When the moon invades the stars of Dongxian and Xixian, it indicates disorder caused by licentiousness, leading to calamity and secret plots. If the moon invades Dongxian, there will certainly be thieves. (In the twentieth year of Emperor Xiaowu of the Jin Dynasty, in the fourth month, the moon invaded Dongxian; the internal historian of Wujun, Wang Qin, mobilized the people and put the city on alert for possible disturbances, and the prefectures of Wuxing and others followed suit and became bandits.) When the moon invades Tianjiang star, it indicates a great flood and blockage of passes and bridges. When the moon shows an anomaly in the star of the construction, it indicates that there will be a rebellious minister who alters the sovereign's laws; another interpretation is that a close minister or a great general will die, and the ministers will be replaced.
When the moon invades the Tian Bian star, it indicates that grain prices will rise, with each invasion causing another increase. When the moon invades the He Gu star, invading the left star signifies the death of the left general, and invading the right star signifies the death of the right general; the person corresponding to the star that is affected will be executed, and there will be military defeat. Another interpretation is that warfare will break out across the land. Liu Xiang's recorded interpretation of the five planets invading the Five Stars of the Chariot is the same as this. When the moon invades the Tian Guan star, it indicates the presence of a rebellious minister who alters the emperor's laws, officials in charge of checkpoints and ferry crossings will be punished, and the sovereign will have worries. When the moon invades the Nan He Jie star, it indicates misfortune for the Central States. When the moon invades the five feudal lords stars, it indicates that the feudal lords will be executed. (In the third year of Emperor Xiaowu of Song, in April, the moon invaded the five feudal lords stars; at that time, Prince Liu Dan of Jingling rebelled and was defeated and captured by Shen Qingzhi.)
The moon entering the Xuanyuan star and infringing upon or overpowering it indicates rebellion by bandits, worries for the female ruler, or a fire. If the moon infringes upon the left or right angle stars of Xuanyuan, it signifies that a minister will be executed. If it overpowers the Great People star, there will be a great famine and people from the empress dowager's family will be executed; if there is a crime and the moon also infringes upon the head star of Xuanyuan, it indicates rebellion by ministers, chaos in the court, and ministers losing power. As for which specific star is involved, the person affected should be identified according to the official position associated with that star. If the moon infringes upon or overpowers the Lesser People star, it indicates a minor famine and small-scale migration, with people from the empress's family being executed; if there is a crime and the moon also infringes upon the Imperial Concubine star, it indicates worries for the imperial concubine and death of the palace servant. If the moon infringes upon the Great Star of Xuanyuan, the effect is on the female ruler. (In the third year of Yuanxing of Emperor Jianwen, in April, the moon covered the second star of Xuanyuan; in the following year, in July, the empress dowager He died. In the fifth year of Taoyuan of Emperor Xiaowu, in July, the moon infringed upon the Great Star of Xuanyuan; in September, the empress Wang died.)
When the moon invades the star of Xiaowei, it indicates worry for a reclusive gentleman. (The "Continued History of Jinyang" records that Xie Fu, a person from Kuaiji, named Qingsu, lived in seclusion in Ruoye Mountain. At that time, when the moon invaded the star of Xiaowei, Dai Kui was more renowned than Xie Fu, and people were worried about Dai Kui. Soon after, however, Xie Fu died. People from Kuaiji thus mocked people from Wu, saying: "The high scholars of Wu are even unable to seek death.") When the moon invades the star of Xiaowei, it indicates worry for the female sovereign, a change of prime minister, and worry for the historian being demoted. When the moon invades the southern star of Xiaowei, it indicates worry for a reclusive gentleman; invading the first star indicates worry for a virtuous person; the third star indicates worry for a doctoral scholar; and the fourth star indicates worry for a senior official.

The moon passing through the Taiwei垣 indicates that high officials will suffer misfortune, possibly death. The person associated with the star that the moon invades will be executed by the emperor. Some say this also indicates the royal family abusing power, which is ominous. If the moon enters the Taiwei垣 or if a meteor crosses through the Taiwei垣, it signifies the ruler's weakness and the ministers' dominance, with the feudal lords and the four barbarian tribes' armies becoming uncontrollable. This is due to improper conduct and immoral intentions; immoral intentions lead to improper desires and disobedience to the emperor's orders. There are wicked people in the court, and the four barbarian tribes are hard to trust. If the moon invades the Taiwei垣 and exits from its gate, it indicates the departure of envoys. If the moon passes through the Taiwei垣 and exits from the east, it indicates the dismissal of ministers and the feudal princes taking charge of court affairs. If it exits from the middle gate, it indicates ministers failing to uphold their duties. If the moon enters the Taiwei垣, it indicates mourning. (The "Book of the Later Han·Astronomical Records" records: In the fifth month of the fifth year of Emperor Mu of the Jin Dynasty, the moon invaded Taiwei; in the same month on Dingsi, Emperor Mu died. In the fourteenth year of Emperor An of the Jin Dynasty, in the fifth month, the moon again invaded Taiwei, and on the ninth month on Dingsi, it entered Taiwei again; in the twelfth month on Wuyin of that year, Emperor An died.)

When the moon passes by the Left and Right Law Stars, it indicates that ministers will suffer misfortune, and many will be implicated and die, with few escaping. If the moon exits from the eastern gate of Taimei, it signifies that a chancellor is ordered to travel southeast, which relates to acts of virtue. If it exits from the western gate, it signifies that a general is ordered to travel southwest, which relates to the use of punishment. (The interpretation is the same as the previous passage.) If the moon enters through the eastern or western central gates of Taimei, or enters through the left and right side gates and exits through the end gate, it indicates that actions will follow established rules. (The same applies to the five planets.) If the moon enters through the western gate of Taimei and exits through the eastern gate, it indicates that the sovereign is uneasy and ministers abuse the sovereign's authority, disobeying the royal decree. If the moon confronts the court of Taimei, it indicates that a minister will kill the sovereign, and at this time, it is advisable to seek out virtuous ministers for assistance. If the moon enters through the western central gate and exits through the eastern central gate, it indicates that ministers will act independently and issue orders on their own. If the moon enters through the western gate of Taimei and exits through the eastern gate of Taiyin, it indicates great chaos, mourning, and suffering from major floods. If the moon enters through the western gate, invades the heavenly court, and exits through the end gate, it indicates that ministers will attack the sovereign. (The "Book of the Later Han · Astronomical Records" states: In the first year of Yuanxi of Emperor Gong of Jin, in January Bingwu, March Renyin, May Bingshen, and July Yimao, the moon all invaded Taimei. On the third day of the sixth month in the second year of Yuanxi, Emperor Gong abdicated in favor of Liu Yu, the founder of the Song dynasty.)

The moon passing over the Yellow Emperor's star indicates that a great person will have worries, with the fate of the world divided equally between survival and destruction. There will be treacherous ministers in court, causing the monarch to feel anxious and resentful, while ministers rebel and the political situation undergoes a major change. If the moon passes over the four imperial stars, it signifies the danger and collapse of the entire realm. If the moon exits from the north of the Yellow Emperor's star, the calamity will be great; if it exits from the south, the calamity will be minor. In both cases, those in lower positions will plot against those in higher positions. If the moon passes over, occupies, or lingers on the Taiwei constellation and the four auxiliary stars, it indicates that senior ministers will be executed. If the moon passes over, occupies, or lingers on the internal screen stars, it signifies that ministers will lose decorum, and among the ministers assisting in governance, some will be executed or dismissed.

When the moon enters the Star of Ranks, it also indicates that high officials may proclaim themselves emperor, and dukes and marquises conspire to assassinate the sovereign. When the moon enters the Kulu star, it indicates that military actions will arise throughout the land. When the moon is stationed among the YuLin stars, it indicates a large-scale military campaign. The moon entering the Heavenly Granary star indicates that the treasury and treasures will be dispersed outside, causing the ruler to worry about ministers within the court, and military actions will arise throughout the realm. When the moon invades the Heavenly Granary star, it mainly signifies the transfer of grain. The moon entering the Heavenly Market enclosure indicates the rise of military forces. The moon passing through the Huoshi star indicates ministers exceeding the authority of the ruler. When the moon undergoes change in the Tianlang star, it signifies the deployment of troops in formation without actual combat; another interpretation is that there will be minor battles accompanied by water-related disasters. The Gan school says: when the moon is in the Tianli star, it indicates ministers being imprisoned due to involvement in plots against the ruler; another interpretation is that the ruler will face great anxiety.

When the moon enters the star Xianchi, it signifies sudden military calamities. When the moon enters the star Tian Huang, it indicates the outbreak of military conflicts, blocked roads, turmoil across the country, and a change of government; another interpretation is that many nobles will die. When the moon invades or overpowers the star Tian Huang, military conflicts will arise within twenty days. If the moon does not follow the path of Tian Jie, it indicates that decrees cannot be implemented, and military conflicts will occur within the same year. When the moon travels along Tian Jie, it signifies peace throughout the country and obedience of the people. When the moon travels outside Tian Jie, it indicates misfortune for the people. When the moon is in the star Zhe Wei, it signifies the loss of authority by the emperor.
The moon entering the哭泣 star indicates a great mourning, with the ruler's death. The moon overpowering the key-closing star indicates great sorrow for a high official, the execution of a minister, and the emperor neglecting caution, with heavenly fire destroying the ancestral temple; at this time, the king should not leave the palace, otherwise there will be the calamity of the emperor's death. The moon entering the 天积 star (which is also called the straw and fodder star) indicates the dispersal of treasures outside, and the minister who causes the ruler worry is within the court. The eleventh divination on lunar halo.
The phenomenon known as "moon halo" is also called "qunxun." When a ruler relies on the virtue of earth but ultimately meets his downfall and the government loses fairness, the moon often produces multiple halos, which are round in shape. The appearance of a moon halo indicates that the country corresponding to the opposite zodiac sign of the moon will experience unrest. A moon halo is a sign of ministers seizing power. On the seventh day of the first month (climatic spring), the eighth day of the second month (climatic summer), and the ninth day of the third month (climatic autumn) in each of the four "meng" months, as well as the first day of the four "zhong" months and the first day of the four "ji" months, moon halos are naturally expected to appear. If a moon halo does not appear on these days, there will be a storm and heavy rain within three days. The appearance of a moon halo signifies that the ruler of the country has broken his oaths and treaties.
When the moon halo is偏向 the east, it indicates damage to five types of wooden crops. When it is偏向 the west, it indicates an approaching rain and wind, which will damage grain. When it is偏向 the north, it indicates flooding. When it is偏向 the south, it indicates drought and strong winds. If the moon halo is exceptionally bright, it indicates the king personally leading the army. If there is no rain and strong winds within seven days after the moon halo appears, it indicates a large military movement or the commencement of major construction projects. If the moon halo has straight lines, it indicates military affairs. If it has curved lines, it indicates officials acting against the law and also rain. If the moon halo is yellow, it indicates an increase in the salary of generals. Observing the moon halo is usually done on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month.
A double halo around the moon indicates great wind, military actions will arise, and calamities will occur within the palace, with female relatives controlling affairs. A double halo around the moon, accompanied by red clouds resembling a wooden mallet surrounding it, indicates armies outside, with ten thousand people dying under this celestial omen. The moon has two and a half halos in the north and south, and five blue clouds rising straight up from the north side of the moon, indicating blocked passes and blocked roads. A triple halo around the moon indicates great chaos throughout the land, and there will certainly be resistance from fortified cities.
A moon halo appearing four times indicates that the ruler of the world will be replaced. (In the seventh year of Emperor Gao of the Han dynasty, a moon halo covered the mansion of Three Stars and the mansion of Net for seven layers. The divination text says: Between the mansion of Hairy Head and the mansion of Net is the celestial street; to the north of the celestial street belongs the land of the Hu people, and to the south belongs the Central Plains. The mansion of Hairy Head governs the Xiongnu, the mansion of Three Stars governs the state of Zhao, and the mansion of Net governs military affairs on the border. In that year, Emperor Gao personally led his troops to attack the Xiongnu, and reached Pingcheng where he was surrounded by Modu Chanyu for seven days before he was finally rescued.) A moon halo appearing eight times indicates that a country will perish. A moon halo appearing nine times or ten times indicates that the ruler of the world will be replaced.
The moon appears yellow and white with intersecting rings, one yellow and two red, indicating that the country corresponding to the star mansion where the moon resides will suffer misfortune. When the moon produces intersecting rings, if the color is red and bright, it indicates that the country will face military disaster within three years. If the moon appears yellow and white with intersecting rings, it indicates that the country corresponding to the moon's star mansion will suffer calamity. If the moon's ring has two layers, it indicates that military forces will rise and there will be conflicts within the army. If the moon's ring is shaped like a chain, and there is a white rainbow that penetrates the ring but does not touch the moon, it indicates that a noblewoman is secretly plotting rebellion, and will issue orders for mourning in plain clothes, with many strange occurrences in the palace.
A halo above the moon indicates great joy or a strong wind. A pendant above the moon signifies a smooth harvest and national peace; another interpretation suggests there will be the death of a woman in the country. A pendant above the moon indicates that the attacking side will win. If there is only one pendant, the country where the pendant is located will lose territory. When a moon halo appears, the side that first sees the halo will have good fortune. If the embracing and pendant clouds around the moon are outside the halo and red, the people on the outer side will win.
The moon has two layers of halo that cannot merge, indicating water disaster for the moon's ruler; if there are four diverging clouds above the halo, it signifies that planned affairs will not succeed. If there are more than nine layers of moon halo in the fifth month, it indicates many people will die from heatstroke on the roads. If there is one layer of moon halo with a gap at the bottom that cannot merge, and there is a crown and belt cloud above, along with two ear-like clouds, the white halo appears as a chain passing through the ear-like clouds and connecting to the Big Dipper, indicating a large-scale military conflict within the country, a bloody battle, and the loss of territory in the corresponding region.
If a lunar halo appears on the third day of the first lunar month, it indicates that the country where the moon resides will have a moderate harvest; if it appears on the first or second day, there will certainly be construction projects involving earth and wood. If a halo appears on the fifth day, it signifies a great harvest. If a single halo appears in the first ten days, it indicates pests in trees; two halos indicate pests in grain; three halos indicate lightning and thunder. If a halo appears on the tenth day, it signifies a change of ruler throughout the country. If a halo appears on the sixth, eighth, or ninth day, it indicates the fall of states. If there are more than nine halos in the first lunar month, it indicates many people will die of starvation on the roads.
The twelfth chapter on the divination of the moon's halo, five planets, and the outer constellations.
If the moon halo encompasses all five planets, and the stars appear dark and indistinct, it indicates the army of the main force will prevail; if the stars are bright, the opposing army will prevail. If the moon halo encompasses the planet Jupiter (the year star), it indicates the sovereign will fall ill, or there will be a great flood; if the halo reaches five layers, it signifies the sovereign will suffer illness and die. When the moon halo encompasses Jupiter, it also indicates there will be troubles caused by women, and grain prices will rise sharply; if the halo reaches three layers, it signifies the prime minister will die. When the moon halo encompasses Jupiter, it also indicates the ruler of the country will be restless. If the moon halo encompasses Mars (the malefic of violence), it indicates misfortune for the female ruler, or there will be deaths, which will be verified in the country corresponding to the area where Mars is located; if Mars is within the halo and the color is poor and not bright, it indicates the opposing army will suffer defeat. When the moon halo encompasses Mars, it also indicates a major battle between armies in the open field; if there is no military action, it indicates a severe drought, followed by the outbreak of military conflict.
When the moon's halo surrounds Saturn, it indicates that the country where the moon resides has fortune and virtue. If the aura of Saturn is unclear, it signifies military victory. If the halo reaches three layers, it indicates the death of the prime minister, large-scale construction projects throughout the country, and the outbreak of military conflicts, with the female ruler experiencing worries. When the moon's halo surrounds Saturn, it also indicates that the female ruler in the country loses power and there are construction projects. If the aura of Mercury is unclear, it indicates military victory; if it is bright, the opposing army wins. When the moon's halo surrounds Mercury, if there are two stars resembling a chain between the Horn mansion and the Neck mansion, it indicates that ministers plot against the ruler. If this occurs in spring or summer, it indicates that the people suffer from fevers and chills; if it occurs in autumn or winter, it indicates concern over military conflicts, otherwise there will be great floods, leading to deaths or major troubles. The time of the omen is determined by matching the heavenly stem of the day with the four seasons: if it is Jia or Yi, the omen occurs in spring; if it is Bing or Ding, in summer; if it is Geng or Xin, in autumn. Thirteenth Divination on Lunar Eclipse
When the moon first appears and is visible for three days but then its outline is not visible, there will certainly be a lunar eclipse. The "Yi Wei · Meng Qi Shu" says: To predict whether the moon will be fully eclipsed, one should observe the reflection of the moon in water. If the moon's reflection is not visible in the water, then it is a full eclipse. Whenever there is a lunar eclipse, it indicates that there will be an attack on a city, and a large-scale battle in the direction where the moon is located. If an army departs from the city gate at the time of a lunar eclipse, it indicates that the army will suffer a great defeat in the territory corresponding to the eclipse, and many soldiers will die. If it rains within three days after a lunar eclipse, it signifies that the situation will be resolved, which is a good omen. If a lunar eclipse occurs at the time when the sky is just beginning to brighten, it indicates an event related to the crown prince; if it occurs in the evening, it indicates an event related to the king.
A lunar eclipse beginning from the south side is ominous for men; from the north, for women; from the east, for the young; and from the west, for the elderly. If the moon is entirely eclipsed and loses all its light, it portends calamity for the sovereign. If the moon is partially eclipsed, with its light scattered, it indicates trouble for ministers. If half of the moon is eclipsed, it foretells military disaster within five years, and the army in the corresponding region will be destroyed. When a lunar eclipse occurs and is accompanied by other stars conflicting and producing a lunar halo, the sovereign should be wary. If there are already armies, war is certain; if not, military action will arise.
When two moons appear in the sky and both are eclipsed at the same time, it indicates great chaos throughout the realm. When a lunar eclipse occurs and clouds enter the moon from outside, it signifies misfortune for the defending country; if the clouds spread out from the moon, it indicates misfortune for the invading force. If the clouds move south, the army in the south will suffer; if they move north, the army in the north will suffer; the same applies to movements east and west. If an army is stationed abroad and encounters a lunar eclipse, the general will have to take an indirect route back to his homeland, and the battle will not be won. If a lunar eclipse occurs on the third day after the moon's birth, this is called "great calamity," indicating national mourning. If a lunar eclipse occurs between the tenth and fourteenth days, it signifies warfare throughout the land. If a lunar eclipse occurs on the fifteenth day, it indicates the country's downfall and destruction.
A lunar eclipse in spring indicates poor harvests, death of generals, and calamity; in summer, it indicates a great drought; in autumn, it indicates the outbreak of military conflicts; in winter, it indicates military disaster and funerals within the country. In winter, the specific country affected by the lunar eclipse is determined by the day branch on which the eclipse occurs. If the moon is eclipsed on a day with the heavenly stem Jia or Yi, there will be an abundance of fish but damage to millet and wheat; if on Bing or Ding, there will be a good harvest; if on Wu or Ji, there will be no farming and low-lying fields will have poor harvests; if on Geng or Xin, high fields will not yield crops; if on Ren or Gui, the harvest will be normal. If the moon is eclipsed on a day with the earthly branch Chen or Si, the land will have some harvest but the wheat will be damaged; if on Wu or Wei, the autumn crops will be poor.
