Chapter 45: Creating Palaces and Buildings

（以子孫為主，身世為憑。）興工最怕鬼重交，更忌官來克世爻，助鬼傷身災定染，隨官入墓禍能招。起造興工，大忌鬼爻發動，縱然不動官來克世，尤凶。如逢助鬼傷身，有妨家主。隨官入墓，造後豈得興家？內興外旺年年發，父盛財安歲歲高，子動鬼衰身世旺並，無神煞作精妖。內卦為宅，外卦為人，二者皆臨旺相，自然人宅興隆。內外若值休囚，豈能發達？卦若空亡，便為凶斷。父母為屋宇，如逢旺相，又無財動來傷，房屋定然綿遠，後主榮華。卦得子孫發動、官鬼休囚、世爻不受沖剋，動作之時永無妨礙。

The song says: when starting a construction project, it is most feared if the official ghost line is activated and repeated, and even more so if the official ghost line controls the world line. If the hostile god supports the official ghost and harms the world line, disaster is certain. If one commits "following the official into the tomb," misfortune will be brought. In general, starting a construction project is greatly feared if the official ghost line is activated. Even if the official ghost line is not activated, as long as the official ghost line controls the world line, it will be particularly dangerous. If the hostile god supports the official ghost and in turn harms the world line, it will harm the family head. If one commits "following the official into the tomb," after the house is built, how can the family prosper? The song says: if the inner trigram is strong and the outer trigram is prosperous, success will come every year; if the parents line is strong and the wealth line is quiet, the family will grow richer each year; if the children line is activated, the official ghost line is weak, and the hexagram body and world line are strong, there will be no supernatural interference. The inner trigram represents the house, and the outer trigram represents people. If both are strong and prosperous, people and the house will naturally flourish. If both are weak and confined, success is impossible; if the hexagram falls into emptiness, it is a凶 (dangerous) judgment. The parents line represents the house. If it is strong and not controlled by the wealth line, the house will be solid and long-lasting, and the family will prosper in the future. If the children line is activated, the official ghost line is weak, and the world line is not controlled or clashed with, then during the construction, there will be no obstacles.

（以子孫為主，身世為憑。）開業興修兼所伐，身臨福德卻為奇，子孫旺相千祥至，官鬼交重萬禍欺，世旺逢生無禁忌，身衰受克有方隅，並占方向凶和吉，如此推之不改移。凡動土、興工、創作、修砌、拆卸、墾掘、斫伐、更方、改向之類，皆以子孫持世，或旺相、或發動便無妨礙。子若休囚又不臨世，卦中鬼爻又動，必有神煞為殃，切莫動作。又看世爻喜臨旺相則吉，縱逢衰地亦得生扶，並無禁忌。世若休囚，卻被鬼爻或日辰克沖，決有方隅。世落空亡，必多愆咎。鬼如落陷，殃禍無干，凡遇助鬼傷身、隨官入墓不可用也。

The mnemonic says: when starting a project involving construction or cutting down trees, if the hexagram body is on "Fortune Virtue" and the "Children" line, it is very auspicious; if the "Children" line is prosperous and strong, all kinds of good fortune will come; if the "Official Ghost" line is activated and repeated, various misfortunes will follow; if the world line is prosperous and receives support, there will be no prohibitions; if the hexagram body is weak and suffers from being controlled, it will violate the directional taboos; when asking about the auspiciousness of direction, it is also judged by this method, without any changes. Any activity such as breaking ground, starting a project, building, repairing, dismantling, cultivating, cutting down trees, changing direction, or altering orientation, as long as the "Children" line holds the world line, or is prosperous, or activated, there will be no obstacles. If the "Children" line is weak and not on the world line, and the "Official Ghost" line is activated, there will certainly be divine calamities, and one must not start the work. Also examine the world line: if the world line is prosperous, it is auspicious; even if it falls in a declining position, as long as it receives support, there will be no prohibitions; if the world line is weak and is controlled by the "Official Ghost" line or the day branch, it will certainly violate some direction; if the world line falls into emptiness, there will certainly be many mistakes. If the "Official Ghost" line is in a weak position, the calamity will not be relevant; any case where theHostile God (hostile god) supports the "Official Ghost" line and harms the world line, or follows the "Official Ghost" into burial, is not suitable for starting work.

福住水爻宜動北，官居金位怕興西，卯寅值子當修震，巳午逢官忌造離，鬼在戌中幹莫改，殺臨辰土巽休趨，兄財父向皆無犯，獨有官方必不宜。修方動土之事，所喜者子孫，所忌者官鬼，看鬼臨何卦何爻，此方莫動。查子值何官何象，其向宜興，假令卜得大壯卦，鬼在寅爻，艮方有煞，官居乾卦西北，有神福在震，官鬼亦屬木，故東方又不可也。

The song says: "Fortune Virtue and children fall on the water爻, it is suitable to start work in the north; official ghost resides in the metal position, it is feared to start work in the west; if the寅and卯爻 are occupied by children, it is suitable to repair the thunder trigram in the east; if the巳and午爻 meet the official ghost, it is forbidden to build in the fire trigram south; if the ghost is on the戌爻, the heaven trigram northwest should not be altered; if evil influences are on the辰earth, the wind trigram southeast should not be approached; the directions where siblings, wealth and parents are located are not forbidden, but the direction where official ghost is located must not be moved. For matters such as starting construction, children are favorable while official ghost is unfavorable: check where the ghost爻 is located in the trigram and爻, that direction should not be moved; check where the children are located in the palace and image, that direction is suitable for starting work. If the卦 obtained is the Great Strength, the ghost is on the寅爻, which belongs to the mountain position, indicating that the mountain direction has evil influences; the official ghost also resides in the heaven trigram, indicating that the northwest also has divine evils; although children are in the thunder trigram, since the official ghost also belongs to wood, the east direction is also not suitable for movement.

子居申象，惟獨西南方永無禁忌。又如萃卦鬼在坤宮又居巳上，切忌西南與東南向莫動土。子臨亥水又值兌，家西北與正西興修不犯，其中兄弟妻財父母之方不須防避，惟有官臨之處動必有殃。子在之方興之，獲福德之方雖吉，卦中鬼動或鬼克世，亦不宜動也。

In this hexagram, theChildren (children) are located in the申 (Shen) line, which belongs to the坤 (Kun) position, so the southwest direction is always free from taboos. For example, in the hexagram 《萃》 (Cui), the ghost line is in the坤 (Kun) palace and falls on the巳 (Si) line, so both the southwest and southeast directions should be avoided for breaking ground. When theChildren (children) are on the亥 (Hai) water line and fall in the兑 (Dui) palace, then the northwest and due west directions are safe for construction. The directions occupied by brothers, wealth, and parents do not need to be avoided. However, the directions where the official ghost (官鬼) is located should be avoided, as any action there will bring disaster. Building in the direction of theChildren (children) can bring fortune and virtue. However, even though the direction of fortune and virtue is favorable, if the ghost line is active or the ghost line overcomes the world line in the hexagram, it is still not advisable to start construction.

拆但豈嫌財象發，興新偏忌父爻虛，造成屋室憂沖散，印綬無空更久居。凡論房屋以父母為用爻，最嫌財動，惟占拆卸舊房，不嫌財發，父縱落空，不須疑慮。凡創新房父宜有氣，但嫌財值交重。財爻又不宜空，空則家資淡薄。又論未造之先井拆舊者，縱遇六沖無咎。房屋既成大忌六沖之卦，更怪父值空亡。卦不沖而父不空，方居久遠。

A rhyme says: When dismantling an old house, there is no worry about the wealth爻 being activated; when building a new house, it is especially disliked if the parents爻 is empty; after the house is built, one worries about the hexagram encountering six clashes; only when the "imperial seal" and parents爻 do not fall into emptiness can one live there long. In all discussions about houses, the parents爻 is considered the useful god, and it is most disliked when the wealth爻 is activated; however, when divining the dismantling of an old house, there is no worry about the wealth爻 being activated, and even if the parents爻 falls into emptiness, there is no need for concern. When building a new house, the parents爻 should have strength, and it is disliked if the wealth爻 is activated repeatedly; but the wealth爻 should not fall into emptiness, as that would indicate a lack of resources at home. Furthermore, before construction begins and during the dismantling of an old house, encountering six clashes is not a problem; but once the house is built, six clashes are greatly disliked, and it is especially feared if the parents爻 falls into emptiness. Only when the hexagram does not encounter clashes and the parents爻 does not fall into emptiness can one live there for a long time.

（起造以間爻為主，單占以應象為憑。）造室修船擇匠工，須憑應上定形蹤，弟兄值此奸愚拙，財福臨之精巧通，父母在時為作首，鬼能壓倒祝符同。凡擇五色工匠，皆看應爻。應臨兄弟，此匠拙而且奸。應若臨財臨子，其人細巧多能。應臨父母，堪為眾匠之班頭。應值鬼爻預防壓倒。

This chapter discusses the selection of craftsmen, emphasizing the "response line" (应爻) in divination. When divining specifically about a craftsman, the "response line" is used as the basis. A mnemonic states: when selecting a craftsman for building a house or repairing a boat, one must rely on the "response line" to determine the craftsman's appearance and behavior. If the "response line" is associated with siblings (兄弟), the craftsman is both dishonest and clumsy; if it is associated with wealth (妻财) or children (子孙), the craftsman is skillful and versatile; if it is associated with parents (父母), the craftsman can lead a team of craftsmen; if it is associated with ghosts (鬼爻), one must be cautious of the craftsman being crushed by objects and should perform rituals or draw talismans for protection. In selecting craftsmen of all kinds, one should examine the "response line": if it is associated with siblings, the craftsman is both dishonest and clumsy; if it is associated with wealth or children lines, the craftsman is meticulous and skilled, possessing many abilities; if it is associated with parents, the craftsman is capable of leading others; if it is associated with ghosts, one must be prepared for the possibility of being crushed by objects.

多言朱雀歸其位，遲鈍勾陳立此工，性獨猖狂居白虎，才高伶利自青龍，空亡墓絕無功績，造不周圓犯六沖。應臨朱雀，開口多言倘招口舌，應帶而去，其人遲鈍，再見鬼爻匠憂跌臥。臨白虎其性剛而且狠毒。遇青龍，心多智慧而技藝精通。若應值騰蛇，匠主虛浮之性，又存一倒之心。應逢玄武，為人甚好奸雄，如帶兄官須防竊取。應爻縱帶青龍財福，若落空亡、或臨月破、或被日辰沖擊，皆莫用之。如卜六沖之卦，匠必無緣，難全終給。

The rhyme says: Those who talk a lot have the Vermilion Bird in the response line position; those who are dull have the Gou Chen in the current line. Those with wild temper have the White Tiger in their position; those who are talented and clever naturally have the Azure Dragon. If the response line falls in the void or enters the墓绝 (grave and decline), they will not achieve success. If the hexagram is afflicted by the Six Clashes, the house will not be built properly. If the response line has the Vermilion Bird, the person is talkative and may bring about disputes. If the response line has the Gou Chen, the person is slow-witted, and if there is also an official ghost line, the craftsman is in danger of falling. If the response line has the White Tiger, the person is stubborn and cruel; if it meets the Azure Dragon, the person is intelligent and skilled. If the response line has the Teng Snake, the craftsman is fickle-minded and may give up halfway. If the response line has the Black Tortoise, the person is cunning; if it also has siblings or official ghosts, one should beware of theft. Even if the response line has the Azure Dragon, wealth, or children, if it falls in the void, or meets the month breaker, or is affected by the day branch, it is not usable. If the hexagram is of the Six Clashes, the craftsman will certainly not be able to complete the work.

應克世爻兄或動，傷財費料弗依徒，興工卦內非如此，間作斯人辨吉凶。應如克世，匠懷暗損之心。兄弟動來克世，多費資財。單選匠人依前一。凡占起造，卦內所兼問匠人者，不取應爻，反憑二間，間若空亡，匠工無力，間克世爻，匠來欺主。間爻臨鬼值騰蛇，須防壓倒。

The song says: if the response line is in conflict with the world line, or if the siblings line is active, then there will be loss of wealth and waste of materials, and one should not use this apprentice. However, in a divination for building a house, this is not the way to interpret it; instead, one should use the "intermediate" line to determine the fortune of this person. If the response line is in conflict with the world line, the craftsman has a hidden intention to harm others. If the siblings line is active and conflicts with the world line, there will be more expenses. If one selects the craftsman individually, then the previous method is used. But when divining about building a house and also asking about the craftsman, the response line is not considered, but instead the two intermediate lines are used: if the intermediate line falls into an empty state, the craftsman lacks strength; if the intermediate line conflicts with the world line, the craftsman will oppress the homeowner; if the intermediate line is accompanied by a ghost line and the snake, one must beware of being injured.

（吉則用子孫為主，凶則用官鬼為憑。）動土修房及造船，安床栽種下春蠶，裁衣蓄髮加冠帶，舉殯除靈安葬連，探客出行醫療病，分居入宅與更遷，諸般吉日嫌官動，又怕官爻克世邊。凡選一應吉日時，皆忌鬼爻發動，鬼縱不動，克世，亦凶。鬼如不動不克世爻，不值作事之日，便為吉也。

This chapter states that for choosing a good day for auspicious affairs, the "Children" line is the main consideration, while for choosing a day for inauspicious affairs, the "Official Ghost" line is used as a reference. The rhyme says: for activities such as breaking ground, building a house, and building a boat, installing a bed, planting crops, starting spring silkworms, making clothes, cutting hair, wearing a cap and tying a sash, holding a funeral, removing the soul tablet, and burying the dead, visiting relatives, traveling away, consulting a doctor, treating illness, dividing property, moving into a new house, and relocating - all these auspicious days are considered unfavorable if the Official Ghost line is active, and also dangerous if the Official Ghost line restrains the World Line. When selecting any auspicious day and time, one should avoid the Official Ghost line being active; even if the Official Ghost line is not active, as long as it restrains the World Line, it is still considered inauspicious. If the Official Ghost line is neither active nor restrains the World Line, and it is not on the day of the intended activity, then it is considered a good day.

虎動休迎棺槨至，兄興開肆損財源，六沖不用成親日，子動單憂赴任官。諸般吉日，忌鬼為先，凡接壽停，又嫌白虎。如作生涯，不宜兄動。結婚承繼，皆忌六沖。惟有赴任官員，不嫌鬼發，反忌子孫動官空。寫像安神同祭禱，官爻靜旺卻為先，鬼空必主神非在，鬼動還愁聖不安。凡寫佛像並安奉神堂、及守天賽願，看鬼爻，切不宜空，空則神祗不在，又不宜動，動則陰司不安。須得靜而又旺，便獲佳祥。鬼克世爻，亦非宜也。又論問卜著免靈日，亦看官爻，或動或旺必通靈，遇絕遇空無感應。賣卜者，喜官鬼。

The song says: On the day when the White Tiger is active, one should not go to receive a coffin; on the day when the Siblings are active, opening a shop will damage the source of wealth; the Six Clashes hexagram should not be used for wedding days; when the Children are active, it is only a worry for officials taking office. For all auspicious days, the first thing to avoid is the Official Ghost line. If one is bringing in a pre-prepared coffin, it is also undesirable if the White Tiger is active. If one is opening a business, it is not suitable for the Siblings to be active; for marriage and taking in a son, the Six Clashes should be avoided. Only for officials taking office, the movement of the Official Ghost is not a problem, but the movement of the Children line and the absence of the Official Ghost are to be avoided. The song also says: Drawing images of gods and Buddhas, setting up altars and performing worship and prayers should first consider the Official Ghost line being still and strong. If the Official Ghost line is empty, the deity is certainly not present; if the Official Ghost line is active, there is worry about the sacred not being at peace. For drawing Buddha images, setting up altars, and keeping watch for offerings and vows, one should look at the Official Ghost line: it should not be empty, as that would mean the deities are not present; it should not be active, as that would cause unrest in the underworld. It must be both still and strong to bring good fortune. If the Official Ghost line comes to harm the World Line, it is also inauspicious. When discussing which day is suitable for divination, one should also look at the Official Ghost line: if it is active or strong, it is certain to be effective; if it is at its end or empty, there will be no response. Therefore, those who make a living from divination actually prefer the Official Ghost line.

上學求師兼拜表，妻財發動事難圓，取徒繼子並收養，父母交重永不全，各定忌神愁旺動，還須鬼靜禍無干。上學攻書延師重傅、具揭奏本、進耳表章、修史鑄印，皆用父母爻為主。父不空而財不動，便作良時。憎道傅徒、民間繼子、及牧養六畜，皆取子為用爻，最嫌父動。但擇日時，卦內忌神不動方不交重，鬼不克世，乃為吉日良時也。

The rhyme says: When going to school and paying homage to a teacher, along with presenting petitions and offerings, if the wealth hexagram is activated, the matter will not be completed smoothly; when taking a disciple, adopting a son, or raising livestock, if the parents hexagram is activated heavily, the matter will never be fully accomplished; each should determine theHostile God accurately, as it is most worrying when it becomes prosperous and strong; also, the ghost hexagram should be quiet, so that misfortune will not interfere. Going to school, hiring a teacher, writing petitions, submitting memorials, and compiling history or casting seals all take the parents hexagram as the main element: if the parents hexagram does not fall into emptiness and the wealth hexagram is not activated, then it is a good time. Taking disciples, adopting sons, and raising livestock all take the children hexagram as the useful god, and it is most disliked when the parents hexagram is activated. In summary, when choosing a day and time, as long as theHostile God in the hexagram does not activate or overlap, and the ghost hexagram does not harm the main element, it is a good day and time.

（以內外為主，衰旺為憑。）守住遷居，內外兩爻分得失；更方改向，福官二位察災祥。內爻為已住之堂，間守內衰終不發，外卦乃未居之地，占移外旺定然昌。兄官若並內之爻，非宜舊室，財福如登外之象，大利新房。

This chapter focuses on the inner and outer trigrams, using their strength and decline as a basis for judgment. The original text says: whether to stay in the old house or move to a new one should be determined by distinguishing gains and losses through the inner and outer trigrams. If one wishes to change direction or alter orientation, one should examine the fortune virtue and children lines along with the official ghost lines to discern auspiciousness or ominous signs. The inner trigram represents the current residence; if the inner trigram is weak when asking about staying, it will ultimately not prosper. The outer trigram represents the place yet to be occupied; if the outer trigram is strong and vigorous when considering moving, it will certainly bring prosperity. If brothers and official ghosts are both located on the lines of the inner trigram, it is not advisable to continue living in the old house. If wife wealth and children are on the images of the outer trigram, it is highly favorable to move into the new house.

凡占守舊，須得內外旺相方為大吉，臨胎沒次之。若得妻財子孫在內，守住為高。內卦如臨死休囚廢，又帶兄官，況無財福者，便宜火速移居，免遭愆咎。若卜遷移，須看外卦，旺帶吉神則吉，休囚值凶煞則凶，外若空亡還須守舊，內如落陷速要更新。

When divining about staying in an old residence, it is essential that both the inner and outer trigrams are prosperous and strong for great good fortune. If they are in the states of "Tai" (fetus) or "Mei" (disappearance), that is the next best. If the wife's wealth and children are within the inner trigram, then staying in the old residence is the best strategy. If the inner trigram is in the states of death, rest, weakness, or decay, and also carries siblings and officials, especially when the trigram does not contain the wife's wealth or children, one should move quickly to avoid misfortune. When divining about moving, one should look at the outer trigram: if the outer trigram is prosperous and strong and accompanied by auspicious spirits, it is favorable; if it is weak and accompanied by malevolent spirits, it is unfavorable. If the outer trigram falls into emptiness, it is better to stay in the old residence. If the inner trigram is weak, one should quickly move to a new residence.

內外居旺，舊新皆吉。內外俱衰，行止皆凶。如占改向最宜財福興隆，大忌兄官發動。雖然不動，兄鬼若臨此向則凶。且如大有卦，財福之方宜朝東北正北，鬼兄之向莫對東南正西。離卦有兄官，正南尤忌。乾宮帶財福，西北可宜。又如甲子旬壬申日占此卦，乾宮雖有財福，臨空，不利西北，妻財雖在寅爻沖破，不宜東北，惟有子孫之向正遇長生，止宜正北。

When both the inner and outer hexagrams are strong, it is auspicious whether one stays or moves; when both are weak, it is inauspicious whether one stays or moves. If the divination is about changing the direction, the most favorable direction is where the wife's wealth and children are flourishing. The most unfavorable is when siblings and official ghosts are activated. Even if they are not activated, if the siblings or ghosts are located in a certain direction, that direction is inauspicious. For example, in the hexagram of Great Possession, the direction where wife's wealth and children are located should face northeast or due north, while the direction where the ghosts and siblings are located should not face southeast or due west. This hexagram has siblings and ghosts in the fire palace, so due south is especially inauspicious. The heaven palace has wife's wealth and children, so northwest is suitable. Another example is when this hexagram is divined on the day of Jiazi in the Renshen cycle. Although the heaven palace has wife's wealth and children, it is exactly in the void, so northwest is unfavorable. Although wife's wealth is in the寅爻, it is broken by the day branch, so northeast is also unfavorable. Only the direction where children are located is favorable because it meets the condition of growth, so it is suitable to face due north.

父為房屋之用爻，憂臨空陷。子乃宅神之本位，喜值興隆，鬼日凶爻，無則家資被耗。財雲吉象，動則屋宇遭傷。父帶吉星或化子孫而眾福，父臨凶殺或之官鬼以成殃。不論移居守舊，皆取父母為用。爻空則不久。子孫為宅神，旺須發福。官鬼為凶星，亦不宜動，動則多禍多殃。又不宜無，無則資財耗散。妻財為財帛亦不宜空，空則生涯冷淡，又不宜動，動則房屋有虧。父母之爻若值青龍天喜貴人者，或變子孫乃是發家之屋。父加白虎亡神或變官鬼便作損耗之房。

The "Parents" are the useful god for a house, and the greatest worry is when they are empty or weak. The "Children" are the native spirits of the house, and it is favorable when they are prosperous and strong. Although "Official Ghost" is considered a凶爻, if it is not present in the hexagram, family wealth will be wasted. Although "Wealth" is considered a good sign, if it is activated, the house may suffer damage. If the "Parents" are accompanied by auspicious stars or transform into "Children," blessings will gather. If the "Parents" are accompanied byInauspicious Sha or transform into "Official Ghost," it will bring disaster. Whether moving or staying in the same house, the "Parents" are taken as the useful god. If the "Parents" are empty, the stay will be short. The "Children" are the native spirits of the house; when they are prosperous and strong, blessings will arise. "Official Ghost" is a凶 star, and it is also not advisable to activate it, as activation brings many troubles and misfortunes. However, it is also not advisable to have none, as absence leads to the loss of wealth. "Wealth" represents wealth, and it is also not advisable to be empty, as emptiness leads to a bleak livelihood; activation also causes damage to the house. If the "Parents" are accompanied by the Azure Dragon, Heavenly Joy, or Nobleman, or transform into "Children," this is a house that brings prosperity. If the "Parents" are accompanied by the White Tiger or the Wasting Star, or transform into "Official Ghost," this is a house that causes loss.

所喜者，生世合世之方。所忌者，克身沖身之向。更憂官鬼之鄉，又喜子孫之所。混卜利行何處，專看世爻，遇合叨生宜往，逢沖受克莫行。又忌鬼值之方，更喜福臨之向，空亡之位，豈可安居？墓絕之鄉，不宜移徙。

The favorable directions are those that generate or harmonize with the World Line. The unfavorable directions are those that overcome or clash with the World Line. One should be particularly concerned about the direction where the Official Ghost is located, and prefer the direction where the Children are present. If the question is general about which direction is beneficial, then focus solely on the World Line: directions that harmonize with or generate the World Line are suitable to go towards; directions that clash with or overcome the World Line should be avoided. Also avoid the direction where the Ghost爻 is located, and prefer the direction where the Children are present. Directions that fall into the void are not suitable for settling; directions that are in the墓 or绝 positions are also unsuitable for moving to.

假令問往何方，占得剝卦，此卦世臨水象，大忌辰戌丑未克世之方，所喜申酉來生，往西則吉。又看鬼臨巳上莫至東南，福在水鄉利行正北。丑方雖合克世不宜。又如六月甲辰旬乙巳日，卜得無妄卦，水來克世不利北方，火賴木生宜行東北，豈知木值空亡，東亦不宜，細查官在申方西南尤忌，止喜福居午上，宜徙正南。因午屬正南故也。

If someone asks which direction to go and draws the Hexagram of Decrease, the World Line belongs to water, and it is most unfavorable to go in the directions of Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei, as these earth elements will overcome the World Line. The preferred directions are Shen and You, metal elements that nourish the World Line, so going west is favorable. Also, the Official Ghost is on the Si爻, so going southeast is not advisable. The Children are in the water direction, so going due north is beneficial. Although the Chou direction is in harmony with the World Line, the Chou earth still overcomes the World Line, so it is also not advisable. For example, on the day of Yisi in the Jiachen decade of June, if one draws the Hexagram of Unwarranted Movement, water overcomes the World Line, so going north is unfavorable. The World Line belongs to fire and relies on wood to nourish it, so originally going northeast is favorable, but the wood element is empty on this day, so going east is also not advisable. Upon further examination, the Official Ghost is in the Shen direction, so southwest is especially unfavorable. Only the Children are in the Wu爻, so going due south is favorable, because Wu is the direction of the south.

卦入六沖，居之不久。世投四墓，行之不成。鬼動則諸般招禍，世空則凡事不寧。不論遷移守舊，若值六沖，皆居不久。世臨墓庫，移徙難成，墓得沖開，反能遷去。不拘住舊更新，不論東南西北，鬼如發動便作凶推。世若空亡，縱吉不吉。卦象縱然旺相又帶青龍宜舊宜新，卻要探微索隱，當行當止，還須闡易參玄。

When a hexagram encounters the Six Clashes, staying in a place is not long-lasting; if the World Line falls into the fourStorage (storage) of Chen, Wei, Chou, or Xu, moving is difficult to achieve; if the ghost爻 (malevolent influence) becomes active, misfortune follows in all matters; if the World Line falls into the empty (亡) position, things remain unsettled. Whether moving or staying, if the Six Clashes are present, staying is not long. If the World Line is located in aStorage, moving is difficult; but if theStorage is broken open by the Six Clashes, moving becomes possible. Whether staying in an old house or moving to a new one, regardless of direction, if the ghost爻 is activated, it is a凶 (malevolent) judgment; if the World Line falls into the empty position, even if originally auspicious, it becomes inauspicious. Even if the hexagram is prosperous and strong and accompanied by the Azure Dragon, whether to stay or move is clear, yet one must still explore subtle details and examine the subtle aspects. Ultimately, whether to move or stay depends on explaining the principles of the Book of Changes and investigating the profound mysteries.

（以世應為主，生克為憑。）與人共住應爻詳，若值空亡不久長，扶世生身皆吉慶，倘來克世主乖張，世空已變他無變，應破他傷己不傷。占人同住卻看世為我，應為他。應若空亡，他居不久。應如生世，必有益有情。應來克世，我被他傷。世值旬空，彼雖無變，我有更遷。應臨月破，彼自遭殃無傷於己。

This chapter focuses on the World Line and Response Line, using generation and overcoming as the basis. The rhyme says: when living with someone, examine the Response Line carefully; if the Response Line falls in an empty month, the stay will not be long; if the Response Line supports and generates the World Line, it is auspicious; but if it overcomes the World Line, it indicates mutual discord. If the World Line falls in an empty旬, it means I will change while the other remains; if the Response Line falls in a month break, the other will suffer while I remain unaffected. When divining about living together with someone, take the World Line as myself and the Response Line as the other person: if the Response Line falls in an empty month, the other will not stay long; if the Response Line generates the World Line, it will benefit me; if the Response Line overcomes the World Line, I will be harmed by the other. If the World Line is in an empty旬, the other remains unchanged while I will move away; if the Response Line is in a month break, the other suffers while I remain unharmed.

應去生官官害世，彼唆殃禍至家鄉，火宮在應防回祿，武鬼臨他引賊藏，官鬼發時憂訟害，子孫旺處得禎祥。應與官爻同來克世、或應生鬼象，鬼自來傷，皆主他唆殃禍損我身家。應值火官，憂他失火。玄武鬼爻臨應，慮彼不良、或窩贓盜、或引賊來家。六爻之內鬼如動者，便為不祥。若得子孫發動、或持世者，定見康寧也。兄動伐身多損耗，交重朱雀有非殃，六沖即便分南北，六合遠須永遠昌。兄弟動來克世，暗耗資財。朱雀爻興，多生是非禍殃。六沖之卦，二邊不久各東西。六合之爻，主客和同堪久住。

The rhyme says: When the response line generates the official ghost, and the official ghost then harms the world line, it indicates that the other party is inciting calamity to fall upon my family. If the ghost in the fire element is located in the response line, there will be worry about fire. If the black tortoise carries the ghost and is on the response line, there will be worry about theft or hiding thieves. When the official ghost is activated, there will be worry about lawsuits. Where the children are prosperous and strong, there will be good fortune. If the response line and the official line both harm the world line, or if the response line generates the ghost and the ghost then harms me, it indicates that the other party is inciting trouble and harming my family. If the response line is associated with the fire element official ghost, there will be worry about fire on their side. If the black tortoise carries the ghost on the response line, there will be worry about their bad intentions, or about hiding stolen goods, or about inviting thieves in. Whenever the ghost is activated among the six lines, it is not auspicious. If the children are activated or if the children hold the world line, one can certainly be protected from illness and trouble. The rhyme says: If the siblings are activated and harm the world line, there will be much loss. If the vermilion bird is activated, there will be much discord and calamity. If the hexagram is six clashes, the parties will soon separate and go their own ways. If the hexagram is six harmony, the situation will be long-lasting and prosperous. If the siblings are activated and harm the world line, there will be secret losses of money. If the vermilion bird is activated, there will be much discord and calamity. A hexagram of six clashes indicates that the parties cannot stay together long and will go their separate ways. A hexagram of six harmony indicates harmony between host and guest, and the ability to stay for a long time.

（以福神為主，才象為憑。）置買田園屋興舟，創丁立戶事同求，福神當道妻財旺，管取興隆利倍收。凡占置買田地、山場、房屋、舟車等物，及成丁立戶事亦相同。卦得子孫持世或發動，妻財旺相或生世克世，定主廣收花利財帛豐盈。若財落空亡又無福德，置產者終無利息，立戶者家不榮昌。

This chapter focuses on "Fushen" (Fortune Deity) and "Qicai" (Wealth). The rhyme says: when buying land, houses, or boats, and establishing households, one should seek in the same way. If "Fushen" is in charge and "Qicai" is prosperous and strong, the family business will flourish and profits will double. When divining about buying land, mountains, houses, boats, and cars, or establishing households, the method of interpretation is the same: if the "Zisun" (Children) is holding the world or active, or if "Qicai" is prosperous and strong or comes to the world or controls the world, it certainly indicates abundant income from rent and interest, and wealth will be plentiful. If the "Caiyao" (Wealth element) falls into an empty position and there is no "Zisun" or "Fude" (Fortune Virtue), then the purchase of property will bring no interest, and the establishment of a household will not lead to prosperity.

內外相沖非永遠，兄官發動切須愁，應爻克世防侵損，世值空虛不久留。置產與創丁，皆忌六沖之卦，沖則不成，縱成不久，日辰沖世亦然。又論兄與鬼皆不宜動，兄動則無財無利，鬼動則多訟多非。若得鬼空兄陷，有利無殃。應如克世，常多侵擾之憂。世若空亡，產存不久。

The song says: When the inner and outer hexagrams clash, property cannot last long; when siblings or official ghosts are active, one must worry greatly; if the response line overcomes the world line, one should beware of loss due to others; if the world line falls into emptiness, the property will not be retained. Buying property and establishing a household both avoid hexagrams of six clashes: encountering a clash means things cannot be completed, and even if they are completed, they will not last long; if the day branch clashes with the world line, the situation is the same. Furthermore, siblings and official ghosts should not be active: if siblings are active, there will be no wealth or profit; if official ghosts are active, there will be many lawsuits and troubles; if the official ghost falls into emptiness and the sibling is weak, there will be profit without harm. If the response line overcomes the world line, there is often worry of being disturbed by others; if the world line falls into emptiness, this property will not be preserved for long.

朱雀鳴時招口舌，勾陳動者許更修，船遇騰蛇驚漸至，屋逢玄武賊頻偷。朱雀值鬼興，置產多招口舌。勾陳臨福動，房屋卻喜更修。臨鬼亦不可也。騰蛇帶鬼為虛驚，又為精怪。田地山場，不必忌之。舟船遇此，驚恐不常。屋宇逢之，內藏魔倒。惟有玄武臨官動者，不拘問屋問船，皆防賊至。

The song says: When the Vermilion Bird cries, there will be disputes over words; when Gou Chen moves, it is suitable to repair buildings; when a boat meets Shen Sha, fear will gradually come; when a house meets Xuan Wu, thieves will frequently come. If the Vermilion Bird is in the position of Official Ghost and moves, buying property will bring many disputes. If Gou Chen is in the position of Children and moves, it is appropriate to rebuild the house; but if Gou Chen is in the position of Official Ghost, then it is not suitable to start construction. When Shen Sha is accompanied by Official Ghost, it indicates false alarms and supernatural beings: if the divination is about land or mountains, there is no need to be cautious; but if it is about boats, there will be constant fear; if it is about houses, there will be evil spirits inside. Only when Xuan Wu is in the position of Official Ghost and moves, whether asking about a house or a boat, one must be cautious of thieves coming.

（以世應為主，福德為憑。）將產寄裝他戶下，能嫌世應犯其空，遠年共籍爻逢合，近日分顏卦值沖。凡卜寄丁寄產，須觀世應之爻。世空或寄不成，縱寄不久。應空，彼不相容，雖容不美。世應皆空，決然不利。世應俱動，後必有更。卦逢六合，永久和諧。合處逢沖，後來退悔。如卜六沖之卦，必是口是心非，彼我無情何能寄籍？

The mnemonic says: when you entrust property under another's name, it is most unfavorable if the World and Response Lines both fall into emptiness. If the lines meet the Six Harmony, they can remain together in the same household register for a long time. If the hexagram indicates Six Clashes, they will soon become estranged. When divining about entrusting a person or property, one must examine the World and Response Lines. If the World Line falls into emptiness, or if the entrustment fails, even if it succeeds, it will not last long. If the Response Line falls into emptiness, the other party will not accept it, and even if they do, it will not be good. If both the World and Response Lines fall into emptiness, it will certainly be unfavorable. If both lines are activated, there will certainly be changes later. If the hexagram indicates Six Harmony, it can bring long-term harmony. However, if it originally indicates Six Harmony but later meets Six Clashes, the outcome will be regrettable. If the hexagram indicates Six Clashes, the other party will be insincere and lack affection, making it impossible to entrust the household registration.

福旺鬼衰皆喜悅，兄安雀靜兩和同，世遭應害防吞占，應若扶身決始終。寄裝之事，須得子孫旺相，或持世上或值動爻，便無門戶。鬼兄朱雀不動，終得安閒。兄值動爻克世，多遭破費。雖動不克世，縱費還輕。應帶神克世，彼懷吞占之心，世得應生，全賴維持之力。應生世為美。鬼雀動興多戶役，文書空陷莫投從，旁爻克世加兄動，後慮傍人舉首凶。鬼臨朱雀交重，決與詞訟、或審差徭。父母為產業，若落空亡，不宜寄此。旁爻兄動克世，必有他人舉首。若得子孫同發，不妨。

The song says: If the children are prosperous and strong, and the ghost line is weak, both sides will be happy; if the siblings are quiet and the Vermilion Bird does not move, both sides will be harmonious; if the world line is harmed by the response line, be careful of being taken over; if the response line supports the world line, this relationship will have a beginning and an end. For matters concerning property, the children should be prosperous and strong, or hold the world line, or be the moving line, otherwise one may be involved in family disputes. If the ghost line, the sibling line, and the Vermilion Bird do not move, it will eventually be peaceful. If the sibling line is the moving line and also harms the world line, there will be many expenses; although it moves but does not harm the world line, even if there are expenses, they will be light. If the response line brings aInauspicious Spirit to harm the world line, the other party has the intention of taking over; if the world line is supported by the response line, it relies entirely on the other party's support and protection. In summary, it is good if the response line supports the world line. The song says: If the ghost line moves with the Vermilion Bird, there will be many household duties; if the parents (representing documents) fall into empty, one should not rely on them; if other lines harm the world line, and the sibling line moves, there will be danger of being accused by others. If the ghost line is accompanied by the Vermilion Bird and moves, one must go to court or be assigned to duties. The parents represent property, if they fall into empty, it is not advisable to place property here. If the sibling line moves and harms the world line, there will certainly be someone coming forward to accuse; if at the same time the children line moves and controls the ghost line, it will be all right.

（以用爻為主，財福為憑。）治國齊家權最重，分居合夥數同排，弟兄當道兄宜旺，父母司權父怕衰，子媳掌家求福德，妻奴管舍伏妻財，自身專主推身世，各定爻神莫亂猜。若問治家之主，各有用爻。兄如專主，兄弟宜逢生旺。父母當權，文書不宜空絕。用在兒女，子莫休囚。家托妻孥，財爻莫陷。自身作主，須看世爻。他人代卜，應莫空亡。

This chapter focuses on the use of the Useful God, relying on the Wealth and Fortune Virtue. The rhyme says: governing a country and managing a family, the authority of the head of the household is most important; when dividing the family or forming partnerships, the same principle applies. If siblings are in charge, the Siblings line should be strong; if parents are in charge, the Parents line should not be weak; if children and their wives are in charge, the Fortune Virtue and Children lines should be considered; if the wife and servants manage the household, the Wealth line should be relied upon; if the person themselves is in charge, the Hexagram Body and World Line should be used. Each person should first determine their own line accurately, without guessing. If asking who the head of the family is, each has their own Useful God: if siblings are in charge of household affairs, the Siblings line should be born and strong; if parents are in charge, the Parents line related to documents should not be empty or in decline; if the Useful God is in the children's line, the Children line should not be weak and confined; if household affairs are entrusted to the wife and children, the Wealth line should not be weak; if the person themselves is in charge, the World Line should be considered; if someone else is divining on their behalf, the Response Line should not be empty or lost.

用旺變衰前獲福，用衰變旺後生財，用爻靜旺無沖剋，前後興隆謝上臺。用神雖臨旺相而變墓絕克沖、或之退氣洩氣，始雖茂盛終見蕭條。主象縱值休囚，化出生扶進氣、或之帝旺長生，前雖貧乏，後主榮華。用爻安靜旺相又無沖剋刑傷，定見始終發達家道興隆。用旺雖臨動處更變生扶，此乃錦上添花，理合答謝天地。

The rhyme says: If the useful god is first prosperous and then turns weak, it brings benefit at first; if the useful god is first weak and then turns prosperous, it brings wealth later on; if the useful god is both quiet and prosperous, and not subjected to clash or control, it will bring prosperity both before and after, and one should thank heaven. Even if the useful god is in a prosperous and strong state, but turns into the grave, death, control, or transforms into retreat and leakage, then although it starts off flourishing, it will eventually decline. Even if the main element is in a weak and confined state, as long as it transforms into generation and support, or turns into prosperity or growth, then although it starts off poor, it will eventually bring honor and success. If the useful god is quiet and prosperous, and not subjected to clash, control, or injury, it will certainly remain prosperous and the family will flourish. If the useful god is already prosperous and also meets the moving line, and transforms into generation and support, this is like adding flowers to a rich tapestry, and one should naturally thank heaven and earth.

六合年年增產業，六沖歲歲見多乖，福財若動佳祥兆，兄鬼如興橫禍來。若卜分居或占合住，先看用爻，次評諸象。爻當六合，添丁進產之榮。卦犯六沖，損物費財之禍。若得妻財子孫發動、或值世身，必多吉慶。兄弟動，則資財耗散。官鬼動，則詞訟干連。

The rhyme says: When a hexagram meets the Six Harmony, there will be continuous increase in property each year; when a hexagram meets the Six Clashes, there will be frequent misfortunes every year. If the line of children or wealth moves, it is a sign of good fortune. If the line of siblings or official ghosts moves, misfortune is likely to come. If one is divining about dividing the family or living together, first look at the useful god, then evaluate the other lines. If a line meets the Six Harmony, there will be honor of adding members and increasing property; if the hexagram meets the Six Clashes, there will be loss of property and misfortune. If wealth or children move, or if they are at the world line or hexagram body, there will certainly be good fortune. If siblings move, wealth will be wasted; if official ghosts move, legal disputes will arise.

內外卦爻逢旺相，縱無吉曜稱君懷。死囚休廢臨其象，定主蕭條又非災。星辰不若五行，爻象曾如八卦，雖看爻神之動靜，還推卦體之興衰。內外二卦如臨旺相之鄉，縱無財福吉神，也主興家發產。如臨胎沒，稍得從容。內外若遇死囚休廢，縱有吉星，也難發達，非惟無福，反有災愆。內外一旺一衰，事主半凶半吉。內外皆值空亡，定見破家蕩產。衰卦變生扶，先貧而後富。旺卦之沖剋，前富而後貧。

A rhyme says: if the inner and outer trigrams' lines are in a prosperous and strong state, even without auspicious stars, they are considered to indicate people's wishes; if the trigrams are in the states of death, captivity, rest, or decay, they will certainly be bleak and bring calamity. Divine stars and celestial influences are not as powerful as the Five Phases, and a single line is not as significant as the Eight Trigrams. Although we need to consider the movement and stillness of the line spirits, we must also examine the rise and decline of the trigrams. If the inner and outer trigrams are in a prosperous and strong state, even without wealth lines, children, or auspicious deities, they still indicate the establishment of a family and success in business; if they are in the states of 'fetus' or 'hidden', life will be relatively easy. If the inner and outer trigrams encounter death, captivity, rest, or decay, even with auspicious stars, success is difficult, not only bringing no fortune, but also calamity. If one trigram is prosperous and the other is in decline, the matter will be half good and half bad; if both trigrams are in a state of emptiness, there will certainly be the destruction of the family and loss of property. A declining trigram transforming into one that generates and supports will first be poor and then become rich; a prosperous trigram transforming into one that clashes and controls will first be rich and then become poor. The terms 'fetus' and 'hidden' mentioned here, as well as death, captivity, rest, and decay, are all the classifications of the Eight Trigrams' prosperity and decline according to the seasons as described in the chapter 'Six Matters Concerning People and Their Homes'.

（以妻財為主，不遇絕空沖破為佳。）取奴財靜稱心懷，鬼動招殃兄動乖，財興應爻生世吉，應空財破豈能諧。主占取僕，財乃用爻，亦不宜動，動須不久，又不宜空，空不助主。卦若無財，非為奴僕才。爻縱然有氣，又不宜官鬼兄弟交重，鬼動則多災訟。兄動則多是多非。若得鬼又安靜，財興應爻又來生世合世，必是助主興家。應若空亡、或財被日沖月破，其僕身在此心向他人，有何力哉？

This chapter focuses on "Wealth." The Wealth Line should not meet the conditions of being in the "绝" (decline), "空" (empty), "冲" (conflict), or "破" (broken) state. The rhyme says: hiring servants, the Wealth Line should be quiet to be satisfactory; if the Official Ghost Line moves, it brings misfortune, and if the Siblings Line moves, it causes discord; if the Wealth Line is strong and the Response Line supports the Main Line, it is favorable; but if the Response Line is empty and the Wealth Line is broken, how can harmony be achieved? When the owner asks about hiring a servant, the Wealth Line is the Useful God: the Wealth Line should not move, as movement leads to instability; it should not be empty, as being empty means it cannot help the master. If the Wealth Line is not present in the hexagram, this person is not suitable to be a servant. Even if the Wealth Line has some strength, it is not good if the Official Ghost and Siblings Lines move together; if the Official Ghost moves, there will be many disputes, and if the Siblings move, there will be many troubles. If the Official Ghost is quiet, the Wealth Line is strong, and the Response Line supports and harmonizes with the Main Line, this servant will certainly help the master to prosper. If the Response Line is empty or the Wealth Line is conflicted by the Day Branch or broken by the Month Builder, this servant may be physically present but mentally elsewhere, and thus be of no use.

游魂誠恐心常改，合處逢沖主僕開，前後卦中沖大忌，用臨驛馬去難來。凡卜游魂，此僕心常不定不可用之。如逢六合之卦，財爻不動不空，決然主僕相投，又能綿遠。若合處逢沖，始雖和而終必競，豈能久乎？若值六沖之卦、或變出六沖，皆說上下無緣，離心離德，複查驛馬星，如值財爻或應爻動者，心在他行，後恐潛蹤滅跡。驛馬縱臨財，應不動無妨。

A song says: If a hexagram meets the floating soul, it indicates constant change of mind; if the Six Harmony is also met with a clash, master and servant will eventually part ways; if both the primary and resulting hexagrams contain a clash, it is a major ill omen; if the useful god is on the Post Horse, the person will leave and not return. Any hexagram that is a floating soul indicates an unstable mind of the servant, so he should not be used. If the hexagram is Six Harmony, and the wealth line is neither active nor empty, master and servant will certainly be harmonious and able to live together for a long time. However, if within the Six Harmony there is also a clash, although they may start off harmonious, they will eventually quarrel and cannot last long. If the hexagram is a Six Clash, or if it changes into a Six Clash, it indicates a lack of connection between superior and inferior, and a lack of unity. Now check the Post Horse star: if the Post Horse is on the wealth line, or if the responding line is active, the person's mind is already elsewhere, and in the future he may run away and disappear. Even if the Post Horse is on the wealth line, as long as the responding line is not active, there is no problem.

（以應爻為主，不遇絕空沖破為佳。）僱工人把應爻推，若落空亡意漸隨，生合世身方得力，不逢沖破滿年回。凡僱人工，以應爻為主，應若落空，豈能助力？應加旺相又來生世或合世，或興世比和，皆得助主之力，應爻若被日沖月破、或六沖之卦，皆不得滿年足月，半途而廢也。

This chapter focuses on the "Response Line" as the main factor. It is considered good if the Response Line does not encounter death, emptiness, clash, or destruction. The rhyme says: when hiring workers, refer to the Response Line. If the Response Line falls into emptiness, his mind will gradually follow others; if the Response Line generates and harmonizes with the World Line, he will be effective; if it does not meet clash or destruction, he can work for a full year before returning. In general, when hiring workers, the Response Line is the main consideration. If the Response Line falls into emptiness, how can he exert effort? If the Response Line is in a prosperous and strong state and also generates and harmonizes with the World Line, or harmonizes with the World Line, he will be able to assist. If the Response Line is clashed by the Day Branch or destroyed by the Month Builder, or if the hexagram encounters six clashes, he will not be able to work for a full year or month, and will certainly give up halfway.

兄官動以凶殃擾，財子興而吉慶隨，世克應爻人必服，應傷世象主遭虧。兄弟官鬼二者，皆不宜動，動則不寧。帶朱雀動，易惹是非。臨玄武動，倘遭失脫。雖動不克世猶可。兄鬼動來克世，其禍愈加。妻財旺而生世者，必假其力以生財。子孫持世或發動，則無憂而有喜。世如克應，可以服人。應克世爻，反來欺主。若得相生，上和下睦。

A rhyme says: If siblings and official ghosts are activated, there will be misfortune and disturbances; if wife's wealth and children are prosperous, there will be good fortune and joy. If the world line overcomes the response line, workers will certainly obey; if the response line injures the world line, the household will suffer loss. Siblings and official ghosts should not be activated, for once they are, there will be unrest. If the vermilion bird is activated, there is likely to be disputes; if the black tortoise is activated, there may be theft. Although activated but not overcoming the world line, it is still acceptable; if siblings or official ghosts are activated and overcome the world line, the calamity will be more severe. If wife's wealth is prosperous and strong and generates the world line, it will surely bring strength to generate wealth. If children hold the world line or are activated, there will be no worries and happiness. If the world line overcomes the response line, it can control that person; if the response line overcomes the world line, it will instead oppress the household. If the world and response lines mutually generate, harmony will be achieved between them.

（以妻財為主，福德為憑。）凡卜田禾當看財，如居空絕莫釁栽，官爻持世興傷世，便作凶荒復細開，火患焦枯天亢旱，水多洪雨沒圩階，土金二象螟蝗出，木被風吹虛耗災，子動財興方大熟，鬼空兄靜永無乖。若卜田禾，財為主象。財臨絕地又不生扶，若陷空中更無填實，子孫又不當道，必主無收。官鬼若持世上，縱不持世如值交重、或來克世，如此三端犯一，便為荒歉。鬼值火興，其年亢旱。官臨水動，洪雨連綿，臨金臨土，皆犯蟲侵。惟值木官，收被狂風吹偃殼枇輕收。如無風害，必遭虛耗。陰陽秀而不實，鬼爻不動又不持世克世，雖帶五行不必言也。若得子孫發動，妻財有氣，鬼兄安靜休囚，此等卦爻主為大熟。

If the official ghost爻 holds the world line, or if the official ghost爻 becomes active and harms the world line, it indicates a bad year with famine. Further细分: If the official ghost is of fire nature, it causes drought and withers the crops; if it is of water nature, there is heavy rain causing floods and destroying the fields; if it is of earth or metal nature, there are locusts and pests; if it is of wood nature, the crops are blown down by wind, leading to loss. When the children爻 becomes active and the wealth爻 is strong, it indicates a good harvest. If the official ghost爻 is empty and the brothers are quiet, there will be no problems. When divining about crops, the wealth爻 is the main symbol. If the wealth爻 is in an empty or dead position without support, or is trapped in an empty position without being filled, and the children are not in charge, there will definitely be no harvest. If the official ghost holds the world line, even if it does not hold the world line, as long as it becomes active and heavily involved, or comes to harm the world line, any of these three conditions indicates a year of famine. If the official ghost is of fire nature and becomes active, there will be drought; if the official ghost is of water nature and becomes active, there will be continuous rain; if the official ghost is of metal or earth nature, there will be pests; only if the official ghost is of wood nature, the crops will be blown down by strong winds, resulting in dry grains and a poor harvest. If there is no wind, there will still be loss, with the crops growing but not结实. If the official ghost is neither active nor holds the world line to harm it, then even if it carries a certain five phases, it does not need to be considered. If the children爻 becomes active, the wife's wealth is strong, and the official ghost and brothers are quiet and weak, the divination indicates a great harvest.

（以應爻為主，財象為憑。）浼婦來家代育蠶，財為主象應為先，財中莫變兄和鬼，應上休臨父與官。凡占蠶婦先察應爻次觀財象，財若空亡、或化兄弟官鬼，便曰薄收。應爻若臨父母官鬼，反傷蠶畜，不可用之。應發克世，設計中傷終無利益也。

This chapter focuses on the "Response Line" as the main element, using the image of "Wealth" as the basis. The rhyme says: invite a woman to the house to raise spring silkworms, with the Wealth Line as the main image and the Response Line as the priority; the Wealth Line must not change into Siblings or Official Ghosts, and the Response Line must not be occupied by Parents or Official Ghosts. When divining about a silkworm woman, first examine the Response Line, then look at the Wealth Line: if the Wealth Line falls into an empty position or transforms into Siblings or Official Ghosts, it indicates a poor harvest for the season. If the Response Line is occupied by Parents or Official Ghosts, it will harm the silkworms and livestock, and this woman should not be used. If the Response Line moves to attack the World Line, it will cause hidden harm, ultimately leading to no benefit.

旺相子孫多蠶繭，交重兄弟少絲綿，父搖有害憂人觸，子絕無收費葉錢。子孫旺相，多獲絲綿。兄弟動興，有虧資本。兄動子亦動，蠶反倍收。父母交二，猶恐人來觸犯，宜慎蠶房。子如遇絕或值空亡，枉費葉錢，蠶花無望。

The rhyme says: if the children's hexagram is prosperous and strong, then there will be a lot of silkworm cocoons; if the siblings' hexagram is activated and strong, then there will be less silk; if the parents' hexagram is activated, there will be worries and someone may attack the silkworm house; if the children's hexagram reaches its decline, there will be no silkworm harvest, and the money spent on mulberry leaves will be wasted. If the children's hexagram is prosperous and strong, there will be much silk; if the siblings' hexagram is activated, there will be a loss. However, if both siblings and children's hexagrams are activated, the elder brother can generate the child, and the silkworm harvest will double. If the parents' hexagram is activated and strong, there is fear of someone interfering and attacking the silkworm house, so the silkworm house should be especially cautious. If the children's hexagram meets its decline or is in an empty state, then the money spent on mulberry leaves will be wasted, and there will be no hope for silkworm production.

鬼動六沖皆不用，卦逢震巽盡成歡，應空彼力無毫忽，財旺絲金獲萬千。官鬼發動，必損春蠶。鬼動子亦動，卻辨興衰。子旺鬼衰又無損害，子衰鬼旺仍作凶推。卦犯六沖無緣莫用。惟有震巽為蠶娘，或內或外得此卦中，其婦善能育飼。又看三爻與應爻皆為蚤婦，若犯月破旬空婦必懶惰眠起失時，或此婦既時有病。蠶婦不臨空地，兄鬼不動財福皆興，此等卦爻十倍收成。

The rhyme says: If the official ghost line is activated and the hexagram meets the six clashes, this woman is not suitable; if the hexagram contains the Zhen or Xun trigrams, then everything is fine; if the response line is empty, she will not be able to do anything; if the wealth line is prosperous and strong, the silk price is as valuable as gold, and great profits can be made. If the official ghost line is activated, it will certainly harm the silkworms; but if both the official ghost line and the children line are activated, we need to distinguish their strength and weakness: if the children line is strong and the official ghost line is weak, there will be no harm; if the children line is weak and the official ghost line is strong, it is still considered a bad omen. If the hexagram is involved in the six clashes, she is not suitable, so do not use it. Only the Zhen and Xun trigrams represent the silkworm woman; if either the inner or outer trigram contains these, the woman is good at raising silkworms. Also look at the third line and the response line, which both represent the silkworm woman: if they are affected by the month break or the ten-day emptiness, the woman is definitely lazy, missing the time for feeding the silkworms and starting the cocooning process, or she is sick at that time. If the silkworm woman line is not empty, and the brothers and official ghost lines are not activated, while the wealth and children lines are strong, the hexagram will yield ten times the harvest.

（以福神為卦主，財象為憑。）凡看春蠶，須得福神旺相；欲成絲繭，惟求財象興隆。子孫為蠶花、妻財為絲繭，二者不可空與無，大宜旺相。鬼動福空，雖育半筐還損失；官衰子旺，任收十倍更盈餘。財福二爻臨木火，靜而尤美；兄官兩象值世應，動則尤凶。

This chapter takes "Fushen" (Favorable Deity) and "Zisun" (Children) as the main elements of the hexagram, using the image of "Qicai" (Wealth) as a reference. The original text says: When observing spring silkworms, one must have the Favorable Deity prosperous and strong; to form silk cocoons, one should seek the prosperity of the Wealth image. "Zisun" represents the silkworm flowers, and "Qicai" represents the silk cocoons; both should not be missing or empty, and it is best if they are prosperous and strong. The original text also says: If the ghost爻 (Ghost Line) is activated and "Zisun" is empty, although one may raise half a basket of silkworms, there will still be losses; if the official爻 (Official Line) is weak but "Zisun" is strong, even if one harvests ten times the amount, there will still be surplus. When the Wealth and Favorable Deity lines are accompanied by Wood or Fire lines, their stillness is especially favorable; if the Brother and Official images are on the World Line and Response Line, their activation will bring especially bad outcomes.

凡育春蠶，所喜者財福二爻，所忌者兄官兩象。鬼如發動子又空亡，此蠶不拘多寡，殄滅無遣。鬼象衰而且靜，子值旺鄉，全收蠶利。子孫但臨木火，多獲絲斤。如臨金水之爻，蠶僵利失。子居辰戌丑未，止得半收。又論子孫為蠶命之爻，不動不空靜旺，稱為大吉。兄弟官鬼不宜臨世應之爻，靜無大害，動興災。

In raising spring silkworms, the favorable signs are the Wealth and Children lines, while the unfavorable signs are the Siblings and Official Ghost lines. If the Official Ghost line is activated and the Children line falls into the empty position, all the silkworms, regardless of their number, will die completely. If the Official Ghost line is weak and still, and the Children line is strong and in a favorable position, the silkworms will yield a full harvest. If the Children line is associated with Wood or Fire lines, the silk production will be abundant; if it is associated with Metal or Water lines, the silkworms will become stiff and the profit will be lost. If the Children line is located on the Earth lines of Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei, only half the harvest will be obtained. Furthermore, the Children line is considered the vital line for silkworms: if it remains still, not empty, and is both quiet and strong, it is considered highly auspicious. The Siblings and Official Ghost lines should not be located on the World and Response lines: when they are still, there is no great harm, but when they are activated, disaster will occur.

有子官興，速去祈禳終有益。無孫鬼動，縱來祭禱也無功。子變父官，滿室盈欄無結秀。官之財福，答天謝地有收成。鬼雖發動，子無刑剋沖傷，若還祭禱，終有收成。子孫若受克逢空及不上卦，縱然請禱，亦無所收。子雖得地，若變兄弟鬼爻、或之墓絕、或被月建相傷，三眠四起雖不可觀，到老收成大失所望。卦有子孫又見鬼爻發動，未可便作凶推。鬼若變為財福，若去酬神，自獲蠶利。

When the hexagram contains children but the official ghost moves, one should hurry to pray and make offerings to appease the deities, and eventually it will be beneficial. If the hexagram lacks children and the ghost爻 moves, even if one comes to pray and make offerings, there will be no effect. If the children change into parents or official ghosts, then even though the silkworms are full in the house and the silk reeling is abundant, they will not produce good silk. If the official ghost changes into wealth or children, then by offering thanks to heaven and earth, there will be a good harvest. Although the ghost爻 moves, as long as the children are not harmed by being restrained, attacked, or conflicting, if one is willing to pray and make offerings, eventually there will be a harvest. If the children are restrained, meet an empty position, or do not appear in the hexagram at all, even if one prays and makes offerings, there will be nothing to gain. Even if the children are in a favorable position, if they change into siblings or official ghosts, or if they enter the墓绝 position, or if they are harmed by the month builder, then although during the three sleeps and four rises the situation seems good, in the end the harvest will still be greatly disappointing. If the hexagram contains children and the ghost爻 moves, one should not immediately conclude it is a bad omen. If the ghost爻 changes into wealth or children, as long as one offers thanks to the deities and fulfills vows, one will naturally gain benefits from the silkworms.

子乃蠶身，無片言之辨。鬼為病症，有五類之分。水犯溼青，火當焦退，金為亮白，土主痿黃，木被狂風，蛇遭驚恐，勾陳因動作之妨，白虎為喪家之犯，遇青龍慮笙簫歌唱，逢朱雀憂斗打喧爭，玄武則穢氣而沖，咸池則穢人而觸。子防鼠耗，巳受蛇傷。鬼到巽宮倘遭風報，官來震卦恐受雷驚，坎中則被漏淋漓，離內則有傷火氣。

TheChildren represents the silkworm itself, and there is nothing further to distinguish it; the official ghost, however, refers to illness, which has five different types. The water ghost causes damp disease and the silkworm turns blue; the fire ghost leads to withering and shrinking; the metal ghost results in the silkworm appearing bright and white; the earth ghost causes yellowing; and the wood ghost is harmed by strong winds. If the ghost is accompanied by the snake, there will be fear and anxiety; if accompanied by Gou Chen, there will be obstacles due to moving or changing location; if accompanied by the White Tiger, there will be mourning in the family. If the dragon is present, there may be disturbances from music and singing; if the Vermilion Bird is present, there may be disputes and noise; if the Black Tortoise is present, there will be an offense from foul air; if the Salty Pool is present, there will be an offense from unclean people. The ghost in the son position should be cautious of mice damaging the silkworms; the ghost in the snake position should be cautious of snakes causing harm. If the ghost is in the Wind trigram, there may be wind; if the official is in the Thunder trigram, there may be fear from thunder; if the ghost is in the Water trigram, the silkworm house may be damaged by rain; if the ghost is in the Fire trigram, there may be fire damage to the silkworms.

子孫之論其列在前，今推官鬼之爻，不宜發動，動必有傷，看值何爻，便知何病。水鬼主蠶鳥爛，火官漸漸焦稀，金主白僵，土當黃死，木鬼為日月風而損，騰蛇因驚嚇而傷，勾陳鬼或曾更前改後動犯有妨。白虎反恐鄰家舉殯除滅、或有服之人進室，故損蠶花。青龍鬼倘逢淫樂及歌唱之聲，朱雀鬼恐聞鬥毆並喧嚷之非。玄武鬼防穢氣之沖傷。咸池鬼忌穢人之獨犯。子鬼慮鼠來吞，巳鬼憂蛇來啖。官臨巽卦動，蠶被風傷。鬼在震宮興，蠶遭雷嚇。坎內鬼搖，蠶房雨滴。離中官發，傷火難調。鬼若靜時，莫將此斷。

Discussions about the Children's爻 have already been covered. Now let us examine the Official Ghost爻. The Official Ghost should not be activated; if it does, there will be injury. Look at which爻 it occupies to determine the illness. A Water Ghost indicates decay and blackening of the body; a Fire Ghost suggests gradual withering and reduction; a Metal Ghost implies white stiffness; a Earth Ghost means yellowing and death; a Wood Ghost results from exposure to wind and sun. If the Official Ghost is accompanied by theTeng Snake, it is due to fright; if it is with theGou Chen, it may be because of previous disturbances like moving the ground and offending spirits. If it is with theWhite Tiger, one should fear funeral processions from neighboring households or someone in mourning entering the house, which could damage the silkworms. If it is with theAzure Dragon, there may be music and singing. If it is with theVermilion Bird, there might be disputes and noise. If it is with theBlack Tortoise, there is a risk of foul air causing harm. If it is with theSalty Pool, one should avoid unclean people entering alone. If the Official Ghost is on the子爻, worry about mice eating; if it is on the巳爻, fear snake bites. If the Official Ghost is on the巽卦, the silkworms will be harmed by wind; if it is on the震宫, the silkworms will be frightened by thunder; if it is on the坎宫, the silkworm house will leak rain; if it is on the离卦, the silkworms will be harmed by fire and it will be hard to manage. If the Official Ghost is still, do not use these interpretations.

初為蠶種，見則宜更。二作蠶苗，帶須受病。三曰蠶娘之位，犯必災生。四雲蠶葉之爻，臨渠價重。五是蠶筐，逢之有損。六當蠶繭蘭，遇者無收。雖臨官而安靜，稍見其殃，如值鬼以交重，定成此禍。卦列六爻，皆為蠶體。但逢官鬼，禍必相隨。靜則其禍還輕，動則此殃最重。鬼若交重，便宜祭禱。要知何祟，詳見搜決神鬼章。

The first line represents the silkworm eggs, and if the official ghost appears here, it indicates a need to change the eggs. The second line represents the silkworm sprouts, and if the ghost is present, it will cause illness. The third line represents the position of the silkworm mother, and if the ghost is involved, disaster will surely occur. The fourth line represents the mulberry leaves, and if the ghost is above it, the price of the leaves will rise. The fifth line represents the silkworm basket, and if the ghost is present, there will be loss. The sixth line represents the cocoons and the silkworm frames, and if the ghost is encountered, there will be no harvest. Although these lines may have the official ghost but remain still, the calamity will be less severe. However, if the ghost line becomes active and overlaps, it will certainly lead to the aforementioned disasters. All six lines in a hexagram belong to the body of the silkworm; as long as the official ghost appears, disaster will follow. When still, the disaster is lighter, but when active, the calamity is the heaviest. If the ghost line becomes active and overlaps, one should perform rituals to pray and appease. One must identify which spirit is causing the trouble, as detailed in the chapter "Searching for and Resolving Spirits and Ghosts."

父值身爻，有子無兄多損害。兄臨世動，有財無子少絲綿。貪生忘克若分明，萬事千端皆透徹。父母持世，或發動、或臨日月、子必受傷，蠶難勝意。若兄弟與父爻同發，轉助子威，蠶獲大利。兄弟持世或發動或臨日月，能克妻財，難收絲繭。如逢子興兄爻皆動轉生子象，其年倍得絲綿。凡看卦爻須察貪生忘克，不可鹵莽輕言。

When the parents are on the hexagram body line, even if there are children, without siblings to mediate, harm is likely to occur. If siblings are on the world line and become active, even with wealth, without children to support, silk production will be scarce. If one can clearly understand the principle of 'preferring to nourish rather than to harm,' all complex matters can be understood. If parents are holding the world line, or are active, or are on the day branch or month builder, the children will certainly be harmed, and sericulture will not be satisfactory. If siblings and parents are both active, with the parent generating the sibling and the sibling generating the child, this will instead enhance the children's strength, leading to great benefit in sericulture. If siblings are holding the world line, or are active, or are on the day branch or month builder, they can harm wealth, making silk difficult to harvest; if children are also active, the sibling line will instead support the children, leading to double the silk production for the year. In examining hexagram lines, one must carefully consider this relationship of 'preferring to nourish rather than to harm,' and must not make hasty judgments.
