The terrain is uneven and rugged, then becomes flat.
Charting guides: BaZi Chart Calculator
When many stars are crowded in the same palace or share the same degree, there are inevitably both beneficial and harmful interactions among them, so the path is not always smooth or easy. For example, when the Moon meets the Mars star, if it occurs at the full moon, it results in an eclipse; if it occurs during the day, it becomes difficult and uneven. However, if it is born at night and has not yet reached the full moon, the fire can actually enhance its brightness. Another example is when the Mars star and the 'Moon孛' are both in the亥 palace, they form a confrontational situation. This is discussing the situation where many stars overlap and gather together, which should also be carefully examined: when many stars are in the same palace, some may have a favorable position, while others may not, and they also interact through mutual generation and mutual control, so whether the outcome is凶 or吉 is not the same for all.
Controls the supervision of good and evil
The stars like Mars, Luo Hou, Ji Du, and Yue Bo are originally malevolent stars, but if they are born for me or transform into benevolent stars such as the Fortune Star and the禄 Star and reside in favorable palaces, they should not be universally regarded as malevolent stars. Some may achieve wealth and honor at a young age. The Purple Qi, Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury are originally benevolent stars, but if they overcome me or transform into imprisoned or restrained stars residing in adverse palaces, they should be treated as malevolent stars. Therefore, if something should not be malevolent but becomes malevolent, it is extremely harmful. If something should not be favorable but becomes favorable, it is exceptionally beneficial. This means that when encountering good influences, good outcomes follow; when encountering bad influences, bad outcomes follow.
Interchange the emphasis between light and heavy.
For example, if the person's destiny falls in the field of property and the property master falls in the destiny palace, if the person's destiny falls in the wealth palace and the wealth master falls in the destiny palace, if the official destiny falls in the destiny palace and the person's destiny falls in the official palace, if the fortune virtue master guards the destiny and the person's destiny guards the fortune virtue, these are all cases of exchanging light for heavy, and they indicate wealth and honor. There are also cases where the master of an idle palace enters the destiny palace, and the person's destiny guards an idle palace; the person's destiny enters a killing palace, and the killing star enters the destiny palace; the person's destiny enters the servant palace, and the servant master enters the destiny palace. These are all cases of exchanging heavy for light. In considering these exchanges, it is best to also take the body palace and destiny palace into account. Exchanging light for heavy leads to not being rich but being honored; exchanging heavy for light leads to not being poor but being lowly.
Mother and child aspect
The star that generates me is the mother star, and the star that I generate is the son star. The mother star can resolve the enemy star, and the son star can resist the enemy star. These stars should be close and facing my palace or my destiny palace, or they should be in通关, 对照, or Triple Harmony, with mutual support from left and right, which is auspicious. As for those who consider the Moon as the mother star and the Water star as the son star, that is another interpretation, not the one discussed here.the so-called "向" means facing my body palace and destiny palace;the so-called "侧" means turning one's face away and walking backwards, turning one's head without looking back. The mother and son stars should face me, while the enemy and difficult stars should be on the side or back, facing away.
Body and Use: Flexibility and Extension
The heavenly stem is called "ti" (body), and the earthly branch is called "yong" (use). The classics say: if the heavenly stem is weak and the earthly branch is strong, it is like withered crops encountering rain; if the heavenly stem is strong and the earthly branch is weak, it is like rowing against the current to overcome a shoal. The classics also say: those with a weak heavenly stem and a strong earthly branch may rise to prominence but will not last long; those with a strong heavenly stem and a weak earthly branch may eventually achieve some honor but will not reach the highest level.
The sun and moon are bright.
The classic says: nothing is more esteemed than the sun and moon. The sun and moon are the essence of yin and yang, and the leaders of all the stars. Those born in the day are influenced by the sun, and those born at night are influenced by the moon. It is necessary for the sun and moon to shine clearly, and for auspicious stars to accompany them, in order to be considered genuine. This is the source of wealth and honor. If the sun meets the fire star, or the stars Luo Hou and Mu Xing, or if the Jupiter and Zi Qi stars are in the Lion's Palace, then it is not good. Similarly, if the moon meets the earth star, or Ji Du, or if Tian Yi and Zi Qi chase the moon, it is also not good. Moreover, if many harmful stars attack the sun and moon, it is also bad. It is also said that if the sun and moon are in dark positions, they cannot be considered auspicious. Therefore, the fate of a nobleman requires the sun and moon to be clear and distinct. Only those with clear and distinct sun and moon are noblemen.
The sun represents the king and the father, while the moon represents the queen and the mother. If the palace of the body, the palace of destiny, official fortune, and fortune virtue are close to the sun, it indicates prosperity and status; if the sun and moon enclose the palace of the body or the palace of destiny, or enclose official fortune and fortune virtue, they also signify honor and distinction—these are all signs of being near the king. If there areInauspicious Sha (evil stars) and four miscellaneous stars mixed in, it is like having wicked people standing by the king's side. Even though one may appear prosperous, it will not last long and cannot be considered truly distinguished. Therefore, if the stars of the body and destiny face the sun, they can receive the strength of the father; if the moon is bright and close to the palace of destiny, they can receive the support of a virtuous mother. However, if the sun and moon although facing each other, those born in the day use the moon and those born at night use the sun, or if the moon is alone in the cold winter, then even though the parents are good, it is ultimately considered a case of separation and contradiction. This section discusses whether the sun and moon are facing in a timely manner, and there is a distinction between day and night. The sun and moon are the parents of a person, as well as the king and queen, so when a person's destiny is close to them, it signifies the affection between father and child. If they are separated, even with affection, they cannot be harmonious.
Blessing official is clear and healthy.
The classics say: nothing is more auspicious than the Fortune Star and the Official Star. If the Fortune Star is strong, a person will have wealth, happiness, and longevity throughout their life; if the Official Star is pure, one will gain prestige, honor, and high status in officialdom. These two stars can only bring good fortune if they are in their proper position, close to the Sun and Moon, and not subjected to clashes or suppression by malevolent stars. Therefore, it is said: the Literary Star is not as superior as the Fortune Star; the Official Star facing the Sun indicates a strong configuration. The Fortune and Official Stars are the supports for those in official positions. Once they are misplaced or fall into decline, the official career will not proceed smoothly, leading to stagnation and hardship.
The body and life are the origin.
The person's main star is the star belonging to the zodiac degree of the命宫; the body's main star is the Taiyin, and the degree where Taiyin is located also counts as the body's main star. In star divination, there is a distinction between the main star of the palace and the main star of the degree; one cannot only take the main star of the命宫 as the main star of the person, and the main star of the degree should not be ignored. For example: the main star of the palace is like a state, and the main star of the degree is like a county; there is no way to reach the state without first going through the county. I think the main star of the palace is like a family, and the main main star of the degree is like the head of the family in the house; within one palace, there are roughly three types of main stars, and the star sitting on the degree is like the master of the family.
All members of a family and relatives and friends are determined by the preferences of the head of the household. Therefore, if the degree ruler is the planet of wood, then water is considered the benevolent star and metal is the hostile star; if the degree ruler is not wood, then it is a different matter. If we only generally discuss the ruler of the命宫 (life宫), we will certainly not accurately judge fortune and misfortune. From this we can see that those who only discuss the ruler of each house without considering the degree ruler are not as accurate as the old method. I firmly take Guolao's approach as the main principle and the methods of various schools as the secondary, prioritizing the degree ruler and then the ruler of the house. Knowing the correct order of priority brings us close to the right path.
The body ruler is considered important by all schools; however, Guolao said that we should use the body ruler, life ruler, and degree ruler together, especially crucial. Investigating the body ruler, life ruler, and degree ruler, one cannot discuss them generally. In my opinion, not only should the palace ruler and degree ruler be considered, but also the four rulers are essential, namely the palace ruler, degree ruler, body ruler, and the ruler of body and degree. Both palace and degree, as well as body and degree, are my rulers. The differences do not lie in the palace ruler and degree ruler themselves, but in distinguishing between the benevolent star and the difficult star. Therefore, different schools have arisen. Some people encounter the benevolent star but do not prosper, while others meet the difficult star yet have no misfortune. This is because they are rigid and do not understand flexibility. A skilled observer of stars should consider the four seasons and day and night, distinguish yin and yang, brightness and darkness, delay and conceal, and differentiate direction, opposition, conjunction, and compression. This is the unchanging conclusion throughout the ages.
The诀 says:
The song says: People in the world do not understand the principles of star divination, and are unwilling to put in effort to grasp them, only seeking a living through verbal communication. They regard the degree where one is born as merely a hollow name, and take the stars in the命宫 as the main factor. How yin and yang lines intertwine and cross each other, ordinary people cannot see their beginning and end. One must know that the stars in each palace can be discussed according to the palace god, but the命元 must be based on the degree. This is the profound secret of the master, which is only shared with a truly enlightened and virtuous person.
When examining stars related to official position, fortune virtue, property, wealth, spouse, and children, one should only refer to the rulers of each palace; however, the native's birth time must be judged according to the ruler of the degree. Therefore, all stars can be discussed in terms of palace deities, but the native's birth time must be based on the degree ruler. The rule for determining the palace ruler is: the Zi and Chou palaces belong to earth, the Yin and Hai palaces belong to wood, the Mao and Xu palaces belong to fire, the Chen and You palaces belong to metal, the Shen and Si palaces belong to water, the Wu palace belongs to the sun, and the Wei palace belongs to the moon. There is also a verse that says: to know one's life's prosperity and decline, one should look at the moon; the four constellations of Zhang, Bi, Wei, and Xin are especially important for determining the native's position. Before midnight, the moon prefers to move alone, and if it is accompanied by fortune and dignity stars and the handle of the dipper, it becomes even more brilliant. Even if the moon has no light, as long as it is in the right position, it is still suitable. However, if it falls in a wooden palace during a cold month, it is not a good time. As long as it does not involve evil stars, the mother will live a long life, and the person will have bright eyes and white hair. Even if the wood star and the moon孛 are crossing each other and the star of the gate is missing, it is still considered an outstanding destiny by star scholars.
This passage emphasizes the importance of the body palace: all the success and failure in one's life depend on the body palace. If the命宫 (life palace) is exactly at the degree of the Moon (太阴), then the Moon serves both as the body ruler and the life ruler, which is called one star serving two purposes. Therefore, to understand success and failure, one should look at the Moon. Moreover, the placement of the four constellations 张, 毕, 危, 心 in the命宫 is especially important. The method to determine the body ruler is as follows: 角, 斗, 奎, 井 belong to wood; 亢, 牛, 娄, 鬼 belong to metal; 氐, 女, 胃, 柳 belong to earth; 房, 虚, 昴, 星 belong to the sun; 心, 危, 毕, 张 belong to the moon; 尾, 室, 觜, 翼 belong to fire; 箕, 壁, 轸, 参 belong to water. In summary, the Moon is always considered the body ruler.
Facing away from the gate of welcome
Stars located before the命宫 and行限 are called "向", and those after are called "背"; stars in the opposite palace are called "相对", and those in the triple harmony palace are called "关照"; stars in front are called "迎", and those behind are called "送". These factors should be considered together with both the original chart's ruling star and the current year's star to determine fortune and misfortune.

Those that come from the opposite palace, from both sides, or from the triple harmony to illuminate, are called "hooking up"; those that originally reside in their own palace and domain are called "flying in." If the hooked-up stars are beneficial, they bring good fortune; if the flying-in stars are harmful, they bring misfortune. This method is specifically used to push forward the stars of the current year, to verify the outcomes. Hooking up requires distinguishing whether it benefits me or harms me, while flying in requires discerning whether it is beneficial or harmful.
Rushing forward without caution
On the star chart, directions facing each other north-south are called "straight collision," and directions facing each other east-west are called "cross collision," both referring to mutual opposition and conflict. If the opposite direction has a good star, it is auspicious; if it has a bad star, it is inauspicious. The same principle applies when verifying with the stars of the current year. According to this, the palace of the body and the palace of the命宫, the palace of officialdom and wealth virtue, the palace of fields and houses, and the palace of wife and children should all be checked to see the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of their corresponding positions.
Discussion on the dynamic interpretation of the twelve palaces and their guardians and illuminations.
First, in examining the five stars, one must first determine the position of the sun, then add the birth time to the degree where the sun is located, in order to know which palace the destiny falls into, thus ensuring accuracy. Among these, the degree is most important, while the palace is secondary: the palace is like a state or prefecture, and the degree is like a county or town. From the town to the state, the town is always closer. Both the palace and degree should be flourishing, strong, and timely. Generally, the body ruler is more important than the destiny ruler, and the degree ruler is more important than the palace ruler. For those born at night, the body ruler and degree ruler are more important, while for those born during the day, the destiny ruler and degree ruler are more important.
The text says: If the body palace is good but the destiny palace is not, one has fortune but not longevity; if the destiny palace is good but the body palace is not, one has longevity but not fortune. The method of determining the destiny palace is based on the degree of the sun: add the birth hour to the degree of the sun, and count forward according to the person's birth time until reaching the卯 position; the palace reached at that point is the destiny palace. Then check which palace it belongs to.
First, when discussing a person's destiny, one should first determine which palace and degree the fate is located in; the palace is considered lightly, while the degree is more important. The greatest concern is when external stars harm the degree, which is considered a bad omen; if only the palace harms the degree, the harm is less severe. If there are also auspicious stars, it may still bring fame and fortune. The relationships of triple harmony and opposition also follow this principle. If the palace ruler loses its proper position, the person's vitality is weakened; if the degree ruler is out of place, it is difficult to inherit ancestral wealth; but if the limit is strong and powerful, it still indicates wealth. Therefore, a weak destiny with a strong limit is like a withered plant receiving rain, which precisely describes this principle.
The term "three harmonies" refers to triple combinations such as Shen-Zi-Chen (Water triad), Yin-Wu-Xu (Fire triad), Hai-Mao-Wei (Wood triad), and Si-You-Chou (Metal triad). The term "opposition" refers to two palaces facing each other across the chart. First, to examine a person's destiny, one must identify the main star, the degree of the destiny, the ruler of the destiny, the degree of the body, and the ruler of the body, and assess their strength and weakness to determine fortune or misfortune. It is not necessary for all main stars to be strong and well-placed. The classic text states: if one star is well-placed, it will ultimately result in a prosperous and fortunate person. It also says: if one star is in a poor position and cannot be corrected, even if all other stars are auspicious, it will not bring good fortune. Furthermore, if a favorable constellation is added, the destiny will be permanently auspicious.
For example: There may be five or seven officials in a place, and they don't all have to be familiar with each other. As long as one of them is in a position of power and influence, his attendants and the officials above and below the state will not look at him any differently. When observing the stars, one should understand the principles and determine the order of precedence. This passage uses heavenly stars to compare with human figures: For instance, during the Tang dynasty, Di Renjie was in court, and all the scholars and officials of the country called him "the only one in the southern sky." Because he recommended virtuous talents and valued capable people, the scholars and officials all praised that the peach and plum trees (symbolizing students or disciples) all grew under his gate. This is exactly the analogy being made.
First, in assessing a person's destiny, the key is to examine the four cardinal positions: either the sun and moon illuminate the four cardinal positions, or the planets Jupiter and Venus illuminate them, or the planets of fortune and official rank illuminate them, or the planet used in the calculation is located in the four cardinal positions. These are all signs of a person who will achieve high status and enjoy prosperity. There are also cases where the planets Mars, Rahu, Ketu, and Moon孛 are stationed in the four strong positions and are transformed in a favorable way, which are also considered acceptable. However, if planets such as those causing harm, imprisonment, darkness, or loss are stationed in the four cardinal positions and are further afflicted by planets that control the position of crime, then these are all indications of financial loss.
First, those born during the day should focus on the Sun, while those born at night should focus on the Moon. If someone is born during the day and the Sun is afflicted by evil stars, or if someone is born at night and the Moon is affected by凶 stars, then such individuals will inevitably be poor and short-lived. Conversely, if someone is born during the day and has auspicious stars that meet the Sun, or if someone is born at night and has auspicious stars that meet the Moon, then such individuals will certainly be wealthy and prosperous. Moreover, it is especially important that these stars meet within fifteen degrees.
First, all twelve palaces should be examined carefully: first look at the palace, then at its ruler. The palace represents the ancestors, while the rising star represents oneself. For example, if the field palace is afflicted by broken stars, kongwang,劫杀, or 耗神, but the rising star is strong, one may still establish one's own property even without ancestral inheritance. If the palace is good but the rising star is weak, although there may be property, it cannot be enjoyed, and renovation is necessary. If the five stars themselves are damaged, they must be replaced by the four additional stars, which indicate that the house is not new and not very large or spacious. Also, if the ruler of the wife palace is damaged and replaced by the four additional stars, it indicates no official wife or remarriage; if the ruler of the children palace is damaged, it may indicate that the children are not one's own. One should also consider where the palace ruler is located and how far it is from the命宫. If it is accompanied by the禄星, Nobleman, 生旺, it is auspicious. The other palaces should be examined in the same way. The four additional stars refer to the stars beyond the five, namely 紫气, 月孛, 罗睺, and 计都. Although these are considered evil stars, if they are in a favorable position, they can be used beneficially.
First, although the main stars in the twelve palaces each have their own positions, if we examine their original masters, then the stars will be lively and flowing throughout the entire chart. Those who are confused do not consider the original masters, but instead fixate on the stars themselves, focusing only on the conjunctions of the sun and moon, the close illumination of fortune and wealth, the guidance of official stars and the leading star, the elegance of metal and water, and the benevolence of the Jupiter star 'Zi Qi'. All of these are regarded as auspicious. As soon as they see gold in the寅 (Yin) position, wood in the子 (Zi) position, water in the戌 (Xu) position, earth in the巳 (Si) position, fire entering the metal's native land, metal occupying the fire's position, fire appearing in daylight, and earth appearing at night, they all categorize these as inauspicious. They do not realize that within each palace, the stars have their own six or seven levels. The discussion should be based on where they are located, evaluating their depth and weight, and considering the endless transformations of generation, control, and change. The subtle and profound applications cannot be fully explained in one sentence or confined to a single path.
Those who interpret stars have before them a person's destiny, just as they have a case to deal with. They must decide quickly and decisively, like a sharp knife cutting bamboo, without any obstruction. If one lacks true insight, they will say something is凶 (adverse) yet fear it is吉 (favorable), or say it is吉 yet doubt it is凶, resulting in confusion and indecision, unable to distinguish right from wrong. Or, if one's knowledge is not yet thorough, yet boasts of being able to make decisive judgments, they will make mistakes in one place and errors in another, with no reliable basis for fortune or misfortune. One must have a solid foundation through proper transmission and accurate insight, so that when discussing, it is as natural as a shadow following the form or an echo responding to a sound. When one speaks, they hit the mark without even realizing it. Only then can one be considered truly skilled in judgment.
Astrological interpretation should be as precise as an experienced official handling a case, with each word and principle accurately applied, only then can one be considered the ancestor of the star scholars. First, all five planets are used according to the palace they occupy, and thus are evaluated according to the human plate; they should still be analyzed palace by palace as previously explained, without losing order. One must also consider whether they are in command (得令), which gives them strength, or out of command (失令), which weakens them. One should also avoid situations where they are cut off from their path (断躔失次), or join with the four additional planets (四余), or combine with many malevolent stars (众煞), which would result in great misfortune, and then they should be evaluated according to the malevolent stars. Furthermore, one should examine the relationships of mutual support or mutual control between the triple harmonies (三合) and opposing palaces (对冲): mutual support brings good fortune, while mutual control brings misfortune. The human plate refers to the distribution of the stars that are seated in the original chart across each palace and degree, which is used to determine fortune and misfortune.
First, once the destiny palace is determined, we need to check whether the person was born during the day or at night. Those born during the day should not have Mars, Jupiter, 'Yuebo', Taiyin, or 'Luohou' influencing their destiny; those born at night should not have Saturn, Wood Star, the Sun, or 'Zi qi' influencing their destiny. These are called the Five Deficient Stars, which all indicate poverty and low status; even if they are not poor, they will have many worries and few joys, experiencing ups and downs throughout their lives, and end up with a difficult old age. In summary, those born during the day should not encounter Yin stars, and those born at night should not encounter Yang stars. For those born during the day, the Sun should be in the six palaces of寅, 卯, 辰, 巳, 午, 未 to form the 'Sun Rising towards Light' pattern; if the Sun is in the six palaces of申, 酉, 戌, 亥, 子, 丑 for someone born during the day, it is considered inappropriate. For those born at night, they should have Taiyin influencing their destiny, and during their life span, Mars, 'Luohou', and 'Yuebo' should be the governing stars, which is considered appropriate.
One, if the命宫 is located at the禄位, 财库, Nobleman, Growth, 殿驾, as well as 荫旺, 卦气, 斗杓, 唐符, and 国印, it indicates wealth and honor. These stars are all secrets used by Guo Lao, and they belong to a different system from the five elements. One, if the命宫 is located at 杀, 劫杀, The Yang Blade, 天雄, Kongwang, 死绝, or 飞廉, which are all killing stars, or if the命度 itself governs 杀, then the person tends to have a bad nature, be deceitful, act strangely, be fierce and cruel without compassion, and work hard for basic needs, experiencing ups and downs throughout life. They may also suffer from conflicts with parents, lack of family support, and have to leave their ancestral home, break the family fortune, and be adopted by others to establish their own life in order to avoid misfortune. These stars should be considered within the context of the killing stars, not among the five elements.
One, if the命宫 is occupied byKongwang, or if the main star's position also sits onKongwang, or if「桃花」comes withThe Post-horse, and further accompanied by金星 and水星, it indicates that the person is generous and romantic, fond of singing and enjoying the pleasures of life; for women, it often leads to becoming a prostitute. For women, ifTaohua is accompanied byThe Post-horse, it suggests that they may run away from their husbands, or else leave their hometown to search for their husbands, traveling far away. One, the ten heavenly stems each have their own considerations when sitting on the命: for example, those born in the year of甲, should not have their命 established on the metal degree, which is called「鬼克」, leading to unrest and hard work; they prefer to sit on the degree where they are appropriately born and controlled. If甲 sits on the water degree, it is called sitting above parents; if it sits on the earth degree, it is called sitting above wealth; if it sits on the fire degree, it is called being out of the circle, and one should be careful. In general, it is best to sit on the degree that is in season and favorable. The rest of the heavenly stems follow the same principle.
The degree where the native's destiny is located should harmonize with the heavenly stem of the birth year, and it is not desirable for them to be in mutual control. This secret is known by few. The same applies to the nayin sound element. First, those born during the day should be governed by the yang stars, while those born at night should be governed by the yin stars. Those born during the day, if their destiny is located in寅午戌 or申子辰, should be governed by the sun, jupiter, jupiter, and water stars. Those born at night, if their destiny is located in巳酉丑 or亥卯未, should be governed by the moon, metal star, and fire star. This brings the greatest fortune. If someone born during the day uses yin stars or someone born at night uses yang stars, this is considered to be against the natural order, leading to confusion between yin and yang, and the attainment of fortune will be very slow. The classic says: if all three harmonious positions are against the natural order, the person is merely a name without real authority. This refers to the concept of being in harmony or against the natural order. The term "empty nobleman without official position" is like an official who receives a title through hereditary privilege, having a title but no real power. Regarding the concept of "夹命" (enclosure of destiny), it is desirable if the sun and moon enclose the destiny, or if the fortune and official stars enclose the destiny, or if the official star and the star of merit enclose the destiny, or if the three harmonious positions enclose the destiny. All these are signs of great wealth and honor. If the destiny degree and the body destiny degree are located elsewhere but still enclose the destiny, as long as there is no contradiction, it is also a sign of great fortune. All these aspects belong to the pure and noble methods of interpretation.
One, the sectors where劫杀, 刑杀, Wangshen, and Yangren are located, if there are also auspicious stars above them, the degree of calamity is beyond description, and it may lead to a violent death. One, when examining a person's destiny, if all the stars are gentle and kind, they cannot achieve great accomplishments, and they must have a malevolent star to support their authority. Generally, if there are many auspicious stars and few malevolent ones, it is considered auspicious; if there are many malevolent stars and few auspicious ones, it is considered malevolent. A nobleman's destiny requires authority to govern worldly affairs.the so-called善柔 refers to stars that are pure and not mixed; at this time, it is actually necessary to have a malevolent star mixed in order to be esteemed.
One, all the evil and weak stars in the命宫 should be placed in a weak and declining position; those bright and prominent stars should be placed in a strong and elevated position. One, no命 should have stars overly exposed: for example, the禄 star exactly in the禄 position, the福 star exactly in the福宫, or the金 and水 stars flanking the太阳 in the命, all are considered very prominent, which is called 'exposure', and this is contrary to achieving great wealth and high status. One, the命 of a nobleman is mostly appearing weak and unremarkable, but among them there is always one star that is useful, either sitting in the杀 position but getting the right time, or the官禄 star being lifted up, with a good star secretly added to that position, and such cases are all indicative of high status.
First, the method of examining each star is the same as examining a person's destiny. One must also look at the Triple Harmony and the directly opposite directions in order to judge whether something is auspicious or inauspicious. When examining the命宫 (destiny palace), first look at the stars that are rising and coming from the sky, then look at those that are crossing horizontally and directly confronting. Determine whether they are auspicious or not. If the田宅宫 (residence palace) is auspicious, one can enjoy the family's inheritance and live a life free from disasters; if the官禄宫 (officials' palace) is auspicious, then servants, carriages, and horses will be abundant, and one will achieve honor, wealth, and prosperity; if the妻妾宫 (spouse's palace) is auspicious, then husband and wife will be in harmony, live together until old age, and brothers will also be harmonious — this is the person who possesses all five blessings. However, if these three areas are disrupted by malevolent stars, even if one has wealth and status, it will not be secure. The classics say: the most important thing is that the four straight directions should be mutually supportive. This is exactly what they mean.
The field of property and land belongs to the same chart as illness and misfortune, and appearance. The official rank field belongs to the same chart as wealth and servants. The spouse field belongs to the same chart as fortune virtue and brothers. When examining the palace deities and main stars of each field, one must consider the triple harmony, checking whether there is generation or overcoming, and the state of the stars. First, the season is most important: in spring, wood is in command; in summer, fire; in autumn, metal; in winter, water; and in the months of the four seasons, earth is in command. If during the strong period of metal, the metal and water stars come to guard and illuminate, it may result in loneliness and poverty, and if the birth palace is also in the same position, it is the same. As for winter fire stars being close to the sun and the lunar eclipse, it is not a problem. In addition, one must closely examine the states of prosperity, decline, rest, captivity, death, and exhaustion.
First, the most important thing is to examine the sun and moon: heaven and earth take the sun and moon as their main elements. The sun and moon must be bright and pure to be considered noble and prominent. The classic text says, "The nobleman's sun and moon should be clear and distinct," which means exactly this. First, the order of assessing a person's destiny is: first look at the Tian Jing and Di Wei stars, which is most important; next, look at the three yuan, the master of fortune, the Heavenly Horse, and the Earthly Post; then examine how the auspicious stars are distributed, whether the overall pattern is one of mutual generation or mutual control; then look at the arrangement of various harmful stars, carefully analyzing them, so that the determination of good or bad fortune can be made. All the Tian Jing and Di Wei stars should be suitable for being flanking and supporting each other while also being in a favorable position to be noble; the Heavenly Horse, Earthly Post, and the three yuan and master of fortune should also be suitable for being strong, returning to their proper place, and ascending to the hall to be noble.
First, if the person's destiny and the ruler of the degree are able to support the sun and fall in a strong and auspicious palace, they will certainly be wealthy. If the ruler of official fortune supports the sun, they will certainly achieve high status, even an ordinary person can approach a nobleman. The master said: The凶曜 listed at the beginning of the calendar are often due to people not examining themselves clearly. First, if the auspicious stars retreat and fall into a weak position, their power is reduced by half. If the harmful stars are combined with the yin and yang stars, transforming harm into benefit, it will not greatly affect the overall situation, but some disasters are inevitable.
The planet Mars, Luo Hou, Ji Du, and Yue Bo are only suitable to move alone; if they meet each other, it will be very凶. They should be considered according to the palace they are in, and their respective taboos should be observed. If they are in mutual generation with the native's destiny and are strong, they indicate wealth but lack benevolence. If they meet by opposition or triple harmony, they indicate the hardship of parents. If the Purple Qi is at the native's destiny and meets triple harmony, it will definitely lead to loneliness and a tendency to become a monk or a Taoist. In general, if they are harmonious with me, it is auspicious; if they are harmful, it is inauspicious. If these stars appear during the life period, it is likely that the person will become benevolent and inclined towards religion or even become a monk or a Taoist. After this period, they will return to their usual ways. The general principle is like the human body. Jupiter and Purple Qi prefer clarity and high moral standards. If a person meets them, they will love a quiet and peaceful life, but they will inevitably be lonely.
There is a category of people whose birth time cannot be accurately determined. Sometimes the Zi hour is mistakenly recorded as Hai hour, and the Hai hour is mistakenly recorded as Zi hour. Also, the first four parts of an hour are sometimes mistaken for the last four parts, and the last four parts are mistaken for the first four parts. Once the hour is wrong, the position of the mansion where the命宫 is located shifts, and the positions of the eleven celestial bodies also change accordingly. Therefore, the fortune and misfortune predicted will not be accurate, and it is necessary to use addition and subtraction calculations to determine the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness, and to see whether the person is being benefited or harmed, before one can discuss the prediction of good or bad fortune. The classic text says: first, one must not rigidly adhere to fixed rules, and second, one must be brave enough to make a judgment. If one hesitates to make a judgment simply because the fortune and misfortune do not come true, then the fundamental principles cannot be discussed at all. Generally, in rural areas, there are no town bells to mark the hours, and people often encounter cloudy and rainy weather, making the sky and climate inconsistent, making it difficult to determine the exact time. Also, parents who are overly indulgent and foolish may listen to others saying that a certain hour is inauspicious or auspicious, and then choose the auspicious one to report. Therefore, when the fortune and misfortune do not come true, those who predict fate should carefully consider and not pass on errors, so as not to damage this art themselves. The "Seven Celestial Officials Calendar" records the distinction of "night Zi hour," and also includes calculations for the upper four parts and lower four parts of an hour: the upper four parts are entirely yin, and the lower four parts are entirely yang; the upper four parts of the night Zi hour are still counted as the day's hour, while the lower four parts are counted as the next day's hour—this is the only part that is most difficult to distinguish.
