On the Jiazi day, the ninth arrangement: dry morning
Charting guides: Da Liu Ren Chart Calculator, Jin Kou Jue Chart
This divination lesson has the "Lesson Pattern" of "Original Sovereign," combined with "Moistening Down," "Cutting the Gate," "Closed Mouth," and "Encouraging Virtue." "Moistening Down" indicates that the three transmissions form a water pattern; "Closed Mouth" means the White Tiger's governing deity is placed over the initial day, causing the matter to be silent and difficult to speak of. The "Lesson Meaning" states: In daytime divination, the White Tiger's governing deity is the午 fire, which hides and becomes the day stem's official ghost. Fortunately, all the deities in the three transmissions are water, which can control the ghost and generate benefit for the self. Therefore, it first experiences disaster and danger, then eventually gains good fortune.
The fire of Wu is riding on the White Tiger, and also appears in the Jiazi decade where the heavenly stem Geng metal emerges, becoming the official ghost of Jia wood. Misfortune comes very quickly. Fortunately, all three transmissions belong to water, which can control the ghostly Geng metal and also nourish the day stem Jia wood. Therefore, one must first experience some disaster and danger, and then eventually reach a state of smoothness and ease. The day branch is riding on the storage god and also functions as the wealth hexagram. The day stem is also accompanied by the fire of Wu riding on the Tiger, so for someone who is ill, the day of Gengwu is dangerous. Whenever the god ridden by Yuanwu appears on the first day of the decade, it is considered a "closed mouth" divination, not necessarily requiring the addition of the first and last days of the decade. Moreover, the heavenly stems that emerge in the three transmissions are壬 and癸 water, indicating that the matter is mostly private but carried out under the name of the public authority.
The divination concerns the "original leader." It represents a situation where the superior controls the inferior, and the noble subjugates the humble. The matter generally follows a clear course, with the origin lying in the man. It involves more than one person, possibly relating to neighbors or relatives and friends. As for the time when the outcome will manifest, it cannot yet be determined.
Divination on weather indicates continuous rain. Divination on the household suggests caution against instability and unrest; the head of the family may be capable but lacks sufficient funds for expenses. Divination on exams indicates misfortune. Divination on seeking wealth suggests difficulty in obtaining it, and there is a fear of losing it to small-minded people. Divination on marriage indicates great misfortune. Divination on illness suggests a condition of weakness and coldness, which can be cured with treatment. Divination on pregnancy indicates an unstable fetal condition, and the child may be difficult to raise. Divination on travel suggests safety on land but danger on water. Divination on capturing criminals indicates this divination is of the 'closed mouth' type, most suitable for apprehending thieves. Divination on business indicates certain loss, and also delays in travel. Divination on military campaigns suggests victory, but there is a fear that the commander may not exert enough effort.
The "Bifa Fu" contains five sentences for reference. "Three transmissions mutually generate, someone recommends and promotes," meaning the three transmissions are interrelated in a cycle of generation, indicating that someone will recommend and promote. "Branches with grave and wealth together, journey is delayed," meaning the day branch's grave god and wealth divination are in the same position, and travelers or merchants will be delayed. "Spouses have private affairs," meaning the couple each has private feelings. "White tiger rides the hidden ghost, calamity is severe," meaning the white tiger is combined with the hidden ghost of the heavenly stem, causing serious misfortune. "Harmony but commits evil, like honey mixed with arsenic," meaning it seems harmonious but actually involves danger, like honey mixed with arsenic. The "Ke Jing" says: Jia wood overcomes the day branch's Chen earth, and the day branch overcomes the day stem's Wu fire. If the man's year of birth falls on the day branch and the woman's year of birth falls on the day stem, it is called "true separation hexagram," indicating the couple will be separated. Also, the Tiangang (Chen) is the hidden spirit of the day branch, and it initiates the transmission, which is called "dead odd." Tiangang is Chen, which is a disaster, evil spirit, and malevolent deity. If it is combined with other evil spirits and overcomes the day stem, it becomes "three death lessons." If Tiangang is on the day stem, there will be worries within a ten-day period; if on the day branch, within a month; if on the year stem, within a year.
On the Jiazi day, the tenth configuration: the dry branch is on the巳 position.
This lesson pattern is "Chong Shen" (Re-examination), combined with "Yuan Tai" (Original Fetus) and "Ke Cha" (Overly Scrutinizing). "Ke Cha" refers to examining matters with excessive detail and severity, which may lead to resentment and misfortune. The lesson meaning states: this pattern is only suitable for dispersing worries, and other matters will not succeed; both day and night dignitaries are trapped in prison, showing a state of anger and unwillingness to assist; the heavenly stem and earthly branch each harm one another, the household is unstable, and it is difficult to stay at home.
The day stem and day branch have both been completely drained of their energy by their respective superior deities, so they are only suitable for resolving worries and doubts. They lack the vitality needed for predicting other matters. The two noblemen of day and night have both fallen into the prison position, and when they go to seek them out, they happen to meet them in a bad mood. The day stem and day branch also form mutual punishments. The relationship between zi and mao in human affairs relates to the family, and since the family is not favorable, the household naturally becomes unstable. Although the middle and final transmissions are in the position of growth, the virtue deity and the fortune deity are both empty, leaving only shen metal, which is exactly the official ghost of jia wood day stem. This is what the "Bi Fa Fu" says: "When the three transmissions cannot proceed, look back at the first transmission and the time of the divination."
The first transmission counteracts the final transmission, and the virtue god and the fortune god also fall into the kongwang position, so all plans have a beginning but no end, and cannot be fulfilled as desired. Since both the middle and final transmissions are empty, only the first transmission is used to determine the category of the matter being divined.
Divination for weather: During the day, it indicates rain; at night, it suggests clear skies. Divination for the household: Both the day stem and day branch lose their strength, indicating a fear of theft and insecurity for both people and the house. Divination for official rank: Although one may gain a hollow title, it will not last long, or one may hold an official position without salary. Divination for seeking wealth: There is no hope of success. Divination for legal matters: The testimony is contradictory, and the authorities will not resolve the case. Divination for pregnancy: It is a female child, and the birth will be smooth. Divination for a traveler: The post-horse is absent, and the person has not yet arrived. Divination for travel: It is advisable to take a water route; taking a land route may lead to illness. Divination for marriage: The marriage is likely to succeed. If divined at night, the bride can drink alcohol. Divination for illness: The ruler of fortune is absent, and one may have difficulty eating; if divined in spring or summer, the doctor can provide effective treatment. Divination for military campaigns: Although there is a sign of victory, there will certainly be loss of money and casualties.
The "Bifa Fu" has three lines that apply to this situation: "The person and the dwelling both suffer from loss," meaning the energy of both the person and the dwelling is drained, and both ends are subject to theft; "Loss on top of loss warns of deceit," meaning loss energy is repeated, so one must beware of false words and deception; "If the three transmissions cannot proceed, refer to the first transmission and the time of divination for judgment." The "Ke Jing" says that if auspicious spirits are restrained, their joy is only a hollow sound. The "Liu Ren Zhi Nan" records a case: in the year of the Ox, fifth lunar month, with the Month General of the Monkey added to the Snake, the Month General, Azure Dragon, and official star are in conflict within, indicating that this person will certainly cause trouble due to the influence of those in power; the Day Stem is riding aInauspicious Spirit (malevolent spirit) and the Day Branch shows a wandering soul, meaning both the person and the dwelling will face disasters and disputes at present. It also meets the movement of the Ding spirit and the meeting of Yangren, with the Nobleman standing on the earth net, inevitably leading to legal troubles and arrest; fortunately, Gou Chen and Tai Yin support the Day Stem, allowing the matter to be cleared. The virtue spirit and the禄马 (favorable horse) gather at the亥 position, the heavenly gate, which originally indicates a prominent position, but unfortunately it is in the旬空 (decade void), making it difficult to last long.
On the Jiazi day, the eleventh configuration: the dry branch is on Chen.
This divination has a "Lesson Pattern" of "Re-examination," combined with "Incompleteness," "Cutting the Gate," "Ascending to the Third Heaven," and "Cunning Boy." "Incompleteness" means that among the four lessons only three are present, indicating a lack of completeness in the qi and numbers; "Ascending to the Third Heaven" refers to the movement from Chen, Wu, and Shen, ascending step by step but failing to reach a high position. The "Lesson Meaning" states: the first transmission is Chen, representing wealth, which is surrounded and restrained by both before and after, thus being overcome; the middle transmission is Wu fire, which escapes the dryness of the heavenly stem; the final transmission is Shen metal, riding on the tiger and becoming a ghost, leading to a series of dangers as the process unfolds.
The first transmission is the earth of Chen, which is the wealth爻 for the Jia wood day stem. It is simultaneously being overcome by the Jia wood itself and by the卯 wood, which is theLiu He, coming to overcome it. This is exactly what the "Bi Fa Fu" says: "The first transmission is attacked from both sides, and one cannot act freely." The middle transmission is the fire of Wu, which is the son of the Jia wood. It is capable of controlling the official ghost, but the metal of Shen is pressing upon the fire of Wu, making the son and the official ghost join forces, so it cannot be relied upon for help. Fortunately, the Jia wood day stem can turn to the Zi water in the day branch for support and thus survive. Since Chen is both the wealth爻 of the Jia wood day stem and theStorage of the Zi water in the day branch, the "Bi Fa Fu" says, "The branch's grave and wealth are both involved in the journey." A business person who divines this situation will certainly suffer losses and be blocked halfway.
This hexagram is used for seeking official positions; the more prestigious the position sought, the more auspicious it is, especially for matters concerning advancement to higher levels of the court. However, if a petty person obtains this hexagram, it may be inauspicious. This is because the "Zhi Yi" divination requires first determining the main focus, and then using it accordingly.
Divination on weather indicates thick clouds and rain. Divination on the household suggests that breaking ground and starting construction are all appropriate. The female head of the household is in charge, and there is a son-in-law who has married into the family. Divination on career prospects indicates promotion beyond normal ranks and standards. Divination on seeking wealth shows hope. Divination on marriage suggests that it should be settled as soon as possible, as it will lead to a good son in the future. Divination on illness indicates that anger has harmed the liver, and the doctor can help. The patient should live in the southeast direction. Divination on travel suggests that traveling by land will have obstacles, but traveling by water is very auspicious. Divination on a missing person indicates that they have lost money and have not returned yet. Divination on military action suggests a complete victory and the capture of gold, silver, jewels, silk, and brocade. Divination on pregnancy indicates a boy's birth, with both mother and child safe, and the delivery is imminent.
The "Bifa Fu" has six lines that apply to this situation: "The authority is not properly held, the official's fortune is on the day branch." The official's fortune is on the day branch rather than the day stem, indicating a temporary and provisional position, with an improper status. "The white tiger with the official ghost is a swift calamity." The white tiger accompanies the official ghost and presses upon the day stem, leading to a rapid misfortune. "The first transmission is surrounded and restrained, and one cannot act freely." The first transmission is attacked from both sides and restrained, so one cannot take the initiative. "When the heavenly empress and the six harmonies meet, marriage does not require a matchmaker." When the heavenly empress and the six harmonies are united, marriage does not need a matchmaker. "To escape danger and flee, one must abandon the old path." To escape from danger, one must abandon the old path. "The tiangang blocks the ghost gate, allowing for bold planning." The tiangang (Chen) blocks the ghost gate, allowing for bold planning. The "Zhonghuang Jing" says: when the characters for Chen, Wu, and Shen form the lesson, this is like a three-level ladder that cannot be climbed. When predicting illness, it indicates death; when predicting legal matters, it indicates being punished. Legal cases must be taken all the way to the provincial and ministerial level to get a resolution. The "Kuanang Fu" says: when the day stem is on the position of Chen, it indicates that two families will live together in one house.
On the Jiazi day, the twelfth arrangement: the dry branch is on the卯 (Mao) position.
This lesson pattern is "Chong Shen" combined with "Jin Ru." "Jin Ru" refers to the three transmissions whose earthly branches progress sequentially forward, like pulling up grass by the roots. The four lines of "Ke Yi" state: Only resolving worries and doubts is most suitable for this pattern; if one seeks advancement, they cannot even take a single step forward.
The first transmission is a wealth hexagram that is sandwiched between two others and is being overcome, and it is also located on the sixth harmful position. The middle and final transmissions are both draining the vital energy of the day stem. When a diviner encounters such a situation, it is only suitable for resolving doubts and anxieties. Although the day stem and day branch are both riding on the current strong energy, they appear strong but once they move, they become a trap, inevitably triggering misfortune, so the situation is difficult to move forward. The yang spirit of the day stem overcomes the yang spirit of the day branch, while the yin spirit of the day branch overcomes the yin spirit of the day stem, which is called "chaolan class." Regardless of internal or external matters, there is a sense of dissatisfaction in the mind. The final transmission supports the first transmission, indicating initial difficulty followed by ease. The卯 wood hexagram is riding on the Vermilion Bird and is located on the寅, indicating disputes and official documents. Advancing leads to misfortune, retreating leads to good fortune. The卯 is hidden as丁 in the Jiazi cycle, which is the "Ding spirit." If the divination is made in the eleventh month, the寅 is the Heavenly Horse, and the Ding spirit is located on the Heavenly Horse, indicating unusual changes. If the diviner's birth hexagram is in the丑, it is called "the birth hexagram loving the dwelling," which indicates a lack of movement, and this method is extremely accurate; because the丑 is placed on the子, it represents the act of staying and guarding the dwelling.
The Three Transmissions are like a cluster of reeds growing continuously forward, with the Day Stem's vital energy being excessively drained. If this divination is done in spring or summer during the day, there may be an appearance of descendants achieving prominence. However, those who receive this reading should be cautious of official documents arriving or disputes arising from words, and they should also be careful of fire and candles.
Divination about the weather shows prolonged clear skies without rain. Divination about the family residence indicates that the house carries noble energy, or that it was previously inhabited by a former official or elder; it also suggests that a son has overly invested in a friend, leading to financial loss. Divination about official rank shows aInauspicious Sha (malevolent star) that is strong and stripping away the official star, which is unfavorable for pursuing official positions. Divination about seeking wealth shows that all three transmissions are related to the grandson's爻 (line), with the grandson generating wealth; thus, one does not need to actively seek wealth, as it will come naturally. Divination about illness shows that the person cannot eat, but medication will quickly take effect. Divination about pregnancy shows that the child is a girl and the pregnancy is safe. Divination about a traveler shows that the person is blocked by weather conditions or by matters related to business negotiations. Divination about travel warns of troubles involving verbal disputes. Divination about marriage shows that the woman comes from a wealthy family, and the matchmaker is willing to exert effort; in the future, the couple will be able to manage the household and have a good son. Divination about legal disputes shows that the person will be able to avoid imprisonment. Divination about capturing thieves shows that the thieves are located in the direction of due west, and they are servants or soldiers. Divination about military campaigns warns of the risk of enemy raiding the camp.
The "Bifa Fu" has two lines that apply to this situation: "What is planned is mostly clumsy and falls into a trap," meaning that one's plans are mostly awkward and fall into difficulties; "At the beginning, it is squeezed and restrained, and one cannot act freely," meaning that the first transmission is constrained by both before and after, and one cannot take control. The "Ke Jing" says: when the yin and yang spirits are in front and behind and support each other, single and even numbers each have their own master; when it is凶, it is one layer after another; when it is吉, it is one layer upon another; when it is dry, there is more clear weather; when it is rainy, there is prolonged rain—both good and bad fortune are intensified according to the original trend.
On the Yichou day, first arrangement: the stem is on the Chen branch.
This lesson's "Lesson Pattern" is "Hidden Chant," combined with "Jia Se" and "Zhan Guan." "Jia Se" refers to the four lessons and three transmissions being entirely composed of the earth elements Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei. The "Lesson Meaning" states that the single Yi wood dry branch needs to overcome nine layers of earth, but excessive wealth can actually oppress the person. The earth also generates Tai Yin and White Tiger metal, which turns around to overcome me. Therefore, this indicates harm to the digestive system and spleen and stomach, and pursuing wealth brings misfortune and obstacles.
The day stem is only Yi Wood, but the course and transmission show nine layers of earth. The self is extremely weak while wealth is extremely strong. Greed for wealth will surely bring misfortune. This is exactly such a situation. Greed leads to harm, and since these earths generate Tai Yin and White Tiger, which rule metal, the metal comes back to harm Yi Wood. How can misfortune such as illness and lawsuits be avoided? "Fuyin" refers to the twelve spirits returning to their original places, with the Heaven Plate and Earth Plate merging into one, hiding potential that is not yet expressed. "Jiase" means farming and harvesting, which inherently contains hardship. When this situation is divined, it is like a big fish trapped in a mountain stream, with everything being forced and unable to take control. Change can only occur when the Thunder God, representing movement, appears. "Zhanguan" lessons do not allow for stability, only favoring concealment and avoiding danger. Matters in secret are not smooth, often requiring changes, even leading to halting midway.
This hexagram indicates that there is an excess of wealth but the self is weak, unable to bear such wealth, and there is a risk of trouble caused by wealth. If there are beneficial or supportive heavenly stems in the native's chart or in the current year, or if it is during the spring or early summer when wood energy is strong, then there will be no worries. All matters are urgent at the beginning but slow in the end, leading to hard work with little result. Even if something is accomplished, it will not last long. Only matters involving worry, doubt, or hardship can be resolved.
Divination on weather indicates a severe drought with no rain. Divination on the household shows that there is a domineering wife in the family who controls the household and causes disputes. Divination on seeking wealth indicates that there are too many wealth signs, leading to loss. Divination on marriage is unfavorable, as the woman's character is also fierce and harsh. Divination on illness shows fullness in the stomach and abdomen, swelling of the body, and yellowing and swelling of the skin, with no improvement from medication. Divination on pregnancy indicates a female fetus that is difficult to raise. Divination on travel shows that although one cannot rest at home, there are obstacles when moving. Divination on a missing person shows that the person is afflicted by Yangren, fearing injury and being detained by others. Divination on military action indicates that using a daytime general is favorable, while using a nighttime general is unfavorable. Divination on a grave warns of possible damage.
The Three Verses from the "Bi Fa Fu" apply to this situation: "The beginning and end meet, which is favorable throughout." Both the start and the end of the ten-day cycle appear in the transmission of the lesson, indicating that matters have a clear beginning and end. "Full wealth and a weak body cannot bear the burden," meaning that although there is an abundance of wealth, the day stem is weak and unable to shoulder the responsibility. "The initiating transmission breaks the body and mind, leaving nowhere to return," meaning that the initiating god clashes with the position of the day stem, causing the body and mind to have no place to rest. The "Ke Jing" states: On a Yi day, if the initiating transmission meets the Tiangang (Chen) earth, the position where Chen is located on the earth plate is the same. In such a lesson pattern, there must be disputes, and one should be prepared in advance, or there may be embarrassment in matters of loss or disappearance.
On the Yichou day, second arrangement, the stem is on the卯 branch.
This lesson's "Lesson Pattern" is "Re-examination," combined with "Retreating Vegetables," "Dragon Virtue," and "Encouraging Virtue." "Retreating Vegetables" refers to the three transmissions' branches retreating step by step. The "Lesson Meaning" states that the rat and the rabbit are in mutual punishment, which is the "Punishment of Impropriety," indicating both sides lose propriety. The ethereal yang (Yi) has its fortune in the rabbit, but it is hidden by the ethereal yin (Ding), which is then punished by the rat, making it unreliable. Therefore, all divinations are ominous, except for marriage, which is favorable due to the compatibility between the rat and the ox.
The trigram Zi (rat) and Mao (rabbit) mutually harm each other, an ancient term for "Punishment of Impropriety." Now, Mao is the禄神 (favorable deity) for the day stem Yi and has also hidden the heavenly stem Ding, yet it is harmed by the water of Zi. How can it be reliable? Both the Middle Transmission and Final Transmission fall into Kongwang, which can only be used to relieve worries and difficulties. For ordinary divination, how can it be beneficial? The water of Zi, riding on Tai Chang, combines with the earth of Chou, an ancient method called "Cow and Vega Meet," so divination for marriage is favorable. Divining at night, the curtain official nobleman is present over the day stem and day branch. For divination regarding examinations, the curtain official is most disliked when it falls into Kongwang, enters the tomb, or is harmed. Among these, falling into Kongwang is the worst, meaning the chief examiner does not even look at the candidate's paper. Moreover, if the Vermilion Bird's riding deity harms the curtain official nobleman, the composition will not meet the chief examiner's expectations. The卯 (rabbit) harms the day stem and the子 (rat) combines with the day branch, indicating the person is suffering while others enjoy ease.
The fortunate god of the hexagram is present at the self, so it is only suitable to maintain the existing situation. Originally, there is already a share of wealth and fortune, but once it is recklessly stirred up, it will turn into a snare, leading to unpredictable misfortunes. One should use calmness to subdue it and integrity to guard it, remaining within one's own home, which is the best course of action.

Divination on pregnancy shows a female fetus, and spotting is not a problem. Divination on illness indicates cramping and stiffness in hands and feet, and a long illness will cause trouble. Divination on lost items suggests they can be found in the northern part of the house. Divination on travel indicates safety on land but caution against thieves on water.
The "Bifa Fu" says, "When the禄神 is strong but falls on the person, it is in vain." Even though the禄神 is strong, reckless action is just a waste of effort. The "Liu Ren Zhi Nan" records a case where the general was set with the戌 general added to the亥. The lesson was started because of the sound of crows. The two thieves' spirits, You Du and Ze Fu, were on the day stem and day branch. On the right side, the post-horse and the Black Tortoise were present, while on the left side, the Jiesha and Ze Fu were seen. It was predicted that there would be eight or nine thieves coming from the northeast to rob the neighbor's clothes and then cross the river to escape. Because the子 water was the initiating transmission, the子 is in the north and close to the northeast, so the source was from the northeast. The子 was placed on the丑, and the丑 and子 together formed the number eight and nine, so it was concluded that there were eight or nine people. The Gou Chen was opposite and remotely attacked the Black Tortoise, so the thieves would definitely be captured in five days.
On the Yichou day, third section: stem on寅
This divination lesson has a "Lesson Pattern" of "Re-examination," combined with "Intermediary Transmission" and "Hourly Concealment." "Intermediary Transmission" refers to the three transmissions proceeding by skipping one position. The four lines of "Lesson Meaning" explain that the final transmission's buried god is riding on the White Tiger, and it has concealed the metal of Xin, becoming a ghost, so a person returning from outside comes back with illness. The three transmissions proceed from the final to the middle to the initial, successively generating each other, with the energy flowing back layer by layer to the self, hence called the "Return of the Soul Pattern."
Whenever the three transmissions fall into the storage, those who go out will surely return. Now the spirit of the tomb is occupied by the White Tiger, so they return in a sickly condition. The initiating transmission's亥 water falls into the void, relying on the final transmission's未 earth to generate酉 metal, and the middle transmission's酉 metal to generate亥 water, with each generation supporting the next, hence called 'returning soul'. However, since亥 has fallen into the void, it lacks strength, even though there is a generation, it is as if there is none. The final transmission is the wealth hexagram, but it hides out as辛 metal and becomes the official ghost, again occupied by the White Tiger, how can those seeking wealth avoid misfortune? When planning matters, there is a beginning but no end, looking like a good thing but not becoming one. When divining at night, there is also the possibility of loss or escape. The final transmission's未 is placed on酉 and occupied by the White Tiger, indicating the lost item is tea. This divination spans three weeks of the void.
The hexagram indicates that the Five Phases are all hidden in obscure places, and the energies of the four seasons have fallen into declining areas. Everywhere is blocked and obstructed, and everywhere is dark and unclear. The person divining is lonely and without support, will leave his homeland, and will waste resources without benefit. There is an appearance of establishing a new household. This situation is suitable only for monks and Taoist priests, and unsuitable for others.
Divination on weather: clouds are thick but no rain falls, and whether it will be cloudy or clear is still uncertain. Divination on the household: the population is flourishing but the household's energy is declining, and the elders in the family may face obstacles. Divination on illness: it is a deficiency of kidney energy, new illness can be resolved by rituals and remedies, but chronic illness is dangerous. Divination on exams: the writings are unclear and confused. Divination on seeking wealth: rushing to gain profit may lead to misfortune. Divination on official career: the post-horse is absent and the official's fortune is in a dead end, which is unfavorable for being sent on an official mission. Divination on pregnancy: there is illness during pregnancy, and it is a servant woman who is pregnant. Divination on travel: traveling by land is safe, but traveling by water requires caution against theft. Divination on a traveler: the post-horse is absent, and the person has not yet arrived. Divination on military action: it is advisable to stay still and not move, to avoid falling into the enemy's deception.
The Four Sentences from the "Bi Fa Fu" apply to this situation: "Three Transmissions Successively Generate, Someone Recommends and Supports," meaning the three transmissions are interrelated in a cycle of mutual generation, indicating that someone will recommend and support; "There is a Beginning but No End, the Life Qi Falls on the Storage," meaning the life qi is located on the storage position, suggesting that the matter has a beginning but no conclusion; "The Day Stem Occupies the Storage and the White Tiger, There is a Hidden Corpse," meaning the day stem is connected to the storage and the white tiger, indicating that there is an unburied corpse in the house; "The Nobleman Sits in Prison, It is Difficult to Achieve Status," meaning the nobleman is in a prison-like position, suggesting that seeking help from the nobleman will not be successful. The attached "Shi Dun Shi" says: the time is unfavorable, one can only endure and suppress; the three transmissions are亥, 酉, 未, especially informing you; the gentleman waits for the right opportunity to achieve good fortune, while the petty person should beware of illness and danger.
On the Yichou day, fourth division, the stem is on the丑 branch.
This lesson's "Lesson Pattern" is "Jia Se" (Harvesting and Cultivation), combined with "Zhu Xi" (Attached Son-in-law), "Li De" (Cultivating Virtue), "You Zi" (Wandering Child), "San Qiu" (Three Hills), and "Wu Mu" (Five Tombs); "San Qiu" and "Wu Mu" both indicate the spirits of graves gathering within the lesson. The "Lesson Meaning" states: the three transmissions do not go beyond the four lessons, and they cycle repeatedly; the final transmission has the spirit of the grave hiding day and night, with辛 (Xin) acting as a ghost, creating a situation of danger and uncertainty; fortunately, the day stem is directly above the grave, indicating mutual concern, and thus can still protect itself.
The three transmissions do not exceed the four lessons, which is called "circular pattern." This indicates that matters are entangled and complicated, and cannot be resolved smoothly. The lessons and transmissions are purely about wealth lines, and the excessive strength of wealth is unfavorable, which is exactly what the "Bi Fa Fu" says: when the transmission of wealth is too strong, it leads to loss of wealth. The final transmission's buried god is乘 by the White Tiger, and it also reveals the metal Yin as a ghost, reaching the extreme of uncertainty and danger. The earthy branch "Wei" is the burial place of the wood Yin, but the day stem goes willingly to the position of "Wei," willingly being buried. Fortunately, the wood Yin can overcome the earth "Wei," which is called self-protection. The day branch is the wealth of the day stem, actively approaching and benefiting the day stem, so the person asking the question should be most suitable to remain calm and enjoy the existing benefits. If greedy and take more, it will certainly bring disaster; one should be content with one's own position and destiny, which is the great good fortune.
In this case, the official ghost and the storage are both pressing upon the day stem. The term "mù" refers to the place where the five phases are hidden and buried, a location of decline and weakness in the four seasons, blocked and dark. Whenever a diviner encounters the ghost and the storage together, it indicates that someone is secretly plotting and disturbing behind the scenes. If the divination concerns illness or legal matters, it is especially dangerous. It is necessary for the three transmissions or the person's own year to have a conflicting god that can dispel this, in order to avoid disaster.
Divination on weather indicates prolonged clear skies and difficulty in getting rain. Divination on the household suggests that although there are fields and gardens, they may bring trouble instead, and the family elders may have regrets. Divination on official rank shows that wealth can generate official stars, which is a good thing, but there is a fear of encountering the death of parents and thus having to resign from office due to mourning. Divination on illness suggests problems with the spleen and kidney, and it is best to reduce food intake, control desires, and rest quietly. Divination on childbirth indicates the birth of a son, but there is a need to be cautious of illness. Divination on seeking wealth shows something empty and not substantial. Divination on travel indicates that ghosts and graves are near, making going out unpropitious. Divination on losing something suggests that the lost item is in the earth. Divination on capturing a thief indicates that the thief is hiding in the northwest house of Gu Xian at night. Divination on military action suggests suffering losses secretly, and the intelligence gathered should not be trusted lightly.
The Three Laws of the Book of Final Judgment apply here: "The person and the dwelling are both in the墓 position, thus inviting darkness and obscurity," meaning both the person and the dwelling are in a weak position, leading to a gloomy situation; "Full wealth but a weak body cannot bear the burden," indicating that although there is much wealth, the day stem is weak and cannot support it; "The host and guest do not harmonize, and there is conflict above," meaning there is conflict between the day stem and day branch, making it difficult for the host and guest to get along. The Secret Manual of Illumination says that the hidden god of the day branch is in conflict with the day branch, and since the Tiangang is in the beginning position, it will certainly bring sudden calamities from younger family members. In a night divination, the earth dog (戌) is occupied by the Vermilion Bird and placed on the day branch, indicating that there are many measuring vessels for rice in the household.
