Charting guides: Da Liu Ren Chart Calculator, Jin Kou Jue Chart

This lesson pattern features both "Reverse Chant" and "Original Womb" simultaneously, indicating that matters are repeatedly changing and starting anew. The meaning of the lesson suggests that the day stem and day branch interact with each other, forming the six harmful relationships, with suspicion and discord hidden within. If the lesson was cast at night, the亥 water, which overcomes the day, rides the Vermilion Bird, indicating ghosts and disasters. If cast during the day, the official ghost rides the nobleman, indicating supernatural disturbances.

The heavenly stem and earthly branch of the day are originally paired in mutual harmony, but the combinations of巳 with寅 and亥 with申 form the six harmful relationships, thus introducing suspicion into an otherwise harmonious situation—although they may be united, the suspicion never disappears. When casting a divination at night, the water of亥 rides upon the Vermilion Bird and acts as an official ghost that overcomes the fire of丙, indicating hidden troubles and disasters. When casting a divination in the day, the official ghost rides upon the nobleman, indicating interference by supernatural forces.

The interpretation states: reverse chant divination indicates unpredictable changes. The yang and yin spirits of the day stem and day branch, together with the four lessons and three transmissions, have both harmonies and conflicts, as well as punishments and harms, resembling the situation of turning hands from clouds to rain. Moreover, the water of亥 is placed on丙, forming an openly visible official ghost, while the wood of寅 hides the water of壬, forming a concealed official ghost. The difficulty of human hearts has reached its peak at this point. The official ghost transformed by the Vermilion Bird is positioned on the day stem, which most fears someone filing an accusation. Fortunately, it is riding on the nobleman, so it is most suitable to seek the nobleman's help to settle all previous matters.

When asking about the weather, the water god approaches the day and also overcomes it, indicating the Wind Mansion (Ji Xu) repeatedly influences the situation, resulting in unpredictable wind and rain. When asking about the household, the寅 wood is attacked and overcome, causing the respected elders in the family to lack peace. When asking about official career, although a nobleman is present on the person, it coincides with the day's virtue being empty and the禄 god being at its decline, indicating poor official fortune. When asking about seeking wealth, the wealth god combines with people, so there is no need to seek it; it will come naturally. When asking about marriage, it is a good match between a good son-in-law and daughter-in-law, but one must be cautious of future disputes. When asking about childbirth, a male child is auspicious and delivery will be easy. When asking about illness, the patient experiences alternating cold and heat, but the illness will soon recover. When asking about travel, the lesson pattern is extremely unstable, but the upper gods are harmonious with each other, so the travel date will definitely be delayed. When asking about a missing person, the Tiangang is placed on the position of the four seasons, indicating the person who has left will arrive immediately. When asking about military affairs, the Azure Dragon influences the life qi, and starting a battle at night will lead to victory.

The "Bifa Fu" says: mutual suspicion arises because the harmful spirits follow along the path; the official ghost rides on the nobleman, indicating supernatural interference; if both the day stem and day branch are in the state of decline, any plan should be abandoned. The "Ke Jing" says: on a丙 day with巳 added to亥, it forms the pattern of "virtue entering the heavenly gate," which indicates that those who study and seek official positions will certainly succeed in exams. The "Yucheng Ge" says: when a reverse chant pattern appears in a divination, do not make definitive statements; coming and going in pairs often indicates two causes; for ordinary people, it signifies inner restlessness, even if they remain still, there is underlying resentment. The "Zhiyao" says: reverse chant indicates uncertainty in matters; in divination about illness, it suggests the occurrence of two diseases at once.

On the Bingshen day, the eighth arrangement: the stem is on the戌 position.

This lesson's "Lesson Pattern" is "Original Leader." The Hekui (Xu) earth is added to the day stem as the initiating transmission, forming the "Cutting the Gate" pattern. The meaning of the lesson indicates that both sides of the day stem and day branch are covered and pressed by the墓神 (mù shén, tomb deity); the nobleman in the night falls into the position of the prison; if this is a daytime divination about illness, the patient's life is in danger; because the day branch, which is the metal of Shen, is immersed into the wood of Mao, and the upper rider is theLiu He (liu he, six harmonies), it is just like the body lying in a coffin.

The earth branch Xu is the storage for fire, and now it is placed upon Bing fire; the earth branch Chou is the storage for metal, and now it is placed upon Shen metal. Both the day stem and day branch are covered by their respective storage deities, causing confusion and lack of clarity on both sides. The nobleman appears at You metal, which is located at Chen position, indicating the nobleman has entered prison. At this time, if one seeks help from others, it will only provoke anger. The day branch Shen metal is already covered by its storage deity and is further immersed in Mao wood. Above it is theLiu He, which refers to a coffin made of six boards, matching the meaning of "six boards." Since "Shen" and "Shen" (body) have the same sound, the body is now in the coffin. If this is used to predict illness during the day, death is certain. If this is divined in the third month, the death qi is precisely located at the Shen direction, making the prediction especially accurate.

The interpretation says: This is a lesson of cutting through barriers, indicating active turmoil and instability. The hidden stem of the day stem is at the end of the current ten-stem cycle, and the hidden stem of the day branch is at the beginning of the same cycle, which is also called "Comprehensive Pattern." It is said that the beginning and end meet, and in divination, the outcome will not be empty. However, in this case, the metal of the hour of Shen serves as the wife's wealth, so when divining matters related to the spouse, it is particularly dangerous.

When asking about the weather, the tomb god covers the day stem, and water qi moves above, indicating a rainy and gloomy condition. When asking about the household, both the day stem and day branch are under the influence of the tomb god, resulting in extreme darkness, and with additional punishments and harms, there will inevitably be injuries. When asking about official positions, officials and noblemen do not appear, and the day virtue and day fortune are empty and at their decline, indicating an unfavorable official career. When asking about wealth, although the wealth element is visible, it is covered by the tomb god, making it difficult to obtain. When asking about marriage, the male side is unfavorable, and the female side is also not auspicious. When asking about childbirth, the upper god is strong while the lower god is weak, indicating a male fetus; if both mother and child are in the tomb storage, the delivery will be delayed and difficult. When asking about illness, there may be problems with the spleen and stomach, or a mass in the abdomen, accompanied by confusion and difficulty in treatment. When asking about travel, traveling by water is unfavorable, and traveling by land is even worse. When asking about a missing person, the heavenly罡 is placed in the four young positions, indicating that the person has not yet started moving. When asking about military affairs, it is onlywith difficulty acceptable in spring, but unfavorable at other times.

The *Bifa Fu* says: When two Teng Snakes surround theTomb Spirit (burial god), misfortune is unavoidable; if both the day stem and day branch are riding on theTomb Spirit, both sides will be confused and unclear. The *Shen Ding Jing* says: When戌 earth is placed on the day stem to form the day stem's burial, whether in day or night, the heavenly generals will ride on the Teng Snake; the巳 position on the earth plate itself is also Teng Snake, thus forming two snakes surrounding the burial, danger cannot be avoided. When used for divination on illness, there will certainly be a mass in the abdomen, leading to an untreatable condition; if the person's year of birth and destiny is exactly戌, the misfortune will come especially urgently. If the person's year of birth and destiny falls on亥, with the heavenly罡 (Tiangang) above, one can use the White Tiger to break the Teng Snake, which is called "breaking the burial," perhaps delaying the illness for some time; but ultimately, the person cannot be saved, because the White Tiger is in an empty position, lacking strength.

On the Bingshen day, the ninth division: the heavenly stem is on You (West)

This lesson's "Lesson Pattern" is "Re-examination." The three transmissions are in the branches巳, 酉, and 丑, which form a metal trinity, known as "From Reform," indicating a situation where things first proceed smoothly and then undergo change. The lesson's meaning states that the day stem is accompanied by a nobleman at night; however, the wealth god at daytime is accompanied by a broken andInauspicious Sha (malevolent) element. The heavenly general at night belongs to earth, which can generate and support the entire metal wealth. Therefore, this lesson suggests it is suitable to borrow money from others for circulation.

In the case of酉 metal placed over 丙 fire, if the divination is cast at night, it is the nobleman of the 丙 day that is present on the person, and one may seek the nobleman's help. If the divination is cast during the day, the酉 metal becomes the wealth god of the 丙 day, riding upon the Vermilion Bird and bringing the breaking-up calamity. This money will certainly involve some expenditure. At night, the heavenly general is purely a soil deity, although it releases the energy of 丙 fire, it can also generate and assist in forming a complete metal wealth. Therefore, if one turns to arranging loans, there will also be some initial expenditure followed by some gain.

The divination states: This is a lesson of metal transformation, initially following old customs, later bringing about change, thus appearing contradictory and separated. The酉 metal and丁 deity are on the day stem and initiate the transmission, so the matter will certainly arise from wife and wealth. The wealth deity has entered the storage, so obtaining it will be delayed. Both the day stem and day branch are riding the death deity, so it is only suitable to stop and rest, not to take action or plan. The three transmissions form a metal group, which in turn benefits the子 water official ghost in the day branch, so it is only suitable to contribute grain and rice in order to seek a title.

When asking about the weather, the mansion of Net (毕宿) is on the approach day and initiates the transmission, and the three transmissions also generate water, so there will be heavy rain within this ten-day period. When asking about the household, the person and the house mutually destroy each other; when the lesson is cast at night, the lost spirit drains the day branch, and the upper position is occupied by the Black Tortoise, so loss of wealth and belongings is inevitable. When asking about official rank, the nobleman and the grain god both fall into emptiness, and they also meet the broken-up evil spirit; giving grain and rice is favorable, and those whose birth sign is Snake or Horse can pass the examination. When asking about seeking wealth, the wealth god in the three transmissions turns into official ghosts, so one must beware of trouble arising from this. When asking about marriage, although the day stem and day branch are in harmony, they also mutually destroy each other, so there may be some failure in the process of achieving the marriage. When asking about childbirth, it is a female fetus, and the delivery will be difficult. When asking about illness, when the lesson is cast in the daytime and the Heavenly Empress is used, it indicates blood dryness for women and kidney deficiency for men, and the illness will not subside quickly. When asking about travel, traveling by land is not beneficial, and traveling by water is not auspicious. When asking about a missing person, the Tiangang is placed on the fourth quarter position, so the person is still on the way. When asking about military affairs, the wealth in the three transmissions generates official ghosts, and there is no obvious advantage. When asking about burial grounds, the water method is very harmonious, the mountain is high, and the dragon comes from the directions of Geng, You, and Xin, so the person can become wealthy and noble.

The "Bifa Fu" says: When two noblemen are both afflicted, it is difficult to seek help from noblemen; when both person and dwelling are subject to death qi, both are in a state of extreme decline; when triple harmony and liuhe are both present, all matters bring joy; but when harmony is present yetInauspicious Sha are involved, it is like sweet honey mixed with arsenic. The "Ke Jing" says: When Zi is placed over Shen, it is called "Tai Zuo Changsheng," most suitable for predicting pregnancy, but not favorable for predicting childbirth. The "Zhipang Fu" says: The three transmissions of You, Chou, and Si are called "Xian Ren," and both near and far will be harmed by it. The "Yunxiao Fu" says: Seeing a woman with a scar on her face indicates a red snake has entered the golden gate (i.e., Si over You); seeing a beautiful woman who cannot speak indicates a white pheasant has flown into the Xun gate (i.e., You over Si).

On the Bingshen day, the tenth layout: the stem is on the Shen.

This divination lesson has the "Lesson Pattern" of "Re-examination," combined with the "Original Fetus," "Incompleteness," and "Stepson" patterns. The meaning of the lesson indicates that although the three auspicious deities—longevity, wealth god, and nobleman—are all present, they are not beneficial by night when the lesson is cast. However, the three transmissions form a continuous cycle, returning finally to the day stem, thus presenting another aspect of widespread praise and continuous commendation.

In the daytime divination, the wood of寅 is the long life of the day stem丙, the water of亥 is the nobleman for丙, and the metal of申 is the wealth god for丙. However, when divining at night, the first transmission is sandwiched between two Teng Snakes and thus attacks it, the middle transmission is the official ghost that attacks丙, and the final transmission is occupied by the White Tiger and the hidden water of壬 that attacks the day stem. Thus, good things turn into bad ones. Looking at the sequence of the three transmissions: the first transmission generates the middle transmission, the middle transmission generates the final transmission, and the final transmission turns back to generate the day stem. The classic text says, "If the three transmissions mutually generate, it indicates that someone will recommend a person," which exactly refers to this pattern. How could the momentum of unanimous praise ever cease?

The divination indicates that the lesson of re-examination carries an unfavorable situation, and the pattern of original birth conceals hidden implications. The metal of Shen is placed on the fire of Si, forming Liu He, which signifies the meeting of the day stem and day branch. This is favorable for joint endeavors and achieving success together. However, the day stem overcomes the day branch, and although Shen metal is the god of wealth, the spirit on the day branch is the official ghost, which means gaining wealth in danger. Moreover, the three transmissions mutually generating is a good omen, but by night it turns into ainauspicious sign, which is exactly what is called joy turning into worry.

Inquiring about the weather,亥 water is the mother of all waters, approaching the day and initiating the transmission, with Tiangang pointing to the yin position, indicating rain; but all three transmissions come to support the day stem, so it will soon turn clear. Inquiring about the household, the day branch is added to the day stem and is overcome by the day stem, and the upper god is riding on a leaking god, indicating that there is certainly no proper main house to live in. Inquiring about official rank, the class is very auspicious. Inquiring about wealth, during the day, it is suitable to take wealth from the nobleman; during the night, it is suitable to take wealth from women and concubines. Inquiring about marriage, the wife's side is in harmony with the husband's side, indicating a certain outcome. Inquiring about childbirth, the lower god is strong and the upper god is weak, with two yang gods enclosing one yin god, indicating a female fetus; however, since申 and亥 are harmful, there will be injury during childbirth. Inquiring about illness, it indicates headache or illness of the heart meridian; during the day, it is easy to recover, but during the night, it is difficult to recover. Inquiring about travel, traveling by land is very smooth, but traveling by water is slightly less so. Inquiring about a missing person, Tiangang is added to the position of the four seasons, indicating that the person who has left will arrive immediately. Inquiring about warfare, during the day, the class is auspicious.

The "Bifa Fu" says: If the official ghost rides upon the heavenly stem nobleman, the response indicates divine spirits causing trouble (referring to daytime divination); if the white tiger rides upon the fleeing official ghost, calamity will be severe; mutual suspicion arises because the harmful deities accompany the course throughout. Here is an old case: A person born in the year of Yihai used the辰 general and cast a divination at the hour of Chou to inquire about his future. The diviner said: This lesson is called "赘婿" (a son-in-law without a home). This person will certainly not have his own proper dwelling, or will have to live in his wife's family; the three transmissions include the Teng Snake and the White Tiger, indicating many family deaths; the寅 wood originally represents the official office, but is disturbed by the Teng Snake and the White Tiger, so his official position will only be that of a minor clerk. Later, he suffered four deaths of his parents, and his official position only reached the level of the magistrate of Jiangyin.

On the Bingshen day, the eleventh section: the stem is on the hexagram of Wei.

This lesson's "Lesson Pattern" is "Re-examination." The Tiangang (Chen) combined with the day stem initiates the transmission as "Cutting the Gate." The three transmissions, Zi, Yin, and Chen, are connected by intervals, forming "Intermediate Transmission." The sequence Zi-Yin-Chen moves toward the yang, known as "Three Yang," symbolizing brightness. The lesson's meaning states that the water official ghost, which overcomes Bing, is stationed on the Wei earth storage, beckoning the patient. At night, the middle transmission's Yin wood escapes with Ren water and is accompanied by the White Tiger, so do not rely on this Yin wood as a savior.

The water of Zi is the official ghost of the fire of Bing. The earth of Xu is the storage of the fire of Bing, while the metal of Shen is the sickly place of the fire of Bing. Now the water of Zi is placed upon the earth of Xu, and also adjacent to the metal of Shen, resembling a ghost sitting on a tomb, beckoning the sick person. The wood of Yin, which is the growth of the fire of Bing, seems to be a support, but it has actually hidden away from the current ten-day cycle into the water of Ren. In the night divination, it is also accompanied by the White Tiger, which turns around to harm the day stem. How can such a thing still be relied upon as a savior deity?

The interpretation says: This is a lesson of three yangs, favorable for matters concerning official households; however, since the transmission is passed through an intervening position, there will inevitably be some obstruction. The lower deity is in harmony but the upper deity is in conflict, which still leaves some shortcomings. The final transmission, which is the earth element of Chen, falls into the empty period of the ten days, and thus cannot control the official ghost. Fortunately, the earth element of Wei on the day stem can resist the water element of Zi, and the wood element of Yin, which is occupied by the White Tiger at night and the Vermilion Bird during the day, can also exert restraint. In conclusion, it is only suitable to remain seated and maintain the current situation, and one must avoid taking any hasty actions to pursue affairs.

Inquiring about the weather, the Tiangang points to the yang position, and the water deity is trapped by the storage, so it is feared that rain will not come. Inquiring about the household, the mansion is covered by the storage deity, indicating a state of confusion and disorder. Inquiring about official rank, the official element initiates the transmission, and starting the divination at night is favorable. Inquiring about wealth, it is advisable to take money from the nobleman's hand. Inquiring about marriage, the day stem and day branch are in conflict, and the yin deity mutually destroys each other, which is unfavorable. Inquiring about childbirth, the lower deity is strong while the upper deity is weak, indicating a female fetus. Inquiring about illness, starting the divination at night indicates illness in the spleen earth, while starting during the day indicates depletion of the kidney water; this is even more unfavorable in the second lunar month. Inquiring about travel, traveling by land should beware of loss, and traveling by water is even more dangerous. Inquiring about a missing person, the Tiangang is added to the four young positions, meaning the person has not yet started moving. Inquiring about warfare, starting the divination during the day is unfavorable, and starting at night is even worse. Inquiring about graves, the Azure Dragon falls into an empty and trapped position, unable to bring long-lasting blessings.

The "Bi Fa Fu" says: When the White Tiger rides on the fleeing official ghost, calamity and misfortune will not be slight; when Tiangang blocks the ghost gate, evil spirits cannot escape, and no matter how you plan, it will all go smoothly. The "Zhi Zhang Fu" says: When the three transmissions of Zi, Yin, and Chen move towards the Yang position, it is called the Three Yang, and whatever you hope for will be bright and attainable. The "San Cai Fu" says: Where Hekui and Tiangang are present, there are often lawsuits; when Shen and Wu intersect, there are often doubts and indecision. It also says: When the Heavenly Horse and the Post-horse both enter the enclosure, the outcome of the matter will be verified very quickly. The "Ren Mei Jing" says: When the final transmission overcomes the initial transmission, it indicates that my side is strong; when the initial transmission overcomes the final transmission, it indicates that my side is weak.

On the Bingshen day, the twelfth section: dryness in the morning.

This lesson's "Lesson Pattern" is "Remote Conquest" under the category "Projectile." The day stem remotely conquers the god in the lesson, like a projectile being shot out. The three transmissions are connected by the earthly branches酉, 戌, and 亥, forming "Connected Mushrooms." The meaning of the lesson indicates that both the day stem and day branch have strong energies, but once they move, they become entangled in heaven and earth nets and suffer from Yangren injuries. Although there are many noblemen, they become without support. Moreover, the three transmissions exactly correspond to the three places of death, tomb, and extinction for the fire element 丙.

The fire of the hour Wu is the strong position of the day stem Bing, and it is placed on top of the day stem; the metal of the hour You is the strong position of the day branch Shen, and it is placed above both the day stem and day branch. This shows that both the person and the house are very prosperous. However, once things are set in motion, they turn into heaven net and earth net along with Yangren to harm the body, so it is only suitable to maintain the existing situation. A nobleman is not necessarily better when there are more of them; having too many leads to multiple authorities and things not being unified, making one lose support. Now, the fire Bing dies in You, is buried in Xu, and reaches its end in Hai, and these three positions of death, burial, and end are exactly arranged in the three transmissions. How can a person suffering from illness endure such a sequence?

The interpretation says: This divination indicates that the arrow is shot with metal, like a projectile loaded with a sharp point, with considerable force. The three transmissions proceed in a continuous sequence, advancing all the way to the three most阴 (dark) places, You, Xu, and Hai, suggesting receiving protection from afar and benefiting from blessings in secrecy. However, since all three transmissions are in the realm of death and desolation, one should not pursue further gains ahead, nor act recklessly behind. The only secure course is to repair past broken and deficient affairs, restoring them to their original state.

When asking about the weather, the mansion of Net (毕宿) initiates the transmission, the Azure Dragon rises to the sky, and Tiangang points to the yin position, indicating rain. When asking about the household, during the night the divination shows the Nobleman is present above the house, bringing great fortune and joy in wealth. When asking about official rank, there are too many Noblemen, so it is auspicious only if they support and protect each other. When asking about seeking wealth, it indicates receiving money through documents and the Nobleman's path. When asking about marriage, both parties are in strong condition, which is favorable. When asking about pregnancy, it is a male fetus, and both mother and child are healthy. When asking about illness, it indicates illness affecting the heart or symptoms of coughing and exhaustion. When asking about travel, traveling by land is favorable, and traveling by water is also acceptable. When asking about a person on the way, Tiangang is placed on the four middle positions, meaning the person is still halfway. When asking about military affairs, our side can defeat the enemy, and it is favorable in spring and summer.

The "Bifa Fu" says: When planning matters, most efforts are clumsy because one has encountered a net; the host and guest are not in harmony because the god of mutual punishment is above; if both sides are strong in destiny and energy, it is most suitable to sit and plan calmly. The "Ke Jing" says: If the day stem and day branch are occupied by Wu and You, they are self-punishing, called "Si Sheng Sha," indicating both sides striving to show their abilities, with everyone wanting to claim merit and display talent. It also says: Officials who have the heavenly net in their divination will mainly suffer the loss of their father; those with the earthly net will mainly suffer the loss of their mother. The "Liu Ren Zuan Yao" says: On Bing day and Ding day, if Chou is added to Zi, it is called "Fu Tai Ge," indicating that the person is asking about the wife's pregnancy; if the Chou earth is in an empty or hidden position, then in divination about childbirth, the birth will be quick, but in divination about pregnancy, there will be a miscarriage. The "Zhao Chan Mi Jie" says: If the Azure Dragon enters the heavenly net, the person is asking about the father's affairs.

The "Lesson Pattern" is the name of the overall structure of a divination session. This particular case has three names: the Heaven Plate and Earth Plate each occupy their respective positions, and the twelve spirits remain unmoved, which is called "Hidden Chant"; the heavenly stems and earthly branches are mutually restrained, and it is only suitable for self-discipline and self-cultivation, which is called "Self-Improvement"; the "Three Transmissions" (the first, middle, and final transmissions, representing three levels of reasoning) are blocked and unable to proceed, leading to matters being abandoned halfway, which is called "Blocked Transmission." The four-character "Lesson Meaning" serves as the summary of the overall judgment: the酉 (You) metal is both the wealth element for the丁 (Ding) day and is located at the position of the Nobleman, so it is said that this wealth is in the Nobleman's hand; the酉 (You) is occupied by the Ding spirit within the ten-day cycle, indicating that this wealth comes from a distant place; the middle and final transmissions both belong to earth, and earth generates metal, thus the wealth receives an additional support; however, the house is afflicted by self-punishment, meaning that family members associated with the yin are likely to suffer misfortune.

The metal of the酉 branch is the god that the day's丁 element controls, making it the wealth hexagram of the day. It also holds the heavenly general of Tian Yi, so it is considered the wealth supported by the nobleman. The酉 branch is also covered by the丁 god in the ten-day cycle, and the丁 element signifies movement, so the wealth comes from a distant place. The middle and final transmissions both belong to the earth element, which generates metal, thus continuously strengthening the酉 wealth. The wealth is therefore extremely prosperous. However, although the wealth is abundant, the day's branch is controlled by the丁 element, and the酉 added to the酉 forms self-punishment, which exactly falls on the day's branch representing the residence. If this is divined during the day, the酉 branch covered by Tai Yin (one of the twelve heavenly generals, governing private matters and women) indicates that the family's women and children are likely to suffer from illness and misfortune.

Hidden Chant is also called Du Transmission. In any matter, if it reaches the middle stage, it will necessarily come to a halt, and another path must be taken in order to proceed. 'Initiating Transmission' refers to the First Transmission, which in this case is the Ding God. Ding God initiates movement, falling on the wife's wealth position, indicating that both wife and wealth will change. This is also a sign that when stillness reaches its extreme, movement is inevitable. The three transmissions proceed from the day branch to the day stem, indicating that the other party is actively seeking me, and I do not need to seek others. If the subject's birth stem or current year position happens to be on You, and the divination is done in the daytime concerning an examination, he will certainly achieve a high rank.

Divination for weather: The four lessons (day stem, day branch, and their hidden spirits, making four groups of divine elements) and the three transmissions are all hidden spirits, indicating heavy clouds covering the sun and the sky not clearing. Divination for the household: The energy of the day stem is outwardly released and then benefits the day branch, indicating the house is strong but the people are weak, particularly不利 to women in the household. Divination for official rank: The nobleman is blocked, making the official path difficult to advance. Divination for seeking wealth: Wealth comes to me naturally, and can be obtained without effort. Divination for marriage: The middle and final transmissions are detached from the day stem and benefit the day branch, which is favorable for the woman and unfavorable for the man. Divination for pregnancy: The lesson and transmission have no yang energy, indicating the fetus is female; also, the transmission of Du blocks the way, possibly delaying childbirth. Divination for illness: Mostly coughing and weakness, or symptoms of qi deficiency and collapse, but overall there is no major danger. Divination for travel: The heavenly stem and earthly branch are all filled with Ding spirits, showing a dynamic and active situation. Divination for a missing person: A person nearby will arrive immediately. Divination for warfare: Hidden chant combined with Du transmission, making military affairs not smooth. Divination for graves: The dragon comes from the direction of Ding, which is favorable.

The "Bifa Fu" says, "If the heavenly horse or post-horse appears, one must consider movement rather than stillness; if the other party seeks something from me, the three transmissions flow from the day branch to the day stem." The "Ke Jing" explains that self-reliant and self-confident divination charts should not be universally interpreted as inactive; if the three transmissions or the heavenly stems and earthly branches contain the heavenly god Ding or the heavenly horse or post-horse within the ten-day cycle, it indicates a transition from stillness to action. The "Yucheng Ge" states that under a hidden chant chart, forced movement leads to unfulfilled wishes. The "Lunin Jue" mentions that if the day stem's wealth hexagram falls into the day branch, it signifies external wealth entering the door, indicating good fortune in gaining wealth.

The divination pattern is called "Remote Control" — in the four lessons, there is no direct mutual control between upper and lower elements, so only the god that remotely controls and attacks can be taken as the initiating transmission. "Remote Control" is also called "Projectile Shot" because it is like a projectile shooting an object. The three transmissions follow the sequence of Shen, Wei, and Wu in order, like a vine and its root being pulled out together, hence also called "Connected Roots." The meaning of the divination says: the three transmissions proceed from the day branch to the day stem, with the beginning and end enclosing the hexagram of Ding in the hexagram of Wei. This is like being confined within a pattern and a model. However, during the day, when the day is Ding, the official of luck, Wu fire, is occupied by the White Tiger (one of the twelve heavenly generals, which presides over misfortune, death, punishment, and injury), and the official of luck and the White Tiger are together, remaining loyal to this luck will only bring injury, and the situation is very tragic.

The deity on the day branch serves as the first transmission, and the deity on the day stem serves as the final transmission. The three transmissions proceed from the branch to the stem. The day branch is the metal of Shen, and the day stem is the fire of Wu. These two extremes enclose the hexagram of Wei, which is the dwelling place of the stem Ding. This is like a model that cannot be exceeded. The official of fortune for the day of Ding is located at Wu, and Wu is on top of the day stem, which is naturally a strong and prosperous position. However, when the divination is done in the daytime, the Wu position is occupied by the White Tiger. The official of fortune and the White Tiger share the same position, so the fortune cannot be retained. If one abandons the fortune and moves forward to the first transmission, which is the metal of Shen, although Shen is wealth, it is occupied by the Yuanwu (one of the twelve heavenly generals, associated with theft and darkness). Therefore, the wealth is immediately stolen. The middle transmission is the earth of Wei, which drains the energy of the day stem. There is no way to advance or retreat, so one must return to defend the fortune at Wu, which is occupied by the White Tiger, and thus suffers injury from the White Tiger. The situation is inevitably pitiful and unbearable. Only when the divination is done at night, when the heavenly generals change, is this not applicable.

The wealth obtained through the remote reference in the shooting lesson is supported by the three transmissions, where Shen generates Wei, and Wei generates Wu, with each generation supporting the next, ensuring a great gain in wealth. The fire in the day stem also returns to generate the wealth hexagram in the day branch, making it most suitable to acquire land and property. Both the person and the dwelling are flourishing, indicating that both parties will benefit.

Divination on weather: The first transmission is the metal of Shen, which is the source of water, called the mother of water. The initiating transmission indicates rain, but the Tiangang (a different name for Chen, the pointer of the Big Dipper) points to a yin position, and the middle and final transmissions are earth and fire, so the rain will not last long. Divination on the house: Both people and the house are in a strong position, suitable for family and home. Divination on official rank: Although the strong official position is present, it is not advisable to act rashly; moreover, the official position is accompanied by the White Tiger, which brings misfortune. Divination on seeking wealth: The wealth energy is extremely strong, and wealth will come without seeking, but it is accompanied by the Black Tortoise, so loss is inevitable. Divination on marriage: Both men and women are in a strong position, and both families are prosperous. Divination on pregnancy and childbirth: The White Tiger indicates speed, so childbirth will be quick, and the fetus is likely female. Divination on illness: The illness is in the lung meridian or related to the lips and teeth; it is an indication of the person overcoming the illness, so treatment can lead to recovery. Divination on travel: Liu He is excessive, causing delays and hindrances. Divination on a missing person: The Tiangang is on the four young positions of寅,申,巳,亥, so the missing person has not yet started moving. Divination on warfare: It indicates worry and alarm, and also loss of belongings.

The "Bifa Fu" says, "When the heavenly stem and earthly branch are mutually prosperous, it is best to remain seated and wait for the right time; if the three transmissions flow from the branch to the stem, it indicates that the other party will seek me out." When both the day stem and day branch are occupied by prosperous spirits, it is only suitable to remain still and wait, and it is not advisable to take the initiative in seeking opportunities. If one acts recklessly, the prosperity will turn into a trap and the yangren, leading to misfortune. The "Zhipang Fu" refers to the combination of Shen, Wei, and Wu in the three transmissions as "Ling Yin," which signifies taking risks and relying onby chance, turning a peaceful situation into danger and a dangerous situation into safety. The "Yuan Zuan Yi" states that when Shen and You are combined, it is called "An Po," meaning hidden damage, and the affairs one seeks to accomplish will be difficult to achieve.
