看身安命，祿馬不落空亡，天空、截空最緊，旬空次之。第一看命宮吉凶、廟旺、化吉化忌、生克。次看身主吉凶生克。三看遷移、財帛、官祿三方星辰刑沖剋破。四看福德宮權祿劫空廟陷，以福德宮對財帛宮也。身命、遷移、財官、福德六宮名曰八座，俱在成照聚吉化吉，富貴高壽。六宮俱陷，聚凶化忌，孤寡夭壽。若卯酉時生人尤外，有田宅、疾厄已錄於後。

When assessing a person's destiny, first examine the placement of the body palace and the destiny palace, with particular emphasis on ensuring that the "Wealth-salary star" and the "Star of movement" do not fall into the "Kongwang" (void). Among these, the "Star of emptiness" and "Star of severance" are the most harmful, while the "decanal void" is less severe. The first step is to examine the fortune and misfortune of the destiny palace—whether the stars are in their favorable positions, whether they transform into auspicious stars or inauspicious stars, and whether their Five Phases are mutually generating or controlling. The second step is to examine the fortune and misfortune of the "body ruler" star. The third step is to check whether the stars in the migration, wealth, and officialdom sectors are affected by punishment, conflict, control, or destruction. The fourth step is to examine the "transformed authority" and "transformed wealth" in the virtue palace, as well as the "plunder malefic" and "star of emptiness"—whether they are in favorable or unfavorable positions, since the virtue palace directly faces the wealth palace. The body palace, destiny palace, migration, wealth, officialdom, and virtue palaces are collectively known as the "eight seats." If all six palaces receive auspicious stars and encounter transformed auspicious stars, it indicates wealth, honor, and longevity. If all six palaces fall into unfavorable positions, with malevolent stars gathering and encountering transformed inauspicious stars, it indicates isolation and a short life. Those born at卯 (rabbit) hour or酉 (rooster) hour are exceptions. The interpretations of the fields of home and illness are recorded later.

又看父母、妻子三宮，俱有劫空殺忌，僧道之命，否則孤獨貧窮。若命宮無正曜者，財官二宮有吉星拱照，富貴全美，或偏房庶母所生。三方有惡星沖照，或二姓可延生，離祖可保成家。如命宮有正曜吉星，廟旺化吉，三方又有吉星會合，上上之命。如無正曜吉星，三方有吉，上次之命。

Now looking at the parents, spouse, and children sectors, if all three sectors have 'Plunder malefic', 'Star of emptiness', and malevolent stars or harmful influences, it indicates a destiny of becoming a monk or a Taoist priest; if not becoming a monk or Taoist, it still suggests loneliness and poverty. For those whose natal chart does not have any of the fourteen main stars governing the命宫, as long as the wealth and officialdom sectors are supported by auspicious stars, they can still achieve wealth and completeness, though such people are mostly born from a concubine or a secondary mother. If there are evil stars conflicting with the three sectors, they must be adopted by another family to preserve their lives, or leave their ancestral homeland to establish a new household in order to marry. If the命宫 has a main star along with auspicious stars, and the stars are in their flourishing positions with favorable transformations, and there are also auspicious stars converging in the three sectors, this is an excellent destiny. If the命宫 lacks main stars and auspicious stars, but the three sectors have auspicious stars, this is a middle-level good destiny.

命宮星辰無吉無凶，或吉凶相伴者，如三方亦有中等星辰，為中格。及命宮星辰廟旺，三方有惡星守照破格。及命星陷背，加羊陀化忌，卻得十干祿元來相守化吉，亦為中等之命。若命無吉星，反有凶殺化忌無祿落陷，為下格之命。三方有吉星，亦可為中等，先小後大，不能久遠，終為成敗夭折論。若安命星躔陷地，又加凶殺化忌，三方又會羊陀火鈴空劫，為下格貧賤，二姓延生，奴僕之命，否則夭折六畜之命。

The stars in the命宫 are neither auspicious nor inauspicious, or they are mixed with both good and bad stars, and the three directions also contain only average stars. This is considered an average fate. Although the stars in the命宫 are strong and in their proper position, if the three directions are occupied by evil stars, this is called "breaking the pattern." If the stars in the命宫 are in a fallen position and lack proper placement, and are further accompanied by "Qingyang" and "Tuo Luo" along with the "Hua Ji," but there is exactly the "Lu Cun" from the person's birth year's heavenly stem that shares the命宫 and is in a favorable transformation, this is also considered an average fate. If there are no auspicious stars in the命宫, but instead there areInauspicious Sha and Hua Ji, and there is no Lu Star and the stars are in a fallen position, this is considered a lower fate. If such a fate has good stars in the three directions, it can still be considered average, but it will first have some success and then decline, and the prosperity will not last long. In the end, it must be judged according to the uncertainty of success and failure and the short lifespan. As for when the stars in the命宫 are in a fallen position, accompanied byInauspicious Sha and Hua Ji, and the three directions are all occupied by "Qingyang," "Tuo Luo," "Huo Xing," "Ling Xing," "Di Jie," and "Tian Kong," this is considered a very low fate of poverty and low status. Such a person may need to be adopted by another family to survive, and may have to be a servant or slave. Otherwise, they may die young, like domestic animals, and be at the mercy of others.

如命入格，廟旺聚吉，科權祿守，上上之命。不入廟加吉化，科權祿，上次之命。不入廟不加吉，為平常命。入廟不加吉，平等。若居陷地又加殺化忌，為下格之命，不以入格而論也。又入格不化吉而化凶，只以本命吉凶多寡而斷之。

A person's destiny chart aligns with a noble pattern, with stars in their prime, gathering auspicious stars, and having "Hua Ke," "Hua Quan," and "Hua Lu" guarding the命, this is the top-tier destiny. If the stars are not in their prime but combined with auspicious stars and have Hua Ke, Hua Quan, and Hua Lu, it is a middle-tier superior destiny. If the stars are neither in their prime nor combined with auspicious stars, it is an ordinary destiny. If the stars are in their prime but not combined with auspicious stars, it is only average. If the stars are in a declining position and combined with malevolent stars and Hua Ji, it is a lower-tier destiny, and it cannot be elevated by the concept of "entering the pattern." There is another situation: although the pattern is aligned, it transforms into malevolent rather than auspicious, in such cases, the judgment should be based on the number of auspicious and malevolent stars in the original destiny chart.

紫府與數相合何如？紫微南北斗中天帝主，天府乃南斗主。又看陰陽相伴者，看陰陽不相伴，又數不相生，為下格。陰陽純駁為中格。又三方四正皆吉星為上格。吉凶相伴守照為中格。凶星惡殺為下格兇徒論。

First, check whether the two main stars, 「Ziwei」 and 「Tianfu」, are compatible with the Five Phases Structure Number of the native's birth. 「Ziwei」 is the main star of the Southern Dipper, Northern Dipper, and the central throne. 「Tianfu」 is the main star of the Southern Dipper. Then check if yin and yang are compatible: if yin and yang are not compatible, and the Five Phases Structure Number does not generate with the stars, it is a low-ranking configuration. If yin and yang are compatible but mixed and impure, it is a medium-ranking configuration. If all three directions and four cardinal points are occupied by auspicious stars, it is a top-ranking configuration. If auspicious and inauspicious stars are mixed, with the stars either in the same palace or forming a conjunction, it is a medium-ranking configuration. If all are inauspicious stars and evil influences, it is considered a low-ranking configuration, indicating a violent and fierce person.

凡星得上格而數得上格為第一，位至極品之貴。凡星得上格而數得中格為第二，位至三公。星得上格而數得下格為第三，位至六卿。皆為上格上壽之人。星得中格而數得上格為第四，位至監司。星中數中為第五，位至縣令。星中敷下為第六，異路前程貴顯。皆得中等享福主人也。

Stars and celestial phenomena are considered superior quality, and the Five Phases structure number are also superior, ranking as the first class, with the potential to attain the highest official rank. If stars are superior but the structure number is medium, it ranks as the second class, with the potential to attain the rank of the Three Grand Ministers. If stars are superior but the structure number is inferior, it ranks as the third class, with the potential to attain the rank of the Six Ministers. These three classes are all considered superior patterns with long lifespans. If stars are medium but the structure number is superior, it ranks as the fourth class, with the potential to attain the rank of local officials at the level of supervisors. If stars are medium and the structure number is also medium, it ranks as the fifth class, with the potential to attain the rank of county magistrates. If stars are medium but the structure number is inferior (the original text "敷" refers to "number"), it ranks as the sixth class, with the potential to attain prominence through channels other than the imperial examination system. These three classes are all considered medium quality with good fortune.

又星得下格而數得上格為第七，衣祿豐足，富比陶朱，子孫蕃盛，壽享遐齡，以星雖凶而命入格合局故也，再否虛名虛利。星下數中為第八，衣食無虧。星下數下為第九，辛苦奔波，貧窮夭折。上中下三等，依理而斷，則上可以知祖宗之源，而下可以知子孫之盛衰也。

Stars are of the lower grade, while the Five Phases and Structure Number are of the higher grade, ranking as the seventh level: clothing, food, salary, and wealth are abundant, and wealth is comparable to that of Tao Zhu Gong Fan Li in the Spring and Autumn period. Descendants are numerous, and longevity is enjoyed. This is because although the stars may be malevolent, the birth chart has entered the pattern and combined with the structure. If it does not combine with the structure, then only empty fame and empty gains remain. Stars are of the lower grade and Structure Number is of the middle grade, ranking as the eighth level: clothing and food are not lacking. Stars are of the lower grade and Structure Number is also of the lower grade, ranking as the ninth level: one's life is full of hardship and toil, poor and short-lived. By applying this principle to the upper, middle, and lower grades, one can ascend to know the origins and foundations of ancestors, and descend to know the rise and fall of descendants.

男女命不同，星辰各別。男命先看身命，次看財帛宮祿遷移，俱要廟旺為吉，落陷聚凶為凶。三看福德，權祿劫空廟陷吉忌。又看田宅奴僕疾厄宮吉凶，吉凶已算於後。又看父母妻子三宮，俱有劫空殺忌則僧道之命，否則貧窮孤獨。須要仔細參詳，方可斷人禍福榮辱。

For male and female destinies, the emphasis differs, and the importance of different stars varies. For a male destiny, first examine the body palace and the命宫 (life palace), then the wealth palace, official palace, and migration palace. The stars in these palaces should be in a flourishing position to be auspicious; if they are in a declining position and gather maleficent stars, it will be inauspicious. Thirdly, examine the fortune virtue palace, looking at whether "化权" (conversion of authority), "化禄" (conversion of wealth), "地劫" (plunder malefic), and "天空" (star of emptiness) are in a flourishing or declining position, and whether they are auspicious or inauspicious. Then examine the fields palace, servant palace, and illness palace for their auspiciousness or inauspiciousness, with specific methods explained later. Finally, examine the parents, spouse, and children palaces. If all three havePlunder and Void (plunder and emptiness), it indicates a destiny of a monk or nun; if not, it suggests poverty and loneliness. One must carefully examine each palace to determine a person's fortune, misfortune, honor, and disgrace.

女命先看身命吉凶，如貪狼七殺擎羊則不美。次看福德宮吉凶，若七殺單居福德必為娼婢。三看夫君，四看子媳財帛田宅。若桃花刑殺要敗絕空亡為凶，若諸吉廟旺則佳，雖是艱辛貧困亦不為下濺夭折論。女因夫貴，女命貴格反為無用，以子媳夫君福德為正強。田宅財帛為次強。宮祿遷移七殺為陷。

For a female's fortune, first examine the body palace and the命宫 for auspicious or inauspicious signs. If these palaces are occupied by 「Tān láng」, 「Qī shā」, or 「Qíng yáng」, it is not favorable. Next, check the fortune virtue palace; according to old sayings, if the fortune virtue palace alone has 「Qī shā」, the woman will inevitably become a prostitute or a servant. Then examine the marriage palace, followed by the children, wealth, and property palaces. If the Taohua star and the刑煞 star are combined with the败地, 绝地, or Kongwang, it indicates misfortune. If many auspicious stars are in a strong position, it is a good fortune. Even if there are temporary difficulties and poverty, it should not be considered as a fate of lowly birth and early death. In the old times, a woman's status depended on her husband, so even if a woman has a noble destiny like a male's, it is not applicable. The most important palaces are the children, marriage, and fortune virtue palaces, followed by the property and wealth palaces. The official position and migration palaces, along with the 「Qī shā」 star, are considered unfavorable in a female's chart.

小兒博士力士上短下長，青龍將軍腮小頭圓。大耗鼻仰唇縮，死符病符聲高性雄。官府奏書逢惡曜落地無聲，白虎太歲遇七殺幼弱遭傷。須分生剋制化之垣，更看時祿衰敗之地，後觀關殺方知壽夭窮通。

When judging the destiny of a child, if the命宫 is occupied by「Doctor」and「Soldier」, the body is short in the upper part and long in the lower part; if occupied by「Azure Dragon」and「General」, the cheeks are small and the head is round; if encountering「Star of Great Expenditure」, the nostrils are upturned and the lips are inwardly contracted; if encountering「Death Symbol」and「Disease Symbol」, the crying is loud and the nature is strong; if「Government Office」and「Petition」meet with evil stars, the child cannot cry at birth; if「White Tiger」and「Age Star」meet with「General Star and Star of Severity」, the child is weak and easily injured. To judge the child's destiny, one must first distinguish the generation, overcoming, control, and transformation among the various palace stars, then examine the strength or decline of the birth hour's禄位, and finally check the various「obstacles and calamities」, in order to determine whether the child will live a long or short life, and whether his destiny is prosperous or difficult.

小兒初生，命中星辰廟旺，大小二限未行，斷其災少，易養，父母無克。若命坐惡殺及纏陷弱之地，大小二限未行，斷其災多，難養，刑剋父母。

When a child is just born, if the stars in his命宫 are strong and prosperous, and both the big limit and small limit have not yet started, he is likely to have few illnesses, be easy to raise, and not harm his parents. If the命宫 is occupied by evil stars, or if the stars are in weak or declining positions, even though the big and small limits have not yet started, he is likely to have many illnesses, be difficult to raise, and may harm his parents.

子午卯酉單頂門，或偏左邊二三分，寅申巳亥亦單頂，偏居右去始為真，辰戌丑未是雙頂，胞胎受定正時辰。又：子午卯酉面向天，寅申巳亥側身眠，辰戌丑未臉伏地，臨盆當試用心堅。

To determine the time of birth by observing the shape of a newborn's head: those born at子, 午, 卯, or 酉 times have a single hair whorl on their head, slightly to the left by about two or three inches. Those born at 寅, 申, 巳, or 亥 times also have a single whorl, but it should be slightly to the right. Those born at 辰, 戌, 丑, or 未 times have two whorls — this is determined in the womb. There is also a rule: infants born at 子, 午, 卯, or 酉 times lie on their backs facing up; those born at 寅, 申, 巳, or 亥 times lie on their sides; and those born at 辰, 戌, 丑, or 未 times lie face down. During childbirth, one may carefully observe this.

凡男女生在寅午戌申子辰六陽時，安命在此六宮者吉。生在巳酉丑亥卯未六陰時，安命在此六宮者吉。反此則少遂。

Those born in the Yang hours of寅, 午, 戌, 申, 子, and 辰 have their destiny palace located in these six palace positions, which is auspicious. Those born in the Yin hours of 巳, 酉, 丑, 亥, 卯, and 未 have their destiny palace located in these six palace positions, which is also auspicious. If the Yin and Yang are opposite to the palace positions, their lives will be seldom smooth.

如人生子亥二時最難定準，要仔細推祥。如子時有十刻，上午刻屬昨夜亥時，下午刻屬今日子時。如天氣陰雨之際，必須羅經以定真確時候，若差訛則命不准矣。

A person's life is most difficult to determine accurately during the Zi and Hai hours. One must carefully examine and calculate. The Zi hour consists of ten parts, with the first half still belonging to the previous night's Hai hour, and the second half belonging to the current day's Zi hour. If it is rainy and there is no sunlight to see the shadow, one must use a compass to determine the exact time. If the hour is even slightly wrong, the destiny chart will be inaccurate.

如寅午巳酉生人，見辰戍丑未時最毒，子申亥卯生人次之。若寅亥巳生人，見午申酉亥時，主先克父，出十六歲則不妨。若辰巳丑未生人，見子午卯巳亥申酉時生者，主先克母。

Those born in the years of Yin, Wu, Si, and You, if born at the hours of Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei, will experience the heaviest punishments and conflicts. Those born in the years of Zi, Shen, Hai, and Mao will experience slightly lighter punishments. Those born in the years of Yin, Hai, and Si, if born at the hours of Wu, Shen, You, or Hai, will primarily suffer from the loss of their father, but after the age of sixteen, there will be no further problems. Those born in the years of Chen, Si, Chou, and Wei, if born at the hours of Zi, Wu, Mao, Si, Hai, Shen, or You, will primarily suffer from the loss of their mother.

人生於富貴之家，一生快樂享福，財官顯達，妻榮子貴，奴僕成行，聲名昭著。其間有半途遭傷，人離財散，官非火盜，身喪家亡，此等之命非命也。是限步逢大小二限及太歲相沖照，又加凶殺守臨，故此破敗，不貧即損壽也。所謂先成後敗，先大後小也。

Some are born into wealthy families, enjoying a life of comfort and prosperity, with wealth and official positions flourishing, their wives honored, sons esteemed, servants numerous, and their reputation spreading far and wide. Yet among them, some meet with difficulties along the way: family members scatter, wealth is exhausted, lawsuits arise, fires or thefts occur, and even death and family ruin follow. This is not due to their destiny being inherently so, but rather because during their lifetime, the major and minor periods, along with the current year's heavenly stem, clash with each other, and malevolent stars occupy their palace and govern their time, leading to decline. They either become poor or lose their lives prematurely. This is called first success then failure, first great fortune then small.

又有人命出身微賤，營活生計，百工巧藝，九流醫術，又為農圃等輩，初歷艱辛度日。卻仍中末平地升騰，發財驚駭鄉邦，因生在中庸之局，後因限步相扶，星辰逢吉曜兼廟旺，以此突然發達進祿。所謂先貧後富，先小後大是也。

Some people are born into humble circumstances, making a living through their skills, working as various craftsmen or engaging in the arts of medicine and divination, or tilling the land and growing vegetables, struggling through early years. However, by middle or old age, they suddenly rise to prosperity, accumulating wealth that astonishes the entire village or district. This is because their original destiny was of moderate fortune, but later they encountered favorable fortune, and the stars in the positions they occupied were both auspicious and in their prime, leading to sudden success and wealth. This is called first poverty then wealth, first small then great.

如宮分星纏全吉廟旺得地，無擎羊陀羅火鈴空劫者，主十年安靜，人財全美。若限內有擎羊陀羅火鈴空劫忌星為伴，成敗不一。如宮分星纏陷地，值擎羊陀羅火鈴空劫忌，又加流年惡殺湊合，及小限巡逢凶殺，則官災死亡立見。大限將出，有吉眾者無災悔，少者災多，損人破財不利。

When the major period is in a palace where all the stars are auspicious and in their prime condition, without the malefics such as 'Qingyang', 'Tuo Luo', 'Huoxing', 'Lingxing', 'Dijie', and 'Tiankong', this decade will be peaceful and quiet, with people and wealth all complete. If these malefics and 'Hua Ji' are present in the period, success and failure will be uncertain. If the stars in the major period palace are in decline, and at the same time 'Qingyang', 'Tuo Luo', 'Huoxing', 'Lingxing', 'Di Jie', 'Tiankong' and 'Hua Ji' are present, and the evil stars of the current year also gather together, then when the minor period passes, encountering evil stars will immediately lead to lawsuits or even death. When the major period is nearly over, those with many auspicious stars will have no misfortune or regret, while those with few auspicious stars will face more misfortune, leading to loss of people, expenditure of wealth, and all affairs being unfavorable.

凡行至寅申巳亥子午宮，遇紫微天府天同太陽太陰昌曲祿存祿主吉星，主人財興旺，添丁進口之慶。行至辰戍丑未卯酉，遇惡殺廉貞天使羊陀火鈴空劫忌星，主人酒色荒迷，貧乏死生。遇左右昌曲，仕宦遷官加職，士民生子發財，婦人喜事，僧道亦利，商賈得益。

Whenever the destiny path reaches the palace of寅, 申, 巳, 亥, 子, or 午, encountering the auspicious stars such as The Emperor star, Treasury star and command star, Star of blessings, Star of brightness and prestige, Wealth star and mother star, Star of examinations and documents, Star of talent and eloquence, and Wealth-salary star indicates prosperity in both people and wealth, with the joy of adding new members to the family. However, when the destiny path reaches the palace of 辰, 戌, 丑, 未, 卯, or 酉 and encounters malevolent stars such as 廉贞, Star of the messenger of illness, Malefic of injury, Malefic of delay and entanglement, Malefic of violence, Hidden-fire malefic, Plunder malefic, Star of emptiness, and 化忌, it signifies indulgence in alcohol and pleasures, poverty and hardship, and even reaching a critical point of life and death. If encountering Auxiliary auspicious star, Auxiliary auspicious star, Star of examinations and documents, or Star of talent and eloquence, officials will be promoted and receive higher positions, scholars and common people will have children and gain wealth, women will have good news, and monks and Taoists will have smooth progress. Merchants will make profits.

凡大小二限及太歲，怕行天傷天使夾地，怕行天空地劫之地，怕行擎羊陀羅之地，及羊陀沖照，怕脫凶限，怕逢凶限，又怕傷使劫空羊陀並夾歲限。如天傷在子，天使在寅，歲限在丑宮，乃並夾也。羊陀守命尚且無用，況夾限乎？若逃得過須看壽星，紫微天同天梁貪狼坐命可解。更須看月值惡殺，日值惡殺，加湊大小歲月日時五者參詳吉凶推斷。

The greatest fears in the great limit, small limit, and annual master are encountering a palace occupied by "Tian Shang" and "Tian Shi" together, or a palace occupied by "Tian Kong" and "Di Jie," or a palace occupied by "Qing Yang" and "Tuo Luo," or being afflicted by the conflict of "Yang" and "Tuo." It is also feared to just escape from a bad limit, or to be in a bad limit, or to have "Shang," "Shi," "Jie," "Kong," "Yang," and "Tuo" all converging on the annual master and the current limit. For example, if "Tian Shang" is in the Zi palace and "Tian Shi" is in the Yin palace, while the current annual master and limit fall in the Chou palace, this is called being "converged and enclosed." Even if "Yang" and "Tuo" are only guarding the命宫, it is already ineffective, let alone if the current limit is enclosed between them. To pass through this situation safely, one must also look at the longevity star — if the命宫 is occupied by "Zi Wei," "Tian Tong," "Tian Liang," or "Tan Lang," it can resolve the issue. Additionally, one must check whether the current month is occupied by evil stars, and whether the current day is occupied by evil stars. Only by combining the great limit, small limit, annual master, month, day, and hour can one accurately determine the fortune's outcome.

太歲行至奏書將軍直符天使天傷羊陀火鈴空劫忌星，逢一二位，主人離財散，疾病哭泣之兆。若歲限犯重月日一二位，又逢忌星合者，官吏遭謫，常人遭橫事，婦人損胎，病者死亡。若惡殺在不得地，如風雨暴過。若歲限臨無吉星，命中無救，其年難過必死。

When the current year's Tai Sui (Year Master) arrives at positions marked by 'Zoushu' (Petition), 'Jiangjun' (General), 'Zhi Fu' (Direct Symbol), 'Tianshang' (Star of Depletion and Injury), 'Tianshi' (Messenger of Illness), 'Qingyang' (Malefic of Injury), 'Tuo Luo' (Malefic of Delay and Entanglement), 'Huoxing' (Malefic of Violence), 'Lingxing' (Hidden-Fire Malefic), 'Dijie' (Plunder Malefic), 'Tiankong' (Star of Emptiness), and the position of Huaji (Malignant Influence), encountering even one or two of these stars indicates family separation, loss of wealth, and is a premonition of illness and sorrow. If the current year and the current limit (personal limit) overlap and conflict, and if the Month Builder and Day Branch also occupy one or two of these positions, and Huaji joins in, then officials may be demoted, ordinary people may suffer sudden misfortune, pregnant women may miscarry, and the sick may die. If these malevolent stars fall in unfavorable positions, their effects will be like a sudden storm, passing quickly. If the current year's limit falls on a palace with no beneficial stars, and the native has no rescuing stars, then this year will be hard to survive, inevitably leading to death.

須詳大限獨守吉凶何如，小限獨守吉凶何如，太歲獨守吉凶何如。如歲限俱凶則凶。又看大限與小限相逢吉凶何如，大限逢太歲吉凶何如，小限逢太歲吉凶何如，禍福所定。又看太歲沖大限小限，太歲沖羊陀七殺，然後可斷吉凶。

One must examine separately whether the great limit is auspicious or inauspicious, whether the small limit is auspicious or inauspicious, and whether the current year's sovereign is auspicious or inauspicious. If both the sovereign and the current limit are inauspicious, then it is judged as inauspicious. Then one must look at how auspicious or inauspicious the great limit and small limit are when they meet, how auspicious or inauspicious the great limit is when it meets the sovereign, and how auspicious or inauspicious the small limit is when it meets the sovereign. The fortune and misfortune are thus determined. Finally, one must also check whether the sovereign conflicts with the great limit, the small limit, or with 'Qingyang', 'Tuo Luo', and 'Qishash' to determine the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness.

陽男陰女南斗為福，陰男陽女北斗為福。北斗諸星吉凶，大限斷上五年應，小限斷上半年應。南斗諸星吉凶，大限斷下五年應，小限斷下半年應。

A man born in a yang year and a woman born in a yin year take the stars of the Southern Dipper as their auspicious stars. A man born in a yin year and a woman born in a yang year take the stars of the Northern Dipper as their auspicious stars. The fortune of the stars in the Northern Dipper is reflected in the first five years of the large limit and the first half year of the small limit. The fortune of the stars in the Southern Dipper is reflected in the last five years of the large limit and the latter half year of the small limit.

凡太歲看三方對照星辰吉凶何如，以定禍福。太歲在命宮行者禍福尤緊。如命在子宮太歲到子，又癸生人逢吉則吉，逢凶則凶。

When examining the current year's heavenly stem and earthly branch, one should look at the auspicious or inauspicious stars in the three directions corresponding to it, to determine the fortune or misfortune of the year. If the current year's heavenly stem and earthly branch exactly aligns with the native's命宫, the fortune or misfortune will be particularly significant. For example, if the native's命宫 is in the Zi position and the current year's heavenly stem and earthly branch also falls in Zi, and the native was born in the Gui year, then if an auspicious star appears in that year, it will be auspicious; if a malevolent star appears, it will be inauspicious.

陰騰延壽生百福，雖然倒限不遭傷。假如有人大小二限及太歲到凶陷地，有延過壽去不死者，乃是其人曾行陰騰，平日利物濟人，反身修德，以作善降福，雖凶不害。如宋郊編荻橋渡蟻是也。又如諸葛亮火燒藤甲軍，傷人太毒減壽一紀。當以此參詳。

Accumulating Yin Virtue can prolong one's life and generate various blessings. Even if one reaches a critical limit, they will not suffer harm. The original text refers to 「yin teng」 as 「yin zhi」, meaning accumulating virtue in secret. If someone's destiny, minor limit, and annual star all reach dangerous and declining positions, yet they survive beyond their lifespan, it is because they have previously accumulated Yin Virtue — benefiting all things, helping others, self-cultivating virtue, and performing good deeds to receive heavenly blessings. Therefore, even when encountering danger, they are not harmed. A famous example is Song Jiao, who used reed grass to build a bridge to rescue ants, later becoming a top scholar. Conversely, Zhuge Liang in the Three Kingdoms period burned the Tengjia soldiers, causing excessive cruelty, thus shortening his life by twelve years. When determining fate, this aspect should be considered together.

如庚年生人，命在卯宮，遷移在酉宮。如遇羊陀，流年亦庚祿居申，流羊在酉，流陀在未，是命在卯宮原有酉宮擎羊沖合，流年又遇流羊流陀，謂之羊陀迭並。

For example, someone born in the year of Geng will have their命宫 in the Mao palace, and their迁移宫 in the You palace. In their natal chart, they encounter 「擎羊」 and 「陀罗」. When the flow year is also Geng, the 「禄存」 of the flow year falls in the Shen palace. Thus, the flow year's 「擎羊」 is in the You palace, and the flow year's 「陀罗」 is in the Wei palace. The natal命宫 is in the Mao palace, which originally is affected by the You palace's 「擎羊」. The flow year also encounters flow 「擎羊」 and flow 「陀罗」, which is called 「羊陀迭并」.

如命中三合原有七殺守照，而流年又遇流羊流陀沖照凶，七殺重逢，二者為禍最毒。入廟災晦減輕，如陷地逢忌及卯酉遇擎羊為閒宮，午生人不利也。然七殺逢吉曜眾亦轉凶化吉，不可一概論凶。擎羊陀羅七殺逢紫微天相祿存三合拱照可解。

If the native's chart already has the "Seven Killers" star guarding or illuminating the命宫, and the current year also encounters the flowing "Malefic of Injury" and "Malefic of Delay and Entanglement" conflicting with it, this is called "Seven Killers Reunion," which is the most harmful combination. When "Seven Killers" is in its proper position, the misfortune can be reduced. However, if it is in a declining position and also meets the transformed忌, or if it is in the卯 or酉 palace and encounters "Malefic of Injury" in an idle palace, it is especially unfavorable for those born in the午 year. However, if "Seven Killers" is combined with many auspicious stars, it can turn misfortune into good fortune and should not be universally judged as harmful. If "Malefic of Injury," "Malefic of Delay and Entanglement," and "Seven Killers" are supported by "The Emperor Star," "Seal Star and Star of Livelihood," and "Wealth-Salary Star" in the Triple Harmony position, the danger can be resolved.

詩曰：羊陀迭並命難逃，七殺重逢禍必遭，太歲二限臨此地，十生九死不堅牢。

There is a poem that says: When the flowing year's Yang Tu and the native's Yang Tu meet and overlap, life and death are hard to escape; the "Seven Killers" meet again, calamity is certain to come; the flowing year's Tai Sui and the great limit and small limit also arrive at this palace position, out of ten lives, nine will die, and life and death are no longer secure.

人生子命忌寅申：假如子年生人切忌寅申歲限，災晦至重，及忌子午歲限相沖。丑午生人丑午瞋：假如丑年生人忌午丑歲限，午生人亦忌丑午歲限，及忌七殺星，災晦極重。寅卯之人防巳亥：假如寅卯人忌巳亥歲限，及忌卯酉寅申相沖。

The mnemonic says "a person born in the year of Zi should avoid the limits of Yin and Shen": people born in the year of Zi should avoid the limits of Yin and Shen in the flowing years, which bring extreme misfortune, and also avoid the limits of Zi and Wu that clash. The mnemonic says "a person born in the year of Chou should avoid Chou and Wu": people born in the year of Chou should avoid the limits of Chou and Wu in the flowing years, and people born in the year of Wu should also avoid the limits of Chou and Wu, and also avoid encountering "Seven Killers", which bring extreme misfortune. The mnemonic says "those born in the year of Yin or Mao should avoid Si and Hai": people born in the year of Yin or Mao should avoid the limits of Si and Hai in the flowing years, and also avoid the clashes between Mao and You, and between Yin and Shen.

龍蛇切忌本身臨：假如巳生人忌逢巳年及忌行到巳限、辰生人忌行辰年又忌行到辰限為天羅，又忌行到戌為地網，限遇此災晦疾厄之險，官非破財憂制連連矣。申人鈴火災殃重：假如申生人忌逢火鈴二星，必主災晦至重，及忌寅年沖。未遇豬雞墓患殷：假如未生人忌逢酉戌歲限，又忌見擎羊在四墓宮。

The mnemonic says "Dragon and Snake should avoid being in the same position": people born in the Year of Snake should avoid encountering the Year of Snake, and also avoid having their life limit reach the Snake's palace. People born in the Year of Dragon should avoid encountering the Year of Dragon, and also avoid having their life limit reach the Dragon's palace, because Dragon is "Tianluo" and also avoid reaching the Dog's palace, as Dog is "Diwang". When the life limit encounters these positions, there is danger of calamity and illness, followed by lawsuits, financial loss, and continuous worries and restrictions. The mnemonic says "People born in the Year of Monkey suffer severe disasters from Fire and Bell Stars": people born in the Year of Monkey should avoid encountering the "Malefic of Violence" and "Hidden-fire Malefic" stars, which will certainly bring about extreme calamity, and also avoid encountering the Year of Rat, which conflicts with the Year of Monkey. The mnemonic says "People born in the Year of Goat suffer grave troubles when encountering Pig and Rooster": people born in the Year of Goat should avoid having their life limit reach the Rooster's or Dog's palace, and also avoid the "Malefic of Injury" star being in the four墓宫 (burial palaces) of Dragon, Dog, Ox, and Sheep.

戌亥羊陀須避忌：假如戌亥生人忌遇羊陀災重，戌生人又行到戍宮歲限為地網，又忌行到辰宮歲限為天羅，謂之辰戌相沖不美。酉人陀刃亦非親：假如酉生人亦忌羊陀歲限及忌行卯宮限，及卯年歲君相沖。

The mnemonic says "Xu Hai Yang Tu must be avoided": people born in the Xu year or Hai year should avoid encountering "Malefic of injury" and "Malefic of delay and entanglement." If they meet these, they will suffer serious misfortune. Those born in the Xu year should also avoid going to the Xu palace when entering their life cycle, as Xu is "Diwang" (earth net), and they should also avoid going to the Chen palace, as Chen is "Tianluo" (heavenly net). This is the conflict between Chen and Xu, which is very inauspicious. The mnemonic also says "You person Tu Ren is not close": people born in the You year should also avoid encountering "Malefic of delay and entanglement" and "Malefic of injury" in the flow years and life cycles. They should also avoid going to the Mao palace during their life cycle, as well as the Mao year's Tai sui (sovereign star) coming to clash.

豬犬生人莫遇蛇，辰戍切忌到網羅，預先整頓衣冠木，未免生人唱輓歌。

Those born in the亥 or戌 years should avoid encountering the巳 year or the巳 limit; those born in the辰 or戌 years must strictly avoid entering the "Tianluo" and "Diwang" sectors. If they do reach that point, they can only prepare a shroud and coffin in advance, and the living family members will inevitably have to sing funeral songs.

金人遇坎命須傷，木命落離有禍殃，水遇艮宮應蹇滯，火來兌上禍難藏，土到東南逢震巽，須防膿血及驚慌，縱然吉曜相逢照，未免官災鬧一場。

People with a metal destiny who encounter the Kan position, which is the northern water land, will suffer injuries to their life force. Those with a wood destiny who reach the Li position, which is the southern fire land, will face calamities. Those with a water destiny who meet the Gen position, which is the northeast land, will face obstructions everywhere. Those with a fire destiny who arrive at the Dui position, which is the western metal land, will have troubles that are hard to hide. Those with a earth destiny who reach the Zhen and Xun positions in the southeast, which are wood lands, should be cautious of diseases and unexpected frights. Even if auspicious stars are present, they will still have to deal with legal disputes.

依此判斷其人行年災患應如神。子年太歲並小限到子宮入廟化吉：七殺破軍在子宮守歲限，癸庚己生人發福；巨門天機，乙癸生人發福；天府天相天梁，丁己庚人財旺遂心；又天同，丙丁生人財官雙美。子年太歲並小限到子宮不入廟化凶：紫微在子宮守命及歲限，丙戊生人悔吝，破財災殃。子年太歲所值吉凶星：祿存天機天同太陰昌曲輔弼破軍天相廉真武曲天府巨門七殺，可斷其年人財兩美，事事遂心。若遇貪狼紫微天梁忌星太陽擎羊，便斷人財耗散孝服，本身災晦不寧，減半論之。

When determining the misfortunes of a person's annual cycle, the results are accurate and divine. If the Tai Sui (Heavenly Sovereign) of the Zi year and the small limit reach the Zi palace, and the stars are in their proper position (in temple), leading to favorable outcomes: if "Qixia" and "Pojun" are in the Zi palace during the annual cycle, those born in the Gui, Geng, and Ji years will experience good fortune; if "Jumen" and "Tianji" are there, those born in the Yi and Gui years will prosper; if "Tianfu," "Tianxiang," and "Tianliang" are present, those born in the Ding, Ji, and Geng years will have wealth and satisfaction; if "Tiantong" is there, those born in the Bing and Ding years will have both wealth and official success. If the Tai Sui of the Zi year and the small limit reach the Zi palace, but the stars are not in their proper position and instead turn to malevolent influences: if "Ziwei" is in the Zi palace and also meets the annual cycle, those born in the Bing and Wu years will face many regrets, financial loss, and misfortunes. As for the auspicious and inauspicious stars encountered during the Zi year Tai Sui: if the stars are "Luchun," "Tianji," "Tiantong," "Taiyin," "Wenchang," "Wenqu," "Zuofu," "Youbi," "Pojun," "Tianxiang," "Lianzhen," "Wuqu," "Tianfu," "Jumen," or "Qixia," it can be predicted that the person will have both prosperity in family and wealth, and everything will go smoothly. If the stars are in their proper position (in temple), they bring good fortune: The star Tian Ji (Star of Wisdom and Adaptability) governing the Ox mansion brings prosperity to those born in the years of Bing and Xin; the star Tian Xiang (Seal Star and Star of Livelihood) brings prosperity to those born in the year of Wu; the stars Tai Yin (Wealth Star and Mother Star) and Wu Qu (Wealth Star and General Star) bring prosperity to those born in the years of Bing and Wu; the stars Tian Fu (Treasury Star and Command Star) and Lian Zhen (Dark Star and Star of Speech) bring prosperity to those born in the year of Wu; the star Tian Liang (Shelter Star and Longevity Star) brings prosperity to those born in the years of Bing, Wu, and Xin. The stars associated with the Year of the Ox that bring good fortune are: Purple Wei (Emperor Star), Tian Xiang, Tian Liang, Tai Yin, Tian Fu, Lu Cun (Wealth-Salary Star), Lian Zhen, Po Jun (Expenditure Star and Vanguard Star), Wen Chang (Star of Examinations and Documents), Wen Qu (Star of Talent and Eloquence), Tian Ji, Zuo Fu (Auxiliary Auspicious Star), and You Bi (Auxiliary Auspicious Star). The stars 「Taiyin」, 「Taiyang」, and 「Tianji」 in the Chen palace bring misfortune to those born in the years of Jia, Yi, Wu, and Ji. The auspicious and inauspicious stars affecting the Year of the Dragon: if the year encounters 「Taiyang」, 「Tianji」, 「Tianliang」, 「Qishan」, 「Tanlang」, 「Wenchang」, 「Zuofu」, and 「Youbi」, it is predicted that this year will bring great advancement in wealth and fortune, the family will flourish, there will be new births, and continuous joy in marriage and celebrations. If the heavenly stem for the year of Si is connected with the small limit to the Si palace but the stars are not in their proper position, bringing misfortune: "Jumen" and "Tanlang" are here, causing disputes for those born in the years of Gui and Bing; "Taiyin" and "Pojun" are here, leading to various troubles. The auspicious and inauspicious stars associated with the year of Si: if "Ziwei," "Taiyang," "Tiantong," "Tianfu," "Tianliang," and "Luchun" are encountered, it indicates that the year will be favorable for family and wealth, with many joyful events; if "Wuqu," "Lianzhen," "Taiyin," "Tanlang," "Jumen," "Tianxiang," "Pojun," and the afflicted stars are encountered, it indicates that the year will bring loss of wealth and property, legal disputes, illness, and the effects will be halved.
