On the Dingchou day, third arrangement: stem on Si, branch on巳.
Charting guides: Da Liu Ren Chart Calculator, Jin Kou Jue Chart
The lesson pattern is "Chong Shen," "Jian Chuan," and "Shi Dun." The four sentences of "Ke Yi" state: Noblemen are everywhere, favorable for visiting important officials; the heavenly stems and earthly branches are mutually at their extremes, and the three transmissions and six positions are entirely occupied by yin spirits. Detailed explanation: Hai is the day nobleman, You is the night nobleman, both appearing in the third and fourth lessons, and also falling in the first and middle transmissions, which can be said to be everywhere. This is favorable for visiting in person, but not favorable for long-term reliance, because too many noblemen make them not exclusive. Fire is at its extreme in Hai, earth is at its extreme in Si, now the heavenly stems and earthly branches are mutually at their extremes, suitable for mutual succession. Moreover, the three transmissions are transmitted in intervals, entirely falling on the six yin positions, suitable for secret plots, but not favorable for official matters.
General interpretation: This is a "Chong Shen" (re-examination) divination, with an inverse retreat intermediate transmission, conforming to the "Shi Dun" (time evasion) pattern. The initiating transmission starts from the young god, proceeds to the middle god and then to the old god, with a yin element added to another yin element, indicating a secret plot involving lower people and women. If one follows reason and propriety, it should correspond to the "Pine Horse's Constancy" in the Book of Changes' Kun hexagram and the "Yellow Robe's Great Good Fortune" in the sixth line of the fifth hexagram; otherwise, there will be worries, doubts, difficulties, and one will find oneself in a desperate situation. The middle and final transmissions fall into Kongwang (void), meaning all matters start but do not finish, and whether good or bad, they are all empty and not substantial.
Divination on the weather: mostly overcast with no rain. Divination on the household: it is suitable to exchange residences with others; during the night, there is a battle within the Vermilion Bird trigram, beware of disputes and fire-related incidents. Divination on marriage: it will not succeed. Divination on pregnancy: it indicates a female child, or a servant giving birth. Divination on official rank: the current master is likely to be assigned to a different post, to manage examinations, but fear that although recommended, he may not be able to achieve success. Divination on seeking wealth: it can be obtained in the eighth month. Divination on illness: it indicates a cold pathogen, with symptoms lighter during the day and heavier at night. Divination on lost items: it indicates that the item was stolen by a woman and is hidden deeply, making it difficult to find. Divination on travel: visiting a nobleman may result in being seen but not receiving assistance. Divination on a traveler: if the person is a superior, he will return immediately. Divination on disputes: it indicates disputes over land transactions or private matters, with each party relying on powerful families, eventually leading to resolution. Divination on military matters: it is suitable to use spies and be flexible in response.
The "Bifa Fu" says: If the nobleman appears at both day and night, it is favorable to seek support from two noblemen; if all four lessons and three transmissions are noblemen, then there is no support to rely on; if the nobleman is not included in the three transmissions, one must examine the time of the first transmission. The "Liu Ren Ke Jing" says: The hours of亥, 酉, and 未 form the "Shi Dun Ge" (Time Concealment Pattern), because 酉 is Tai Yin, and 未 contains the spirit of Ding, the Post-horse, and the Jade Maiden, which is favorable for concealment and hiding; when the course moves from亥 to 未, it is like a person entering a dark place to seek concealment, showing the image of hiding, which is auspicious for the virtuous and inauspicious for the petty. The "Liu Ren Zuan Yi" says: If the lesson is cast at night with the Vermilion Bird in internal conflict, there will be disputes and fire-related troubles at home.
On the Dingchou day, the fourth arrangement: the stem is on the Chen position.
The lesson pattern is called "昴星" (Amber Star), "掩目" (Covering the Eyes), and "虎视" (Tiger Watching): when the four lessons have no mutual overcoming, taking the use from the酉 position is called "昴星." The lesson meaning consists of four lines, which say: the heavenly stem and earthly branch mutually envelop each other in darkness, each content with obscurity; the Hekui and Tiangang are riding on the Ding god, like riding on the back of a tiger. Detailed explanation: the burial place of the day branch covers the day stem, and the burial place of the day stem covers the day branch, which is mutual obscurity; and the day stem sits itself on戌, while the day branch sits itself on辰, which is each content with obscurity. Therefore, the "Bi Fa Fu" (Discerning the Fate Classic) uses the metaphor of "the heavenly net is vast and wide." The Hekui and Tiangang are originally active, but Ding is a changing god. Now, the Hekui is riding on the旬 Ding, and the Tiangang is riding on the lesson Ding, moving with great force, like riding on the back of a tiger and unable to get down.
Total interpretation: This is the "昴星" lesson, named "Winter Snake Covering the Eyes," also called "Tiger Watching." The Hekui and Tiangang are located above Chou and Wei, and both the person and the house are in a position of bending and stretching, all within the墓 (grave) position, which is very blocked. If the day and month rulers also appear in the four central positions, it becomes the two evils of Tianfan and Difan; when casting the lesson at night, the Teng Snake and White Tiger are rampant, especially indicating a凶 (dangerous) situation. The person should retreat and hide like a hibernating insect blocking its hole, and be extremely cautious to avoid misfortune.
Divination on weather: There will be thunder and lightning. If the divination is cast during the day, there will be abundant rain. If cast at night, there will be much wind. Divination on the household: If cast at night, there will be great fear or many strange dreams. Divination on marriage: It is not advisable. If one insists on proceeding, the couple will not be harmonious. Divination on pregnancy and childbirth: If cast during the day, giving birth to a son is auspicious. If cast at night, childbirth will occur immediately with some alarm in between. Divination on official rank: There is danger; one must be cautious and eventually it will be favorable, especially for those born in the year of the午 (horse). Divination on seeking wealth: Plans are likely to fail. Divination on illness: Sudden illness is not serious, but prolonged illness is ominous, indicating illness of fear and anxiety. Divination on lost items: Difficult to find. Divination on travel: Favorable for taking office, but other travels may lead to regret. Divination on a traveler: The person will be detained abroad. Divination on disputes: Unfavorable. Divination on military matters: If cast during the day, there will be unrest. If cast at night, there is a sign of acquiring treasure.
The "Bifa Fu" says: Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches each take their own墓 (mound), causing confusion and unclear situations; when a person and their dwelling share the same墓, they willingly invite darkness; when a lesson has the White Tiger looking sideways, and meets another White Tiger, even if there is strength, it cannot be fully exerted. The "Lunin Ke Jing" says: On Dingchou day, with the hour stem Chen added to Wei, during the night, the White Tiger rides upon theTomb Spirit (mound deity), comes to the self, and enters the three transmissions. The hexagram itself is already of the White Tiger looking sideways, as if encountering three White Tigers, even with strength, it is difficult to act, and danger is inevitable. The "Kuanang Fu" says: The昴星 (昴 star) lesson requires turning back and retreating to prevent danger.
On the Dingchou day, fifth arrangement: the stem is on the卯 (Mao) branch.
The lesson pattern is "Yuan Shou" and "Cong Ge." The four lines of the lesson meaning state: first give out small gains, then surely great wealth will return; although the three transmissions are empty, the heavenly general belongs to earth, and there will be abundant wife wealth. Detailed explanation: the day stem represents oneself, and the day branch represents others.酉 is my wealth, but it is an empty wealth; now it is added to 丑, meaning I first give small gains to the other party. Then 巳 is added to 酉, forming the three transmissions of the metal cycle, all becoming my benefits. The first transmission is riding on emptiness, the middle transmission is leaking energy, and the final transmission falls into the旬 empty. However, obtaining a pure earth heavenly general at night to generate them turns all emptiness into reality, resulting in abundant wife wealth.
General interpretation: This is a "Yuan Shou" type of divination, also matching the From Reform structure, indicating that matters are mostly smooth, originating from a man, showing a bright and open appearance. However, the Triple Harmony indicates a retreat, inevitably leading to obstacles. The卯 and酉 are separately placed on the heavenly stem and earthly branch, forming a pattern similar to the upper sixth line of the K'un hexagram in the I Ching, "Dragon fighting in the wild," which inevitably brings suspicion, jealousy, discord, and separation. The Nobleman is positioned at the卯, indicating that the younger generation and hidden people will suffer misfortune. Both the first and final transmissions are empty, and in between, there is loss and theft, leading to the use of empty schemes and efforts, always remaining empty and not substantial.
Divination on weather: the climate is dry with little cloud and little rain. Divination on the household: it is favorable to acquire land and to keep more servants. Divination on marriage: it is favorable to take a second wife, but one should beware of the wife being disrespectful to the parents-in-law. Divination on childbirth: one should beware of the mother not sitting properly during childbirth. Divination on official rank: it is favorable for those in high positions, but unfavorable for low-ranking officials. Divination on seeking wealth: there is wealth everywhere, but it cannot be obtained in reality. Divination on illness: it indicates disaster for the parents, with abdominal pain, diarrhea and bloody stools, and urgent illness will be resolved quickly. Divination on lost items: it is like grasping at shadows. Divination on travel: it is favorable to travel far to avoid misfortune, but unfavorable for attending funerals or visiting the sick. Divination on the arrival of a person: it refers to matters concerning servants or documents, and the person will arrive soon. Divination on disputes: when disputes first arise, they are difficult to resolve, but if the dispute continues, it may eventually lead to reconciliation. Divination on military matters: one must be cautious at every step to avoid defeat.
The *Bi Fa Fu* says: When both the person and the dwelling are in a dead position, they are both weak; although they are in harmony, they are afflicted byInauspicious Sha, like sweet honey containing arsenic. The *Liu Ren Ke Jing* says: Fan Li predicted the birth of a child for the King of Yue. The transmission was Shen added to Zi, with Si as the initiating transmission. The strong fire overcame the weak dead metal below, with the superior strong and the inferior weak, thus predicting the birth of a male child. The *Liu Ren Zhi Nan* records a case: In the first lunar month, with Hai as the month general added to the卯 hour, the prediction for promotion was made. The three transmissions fell into empty positions and lost energy, the year's master and the Azure Dragon were in a weak position, and both were riding on death qi. In spring, a metal formation was formed, and it was predicted that the official position would not be held for the full term, and the person should retire due to illness the next year. The person did not listen, and indeed was impeached and dismissed from office.
On the Dingchou day, sixth arrangement: the stem is on the寅 (Yin) position.
The lesson pattern is "Re-examination," "Four Extremes," and "Chiseling a Wheel." Chiseling a wheel refers to using metal to shape wood, symbolizing the process of refining something into a useful object. The four lines of the lesson meaning explain that the卯 wood is sitting on the empty申 metal, which is like using a dull axe to chop at rotten wood; although the matter is ruined, it can still be rebuilt after this cycle. Detailed explanation: The申 metal is in the旬 empty, and the卯 wood is sitting on it, so even though it forms the chiseling a wheel pattern, it still cannot avoid the situation of rotten wood that cannot be carved. The丁 fire is in the bathing phase and is weakened by卯, and also leaks energy to戌. The巳 is the破碎 god of the day branch, so the matter is definitely ruined. However, after this cycle, the申 metal fills in, so rebuilding is still possible. According to the principle, in the Jiachen cycle, the卯 wood is in the旬 empty, which would be considered rotten wood; now the申 is empty, which should be considered as having no axe, but it is still treated as rotten wood that cannot be carved.
Total interpretation: This is a "Re-examination" divination, with a structure matching "Cutting the Wheel." Yi and Geng form a harmonious connection, indicating official success and prominence. Unfortunately, Shen is at the旬空, making the axe dull, and the outcome remains like dealing with rotten wood. One must wait for the right opportunity to change plans, and should not act on impulse. Zi, Wu, Mao, and You are all in the绝地, suitable only for concluding past matters, and not favorable for new endeavors. If the divination is cast in the daytime with Mao as the initiating transmission, it indicates a struggle within Gou Chen; if cast at night, it indicates a struggle within Tian Kong.
Divination on weather: prolonged rain will soon clear up, and prolonged dry weather will soon have rain. Divination on the household: not prosperous, indicating there will be construction or renovation in the house. Divination on marriage: a good omen if the lesson is cast at night, but the auspicious period needs to be changed. Divination on pregnancy: the fetal god is in a dead position, so there is a risk of miscarriage. Divination on official rank: good material has not yet met someone who can recognize its value, changing paths will lead to success. Divination on seeking wealth: it cannot be obtained temporarily, one should pay more attention to property, but it is also in a dead position. Divination on illness: sudden illness is good, but long-term illness is bad, especially those born in the year of the tiger or rooster should be particularly cautious. Divination on lost items: difficult to find if the lesson is cast at night. Divination on travel: there will be obstacles. Divination on a traveler: if it refers to a brother, he will arrive immediately. Divination on disputes: one can get the help of a nobleman to mediate. Divination on military matters: the affairs are mostly exaggerated, one should be careful of losing the troops.
The "Bifa Fu" says: Most plans are clumsy because they fall into a net; if the empty position meets another empty position, there is no need to pursue further. The "Liu Ren Ke Jing" says: The day stem is covered by the day branch's net, and the day branch is covered by the day stem's net; I am about to net others, but others have already netted me. When Shen meets empty position, it is called "breaking the net." The "Xiu Zhong Jin" says: Whenever the卯 wood is in an empty position, it is also called rotten wood that cannot be carved, and it is advisable to abandon old occupations and seek new livelihoods. The "Ding'E" says: If the three transmissions include the墓神 of the current day, it is called "old wheel," meaning cutting the old wheel again, which indicates losing official position and losing job, yet still wanting to seek restoration.
On the Dingchou day, seventh arrangement, the stem is on the丑 branch.
The lesson pattern is "Reverse Chant," "No Close Friends," and "Parallel Column Shooting," which corresponds to the pattern "Well Column Oblique Shooting." The four lines of "Lesson Meaning" state: The mind has already been active beforehand, with the host and guest mutually approaching each other; affection is hard to forget, and joy is as before. Detailed explanation: The active element is Ding. The day stem is Ding, and the hidden stem in the day branch is also Ding. The combination of stem and branch results in two Dings interacting, indicating that the mind has already been activated, with the two Dings taking turns as host and guest, mutually approaching each other. The hidden壬water in亥forms a Ding-Ren combination with the day stem Ding and the initial transmission亥. The middle and final transmissions丑and未are closely connected, indicating that affection is hard to forget. The Ding in the middle transmission未and the Ding in the final transmission丑form a connection between two Dings, showing that the joy remains as before. The virtue god initiates the transmission, capable of resolving all kinds of dangers. Overall judgment: This is a "Reverse Chant with No Close Friends" lesson, belonging to the "Well Column Oblique Shooting" pattern. It indicates that the subject should act in two places at once, seeking help from the side is easy to succeed, but going straight is difficult. Matters are quickly completed but also quickly broken. Quietly maintaining harmony is appropriate, but any movement leads to disturbance. The two noblemen in day and night both overcome the gods they are associated with, indicating that the noblemen may be resentful.
Divination on weather: Divination for rain will bring rain immediately, but divination for clear weather will not bring clear weather at once. Divination on the household: The house is auspicious and people are harmonious, but there will be frequent moving. Divination on marriage: At first there is hesitation and uncertainty, but eventually it will be successful. Divination on pregnancy: The fetus is restless, but the divination during the day is auspicious. Divination on official rank: It is highly favorable, mostly involving experience in the previous position, and getting along very well with colleagues. Divination on seeking wealth: It is uncertain and fluctuating, but later there will be substantial accumulation. Divination on illness: The illness is severe but not dangerous, but one must prevent it from recurring. Divination on lost items: The items can be found back; a person who has run away will return by themselves. Divination on travel: There will be many encounters with old friends and relatives on the way. Divination on a traveler: The traveler will return immediately. Divination on disputes: The nobleman is not pleased, and the situation is changeable. Divination on military affairs: It is auspicious in the daytime but ominous at night, and the outcome of battle is uncertain.
The "Bifa Fu" says: When the墓 (storage) in the transmission falls into theStorage (storage repository), it should be viewed in two ways, one of affection and one of aversion; if the nobleman loses his footing, the situation becomes uneven. The "Lunin Zuyao" says: On a Dingchou day, if there is no conflict among the four lessons, the癸 water in the Chou palace shoots far towards the巳 palace's 丙 fire, then take the亥 god above巳 as the initiating transmission, like leaning against the well rim and shooting obliquely, unable to go beyond the well's mouth. 亥 is the official star and the virtue god, and it is not suitable to fall into the storage of the middle and final transmissions, which is unfavorable for those in official positions; but for common people, it is preferable for the official ghost to fall into storage. The "Xinyin Fu" says: Dengming (Hai) suddenly appears above the three transmissions, seeking a position of honor and power will surely be awarded the fish badge.
On the Dingchou day, the eighth arrangement: the stem is on the child branch.
The lesson pattern is "Reexamination," "Casting the Seal," and "Taking the Chariot." The four lines of the lesson meaning explain that at first there were deficiencies between them, and only later did they become harmonious; although on the surface they showed respect, in the end they still relied on the effort of servants. Detailed explanation: "Wei" is the harmful god of "Zi," and "Chou" is the harmful god of "Wu." The day stem and the day branch originally had deficiencies; then "Wei" combined with "Wu" and "Chou" combined with "Zi," thus achieving mutual harmony. However, "Zi" and "Wu," as well as "Chou" and "Wei," actually conflict directly. This so-called harmony is merely superficial respect. The fire of "Wu" can nourish the earth of "Chou," but the water of "Zi" still overcomes the fire of the day stem "Ding." Therefore, it can only be resolved by the middle transmission "Xu" earth, which is far away and restrains it. "Xu" represents servants, so it is said that the servants' strength is used to resolve the calamity.
Total interpretation: This is a "Chong Shen" (re-examination) divination, with a structure matching "Zhu Yin" (casting the seal), and also receiving "Cheng Xuan" (riding in a carriage). The nobleman will have great success and smoothness, but ordinary people will not be auspicious. The matter will be slow and take a long time to achieve. It is another case where the lower deity is the subject, and the two upper deities have no authority. The matter is initiated by a younger person or a subordinate, which is unfavorable to the elders. All matters should be handled according to reason. The middle transmission is two Teng Snakes enclosing the tomb deity. If the divination is cast on a summer day, it becomes excessive fire energy, which may damage the seal, resulting in an unfavorable omen.
Divination on weather: dry, hot, and little rain. Divination on the household: the house is favorable, but the head of the family is restless; it relies entirely on capable servants. Divination on marriage: it is auspicious for both families of high status, but not favorable for ordinary people. Divination on childbirth: a daughter will certainly have noble status, but there is a need to prevent injury. Divination on official rank: those taking the examination will certainly pass, those waiting for appointment will certainly get it, those holding office will certainly be promoted, and even those temporarily holding an official seal will eventually receive a real appointment. Divination on seeking wealth: those with official status will have wealth, but merchants will find it difficult. Divination on visiting: the relationship will be harmonious and friendly. Divination on illness: more bad than good. Divination on lost items: they will eventually be recovered, and those who have run away can also be captured. Divination on travel: going to take office is most suitable. Divination on a traveler: if it refers to a peer, they will arrive immediately. Divination on disputes: one will be deceived by others, and there is a need to beware of being imprisoned. Divination on military matters: it is凶 in the day and吉 at night; it is advisable to be cautious.
The "Bifa Fu" says: The position of an agent is not properly named because the official of fortune is present in the day branch. The "Liu Ren Zhi Nan" records a case: In the Guiyou year, second month, with You as the month general added at the hour of Wu, a person accused of being impeached divined the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of the reply. The interpretation was: Tian Kong initiates the transmission, definitely requiring a face-to-face audience with the emperor; the pattern of casting the seal and riding the carriage indicates a certain promotion and change of position; although the four lessons above and below are in conflict and harm, the hidden spirit of the day branch restrains the official of fortune, the punishment will be only a deduction of salary; by mid-autumn, the imperial decree appears on the Azure Dragon and the day's fortune, Wu again resides on Chou, definitely there will be honor of receiving a banner and a symbol of authority. Later, it indeed came true.
On the Dingchou day, the ninth arrangement: the heavenly stem is on the亥 (Hai) position.
The lesson pattern is "Chong Shen," meaning that in the four lessons, the lower god overcomes the upper god, and the use is determined accordingly; thus, all matters require careful reconsideration and are suitable for action after some delay. The three transmissions, consisting of the first, middle, and final transmissions, form a metal pattern with the triad of Si, You, and Chou, known as "Cong Ge." The initiating transmission god jumps out of its usual sequence, known as "Mo Yue," indicating an urgent matter. The lesson meaning, a four-character rhymed summary, states: the metal pattern formed by the three transmissions goes on to generate the亥 water official ghost on the旺 day stem, which is inherently alarming; fortunately, the heavenly general active at night is purely earthy, sufficient to restrain the亥 ghost. Although both the day and night "noblemen" (the heavenly master nobleman, the first among the twelve heavenly generals, who represents the guidance of a superior) are injured, the fallen wealth god is still generated, indicating that lost things still have a chance of being regained.
"Explanation says" is a sentence-by-sentence interpretation of the divination signs: the three transmissions Si, You, and Chou form a metal trinity, which instead goes to nourish the strong day stem亥 water official ghost. This is indeed something to be feared. Fortunately, the heavenly general on duty at night is purely earth in nature, and earth can overcome water, thus sufficient to control the ghost, and generally no great harm will result. The day nobleman is located on the soil of Wei, which is stubborn and subject to wood overcoming; the night nobleman is located on the fire of Si, which is in "empty" (a branch without a matching stem in the current ten-day cycle, having a position but no real existence), and is injured by fire. Both noblemen are not suitable for seeking help. The first transmission meets emptiness, the middle transmission sits on emptiness, and the final transmission approaches emptiness, meaning the entire wealth situation has already declined; fortunately, the night general comes to assist, which is a sign of regaining what was lost.
"Disposition" is a summary of the entire situation: this is a review lesson, with the three transmissions forming a metal pattern of transformation, and the addition of酉 to巳 creating a lesson of sorrow. The nature of the lesson originally indicates harmony and union, but due to the conflict between the day and the hour, harmony turns into turbulence. Moreover, both noblemen are restrained, and all three transmissions are entirely empty, indicating that the matter comes suddenly, with only sound but no real result. If one remains calm and content with simplicity, one will find ease and happiness; but if one forcefully pursues things beyond one's means, it will only result in wasted effort and ultimately nothing gained.
Heavenly Weather: It is about to rain but then clears up. Family Residence: The household fortune is flourishing and can bring wealth, but the master is restless in mind. Marriage: There will be news in the future, but ultimately it is not auspicious. Childbirth: A boy is born on the卯 day, but one should be cautious of an unstable fetal condition. Official Rank: It is most suitable to obtain an official position by contributing wealth, or to inherit the family's existing position, otherwise there will be no other success. Seeking Wealth: One can obtain treasures, and even if lost, they can be recovered.
Meeting: It is not advisable to go and seek the nobleman. Illness: The body is not well. Loss: Lost items may be hidden in the earth, and can be recovered. Travel: Going west is favorable. Traveler: If divined from outside, the person has already returned; if divined from home, the person has not yet departed. Dispute: It will anger the superior officer, but it will be easily resolved. Military conflict: There is no profit to be gained, and one should beware of soldiers causing unrest or enemy generals coming to spy on the camp.
The "Bifa Fu" says: If the three transmissions are all wealth divinatory signs, they will transform into official ghosts, and wealth does not need to be sought further; if two noblemen are overcome, it will be difficult to seek favor from the nobleman; if the official ghost is riding on the heavenly general tianyi, it is a supernatural occurrence. The "Ke Jing" says: If all three transmissions are wealth divinatory signs, taking one as the used one will generate the official ghost of the day stem, like honey on a knife blade, which should not be licked; only in daytime divination is it suitable to seek help from noblemen with wealth, to obtain grace and be appointed to an official position. The "Xinyin Fu" says: If you have酉 on the巳 and the Vermilion Bird, one of the twelve heavenly generals, which governs documents and speech, initiates the transmission, then seeking favor from noblemen and seeking wealth will have favorable omens.
On the Dingchou day, the tenth layout: the stem is on the戌 position.
The lesson pattern is "Mao Star" (the four lessons have no mutual control, and the divine transmission is initiated from the You position), also known as "Winter Snake Covering the Eyes," indicating darkness and stagnation; during the day, it becomes "White Tiger Watching," resembling a fierce tiger watching stealthily, requiring vigilance against hidden dangers. The lesson meaning states that the day stem and day branch are both occupied by the tomb deity, and during the day, it also encounters the Teng Snake (indicating fear and strange dreams) and the White Tiger (indicating illness, death, and danger on the road), while the two noblemen in day and night positions both fall into emptiness, offering no assistance to the matter at hand.
The day stem and day branch are both covered by theTomb Spirit, and during the day, encountering the Teng Snake and White Tiger brings about confusion and danger that goes beyond mere stagnation. At night, the nobleman is exactly in the旬空, and during the day, the nobleman is also sitting on an empty position. At such a time, trying to rely on the nobleman's assistance for affairs will bring no help at all.
This is a divination lesson of the winter snake covering its eyes, and during the day, it is also a case of the tiger watching and encountering a tiger, so one must be cautious of secret schemes and be particularly alarmed. If this is further combined with the sun and moon staying in the four cardinal directions of Zi, Wu, Mao, and You, it forms the patterns of heavenly and earthly troubles, leading to even more severe misfortunes. Fortunately, the first transmission is the午 fire riding on the Azure Dragon (a favorable Heavenly General, representing wealth, joy, and official rank), and 午 is both the禄神 of the day丁 and the支德 of the branch丑. Although the third transmission enters a墓, the final transmission White Tiger dispels theTomb Spirit, using a凶 to counteract another凶. As long as one is cautious, although there may be worries and troubles, they will not result in major disasters.
Heavenly Conditions: Teng Snake and White Tiger both indicate change, so rain, wind, thunder and lightning all occur together, and rainbows appear. Home: The tomb spirit covers and presses down, making the house dark and inauspicious; during the day, strange dreams occur and people are easily startled, while at night, one should be cautious of private affairs within the house. Marriage: The two families cannot harmonize, so it is not suitable to marry. Pregnancy: If asking about childbirth, the delivery will happen on time, but if asking about pregnancy, one should be careful of harm to the fetus. Achievements: The path is full of obstacles, and it is difficult to achieve success. Seeking Wealth: Wealth cannot be obtained. Seeking an Audience: One cannot meet the person. Disease: The sick person is in danger if they are away from home, but if they stay at home, although it is dangerous, they will not be harmed. Loss: Lost items cannot be recovered. Travel: There will be fright on the way. Travelers: They will arrive soon. Disputes: Both parties suffer losses. Warfare: Going to war is disadvantageous. Tombs: There will be disturbances in the southwest direction.
The "Bifa Fu" says: When two noblemen fall into the empty position, the auspicious time is false; when the white tiger meets another white tiger, strength cannot be exerted; when people and their homes share the same tomb god, they will only invite darkness and confusion; when both the day stem and day branch are seated on the tomb god, they are both confused and unclear. The "Ke Jing" says: In the昴star lesson, encountering the Teng Snake and the white tiger is extremely凶, but only when Wu is added to Mao does the Bright Hall appear, which indicates prosperity in all matters—because Wu belongs to the position of Li, which represents brightness, and Mao is the heavenly horse and the dwelling of the Bright Hall. In the face of misfortune, it can turn into good fortune. It also says that when Wei is added to Chen or Chou is added to Xu, the day stem and day branch are seated on the tomb, and both sides should not approach each other, which must be the case of foolish people. The "Xin Jing" says: When the useful god originates from the昴star, it is called the white tiger looking around; during the autumn equinox, looking at the You position can determine life and death; if a woman is淫逸 and unrestrained, one should inquire into the cause, and this is precisely the situation that is difficult to prevent.
On Dingchou day, the eleventh section: the heavenly stem is over You.
The lesson pattern is called "Chong Shen" (Re-examination). The three transmissions are spaced apart and are called "Jian Chuan" (Intermediate Transmission). When the sequence runs in reverse and the yin energy is stagnant, it is called "Ning Yin" (Stagnant Yin). If the day branch is in "Guchen" (Lonely Hour) and "Gusu" (Solitary Guest), it is called "Gugua" (Lonely and Solitary). The lesson meaning states: the day stem is in the酉 metal, which is both empty and dead, so seeking wealth is not favorable. In the three transmissions, "Xun Ding" (the hidden Ding spirit of this ten-day period, which governs movement) appears together with the post-horse, which usually indicates movement. However, the two noblemen of day and night both fall empty, so even if they appear, it is of no use.
The metal of the酉 is the wealth deity for a day with the stem 丁, but it is also the place where 丁 fire meets its demise. Now, 酉 is exactly in the旬空, yet it is positioned above the day stem, as if the wealth is right in front of the eyes. It is like an empty flower in a mirror and a poisoned cup, and one must not attempt to take it. The middle transmission is theThe Post-horse of the day branch, and the final transmission is the 丁 deity of the current ten-day period. Sitting on these two deities, one's mind naturally begins to think of movement. Unfortunately, both noblemen are in the空, so even if one enters the four lessons and three transmissions, it will be in vain. Both the day stem and day branch are occupied by the death deity, so nothing should be done recklessly.
This is a review lesson, with the three transmissions proceeding in order but passing through intervening positions, forming a pattern of condensed yin. The matter is initiated by a young and weak person, which is unfavorable to superiors; all affairs tend to be obstructed, and it is not advisable to act first. Moreover, the situation is completely empty, with nothing to rely on, and only those who are monks, Taoists, or practitioners of esoteric arts will not be affected. Those who are scholars or ordinary people who cast this divination will encounter misfortune, regret, and failure in all endeavors. Only during the middle of autumn, in the eighth month when the metal of You is in command, will there be some benefit.
Heavenly conditions: dark clouds gather and remain for a long time without dispersing. Family dwelling: the house is dark and unclear, both the house and its occupants are not auspicious. Marriage: neither auspicious nor successful. Pregnancy: be cautious of an unstable fetal condition. Achieving fame: repeated efforts are not smooth, only those divined in the eighth month are auspicious. Seeking wealth: like grasping at shadows. Seeking an audience: the person sought is not encountered. Illness: sudden illness is actually auspicious, but prolonged illness is inauspicious, mostly indicating a cold disease. Loss: lost items will not return, but those who have run away will come back on their own. Traveling: after leaving, one will certainly return. Travelers: if divining about servants, they will arrive immediately. Disputes: only fear is seen, neither party's secret schemes will succeed. Warfare: if divined during the day, it is inauspicious; if divined at night, it is auspicious.
The "Bifa Fu" says: When noblemen are present both day and night, one may seek help from two noblemen; both the person and the dwelling are in a dead position, each experiencing weakness and illness. The "Xinyin Fu" says: The pattern of condensed yin has the imagery of stepping on frost and approaching solid ice, indicating matters are dark and unclear. The "Gujian" records: In the year Jiyou, using the hour of Wu and placing it on Chen to inquire about the future, the interpretation was: The sovereign transforms into the Vermilion Bird, with the water official ghost at亥, and the fire丁 reaches the亥 which is a dead position, indicating making a petition and being demoted and exiled.酉 is the favored concubine, with the nobleman on亥, which in turn harms his wife;卯 is the mother god of the day丁, being controlled by酉 metal; the native's palace is at巳, forming a metal circle with酉 and丑: this is favoring the concubine and abandoning the wife and mother, and being demoted is appropriate.
On Dingchou day, the twelfth layout: Heaven's stem on Shen
The lesson pattern is called "Chong Shen," meaning repeated review. The three transmissions, Shen, You, and Xu, follow in sequence and are named "Jin Ru," meaning advancing gradually. Since all three are metal and progress step by step, they are also called "Liu Jin," meaning flowing metal. The lesson meaning says: clinging to the empty wealth on the day stem, one will ultimately gain nothing; moving further to You, one falls into an empty and dead place; fortunately, the final transmission Xu is the tomb god, which can support the previous wealth line. Therefore, reckless action leads to loss, but remaining still can lead to renewed success.
The metal of the day stem, Shēn, is considered wealth, but it falls in the旬空, making it impossible to hold onto. Moving forward, the metal of You is also in the旬空, and it is the place where Ding fire is weak, so it is difficult to avoid loss. Fortunately, the final transmission has the earth of Xu, which is the tomb of the earth, capable of generating the wealth of Shēn and You from the first and middle transmissions. Therefore, if one takes action and makes plans, it may result in loss; but if one remains calm and content, it can lead to recovery.
This is a lesson of re-examination, with the three transmissions proceeding in order and connected. Although the structure of the hexagram is smooth, its nature is inverted. Moreover, both the yin and yang spirits of the three transmissions and four lessons fall into empty and barren places, appearing almost like illusions or fleeting dreams. If one can remain content and follow the natural course, neither worrying over troubles nor rejoicing at good news, one may enjoy blessings without effort. However, if one acts recklessly, it will be like grasping at shadows and mist, leading to loss of wealth and harm to others. If this lesson is taken in the three months of autumn, it is somewhat favorable, because the metal energy is dominant and the empty and barren places are filled.
Heavenly timing: There is rain in autumn, but little rain in other seasons. Family affairs: The family is not thriving, and there is someone living alone. Marriage: It cannot be successful. Pregnancy: When predicting pregnancy, be cautious of an unstable fetal condition; when predicting childbirth, it will happen immediately. Achieving fame and status: It is difficult to attain. Seeking wealth: Going out to do business will result in loss, while staying put and waiting will bring gain. Seeking an audience: If divined during the day, the person you are seeking is troubled by matters; if divined at night, you will not meet them.
Disease: The illness will heal on its own, but if it persists for a long time, it will be dangerous. Loss: Lost items will be difficult to recover once they are out of the family, but a person who has run away can be captured. Travel: A journey will be in vain, with no benefit gained. Traveler: If the person is the head of the family, he will arrive immediately, but others will arrive only by the autumn month. Dispute: The dispute is over something of no real value, and it will not lead to a lawsuit. Warfare: There will be no encounter with the enemy, but one should be cautious of losing the people's support.
The "Bifa Fu" says: If everything is empty and nothing is there, matters do not need to be urgent; if advancing meets an empty situation, it is advisable to retreat; the plans made are mostly clumsy, and one is actually trapped in a net. The "Xiu Zhong Jin" says: When Shen, You, and Xu are connected in order, it is called "flowing gold," like driving a horse on a bridge covered with frost. The "Liu Ren Zhi Nan" records: In the year of Gengyin, during the seventh month, use the "Wu" general added to "Si," to divinate about a traveler. It is interpreted as: advancing meets an empty situation, "Yuanwu" (one of the twelve heavenly generals, governing theft and loss) and the "jiesha" (plundering death) enter the hidden spirits of the day branch, indicating that there are military conflicts and thieves at the border areas; family members have retreated to the mountains and rivers. After the autumn equinox, they will arrive on the day of Zi or Chou. Later, they indeed arrived on time, because they had to avoid thieves, which delayed their journey.
