Divination is favorable for military action when one takes the initiative. This pattern describes a situation where the Three Transmissions are born from the Day Stem, yet they are reversed and instead nourished by the Day Branch, thus dispersing the energy of the Day Branch. When encountering this pattern, it indicates that the family has many people but the residence is narrow. For example, if the Day Stem is Jiashen (甲申) and the Day Stem is supported by Wu (午), with the Three Transmissions being Chen (辰), Shen (申), and Zi (子), forming a water pattern, all of them nourish the Jia wood. This indicates a prosperous population. However, the Day Branch is Shen (申), which in turn nourishes the water pattern of the Three Transmissions, indicating a narrow dwelling. When encountering this pattern, one must not move to a larger house, for it may bring misfortune. This is the natural arrangement of the universe, and one must not defy the natural order. If this pattern is used for other matters, it indicates that our side will flourish while the opposing side declines, and we will prevail while they lose. The following examples should be interpreted in the same way. Another example is when the Day Stem is Yiyou (乙酉) and the Day Stem is supported by Shen (申), with the Three Transmissions being Shen (申), Zi (子), and Chen (辰); or when the Day Stem is Si (巳) and the Three Transmissions are Hai (亥), Zi (子), and Chou (丑).

The "Person Prosperous but Abandons House" pattern: The three transmissions generate and support the day stem but harm the day branch. When predicting the fortune of a person, although they may be prosperous and successful, they do not have a proper house to live in; even if they hold an official position, they are mostly staying temporarily. If someone wants to run away and abandon their property, this pattern is especially accurate. For example, in a day of Dingwei with Mao on Wei and Hai on Wei as the initiating transmission; in a day of Guimao with You on Si as the initiating transmission; in a day of Jiawu with Zi on Chou; and in a day of Bingxu with Mao on Chen as the initiating transmission.

The "赘婿 hexagram" indicates that when the day branch's ruler is added to the day stem and is instead overcome by the day stem, and there is also a god that drains or removes the branch, or if the branch is directly overcome, such a person will certainly not have their own house to live in and will have to become a婿, living with others. For example, on a Bingshen day, the Shen is added to the Bing and is overcome by the Bing; the Hai drains the Shen. On a Dingyou day, the You is added to the Ding and is overcome by the Ding; the Hai drains the You. On a Wuzi day, the Zi is added to the Wu but is not overcome; on a Jihai day, the Hai is added to the Si and is overcome by the Si; the Mao drains the Hai.

The dwelling is spacious, leading to the decline of its inhabitants.

Divination is favorable for military strategy when it involves holding ground and waiting for the enemy, or when the enemy's camp is vulnerable. This pattern describes a situation where the three transmissions steal and release the energy of the day stem, instead benefiting the day branch. Whenever this pattern occurs, it indicates that the residence is too large to accommodate people, or that there are too few people living in an overly spacious house, leading to gradual decline in population and continuous misfortunes. The only solution is to abandon this residence and move elsewhere to avoid these troubles. If this pattern appears in other contexts, it signifies that our side is weak while the opposing side is strong, resulting in our defeat and their victory. The following examples should be interpreted in the same way. For instance, on a Jiachen day with Xu on寅, or on a Jiaxu day with寅 on Xu, or on a Renwu day with Wei on Mao.

The "Selling House to Prepare for Troubles Pattern": When the three transmissions are born on the day branch and overcome the day stem, it is only suitable to sell the house at a discounted price and use the money to prepare for possible disasters. For example, on a Guiyou day, the day branch is Chou, and the initiating transmission is on Chou; on a Jisi day, the day branch is Mao, and the initiating transmission is on Wei; on a Bingyin day, the day branch is Zi, and the initiating transmission is on Chou; and on a Guiyou day with a hidden chant pattern. The "Lion and Beast Opposing the House Pattern": When the lion head on the neighbor's house directly faces one's own house, or when there are stone lions or a straight road pointing towards the residence, it leads to the decline of the family fortune; if the opposite side falls under the empty void, there is no need to be afraid. For example, on a Renchen day, the initiating transmission is on Xiu and is accompanied by the White Tiger, opposing the branch's Yin; on a Xinsi day with a hidden chant, the initiating transmission is on Hai and is accompanied by the White Tiger, opposing the branch's Si; on Jiawu and Gengwu days with hidden chants, the initiating transmission is on Zi and is accompanied by the White Tiger, opposing the branch's Wu; on Xinchou day, the initiating transmission is on You and is accompanied by the White Tiger, opposing the branch's Mao.

The "Blood Aversion Overcomes the House Pattern" occurs when the Heavenly Empress is on the Blood Branch, Blood Taboo, and also serves as the Month Aversion, and it attacks the Day Branch. Any activity related to business or opening a shop should avoid this pattern. For example, on the Guihai day in the seventh month, the Heavenly Empress is on the Chen position and rests on the亥 position, using a night divination. Because the Blood Taboo and Month Aversion of the seventh month are both in Chen, and Chen is theTomb Spirit, which directly attacks the house spirit. Among the twelve months, only the seventh month has the Blood Taboo and Month Aversion falling in the same position; in other months, there are examples where the Heavenly Empress is on the Blood Branch and Blood Taboo.

The Three Transmissions being mutually generative, if they generate the Day Stem, the host side will prevail; if they generate the Day Branch, the host side will prevail. This pattern is divided into two types: one is when the First Transmission generates the Middle Transmission, the Middle Transmission generates the Final Transmission, and the Final Transmission regenerates the Day Stem; the other is when the Final Transmission generates the Middle Transmission, the Middle Transmission generates the First Transmission, and the First Transmission regenerates the Day Stem. Any divination that falls into these two patterns indicates that there are people three or four levels above who are supporting the seeker. It is said that this is entirely due to the support of others. If one is seeking an official position or wants someone to submit a recommendation, this pattern is favorable, and the matter will be successfully completed from beginning to end. However, one should carefully check whether the First and Final Transmissions fall into Kongwang. If they do, although those people may have the intention to recommend, there will be no real result, for they talk a lot but do not offer genuine support.

For example, on a day with the stem Xinhchou, the trigram Mao is placed on Chou as the first transmission. The wood of Mao generates the fire of Si as the middle transmission, and the fire of Si generates the earth of Wei as the final transmission. The earth of Wei then generates the metal day stem Xinh. In this case, the middle transmission and the final transmission both fall into empty positions. If the heavenly stem, the month builder, or the person's own birth stem comes to fill these empty positions (by adding a real god to the empty position), the matter can still succeed. Another example is on a day with the stem Xinyou, the trigram Yin is on the day stem; on a day with the stem Guiwei, the trigram Mao is on the day stem. On days with the stems Jiazi, Renshen, Renchen, Jiashen, Renyin, Renzi, and Renxu, the trigram Wu is on the day stem. On days with the stems Bingzi, Bingyin, Bingchen, Bingwu, Bingshen, and Bingxu, the trigram Shen is on the day stem, and the three transmissions are Shen, Hai, and Yin. In these days, some of the three transmissions are empty while others are not. For instance, on the day with the stem Bingzi, the first and middle transmissions are empty. On the day with the stem Bingyin, the middle and final transmissions are empty.

The "Generative Wealth God" pattern: All three transmissions are wealth hexagrams, and the heavenly generals accompanying them also generate the wealth. This is most favorable for obtaining wealth. For example, if on a day with the stem Jia, the hexagram is placed on the branch You, and the divination is done at night, this pattern is present. The "Branch and Stem Mutual Generation" pattern: For instance, on a day with the stem Renxu, the stem is Shen, and the branch Wei earth generates the Shen metal, which in turn generates the Ren water day stem. Although Wei earth is considered a ghost, it is not feared, but rather can bring blessings. The "Double-Edged Sword" pattern: For example, on a day with the stem Wu, theHidden Chant (hidden chant) pattern is present, and the three transmissions are Si, Shen, and Yin. The final transmission Yin wood can assist the initial transmission Si fire in generating the Wu earth day stem, while at the same time directly overcoming the Wu earth. As the saying goes, the one who achieves success is Xiao He, and the one who causes failure is also Xiao He, hence the name "Double-Edged Sword." There are also cases where the three transmissions generate the day stem, and the heavenly generals also generate the three transmissions. For example, on a day with the stem Gui, the three transmissions are You, Chou, and Si, or Si, Chou, and You, and during the day, the heavenly generals accompanying them are the Nobleman, Tai Chang, and Gou Chen.

The Three Transmissions mutually attack, and the multitude will deceive. Third, second.

The Three Transmissions successively harming each other, if the harm reaches the Day Stem, indicates that the guest side will suffer defeat; if it reaches the Day Branch, it indicates that the host side will suffer defeat. This example is divided into two types: one is when the First Transmission harms the Middle Transmission, the Middle Transmission harms the Final Transmission, and the Final Transmission harms the Day Stem; the other is when the Final Transmission harms the Middle Transmission, the Middle Transmission harms the First Transmission, and the First Transmission harms the Day Stem. Whenever one obtains these two types of divination, it indicates that someone will successively harm me; or that many people will unite to oppress me; or that I have been acting harshly in the past, leading others to attack me collectively and file complaints against me. If a person in official position obtains this divination, he should restrain himself and be cautious, fearing an accusation from the advisory office.

For example, on a Bingchen day, the first transmission's Yin is placed over You, Yin wood overcomes the middle transmission's Wei earth, Wei earth then overcomes the final transmission's Zi water, and Zi water comes back to overcome Bing fire day stem. Additionally, the cases of Xinyou day with卯 on the day stem, Jisi day's hidden chant, and Wu day's hidden chant all belong to this category. Another example is on a Bingzi day, the final transmission's Yin is placed over Wei, Yin wood overcomes the middle transmission's Wei earth, Wei earth overcomes the first transmission's Zi water, and Zi water then overcomes Bing fire day stem, which is a case of reverse sequential overcoming.

The "Great Gain in Wealth Pattern" works like this: On a Gengchen day, if the day stem is Chou, and the three transmissions are Yin, Wei, and Zi, then the Geng metal first overcomes the initial transmission Yin wood, which becomes wealth. The Yin wood then overcomes the middle transmission Wei earth, which in turn overcomes the final transmission Zi water. This chain of overcoming turns all the overcome elements into wealth, allowing for great gains in seeking wealth. This method is very effective, and other cases can be interpreted in the same way. For example, on a Yiyou day, if Wei is added to Yin, or on a Yichou day, if the day stem is You and the three transmissions are Yin, Wei, and Zi, the interpretation remains the same.

The "Earth General Assisting Wealth Pattern": If on a Bing day, the酉 (Metal) is placed on the巳 (Fire), and all three transmissions are wealth, then in a night divination, the heavenly general riding on the day stem is entirely earth, all helping and strengthening the wealth god. This is most favorable for seeking wealth and also most suitable for promoting various matters. However, it is unfavorable for parents, and if divining about parents' illness, it is particularly dangerous. It also indicates that the person acts unjustly, often rising to wealth through greed. The "Vermilion Bird Ghost Pattern": The Vermilion Bird serves as the day ghost and is placed on the day stem. Officials in office should beware of someone lodging a petition against them, and they should also avoid submitting strategies or suggestions, as this may lead to reprimand and dismissal. For example, on a Bing day, the day stem is亥 (Water) and the divination is at night; on a Geng day, the day stem is巳 (Fire) and the divination is in the evening; on a Jia day, the day stem is酉 (Metal) and the divination is at night; on a Wu day, the day stem is卯 (Wood) and the divination is in the day. On a Ren or Gui day, if the未 (Earth) is ridden by the Vermilion Bird and the divination is done in the day when the nobleman moves in the correct direction, this pattern also appears, although it does not directly affect the day stem. If it is on the year or destiny, it can still be used.

"The Three Transmissions Internal Strife Pattern": In this pattern, all three transmissions are "lower attacking upper," meaning the gods on the Earth Plate overcome the gods on the Heaven Plate, and this continuous overcoming leads to mutual attacks and conflicts, hence the name Three Transmissions Internal Strife. Whenever this pattern appears in a divination, it indicates that there is someone within the family who has committed wrongdoing, and the legal dispute arises from within the family. For example, on a Guiyou day, the Wei hexagram is placed on the Yin hexagram, which is lower overcoming upper; the Middle Transmission Zi is placed on the Wei hexagram and is also overcome, and the Final Transmission Si is placed on the Zi hexagram and is also overcome. Moreover, on the Heaven Plate, Wei overcomes Zi, and Zi overcomes Si, while on the Earth Plate, Yin overcomes Wei, and Wei overcomes Zi. This creates a situation where upper and lower continuously harm and overcome each other, with no resolution. Another example is on a Wuchen day, where the Yin hexagram is placed on the You hexagram as the Initiating Transmission, following the same principle.

There is a beginning but no end, making it difficult to change or alter. Third three.

The use of military forces has a distinction of order, with both sides having victories and defeats. This sentence actually contains two matters. The first is "having a beginning but no end," which means the first transmission falls on the day stem's growth position, while the final transmission falls on the day stem's tomb position. The second is "difficulty turning into ease," which is the opposite: the first transmission is on the day stem's tomb, while the final transmission is on the day stem's growth. For example, on an Yiwei day, the first transmission is亥 (Hai) placed on 未 (Wei), and Hai is the growth of Yi wood; the final transmission is 未 (Wei) placed on 卯 (Mao), and Wei is the tomb of Yi wood. When such a divination is obtained, the initial planning of affairs is like flowers in bloom, everything goes smoothly, but in the end, it will certainly fail.

For example, on an Yichou day, when亥 is placed on丑, the first transmission is亥 and the final transmission is未. This also starts from the long life position and proceeds to the tomb position, with the same method of interpretation as before. Another example is on a Bingyin day, when戌 is placed on寅, the first transmission is戌, which is the tomb of Bing fire, and the final transmission is寅, which is the long life position of Bing fire. This indicates that the matter will be difficult at first but easy later. Again, on Renzi and Renyin days, when辰 is placed on寅 as the first transmission and申 is placed on午 as the final transmission, this starts from the tomb position and proceeds to the long life position, similar to being lost first and then waking up. Such a divination suggests that although the initial efforts are difficult, the matter can eventually be accomplished. All divinations inevitably go through a process of first being obscure and then becoming clear. The first path starts from the long life position and ends at the tomb, called self-long-life to tomb; the second path starts from the tomb position and ends at the long life position, called self-tomb to long-life. When the beginning and end are reversed, the fortune and misfortune are also exactly opposite.

The "Discarding Harm and Seeking Benefit" pattern: For example, on a Jia Chen day, Chou is placed over Jia, and Chou is a harmful "Fragmentation" evil star for the day stem. The branch's Mao also harms the day branch, and it is also the "Yang Ren" for Jia Wood, indicating excessive strength and a position that causes injury. These two aspects should be discarded, and instead, one should turn to the three transmissions of Zi, Hai, and Xu, which all benefit the day stem. In any divination of this pattern, one must inevitably abandon the unprofitable side and turn toward the prosperous and strong side. When this pattern occurs, it indicates longevity and gradual rise from humble beginnings. Another example is on a Jia Zi day, Hai is placed over Jia, and if divined in June, Hai is the parent's yao but falls into Kongwang, and it is also the dead qi of that month. At the same time, it is the long life of Jia Wood, indicating disaster for the parents. If the parents have already passed away, this aspect is not considered. There are many similar examples, all of which should be interpreted in this way.

After bitterness comes sweetness; within joy lies sorrow. Third and fourth.

It was originally impossible to accomplish, but it ended up being achieved. This sentence should be divided into two layers. First, it refers to 'suffering followed by happiness': for example, on a Wuwu day, the final transmission's metal (申金) generates the middle transmission's water (亥水), which in turn generates the first transmission's wood (寅木), and the寅木回头克 the day stem (戊土). This is indeed suffering from the寅木. However, unexpectedly, the final transmission's申金 can overcome the寅木, and since申 is the long life ofWu Earth, this illustrates the metaphor of hardship followed by happiness. Those who divinate this chart are inevitably subjected to some hardship first, and then eventually achieve ease. Another example is theHidden Chant chart on a Wu day, where the first transmission overcomes the middle, the middle overcomes the final, and the final overcomes the day stem. Again, it is suffering from the寅木. However, unexpectedly, this寅木 directly generates巳火, which in turn generates the day stemWu Earth. These two examples can be considered as both success and failure resting entirely on Xiao He.

The "One Joy and One Sorrow Pattern" refers to situations where both favorable and unfavorable elements are present. For example, on a Guihai day, the戌 (earthly branch) is on the day stem and rides the Azure Dragon, which is a favorable general. However, the戌 earth is actuallyrestrain (overcoming) the Gui water day stem, which is an unfortunate aspect. Meanwhile, the申 (earthly branch) on the branch rides the White Tiger, which is an unfavorable general. However, the申 metal is actually 生 (nourishing) the Gui water, which is a fortunate aspect. Another example is on a Guimao day, where the申 (earthly branch) is on the day stem and rides the White Tiger, while the戌 (earthly branch) is on the branch and rides the Azure Dragon. On Renyin and Renzi days, the戌 (earthly branch) is placed on the Zi (earthly branch) and initiates the transmission, and the same applies during the night hour. Another case is when the day stem is the long life of the day stem, but it lacks vitality in the current month. In such cases, it is favorable to see ghosts in the three transmissions. For instance, on a Jia day, if the亥 (earthly branch) is on the day stem, which is the long life of Jia wood, but the month lacks vitality, it is favorable to see the metal of Shen and You in the three transmissions to nourish the亥 water. This is also considered a fortunate aspect amidst misfortune.

The "Joy in the Beginning, Worry Arises" pattern: For example, on a Gengyin day, the stem's巳 (Si) is the long life of Geng metal, and the branch's亥 (Hai) is the long life of Yin wood; at first, both sides have the joy of long life. However, when examined together, the Geng metal is actually drained by Hai water, and the Yin wood is drained by Si fire, resulting in both sides leaking and consuming. In all such cases, this pattern holds. Similarly, on a Jiashen day, the stem's亥 (Hai) and the branch's巳 (Si) are the same as before. On a Gengchen day, the stem's戌 (Xu) is born by the day stem, and the branch's午 (Wu) and辰 (Chen) are present; in this case, it is only suitable to remain still and wait for the right opportunity to act. Benefits will naturally come. Once there is reckless action, both the stem and branch sides will fall into positions that harm me.

On a Gengwu day, if the day stem is supported by Chen soil which generates Geng metal, and the day branch is supported by Yin wood which generates Wu fire, it is advisable to remain still and take advantage of the situation. Once there is movement, the stem and branch will fall into a position of leakage. For example, on a Gengzi day, if the day stem is supported by Si fire, which although is the long life of Geng metal, can also harm Geng metal at the same time; and the day branch is supported by You metal which generates the day branch, but water in the You position is actually a weak position. Similarly, on days like Guiyou, Guichou, and Guisi, if You metal is added to Gui metal and the divination is done in the daytime, although the three transmissions are metal generating the day stem, the heavenly generals accompanying them all harm the day stem. Although there is support in front, there is serious harm behind. Divination about illness indicates death, and divination about legal matters indicates punishment. This exactly matches the saying: greedy for a single grain of rice, losing half a year's food supply. All such divinations follow this pattern.

On a Gengchen day, the day stem is on the position of Si. Although Si is said to be the place of growth for Geng metal, the final transmission generates the middle transmission, and the middle transmission generates the initial transmission of Si fire. This Si fire then turns back to overcome the day stem Geng metal. On a Bingshen night, the day stem is on the position of Shen, and the three transmissions are Shen, Hai, and Yin. The initial transmission Shen, which is originally considered as wealth for Bing fire, is unable to function because it is surrounded by things that overcome it. The middle transmission is the ghost of the day stem, and the final transmission is riding on the White Tiger and has hidden壬 water to overcome the day stem. On the surface, it seems that the initial transmission generates the middle transmission, the middle transmission generates the final transmission, and the final transmission generates the day stem, but behind this there are many unpleasant aspects, as explained before. All these examples are like a musical melody that suddenly changes from a harmonious tune of Gong and Shang to a mournful song of "Xielu" at a funeral.

The "Enriched Favor and Deep Grudge Pattern" occurs when the day stem generates the first transmission, which is considered as showing favor. The first transmission then generates the middle transmission, and the middle transmission generates the final transmission. However, the final transmission turns back to overcome the day stem, turning favor into enmity. For example, on a Jisi day, Shen metal is placed over Si fire, where Shen metal generates the middle transmission of Hai water, Hai water generates the final transmission of Yin wood, and Yin wood then overcomes the Ji earth day stem. Similarly, on Yihai, Yiwei, Yisi, and Yimao days, Wu fire is placed over Hai water as the initiating transmission, also falling into this pattern.

"The pattern of 'unluck in luck, luck in unluck': a凶恶的白虎 (evil White Tiger) falls precisely on the day stem's Growth (growth) position, while a auspicious Azure Dragon (Azure Dragon) happens to be the day stem's 鬼 (ghost). This is the principle behind all such divination signs. For example, in a伏吟 (hidden chant) lesson on a 戊 (Wu) day, if it is daytime and all three positions are 白虎 with 白虎 also being 长生, this is considered luck in unluck; if it is nighttime and all three positions are 青龙 with 青龙 also being the day stem's 鬼, this is considered unluck in luck. Additionally, in Reverse Chant (return chant) lessons on 戊 or 己 days, if they are divined in the third month, Life Qi (life qi) comes back to attack the day stem, indicating illness; Death Qi (death qi) comes back to support the day stem, which instead suggests survival."

When a person's dwelling is affected by the element of release, it will attract thieves. Third, fifth.

If the military is involved, both the host and the guest will suffer. This case can be divided into two types: one is when both the branch and the stem are occupied by spirits that drain and weaken; the other is when the spirit on the stem drains the day branch, and the spirit on the branch drains the day stem. If either of these two situations occurs, people will be deceived, the household will suffer theft, and if it is about illness, it is definitely due to excessive expenditure on building a house, leading to a deficiency of vital energy and resulting in a condition of exhaustion. Treatment should involve taking medicine to replenish vital energy. In cases where the stem and branch mutually drain each other and also interact with each other, it means that I intend to take advantage of the other party, and the other party has already planned to take advantage of me. Since both sides have the same intention of taking advantage, it aligns with the saying in the "Dao De Jing" that the heavenly net is vast and loose, yet nothing can escape it.

The three types of divination lessons—remote control,昴星, and separate responsibility—when the initial transmission is itself in Kongwang or falls on an empty place, and the Heavenly General is riding the Black Tortoise, the outcome is certain to indicate theft or loss. This method is extremely accurate. For example, in the "Hao Shi" lesson on Yihai day, the Heavenly General rides the Black Tortoise and is placed on Hai, initiating the transmission from You. In the "Tan She" lesson on Bingzi day, the Heavenly General rides the Black Tortoise and is placed on Zi, initiating the transmission from Shen, using the daytime general. In the "Tan She" lesson on Jisi day, the Heavenly General rides the Black Tortoise and is placed on You, initiating the transmission from Hai. In the "Bie Ze" lesson on Xinchou day, the Heavenly General rides the Black Tortoise and is placed on Shen, initiating the transmission from Si, using the nighttime general. In the "Mao Xing" lesson on Gengwu day, the transmission starts from Xu on You, with both daytime and nighttime generals showing this pattern. There is also the "Yuan Shou" lesson on Gengzi day, where Chen falls on Kongwang and rides the Black Tortoise, initiating the transmission from Zi, using the daytime general. On Xinhai day, Mao is placed on Xu, using the daytime general. These two days involve Kongwang and the Black Tortoise initiating the transmission, but the initial transmission does not belong to the categories of remote control or Mao Xing.

"The 'Wealth Empty Riding the Original Turtle' pattern": When the wealth hexagram falls on an empty branch and is ridden by the Black Tortoise, or when it is located on the day branch and initiates the transmission, one should also be cautious of theft. For example, on a Jiazi day, the戌 hexagram is placed on the Zi position, and during the day, the戌 position is ridden by the Black Tortoise; there are many such examples. "The 'Ghost Escape Riding the Original Turtle' pattern": When the ghost hexagram of the day stem or the escaping god rides the Black Tortoise, the person's intention is mostly about theft or loss; if it exactly initiates the transmission, it is even more accurate. For example, on a Jiyou day, the卯 hexagram is placed on the You position, and it is during the day; on a Xinchou day, the亥 hexagram is placed on the Chou position, and it is during the night.

Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches are both in decline, the situation is deteriorating, third and sixth.

The situation is the same as in the previous chapter. This pattern describes when both the day stem and the branch are in a state of "defeat," meaning they are in the position of the Five Phases' "bathing" (沐浴), where the energy is declining. When this is applied to oneself, it indicates a decline in vitality and blood; when applied to a house, it suggests the building is in disrepair. The situation becomes worse day by day with no progress. One must especially avoid interfering in others' private matters or exposing their secrets. If it comes to the authorities, one's past mistakes will also be revealed, leading to mutual punishment. In other matters, both parties will suffer decline, which matches the saying that killing ten thousand enemies will cost three thousand of one's own. For example, on a Jiashen day, the day stem is Zi and the branch is Wu; on a Gengyin day, the day stem is Wu and the branch is Zi; on Bingshen and Bingyin days, the day stem is Mao.

The "Broken and Declining God Over the House" pattern: When the day branch already has a declining energy and is also accompanied by the "Broken and Shattered"Inauspicious Sha, it indicates that someone in the family is causing misfortune, leading to gradual decline and family ruin. One must carefully examine the "class god" (symbolic classification of deities representing people's status) associated with this broken and declining god to determine which individual is involved. For example, on days with the day stem Jisi (己巳) or Jihai (己亥), if the酉 (Metal) is present, then酉 is both the declining energy of the Jisi stem and the broken and shattered煞 of the day branch, thus forming the broken and declining god. According to the class god, during the day, it indicates the son who causes the family's decline, because酉 is the son of the Jisi stem. At night, if it is accompanied by the Heavenly Empress, it indicates decline caused by a concubine. Similarly, on days with the day stem Wushen (戊申) or Wuyin (戊寅), and on days with the day stem Renshen (壬申), Renyin (壬寅), Guisi (癸巳), or Guihai (癸亥), if the酉 is present, the interpretation is the same, but in these cases, the酉 belongs to the category of servant girls, and the decline is due to indulgence in alcohol and women. The same interpretation applies to other instances of the broken and declining god. Another view states that the broken and declining god only indicates misfortune when it is on the day stem, and not when it is on the day branch.

The third seventh section discusses the theory of the later assisting the earlier in three levels.

To determine whether a divination is favorable to the main party or the opposing party, one must examine the situation. This section discusses cases where the final transmission supports the first transmission to nourish the day stem; another case where the final transmission supports the first transmission but instead harms the day stem; and another where the final transmission supports the first transmission, making it a wealth element for the day stem. These three situations all fall under the same category, characterized by assistance from a side party, with different outcomes as mentioned. In the case where the final transmission supports the first transmission to nourish the day stem, if the seeker's birth year can control the final transmission, it is considered favorable; but if the birth year instead nourishes the final transmission, it turns into an unfavorable outcome.

If the day stem is Gengwu and the day branch is Wu, the three transmissions are Wu, Chen, and Yin. The final transmission Yin is placed on Chen, which generates and strengthens the initial transmission Wu fire. The Wu fire then comes to overcome the Geng metal. The Yin wood in the final transmission is the person behind the scenes inciting litigation. According to the principle of classifying spirits, this person could be an official in the government office, a Taoist priest, a man with a beard, a person of the tiger zodiac, or someone whose surname contains the radical for wood. It is also necessary to examine the heavenly general and classify them accordingly. This type of divination is especially unsuitable for seeking wealth, as obtaining wealth may bring misfortune. Additionally, on Gengchen and Gengshen days, when Yin is placed on Chen, on Xinwei day when Mao is placed on Xu, and on Jiachen day when Chen is placed on Zi, they all belong to the same category.

The "Holding a Rooster Without Fighting" pattern: On days of Ji Hai and Ji You, the three transmissions are Mao, Chou, and Hai; on day Geng Yin, the three transmissions are Wu, Chen, and Yin; on day Gui Hai, the three transmissions are Chou, Mao, and Si. Although in all these cases the final transmission helps the first transmission to overcome the day stem, the first transmission itself is either in Kongwang or in an empty place, and thus has no intention to overcome the day stem. The final transmission is full of resentment but is powerless, and ultimately cannot overcome the day stem. Therefore, this situation is compared to a rooster held in the arms, ready to fight but unable to do so.

"The 'wrongly doing evil' pattern": For example, on a Gengxu day, if the three transmissions are Wu, Chen, and Yin, and the final transmission falls into Kongwang, with the day stem being Wu; or on a Gengzi day, if the three transmissions are also Wu, Chen, and Yin, and the final transmission falls into Kongwang, it also falls into this pattern. Originally, the final transmission would help the first transmission to overcome the day stem, but since the final transmission is in Kongwang, it cannot assist the first transmission. The person behind the scenes who incited the action inevitably reveals themselves. Therefore, it is like doing evil for nothing: the bad deed is not accomplished, yet the evil reputation is acquired.

"The phrase 'Yie Qi Hu Chu Ge' (Seeking Favor Leads to Misfortune) refers to a situation where the heavenly stem of the day is the day stem's wealth, but instead of benefiting the day stem, it goes on to nourish the heavenly stem of the branch, which is actually the day stem's ghost. This type of divination is very unfavorable for seeking the favor of a nobleman or requesting wealth. If this occurs, misfortune will arise immediately. For example, on Jiazi day or Jiawu day, the heavenly stem of the branch is You; on Jiachen day or Jiaxu day, it is Shen; on Yihai day or Yisi day, it is You; on Yimao day or Yiyou day, it is Shen; on Bingyin day, the heavenly stem of the branch is Zi, or Hai."

The second category: For example, on a Xinyou day, if the final transmission's Si is placed over Zi, helping the first transmission's Wei earth to nourish the day stem, this path certainly indicates that someone nearby is secretly assisting and recommending, thus achieving success and prosperity. If the final transmission precisely falls on Kongwang, it merely means that there are many empty words but little genuine effort. This category also includes the hidden chant divination on a Wu day, the hidden chant divination on a Jisi day, and the divination with Zi on the day stem for Jichou, Xinhai, Jisi, Jimao, Jihai, Jiwei, and Xinyou days.

Third category: For example, if the day stem is Jiachen and the initial transmission is Zi, the three transmissions are Xu, Shen, and Wu. The final transmission Wu is placed on Shen, assisting the initial transmission Xu earth, and Xu earth is the wealth of Jiawu wood. Whenever this type of divination is obtained, it indicates that someone is secretly helping to provide money. If the question is about gambling, this type of transmission where the final assists the initial to form wealth is particularly appropriate. If the question is about marriage, the result will be even more evident. Similar cases include when the day stem is Jiayin, Jiawu, or Guiwei, and the initial transmission is Zi. There are also instances where the final transmission assists the initial transmission to form the day stem's wealth, but the wealth then turns around to harm the god on the day stem. For example, if the day stem is Jiazi and the initial transmission is Zi, with the three transmissions being Xu, Shen, and Wu; or if the day stem is Renshen and the initial transmission is You, with the three transmissions being Wu, Chen, and Yin, it is the same. "Self-invoked Misfortune Pattern": When the person's birth year and destiny assist the initial transmission, and the initial transmission then harms the day stem, it indicates that the person is inviting misfortune upon themselves, and misfortune is certain to occur.

The closed mouth hexagram has two kinds of interpretation, third and eighth.

This lesson can also be used to detect thieves. The "Six Yin Mirror" says: the yang spirit takes the role of the Black Tortoise, and when it reaches the fourth position, it is the final yin. The "Closed Mouth Hexagram" is suitable only for capturing thieves and pursuing fugitives. Such a hexagram, even if arranged, is usually not recognized by most modern diviners, so the established methods are listed below. Whenever the "tens" (the first heavenly stem and earthly branch of the current ten-day period) is on the Earth Plate, if the spirit is riding the Black Tortoise, one lesson can be derived each day. For example, in the Jiazi ten-day period: on the Jiazi day, the戌 is placed on the Zi, and both day and night divinations show the Black Tortoise; on the Wuchen day, the戌 is placed on the Zi, and both day and night show the Black Tortoise; on the Yichou day, the卯 is placed on the Zi for day divination; on the Yichou day, the亥 is placed on the Zi for night divination; on the Wuchen day, the辰 is placed on the Zi, both day and night show the Black Tortoise; on the Gengwu day, the戌 is placed on the Zi, both day and night show the Black Tortoise; on the Gengwu day, the辰 is placed on the Zi, both day and night show the Black Tortoise; on the Jisi day, the卯 is placed on the Zi for day divination; on the Jisi day, the亥 is placed on the Zi for night divination; on the Bingyin day, theHidden Chant lesson is for night divination; on the Bingyin day, the申 is placed on the Zi for day divination; on the Bingyin day, the寅 is placed on the Zi for day divination; on the Dingmao day, theHidden Chant lesson is for night divination; on the Dingmao day, the返吟 lesson is for night divination.

In the Jia Shen week: On Jia Shen day, the Xu branch is placed on Shen, counted both day and night; on Wu Zi day, the Xu branch is placed on Shen, counted both day and night, and again the Xu branch is placed on Shen, counted both day and night; on Geng Yin day, the Xu branch is placed on Shen, counted both day and night; on Yi You day, the Hai branch is placed on Shen for night divination, and the Mao branch is placed on Shen for day divination; on Bing Xu day, the Zi and Wu branches are placed on Shen for night divination, and also for reverse chant and hidden chant, counted for day divination; on Ding Hai day, the Wu and Zi branches are placed on Shen for night divination, and also for reverse chant and hidden chant, counted for day divination; on Ren Chen day, the Zi and Wu branches are placed on Shen for night divination, and also for reverse chant and hidden chant, counted for day divination; on Yi You day, the Si branch is placed on Shen for night divination, and the You branch is placed on Shen for day divination. In the Jia Xu week: For all days with Jia, Wu, and Geng stems, reverse chant and hidden chant lessons are counted both day and night; on Yi Hai day, the Si and Hai branches are placed on Xu for night divination, and the Mao and You branches are placed on Xu for day divination; on Ji Mao day, the Mao and You branches are placed on Xu for day divination, and the Ji and Hai branches are placed on Xu for night divination.

The three decades of Jia Wu, Jia Chen, and Jia Yin have only the Heaven Plate's beginning of the decade riding on the Black Tortoise, but not the Earth Plate's beginning of the decade riding on the Black Tortoise, because the Black Tortoise cannot go to the Southeast direction. However, the method of interpretation can still be applied as mentioned above. Whenever the end of a decade (the last earthly branch of the current decade) is added to the beginning of the decade and rides on the Black Tortoise, this only occurs in the Jia Zi and Jia Shen decades, but not in the Jia Xu decade. As for the case where the end of the decade is added to the beginning of the decade and initiates the transmission, if the first and last transmissions are connected to form the Six Harmonies, the energy becomes blocked in the middle: in divination about illness, it indicates severe loss of voice or a condition of locked mouth dysentery, or else throat swelling, phlegm-induced fainting, and inability to eat; in divination about pregnancy and childbirth, the child born will be mute; in divination about theft, even if people see the thief steal, they will not speak out; whenever one seeks others' help in matters, people remain silent, not even revealing whether or not the matter exists.

When divining other matters, one must carefully examine the accompanying Heavenly General and classify them accordingly for interpretation: if the superior Heavenly General is the Nobleman, then the result is that the Nobleman does not approve; if the superior is the Vermilion Bird, then in matters of litigation, the case is difficult to clear; if the superior is the White Tiger, then in litigation, the person is forced to admit guilt without clarity; the rest follow similar patterns. In summary, all these situations inevitably involve the meaning of "keeping silent," and this method is especially useful. For example, the five days of Jiashen, Bingxu, Dinghai, Renchen, and Gengyin all have the transmission starting with the branch Si (Snake) over Shen (Monkey); the seven days of Jiayin, Wuwu, Guihai, Bingchen, Dingsi, Jiwei, and Gengshen all have the transmission starting with the branch Hai (Pig) over Yin (Rat); among these, only Bingchen and Dingsi are considered as "keeping silent" transmissions. Another example: the three days of Jiawu, Gengzi, and Dingyou all have the transmission starting with the branch Mao (Ox) over Wu (Horse); the day of Jiachen has the transmission starting with the branch Chou (Ox) over Chen (Tiger); the day of Yisi also has the transmission starting with the branch Chou (Ox) over Chen (Tiger); the days of Jiazi and Dingmao have the transmission starting with the branch You (Rooster) over Zi (Rat) (the original text says "You added," and "了" is likely a homophone error for "子"); the days of Jiaxu and Yihai have the transmission starting with the branch Wei (Sheep) over Xu (Dog). Although not all of these are definitely "keeping silent" transmissions, any instance where the end of a ten-day period is added to the beginning of the next period carries the implication of "keeping silent," and each of the six ten-day periods has such a lesson.

"Lux Zuo Bi Kou" (Lucky Post Closed Mouth): On the Xinwei day, when the酉 (Metal Ox) is placed on the寅 (Wood Tiger), it is very unfavorable for divination regarding illness, because the day's lucky post (Lux) coincides with the closed mouth (Bi Kou). This does not belong to the category of the end of the ten-day cycle (Shen Wei) added to the beginning. For example, on the Yiwei day, when the卯 (Wood Rabbit) is placed on the申 (Metal Monkey) or酉 (Metal Ox), if it is night divination and the White Tiger (Bai Hu) is present, or the Black Tortoise (Yuan Wu) is present—this refers to the position on the Heaven Plate (Tian Pan), not within the Three Transmissions (San Chuan) or Four Lessons (Si Ke)—it also does not belong to the category of the end of the ten-day cycle added to the beginning. On the Xinwei day, when the酉 is placed on the戌 (Earth Dog), and it is night divination, the White Tiger is also present. In addition, on the Bingxu and Wuzi days, the禄神 (Lucky Post) is at巳 (Fire Snake) as the closed mouth, but it does not carry the White Tiger. On the Renxu day, the禄神 is at亥 (Water Pig) as the closed mouth, and it also does not carry the White Tiger.

"Treasure is closed mouth" or "Food God is in empty" both have the same interpretation as previously mentioned. For example, on Bingyin day stem with branch酉, and Dingmao day stem with branch酉, on Jiaxu day stem with branch未, on Renchen and Guisi days with branch巳, on Gengzi and Xinchou days with branch卯, on Jiachen and Yisi days with branch丑, and on Wuwu and Jiwei days with branch亥, these cases either have the treasure爻 blocked at the mouth or the food god爻 in empty. They all indicate that one cannot speak out and things cannot be accomplished.
