Official Ghosts Summary

This section specifically discusses the four types of terrain known as 'official', 'ghost', 'beast', and 'celestial'. These terms refer to mountains that arise from the residual energy of a true site, appearing before, behind, and on the left and right sides. Mountains located in front of the site are called 'official stars', those behind are called 'ghost stars', those on the left and right sides of the azure dragon and white tiger are called 'celestial stars', and those on the left and right of the bright hall as well as between the water mouth are called 'beast stars', also known as 'bright celestial stars'. These four elements serve as evidence of a prosperous and noble site.

Fu Wenyi Gong's "Four Spirits Song" says: the stars Qín and Yuè, along with the stars Guān and Guǐ, are all fine spirits produced by the good dragon; if they appear in front of the site, behind the site, or on both sides of the Qinglong and Baihu, this land will certainly produce ministers and prime ministers. Bu Ying Tian says: one must recognize the Guān star in front of the site and the Guǐ star behind the site, in order to distinguish whether this site is solid or hollow. He also says: the Qín star and the Shòu star standing at the water mouth indicate that the person will be listed among the Hanlin Academy. He also says: the emergence of the Yuè star indicates officialdom, and one may expect the fame and reputation of the Wang and Xie families. This is the reason why the Guān, Guǐ, Qín, and Yuè stars are indispensable. Below is a summary of the key points. What is called "Guān"? It is the mountain that goes backward from the facing mountain. What is called "Guǐ"? It is the mountain that supports the site behind the site mountain. What is called "Qín"? It is the stone shaped like a turtle or fish in the middle of the water. What is called "Yuè"? It is the sharp stone that grows behind the elbow of the Qinglong and Baihu.

On the Official Star

The so-called "official star" refers to a mountain that extends forward beyond the mountains surrounding the main body, located behind the case mountain. Zhang Zimwei said: Ask, what is the official star? It is another mountain in front of the main mountain. This is because the dragon energy is strong, and the refined energy condenses and wraps around sufficiently, so it further expresses itself as the official star. The importance of the dragon's noble energy determines the significance of the official star; if the dragon's noble energy is light, then the official star will also be light. Here, the term "big" or "small" does not refer to the physical size of the mountain, but rather to the strength of the energy flow.

Since it is called the official star, it can only bring good fortune and not misfortune. However, one should be cautious if the dragon site itself is not genuine, for even if there is an official star, it will be of no use. Zhang Zimou said: generally speaking, official stars are not evil, but one should be careful if something appears to be an official star but actually is not. The official star is located outside the lateral dragon and tiger formations, so it is often not visible from the site; there are also cases where it is visible, called "present official" or "face official." The Classic of Shaking the Dragon says: official stars in front are mostly not visible, and those that are visible are called "present officials." If the dragon site is genuine, this situation indicates that the family will achieve prestige in the current generation. In general, although the official star brings only good fortune and no misfortune, it still requires the dragon site to be genuine to bring good fortune; otherwise, it will be considered as misfortune. As for its shape, there is no need to be overly rigid and create a multitude of complicated names. For example, the site of Wang Bizhen of the Jingshan Wang family is of the official star pattern, and the diagram is listed below.

This piece of land is located in Jingshan County, with a small name called Jieguan Ting Xinyan Wan. Its dragon is a branch of the main dragon of the county, with a long origin that cannot be explained in detail. As it approaches the site, it spreads out heavily like a tent, and suddenly rises to form a sharp mountain, which is the "Lianzhen" fire star. The fire star gives birth to the earth star, and the earth star gives birth to the metal star, which is the Da Yue Mountain. From Da Yue Mountain, it continues through three gorges, crosses fields, and moves in a way resembling a ball being thrown, a horse galloping, a shuttle with thread, or a pearl connected by silk. The dragon energy is strong, with many branches and subsidiary mountains protecting the main ridge. The main ridge comes out in the center to form the "Taiyin" star, and a subsidiary ridge protrudes slightly to form the site.

The site is very clear and elegant, with both sides curving inward to embrace it, creating a spacious and harmonious environment. The inner bright hall gathers energy without dispersing, while the outer area is flat and open. The right arm turns widely to enclose the site, forming a "Jade Belt" formation, winding across the front of the site. Any excess energy from the site is drawn forward and released as "Official Star," extending over thirty miles. The branches on both sides layer back to embrace the site, effectively guarding and supporting it, making it truly a noble land. However, the official star is too far away, and the site is formed in the middle section of the dragon's body, where the mountain trend has not yet stopped. Who could recognize this as such a vast and valuable land?

After the burial, the Wang family produced Xi Quegong, who passed the imperial examination as a jinshi and held the position of Qian Du Yushǐ. Wang Qiao, also a jinshi, served as Buzhengshi. Wang Ge, another jinshi, held the post of Shaqing. The son of Buzhengshi, Wang Zongmao, was also a jinshi and served as Shiyuyeshi. Recently, another member of the family, Chi Gong Wang Zongzai, passed the imperial examination and rose to the position of Duyushǐ. In addition, Wang Zongyan, Wang Zongzhen, Wang Zongchu, Wang Daben, Wang Dayou, and Wang Jie all consecutively passed the imperial examinations. Talent emerges generation after generation, and the family's prosperity has not yet reached its end.

The author explains that the land in question has a long extension of qi, but this diagram was not included in the section on "residual qi," instead being treated directly as an official star. The reason is that the line extending from the mountain falls outside the White Tiger terrain, directly facing the tomb site and passing through the field, which fits the pattern of an official star. However, the mountain on the left side of the tomb site is too short, making it appear unbalanced compared to the right side. Nevertheless, since the left side has a spread-out terrain forming the site of the Wang family's yang residence, and also has a spring flowing out in front of the site, the qi on the left is released through the spring, thus balancing the right side. This is a subtle aspect of nature's workings, requiring careful examination, as it is not easily understood by ordinary people.

There is a legend: The Wang family's ancestral home had a spiritual spring in front of their residence. Whenever a rainbow appeared over the spring, someone from the Wang family would pass the imperial examination, and this never failed. The members of the Wang family took the names "Hóngtáng" (Rainbow Pond), "Hóngquán" (Rainbow Spring), and "Ruìdì" (Blessed Land), all derived from this rainbow phenomenon. In the fifth year of Longqing, which was the year of Wuchen, the rainbow appeared again, but no one from the Wang family took the imperial examination that year. Everyone thought the phenomenon had lost its power. Soon after, the candidate named Li Weizhen of Yixuan passed the examination and became a Jinshi (imperial scholar), entering the Hanlin Academy. This perfectly matched the appearance of the rainbow—originally, Li was the son-in-law of Hóngtáng Grand Secretary Wang Zongmao.

The land in the diagram is located in Nanchang, with a local name of Ma An Xi. Its dragon originates from Zhangmu Ling, the main ridge passes through the field to Zhu Fang, then spreads out horizontally to form a broad flat hill. The ridge emerges from the hill, travels for more than twenty miles. As it approaches the end, it breaks off again and turns into a gorge, rising to form the "Three Platforms," with a nipple-like protrusion and a hollow shape where the site is formed. In front of the site, the remaining energy spreads out like a carpet, and behind the site, a ghost star extends to support it. However, the Azure Dragon side is straight and stiff, rushing directly into the Bright Hall, and the lower gate is low and sunken, which does not meet the eyes of ordinary people. They do not understand this is the "returning dragon looking back to its ancestor" pattern, for the ancestor and descendant are of the same family. Although the Azure Dragon rushes out, this is exactly "bright illumination"; moreover, it also extends the official star, which is exactly the evidence of nobility.

After the burial, this family produced many notable figures: Ji Qing became an imperial examiner, Zi Su became an imperial examiner, Bo Yue held the position of Deputy Minister, and Bo Xiu reached the rank of Deputy Grand Censor. Ting Zhong became an imperial examiner, Ting Mei became a Deputy Grand Censor, and Ting Cong, Ting Gao, Ting Bao, and Ting Ji all passed the local examination. Shi Xian became an imperial examiner, Shi Jie became an imperial examiner, Shi Shen, Shi Song, and Shi Tai all passed the local examination. There was also a person named Ming Rui, who became an imperial examiner and served as a censor; a person named Ming Cai, who held the position of Provincial Governor; a person named Ming Gui, who became an imperial examiner; and persons named Ming Zhe, Ming Shu, Ming Chang, as well as Yi Long, Yi Peng, and Yi Ruan, who all passed the local examination. In addition, those who obtained official positions through hereditary privilege, imperial recommendation, or payment, the family had over a hundred literati wearing caps and sashes, indicating a flourishing population and prosperity, which has remained strong to this day.

On the Ghost Star

The so-called "ghost star" refers to the mountain that extends behind thesite and supports it, acting like a pillow to provide support. Yang Yunsong said: Ask me what a ghost is? The mountain that supports the back of thesite is the ghost. Whenever the dragon line directly hits the back of thesite to form a site, there is no ghost star; only when the site is formed by a lateral dragon line, it must have a ghost star supporting the back of the site to prove that the site is genuine. Liao Jinjing said "a lateral dragon line must have a ghost star," which means exactly this. Because it grows behind the site and takes away part of the site's energy, it is called "stealing," hence the name "ghost."

Wu Xiangshan said: The ghost star is not among the key elements that need careful consideration in geomancy, nor is it included in the system of celestial stars. When discussing geomancy, one should only consider how the terrain comes to the site, how the left Azure Dragon and right White Tiger are arranged, how the Vermilion Bird terrain in front is, and whether the overall situation of water and mountains meets and connects. Also, whether the mountains in the four directions and eight directions stand firm without any breaks or breaks. As for the ghost star, it can be set aside without discussion. However, when the site is slightly tilted, the ghost star can be used as a reference. This statement is most accurate. It shows that the ghost star is not necessarily auspicious just because it exists, nor is it necessarily inauspicious if it does not exist. It is only that tilted sites rely on it for verification. If this is the case, how can the ghost star determine the size and importance of a site?

There are several views held by predecessors. One says: "Ghost" means "strange" or "abnormal," and things that are strange and changeable cannot be entirely trusted, so how can one rely solely on the Ghost Star to determine a site? There are also cases where even if the Ghost Star is present, it cannot be used to determine the site, and one must be flexible in the methods of site selection, and not rigidly adhere to the Ghost Star. Another view says: "Ghost" means "strange," and only strange sites require the Ghost Star to verify them; by examining the patterns of the Ghost Star, one can understand the nature of the site. Another view says: "Ghost" refers to a hill that steals the vital energy of the true dragon, and thus, great sites will certainly not have ghosts. Another view says: when the true dragon's energy is strong and flourishing, the Ghost Hill may extend several miles away. Another view says: the Ghost Star taking away the energy from the site is not desirable if it is high and prominent. Another view says: a Ghost Hill shaped like a screen or canopy that is high and prominent indicates the emergence of officials or ministers. Different schools of thought have different opinions, but in the end, the most correct principle is to rely primarily on the dragon and site.

A dragon site that is noble and refined brings good fortune, and the ghost star becomes auspicious; but if the dragon site is false and not genuine, the ghost star becomes ominous. This is similar to the ghosts in the world: if a person's vital energy is strong and the family is prosperous, the ghost brings auspicious signs and becomes a harbinger of blessings; if a person's vital energy is weak and the family is declining, the ghost causes disturbances and brings misfortune. The meaning is entirely the same; one must first focus on the dragon qi, and then consider the ghost. If the dragon site is not genuine, the vital energy is scattered, and the ghost star becomes a harmful spirit causing trouble. If one only judges wealth, misfortune, and fortune based on the shape of the ghost star without examining the dragon site as the fundamental factor, that would be a great mistake.

Moreover, the ghost star can only be explained through reason, not by rigidly applying shapes. As long as it is radiant and solid, elegant and dignified, either square or round without bias, straight or horizontal, paired or in groups of three, with multiple bends embracing closely and tightly guarding the body of the site, not scattered or chaotic, not ugly or repulsive, it is considered to have reached the proper essence. Why bother to distinguish so many shapes, dividing them into over a hundred and twenty types? Now, only take examples of several forms such as horizontal, vertical, paired, edge, high, long, and short, and draw diagrams accordingly. Readers can then generalize from these examples.

This piece of land is located in Wuyuan County, with a small name called Dati Temple, and it is the tomb of the common ancestor Yuan Gong of the various branches of the Wang family. Its dragon momentum is long, and I cannot go into detail here. At the entrance, there is a flat ridge, forming a refined and exquisite site. The Azure Dragon and White Tiger bend around it, with lingering energy that is long and expansive. The Bright Hall is flat and wide, with internal energy gathering and external surroundings open and spacious. However, the dragon pulse at the site has not yet fully completed, making it a type of site that is horizontally supported. Directly behind the site, there is a pulse that crosses through the field, suddenly rising as a ghost star, lying horizontally to support and embrace the site with strong force, clearly confirming the noble status of the site star. This is precisely why it becomes a superior site. After burial, the family has flourished, producing dozens of individuals with academic achievements, and several officials holding the rank of Minister of the Ministry of Rites. As for officials such as Vice Minister, Imperial Censor, and various local magistrates and assistants, they are countless. Up to now, the descendants have multiplied and enjoy great wealth and honor. Although there are many good sites among the various branches of the Wang family, this one is the source, gathering the most abundant spiritual essence.

This plot of land is located in the Wen Chang Township of Jishui County, with a small name called Xia Lang. It is the ancestral tomb of Zhuangyuan Liu Wenjie Gong Liu Yan. Its origin is very far, and I won't go into detail. Upon entering the main area, one opens a large account, passing through several gorges, moving left and right, turning around, twisting and turning, forming a "Lu Bian" pattern. At the entrance, a golden star suddenly rises, opening a clamp mouth, with a small nipple in the middle hanging down. The ground is flat below the nipple, and the site is formed on top of the nipple. On both sides, the arms bend and embrace with affection, the inner bright hall is tightly gathered, the outer expanse is open, the facing mountain in front is beautiful and elegant, and the mountain behind is high and towering as a barrier. The mountain is resting on the ghost star, and the straight support is very strong. A big stream flows behind, winding around, with surrounding mountains dense and overlapping on all sides, and the water mouth is locked tightly. After burial, a person named Dingshi Gong emerged, who passed the imperial examination as a jinshi and served as a deputy grand censors. There were also others with good character who passed the high examination. Zhuangyuan Liu Yan was the top scholar in the Renshu year of the Zhengtong era, serving as a minor official and later posthumously honored as the Left Minister of the Ministry of Rites. We have also seen another plot of land in his family with a Phoenix shape, which is also a good site. The family's blessings have not yet ceased.

The next two entries only have titles: one is "The Ancestral Site of Fengcheng Lei Shushang," and the other is "The Original Ancestral Site of the Ye Family." Both the main text and the illustrations have been lost, leaving only the titles. The third entry still has some explanation: the land shown in the diagram is located five miles south of Fuliang County, with a local name of Maoling. The coming dragon is not described in detail from a distance. At the beginning, there is a major break and the formation spreads out like a tent. The converging lines fall into the throat, and a golden star rises up. Turning its face, it forms a horizontal waist site. The dragon energy continues to run for six or seven miles without stopping. It all depends on a short segment of ghost star behind the site, which is very peculiar and confirms the true nature of the site. The momentum it has been running with clearly shows that the remaining energy is long and strong. Since the Fang family was buried there, generations have had people who passed the imperial examinations.

On the Stars of Birds

The so-called "qin star" refers to stones found in the water mouth, also known as "fallen river fire stars," because these stones are said to be the residual energy of the fire dragon falling into the river. Yang Yunsong said: When you ask what qin is, it refers to stones shaped like turtles or fish that emerge from the center of the water. These stones may resemble bamboo shoots, official's jade scepters, swimming fish, turtles and snakes, wild ducks, golden boxes, jade seals, lotus flowers, and pen stands; they are densely layered and clearly distinct, varying in height, length, sharpness, roundness, squareness, scattering, or gathering. Such qin stars are extremely noble and refined. If one sees stones that are a few zhang high and proudly rising, they indicate someone who will hold an official position and attain the highest rank in the court. In the water mouths of prefectures, cities, and provinces, there are often many such stones.

If the stone is only a small one, resting against the mountain and clinging to the water, floating without a firm foundation, it is called "称官不见禄," which ultimately signifies a false official. It must have its roots firmly anchored at the bottom of the water and rise high and proud, only then can it be considered beautiful. Whenever one enters a village and sees such an unusual stone in the water's mouth area or in the middle of a stream, there must be a place of great fortune nearby. One should search for the dragon's resting place and not overlook it. For example, the ancestral graves of the Li Tianguan family in Fuqing Ou Ning and the Ou Yang family in Tahe Shukou both had stones in the river that stood out remarkably, indicating the presence of a noble site, which is a confirmation of the bird star. The land known as "sea shrimp playing with a pearl" in the Yaoxi Zhang family in Dexing County also has a stone shaped like an official seal in front of the burial site, which belongs to this category. The diagram is listed below.

This piece of land is located seven miles south of the Jianning Prefecture city, with a small name called Lijie. Its dragon spreads its canopy, spreads out over the flat land, and flows down along the water; at the 'entry point' it turns back against the water, suddenly rising to form a high mound, becoming the 'Sun Metal Star' and forming the burial site. On the right side, there are stones floating in the water, close to the burial site and supporting it effectively, both blocking the inner bright hall and filling the outer bright hall, distinctly different from others, which is a clear indication of noble destiny. The mountain behind the burial site, called Le Mountain, is two layers of high tents supporting the sky, and itself has the 'Single Character Literary Star' lying across in front of the burial site, used to gather the internal energy; the outer area is spacious and open, with a big stream of water specially coming from several miles away, indeed a noble land. This land was chosen by a person named Mengnan, who is called CuiPing, for the burial of his father, Yansou. After several years of burial, the official Shangshu Gong was born, named Mo, with the courtesy name Guchong, who passed the imperial examination in the Xinsi year of the Zhengde era, and held the position of Minister of Personnel, and the family has remained prosperous and wealthy to this day. Common people call this land the 'Upstream Fish' shape, but in my opinion, it should be called the 'Coiled Dragon Playing with a Pearl' shape.

This piece of land is located southwest of Tahe County, ten miles away, with the name Shukou. Its dragon mountain and the main dragon mountain of the county share the same ancestral mountain range, proceeding to Wushan, then continuing for more than thirty miles before separating from the county's main dragon. This part is not discussed in detail. Upon entering the main area, a tent is set up, crossing the gorge, and suddenly a majestic "Imperial Screen" rises. In the center, a single line descends and forms the burial site, with an exceptionally refined situation. On both sides, it is heavily enclosed, with a carpet-like spread in front of the burial site, and a strong lower gate. The burial site faces a grand reverse trend, with the Luo City like a wall enclosing it, distant秀丽 peaks bowing and paying respects, and the Gan River specially flowing from the east to meet the source of a small stream, winding around the Azure Dragon and enclosing the Black Tortoise. Large stones in the river and bird-like luminous stars lock the water mouth, serving as evidence of noble fortune. On the left side, there is also another burial site, commonly known as the "Water Pushes the Stone Mill" shape, which is also a fine site. The family's yang residence is located beneath the Imperial Screen, also possessing this layout and these luminous stars. The yang residence benefits from water, while the yin burial site conceals wind, so the OuYang family has a large population, great wealth, high status, and long life, with all kinds of blessings gathered together, all resulting from these two pieces of land, one yin and one yang, converging their energies. These two sites were personally selected by Fu Xian and Jue Xian, two gentlemen. Now the two branches are equally prosperous, so here we specially list their family lineages.

Here are two genealogical charts of the Shu Kou Ouyang family. The connecting lines between names are no longer present, leaving only the names arranged by generation. The Fuxian branch is as follows: Ouyang Fuxian; the next generation is Yi Ding and Yi Xin; the following generation is Lin; then He, Ren, Xian, and Qing; the subsequent generations are Jun, Jian, Zhe, Chong, Peng, Ning, Xi, Mian, Gao, Rang, Yong, Shu, Yu, Yu, Xing, Shaoqing, Yuqing. The Juexian branch is as follows: Ouyang Juexian; the next generation is Yi Wu and Yi Zhong; the following generation is Lian, Zi Zong, and Zi Zhan; then Zheng, Yong, Jun; the subsequent generations are Luo, Zhu, Yong, Tang, Jing, Ye, Sheng, Xian, Shuo, Gu, He, E, Tingchen, Yong, Qu, Du, Xi, Kun, Song, Yun, Xian, Gan Zhen, Gan Li, Gan Heng, Gan Yuan. The descendants of both branches are equally prosperous, thus confirming the earlier statement about equal wealth and honor.

The land shown in the diagram is located in the water south area of the 29th district of our De Xing county. Its origin comes from the Song Mountain at Gang Tou, and the main dragon has branched off and extended far away; we won't go into detail here. It flows continuously for more than a hundred miles, rising to form the "Guixian" fire mountain as the minor ancestral hill. Then it proceeds openly and clearly for several tens of miles, spreading out and turning through a pass, with layers upon layers of hills. When it reaches this site, it opens its canopy and turns back, descending in the form of "Fei Mo" to form the "Hui Long Gu Zu" (returning dragon to ancestral hill) site. The dragon's momentum is lively and dynamic, and the site is clear, refined, and delicate. On both sides, hills embrace and revolve around it, forming a compact and gathered terrain that does not disperse. The surrounding terrain is peaceful and harmonious, with the front mountains being elegant and peculiar. Among them, one peak rises high into the clouds, sharp and lovely. Below the site, there is a round and flat stone, right in front of the site, serving as a sign of noble destiny.

A dragon comes from the Gen direction and enters the main point, with the grave facing from Gui mountain to Ding direction, combined with Chou and Wei. This is a point selected by Liao Jinjing. The form is called "Sea Shrimp Playing with a Pearl," using a bird star and stone seal as verification. After the burial, the Zhang family produced four brothers who became prodigies: Ze Gong, Hu Gong, Mengquan Gong, and Mengzheng Gong, all of whom passed the prodigy examination as brothers. Additionally, one became a驸马, marrying a princess of Emperor Lizong of Song. Four people entered the Hanlin Academy: Lin Gong, Xianzhong Gong, Zhong某 Gong (the name is missing one character), all three serving as Hanlin Zhi Zhi Lang, while Shigong held the position of Jiancao in this dynasty. Two scholars specialized in the study of the classics: Qiu Gu先生 and Qingxi先生; dozens of imperial examinees; and over a hundred more who were granted official status through hereditary privilege, recommendation, or official nomination, continuing in official positions generation after generation.

Since the stone print was located directly in front of the site and belonged to the "hug within round mound," it indicated that a nobleman from the family would be adopted out. Therefore, Qiuguo Gong Zhang Jiashan adopted his nephew as his heir, becoming the son of Xu Zhizhou Zhang Conglong. If the "hug within round mound" was born from the main dragon ridge, it indicated that the family's own descendants would be adopted out to an external family; if it was born from an external mountain, it indicated that descendants from an external family would be adopted into the family. In this case, it was born from the main dragon ridge. To this day, the three Zhang families remain prosperous and flourishing.

On the First Star of the Celestial Phenomena

The so-called "Yao Xing" refers to the flourishing and outward expression of the dragon's noble energy. Whenever there are sharp, large rocks found outside the elbows of the Azure Dragon and White Tiger, on the branches of the dragon's body, on the ridges beside the main mound, at the water outlet below the Bright Hall, or on other parts accompanying the dragon's body, they are considered Yao Xing. Any noble land must have Yao Xing. Yang Yunsong said: If the dragon and the mound are genuine but there is no Yao Xing, even though there are many star peaks piled up, the family may accumulate gold and jade, but the descendants will rarely achieve success in the imperial examinations. This indicates that having Yao Xing is essential for noble energy. Moreover, the Yao Xing should be substantial and prominent.

Yang Yunsong said: If the star is small and short, it can only indicate low-ranking officials such as chief clerk, county commander, county assistant, and military advisor; even if oneby chance passes the imperial examination, he is likely to die young. Therefore, if the star is long and prominent, it indicates great wealth and status; if it is short and small, it indicates limited status. The star should also be close to the site of the tomb. Therefore, it is said: when the star appears as a sharp stone, it lies horizontally beside the tomb body, spreads out flat in front of the tomb, and is almost within reach. In this case, a young person can achieve the title of状元 within twelve years. Because if it is far away, the effect is slow; if it is close, it can quickly bring about official success. These are all accurate remarks.

But what he said, that "some look like daggers, some like swords, following the water to flow away, stretching one after another slowly; a mediocre master would only interpret this as a sign of leaving home, not knowing that there is actually a true dragon in it," must be judged by the dragon's resting place to determine fortune or misfortune. Because the coming dragon is like the ancestors and parents, the resting place is like the master, and the stars are just guests. One must first take the dragon's resting place as the foundation, then determine its fortune or misfortune. If the dragon and resting place are truly noble and valuable, it is like a great nobleman, who must surely have generals and attendants around him, either on the left or the right, coming or going, arriving or departing, all serving him. Therefore, the stars following the water away need not be feared. On the contrary, if the dragon and resting place are false and lowly, they become bad sands causing leaving home, losing fields, and punishment.

Zhang Zimoi said: A luminous star that flows with the water must be blocked by mountains outside to be considered auspicious; if it flows away without any obstruction, it is considered a sand that causes people to leave their hometown, and cannot be regarded as a luminous star. Although this statement is reasonable, it is still not as comprehensive as taking the dragon and tomb as the main focus, and incorporating Zhang Zimoi's idea of blocking and intercepting. Yang Yunsong said: On the side of the Azure Dragon, if two luminous stars are emitted, they are called "Jin Tian Bi", indicating a good omen of acquiring more land deeds every year; if there is a sharp stone shooting from the right side, it is considered凶, and one must avoid it. Some people doubt this, thinking that a site with luminous stars on the White Tiger side cannot be used.

In fact, the elders teach according to their own intentions. The sharp stones on the White Tiger side are indeed not always usable; but if the dragon site is precious, then those sharp stones are true luminaries, completely different from the harmful mountain formations. The terms "advancing field brush" and "retreating field brush" cannot be judged solely based on whether they are on the Azure Dragon or White Tiger side, but should be determined by whether they are on the upper or lower water side. If a sharp stone is on the Azure Dragon side but follows the water current and carries a killing energy, it is still a retreating field brush. If a sharp stone is on the White Tiger side but goes against the water current and shows affection, it is still an advancing field brush. This is merely a provisional discussion regarding the two types of brushes, advancing and retreating. When taken to the extreme, it is still necessary to rely on the dragon site. As long as the dragon site is genuine, then all sharp stones that follow the water current and rise gracefully, such as "following the water and flying together, all gradually rising," are all precious luminaries, and there is no need to distinguish between Azure Dragon and White Tiger, or between following the water and going against it.

The shape of the killing and execution ridges is very similar to the shining stars, so they must be carefully distinguished. Yang Yunsong said: some resemble drills, others like needles, with their ends pointing at each other; one must go to the site of the grave to find them; such land will have many descendants who are noble and respected, and will certainly accumulate gold and jade. He also said: round hills rise continuously, then fall, and sharp stones shoot toward the grave site; such land will have brothers and sons who pass the imperial examination in the same year, wearing purple sashes and holding yellow silk edicts to meet the emperor. He also said: some resemble mutual shooting, others like opposing spears, with sharp points between stones; such land produces virtuous and capable people, passing the examination is common, and can also produce high officials like the Three Grand Ministers and Eight Ministers, as well as prodigies. All these are based on oral traditions and lineage, not random talk.

If there is no formula to rely on, then sharp peaks that shoot at each other, point to each other, or clash with each other are all considered as injurious and harmful, indicating brothers harming each other, being exiled, executed, or suffering various misfortunes. How could they be considered auspicious? Zhang Zimei believed that when two sharp peaks face each other, they must be respectful and avoid each other to be considered auspicious. If one shoots toward the tomb site, it should be judged according to whether it is horizontal or straight: horizontal ones are auspicious, while straight ones shooting directly at the tomb site are inauspicious. This view is indeed accurate. Because such auspicious stars and injurious shapes are very similar, differing by the slightest degree can result in completely different outcomes of good or bad fortune. If one lacks real ability and insight, seeing such situations would not fail to cause fear.

Therefore Yang Yunsong said: the stars of the qin and yao are of great value beyond measure. When they appear before the qi gathering point, their forms are described as 'ugly'—here, 'ugly' refers to the meaning of 'following the water obliquely' mentioned later, not the fierce and evil shapes of凶形. They appear as sharp lines flowing along the water or flying out obliquely. Common庸师 upon seeing them become fearful. Indeed, the sharp stars of yao can be either following the water or flying obliquely; according to conventional patterns, they are considered retreating field markers and foreign hill formations, which are truly alarming. However, the wise recognize that the dragon andsite are genuinely precious, so they do not despise them. If the dragon andsite are not genuine, then these stars become injurious and bring misfortune.

The "Yufeng Baozhuan" says: Without encountering punishment or calamity, one cannot rise to high official rank; only with great punishment and calamity can one achieve high academic success and top honors. Some people doubt this, thinking that if this is true, then punishment and calamity are not to be feared at all. In fact, it is not so. The common people regard celestial stars as punishment and calamity, so the books use such wording, merely meaning: in order to become a high official or achieve high academic success, one must have what the common people call punishment and calamity. The books also say: so-called punishment is not actually punishment, and so-called calamity is not actually calamity. The refined quality lies in the sharp and upright forms. In other words, what the common people call punishment is not truly punishment, and what they call calamity is not truly calamity; its refined quality lies in its sharpness and uprightness. One must encounter such sharp and upright forms to be considered as encountering the punishment and calamity mentioned in the books, not the punishment and calamity of the common people. For example, the ancestral graves of Fu Liang Li Shilang, Fengcheng Huang Shengxu, Leping Mu Guogong, and our county's Zhang Shengxu all display sharp and straight ridges. According to conventional judgment, these would be inauspicious, but because the dragon is true and the site is proper, they become "bright celestial stars," serving as clear evidence of high status, exactly belonging to this category. Below are the diagrams listed one by one.

This plot of land is located in Yicangwu, the eastern town of Fuliang County. It belongs to the large dragon turning around to pay homage to the ancestral mountain, with the burial site at the end of the water source. On the right side, the sandy ridges descend continuously towards the bright hall, sharply following the water flow. In front, the sandy ridges also sharply face the burial site. The overall layout is narrow and cramped, not meeting the usual standards of common people. After Master Wu Jingluan of the state divination school selected this site for the Li family, this family produced two marquises, five deputy ministers, four prodigies, one meritorious official granted a fiefdom by the founding emperor, and three scholars.

Originally, this dragon descended from the center of the Mars "SanTai" formation, flying and undulating along the way. It turned over and re-emerged at the top, then descended again, its momentum forming a network of lines that created a "Jingxing Kai Wo" (Golden Star opening basin) site. Every aspect is of noble quality. The lower ridge is very strong. Although the front ridges seem intimidating, they are actually "Ming Yao" (bright brilliance) — just like the bodyguard with armor and weapons accompanying a great nobleman, there is nothing to fear. Although this site is at the water's tail and the source, the situation is narrow, yet it is a "Gu Zu" (honoring the ancestor) site, for the ancestor and descendants are one family. Moreover, a great dragon turning over to enter a mountain valley cannot be compared with a small dragon's site at the foot of a mountain. Bo Yingshan said, "Remote sources and secluded valleys, how can there be a true dragon?" He was afraid people would choose sites at the foot of mountains where there is no dragon, but this does not mean that all remote sources and secluded valleys are to be rejected.

The land depicted in the diagram is located in Fengcheng, with a small name called Huanjiang Quanmian Gang. Its dragon originates from the two髻 mountain as its ancestor, and its course extends over a long distance, which cannot be explained in detail here. When it reaches the main area, it spreads out horizontally to form a wide "nine-brain lotus" shape. The main ridge descends from the center, passes through the nine brains again, then forms a "gong" character shape, and then breaks off again to form a pass, suddenly rising straight to form the "three platforms" and entering the main point, becoming the "heavenly wealth" earth star, forming a "hanging pearl" site within a depression. The site is very exquisite, with qi gathering in front of the site. The rear area is like an inverted tile slightly concave, and the bright hall is compact and skillful. The right side has strong power, with a curtain of mountains behind to form a joyful mountain, and in front there are groups of peaks presenting beautiful scenery. Nearby, there is a lion-shaped mountain guarding and blocking, while in the distance, the sun and moon mountains guard the entrance and exit. It is indeed a favorable land.

After the burial, this family produced two scholars named Chouruo and Deli, who held positions in the Huiyou Pavilion and Huanzhang Pavilion respectively; there was also Shaozong, who managed the personnel selection of the Ministry of Personnel; and Yanping, who served successively in the Ministry of Justice. In addition, there were several others named Ming, Ying, Yanfu, Yuanzhi, and Ziwén, who all held the rank of Chaoyi Da Fu. At that time, nine prominent officials emerged from this family. This exactly corresponds to the number "nine brains passing through the heart" in the dragon pattern and the "nine luminaries" in the geomantic method. Moreover, since there was also a son-in-law who reached a high official position, the common people now refer to this as "ten ministers." This land was selected by Wang Dianjiao. At the end of the dragon, there is another small plot of land; in the eyes of ordinary people, this small plot is neat and suitable, but this site has a dispersed dragon pulse and the front ridges follow the water flow, so it will certainly be abandoned. This shows that Master Wang is indeed a highly skilled geomancer.

This piece of land is located ninety miles south of LePing county's city, with a small name called Gaoqiao. Its dragon coming from afar is not discussed in detail. Upon entering the main area, it becomes a flat ridge, spreads out like a tent, passes through a narrow pass, and rises up as a "Hu Gai" formation, with the main ridge emerging from the center to form a site. On both sides, the arms embrace the site with affection, the front has a flat carpet-like area, the water in the bright hall gathers and does not disperse, and in front there are strange peaks arranged in order, so it is called "Hu Seng Li Fo," meaning that the group of peaks are beautifully arranged in front. However, on the White Tiger side, there is a big rock projecting out, shaped like a court official's笏, following the water flow. This land was selected by Master Zhao Yuan Du, a immortal, for the Cheng family. He said: When the bright stars appear, the sand shaped like a笏 protrudes obliquely, the nobleman will come from the nephew's family. The owner sighed, saying: What can we do then? The immortal said: Don't sigh, don't sigh, in the end it is still the same family. Later, the Cheng family indeed had a daughter who married into the Lan Hang Huang family. When the daughter returned to her mother's home to visit, she lost her son, so she adopted her brother's son and raised him as her own child in the Huang family, which became the later Shangshu Gong. Indeed, it fulfilled the immortal's words.

This plot of land is located in LePing County, with the name Da FenTan, also known as E Tang. Its dragon origin is very long. Wu JingLuan's "Clamp Record" only considers Wang Da Mountain as the ancestral mountain, which is from the perspective of the nearby area. From Wang Da Mountain, two dragons branch out: one goes upstream against the water to form the yang residence site of the Xu family in Ming Xi; the other follows the water downstream. When it reaches this site, this branch turns back, facing the vast flow of the big river, and forms the site here. As it approaches the "entry point," it suddenly breaks off and passes through a ridge, then continues to rise sharply with the "Tan Wang" star, standing tall and majestic; then it suddenly forms the "Yu Zhen" earth star, which gathers the breath and binds the qi flow, followed by the "Ao Nao" earth star, hanging down a short nipple, and on top of the nipple, a hollow shape is formed.

The site has two stones on either side forming a clamping mouth, very skillfully arranged. The ground within the site is naturally flat, just enough to fit a coffin. The remaining energy beneath the site is steep and firm; the Qinglong and Baihu mountains, although their heads are raised high, their feet are bowed down and fall into the site, embracing it with affection. A big river flows from the Chen Xun direction to the Wu direction, clearly coming straight ahead, winding around beneath the site. The river has large stones, some resembling wild animals, others resembling flying birds. Mountains several tens of miles away are high and reach into the clouds, their shapes resembling raised flags, spread-out tents, armored war horses, military flags, helmets, swords and spears, golden armor, golden drums, imperial umbrellas, general's platforms, and also resembling stationed troops and arranged formations, with layers of signs indicating wealth and prestige.

On the right side, across the river, there is another mountain, the gathering point of the thousand-li mountain range. Here, it stands upright and dignified, like a court attendant bowing respectfully. It is truly a place of noble rank. However, here the martial stars are exposed, the rocks are rugged and uneven, the Azure Dragon flows along the water and soars, while the White Tiger is lofty and mighty. In front of the cave, the terrain is steep and abrupt, with the original celestial water rushing down. The form and appearance are strange and startling, something ordinary people cannot comprehend. Only the prophecies and praises of Wu Jingluan and Liao Jinjing have revealed its meaning. After the Li family was buried here, they moved to Dinging, and produced Qin Ning Wang Mu Ying. Just at the time of the great chaos at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, our dynasty's Taizu raised an army to revolt, and Mu Ying repeatedly achieved great military feats, being granted the title of Western Ping Hou. After his death, he was posthumously honored as Qin Ning Wang, and his family was enshrined in the Imperial Temple. His three generations were also posthumously honored with the title of King. He had four sons: the eldest, Mu Chun, inherited the title of Hou; the second son, Mu Sheng, was granted the title of Dinging Wang for his military achievements; the third son, Mu Ang, served as the Grand Commander General; the fourth son, Mu Xin, married a princess and was appointed as the驸马都尉 (Marquis Consort's Officer). Until today, his descendants still inherit the title of Qian Guo Gong, and have been guarding Yunnan generation after generation.

The author remarks that although the terrain behind this site is favorable, the convergence point is problematic. The mountain terrain is steep and abrupt, with coarse and unattractive rocks throughout. The White Tiger is prominent and strong, while the Azure Dragon flows away and disperses, with scattered ridges and a steep site. It is a horizontal dragon entering the area, with an unclear main ridge; the mountain that runs straight ahead seems unwilling to stop. Moreover, the central peak lacks a head, sits in a hollow, has no supporting mountain behind it, and the water flows forcefully. The water outlet is both low and distant, none of these features meet the standards of ordinary people, and those who see it for the first time are all shocked.

They did not understand that the land formed by the great dragon ridge possesses a thick and powerful qi, with steep mountain forms and coarse celestial bodies, which are exactly in harmony with its magnitude; the entire body composed of harsh stones signifies the manifestation of majesty; the white tiger raised high and strong indicates the authority of killing and punishment; the azure dragon flowing smoothly outward suggests leaving the native land to achieve high status; the celestial bodies not having a proper apex is actually the "concave head" pattern; the dragon form not stopping signifies abundant residual qi; a steep pit and rapid water flow indicate a premonition of initial misfortune followed by good fortune; the absence of a joyful mountain behind and a low, distant water mouth is because the protective mountains accompanying the dragon ridge are far away in another state or county, and thus do not require proximity. All these seemingly ugly and clumsy features, when combined, are all beneficial. However, before burial, Liang Gong had said: "Good fortune will come thirty years later, but misfortune occurs immediately after burial." If it were not for Li Gong's insight far surpassing that of ordinary people, how could he have dared to bury here? This is probably the result of accumulated goodness, with an unseen force governing it. This land produced the Qianning Prince, who assisted our dynasty and became a founding hero, enjoying titles and honors for generations, which is certainly not a chance occurrence!

A doubtful transmission: In the late Southern Song dynasty, the chancellor Ma Tilingluan selected this piece of land but could not recognize the burial site. He therefore invited Master Zhang to summon the spirit. The spirit used the divination brush to write: I am the land deity of E塘. The chancellor asked me for a large piece of land, but the master who can determine this land has not yet been born, and the person who will obtain this land is 'not yet completed'. The chancellor was happy and said: My wife has not yet passed away, 'not yet completed', perhaps this refers to my wife's burial site? The spirit then wrote again: The chancellor is really too restless! This is the land for the burial of the grandmother of Li Guoan. The chancellor then gave up.

There was a man named Li Gong in Da Fen, whose family had long practiced virtue. He had five sons, who were kind and generous, and he had prepared a small boat to ferry people across the river for free. A local geomancer named Liang Rao was friends with him. One time, after Liang Rao had traveled far and returned, he needed to cross the river. It was already the end of the year, and it was snowing heavily. Li Gong said, "It's so cold today; why don't you stay at my house and wait for the weather to clear?" Liang Rao then stayed overnight. The next day, it snowed again; the third day, the snow fell even heavier, and there was no one on the road. Li Gong treated him even more hospitably. On the first day of the new year, the weather finally cleared. Liang Rao wanted to leave, but Li Gong tried to persuade him to stay. He set wine on the boat and entertained him, and also invited all those who had planned to cross the river that day to join them in drinking.

Drunk and in high spirits, Liang Rao, seizing the opportunity, shouted loudly: Who in the world recognizes me? Today's fortune teller is the god of the future. Any land I mark will either produce a nobleman or a wealthy family. Li Gong said: I only hope the master will grant me a piece of auspicious land! Liang Rao sighed: There is indeed great land in this area, but I fear you do not have the fortune for it! Li Gong said: Relying on my ancestors' accumulated virtue and my own good deeds in life, I dare not claim the land of the emperor, but any land for generals, ministers, or princes, I am worthy of. Liang Rao admired his boldness and let him write a character at random for calculation. Li Gong used a boat pole to write the character "一" (one) on the ground, saying: I want a first-rate piece of land. Liang Rao said: A "一" added to the soil makes the character "王" (king)! Thus knowing his deep blessings, he pointed out this land to him and explained one by one the marks and commendations left by previous master diviners. Li Gong was very happy.

Liang Rao again said to him: This piece of land has an outwardly revealing aura, looking at it causes fear, and soon after burial there will certainly be misfortune, causing harm to the family's descendants and property; only after the misfortune passes will the good fortune begin to manifest, and its prosperity will come from military achievements. Li Gong said: As long as there is real fortune later, some initial misfortune need not be worried about. However, this mountain land is not my own property, but belongs to a wealthy nephew in my clan, and it may be difficult to obtain. A few years later, the famous master Peng Daya from LePing had already pointed this land out to his nephew, but the nephew did not believe it. Li Gong then exchanged his own family's plot of land with him, using it to bury his deceased wife. At first, things indeed did not go smoothly, and soon after, Li Gong died from an epidemic, four of his five sons died; the remaining son also injured someone over a water rights dispute and was exiled to Dingyuan for military service. Later, in Dingyuan, he gave birth to Prince Qianning Mu Ying.

In the late Yuan dynasty, there was great chaos throughout the country. Our dynasty's Taizu raised an army at Liyang. While marching through the fields, the vanguard reported that a tiger was lying in the middle of the road. Taizu ordered that no arrows be shot, only drums should be beaten and they should proceed forward. When they approached closely, it was not a tiger, but a child who was asleep. That child was Mu Ying. Taizu was delighted and said: This is a general as fierce as a tiger! He then took the child into his army and gave him the surname Zhu. In the early years of Hongwu, Mu Ying restored his original surname. Taizu ordered him to take the surname "Mu". Liu Bowen said: Mu Ying is to guard Yunnan, which is a place of warfare involving fire. Since wood gives rise to fire, water should be used to balance it. Therefore, he was given the surname "Mu" with the radical for water. The three characters "wei liao wei" predicted by the divine spirits, perhaps refer to the characters "mu" and "li"?

The divination text by Wu Jingluan, a master of the Song Dynasty, says: There are two dragons in front of Wang Dashan Mountain, which have hidden their tracks for hundreds of miles. They finally reach the place called Wan sui, and pass through Jin Chong, where it becomes clear which one is the male and which is the female dragon. The dragon coming from the direction of 'Shenhou' has also traveled hundreds of miles, disappearing three times. The mountain shape seems like a dragon and a tiger entangled, truly astonishing. To know what official rank this dragon can produce, I will explain one by one: If the directions of 'Shengguang' and 'Shenhou' each have mountains arranged, it indicates that the family will produce generations of high officials in the imperial court. If the two stars 'Tanlang' and 'Wenqu' appear in the form of children, it indicates that the family will produce two officials of the 'Gongcao' rank. If the direction of 'Chuan song' has a strong and clear flowing water, it indicates that a divine child will be born.

The mountains facing each other in the寅 and申 directions indicate a place where one can attain the rank of a marquis, and the official position is in Liangzhou—today's Yunnan belongs to the ancient Liangzhou region. Three 'Luchun' peaks are high and prominent, indicating the emergence of talented scholars with excellent literary skills; however, they do not rely on the imperial examinations but instead hold power over a region for a long time. The mountain shapes connect with the stars 'Tianyi' and 'Taiyi', which usually indicate the emergence of officials serving the court; but because the star 'Yimǎ' (Post Horse) is too prominent, it changes to indicate control over mountains and rivers. The meeting of the two dragons, male and female, should have harmonious forms, but here the forms are not perfectly matched, so they do not follow the path of literature. The directions of寅,申,巳, and亥 all have connections, so prodigies are born—Mu Ying was able to command troops as a young man. This land offers a deep blessing for official success, and even if one spends thousands of gold to seek it, one should not be stingy.

Since Wu Jingluan wrote this record, the people in the village knew there was a great land here, but no one could recognize where the site was. Liao Jinjing came here and at first had no idea where to start. He stayed for more than a month, thinking day and night, and finally found it. He was very happy and wrote a praise poem, which he carved on a stone and buried at the site. Liao Yu's poem said: Two dragons compete to look back, what is their appearance like? Just like the river porpoise rising and falling in the waves, bowing and paying homage. Water from all four sides flows down to the dragon's feet. The master will hold an official position as a general, controlling a region's mountains and rivers.

This piece of land is located five miles south of Taizhou City, known as Zisha Ao. Its dragon originates from Wanghai Peak, then departs from the pavilions and descends through the palaces, displaying a strong and vigorous spirit with clear and unusual bones and veins. When it reaches this site, it suddenly cuts off and gathers the energy, rising abruptly to form a high mountain, creating a "Sun Metal Star" burial site. The burial site is very refined, but its left arm is straight and stiff, extending directly into the bright hall, causing the inner area to be slanted, cramped, and narrow. From the burial site, one cannot see the outer sea. However, due to the extremely strong dragon energy and the highly respected burial star, it is able to retain wind and gather energy, making it a truly excellent site. Outside, there is a "Single Character Literary Star" quietly protecting it, and the water mouth is tightly locked. After burial, seven jinshi (imperial examination top scorers), two magistrates, one vice-minister, and four literary champions have emerged, with a thriving population. One branch has moved away and now resides in Jiangxi, also producing two jinshi. However, it is not favorable for the eldest branch. The author comments that this site is the ancestral tomb of Wang Gong Wang Zongmu, a vice-minister, who has long been blessed with prosperity, producing many talented individuals and great wealth, which is not by chance.

This piece of land is located twenty miles south of the county town, with a local name called Taozhiyuan. Its dragon is the residual energy from the "Diao Qi Long" site of the ten institutes of the Zhang family, identified by the master geomancer Wu Zhongxiang. It extends over here and winds for five miles, then the main ridge splits open from the center. At the entrance, it makes another sharp turn, rising into a star peak shaped like a "Fei Mo" (moth), which confines the energy and forms a substantial site. However, the upper ridge is straight and hard, flowing directly with the water, while the lower ridge is short and contracted, not enclosing more than the upper ridge. This is different from the usual pattern, and this is precisely the auspicious quality of this land. After burial, a person named Zhang Xian, who served as the Minister of Rites, emerged from this site. There is another site nearby, commonly known as the "Snake Shape," but it is merely a wealthy land.

There is a story of doubt: Dong Gong noticed that there were two burial sites, inner and outer. The inner site was most valuable, but its shape was strange and abnormal: on the side of the azure dragon, the terrain was straight and rigid, flowing directly with the water, the lower gate was short and contracted, the site was narrow and cramped, with no view of the bright hall, and it was located in a remote mountain valley at the end of the water source. The outer site, however, had the dragon and tiger formations properly aligned, a wide and level bright hall, and was easy to please ordinary people. Dong Gong thought to himself: if we first choose the outer site, the inner site would certainly be abandoned. Therefore, he first selected the inner site, and after the burial, he then pointed out the outer site. Everyone indeed thought the outer site was good and disliked the inner site. However, He Xunzai from Fengcheng saw the inner site and was greatly amazed, saying: Although this site is ugly, it can produce a Minister of the Ministry of Personnel. Later, it indeed came true.

There are also cases where the celestial energy (曜气) is expressed at the water outlet (水口). For example, the ancestral tomb of the Empress Xie from Linhai belongs to this category. The land shown in the left diagram is located eighty miles north of Taizhou City, in a place called Huangsha. Its dragon (龙) originates from Tianmu Mountain, passes through Xianju, and travels over a hundred miles, with changes such as bone transformation (换骨剥皮), passing through the main meridian (过脉), and opening the account (开帐), which are too numerous to describe. As it approaches the climax of the site, the star peaks (星峰) are all refined and elegant, with the forms of the five elements (金木水火土) and the nine stars (九星) fully present: some rise straight up to the heavens, others lie hidden as if sinking into the earth; large ones spread out horizontally, covering tens of miles; small ones are as fine as silk or thread, or resemble a fist or a cup, so small they seem to have no form. Some curve like a living snake, others are square and resemble a screen or a high platform, each form is extraordinary and skillfully crafted.

When reaching the 'entry point,' the qi line descends from the canopy, hanging down to form a burial site. The two ends of the canopy come around like shoulders, but the right side is slightly thin, while the left sand is too long, flowing past the burial site along the watercourse, appearing cold and unfeeling. This is its unusual characteristic. However, the overall trend is cohesive, with many mountains surrounding it, and the water mouth is tightly controlled in layers. The huabiao, hamen, qin xing, and shou xing are all particularly strange. Therefore, the conclusion states that if there is a mountain shaped like a leopard's tail at the water mouth, it indicates a person who will become a king, establish a military headquarters, and be granted a title. After burial, a queen emerged, who was the empress of Emperor Lizong of Song. The family also produced generals and marquises. The esteemed statesman Xie Qian of the current dynasty, Xie Wenzheng Gong, is indeed a descendant of this family.

This piece of land is located forty miles southeast of Taizhou City, named Shuijia Yangqiangao. Its dragon mountain originates from Xinghaifeng, travels over fifty miles, and reaches Huangtulǐng where the ridge turns, spreading out in layers and passing through several gorges. Then it suddenly forms an "Imperial Screen," with the ridge dropping straight down the center of the screen, turning around to face south, undulating forward in a winding manner, forming the shape of "galloping horses with pearl beads" to reach the site. The site is very unique and elegant. The dragon approaches from the亥 direction and is oriented towards the 丙 direction. Another branch of the dragon body branches off, protecting the site area all the way, forming the "Taiyin Wen Star," serving as the main ridge.
