客星入攝提座，謀臣在側，聖人受制。出大角，兵起，天下亂。若守之二十日已上，王者惡之，國易政，期三年。干犯天市，所犯者誅。干犯帝座，人民大亂，宮朝徙大臣，期三年。守東西咸，人主淫泱失道。

If a guest star branches out from the "Dàjiǎo" star, it signifies the outbreak of military conflicts and great chaos throughout the country; if it remains at Dàjiǎo for more than twenty days, the monarch will dislike this omen, and the country will change its ruling power, with the fulfillment period being three years. If a guest star invades the "Tiàshìyuán" constellation, the person corresponding to the star that is invaded will be executed. If a guest star stays at the "Dōngxián" and "Xīxián" stars, it indicates that the monarch will indulge in pleasures, lose the correct path.

Warfare breaks out everywhere,夷tribes invade, yet the country's army cannot be deployed, and there are also famines, plagues, and deaths.

凡戰，兩軍相當，執本者勝；隨彗所指處以討之焉。彗星有行有止，行者則事小，止者則事大，各在邦以直事國分占之。

Whenever two armies are evenly matched in battle, the side that occupies the body of the comet will prevail. One should attack the enemy in the direction indicated by the comet's tail. Some comets move continuously, while others remain stationary. Those that move continuously have smaller effects, while those that remain stationary have greater effects. Each should be judged according to its position, in relation to the current affairs and the corresponding regions of the states.

A comet emerging from the 「Root mansion」 signifies a great amnesty across the land; if it obscures the light of the 「Root mansion」, it indicates severe epidemic diseases, a sharp rise in grain prices, and the outbreak of warfare. A comet or forked star rising from the 「Root mansion」 signifies the Son of Heaven experiencing unrest within the palace, being forced to relocate, a deficiency in virtue, and the alteration of policies.

The event will occur within seven days, or seventy days, or up to one hundred and eighty days. If a comet emerges from the "Heart Mansion" and stops there, it signifies the death of the king, the inability to implement virtue and law, a large outbreak of locusts, famine among the people, and mass migration. The event will occur within one year, or up to six years.

There will be much construction work during this time. This will be fulfilled within 180 days, or within a year. If a comet splits from the Winnowing Basket mansion, it indicates disturbances by barbarian tribes, large-scale military conflicts, a great drought across the land, rice prices rising tenfold, and severe famine. If a comet remains in the Winnowing Basket mansion, it indicates that the tribes living in low-lying, damp areas along waterways in the eastern barbarian regions will rebel.

If the comet appears and invades the 「Rooftop Mansion」, it indicates that the country has rebels, leading to major military conflicts, with generals going to war, or there will be a great flood and people suffering from famine, and this will come to pass within three years. If a comet and a forked star invade the 「Rooftop Mansion」, it indicates that the country has rebels, leading to the rise of military conflicts, with a general leading troops on campaign.

If a comet and a forked star appear between the Stomach mansion and the Hairy Head mansion, it indicates the outbreak of military conflicts in a great country.

If a comet appears in the Turtle Beak mansion, it certainly indicates the destruction of a country, the disorder of the army, and the death of people due to crimes.

If a comet appears from the 「Faval」 star within the 「Three Stars」 mansion, it indicates that the emperor's army will be overwhelming, ministers will plot rebellion, the emperor will face troubles, and the emperor himself will take up arms. There will be extensive use of axes and punishments, troops will move along the royal road, and bows and arrows will be kept ready for a long time. This will come to pass within three years, at the furthest five years. If a comet or孛 star flows into the 「Well」 mansion or branches out from it, it indicates that military actions will arise in that year. A comet invading the 「Well」 mansion indicates that ministers will be executed, and the country will mobilize its military forces. This will come to pass within 180 days.

A broom-like comet appearing between the Star Mansion and the Extended Net Mansion, shaped like a piece of cloth fluttering and falling with the wind, serves as a warning of military disturbances, indicating an abnormality of the Malefic of Violence (Mars). A comet appearing between the Star Mansion and the Extended Net Mansion, shaped like a flame in rising smoke, also signifies military calamity, and is similarly an abnormality of the Malefic of Violence (Mars).

彗干犯張，其國內外用兵，主徙宮，天下半亡。彗出張，大旱，谷石三千。彗干犯翼，其國用兵，大臣為憂，遠期百八十日。彗出翼軫之間，天下皆謀上，國有大喪，人主死亡，必有大兵，期其不出三年。彗出翼，其國有兵，若有喪，以水為飢，人多流亡，所指有降伏，期五年。

A comet appearing in the mansion of Wings indicates military action or mourning in the country, possibly due to flooding causing famine, with many people fleeing their homes. The direction indicated by the comet's tail will see people surrendering, and the fulfillment of this omen will take five years.

彗孛干犯軫，兵喪並起，近期百八十日，遠一年。彗出軫，天子崩，兵喪並起，滿宮門，車馬無主，人無定居，期三年，中五年，遠九年。王者以赦除咎，則災消也。

A comet emerging from Dàjiǎo — Dàjiǎo is the throne of the celestial emperor. During the time of Qin Shihuang, a comet emerged from Dàjiǎo, causing the Dàjiǎo star to disappear, which was a sign of the Qin dynasty's impending downfall.

彗犯天市，地震。（一雲天紀。）彗干天市，所犯者誅。彗孛犯宦者，中外有兵。彗干犯帝座，民大亂，宮廟徙，大臣憂，期三年。彗出東西咸，女主淫泱自恣，宮門不禁，若貴女有憂。

When a comet invades the "Heavenly Market Enclosure," the person corresponding to the star it invades will be executed. When a comet invades the "Imperial Seat" star, it indicates great disorder among the people, relocation of palaces and ancestral temples, and anxiety among senior ministers, with the event occurring within three years. When a comet splits from the "Eastern Harmony" and "Western Harmony" stars, it indicates that the female ruler is licentious and reckless, the palace gates lose their guards, or there is sorrow among noble women.

彗干歷天江，大兵攻王國，王者以赦解之，則國豐年。彗孛干犯建，王者失道，忠言誅，賢士逃亡。彗孛犯離珠，後宮為亂，若宮人有誅。若守之陽，為大旱；守之陰，為大水，五穀不登，人民飢。

If a comet invades the star Lizu, it indicates disorder in the harem or execution of palace attendants. If the comet remains to the south of Lizu (the yang position), it indicates a severe drought; if it remains to the north (the yin position), it indicates a great flood, poor harvest of grain, and hunger among the people.

魏陳留咸熙二年五月，彗見王良，長丈餘，色白，東南指，十二日滅。占曰：王良，天子御馳；彗掃之，除舊佈新之象也。色白為喪，王良在東壁次，又幷州之分野，八月晉文王薨，十二月帝遜位於晉。

In the second year of Xianxi of the Cao Wei Dynasty, in the fifth month, a comet appeared at the star "Wangliang," extending more than a zhang in length, white in color, with a tail pointing to the southeast. It disappeared twelve days later. The divination text says: Wangliang represents the emperor's chariot and his swift movement; a comet sweeping over it signifies the removal of the old and the establishment of the new. White color indicates mourning. The star Wangliang is located in the constellation of the Wall Mansion and belongs to the division of Bingzhou. In that same year, in the eighth month, Prince Wenwang Sima Zhao died; in the twelfth month, the emperor of Wei abdicated in favor of the Jin Dynasty.

彗出天大將軍，兵大起，將軍出，旗鼓陳。若守之，大將死，若有誅，期不出三年。彗孛干犯五車，兵滿野，天下半傾，百姓徙居，去其鄉土，期三年。

If a comet emerges from the star Nan He, it indicates military uprising in the southern regions of Man and Yue, with worries at the border garrisons, or officials at the border being punished. If a comet remains at Nan He, it signifies a great drought; if it remains at Bei He, it indicates rebellion by northern Hu people invading the Central Plains. If the comet stays for a long time without departing, the Hu troops will instead suffer defeat.

彗干犯五諸侯，王室大亂，兵起，天子宮廟不祀。彗出五諸侯，執政臣有誅，若有被戮者，貴人當之，主有憂，期一年，遠五年。彗孛干犯積水，兵起宮門，宗廟毀絕，大臣有憂。彗孛干犯積薪，有亂臣在宗廟。

If a comet invades the 'Accumulated Water' star, it indicates military conflicts starting at the palace gate, the destruction and abandonment of the ancestral temple, and worries for the ministers. If a comet invades the 'Accumulated Firewood' star, it indicates a rebellious minister lurking within the ancestral temple.

If a comet invades the Xuanyan star, it indicates great chaos throughout the country and a change of ruler. The timing of the event can be determined by the five colors of the comet. If a comet appears in Xuanyan or stays there, it indicates great chaos and a change of ruler, with palace gates needing to be closed, or the death of a female ruler. The event will occur within three years, at the furthest five years.

彗孛干犯少微，白衣聚，王者凶，術士不顯，智者逃亡，期三年。彗出少微，多能臣有戮者，若功臣有罪，一曰：法令臣有誅者。彗出少微，士大夫起。

A comet or meteor invading the star "Shao Wei" indicates that there will be a gathering of scholars without official rank, danger for the sovereign, failure for those skilled in esoteric arts to achieve prominence, and wise individuals fleeing to avoid the world. This omen will be fulfilled within three years. When a comet appears in the direction of Shao Wei, it suggests that many talented ministers may be killed, or meritorious officials may be punished. Another interpretation is that officials responsible for law and order may be executed. The appearance of a comet in the direction of Shao Wei also indicates that officials and scholars may take action to intervene in government affairs.

彗孛干太微，天下亂，有兵喪，大人惡之，以色占期，亦為死王。彗孛干歷太微，所歷者亡。出而孛太微，天下亂，不過三五年，必易政，以色占期，亦為徙王。彗如粉絮，入太微，守五帝座，國有崩喪，大臣立，天下亂，大兵起，若犯守四帝座，輔臣有誅，執政者亡，期三年。

A comet and a孛 star invade the Taimei垣, indicating chaos throughout the realm, military conflicts and deaths, which greatly distress important people. By observing the color of the stars, one can predict the time of occurrence, and it also signifies the death of the monarch. If the comet and孛 star invade and pass through the various stars of the Taimei垣, the person corresponding to the star that the comet passes through will perish. If a comet appears and its孛-like aura invades the Taimei垣, it indicates chaos throughout the realm, but within three to five years, there will certainly be a change in the ruling power. By observing the color of the stars, one can predict the time of occurrence, and it also signifies the migration of the monarch. If the comet appears in a shape like scattered cotton and enters the Taimei垣, staying at the 'Five Emperors' seat, it indicates the country will experience the death of important figures, ministers will establish a new monarch, chaos will occur throughout the realm, and large-scale military conflicts will arise. If the comet invades and stays at the four cardinal directions' imperial seats, it indicates the ministers who assist the monarch will be executed, and the person in power will perish, with the event occurring within three years.

大彗干犯五帝座，王者亡，子孫不昌，王者修孝於天，奉宗廟郊祠則災除。狀如帚，正赤，抵內屏，兵也。彗出內屏，守衛臣有誅，若有罪執法者當之。彗孛干犯北辰，天下有大喪。

彗孛干犯北斗，有殺罰。春秋時，有孛干於北斗，則齊、魯、晉、鄭、宋、莒之君並殺亂之禍。孛東方，則楚滅，三家、田氏分篡齊魯。漢文帝末，孛西方，後吳楚六國反，而誅滅亡。晉太始末至太康初，災異數見而晉氏隆盛，吳實滅亡，天變在吳可知矣。昔漢高三年，孛大角。大角，項王以亡，漢氏無事，此項王先受命也。吳晉之時，天下橫分，大角孛而吳亡，與項氏事同。

The Big Dipper is the star of the imperial throne, and thus Xiang Yu was defeated, while the Han dynasty remained unharmed, because Xiang Yu had already lost the mandate of heaven. When Wu and Jin were in opposition, the country was split into eastern and western parts. When the Big Dipper was invaded by a comet, Wu was destroyed, which was the same as the case with Xiang Yu.

魏正始六年八月戊午，彗見七星，長可二尺，色白，進至張，積二十三日滅。九年三月見昴，長六尺，色青白，西南指。七月見翼，長二尺，進至軫，積四十二日滅。占曰：七星、張為周分野，翼、軫為楚，昴為趙魏。彗所以除舊佈新，主兵喪。嘉平元年，司馬懿誅曹爽兄弟及其黨與，皆夷三族，京師嚴兵。三年，誅楚王彪，又襲王凌於淮南。淮南，東楚也，魏諸王幽於鄴。

In the third month of the ninth year of Zhengshi, a comet appeared in the 'Hairy Head' mansion, measuring six chi in length, with a bluish-white color and a tail pointing to the southwest. In the seventh month, it appeared in the 'Wings' mansion, measuring two chi in length, and moved on to the 'Chariot' mansion, disappearing after forty-two days. The divination text says: the 'Seven Stars' and 'Extended Net' mansions correspond to the territory of the Zhou dynasty, while the 'Wings' and 'Chariot' mansions belong to the Chu territory, and the 'Hairy Head' mansion belongs to the states of Zhao and Wei. The meaning of a comet is to remove the old and bring forth the new, indicating military affairs and mourning events. In the first year of Jiaping, Sima Yi executed Cao Cao's brother Cao Shuang and his associates, exterminating their three families, and the capital was placed on high alert with troops deployed. In the third year of Jiaping, the Prince of Chu, Cao Biao, was executed, and there was an attack on Wang Ling in the Huainan region—Huainan is the eastern part of Chu territory. After this, all the princes of Cao Wei were imprisoned in Yecheng.
