The handle of the Dipper points to.

This song explains the direction indicated by the divine handle of the Dipper, the Heavenly Gang, and its implications for military fortune. The bracketed text is from old annotations. When the Heavenly Gang points to the position of the Earthly Branch Si, it is called "Heaven and Earth Gate"—by adding the Month General to the hour, when the Heavenly Gang reaches the position of Si, it symbolizes the beginning of heaven and earth. At this time, military campaigns can proceed with ease, leading to great victories and the expansion of territory. When the Heavenly Gang points to Wu, it is suitable to sit in the tent and play the zither—this indicates a state of heaven and earth crossing each other, which is not suitable for military action, but rather for leisurely enjoyment in the tent. When it points to Wei, it is called "small communication," and it is still possible to make decisions; when heaven and earth are slightly connected, military action is favorable. When it points to Shen, there is an image of pressure and conflict; during the time when heaven and earth are in conflict, military operations should be avoided. When it points to You, the horses and soldiers are startled and injured, which is a time when heaven and earth are closed off; vehicles are damaged, horses die, and warfare is extremely dangerous. When it returns to Xu, it indicates discord; military campaigns will cause soldiers to lose unity and damage harmony. When it is added to Hai, it is called "narrow heaven," which is not in harmony with human hearts; military operations will result in injuries and fear. When it points to Zi, the soul disperses halfway, and people's minds are unsettled. When it points to Chou, it is suitable to stay overnight on the way and wait until morning, which is a sign of small communication; military campaigns should advance thirty li and camp, waiting until the next morning to move freely, which will surely lead to great victory. When it reaches Yin, there is joy; travelers will receive good news, and battles will surely result in great success. When it reaches Mao, heaven and earth are closed off; it is suitable for burial and hiding, and other matters are not appropriate. When it reaches Chen, the passageways are blocked; only camping and setting up camps are suitable, and no reckless movements should be made. When arranging military strategies on the palm, one must carefully distinguish these points.

Divination for Lost Paths

When lost at a three-way intersection, observe whether the Heavenly Gang falls on a four-climate (four孟) or four-middle (four仲) position. If encountering a two-way path, refer to thesympathetic response between the Day Stem and the Day Branch to decide. For each direction, follow the appropriate method. Specifically, if at a three-way path and unsure which is auspicious, use the current hour to cast a divination lesson. If the Heavenly Gang is placed on a four-climate position, the left path is passable; if on a four-middle position, the middle path is passable; if on a four-season position, the right path is passable. Following this method, military campaigns will be successful and all desired outcomes will be favorable. If encountering a two-way path, choose the left path if the Day Stem is auspicious, or the right path if the Day Branch is auspicious. For example, if divining in the seventh month at the hour of Shen, place the巳 general on the Earth Plate's position of Shen and count sequentially until the hour of Chen. The Heavenly Gang falls on the Earth Plate's position of Wei. Wei belongs to the four-season position, so it is concluded that the left path is passable (this slightly differs from the previous statement "加季右道通," but follows the original text). Other situations follow the same reasoning. Here, 子, 午, 卯, 酉 are considered four-middle; 寅, 申, 巳, 亥 are four-climate; 辰, 戌, 丑, 未 are four-season.

Secret visit

If one wishes to find out about thieves, it is auspicious to go to the direction of 「Tianmu」 to listen and investigate. 「Tianmu」 refers to the directions where the Month Generals of Da Ji and Xiao Ji are located. If one wishes to inquire about confidential matters, one should go to the direction of 「Di'er」, without hesitation. 「Di'er」 refers to the directions where the Month Generals of Tai Chong and Cong Kuai are located. The method of crossing a river: in the sky there are 「San He」, which are the positions of Ren, Zi, and Gui; on the ground there are 「San Jing」, which are the positions of Mao, You, and Chen. After determining the Month General and the time, one should look at the three rivers. If any of the rivers are adjacent to the well positions, crossing the river will certainly result in a shipwreck. It is also said: 「If Tai Chong is placed on the Day Branch, it indicates the occurrence of wind and rain; if Shen Hou is placed on the position of the four seasons, it is auspicious to cross the river.」

Cutting food to seek water

If my army wishes to seize the enemy's supplies, it should go to the areas where the generals Da Ji and Xiao Ji are stationed to investigate. If my army wishes to find water, it should go to the areas where the generals Xiao Ji and Tai Chong are stationed to search, because Xiao Ji and Tai Chong are the deities of wells and springs, and water will certainly be found in the ground where they are stationed. To determine the truthfulness of the enemy's envoy's words: when the enemy sends an envoy, observe the day stem and the hour stem. The day stem represents the envoy, and the hour stem represents my side. If the deity on the day stem overcomes the deity on the hour stem (i.e., the day stem overcomes the hour stem), then the envoy's words are false and should not be trusted. If the deity on the hour stem overcomes the deity on the day stem, then the enemy is certainly afraid of my side, and the words spoken are true. If the deities Zhu Que, Tian Kong, and Tai Yin are riding on the day stem or the hour stem: if they ride on the day stem, it indicates the enemy is deceitful; if they ride on the hour stem, it indicates my side is deceitful.

Break through the encirclement.

If surrounded by enemy troops, do not panic. Use the Heavenly Gang (tian gang) determined by adding the Month General (yue jiang) to the hour to find the direction for breaking through. An old commentary cites the words of Tai Gong: "Even if surrounded by enemies for a thousand li, the path of the 'dou' will certainly be open." Here, "dou" refers to the Heavenly Gang. By adding the Month General to the hour to find the Heavenly Gang, the next actual position beneath it is the way to break through. If there is no way to escape in the direction of the Heavenly Gang, then seek the "Three Officials' Hours," which refer to the hours of Hai, Zi, and Chou. If it is the "Jiangguan" (Crimson Hall), then break through from the directions of Shen and You—when the hour of Hai arrives at the positions of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You, it is Jiangguan, and one should break out towards the directions of Shen and You on the Heaven Plate. If it is "Mingtang" (Bright Hall), then go towards the direction of Tai Chong—when Zi arrives at the positions of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You, it is Mingtang, and one should break out towards the direction of Mao on the Heaven Plate. If it is "Yutang" (Jade Hall), then break out from the direction of Tian Gui (Xu)—when Chou arrives at the positions of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You, it is Yutang, and one should break out towards the direction of Xu. The sharpness is like the eight extremes spreading out—when encountering powerful and unyielding enemies, one can still break through towards the direction of the Heavenly Gang, which is called "Bajie Zhang." If the Day Branch and the general above it are in mutual generation, it is auspicious—whether or not there is injury depends on yin and yang. If the Day Branch and the general above it are in mutual generation, it is favorable. If they are in mutual control, there will be immediate injury—when the Day Branch and the general above it are in mutual control, and the general above controls the Day Branch, there will certainly be injury, and those who use military force should be cautious and deliberate.

Investigate the location of the thief.

If thieves are suspected but their location is unknown, one can use the Month General combined with the hour to determine their position. In spring, use Yi; in summer, use Ding; in autumn, use Xin; and in winter, use Gui. The Yi stem's Lodging Palace is in Chen, and the Ding stem's Lodging Palace is in Wei. The Xin stem's Lodging Palace is in Xu, and the Gui stem's Lodging Palace is in Chou. These positions are called "Heaven's Eye." Thieves are hidden beneath the Heaven's Eye. The method involves combining the Month General with the hour to locate the Heaven's Eye. The Heaven's Eye is located in Chen in spring, in Wei in summer, in Xu in autumn, and in Chou in winter. When inquiring in spring, look for Chen; for other seasons, follow the same pattern.

Draw troops to avoid the enemy

When the enemy is strong and we are still weak, the old commentary says this refers to encountering military bandits on the way. In such a situation, we should withdraw our troops and first look at where the Heavenly Gang falls. By adding the Month General to the hour, we determine which palace the Heavenly Gang falls into, and then we should avoid the enemy's strength accordingly. If the Heavenly Gang falls into the four Clans, we should hide on the right side. For example, if the Heavenly Gang is at Chen, and it is added to the Clans of Yin, Shen, Si, or Hai, we should avoid through the right. If the Heavenly Gang falls into the four Middle or four Seasons, we should hide on the left. The four Middle are Zi, Wu, Mao, and You, and the four Seasons are Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei. If the Heavenly Gang falls into these positions, we should hide on the left, which will not be wrong. The three places of Congui, Xiaojí, and Taichong are called the "Three Heavenly Doors." The three gods, You (Congui), Wei (Xiaojí), and Mao (Taichong), are the "Three Heavenly Doors." When combined with the four positions of Du, Wei, Kai, and Ding, they form the "Heavenly Gate and Earthly Gate" for protection. The three gods on the Heaven Plate are favorable positions. By adding the Month General to the hour, we determine where the Heaven Plate's Mao, You, and Wei fall, and we can go there to take refuge. However, we should not go to the direction that is currently flourishing, for example, we should not go east in spring. The rest can be inferred similarly. Da Ji and Shenhou are also called "Zifang" and "Huagai," which can hide all things. If we go to these places, there will be no harm, as others will not be able to search us out. Da Ji is Zifang, and Shenhou is Huagai.

Mountain-Pressing Palm

The nine palace positions in the Mountain Hand method are: Qian (Heaven) at six, Dui (Lake) at seven, Gen (Mountain) at eight, and Li (Fire) at nine in the upper row; the Central Palace at five in the middle; Xun (Wind) at four, Zhen (Thunder) at three, Kun (Earth) at two, and Kan (Water) at one in the lower row. The method starts counting from the Zhen (Thunder) Palace on the Jiazi day in a clockwise direction. The rhyme says: The Vermilion Bird has a red beak and a body of one zhang two chi, its eyes shine like copper bells with fiery light. It can harm people without cause, and can fly thousands of li across rivers. On Yichou day, the count proceeds clockwise to the Xun (Wind) Palace; on days reaching the Central Palace, moving house is forbidden; on days reaching the Qian (Heaven) Palace, installing a bed is forbidden; on days reaching the Dui (Lake) Palace, digging a well is forbidden; on days reaching the Gen (Mountain) Palace, building or repairing temples or monasteries is forbidden; on days reaching the Li (Fire) Palace, moving the main door is forbidden; on days reaching the Kan (Water) Palace, digging a ditch will bring great danger; on days reaching the Kun (Earth) Palace, marriage will harm the head of the family; on days reaching the Zhen (Thunder) Palace, repairing the kitchen will cause the new bride's death; on days reaching the Xun (Wind) Palace, it concerns mountain and forest matters, and nine out of ten people will suffer. For example: On Jiazi day, counting starts from the Zhen (Thunder) Palace; on Yichou day, the count reaches the Xun (Wind) Palace, and mountain and forest activities are forbidden; on Bingyin day, the count reaches the Central Palace, and moving house is forbidden; on Dingmao day, the count reaches the Qian (Heaven) Palace, and installing a bed is forbidden; on Wuchen day, the count reaches the Dui (Lake) Palace, and digging a well is forbidden. The rest of the days follow the same pattern.

Guiguzi's Nine Immortal Numbers

This is the mnemonic for assigning numbers to the heavenly stems based on the Yellow River Chart: Jia and Ji stems are paired with Zi and Wu branches, both counting as nine; Yi and Geng stems are paired with Chou and Wei branches, both counting as eight; Bing and Xin stems are paired with Yin and Shen branches, both counting as seven; Ding and Ren stems are paired with Mao and You branches, both counting as six; Wu and Gui stems are paired with Chen and Xu branches, both counting as five; Si and Hai branches originally count as four. The method is: on a day, both the heavenly stem and earthly branch are used to count numbers; for an hour, only the earthly branch is used. For example, on a Jiazi day at Wei hour, Jia counts nine, Zi also counts nine, and Wei counts eight. The total number from the stem and branch pairing is twenty-six, which corresponds to "Great Auspicious Immortal" in the following text. All other days and hours are calculated in the same way.

The auspicious migration of the inauspicious deity, combined with the numerical calculation.

Using the total calculated by the above method, each number is paired with a deity, and their fortune is as follows: thirteen is "Riguang Xian" (Sunlight Immortal), auspicious; fourteen is "Ritian Xian" (Heavenly Sun Immortal), auspicious (the "Xieji Bianfangshu" records it as "Dahuo Shen" (Great Harm Deity), which is inauspicious); fifteen is "Yueguang Xian" (Moonlight Immortal), auspicious; sixteen is "Jinyu Xian" (Golden Jade Immortal), auspicious; seventeen is "Memen Xian" (Family Destruction Immortal), inauspicious; eighteen is "Tiande Xian" (Heavenly Virtue Immortal), auspicious; nineteen is "Tianxiong Shen" (Heavenly Harm Deity), inauspicious; twenty is "Dixiong Shen" (Earthly Harm Deity), inauspicious; twenty-one is "Jigu Xian" (National Sacrifice Immortal), inauspicious; twenty-two is "Dizang Xian" (Earth Store Immortal), auspicious; twenty-three is "Sangmen Shen" (Funeral Gate Deity), inauspicious; twenty-four is "Nixing Shen" (Reverse Immortal), auspicious (the "Xieji Bianfangshu" records it as "Songfu Shen" (Favorable Sending Deity), also considered auspicious); twenty-five is "Dasha Xian" (Great Good Immortal), auspicious; twenty-six is "Dajiji Xian" (Great Auspicious Immortal), auspicious; twenty-seven is "Diaoke Shen" (Funeral Guest Deity), inauspicious.

Yellow and Black Path days and times

Whenever the month or day is Zi or Wu, the Azure Dragon begins at Shen position, which is what the phrase "Zi and Wu start from Shen" means. When the month or day is Chou or Wei, the Azure Dragon begins at Xu position, as stated in the mnemonic "Chou and Wei seek Xu." When the month or day is Yin or Shen, the Azure Dragon begins at Zi position, as in "Yin and Shen reside at Zi." When the month or day is Mao or You, the Azure Dragon begins at Yin position, as in "Mao and You add at Yin." When the month or day is Chen or Xu, the Azure Dragon begins at Chen position, as in "Chen and Xu on the Dragon's position." When the month or day is Si or Hai, the Azure Dragon begins at Wu position, as in "Si and Hai move in Wu." For example, the 26th day of the first month is Gengxu day, and the first month is built on Yin. The "Dao" character starts at Zi position, and when counting to Xu position, it meets the "Huan" character, making this day a Yellow Path day. Then, using the Xu day to calculate the time, starting from Chen position with the "Dao" character, when reaching Si position, it meets the "Yuan" character; Shen and You positions meet "Tong" and "Da" respectively; Hai position meets "Yao"; and Yin position meets "Huan." Therefore, the times at Chen, Si, Shen, You, Hai, and Yin are all Yellow Path times. The rest of the days and times follow the same pattern.

The order of the twelve deities is: Qinglong, Mingtang, Tianxing, Zhuque, Jin gui, Tiande, Baihu, Yutang, Tianlao, Yuanwu, Siming, and Gouchen. Among them, Qinglong, Mingtang, Jin gui, Tiande, Yutang, and Siming belong to the Yellow Path, while Tianxing, Zhuque, Baihu, Tianlao, Yuanwu, and Gouchen belong to the Black Path. A mnemonic verse for easy memorization is: "Dao yuan, tong da, dao yao, huan xiang." These twelve characters are assigned to the twelve deities in order. The positions where the characters "Dao, yuan, tong, da, yao, huan" fall are considered the Yellow Path, and the positions where the remaining characters fall are considered the Black Path. As for the method of determining the Yellow and Black Paths on specific days: in January and July, the count starts from the Zi position; in February and August, from the Yin position; in March and September, from the Chen position; in April and October, from the Wu position; in May and November, from the Shen position; and in June and December, from the Xu position. If the position falls on the Yellow Path, it is considered auspicious; if it falls on the Black Path, it is considered inauspicious.

Three Virtues of a Favorable Direction

The three virtues (Yang Virtue, Yin Virtue, and Human Virtue) determine auspicious directions, which are arranged according to the Day Branch. The Day Branches in order are Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, Hai. The corresponding "Yang Virtue direction" in order are Bing, Bing, Bing, Geng, Geng, Geng, Ren, Ren, Ren, Jia, Jia, Jia, with each set of three branches corresponding to one Heavenly Stem. The "Yin Virtue direction" in order are Yi, Yi, Geng, Ding, Ding, Ren, Xin, Xin, Jia, Gui, Gui, Bing. The "Human Virtue direction" in order are Geng, Xin, Qian, Ren, Gui, Gen, Jia, Yi, Xun, Bing, Ding, Kun. Whenever one is to handle affairs, travel far, or visit officials and noblemen, one should depart from the Yin Virtue direction, enter the Yang Virtue direction, and then proceed through the Human Virtue direction. If one is to avoid misfortune, one should depart from the Yang Virtue direction and proceed through the Human Virtue direction. Even if one encounters danger along the way, it will be transformed into good fortune.

The direction of the Joyful Deity

The direction of the Joy God is selected based on the day stem. For Jia day and Ji day, the Joy God is in the directions of Yin and Mao; for Yi day and Geng day, the Joy God is strongest in the directions of Chen and Xu; for Bing day and Xin day, the Joy God is in the directions of Shen and You; for Wu day and Gui day, the Joy God is in the directions of Si and Hai; for Ding day and Ren day, the Joy God is in the directions of Wu and Wei. This is where the Joy God is located. For example, on Jia day and Ji day, the directions of Yin and Mao are where the Joy God is; the other days follow the same pattern. Whenever going out for a long journey or gambling, one should move in the direction of the Joy God.

"The term 'Jealous Yin Mansion' refers to the years' heavenly stems that are to be avoided for each group of mountains and directions. Monthly Malevolent Stars

The "Monthly Malevolent Stars" rhyme says: Heavenly malevolent stars are not under human control; in January and July they appear on the "closed" day, in February and August on the "collection" day, in March and September on the "danger" day, in April and October on the "restraint" day, in May and November on the "peace" day, and in June and December on the "removal" day. If one takes up a position or seeks official rank on these days, everything will be in vain. The "Rhyme for Determining the Duration of the Sun's Appearance and Disappearance" says: In January and September, the sun rises in the direction of Bing and sets in the direction of Geng; in February and August, it rises in the direction of Mao (Rabbit) and sets in the direction of You (Rooster); in March and July, it rises in the direction of Jia and sets in the direction of Xin; in April and June, it rises in the direction of Yin and sets in the direction of Xu; in May, it rises in the direction of Gen and sets in the direction of Qian; in November, it rises in the direction of Xun and sets in the direction of Kun; only in October and December does it rise in the direction of Chen and set in the direction of Shen. These distinctions must be carefully noted. The "Rhyme for Determining the Time of Yin Hour" says: In January and September, the Yin hour begins at 3:40 a.m. (the fourth watch); in February and August, at 2:20 a.m. (the second watch); in March and July, when the sky is just beginning to brighten; in April and June, at sunrise; in May, when the sun is three feet high; in October and December, at 2:20 a.m. (the second watch); and in November, at the beginning of the fourth watch. These are the boundaries of the Yin hour for each month, and they must be remembered.

The Eight Gates Divination Manual

When engaging in business, one should go out from the Life Gate; to apprehend a criminal, one must take the Death Door. For inquiries about distant travel, one should go through the Open Door. To pay homage to the king, the Xiu Men is most suitable. To collect debts, using the Shang Men often brings satisfaction. If one needs to hide, one should go through the Du Men. Capturing people and going to court should use the Jing Door. When presenting strategies or attending banquets, one should go through the Jing Gate. The second part says: To meet a nobleman or visit officials, one should use the Open Door. To seek wealth and profit, one should go to the Xiu Men. To avoid danger and seek official positions, one should go through the Life Gate. The Shang Men can be used to collect debts. To search for people or visit old friends, one should meet the Jing Gate. For fishing and hunting, one should use the Death Door. Capturing thieves and criminals is also best done through the Death Door. As for the Du Men, if someone or something is lost through this gate, it will never be recovered.

The Method of Isolation and Deficiency

The Duke of Yellow Stone said: "Attacking the empty position from the isolated position, a single woman can resist ten people." The ancient method is: for a group of ten, take the isolated position from the hour; for a hundred, take it from the day; for a thousand, from the month; and for ten thousand, from the year. Among these, the isolated position from the hour is the most accurate. The method to determine isolated and empty positions is: in the Jiazi decade,戌 and亥 are isolated, and辰 and巳 are empty; in the Jiaxu decade,申 and酉 are isolated, and寅 and卯 are empty; the rest of the decades follow the same pattern. As for the enhancement of combat effectiveness, it depends on the strength of the qi: when in the旺盛 phase, the effect is ten times; in the 相 phase, five times; in the 休 phase, it is the same as the original number; in the 囚 phase, it is reduced; and in the Death Qi phase, it is halved.

Games of chance and competition, with outcomes of victory and defeat.

The Golden Chest says: "Whether you gain something or gain nothing, it depends on the concept of 'gu xu'." This means that when playing樗蒲, chess, or gambling, one should determine the 'gu xu' based on the current hour and the six jia periods. The person sitting in the 'gu' position will win, while the person sitting in the 'xu' position will lose. One should also refer to the Three Marvels and favorable gates, and align the handle of the Big Dipper with the Heavenly Gang to point towards the opponent, ensuring victory. Regarding the "Five Imperial Prosperity Directions": in January, May, and September, sit facing north with the back to the south, and achieve great success; in February, June, and October, sit facing west with the back to the east, and achieve great success; in March, July, and November, sit facing south with the back to the north, and achieve great success; in April, August, and December, sit facing east with the back to the west, and achieve great success.

Discussing Ascending Difficult Terrain and Perilous Situations

The classic text says: mountainous areas with high peaks and deep valleys, and vast boundaries are called "jue." Places where mountains are crossed and clouds are misty are called "tianlao." Areas that block the movement of troops are called "tianluo"; "jianjia" refers to clusters of wild grass; "huang" refers to ponds; "xian" refers to difficult and urgent terrain; areas with water between high and low ground, and depressions forming pits are called "tianjing"; "yihui" refers to places where vegetation blocks the view. In such terrain, troops cannot move freely, and enemies approach from advantageous positions. Then one should observe the heavenly timing: if it is a yang time, order soldiers to expose their left shoulders, raise their voices loudly, and strike drums and bells to launch an attack first.

If it is a yin hour, command the soldiers to bite a piece of wood in their mouths, have the chariots and horses stand still, and have the soldiers and horses hold their mallets waiting for the drum signal, quietly waiting for the right opportunity. If the enemy surrounds from all sides, the cavalry should be divided into three parts: one part stationed at the position of the month builder, one part at the position of the monthly virtue (another version says at the positions of the daily virtue and monthly virtue), and one part at the position of the life gate—the so-called life gate refers to the "open" day of the month builder. The conflicting hour is where the death qi is located. The monthly virtue starts from the Wei position in the first month and proceeds in a clockwise direction. The daily virtue starts from the Hai position in the first month and proceeds in a counterclockwise direction. The hourly virtue corresponds to the hours of Hai, Zi, and Chou with the positions of Shen, You, and Xu, and the hours of Si, Wu, and Wei with the position of Yin, reaching the position of Mao at the twelfth position for victory. Another version says: "The general should sit at the position of Tingting to command a great victory." The term "shengshen" in the text is sometimes written as "shengmen."

Wang Zhang said, "Tingting is a noble deity from heaven." The method is to attack the position opposite to it while facing away from it. To find the position, use the month general added to the hour, and the position where Shenhou (the child) falls is Tingting. The rhyme says, "Always attack from this position its opposite." For example, after the rain water festival in the first lunar month, when the sun has passed the Hai palace, use Dengming as the heavenly month general—the term "general" here refers to the sun. If the action takes place at noon, place the month general Hai on the position of Wu, then add Zi to the position of Wei, so Tingting is at Wei. It is appropriate to sit facing away from this position and attack its opposite direction. Another method: on the first day of the month, Tingting is at Si; on the second day, it is at Wei, and then proceeds in order through the twelve palaces.

White Malevolent is a malevolent deity from heaven, which combines with Si and Hai, and conflicts with Yin and Shen. When it is in a harmonious position, it is suitable to have one's back to it; when it is in a conflicting position, one should face White Malevolent while having one's back to a tall structure. To find White Malevolent, place the Month General on the hour, and look for the four young deities, Yin, Shen, Si, and Hai, in the three trines of Yin, Wu, and Xu. The place where these four young deities appear is where White Malevolent is located. For example, during the Rain Water period of the first lunar month, when the sun passes through the Hai palace, if the action takes place at the hour of Wu, place Dengming with Hai as the Month General on Wu. Hai is located on Wu, which is the method to determine White Malevolent in Wu. Another method: on days of Yin, Wu, and Xu, White Malevolent is in Hai; on days of Hai, Mao, and Wei, White Malevolent is in Yin; on days of Shen, Zi, and Chen, White Malevolent is in Si; on days of Si, You, and Chou, White Malevolent is in Shen.

Following the order of the nine palaces, the Xiu Men changes every three days. When setting up the layout, the center palace (middle five palace) is excluded. After determining the position of the Xiu Men, the positions of the other gates are determined based on the eight trigrams.
