Continuation on the Distribution and Suitability of the Seven Stars and Four Excesses, and the Authenticity of the Chart's Pattern

The phrase "Taiyi Bao Chan" refers to the conjunction of the Moon孛 and the Moon's dark phase, but people often mistakenly call it "Taiyi Bao Chan" whenever the Moon孛 and the Moon are together. In reality, it is only correct when this conjunction occurs between the first quarter and the full moon, or after the full moon until the last quarter, and the conjunction is seen in the Wei palace. Additionally, the person's birth time must be in the hours of Xu, Hai, Zi, or Chou. If these conditions are not met, it is called "Bao Gui" instead. If this occurs during a waning moon or a dark moon, it becomes "Bao Si Gui," which is actually harmful rather than beneficial. The term "Ji Wang" refers to the time after the full moon. "Taiyi" refers to the Moon孛, and "Chan" refers to the Moon's dark phase. When the Moon孛 and the Moon's dark phase are in the same palace, specifically in the Wei or You palace, and they enter the area of the Ghost Mansion (Gui Xu), it is considered even more auspicious.
The configuration "Wood and Rahu meeting and retreating" is only auspicious when it occurs in theYin Palace, because the Wood Star favors the寅 and Rahu enjoys the寅, and the two stars complement each other, thus forming the "meeting and retreating" configuration. If it falls in any other palace, it is not considered valid. This is based on the mutual generation between the two stars, leading to a fire formation which brings honor. The configuration "Fire Qi as authority" is most auspicious in theYin Palace andMao Palace, because fire is born in the寅 and reaches its peak in the卯. The寅 is the favored place for the Purple Qi Star, and the卯 is where the Purple Qi Star thrives. Since the Fire Qi Star and the Purple Qi Star complement each other, this configuration indicates holding authority, without the need to distinguish between day and night as a disadvantage. The configuration "Wood and Moon孛 as symbol and seal" is only valid in theWei Palace, because the Wood Star rises to its palace in the未 and the Moon孛 enters its temple in the未, with both stars in their proper places, thus bringing honor. If it falls in any other palace, the fortune is reduced by half. The stars of Fire, Rahu, Kedi, and Moon孛 are four凶曜. Whether they transform into凶 or吉, they are most suitable when they move alone, indicating the possession of great power. The Purple Qi Star is considered a disaster, but it is still milder compared to the Saturn Star.
Saturn is the planet that brings calamity most slowly, causing diseases to persist and be difficult to cure, making people dull and lazy, and leading to tasks that start well but are left unfinished. Saturn moves the slowest, taking twenty-nine years to complete one orbit around the sky, hence it is associated with prolonged and difficult recovery from illness. The planet Venus should not be positioned over the Yang Blade, the killing star, or Jiesha, because Venus naturally governs severity and killing, and if it meets otherInauspicious Sha, the malevolent energy becomes even stronger, resulting in extremely severe malefic influences. When the configurations of LuoHou and JiDu block or intercept, it is not favorable for the Sun to appear alone outside. Violating this principle is called 'the solitary king without assistance,' which is very unfavorable. Because the Sun represents the king, it is hoped that the five planets will support and accompany it, or that they will form a supportive configuration from both sides, which is considered auspicious. If the Sun is alone outside, the person will have a life full of toil and hardship, rarely receiving help from others. Even if they try to get close to others, others tend to keep their distance.
The configuration where LuoHou and JiDu cut across half of the Heaven Plate can be both凶 and吉. If LuoHou or JiDu cuts the left side while the limit of the life path moves on the right, or vice versa, it is called "reverse back," because the limit of the life path does not meet with the other stars. There is also a distinction called "different rising and sinking." If someone is born during the day and the stars are cut across the areas of Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, but the limit of the life path moves to You, Xu, Hai, Zi, Chou, Yin, which are starless areas, it is not appropriate. Similarly, if someone is born at night and the stars are cut across You, Xu, Hai, Zi, Chou, Yin, but the limit of the life path moves to Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, which are starless areas, it is also inappropriate—these are called different rising and sinking and are not acceptable. Conversely, even though JiDu and LuoHou cut across the Heaven Plate, if there are still usable stars left outside, those stars leaking out to the Southeast during the day or to the Northwest at night indicate great fortune.
The Taiyin is transformed into metal, wood, water, fire, or earth according to the heavenly stem of the birth day. If Taiyin is transformed into water, it does not like the earth star to be in the same degree as the moon; if Taiyin is transformed into wood, it is not allowed for the metal star to be in the same degree as the moon; the rest can be inferred similarly. Those who violate this rule are likely to suffer from illness and must be cautious of conflicts and suppression. If they also fall into Kongwang, Wangshen, or Jiesha, it is certain that such a person is prone to spreading rumors and speaking inconsistently. If the command star is located before the sun, it is called 'Wangjin' (prosperous advancement); if the person is located before the sun, it is called 'Tejin' (special advancement), also known as the command star. If the command star guards the sun, it is called 'command star as balance,' which indicates power and prestige. If the person and the command star are located after the sun, it is called 'Houjin' (post-advancement), and the fortune is halved. The metal star and water star guard the sun and do not leave the two palaces before and after the sun.
When many stars are in conjunction, there is always a preceding and a following one. For all evil stars, people hope they come first; for the main star, they hope it comes later. For example, if the water star and the fire star are in conjunction, water controls fire and thus becomes a harmful star. If water comes before fire, it cannot control fire; but if fire comes before water, the harmful influence is close at hand, causing the greatest harm, which must be carefully observed. The classic text says: if the harmful star is ahead and the main star is behind, one should be in a position of support and assistance; if the harmful star is behind and the main star is ahead, there will certainly be punishment or exile. This is exactly the meaning. The term 'support and assistance' refers to positions such as the governor of the province. When many stars gather, there can be both good and bad gatherings: if the ruler of destiny, the ruler of the degree, the ruler of the body, the official leader, the fortune star, the official star, as well as transformed nobility, transformed shadow, transformed power, and transformed seal gather together, it is a good gathering. Even if stars like the fire star, Rahu, Ketu, and the moon's companion gather, as long as they are beneficial, they are considered a good gathering. However, if the gathering includes the Yang Blade, Jiesha, and transformed punishment, transformed imprisonment, transformed darkness, and transformed consumption, these are all bad gatherings, indicating the invitation of misfortune.
All the stars should clearly distinguish between good and evil, and should not be mixed together. Therefore, good stars are responsible for auspiciousness, while evil stars are responsible for inauspiciousness. The stars of fortune and official rank should move separately to bring good fortune. If the star of fortune meets the star of punishment, or the star of official rank meets the spirit that consumes energy, then good and evil become mixed, which indicates that success and failure in fame and wealth will both occur, and in the end, one will achieve nothing in worldly affairs. When the five stars move in reverse, some will still have strength even when retreating, while others will lose their strength when retreating. For example, if the fire star and the metal star move together, with the metal star ahead and the fire star behind, moving in reverse, then the evil star will not dare to move forward to overcome the metal star, which is called "retreating but still strong." However, if the metal star moves in reverse and meets the fire star, while the fire star moves forward to overcome the metal star, this is called "retreating but weak." Other cases can be similarly inferred. Those that still ascend to the palace and enter the domain, or meet a beneficial star, during their retreat are considered "having affection," and are still regarded as auspicious. Conversely, those that retreat and lose their proper position, meet evil stars, or fall into a weak palace are considered "without affection," and are definitely regarded as inauspicious.
The star of retrograde movement brings either great benefit or great harm, because it moves slowly and stays for a long time. The classic text says: when a star is in a retrograde degree, both good and evil effects are clearly distinguished and have a strong connection. Therefore, diviners should carefully examine this. All stars governing a person's destiny have their own inherent nature, capable of bringing good fortune or misfortune. These discussions have been repeatedly verified. Among the stars in the Human Plate, not only the original governing star is important, but also the annual stars and various divine influences are crucial. They should be examined in the same way as the examples above, allowing those who understand the stars to distinguish them accordingly.
The Star Disk or Inquiry
Dongfang Shuo was collecting, arranging, revising and refining the theory of the Star Mandate system, so that it could be widely circulated. Suddenly a guest sat down and asked: The five planets are in the sky, people are on the earth, the sky and the earth are far apart and do not communicate with each other. Why do diviners use the five planets to calculate human destiny? Is there any reason behind this? I answered him: Heaven and earth are no different from yin and yang, and yin and yang are no different from the Five Phases. Humans cannot be separated from the Five Phases. The five planets are the essence of the Five Phases condensed into forms, they are the heavenly signs shown to humans. When a person is born, he receives the elite of heaven and earth, gathers the transformations of yin and yang. The stars in the sky move in their courses and meet their appointed time, while human destiny is formed on the earth and corresponds with heaven. Therefore, the bright planet appeared in a dream and Li Bai was born, the year's virtue star descended and Dongfang Shuo was born. Officials are connected with the stars in the sky, common people also have their own corresponding stars. To use the five planets to calculate human destiny is a very clear principle, but the method is very subtle, and it is only that the practitioners have not yet fully understood it.
That is to say, the vital energies of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth manifest in the heavens, appearing in orderly arrays with infinite transformations, used to foretell fortune and misfortune. Li Bai's mother dreamed of the bright star, which is also called the planet Venus, entering her embrace, and thus gave birth to him, so he was named "Bai" and given the courtesy name "Tai Bai." The one who was born when the star of virtue and fortune descended was Dongfang Shuo, who was called Manqianzi. The guest said: The theory of star and destiny is indeed reasonable, but I still do not understand how to calculate the stars and how to calculate destiny. Dare I ask why we first arrange the twelve houses: the first is the命宫 (life palace), the second is 财帛 (wealth), the third is 兄弟 (brothers), the fourth is 田宅 (residence), the fifth is 男女 (sons and daughters), the sixth is 奴仆 (servants), the seventh is 妻妾 (wives and concubines), the eighth is 疾厄 (illness and misfortune), the ninth is 迁移 (movement and travel), the tenth is 官禄 (official rank and salary), the eleventh is 奉德 (virtue and fortune), and the twelfth is 相貌 (appearance)? These names and their order, is it not somewhat forced?
I replied: In life, one's body and destiny are primary, so the Palace of Destiny comes first. Wealth is the source for sustaining life, so it comes second. Only siblings can take away one's wealth, so it comes third. The house is used to settle one's life and store wealth, and siblings also reside there, so it comes fourth. Having wealth, siblings, and property, children are the ones who inherit the family's land and wealth, so it comes fifth. Servants assist the children, so they come sixth. Concubines are of equal status to oneself and directly oppose the Palace of Destiny, so they come seventh. From the Palace of Destiny to the Palace of Wife, the order naturally follows without confusion. Disease and misfortune are inevitable in human life, so they come eighth. Migration and movement are unavoidable, so they come ninth. Official rank is bestowed by heaven, relates to one's life and is most important, so it comes tenth. Fortune and virtue are what people enjoy, depend on heavenly will, and are hardest to attain, so they come eleventh. Appearance is the external form that shapes one's body, so it comes twelfth.
Someone asked: Why is the order of the twelve houses reversed when going from illness and misfortune to appearance? Among the twelve houses, the命宫 (life house) and妻宫 (spouse house) are directly opposite each other; appearance, virtue and fortune, and official position appear in the heavens, so they are listed before the body house; wealth, siblings, and property are hidden underground, so they are mentioned after the body house; the limits of the migration, illness, and wife and concubine houses are the most urgent, because the sun has passed the午 (noon) position and its movement has accelerated. One sees appearance first, then virtue and fortune; one has virtue and fortune first, then official position; one has official position first, then experiences migration; one experiences migration first, then encounters illness and misfortune— from appearance to illness and misfortune, this follows the principle of the sun and moon preferring to rise and avoid sinking. One has wealth first, then sees siblings; one has siblings first, then divides property; one has property first, then relates to children; one has children first, then has servants— from wealth to servants, this follows the principle of the sun and moon rotating to the right. Human beings become human beings in this way, so the names of the twelve houses are sufficient to summarize a person's entire life.
Children are born from one's own destiny, while migration is primarily governed by the succession between father and son; brothers living in harmony and joy, and wife and children in peaceful and harmonious relations, these are the fortune and virtue of a person, and these two are most difficult to attain. Wealth and official rank are connected, and servants are used for serving, handling affairs, and managing wealth. Appearance may be afflicted by illness, while property and land are used for securing one's living and recovering from illness. Thus these groups form the Triple Harmony. This is the order of the twelve palaces, the fundamental nature of their mutual correspondence and succession, and the intricate functions of their interplay, which is indeed so, perhaps the master did not anticipate. This passage of the star disk dialogue is explained most subtly.
The guest said: I have already understood the principles of the twelve houses in the star chart, but why is the combination of Wu and Wei considered heavenly, and Zi and Chou considered earthly? Why is Yin and Hai considered wood, Mao and Xu considered fire, Chen and You considered metal, Si and Shen considered water? This seems different from the usual way of matching the five elements with the twelve earthly branches. How should we explain this? I replied: Among the five elements, Yin and Mao belong to wood, Si and Wu to fire, Shen and You to metal, Hai and Zi to water, and Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei to earth. This is the usual way of dividing the twelve earthly branches into the five elements. As for the star chart, Wu and Wei combine and are placed above, belonging to Qian (Heaven), so they are designated as heavenly. Zi and Chou combine and are placed below, belonging to Kun (Earth), so they are designated as earthly. Heaven above and Earth below is an unchanging fundamental principle.
The亥 branch combines with the寅 branch and belongs to spring, so it is determined to be wood; the卯 branch combines with the戌 branch and belongs to summer, so it is determined to be fire; the辰 branch combines with the酉 branch and belongs to autumn, so it is determined to be metal; the巳 branch combines with the申 branch and belongs to winter, so it is determined to be water: this is exactly the order of the four seasons. The sun and moon are attached to heaven, with the water star and metal star assisting them, so they favor metal and water; earth and stone are attached to earth, with wood and fire nurturing them, so they favor wood and fire. Although this is different from the distribution of the twelve earthly branches, the reasoning is consistent. This is turning the theory of the five stars upside down. This passage is profound and mysterious, something most people do not know.
A guest then asked: There are countless people born in a single day, yet why can one determine the destiny palace based solely on the sun and the body palace based solely on the moon, and thus judge fortune and misfortune? I still cannot fully believe this, so I dare to ask the reason. I said: That is a good question, I will explain it clearly. The shape of heaven is like an egg and it rotates to the left. The sun and moon alternate in shining and move to the right. The celestial bodies revolve around once every day, with the east constantly emerging; precisely because the east emerges, the west follows and sinks. One rising and one sinking, never stopping. The sun rises in the east, the moon sets in the west, one rising and one setting, without the slightest error.
A person is born from the womb, just as the heavens descend to the earth. If one is born at the hour of卯 (Mao), the heavens and the sun rise from the eastern side. However, after the hour of Mao, the celestial bodies become invisible, so the sun is used as the reference. Therefore, following the sun to the hour of Mao, the heavens emerge from the place of Mao. The Taiyin is the spouse of the Taiyang, and also the source from which the body originates. Therefore, the Taiyang is used to establish the destiny palace, and the Taiyin is used to establish the body palace. The body and destiny are the most important to a person, so these two palaces should be sought first. The celestial bodies have their own degrees, each with a corresponding degree. Thus, the preferences of the sun and moon are the same, and the fortune and misfortune of the body and destiny are also the same: the rising in the east corresponds to the father and the destiny palace, while the setting in the west corresponds to the mother and the body palace; the rising in the east is the Taiyang, and the setting in the west is the Taiyin; the rising in the east is the Kangleong (Kang Jinlong), and the setting in the west is the Loushigou (Lou Jinhou). This is the origin of the saying that the body and destiny are treated equally.
The guest asked again: If the principles of star and destiny divination are the same, why do some agree with the ancients but not with the present, and others work well now but were wrong in the past? What is the reason behind this? I was puzzled and dared to ask. I said: This is due to the natural movement of the heavens. The movement of the heavens is based on accumulated qi, and the sun, moon, and five stars are parts of this accumulated qi that emit light. They move along their paths, and in seventy years they deviate by one degree; the heavens are like this, let alone humans. The world has periods of rise and decline, and the fortunes of nations have times of prosperity and decline, all covered by the natural movement of the heavens. Humans are merely animals within this accumulated qi, and their own advances and retreats, their adherence or concealment of principles, are all influenced by the qi of a country and a time. This is why human destinies differ between ancient and modern times, and why star and destiny divination sometimes proves accurate and sometimes not. The guest listened and suddenly understood.

The concept of "fēnyě" refers to the matching of the twenty-eight mansions in the sky with the states, prefectures, and counties on earth. When there is a change in the stars of a particular mansion, it is believed to correspond to the region it governs. The region governed by the Dipper mansion includes eleven prefectures within the southern direct-controlled region: Yingtian, Fuyang, Taiping, Anqing, Suzhou, Songjiang, Changzhou, Zhenjiang, Huizhou, Ningguo, and Chizhou, as well as Guangde and Hezhou; three prefectures in Zhejiang: Hangzhou, Jiaxing, and Chuzhou; and thirteen prefectures in Jiangxi: Nanchang, Nanjiang, Jiujiang, Raozhou, Guangxin, Fuzhou, Jianchang, Linjiang, Ruizhou, Yuanzhou, Jianshan, Ganzhou, and Nan'an.

The term "San Chen Tong Zai" refers to the use of three sets of coordinates in star reckoning, each set being considered a "Chen." The first set is the "Shi Yi Yao," which includes the Sun, Moon, Jupiter (wood), Mars (fire), Saturn (earth), Venus (metal), and Mercury (water), along with the four additional celestial bodies: "Zi Qi," "Yue Bo," "Luo Hou," and "Ji Du." The second set is the twelve divisions of the Yellow Path. The third set is the twenty-eight constellations of the celestial sphere. When these three sets are combined and considered together, it is called "San Chen Tong Zai." Based on the principles discussed in the various chapters of this book, it appears to be an introductory and accessible text. However, it does offer significant interpretations and explanations of the old doctrines of Guo Lao Xing Zong. Scholars must compare and integrate the three sets of coordinates, rather than clinging to just one aspect, in order to truly understand the text.
The Calculation of the Year Star (Jupiter) in the Wood Section
The method for calculating the movement of the "Sui Xing" (Jupiter): first take the accumulated days of the date to be calculated, subtract 74, then divide it by the number of days Jupiter takes to orbit the sky, which is 398 days, 88 parts, and 61 fractions. Determine how many days remain, and find out which segment of its path this corresponds to. Use the degree of the Sun as the central point to determine the star's position, then subtract the remaining days. Any remainder left after subtraction is the fixed degree. The segments of its path are as follows: the morning hidden segment, which takes 17 days to cover 4 degrees, and is visible in the east in the morning when it is 13 degrees and 50 parts away from the Sun; the proceeding segment, which takes 213 days to cover 17 degrees and 76 parts; the stationary segment, which takes 213 days to cover 17 degrees and 16 parts; the morning retrograde segment, which takes 4,694 parts and 10 fractions to cover 4 degrees, 91 parts, and 85 fractions; the evening retrograde segment is the same as the previous one, the stationary segment is the same as before, and the proceeding segment is the same as before; the evening hidden segment, which takes 17 days to cover 4 degrees, and at this time, it must be at the same degree as the Sun and the Moon.

The planet Jupiter is associated with the east in the five directions, and in star lore it is called the "Year Star," symbolizing a virtuous gentleman. Its movement varies, sometimes visible in the morning, sometimes in the evening, and it also experiences phases such as being hidden, retreating, stationary, moving forward, or moving at different speeds. From the second to the third degree of the Well mansion (井宿) to the third degree of the Ghost mansion (鬼宿), it is considered to be in its "rising strength" position; from the first to the third degree of the Ghost mansion, it is in its "prime strength" position; and when it reaches the third degree of the Willow mansion (柳宿), it is called "secondary strength." When Jupiter is located over the Dou, Jiao, Kui, and Jing mansions, it is referred to as "ascending to the hall"; when it reaches the Ji mansion in the constellation of Man and Horse, it is called "joy." If a person's body mansion, life mansion, or seven strong mansion is occupied by Jupiter, it indicates that this person holds a high official position with a purple sash and golden seal. Those who receive the influence of the wood element are kind-hearted, love morality, gentle and benevolent, respectful and frugal, and are most capable of overcoming the calamities brought by the "Moon孛" and "Rohini" stars. They can also avoid the misfortunes caused by the "Flame Star" (Fire) and "Earth Star" (Earth). Even if Jupiter is in a weak mansion, as long as it is accompanied by auspicious stars and not interfered with by malevolent or harmful stars, it still indicates that this person can be close to noble people. Moreover, Jupiter itself is considered the longevity star of a person.
Jupiter located in the mansion of the Emptiness is considered to be in an inauspicious position. At this time, one should also look at which mansion it is located in. If it is located in the degree of the Emptiness mansion, it only indicates that the person will have a medium lifespan. Those born in the year of the sixth "Cheng" will have Jupiter as their "captured star." However, since Jupiter is inherently benevolent, one should not directly interpret the term "captured" as a sign of misfortune. Those born in the year of the sixth "Bing" will have Jupiter as their "favorable star." Jupiter is the leader of the year star, symbolizing the eastern Blue Dragon. When it moves in a forward direction, it brings good fortune. If it reaches the period of stagnation, also known as the "long mourning star," its blessings are hidden and not apparent. When it moves in a backward direction, also known as the "disaster star," it brings misfortune. When it is hidden and not visible, also known as the "railway star," it does not govern good or bad fortune at that time. Jupiter takes twelve years to complete one full cycle around the celestial sphere.
The song of the Year Star and the source and essence song.
A person whose destiny is governed by the planet Jupiter has a dignified appearance, clear and distinct eyes, and a rare and beautiful face. Such a person has deep cultural foundations, is intelligent by nature, and possesses many skills. They often hold benevolence and righteousness in their hearts, and understand the proper distinctions of respect and hierarchy in their dealings with others. They rarely harbor cruel thoughts, have a pleasant and approachable expression, speak with virtue, and have a love for rare and precious things. They suffer from few illnesses, have advantages in their official career, avoid dangers, and enjoy a long life, possibly living to be a hundred years old. If Jupiter is in a favorable or joyful position, it indicates a good official position; if it shares the same palace with the Purple Qi, it suggests a position responsible for handling documents. If Jupiter is in a triple harmony position and aligns with the destiny, it brings deep blessings; even if it is in the opposite palace, it still indicates a good foundation.
Jupiter conjunctions with the Sun indicate distinction through literary achievements and high official rank. If Jupiter joins the Queen Mother, which is the Moon, it suggests attaining a high position. For those born at night, when Jupiter meets the Fiery Star (Mars), it indicates control over military strategies and military affairs. If Jupiter also meets the Earth Star (Saturn), it signifies command of banners and leading military campaigns. If a malefic star interferes, Jupiter's power is weakened. When Jupiter joins the White Star (Mercury), it indicates both literary and military talents, assisting in a clear and just era. Only when Jupiter joins the Water Star (Jupiter) does it indicate high rank through the imperial examination. If Jupiter is with the Moon孛 (the Moon's Shadow), a person's nature becomes lazy and indolent, unwilling to act. If the Tail (Countenance) or the Head (Rahu) joins Jupiter, the Tail brings malevolent influence, while the Head enhances Jupiter's power. Since the Moon孛 is in the same palace as Jupiter, how can Jupiter remain unaffected?

Jupiter entering the wealth and fortune宫 indicates unexpected wealth coming in suddenly, and it is also capable of being retained. When entering the brothers宫, which is a weak position, it indicates having three brothers accompanying on both sides. When entering the house and land宫, it indicates a wealthy family with spacious houses and grand gates. When entering the fifth child宫, it especially indicates giving birth to a noble son. When entering the sixth servant宫, which is an unfavorable position, it indicates servants who are capable and useful. When entering the seventh wife and concubine宫, it indicates marrying a wife with beautiful appearance. When residing in the eighth illness and injury宫, one will have no illness or misfortune throughout life. When residing in the ninth movement and migration宫, it indicates living in another place as a guest and then returning with honor and success. When residing in the tenth official position宫, it indicates official rank and prestige. When residing in the eleventh fortune and virtue宫, it indicates longevity and a long life, which is the appearance of a long-lived person. When residing in the twelfth appearance宫, Jupiter in this position makes a person's appearance exceptionally unique and outstanding. The above has explained this branch of star and fate divination in detail. Those who study this later should carefully examine and consider it. The song refers to 'female emperor' as 'Too Yin'; 'Tai Yi' refers to 'Moon孛'; 'tail' refers to 'Ji Du' star, and 'head' refers to 'Luo' star.
The conjunction of the Star of Years and the celestial stem, the text is thus interpreted.
Jupiter meets Mars: Jupiter meets the planet of fire, which brings great joy and abundance. Those who encounter this configuration will have high official positions and extraordinary fortune and longevity. Within the limit of 100 and 60, this conjunction indicates family peace and national prosperity, with loyal ministers and filial sons in the court. Since fire represents civilization and shares the same degree as wood, diviners call this configuration "wood and fire illuminate together." Jupiter meets Saturn: Jupiter is suitable to be with Saturn (earth) in the same palace. Within the limit of 100 and 60, this meeting indicates a bountiful harvest. Those who encounter this configuration will ride in carriages, wear silk, achieve fame and success, and be recorded in history for remarkable achievements. The combination of wood and earth benefits earth to nourish wood, thus indicating high status.
Jupiter and Venus conjunct: Jupiter is most favorable when it meets with 'Tai Bai' (Metal), like auspicious stars descending, bringing forth all kinds of blessings at once; if they meet within the limit of one hundred and six months, there will be many joyful events, and the person's destiny will see him rise to high official rank within a short time. The term 'one hundred and six' refers to the number of months required to complete the cycle of twelve palaces. Jupiter and Mercury conjunct: When Jupiter and 'Chen Star' (Water) are both in the命宫, it indicates that the person is intelligent and talented, with a good reputation far and wide; if the three positions also fall into strong palaces, he will certainly achieve the top rank in the imperial examination. Wood and Water have the meaning of Water nourishing Wood and supporting each other for growth.
Jupiter meets the Purple Qi: When Jupiter and Purple Qi are together, the fortune is exceptionally abundant, and within the limit of 106, there is endless joy. If they also meet in the palace of their exaltation, it indicates deep Yin Virtue, and the person will hold a high official position, standing among generals and marquises. Purple Qi is originally the residual energy of Wood, and the two have a relationship of master and servant. Moreover, Purple Qi itself is talented and capable. Jupiter meets the Moon孛: If Jupiter meets the Moon孛, which is also called the 欃枪, even if there was initial worry or disturbance, it will eventually turn into good fortune. If they meet in the Cancer palace, it indicates success at a young age, and early achievement in the imperial examinations. Cancer is the Sixth Palace, and when these two stars meet in the Sixth Palace, the diviners call it "Jupiter and Moon孛 together bring prosperity."
Jupiter meets Rahu: When Jupiter and Rahu are in the same palace, it is most favorable if they are in a yang palace. It should also be determined whether the person was born during the day or at night. For those born during the day, they can be as upright and noble as Han Wei Gong, while those born at night may resemble Lyu Pur she, who was tall and strong. Han Qi was granted the title of Wei Guo Gong in the Song dynasty, and Lyu Du reached the position of Pur she, both being upright officials in the court. The poem uses them to illustrate the dignity of this configuration. Jupiter meets Ji Du: When Jupiter meets Ji Du, it can transform misfortune into good fortune, gathering thousands of blessings. If this occurs during the period of the hundred and six limits, the blessings naturally increase, just like crossing a great river when a boat arrives just in time.
The Star of the Year enters the palace, the essential song.
Jupiter entering the Ox: For Jupiter, the Ox is called "earth calamity," the most merciless place. When Jupiter arrives here, it is like breaking a jar. If at this time it transforms into a beneficial star, it is not harmful; but once it becomes a malevolent star, there is no way to survive. Jupiter entering the Ox is called "Jupiter breaking the jar" by diviners. Jupiter entering the Ox: This star with wood virtue is here to guard the Big Dipper, named "heavenly shade," the most comfortable and free. It signifies that achievements in fame and status can be attained in youth, benefits and honors come naturally, without the need to strive for them. This is because the Ox has the host of Dou Mu Xie, and Jupiter here is exactly in its exaltation position.
Jupiter entering theYin Palace: Jupiter in the寅 position is called "Heavenly Depth," and it particularly enjoys encountering the mutual generation energy, thus naturally enjoying peace and comfort. Those born in the year of Jia or Bing will have both fortune and official rank if they encounter this configuration. This is because the寅 is the official position of wood. Jupiter entering theMao Palace: Jupiter entering theMao Palace, this palace is referred to as "Taiwei" in the book, belonging to the Youshou region. Although it is in a position opposite to the destiny, it paradoxically becomes strong. This is a peculiar situation. However, the most important thing to be cautious about is when it transforms into a prison and punishment star. If one's destiny encounters such a prison and punishment star, it is highly inauspicious. TheMao Palace is originally a strong position for Jupiter, so when it is extremely strong, it requires extra caution against transformation.
Jupiter enters the Chen palace: Jupiter arriving at the Chen palace is called "Yu Long." If it shares the same palace with "Tai Bai" (metal), it is most auspicious and smooth. Those with a heavenly stem of Bing in their birth chart who encounter this configuration will achieve great fame, hold high official positions, and enjoy more abundant wealth. When wood and metal are both in the Chen palace, the diviners refer to this as "Jin Mu Feng Long." Jupiter enters the Si palace: Jupiter residing in the Si position is called "Tian Fu." If it meets "Chen Xing" (water), it indicates wealth and prosperity in the family. Those born in the years of Bing or Geng will achieve success in the imperial examinations at a young age. At this time, Jupiter transforms into the Tian Fu star, indicating a prosperous and affluent destiny.
Jupiter entering the Wu Palace: When the annual star arrives at the Wu position, it is called "Heavenly Virtue," which signifies a life of ease and comfort without any blockages. If it also meets the "Sun Star," wealth can increase by tenfold, and pearls can accumulate in great quantity. The Heavenly Virtue star inherently brings blessings of leisure and comfort. Jupiter entering the Wei Palace: When Jupiter enters the Wei Palace, this palace corresponds to the region of Qinzhou, known as "Jade Band." It signifies a life of enjoyment and safety. One will have a long lifespan, great fortune, and much honor and prestige, and is destined to hold a prominent position in the imperial court. At this time, Jupiter transforms into the Jade Band star, indicating the auspiciousness of being included in the court's official ranks.
Jupiter entering the Monkey palace: Jupiter is located in the Monkey position, known as "Heavenly Luan Star." It should not be regarded as an ordinary fate. A man encountering this pattern should later wear a purple sash; a woman encountering this pattern should wear a golden crown and be granted a title. The Heavenly Luan Star signifies attainment of fame, merit, and wealth. Jupiter entering the Rooster palace: Jupiter is located in the Rooster position, known as "Heavenly Qiu Star." This indicates possible imprisonment, exile, or being sent to a distant region. If the "Flashing Mars" (Fire) also arrives in this palace, it signifies sudden death in youth and danger to life. This is because the Rooster palace belongs to the Metal element, which can overcome Wood, and thus Jupiter is harmed here.
Jupiter entering the Xu palace: Jupiter transforms into the "Encouragement" star here, indicating hardship in youth, with men likely to harm their wives and women likely to harm their husbands. Though this person may have extensive knowledge of poetry and literature and be skilled in various arts, they will have to wander through the four seas to seek a livelihood. Jupiter transforming into this star signifies harm, loss, and decline. Jupiter entering the Hai palace: Jupiter is positioned at the Hai position, known as the "Central Platform." This indicates that the person is full of talent and learning, destined to be a valuable talent in the Hanlin Academy. If this is also accompanied by official stars and auspicious stars, it signifies success in youth, achieving the top rank as a状元 (top scholar). This is because the Hai palace is the long life position for wood, and it also combines the benefits of temple, joy, and strength.
