Charting guides: Da Liu Ren Chart Calculator, Jin Kou Jue Chart

The three categories of lesson patterns are: Eight Specials, Beyond Moral Cultivation, and "Veil and Curtain," which refers to the previous mention of "improper conduct within the household," indicating disorder within the family and lack of distinction between men and women. The lesson meaning states: When casting a divination in the daytime, all four lessons are on the hour of Wu and are all occupied by the White Tiger. They can repel misfortune but also bring about their own calamities; although they may help in seeking official positions, in the end, they will not bring satisfaction. The commentary explains: In the four lessons and three transmissions, four instances of Wu appear consecutively. When casting a divination in the daytime, these Wu hours are all occupied by the White Tiger, arranged in a line, creating a formidable presence. The White Tiger belongs to metal and can overcome the initial transmission's metal ghost, thus protecting the day stem from this misfortune. However, the fire of Wu is generated by the wood of Jia, continuously leaking the energy of the day stem. The metal energy of the White Tiger can still harm the wood of Jia, inevitably causing further calamities. Although someone seeking official positions may succeed, since both the day stem and branch are leaking energy, and the White Tiger is assisting the spirits, it is ultimately difficult to achieve satisfaction.

The interpretation says: The lesson of eight special aspects involves four lessons being treated as two, with neither upper nor lower parts being restrained, indicating an image of improper union between male and female. Although there are four Wus, all riding on the White Tiger, the White Tiger is able to control the spirits, and the fire of Wu can generate the wealth of Xu earth. For an ordinary person, this is actually a good omen. When casting the lesson at night, the Teng Snake, which belongs to fire, is able to restrain the metal of Shen, and the official ghost of the day stem is suppressed; the Heavenly Empress is also located on a weakened spirit, indicating that one will lose money due to matters concerning wife and children.

Questioning the weather: The Azure Dragon is restrained, so it will not rain; four instances of Wu are riding the White Tiger, which indicates a hot wind will blow. Questioning the household: The lesson was cast in the daytime, both the male and female heads of the household will have ailments. Questioning fame and status: The official star is suppressed, beware of being dismissed or demoted. Questioning wealth: First, there will be financial loss due to the grandchildren, but later wealth can be regained. Questioning marriage: When the lesson is cast in the daytime, the bride's appearance is unattractive; when cast at night, the bride's appearance is beautiful. Questioning childbirth: Yang energy has reached its peak, and when extremes are reached, there will be a reversal, so a female child is expected; the fetal spirit is attached to growth, so the delivery will be delayed. Questioning illness: The lungs are diseased, and there is also worry in the heart, although it appears凶, it is actually harmless. Questioning lost items: The lost item is a metal vessel, look for it in the southeast direction. Questioning travel: Although one sets out, the journey will be only nearby. Questioning a traveler: The traveler will arrive soon. Questioning pursuit and capture: In the southwest direction of the Earth, the person is hidden by monks or Taoist priests. Questioning warfare: When the lesson is cast at night, the commander will not be victorious.

The "Bifa Fu" cites the line "People and their homes are all in death and decline," indicating that both the person's position and the home's position are under the influence of death qi, with the person and their household each in a state of decline. The "Ke Jing" states that when酉 is placed over巳, the fetal spirit is seated at the place of growth, which is most suitable for questioning about pregnancy, but not for questioning about childbirth; when丑 is placed over酉, it is called abdominal fetus, and those who ask the question are certainly inquiring about their wife's pregnancy. If丑 is exactly in the empty旬, then questioning about childbirth indicates a quick delivery, but questioning about fetal condition indicates certain harm. It also says that if both the day stem and day branch are fully under the influence of death qi, then all matters are only suitable for rest and inaction, and are unfavorable for initiating new plans. The "Shen Jiang Lun" states that when午 (known as Shengguang in the Six Rens system) is occupied by the White Tiger, it indicates that there is someone wielding weapons fighting in the streets and alleys; the White Tiger residing at午 represents the image of being burned, yet it can transform misfortune into good fortune.

Jiayin Day, Tenth Bureau: Dry Branch Over Si

The two categories of lesson patterns, Chong Shen and Yuan Tai, have already been mentioned before. The lesson meaning states: within the ten-day period, the Ding spirit and the Post-horse are intermingled and appear simultaneously, without a moment of rest; one must be cautious of theft and escape; if asking about illness, it is likely to lead towards the underworld. The commentary explains: Si is the Ding spirit that has hidden in this ten-day period, which is exactly on top of the day stem and day branch; Shen is the Post-horse, which initiates as the first transmission and occupies the positions of the two hidden spirits. The Ding spirit and the Post-horse are spread throughout the four lessons, their movement is very strong, there is no room for a moment of stillness. The day stem and day branch have their vital energy drained by the fire of Si. One must be cautious of theft and escape. Shen is the official ghost of the day stem, and it also initiates as the first transmission, making it particularly dangerous for matters of illness.

The judgment says: This divination shows a situation with two possible paths. This chart is also called Yuan Tai, indicating that plans should start anew. The three transmissions follow each other in a sequence of mutual generation, leading to the god of official rank, which is most auspicious for seeking official positions. It suggests that someone with genuine understanding will come forward to recommend and support, indicating a sudden and vigorous development. The initial branch of this ten-day period is located at the end of the period, meaning that the matter may seem to be broken but then reconnects, and may appear still but then moves again. However, in this chart, movement is ultimately less favorable than stillness.

Questioning the weather: The Azure Dragon rides upon the water deity and initiates the first transmission; on the day of Si, it should rain (the original text here mistakenly writes 'mouth' instead of 'day'). Questioning the household: The day stem and day branch are afflicted by mutual six harms; at night, the wife will quarrel at home. Questioning fame and status: The final transmission has the virtue deity and the禄 deity resting upon the position of growth, leading to fame and status being attained. Questioning wealth: Do not seek wealth carelessly. Questioning marriage: The woman is good, but be cautious of the combination involving destruction. Questioning childbirth: A servant woman is pregnant with a female child, and the delivery will be smooth and easy. Questioning illness: The illness belongs to the spleen, mostly contracted in the kitchen near the stove, affecting the head, face, eyes, and ears; be cautious of a prolonged illness. Questioning lost items: Two kitchen servants took them. Questioning travel: It is auspicious, and one may meet the禄 and food along the way. Questioning a traveler: The person will arrive that day. Questioning apprehension: In the southwest near a dry well or in the village of a local gentry family. Questioning warfare: It is best to seek peace.

The "Bifa Fu" cites the phrase "The person's position and the dwelling position both lose energy, which invites thieves," meaning that both the person's position and the dwelling position are losing their energy, making the home and outside vulnerable to theft. The "Ke Jing" states that if the day's virtue is placed on the亥 position and enters the three transmissions, this is called virtue entering the heavenly gate, and a scholar who divines this will certainly pass the examination. The "Liu Ren Jing Yun" records an old case: in the second year of Mingdao during the reign of Emperor Renzong of Song, with the month general as 未 and the day asGuiyou, the question was about rain. The divination said that the initiating transmission is on the upper part of the Azure Dragon, and at a certain time that day there will be wind and thunder, but the rain will be light; the middle transmission is the Vermilion Bird riding on亥 and placed on申, with fire and water conflicting, so on the day ofGengshen at noon there will be wind and thunder again, but there is also earth deity on巳 fire, so the rain will still be insufficient; the final transmission is寅 (Gongcao) placed on亥, encountering the Heavenly Empress, a water deity, so on the day ofJiazi there will be clouds coming from the northwest, resulting in heavy rain, which will last for one period of伏 before stopping. The actual weather later matched the prediction exactly.

Jiayin day, Eleventh Bureau: Dry Branch on Chen

The four categories of the lesson pattern are: Re-examination, Intermediate Transmission, Cutting the Gate, and "Ascending the Three Heavens." "Ascending the Three Heavens" refers to the nobleman ascending to the position of the亥 day gate, indicating a clear and noble structure. The lesson meaning says: The image of the lesson started in the daytime is ominous, with the post-horse carrying the official ghost and riding the white tiger; fortunately, the nobleman has ascended to the heavenly gate, and the tiangang (Chen) has blocked the ghost gate. The commentary explains: The first transmission is Chen, which is the wealth of Jia wood, and it is combined with theLiu He, which together with the day stem attack and control each other, so this wealth cannot be controlled by oneself. The middle transmission is Wu, which drains the energy of the day stem, and the official ghost is in the final transmission. Since the lesson was started in the daytime, the final transmission also rides the white tiger to injure the day stem, which is very frightening. The tiangang (Chen) is placed on the day stem and initiates the first transmission, forming a structure that matches cutting the gate. However, the nobleman is ascending to the亥 day gate in the daytime, and the Chen tiangang has blocked the ghost gate. All sixInauspicious Spirit are hidden, and the four paths ofInauspicious Sha are buried. The heavenly general also meets the azure dragon and theLiu He, so the matter is actually very favorable.

The interpretation states: This divination indicates a situation where a person in an official position will benefit greatly, as it signifies ascending to the heavenly gate. Even a common person who encounters this reading may gain some advantages. However, the three transmissions progress in a staggered manner, preventing a swift rise to prominence. Moreover, the initiating transmission is associated with the辰 (Chen) star, which means one cannot immediately retreat to seclusion. Following the established path and maintaining one's proper role will eventually bring about continuous improvement and remarkable changes.

What about the weather? It is suddenly cloudy and then clear, and it will not decide. What about the household? As long as it does not move often, it will surely become wealthy and the people will be safe. What about official rank? The final transmission is the post-horse, and the official star is riding the white tiger, so there will be an appointment to a post outside the capital soon, and the assignment will be very quick. What about seeking wealth? The wealth energy is very strong, but one cannot make the decision oneself. What about marriage? The matter will certainly succeed, but one should also be careful of injuries. What about childbirth? The whole chart is pure yang, which is a good sign for the birth of a son, and although the delivery will be late, it will be auspicious. What about illness? The liver is injured, and it will be difficult to recover soon. What about lost items? They were taken by a child. What about travel? One goes out but cannot return home. What about a traveler? The final transmission's post-horse combines with the day stem and day branch to form Liu He, and on the day of Zi, the traveler will certainly arrive. What about capturing a thief? The thief is in the north, by the water, and cannot be caught during the day. What about military action? If it is divined at night, it will be victorious, but if it is divined during the day, it will be a defeat.

The "Bifa Fu" cites two lines: "White Tiger rides the hidden ghost, calamity is not light," meaning when the White Tiger is combined with the hidden ghost of the ten-day cycle, misfortune is severe; "Tiangang blocks the ghost gate, all endeavors can be carried out," meaning when Tiangang blocks the ghost gate, any plan can be pursued freely. The "Ke Jing" explains that "six spirits hidden" refers to the Teng Snake falling into water, the Vermilion Bird entering the river, the Gou Chen entering prison, the Tian Kong being stripped away, the White Tiger burned, and the Black Tortoise with a broken foot, each of the sixInauspicious General losing power and hiding; "four evils disappear" refers to the four墓 (earthly branches of Chen, Xu, Chou, Wei) being located at the four corners of Qian, Kun, Gen, and Xun, thus being trapped in the four directions. The "Ding'e" says that the Azure Dragon is capable of traveling far and achieving distant goals, while Liu He is good at hiding in private. If the White Tiger is on Shen, it forms a cutting-off gate, allowing decisive action; this hexagram is most suitable for renewing and changing, and traveling abroad. It is favorable to see the Ding spirit and the Post-horse; if one remains at home and does not move, there may be obscure and unclear matters.

Jiayin day, twelfth section: dry branch on卯.

The three categories of lesson patterns are: Chong Shen, Jin Ru, and "Sheng Jie," which refers to the third, fourth, and fifth transmissions (Chen, Si, Wu) ascending step by step. The lesson meaning states: moving forward is a place of depletion, moving backward is a place of emptiness, so it is better to maintain the current situation. Seeking a small gain now may result in losing a larger amount later. The commentary explains: Chen, Si, and Wu follow one after another in an upward direction, which can be considered as a rising fire. The Jia wood wants to move forward but meets the depletion of the fire trinity in the three transmissions; if it wants to retreat, the back is empty due to Zi and Chou. Therefore, it is better to hold onto the卯 (Mao) of the day stem, as Mao is the strong position for Jia wood. Holding onto it preserves its strength. If one seeks the wealth of the first transmission, which is squeezed between above and below, it is like being led into a place of depletion and theft of energy, which is exactly what is meant by gaining a grain of rice but losing half a year's grain.

The judgment says: Advancing in the study of books is beneficial for moving forward. However, the heavenly net and Yangren are blocking the way. Therefore, one should remain calm and stay still. The final transmission, which is the午 fire, actually supports the initial transmission's辰 earth wealth, thus naturally bringing good fortune. If one makes reckless plans or becomes restless in seeking progress, misfortune will surely follow. The spirit of descendants is too strong, causing the official ghost to be harmed. Therefore, this situation is most suitable for ordinary people, but not favorable for those in official positions.

What about the weather? It will be very sunny. What about the household? Be careful of disputes between family members. What about official rank? If you accept bribes, you will soon have to fear dismissal. What about seeking wealth? All three transmissions belong to the spirits of descendants, so you don't need to seek wealth; it will come to you on its own. What about marriage? The day stem and day branch both meet the Yangren, so be careful of injuries. What about pregnancy? Two yangs are surrounding one yin, so it is a female fetus, which is easy to give birth to. What about illness? It is a type of heat illness, which can be cured. What about lost items? Look near the door and the kitchen. What about traveling? Do not go out. What about a traveler? The person is moving further and further away from home. What about a search for a fugitive? The person is hiding in a building in the northwest near water. What about military action? The enemy and ourselves are evenly matched, and it is not favorable to take action. What about burial? If the dragon comes from the direction of the letter Yi and the water flows in a smooth direction, it will bring prosperity to the family.

The Three Transmissions cite three lines: "Plans are clumsy and fall into a net," encountering the Heavenly Net evil star, leading to clumsy plans and being trapped; "Expenses exceed gains," spending more than what is received; "Mutual strength indicates favorable planning," when the Day Stem and Day Branch are both strong, sitting for planning is appropriate. The Book of Lessons states that the卯 (Mao) in the Day Stem is the strong god of the Jia Wood, and once it is introduced into the First Transmission, the辰 (Chen) and卯 (Mao) form the six harmful relationship, and by the time of the Middle and Final Transmissions, it becomes entirely a leaking and stealing atmosphere. It also says that if the卯 (Mao) appears in the Day Stem, even if the Three Transmissions contain wealth signs, one will inevitably feel regret and be reluctant to take action, fearing competition from similar elements. The Manual of the Hand states that the three Transmissions of Chen, Si, and Wu are called ascending steps, allowing one to personally visit the superior state and enjoy its scenery.

On the Yimao day, first arrangement: dry branch on Chen.

The three categories of lesson patterns are Hidden Chant and斩关, with "Du Zhuan" referring to the three transmissions being blocked in the middle, causing the matter to change midway. The lesson meaning states: mutual suspicion between both sides leads to an impolite situation similar to the mutual punishment of Zi and Mao; the nobleman of the day is of no help, and the effort is in vain; instead, the existing禄神 on the day stem is most appropriate. The explanatory commentary says: the first transmission is Chen, which is the wealth of Yi wood, and Chen and Chen self-punish each other; the middle transmission is harmed by the day branch, which is the first cause of suspicion due to wealth, then leading to the punishment of Zi on Mao, reaching the extreme of impoliteness. The nobleman of the day, Zi, is empty in its旬, though water can nourish the day stem Yi wood, its emptiness means it has no strength, so seeking it is in vain. It is better to rely on the strong禄神 at the residential position, which is the proper course of action.

The interpretation states: This is a case of hidden chant, where the upper and lower elements are mutually harmful, and the middle and final transmissions also mutually injure each other. In such circumstances, all matters tend to deviate from harmony and smoothness. If one can remain calm and steadfast, the day stem possesses solid wealth akin to land, and the day branch holds readyofficial stipend and sustenance, allowing one to enjoy success without effort. However, the cutting-off gate is not a sign of stability, and the transmission of Du suggests possible changes along the way. The key lies in identifying the right timing and then acting wisely. Although the final transmission of water falls into Kongwang, it is still the nurturing official that supports me. Once the year and month fill in this vacancy, one may still pursue advancement.

Questioning the weather: There is a heavy haze, with more sunny days than rainy ones. Questioning the household: There will be a family legacy to be passed down to descendants, which can be maintained, and it is especially auspicious to cast the divination at night. Questioning official rank: Although the official star is strong, it collides with the sixth harm, there are obstructions, and it will not end well. Questioning wealth: It is only suitable to keep the existing wealth, and not to seek more. Questioning marriage: The bride's family is prosperous, but there is fear of obstacles in the middle. Questioning childbirth: The fetal energy is damaged, and the delivery comes quickly. Questioning illness: The kidney water is insufficient, and if one can eat food, it will recover. Questioning lost items: They cannot be found outside the corridor under one's own house. Questioning travel: One cannot reach the intended place. Questioning a traveler: The middle transmission and final transmission are in conflict, and the person is blocked outside and has not returned. Questioning capture: It is done by a woman from the opposite door or the maternal uncle's family, with a child acting as an informant, and the person has not left the country. Questioning warfare: The main side is unfavorable, and one must use grain and supplies to lure the enemy.

The "Bifa Fu" cites two lines: "The authority is not proper, the official fortune falls on the day branch," meaning the official fortune is located on the day branch, the authority and official position are not correct, and it is merely acting on behalf of others. "Both sides are suspicious and harmful, following each other," meaning the superior and inferior are mutually harmful, and both sides are on guard against each other. The "Ke Jing" says that on the Yimao day, a hidden chant (fu yin) occurs with the six harms, which is not suitable for trade or transactions. It also says that even if the divination and transmission do not include the Ding god or the post-horse, if the person's year is riding on the Kuai Ganga or is located on the Si position, it is considered as Ding and post-horse meeting, and the action is particularly quick. The "Shen Jiang Lun" says that the Gou Chen is on the Chen position, indicating conflict; Gou Chen on the Chen position is like being in the hall and sitting in the hall, with jailers or similar people coming to entangle.

On the Yimao day, second section, with the stem on the卯 branch.

The three categories of lesson patterns are: Re-examination and Retreat, and beyond that, the Three Marvels refer to the three transmissions falling into the positions of the extraordinary deities within the ten-day cycle. The main ruler encounters misfortune which turns into good fortune. The lesson meaning says: It is best to sit and maintain one's strong energy, but moving forward would be dull. The feet are on the empty void, where is it suitable to move forward? The commentary explains: The卯 (Mao) is the禄神 (Lushen) of the乙 (Yi) wood, the flourishing禄 (Lushen) is right on the day stem, which is most suitable to stay still and not move. Once moving, it falls into the three transmissions, and all three transmissions fall into emptiness, how can there be any taste? Moving forward is where the丁巳 (Dingsi) deity drains energy, and moving backward brings worry of emptiness and falling into void. Although there is a saying among diviners that "standing on the empty void is actually suitable for progress," this particular case is not suitable.

The commentary says: The transmission meets an empty position, and the pattern coincides with the Three Marvels. Originally, there was a meaning of advancing and striving. However, all three transmissions are the yin-shu gods that nourish me, yet they fall precisely into an empty and陷 position. The classic says, "Seeing a beneficial force that does not benefit, is worse than having no beneficial force at all." Relying on it for assistance is in vain, so all plans instead carry ominous signs. It would be better to close the door and remain quiet, enjoying a ready-made state of confusion and contentment.

Questioning the weather: wind arises but no rain falls. Questioning the household: the dwelling is riding on a retreating qi, yet the people in the household are healthy and vigorous. Questioning fame and status: one can receive a lifetime of salary, but cannot advance even a step, and it will be beneficial only in the year of Hai. Questioning wealth: the Azure Dragon and Liu He are on the day stem, so someone will bring wealth to you, do not go seeking it yourself. Questioning marriage: the female side is auspicious, the male side is inauspicious. Questioning childbirth: fear that it is conceived through illicit relations, it is a good sign for a male child, and once the fetal qi is exhausted, the child will be born. Questioning illness: the kidney water cannot nourish the liver wood, but it can be cured. Questioning lost items: they are in wooden containers. Questioning travel: it is not advisable. Questioning a traveler: he has not yet arrived. Questioning pursuit and capture: during the day, he is on the road in the southwest direction, at night, he is on the northern side of the western mountain. Questioning warfare: if our side takes the initiative, it will be beneficial, but do not provoke the enemy first. Questioning burial: the dragon pulse is entirely empty, only the direction facing Qian is slightly auspicious.

The "Bifa Fu" cites three lines: "Respect and honor within the transmission meet the Three Marvels," meaning if the Three Marvels deities appear in the three transmissions, it is a noble and esteemed pattern; "Treading on Kongwang is suitable for advancement," meaning stepping on Kongwang is actually favorable for moving forward; "When prosperity and official rank are already present, further action is in vain," meaning when prosperity and official rank have already arrived, further action is just wasted effort. The "Ke Jing" says that if all three transmissions are empty, it is like having three pits behind, how can one move forward? If this pattern appears in a divination about illness, it is called the "Seeking Death Pattern." The "Records of the Three Kingdoms: Wei Zhì: Guan Lu Zhuan" records that Guan Lu was at a household of the Director of Agriculture, when suddenly a whirlwind came from the direction of Shen. He cast a divination and made a judgment. On that day, the day branch was Yimao, and the handle of the Big Dipper pointed to Shen. Shen overcame Yin, indicating a sign of death and mourning; the wind arose at the time when the day added Wu, indicating a sign of horses; Wei was in the position of Shen, which belongs to the tiger, and the tiger represents elders, indicating a sign of the father. Therefore, he concluded that a person on horseback would come from the east, and it was feared that the father would mourn the son. The next day, an official from Jiaodong indeed arrived, and the master's son had indeed died.

On the Yimao day, third section, with the stem above the Yin branch.

The four categories of lesson patterns are: involvement of harm, and beyond the intermediate transmission. "Extreme Yin" refers to the reverse retreat along the path of Chou, Hai, and You, with Yin energy retreating deeper and deeper. "Nine Disgraces" is a凶 pattern where Chou is placed on a middle position such as Mao, indicating evil and inauspiciousness. The lesson meaning says: the wealth god and the god of growth have both fallen into Kongwang, yet they just happen to meet the ghost of Xin metal hidden in You. Unwanted things are everywhere, but what is desired is not even a shadow. The commentary explains: Chou is the wealth for Yi wood, and Hai is the growth for Yi wood, both entering the three transmissions, which seems beneficial at first glance. However, Chou is actually in the旬 empty (the text here mistakenly writes 'five' instead of 'Chou'), and Hai is sitting on an empty ground. What remains is the final transmission of You, which is originally the day ghost. Within You, there is again the hidden Xin metal, forming another layer of ghost. This ghost alone occupies the actual position. There are two layers of ghosts, both in the open and the hidden, which is exactly what the day stem most dislikes, yet it happens to meet it directly. Wealth and growth, which are exactly what the day stem desires most, have all turned out to be nothing but illusions. How can there be any benefit in that?

The interpretation says: This is a hexagram of extreme yin, with the three transmissions reversing and passing through the positions in a separated manner, leading to matters stagnating and difficulties that are hard to resolve. Moreover, the branch Chou is placed on Mao and initiates as the first transmission, which is called "nine shame," indicating more misfortune than good fortune. Conversely, both the first and middle transmissions fall into empty and trapped positions, which could be considered as good things: although good things cannot be achieved, bad things can still be resolved. Since the divination was cast at night, this pattern is also called "tiger head and rat tail," meaning the beginning is fierce but the conclusion lacks strength.

Questioning the weather: wind arises and mist forms, the sky is dark and gloomy, followed by continuous rain. Questioning the household: the front door faces a pile of earth, which should be removed. Questioning fame and status: things are repeatedly obstructed and cannot be accomplished, but changing the approach can lead to success. Questioning wealth: wealth exists but is not realized. Questioning marriage: not auspicious. Questioning childbirth: indicates the birth of a daughter. Questioning illness: with the combination of Chou and Mao and the White Tiger, it indicates pain in the woman's abdomen; for long-term illness, it is ominous. Questioning litigation: indicates unexpected misfortune, but fortunately it can be resolved. Questioning lost items: the thief is caught, but the stolen goods have already been dispersed. Questioning travel: it is very unfavorable, and it is better to stay at home. Questioning a traveler: there are obstacles on the way, and the traveler cannot arrive. Questioning military matters: be cautious of the enemy's false display to deceive people.

The "Bifa Fu" cites the line "Tajiao Kongwang Jinyong Yi" (It is favorable to proceed with the use of Kongwang). The "Guan Jingxue" states that the god named Daji (Chou) when added to the positions of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You (the four central positions), indicates heavenly calamities, and military action should not be taken. If both the small and large transmissions appear, and ifInauspicious Spirit (evil spirits) fall into the four level positions, there will certainly be great misfortune within three years or within three months. The "Xinjing" says that this type of divination is not suitable for marriage or wedding, and especially dangerous for long journeys or military campaigns. The "Ding'uo" states that Yi represents the beginning of spring thunder, and Mao corresponds to the vernal equinox, when yang energy is at its peak and yin energy is about to cease. If the position of Chou falls into the central position, is added to the day branch, and initiates the transmission, and is accompanied by the White Tiger, it indicates the occurrence of death. The "Zhipang Fu" says that the three transmissions of Chou, Hai, and You are called Jiyin (the first character of the source text is mistakenly written as "Zheng"), similar to the moon disappearing between two mountains.

On the fourth arrangement of the day Yimao, the stem is on the earthly branch Chou.

The three categories of lesson patterns: Chong Shen, Jia Se, and Li De, have already been mentioned before. The lesson meaning states: two instances of Teng Snake spreading out like a net both fall into Kongwang; wealth is placed into the ghost's storage; external harmony is unreliable; and the hidden harm is truly dangerous. The commentary explains: the lesson was cast in the daytime, with Teng Snake sitting on Chou, located above the day stem, and acting as the first transmission. However, it is exactly in the旬空, so although the snake has set up its formation, it is all in vain. Xu is the wealth of Yi wood, now placed in Chou, which is the storage of metal. Metal is precisely the official ghost of Yi wood, so wealth falls into the ghost's tomb, where can it be used? On the day stem and day branch, Zi and Chou form Liu He, but both fall into the旬空, with no evidence at all; while between the day stem and day branch, Chen and Mao are in mutual harm, which is truly the dangerous aspect.

The interpretation states: This is a case of repeated review, forming a farming soil pattern, indicating that all matters will be difficult and slow. Most importantly, careful examination is needed. All three transmissions are wealth gods, and wealth can overcome the seal, which is unfavorable to superiors. Although wealth is everywhere, seeking it carelessly will instead show a lack. Moreover, the ghost's storage is covering over the day stem, with harm below and union above, the lower part being real and the upper part empty, indicating that someone is secretly harming. Fortunately, the hour of Ox is empty in this旬, so this danger will certainly dissipate; however, all plans will also fail. The person seeking the divination should only act according to opportunity and remain content with their own position.

What about the weather? It will be suddenly cloudy and then clear. What about the household? The house position is afflicted by a criminal star, and there is no proper conduct among the family members. What about official rank? It is suitable to pay money to obtain an official status, but it will still take some time. What about seeking wealth? As soon as you start, you will be deceived by others. What about marriage? It will not succeed; if the divination is cast on the night of the Zi month, there is a small chance of success. What about pregnancy? The fetal god is in the Kongwang (wasteland) and bad position, so be careful that it may not be a real pregnancy. What about illness? A sudden illness is not serious, but if it is about the illness of the parents, it is not auspicious. What about lawsuits? Matters of worry and doubt will eventually be resolved. What about lost items? Look for them near abandoned and deserted tombs. What about traveling? The places you go to will not have a place to settle down. What about a traveler? He will arrive on the day indicated by the final transmission. What about military affairs? Be careful of enemy spies and deception, and casting the divination at night is slightly more favorable.

The "Bifa Fu" cites the saying "The guest and host do not match with the criminal god above," meaning that if the upper god carries a criminal aspect, the guest and host will not harmonize. The "Zuanyao" explains that the upper branch Zi and Chou form Liu He, while the lower branches Mao and Chen form Li Huai, resulting in an outwardly smooth but inwardly uneven situation. The harmonious side is empty, while the harmful side is solid, leading to empty joy and real harm. It also states that on Yimao day, if the month general is Zi and the lesson is cast at Mao hour, the god under the sun acts as a nobleman to generate the dwelling, indicating there must be buried treasure beneath the dwelling. If the divination is cast in the year of Zi, the family will surely have a noble son that year. Although Zi falls in the旬空, the sun is a solid heavenly image, so it is not afraid of the旬空. The "Miyao" says that Chou is the storage of official ghosts, and if it is on top of the day stem, one must beware of people secretly causing trouble and fabricating crimes.

On the Yimao day, fifth arrangement: dry branch over Zi.

The three categories of the lesson pattern are: "Qu Zhi" refers to the combination of亥, 卯, and 未 forming a wood pattern, indicating the nature of wood as curved and straight; "Yi Nu" refers to a lesson where the Heavenly Empress and Liu He are combined, indicating affairs of private relationships and licentiousness. The lesson meaning states: the禄神 and Tomb Spirit are both accompanied by the White Tiger; although the empty nobleman comes to be born with the day stem, he is ineffective; the three transmissions move from the Storage to the Growth, indicating a pattern of moving from storage to growth. The commentary explains: 未 is the Storage of Yi Wood, 卯 is the禄神 of Yi Wood, and both are occupied by the White Tiger. If the divination is done during the day concerning illness, the White Tiger indicates illness and loss, indicating a dangerous situation; if done at night concerning official position, the White Tiger harms wood, and the official position cannot be maintained. The nobleman on 子 although comes to be born with the day stem, is unfortunate because it is in the empty旬, and is also unreliable. Only the final transmission of亥 water is the Growth of Yi Wood; since it does not go directly to亥, but moves from the Storage to the Growth, it indicates a period of confusion first, and eventually a realization.

The divination states: This is a lesson beginning with the principal element, forming a pattern of curved and straight wood, which seems logical in theory, but the matter is mixed and unclear, leading to situations that neither succeed nor unite. Among the three inner lessons, the elements of Zi, Chen, and Shen form mutual opposition with the three transmissions of Wei, Mao, and Hai, each pair forming the six harmful relationships. This indicates that within the context of affection, enmity is formed, and good things turn into disputes. Since the lesson was cast at night, it starts from the Heavenly Empress and passes to Liu He, forming a lesson of a loose woman, which warns against improper matters between men and women. The first transmission has the Heavenly Empress riding on the seasonal gods of Chen, Xu, Chou, and Wei, and its hidden spirit is the White Tiger, which is unfavorable for the wife.

Questioning the weather: there is much wind and little rain. Questioning the household: the god of growth is present at the house position, indicating good fortune for the house, but one should be cautious about internal matters. Questioning fame: success comes late, and it is advisable to rely on others' help. Questioning wealth: there is no profit to be made. Questioning marriage: the marriage will come about late; it is not suitable if the divination is cast at night. Questioning childbirth: the fetal god is seated on the position of kongwang and storage, so there is a fear that it may not be a true pregnancy. Questioning illness: the wife is likely to suffer misfortune. Questioning lawsuits: in places where there was originally harmony, there is now discord, so the matter should be resolved as soon as possible. Questioning lost items: the officers will not exert effort. Questioning travel: there will be obstacles on the way, and it will be favorable only after arrival. Questioning a traveler: the traveler will be delayed halfway. Questioning warfare: victory can be achieved in spring and winter, but in other seasons one should beware of the enemy pretending to surrender to lure.

The "Bifa Fu" cites three lines: "Although the nobleman is in prison, he is still suitable if he is near the day stem," meaning that even though the nobleman is in a position of imprisonment, if he is adjacent to the day stem, he can still be used; "The day stem's burial and the gate of the gate are both involved, leading to the ruin of people and dwellings," meaning that if the day stem's burial god and the gate are both involved, both people and their homes will suffer; "A harmonious relationship with a harmful spirit is like砒霜 in honey," meaning that if a harmful spirit is mixed within a harmonious relationship, it is like砒霜 mixed into honey. An old case is attached: a person born in the year of Dingmao, in the year of Wushen, used the卯 as the month general to divinate his entire life. The interpretation said that the person's own god served as the nobleman and was also born with the day stem; the three transmissions formed a wood pattern, moving from the burial to prosperity, then from prosperity to growth, indicating that this person would certainly be born into humble circumstances, but would gradually become prosperous and enjoy a long life. However, in the transmission of the course, there was no fire, and fire is the son of the wood, indicating that he would not have biological children; the same kind of god formed the Liu He, mainly indicating that he would have a son from a brother by adoption. The wife's wealth god was on an empty burial and was accompanied by the white tiger, indicating that he would first lose his wife. The卯 brought the禄 to the position of 未, and the final transmission was the Heavenly Empress, which was also the growth god returning to the禄 position, indicating that his second wife would be a young woman and that she would bring wealth and prosperity to her husband. All these predictions were later verified.

On the Yimao day, sixth arrangement, with the heavenly stem on Hai.

The two categories of lesson patterns, "Shehai" and "Sijue," have already been mentioned before. The lesson meaning states: When casting a divination during the day, all three transmissions become empty; the nobleman of the night is also absent. This is unfavorable for seeking official positions but beneficial for avoiding calamities. The commentary explains: The middle transmission is "Chou," which is empty for the current ten-day period, and the final transmission "Shen" is also sitting on an empty position. Only the first transmission "Wu" is real. However, during the day, "Wu" is occupied by the "Tian Kong" general, so all three transmissions are effectively empty. "Shen" is the nobleman of the night, serving as the official star, but it is now in a declining position and cannot be found. Although the three transmissions follow the sequence of mutual generation, they lack strength, so someone with an official position would find no benefit in this divination. If a common person divines, "Shen" is originally the official ghost of the day stem, which is not empty. But without an empty position, how can one escape calamity? Thus, this emptiness actually brings benefit.

The interpretation says: This divination shows a situation where the day stem is being supported by the heavenly stem above it, and the day stem in turn supports the three transmitters. The three transmitters then support each other in a smooth sequence. Normally, this would mean everything goes smoothly, with support from people during the day and assistance from spirits at night. However, there are continuous losses of energy and kongwang, leading to many changes and illusions in the matter. Too much favor leads to deep resentment. The official ghost has no strength, so the matter will surely start but not finish. It seems to have succeeded, but in reality it is a failure. The hexagram belongs to the four extremes, which is favorable for concluding old matters but unfavorable for starting new ones. If used to divinate about worries or troubles, it is easy to resolve and dissipate them.

Questioning the weather: there has been a long drought with no rain, and the grass and trees are withered. Questioning the household: there is a dog in the house that bites. Questioning fame and status: it is favorable to cast the divination at the beginning of the Zi month. Questioning wealth: it is not obtainable. Questioning marriage: it cannot be completed. Questioning pregnancy: it is not suitable to divinate pregnancy, but if divining childbirth, the child will be born immediately. Questioning illness: an acute illness will recover immediately, but a chronic illness will lead to a loss of vital energy. Questioning lost items: they will not return. Questioning lawsuits: the other party speaks many falsehoods, but the case will be easily settled. Questioning travel: changing the day will be more satisfactory. Questioning a traveler: if the question is about descendants, they will arrive immediately. Questioning military affairs: one must beware of being deceived, and should set up defenses in empty places. Questioning burial: water will come from the Xu direction, and the direction facing Gen towards Kun is favorable.

The "Bifa Fu" cites two lines: "Empty and empty, matters should not be pursued further," meaning that if everything is empty, there is no need to look back; "If the three transmissions do not move, one should examine the first transmission and the time when the divination began." The "Shen Ding Jing" states that the day stem generates the first transmission, the first transmission generates the middle transmission, the middle transmission generates the final transmission, and the final transmission then goes back to overcome the day stem, which is called "enormous kindness and deep resentment," meaning that continuous kindness leads to eventual retaliation. It also says that the official star in the final transmission is overcome by the first transmission and is taken into the storage by the middle transmission, leaving the official ghost without strength, which is unfavorable for those in official positions but beneficial for ordinary people to resolve difficulties and remove misfortunes. The "Xinyin Fu" mentions that when Wu is placed on Hai, You on Yin, Zi on Si, and Mao on Shen, these four positions are called the four endings in various books, and they are most effective for cutting off old matters.
