論安命金鎖鐵蛇關。當從戌上起子年，順數行年月逆推，日又順數時逆轉，小兒壽夭可先知。此法從戌上起年順行至本生年，年上起月逆數至本生月，月上起日，月上起時，逆至本生時遇丑未宮病有救，辰戌宮死。

The method for determining the "Golden Lock and Iron Snake Gate" is discussed. The rhyme says: start from the Xu palace for the Zi year, and count forward in order for the birth year. For the month, count backward; for the day, count forward again; and for the hour, count backward once more. In this way, the length of the child's life can be predicted in advance. The specific method is: start from the Xu palace and count forward to the birth year. From the palace where the birth year falls, count backward to the birth month. Then, from the palace where the birth month falls, count forward again for the day, and count backward to the birth hour. If it falls in the Chou or Wei palace, there is still a chance of recovery from illness. If it falls in the Chen or Xu palace, it indicates a short life.

定男女竹蘿三限。法曰同前帝皇局例，只是逆行以上此二數逆排定，只托三方四正七殺破軍俱作竹蘿三限，若再加巨暗凶星便作三方四正定議，若大小二限相遇作死限斷。

The method of determining male and female using the "Zhu Luo San Xian" is the same as the "Di Huang Ju" system, but it is applied in reverse order. Both methods mentioned above are determined by reversing the sequence. If the "Qi Sha" and "Po Jun" are gathered within the three aspects and four cardinal points, they are considered as "Zhu Luo San Xian." If "Ju Men," a dark and malevolent star, is also present, then the three aspects and four cardinal points should be considered. If both the large limit and the small limit coincide here, it should be treated as a death limit.

定十二宮弱強。男命 財帛、官祿、福德、遷移、田宅為強宮，子女、奴僕、兄弟、父母為弱宮。女命 夫君、子息、財帛、田宅、福德為強，餘宮皆弱。

Determine the strength of the twelve houses. For a male's chart: the Wealth House, Official Career House, Fortune Virtue House, Migration House, and Domestic Affairs House are strong houses; the Children House, Servants House, Brothers House, and Parents House are weak houses. For a female's chart: the Spouse House (husband), Children House (children), Wealth House, Domestic Affairs House, and Fortune Virtue House are strong houses; all other houses are considered weak.

定十二宮星辰落閒。紫微在子辰亥為閒宮，貪狼在寅辰為閒宮，天相在辰戌為閒宮，七殺在辰亥為閒宮，天梁在巳酉為閒宮，天機在巳為閒宮，破軍在巳申為閒宮，武曲在申為閒宮。

In determining when stars fall into the "idle palace" (a place of no action), the following cases are considered idle: "Ziwei" (The Emperor star) in the Zi, Chen, and Hai palaces; "Tanlang" (Star of romance and desire) in the Yin and Chen palaces; "Tianxiang" (Seal star and star of livelihood) in the Chen and Xu palaces; "Qishan" (General star and star of severity) in the Chen and Hai palaces; "Tianliang" (Shelter star and longevity star) in the Si and You palaces; "Tianji" (Star of wisdom and adaptability) in the Si palace; "Pojun" (Expenditure star and vanguard star) in the Si and Shen palaces; "Wuqu" (Wealth star and general star) in the Shen palace.

安流祿流羊流陀訣 論流年太歲。假如己丑流年流祿在午、流羊在未、流陀在巳，如甲子生人安命巳，小限又行在亥，小限擎羊。

The method for placing "flowing fortune," "flowing malefic of injury," and "flowing affliction" is based on the current year's supreme ruler. For example, in the year Jichou, the fortune of the Jichou heavenly stem is in the Wu palace, so the flowing fortune is in the Wu palace, the flowing malefic of injury is in the preceding palace Wei, and the flowing affliction is in the following palace Si. Another example is someone born in the year Jiazi. Their native palace is in the Si palace, and if their small limit moves to the Hai palace, then the flowing malefic of injury should be calculated according to the small limit's malefic of injury.

論星辰生剋制化。星曜全明生剋制化之機，次看落於何宮，如廉真屬火在寅宮，乃木鄉能生廉真之火，若武曲金星與廉真同度，則武曲為財而無用也，餘仿此。

Discussing the interactions among stars involves first understanding the principles of generation, overcoming, control, and transformation. Then, one should examine where the stars are located in the palace. For example, the star 'Lianzhen' belongs to the fire element. If it is located in the寅 palace, which belongs to the wood element, the wood element can support the fire element of Lianzhen, making it a favorable environment for Lianzhen. At this time, if the 'Wuqu' star, which is a metal star, is in the same palace as Lianzhen, the fire will overcome the metal, and thus the 'Wuqu' star, which is a wealth star, will not be effective. Other situations should be analyzed in the same way.

金入火鄉 火入水鄉 水入土鄉 土入木鄉 俱為受制

When metal enters a palace of fire, fire enters a palace of water, water enters a palace of earth, and earth enters a palace of wood, these situations all belong to being restrained and losing strength.

論諸星分屬南北斗化吉凶並分屬五行。紫微屬土，中天星，南北斗化帝座，為官祿主。天機屬木，南斗化善，為兄弟主。祿存屬土，北斗司爵貴壽星。太陽屬火，南北斗化貴，為官祿主。天同屬水金，南斗化福，為福德主。

The stars are classified under the Southern and Northern Constellations, their transformed auspicious or inauspicious influences, and their Five Phases affiliations. "Ziwei" belongs to the Earth Phase, is the central star, and in the Southern and Northern Constellations transforms into the Imperial Seat, governing official rank, and is the master of official rank. "Tianji" belongs to the Wood Phase, is a star of the Southern Constellation, and transforms into "goodness," governing siblings, and is the master of siblings. "Luchun" belongs to the Earth Phase, is a star of the Northern Constellation, governing titles, and is the star of wealth, honor, and longevity. "Taiyang" belongs to the Fire Phase, and in the Southern and Northern Constellations transforms into "honor," governing official rank, and is the master of official rank. "Tiantong" belongs to the Water Phase and also the Metal Phase, is a star of the Southern Constellation, transforms into "blessing," governing fortune and virtue, and is the master of fortune and virtue.

廉真屬火，北斗化殺囚，在官祿為官祿主，在身命為次桃花。武曲屬金，北斗化財，為財帛主。天府屬土，南斗化令星，為財帛田宅主。太陰屬水，南北斗化富，為財帛田宅主。貪狼屬水木，北斗化桃花殺，主禍福。

"Lianzhen" belongs to the Fire element, is a star of the Big Dipper, and its transformed energy is "kill" and "imprisonment"; when it falls in the official position宫, it governs official positions and is the master of official positions; when it falls in the body palace or birth palace, it is a secondary type of Taohua star. "Wuqu" belongs to the Metal element, is a star of the Big Dipper, and its transformed energy is "wealth", governing wealth. "Jumu" belongs to the Water element, is a star of the Big Dipper, and its derived energy is "darkness," governing matters of disputes and verbal conflicts. "Tianxiang" belongs to the Water element, is a star of the Southern Dipper, and its derived energy is "seal," governing official positions andofficial stipend. "Tianliang" belongs to the Earth element, is a star of the Southern Dipper, and its derived energy is "protection," governing longevity, and is considered a longevity star. "Qishash" belongs to both Fire and Metal elements, is a star descending from the Southern Dipper, and when it meets the Ziwēi Emperor star, it transforms into authority. The star "Wenchang" belongs to the Metal element and oversees academic ranks in both the Northern and Southern Celestial Mansions, being the leading star of literature. The star "Wenqu" belongs to the Water element and is a star in the Northern Celestial Mansion, responsible for academic ranks. The stars "Zuofu" and "Youbi" are both in the Northern Celestial Mansion and are stars that issue commands for good deeds. The above eighteen stars from "Ziwei" to "Zuofu" and "Youbi" are all the principal stars of the Northern and Southern Celestial Mansions. The stars "Tiankui," "Tianyue," and "Tianma," although also auspicious stars, are not included among the principal stars.

魁鉞二星屬火。天馬屬火。擎羊屬金，北斗浮星，化刑。陀羅屬金，北斗助星，化忌。火星屬火，南斗助星。鈴星屬火，南斗助星。天空地劫屬火。天殤天使屬水。

The stars "Heavenly Benefactor" and "Earthly Benefactor" belong to the Fire element. "Star of Movement" also belongs to Fire. "Malefic of Injury" belongs to Metal and is a floating star of the Big Dipper, with a transformative energy of "punishment." "Malefic of Delay and Entanglement" belongs to Metal and is an auxiliary star of the Big Dipper, with a transformative energy of "avoidance." "Chemical Wealth" belongs to the Earth element and prefers to meet with "Wealth-Salary Star." "Chemical Authority" belongs to the Wood element and prefers to meet with "Dark Star" and "Wealth Star and General Star." "Chemical Academic Achievement" belongs to the Water element and prefers to meet with "Yang Benefactor" and "Yin Benefactor." "Chemical Obstruction" belongs to the Water element, which is also known as "Ji Du Star." "Hongluan" and "Tianxi" both belong to the Water element. The current year's sovereign (annual master) belongs to the Fire element.

博士屬水主聰明 力士屬火主權勢 青龍屬木主喜氣 大小耗屬火小耗錢財大耗退祖 將軍屬木主威猛欠合 奏書屬金主福祿

The "Doctor" belongs to the Water element and oversees human intelligence and wisdom. "Forceful Warrior" belongs to the Fire element and oversees power and authority. "Azure Dragon" belongs to the Wood element and oversees auspicious energy. Both "Great Expenditure" and "Minor Expenditure" belong to the Fire element: "Minor Expenditure" signifies financial loss, while "Great Expenditure" signifies the decline of ancestral fortune. "General" belongs to the Wood element and signifies strength but lacks harmony. "Petition Officer" belongs to the Metal element and signifies good fortune and salary.

飛廉屬火主孤 喜神屬火主喜氣 伏兵屬火主口舌 病符主病 官府主官符 喪門木 弔客火 白虎金 官符火

Fēilían belongs to the Five Phases of fire and signifies solitude. Xǐshén belongs to fire and signifies auspicious energy. Fúbīng belongs to fire and signifies disputes and slander. Bingfú signifies illness. Guānfǔ signifies legal matters and official documents. Sāngmén belongs to wood, Dòukè belongs to fire, Bái hǔ belongs to metal, and Guānfú belongs to fire.

坎水宮中二歲行，初一起丑初二寅，順行一宮安二日，陰陽雖殊行則同。

This is a mnemonic for placing the "Ziwei" star in the second Water Bureau. "Kan" in the Eight Trigrams belongs to water, so "Kan Water Palace" refers to the second Water Bureau. "Two years" indicates that the structure number is two, and each palace contains two days. For anyone whose destiny belongs to the second Water Bureau, those born on the first day of the month place Ziwei in the Chou Palace, those born on the second day place it in the Yin Palace, and from then on, starting from Yin Palace, they proceed clockwise in the order of Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao. Each palace is assigned two days: the second and third days in Yin, the fourth and fifth in Mao, the sixth and seventh in Chen, the eighth and ninth in Si, the tenth and eleventh in Wu, the twelfth and thirteenth in Wei, the fourteenth and fifteenth in Shen, the sixteenth and seventeenth in You, the eighteenth and nineteenth in Xu, the twentieth and twenty-first in Hai, the twenty-second and twenty-third in Zi, the twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth in Chou, the twenty-sixth and twenty-seventh in Yin, the twenty-eighth and twenty-ninth in Mao, and the thirtieth day in Chen. The general calculation method for the five Five Phases Bureaus is: divide the birth day number by the bureau number. If it divides evenly, start from Yin Palace and count forward the number of times corresponding to the quotient to place Ziwei. If it does not divide evenly, add a number to make it divisible. If the added number is even, move forward that number of palaces; if it is odd, move backward that number of palaces.

生逢木宮三歲起，初一起龍初二牛，逆進二宮安二日，順回四步一辰字，初二同宮牛頭起，逆退二步二辰尋。

This is the mnemonic for placing the "Ziwei" star in the third structure of the Wood sector. "Wood sector for three years" refers to a structure number of three. "Dragon" refers to the Chen palace, and "Ox" refers to the Chou palace. Therefore, the Ziwei star on the first day of the month is placed in the Chen palace, and on the second day in the Chou palace. The following lines explain the method of calculation: sometimes two palaces are counted backward for two days, or four steps are counted forward to reach one Chen position. Starting from the second day in the Chou palace, which is the "Ox head," count backward two steps to find the second Chen position. 紫微金宮四歲花，初一尋豬初二龍，順進三步逆退一，先陰後陽是其基，惟有初二辰上起，退三進四逆尋跡。

This is the mnemonic for placing the "Ziwei" star in the fourth structure. "Jin Gong Si Sui" refers to the structure number being four. "Zhu" is theHai Palace and "Long" is theChen Palace. On the first day, the Ziwei star is in theHai Palace, and on the second day, it is in theChen Palace. After that, it either moves forward three steps or backward one step, first following the yin number and then the yang number, which forms its basis. On days like the second, the Ziwei star starts from theChen Palace, then moves back three palaces and forward four palaces, searching in reverse. 戌土五龍居其中，初一午上二亥宮，逆行二宮安一日，惟有九日不能均，十居辰上初居寅，二十九日五上尋，二宮一日順三次，退二三次又逆回，惟有六日無正位，逢四對宮去追尋。

This is the mnemonic for placing the "Ziwei" star in the fifth structure. "Wulong" refers to the fifth structure number. The Ziwei star on the first day is placed in the Wu palace, on the second day in the Hai palace, and so on, placing one palace each day according to the mnemonic. However, on days ending with nine, the usual pattern does not apply, and the star must be placed separately: on the nineteenth day in the Chen palace, on the ninth day in the Yin palace, and on the twenty-ninth day in the Wu palace. The phrase "two palaces one day, moving forward three times, then retreating two, and so on three times, then reversing" means that when placing the star in two palaces for one day, it should be moved forward three times, then retreat two palaces, and repeat this process three times before reversing. "Only the sixth day has no fixed position, when encountering the fourth palace, search for it in the opposite palace" means that on the sixth day, there is no fixed position, and when encountering the fourth palace, the star should be placed in the opposite palace. 離火宮中六歲奇，初二騎馬初四龍，進三退二各一日，逆回三步是生時，先陽後陰逆退二，另有進一各期端，退二安一退二日，順進五宮方是基。

This is the mnemonic for placing the "Ziwei" star in the sixth fire sector. "Li" belongs to fire among the eight trigrams, and "six years" refers to the structure number being six. "Ma" is theWu Palace, and "Long" is theChen Palace. The Ziwei star born on the second day falls in theWu Palace, and on the fourth day falls in theChen Palace. For other days, it either advances three sectors or retreats two sectors each day. Moving backward three steps leads to the position of the day of birth. First follow the yang numbers, then the yin numbers, moving backward two sectors. There is also a variation where it advances one sector. After placing it two sectors back, moving back two more days, and then advancing five sectors is the foundation of the entire method. 天府惟寅申二宮紫府同宮。

The Treasury star and Command star, "天府," can only be in the寅 or申 palace to share the same palace with the Emperor star, "紫微." In all other palaces, "天府" and "紫微" are symmetrically opposite each other along the axis of寅 and申. The original chart shows the following correspondences: if "紫微" is in丑, then "天府" is in卯; if "紫微" is in子, then "天府" is in辰; if "紫微" is in亥, then "天府" is in巳; if "紫微" is in戌, then "天府" is in午; if "紫微" is in酉, then "天府" is in未; if "紫微" is in未, then "天府" is in酉; if "紫微" is in午, then "天府" is in戌; if "紫微" is in巳, then "天府" is in亥; if "紫微" is in辰, then "天府" is in子; if "紫微" is in卯, then "天府" is in丑; if "紫微" is in寅 or申, then "紫微" and "天府" share the same palace. Therefore, once the position of "紫微" is determined according to the Five Phases, the position of "天府" can be directly paired accordingly and filled in.

天殤：子辰卯午未宮禍緊。

The star Tian Shang, when located in the five palaces of Zi, Chen, Mao, Wu, and Wei, brings the most urgent calamity and the quickest response. The original diagram arranges the severity of the calamities caused by Tian Shang and Tian Shu stars according to different palace positions, intending to show that the same malevolent star, when placed in different palaces, results in varying degrees and speeds of danger. When Tian Shang is located in the Palace of Servants, it indicates loss, damage, and decline.

天使：丑卯辰酉戌宮禍緊。

The Star of the Messenger of Illness, when located in the Chou, Mao, Chen, You, or Xu mansions, brings calamity swiftly. This star resides in the House of Disease and Misfortune, overseeing sickness and misfortune; once it falls into the aforementioned mansions, illness and disaster arrive quickly and severely.

殤使：寅申巳亥禍緊。

When the stars Tian Shang and Tian Shi are both located in the four birth宫 positions, which are寅, 申, 巳, and 亥, calamity descends most urgently. These four宫 are the four birth positions, where the vital energy and momentum naturally activate quickly. With two凶 stars appearing together, misfortunes arrive especially swiftly.

凡歲限行到此星必死。

If the current year's heavenly stem and the major and minor limits arrive at the palace where Tian Shang and Tian Shi are located, it indicates a danger to life. The original text also notes below this sentence: if there are auspicious stars in the three directions and four cardinal positions to rescue, then there will be no problem.

廟、旺、得地、利益、平和、不得地、落陷。

The seven categories are the headings of the original table, used in divination to indicate the strength of a star when it is located in a particular palace: "入庙" (in its temple) is the strongest, "旺" (prosperous) is next, followed by "得地" (well-placed), "利益" (beneficial), and "平和" (neutral). "不得地" (not well-placed) indicates a decline in power, and "落陷" (fallen into decline) is the weakest. When consulting the table, first determine which palace a star is located in on the birth chart, then find the corresponding row for that palace and identify which category the star falls into, thus determining whether it is powerful or weak. Lianzhen sitting in the命宫 is an extraordinary configuration: it indicates a noble nature, strong will, and the ability to eliminate old evils and create new situations. One may attain high and honorable official positions, with a clear and upright career, and a good reputation. However, if Lianzhen is in a闲宫 and meets with Tanwang, Pojun, Qingyang, Huoshen, and Hua Ji, even if there are wealth,禄, and official positions, they will not be complete.
