking side will be unable to capture the city. They can only strengthen their defenses and hold feasts to reward the soldiers in order to stabilize the army's morale.

金星畔，邊有小星侵。相去不過咫尺遠，客軍當敗將消沉，兵罷只如今。凡金星為將星，專主兵權兆。京本注：「金星專主兵權之事。」 金星京本作「行」疾，急戰定應京本作「須」贏。行若緩時須固守，星高攻京本作「遠」戰有功名，低害京本作「則」莫深徵。 金芒角京本作「金星落」，隨角出軍徵。若有焰光如掃帚，亦名天狗食妖兵，其下血成坑。如螻赴水，其下必敗。

When a small star approaches the planet Tai Bai (Venus), close within a few feet, this indicates that the enemy army will be defeated, the general's strength will be diminished, and the battle will come to an end. All stars associated with gold are considered the General Star, indicating omens related to military power. The commentary from the capital notes that the planet Venus specifically governs matters of military authority. When the planet Venus moves quickly, it indicates a swift battle and certain victory; when it moves slowly, it suggests holding position and waiting for the right moment. If the planet Venus is high in position, it is favorable for launching an attack and achieving success; if it is low, it is not advisable to engage in distant campaigns. If the planet Venus develops apointed rays (a芒角 is a bright spike or ray), then the army should move in the direction of thepointed rays. If the light resembles a broom, this is called the Heavenly Dog, indicating the consumption of evil troops and bloodshed in the area. Old commentaries say that if the star appears like a cricket splashing in water, the side that sees this will surely be defeated.

占星宿，伏現在西東。星若近南南必勝，忽然近北北宜攻，專祖此為宗辛本、川本作「蹤」。 金星出，出在卯中央。東面兵強莫京本作「休」與戰，西出西方不可當京本作「出西面酉酉難當」，勿與動鋒槍辛本、川本作「刀槍」，京本作「勿與鋒芒」。 金西伏，木京本作「未」出現東方。軍在西南休進戰，二星同出現東方，西若戰須亡。或水或木星。

Divination by observing the stars involves noting whether they are hidden or visible, and whether they appear in the east or west. If a star is close to the south, the south will prevail; if it suddenly approaches the north, the north is favorable for attack. Divination by stars is based solely on this principle. If Venus appears exactly at the卯 position, the eastern forces are strong, and one should not fight against the east; if Venus appears in the west, the west is formidable, and one should not engage in battle. If Venus is hidden in the west and Jupiter appears in the east, the army in the southwest should not advance; if both stars appear in the east, a battle in the west will surely result in defeat. (The star opposite to Venus here is either Mercury or Jupiter.)

金東伏，木京本作「未」出現西方。東北二方須敗走，忽然同出在西方京本作「現在旁」，東面不能當。 同伏現，相去尺餘間。交戰將兵須有應，水居月上戰應先京本作「關」，月內必師還。水在月上也。 欃星現，分野在京本作「出」何方。若是正臨災在即，忽然頭尾也遭殃，仁德可修禳。

The planet Venus is hidden in the east, and Jupiter appears in the west, then the east and north directions will suffer defeat; if both stars suddenly emerge in the west, the east side will be unable to resist. When both stars are either hidden or appear at the same time, they are about one foot apart. During battle, soldiers will surely have corresponding omens; if the planet Mercury is positioned above the moon, it is advisable to attack first, and the army will certainly return within a month. The phrase 'water resides above the moon' refers to Mercury being above the moon. If a comet appears, one should look at the region it corresponds to. If it directly points to a certain area, disaster will arrive immediately; even if only the head or tail of the comet sweeps over, that region will suffer. The way to remedy this is by cultivating benevolence and virtue to appease the calamity.

星一個，無尾赤京本作「亦」兼青。直下落來營寨上，急須遷去別為營，此地定無成。 金晝現，名號是經天。其分用兵兵必罷，未曾動處卻兵連，人馬滿郊田。已動敗，未動易政。 星晝隕，聲震響如雷。赤白或長三五丈，忽然更有小星陪，軍勢若寒灰。

There is a star without a tail, red in color with a blue tinge, falling straight down above the camp. One should quickly move and establish a new camp, for staying here will certainly lead to failure. When the planet Tai Bai (Venus) is visible during the day, this is called "Tai Bai passing through the sky." If the area under its influence is currently engaged in warfare, the military affairs will surely cease; whereas places that have not yet begun warfare will instead face continuous conflict, with troops filling the fields and outskirts. Old annotations say: those already in battle will suffer defeat, and those not yet in battle will experience a change of government. When a star falls during the day, making a thunderous sound, with a red and white tail of three or five zhang in length, and suddenly accompanied by smaller stars, this indicates a decline in military strength, like cold ashes that can no longer be revived.

星晝隕，其地定為災京本作「其下地殃危」。必有火焚軍寨柵，兼防將士涉沙泥京本作「垝」，移寨京本作「去」莫徘徊。 軍營內，斗大墜星來。或是作聲長數丈，其間大戰將星移京本作「身摧」，急去免災危。京本注：「孔明、祖逖，皆有此兆。」 軍營內，星隕落其間。拽尾或長三五尺辛本、川本、京本作「丈」，皆為敗陣辛本、川本、京本作「証」莫京本作「欲」相殘，急去免災京本作「凶」奸。孔明、祖逖皆有此兆。

During the day, if a star falls, the area where it lands will surely suffer disaster: there will definitely be a fire that destroys the military camps and fences, and also be cautious of soldiers getting stuck in muddy ground. They should quickly move the camp, and not hesitate or linger. A large star falling within the military camp, either with sound or trailing a light tail several zhang long, indicates that there will certainly be a major battle, and the general's star will shift, meaning the general is doomed to die. They should hurry to leave the area to avoid disaster. The commentary in the original text says: Zhuge Liang and Zu Tdi both had such omens before their deaths. If a star falls within the military camp with a tail light of three or five zhang long, this is a clear sign of defeat. Do not continue fighting, but quickly retreat to avoid danger. The old commentary says: Zhuge Liang and Zu Tdi both had such omens.

軍營內，星隕作驢鳴京本作「形」。兆是京本作「此兆」敗軍並殺將，便須移寨不須京本作「當返不當」停，天意甚分明。 營寨內，星火殞其中。芒角光明兼京本作「並」曳尾，急須移寨避災凶，不去禍重重。 出軍法，夜與日相殊。彼上有光京本作「星」兼月朗，我軍上面暗稀疏，進戰決成輸。

Within the military camp, a star fell, emitting a sound like that of a donkey. This omen indicates the army will suffer defeat and lose its generals. The camp should be moved immediately, and no stay should be made, for the heavenly will has clearly shown. Within the camp, a star with a bright tip and a long tail fell. One should quickly move the camp to avoid calamity, for staying will bring great misfortune. The principles of military departure differ between night and day. If the enemy's side has bright stars and clear moonlight, while our side is dark and sparse in stars, then engaging in battle will certainly result in defeat.

星晝隕，分作二三星。此是兵戈將欲動，須防敵國別來侵京本作「必來爭」，陰賊逆謀生。 吾守壁，月內一星明。必是外奸來入壘，期於半夜害吾城，搜京本作「招」捉審姦情。 提大眾，欲打破城牆。月左京本作「上」有星占上角，城中賢將有謀方，速退莫施張。

During the day, if a star falls from the sky and splits into two or three stars, this is an omen that military action is about to be launched. One should be on guard against enemy attacks from another direction and also beware of treacherous individuals within who may conspire against the state. Our forces are stationed in the camp, and within the moon's light there is a particularly bright star. The moon represents night, and the star is a guest. When a guest star enters the moon, it indicates that an enemy spy has already infiltrated our camp and plans to cause harm during the night. We should conduct a night search and interrogation to uncover the spy's plot, and increase patrols to prevent any internal accomplices from lighting fires. When commanding a large army to attack a city, if a star is positioned in the upper left of the moon, it signifies that there is a capable general within the city who has a strategic plan. We should quickly retreat and not make a show of our military action.

敵守壘，我力有餘攻。月下有星相近駐，彼城奸欲亂吾中，門戶審其蹤。 圍彼久，月背一星隨。壁京本作「城」內敵人謀走北，其城沉潰不須摧，捷報凱歌回。 觀敵壘，月背有辛本、川本、京本作「見」三星。狀若連珠敵便遁，不須攻打自安平，撫眾勿殘生。

The enemy is holding their fort and our forces are sufficient to launch an attack. If a star is near and stays close to the moon, it indicates that the enemy has sent spies to disrupt our camp, so we must carefully check the movements of those entering and leaving the camp gates. After a long siege, if there is a star following behind the moon, it suggests that the enemy within the city is planning to flee northward. The city will eventually collapse on its own, so there is no need for a strong attack; victory will come naturally. Observing the enemy's fort, if three stars are seen behind the moon in a line, it means the enemy is about to flee. There is no need to attack; the situation will stabilize on its own. At this time, we should comfort those who surrender and avoid unnecessary killing of innocent people.

軍馬進，月畔見三星。形似三星將月捧，攻城京本作「圍」不下戰無成，擇地設營停京本作「再安營」。候過旬日，別看氣候。 攻彼京本作「破」壘，月下見京本作「列」三星。城內詐降設京本作「施」巧計，急當準京本作「整」備出京本作「突」師徵，莫信詐為誠。 圍彼壘，月角露三星。亦京本作「形」類三臺侵抱月，其城難取枉亡京本作「勞」兵，別處設謀贏。

The army is about to advance, and if three stars are seen beside the moon, forming the shape of three stars holding up the moon, this indicates that attacking a city will not succeed and battles will not be successful. One should choose another place to set up camp and wait ten days before consulting again about the weather. When attacking an enemy stronghold and seeing three stars arranged beneath the moon, this indicates that the city's inhabitants are pretending to surrender but have secretly set up cunning strategies. One should quickly prepare troops for a sudden attack and not treat the pretended surrender as genuine. When besieging an enemy stronghold and the moon's horn reveals three stars, resembling the Three Stars approaching and embracing the moon, this indicates that the city is difficult to capture. A direct attack will only result in unnecessary loss of troops. One should instead devise another strategy to achieve victory.

彗星見，出在京本作「自」月旁邊。必有弒君並殺父，國中紛擾禍相連，更主易桑田。 金臨水辛本、川本作「木」，三五寸金分。少婦合憂生哭泣，又見將見災凶，偏將喪郊中。 星墜地，鳴下似雷聲。著把辛本、川本作「地」更辛本、川本作「便」如焚薪狀，此為天狗食人民。百日見災生。

A comet appearing near the moon indicates certain calamities involving the killing of the sovereign and father, leading to chaos and continuous misfortunes within the country, along with changes in land and alterations in mountains and rivers. When the planet Venus is close to the planet Mercury, with a distance of three or five inches in terms of celestial measurement, it signifies that a young wife will experience sorrow and weeping, and also that generals will face disasters and misfortunes, with the commander possibly dying in the outskirts. When a star falls to the ground, making a thunderous sound upon impact and then burning like burning firewood after landing, this is called the Heavenly Dog, which indicates the devouring of the people, and disaster will occur within a hundred days.

慧星現，但看出何方。定主國君喪性命，不過百日見驚亡，減辛本、川本作「咸」滅在君王。 太白犯，昴畢二星纏。定主逆臣謀國主，馬奔人走喪中原，入昴赦人原。 金與水，二曜若侵凌。定主破軍並殺將，水居首本作「君」，茲從辛本、川本金上客軍贏，在下主和平。 慧星現，從斗向南行。經過垣牆天市界，外邊兵寇界相臨，損將血成坑。

A comet appears, and one must observe from which direction it comes. It certainly indicates the death of the sovereign, and within a hundred days, there will be a sudden calamity leading to his demise, with the disaster falling entirely upon the king. If the bright white star (too bright to be a star) invades the mansion of Hairy Head and Net and lingers there, it certainly indicates a rebellious minister plotting against the sovereign, with horses and soldiers fleeing and the central region falling into chaos; if the bright white star enters the mansion of Hairy Head, it indicates the pardon of criminals. When the bright white star and the water star mutually attack each other, it certainly indicates the defeat of the army and the death of the generals. If the water star is above the bright white star, the guest army will win; if the water star is below the bright white star, both sides will make peace and remain tranquil. If a comet appears, coming from the mansion of Dipper and moving southward, passing through the boundary of the Heavenly Market Enclosure, it indicates that foreign troops will approach the border, causing the loss of generals and bloodshed in pits.

凡北斗，斗乃眾星魁。天上眾星難相犯，若來相犯有災危，占候者須知。 鬥口內，慧現出光芒。海內兵戈俱大起，江河流絕業成京本作「田」荒，民作甲兵糧。 北斗內，穿出慧星輝。國內主君邊寨京本作「塞」將，陰謀惡黨起旌麾京本作「強圍」，著意謹防危。

When discussing the Big Dipper, it is the leader among all the stars. Other stars in the sky are generally unable to challenge it. If any star appears to interfere with it, there will surely be calamity and danger. Those who interpret omens must understand this. If a comet appears within the Big Dipper's bowl and emits light, this indicates that there will be widespread warfare within the country, rivers will dry up, farmland will be abandoned, and people's grain will be seized for military use. If the light of a comet shines out from within the Big Dipper, this signifies that there will be conspiracies and rebellious groups among the king and the border commanders, plotting rebellion. Extra caution should be taken to prevent danger.

北斗下，氣若破車輪。白色漸生侵口內，飢荒不稔寇成群，餘荒不堪論。 黑色氣，守定鬥口邊。父子相吞天下歉，水渰城郭少乾田，災害四方傳。 占北斗，第一是妖星。卻京本作「都」要分明軍辛本、川本、京本作「君」始吉，忽然不現眾星明。主將落姦情。妖星乃貪狼星也。

If this star appears clearly, it is auspicious for the sovereign; but if it suddenly disappears while the other stars are bright, it indicates that the general will fall into a trap set by villains. Old annotations say that the demon star is the Star of Romance and Desire.

占北斗，夜夜白霞遮。不過七旬兵大起，橫尸千里臥如麻，忌戰日西斜。斗為主，霞為客，有索戰，不可出。京本「有索戰」作「酉未來索戰」。 占北斗，黃辛本、川本、京本作「紫」氣在其中。吉京本作「喜」、辛本、川本作「有」事欲來君且記，不過旬日京本作「逾三月」喜重重，萬姓賀堯風。 占北斗，赤氣在其中。萬萬雄風辛本作「師」、川本作「帥」、京本作「兵」徒京本作「多」費力，攻城盡死不成功，枉把庫(廠敖)空。

The king should remember: within ten days, there will be many joyful events, with the people rejoicing together, as if the simple and virtuous customs of the time of Yao have returned. 地之道，與月一般稱。為母為臣生萬物，發生含育盡乾坤，明辨豈無靈？ 統軍帥，下寨要安營。先是須知吉凶地，莫令誤地損兵軍，此理要精明。 地名好，川破不堪安。大路叉中休下寨，伏尸古墓見多般，將帥要知言。主虛驚，賊來破寨。

The principles of the earth correspond with the moon, being in parallel relationship. The earth is the mother and the minister, nurturing all things. Its function of generating and nurturing extends throughout heaven and earth. As long as one can clearly discern the signs of the earth, how could there be no effectiveness? Before setting up camp, the general in command must first determine where the auspicious land is and where the inauspicious land is. One should not choose the wrong place, leading to the unnecessary loss of troops. The advantage of terrain relates to the survival or destruction of the entire army. This principle must be thoroughly understood and mastered, and not hastily chosen at the last moment. Although a place may have a good name, if the mountains and rivers are broken or ruined, it is not suitable for setting up camp. One should not set up camp where roads cross, as such places often conceal hidden graves and ancient tombs of various kinds. The general must understand this warning. Old annotations say: setting up camp here will lead to unexpected disturbances and may also invite enemy forces to attack and destroy the camp.

山窄地，泣滴莫安營。兩路中間休立寨，龍頭辛本、川本作「勿投」天灶怎持兵，仔細與軍辛本、川本作「君」尋。天灶者，大谷之口；龍頭者，大山之端。 戰場地，古廟與靈壇首本作「臺」，茲從辛本、川本。攻破城營移辛本、川本作「遺」故地，盡言凶敗與傷殘，細說與軍辛本、川本作「兵」官。 山谷中，下寨忌逢之。前高後下居之險，地無草木主憂疑，明將總須知。

Mountains that are narrow and ground that leaks water should not be used for setting up camp; also, the area between two roads should not be chosen for establishing a camp. Places like 「dragon head」 and 「heavenly stove」 are unsuitable for military encampment. One must carefully select another campsite for the entire army. Old annotations say: 「heavenly stove」 refers to the entrance of a large valley, and 「dragon head」 refers to the top of a large mountain. Old battlefields, ancient temples, shrines, and the ruins of broken cities and camps are all ominous and lead to defeat, injuries, and losses. These should be thoroughly explained to the officers and soldiers, and these places must not be used for encampment. It is most dangerous to set up a camp in valleys; a terrain that is high in front and low in the back is dangerous. Areas where there is no vegetation grow cause worry and uncertainty. Wise generals must be aware of these.

大驛路，前後總須疑。或在高崗或在辛本、川本作「近」水，長深溪澗最無疑，下寨得便宜。 營已下，須識有災非。地上忽生諸怪類，往來天象看來情，主將要知因。 占其地，毛羽忽然生。必主人君遭厄難，大兵侵國亂朝廷，百事應憂驚。

The front and rear of the great road are both questionable and not suitable for long stay. The camp should be chosen on a high hill or near a water source; the most secure location is beside a narrow and deep stream. Setting up camp there will secure the advantage of terrain. Once the camp is established, it is also necessary to discern whether there are signs of calamity. If strange things suddenly appear on the ground, one must combine them with the changes in celestial phenomena to understand their implications. The commander must clearly understand the reasons behind them. When divining the campsite, if feathers or similar strange things suddenly appear on the ground, it indicates that the sovereign will face misfortune, the army will invade the country, and the court will experience turmoil. All these events will be omens of worry and alarm.

田地上，忽然便生毛。處處盡生人總見，此為謀逆血流郊，百日主凶妖。 城營內，火焰忽然京本作「生」光。將士敗亡看在速，急須移寨京本作「轉」免災殃，不去禍難當。 城忽裂，必主起干戈。山中地或如雷吼，敵軍來時看辛本、川本作「速探」如何，急避莫蹉跎。

A strange hairy growth suddenly appears on the fields, growing everywhere and visible to everyone. This indicates a plot of rebellion and bloodshed in the open fields, with the ominous event occurring within a hundred days. A sudden flame appears within the city walls and military camps. This indicates that the soldiers will soon suffer defeat; one should urgently relocate the camp to avoid disaster. If they do not leave, the calamity will be unbearable. If the city walls suddenly crack, it definitely foretells the outbreak of war. If the ground in the mountains emits a thunder-like roar, one should quickly investigate the situation of the enemy's approach and swiftly avoid it, without delay.

營寨京本作「砦」地，泉水及生塵。有戰不離於月內，早排兵甲敵邊鄰，移寨避災迍。先移後戰。 城營京本作「營內」地，無故動還搖。大戰必應於歲月京本作「內」，並注：「城年營月也。」直須移京本作「離」寨禍應消，不去京本作「出」將身招。 城營內，地動起兵戈。且早移營於吉地辛本、川本作「福上」，不然刑禍將身多，陣敗辛本、川本、京本作「破」自消磨。

The location of a camp suddenly springs forth spring water or raises dust without cause. This indicates there will certainly be warfare within a month. One should prepare weapons in advance to deal with nearby enemies and move the camp to avoid calamity. The old commentary says: first move the camp, then engage in battle. If the ground beneath a city or camp shakes without cause, there will certainly be a great battle. The original commentary says: if it occurs within a city, the effect will be within a year; if it occurs within a camp, the effect will be within a month. One must move the camp, only then will the disaster be resolved; if not, the commander will suffer great misfortune, the army will be defeated, and the forces will be gradually depleted. Shaking of the ground within a city or camp indicates the outbreak of warfare. One should move the camp to a favorable location as soon as possible; otherwise, the commander will face repeated calamities, the formation will be broken, and the troops will be gradually worn down.

城營內，忽見地生毛。所統精兵當便起，須臾不去禍應遭，禳醮保功勞。 城營內，地上起錢京本作「殘」花。有似馬蹄同此兆，移營擁京本作「各營勇」士定歸家，應驗決無差。 城營內，地忽現辛本、川本、京本作「陷」崩摧。禍結兵連緣此兆，移營修義滅京本作「速修仁義免」凶災，不信將身推京本作「危」。

Within the city and camp, if suddenly hair-like growth appears on the ground, the commander should immediately move the camp. If they delay even for a moment, disaster will follow. At the same time, they should perform a ritual to appease the spirits, in order to preserve their existing achievements. Within the city and camp, if the ground suddenly shows imprints resembling copper coins or horse hoofprints, these are all the same omen. At this time, the camp should be moved, and the soldiers should return home. This is the correct course of action, and it will certainly come true. Within the city and camp, if the ground suddenly collapses and crumbles, this omen will lead to disaster and conflict. The camp should be moved, and the commander should practice benevolence and righteousness to eliminate the calamity. If one does not believe this, the commander himself will fall into danger.

城營內，忽見地生丹京本作「忽有土崩塌」。敵騎欲來沖突我，差人截路莫輕閒京本作「待莫輕看」，移寨庶幾安辛本、川本作「倚亭關」。 城營內，花草忽然生。急出莫令軍疾病，經旬不動將身傾，智士京本作「勇」切須明。 城營內，地上忽然京本作「生」黃。五穀或生並地長京本作「忽然生遍地」，將軍祿位福無疆，士馬樂京本作「亦」安康。

Within the camp, if suddenly a red and fiery color appears on the ground, it is said that there may be a collapse of earth. Red and fiery belong to fire, and also the color of blood, indicating that enemy cavalry will soon attack our forces. One should send people to block the roads and not take it lightly; the camp should be moved to ensure safety. Within the camp, if suddenly flowers and grass grow, one must hurry to withdraw, to avoid disease in the army; if after ten days the camp has not been moved, the general himself will be overthrown. Wise people must understand this. Within the camp, if the ground suddenly shows a yellow color, or if grains naturally grow and spread everywhere, this is a good omen, indicating that the general will have great honor and prosperity, and soldiers and horses will be healthy and happy.

城京本作「營」中樹，忽然總萎黃。威氣京本作「風」助吾軍必勝，陰神佑我必成強，主將喜非常。 營側畔，樹木自崩摧。若近軍前師敗辱，不然近彼賊京本作「彼戰必」衝來，移去免凶災。 諸樹木，花發不當時。營內見之須速備京本作「避」，定知賊眾欲來圍，移寨免災危。

The trees within the city suddenly all withered and turned yellow. Grass and trees are affected by the cutting and killing energy, which is the sign of military power being applied: this is a sign that the power of authority supports us and that the spirits of the underworld protect our side; our army will surely win and become strong, and the commander should be especially joyful. The trees by the campsite suddenly broke and fell down. If the side where the trees fell is close to our army's front, it indicates our army will suffer defeat and disgrace; if it is close to the enemy's side, it indicates the enemy will come to attack. Moving the campsite can avoid the calamity. Various trees bloom out of season. Flowers blooming at the wrong time indicate "energy not in the right position." If this abnormal phenomenon is seen within the camp, one must quickly be on guard, as it can be determined that the enemy will soon surround us; moving the campsite to another place can eliminate the danger.

營寨內，樹木被雷驚。或是震傷人與物，此為傷敗被天嗔，移寨免憂心。 諸樹木，忽地出奇枝。異花奇葉人罕見，必生異事報軍辛本、川本作「君」知，將帥看修為。

Within the camp, trees are struck by lightning, causing shock and trembling, or the lightning injures people and objects. This is a sign of impending injury and defeat, a warning from heaven. Moving the camp is necessary to avoid worries. Suddenly, various trees sprout strange branches and bear rare flowers and unusual leaves. This certainly indicates an unusual event that needs to be reported to the military. The general should examine his own actions and cultivate virtue in response.

軍營內，蜂眾泊於營。兵京本作「軍」欲動移應不久，修磨器甲莫教停，總令便須行。 軍行次，蜂蝶接連來。定有伏兵居草莽辛本、川本、京本作「澤」，好防林木與山崖，先探保無災。 軍下寨，蜂蝶遍天飛。防有賊來攻我寨，急首本作「忽」，茲從辛本、川本須固守莫遲回，主將要先知。

Within the military camp, a swarm of bees is resting inside the camp. This indicates that the army will soon have to move, so they should constantly maintain and sharpen their weapons and armor, and be ready to depart immediately upon receiving orders. While marching, bees and butterflies keep flying in succession. Bees and butterflies rest in the marshes and are startled by the horses and soldiers, hence they keep flying in succession. This certainly means there are hidden troops concealed in the marshes. One must be well prepared for ambushes in the woods and cliffs. Send people to scout thoroughly before taking any action, to ensure no disaster occurs. When the army sets up camp, bees and butterflies fly all over the sky. One must be on guard against enemy attacks on the camp. Quickly strengthen the defenses and do not hesitate or retreat. The general must be fully aware of this situation in advance.

軍營內，蜂惡亂叮辛本、川本作「呵」人。或是反軍與謀將，必然軍將有災危，謹守賊欺追辛本、川本作「追欺」。 軍營內，蜂子遍飛遊。必主將軍多口舌，若還移寨沒災危，記此在心機。

Within the military camp, evil bees are buzzing around and stinging people. Bees have venom and turn on their master, which symbolizes internal disorder: this may indicate that there is a traitor within the army or that the general has other intentions, and the military commanders will surely face calamity. One should be cautious in defending the camp and also beware of enemies taking advantage to attack and harass. Within the military camp, the bees fly around but do not sting people. This certainly indicates that the general is involved in much verbal conflict and slander is spreading. If the camp is moved, there will be no disaster. Remember this point well.

占見鼠，其物夙名虛。主盜主奸皆主賊，若來為怪將兵虞，不信禍難除。 逢見鼠，白色是金精。若順軍行軍大勝，逆軍來者禍相京本作「災」生，凶吉甚分明。 逢赤鼠，來往在軍前。此是伏軍京本作「兵」藏詭計，搜尋斜谷道旁邊，急備莫遲延。

When divination encounters a mouse, this animal has always had a bad reputation. It signifies theft and treachery, ultimately relating to the concept of "thief"; if it exhibits abnormal and strange behavior, commanders should be concerned and on guard, investigating the camp for any internal spies or traitors. If one does not believe this, calamities will be difficult to eliminate. Encountering a white mouse signifies the essence of the metal element. If it moves in the direction of our army's advance, our forces will achieve a great victory; if it moves against our army, misfortune will arise. The distinction between good and bad fortune is clear. Encountering a red mouse moving back and forth within our army's path indicates that the enemy has hidden troops and devised treacherous plans. One should search the slopes and the sides of the roads, and be vigilant immediately, without delay.

軍營內，鼠咬屋椽楹。或見辛本、京本作「向」壁間搬出土，移營在近改遷寧，排備向前程。 軍營內，行鼠尾舒前。將京本作「軍」主有災須醮謝，夜深谷口京本作「各各」、辛本、川本作「穀穀」罷戈京本作「兵」鋋，太白京本作「天似」報人言。 營寨京本作「軍營」內，驀地鼠成行。欲似吊人聲不罷京本作「出」，此須為禍將身當，禳謝得平京本作「保安」康。

營寨內，白日鼠搬兒。不是火災應大水，三日辛本、川本、京本作「朝」五京本作「兩」日速遷移，不出禍相隨。 寨中鼠，能舞向人前。必有內姦通外敵，且須搜捉莫遷延，速備實為先。

軍營鼠，血染將衣冠。或咬鼓旗皆不利，信須修謝拜星官，移寨且求安。 將軍臥，眼上被鼠傷京本作「將軍服，上衽鼠來傷」。必有奸賊京本作「喜神」來辛本、川本、京本作「看」在即，或傷腰下不相當，財散京本作「破」客軍強。經曰：「鼠者，賊也。如有變易，必主奸寇入也。」
