The eight stars of Daling are located to the north of the Stomach mansion, and they originally govern death and accumulated corpses, so the divination statements all relate to tombs and national mourning.

《玉曆》曰：“流星入天船，天下大水，舟船用，若津道不通，有急事。”

The Yulu says: A falling star entering the Tianchuan star official indicates that a great flood will occur throughout the land, and boats will be needed; or the waterways for crossing will be blocked, and the court will have urgent matters to attend to. The Tianchuan star group consists of nine stars arranged horizontally to the north of Daling and within the Milky Way. It is naturally in charge of waterways, boats, and ferry crossings. Therefore, when a falling star enters this area, the verification of the prophecy will be reflected in water disasters and maritime transportation.

甘氏曰：“流星入捲舌，有讒言亂主者；若有口舌於君，倖臣有憂。”

The Gan school's Star Classic says: if a shooting star enters the 'Rolling Tongue' constellation, there will be someone in court who spreads slander and deceives the sovereign; or someone who creates discord before the sovereign and falsely accuses others, causing the favored minister to suffer misfortune. The Rolling Tongue consists of six stars located north of the Hairy Head mansion. Its shape resembles a curled tongue, and it is naturally associated with speech and slander, so the divination text specifically warns of calamities caused by slander.

《黃帝占》曰：“流星入五車，天下兵，車騎發，先起者昌；若抵之，其所主五穀貴；期二年，遠三年。”郗萌曰：“流星入五車；以甲子日中粟車，期三十日，粟貴；丙午日中麥車；期二十日，麥貴；戊寅日中豆車；期二十七日，豆貴；庚申日中蕢車；期二十日，蕢貴；壬戍日中黍車；期十日，黍貴；以月所見流星之處，則縣邑之市為貴矣。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: If a shooting star enters the 'Wuxia' constellation, there will be warfare in the world, with armies and cavalry mobilizing, and the one who initiates the attack will flourish. If the shooting star directly strikes Wuxia, the grain it governs will rise in price, with the effect manifesting within two years or three years depending on the proximity. Xi Meng says: When a shooting star enters Wuxia, one should consider the day branch and which particular carriage is struck. If on a Jiazi day the shooting star strikes the carriage governing millet, millet prices will soar within thirty days. If on a Bingwu day it strikes the carriage governing wheat, wheat prices will soar within twenty days. If on a Wuyin day it strikes the carriage governing beans, bean prices will soar within twenty-seven days. If on a Gengshen day it strikes the carriage governing hemp, hemp prices will soar within twenty days. If on a Renxu day it strikes the carriage governing millet, millet prices will soar within ten days. Furthermore, one should consider the direction from which the shooting star appears in the month, and the markets in that region will see rising grain prices. The five stars of Wuxia are the carriages of the Five Emperors, each governing a type of grain, and also overseeing military vehicles and treasuries. Therefore, the divination includes both military affairs and grain prices.

石氏曰：“流星出五車，色白，諸侯以兵憂；色黃，受賀；色赤，寇兵車騎滿野；青黑，多死者，各以其日占。”

The Shi school's Star Classic says: If a shooting star comes from the Five Vehicles and is white, the princes will worry about military affairs; if it is yellow, there will be joyous news to be celebrated; if it is red, there will be bandits and troops filling the plains; if it is dark blue or black, many people will die. As for which state and which direction it will affect, one should determine it according to the Day Branch of the day the shooting star appears.

石氏曰：“流星入抵天關，天下有急兵，關道不通，若多盜賊，人民憂，期百八十日，遠一年。”

The Shi school's Star Classic says: If a shooting star flies into and collides with the Tian Guan star, there will be urgent military news throughout the land, with blockades and blockages on the passes and roads; or bandits will emerge everywhere, causing the people to be in great distress. This omen will be fulfilled within a period of one hundred and eighty days or within a year. The Tian Guan star lies to the south of Wuxing and to the east of Bi Su, and it governs the opening and closing of passes and border posts. Therefore, when a shooting star collides with it, the omen refers specifically to matters concerning the passes and roads.

巫咸曰：“流星犯南河，蠻兵起，防戍有憂；一曰流星入南河，為旱，邊兵。”《宋天文志》曰：“宋武大明八年四月，有流星大如五斗甌；赤色有光照面，尾長一丈餘，從參北出，東行，直下經東進，過南河沒。占曰：‘民飢，吳越有兵。’明年，四方賊起，王師水陸位伐義興吳陵，大戰，殺傷千計。”

Wu Xian said: A shooting star invading the Southern River indicates that the southern barbarians will rise in rebellion, and the soldiers defending the borders will suffer calamities; another interpretation is that a shooting star entering the Southern River signifies drought and military campaigns on the borders. The Three Stars of the Southern River and the Northern River enclose the Well Mansion, forming the gate and defense of the south. The "Book of the Later Han: Records of Astronomy" records that in the eighth year of Emperor Xiaowu of the Liu Song Dynasty in the fourth month, a shooting star appeared as large as a five-dou jar, red in color, bright enough to be seen on human faces, with a tail more than ten chi long, shooting out from the north of the Three Stars, flying eastward, and passing low over the East, crossing the Southern River and disappearing. The divination at that time said: "The people will suffer from famine, and there will be military affairs in Wu and Yue." The following year, bandits rose up all over the country, and the imperial army advanced by both water and land to suppress Yixing and Wuling, engaging in a major battle that resulted in thousands of casualties.

巫咸曰：“流星入北河，胡兵起，來入中國，若關梁不通；一曰流星入北河，為水；為飢；皆期二年。”《黃帝》曰：“流星絕兩河間，天下大難，路不通。”石氏曰：“南河北河，有流星絕兩河戍間，有客抵之，天下大亂，親戚不恤。”

Wu Xian said: A falling star entering the Northern River portentates that the Hu people's troops will rise up, invading the Central Plains, or that the passes and bridges will be blocked and cut off. Another interpretation is that a falling star entering the Northern River signifies water disaster and famine, both of which will be fulfilled within two years. The three stars of the Northern River are the northern gate, and together with the Southern River, they serve as the guards on both sides of the Well Mansion. Therefore, the divination refers to the Hu troops and the passes and bridges. The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: A falling star crossing between the Southern River and the Northern River indicates great calamity in the world and the disruption of roads. The Shi School Star Classic says: If a falling star crosses between the Southern River and the Northern River groups of guard stars, and there is also a guest star colliding with it, the world will be in great chaos, and even close relatives will no longer look after each other.

石氏曰：“流星出五諸侯，有大喪，以星所入日占其國。”《玉曆》曰：“流星入五諸侯，輔臣有憂，若有黜者；一曰諸侯兵有謀主，期不出年。”石氏曰：“赤流星出，諸侯有叛者；其中星散絕，諸侯坐其殃咎。”

The Shi school's Star Classic says: A shooting star emerging from the "Five Ministers" asterism indicates a great calamity on earth. To determine which state it will affect, one should refer to the Day Branch on the day the shooting star enters a mansion. The Five Ministers, consisting of five stars, are located north of the Well mansion, and they are responsible for assisting the Son of Heaven in resolving doubts and pointing out mistakes. They also symbolize the feudal lords and the ministers assisting in governance. The Jade Calendar says: If a shooting star flies into the Five Ministers, there will be worries for the ministers assisting in governance, or someone may be dismissed from office. Another interpretation is that there are conspiracies within the armies of the feudal lords against the sovereign, and this will be fulfilled within a year. The Shi school's Star Classic also says: If a red shooting star shoots out from among them, there will be rebels among the feudal lords. If the stars of the Five Ministers are scattered and broken, the feudal lords will bear the blame for this calamity.

甘氏曰：“流星入抵積水，有大水，舟船用，民大飢。”

The Gan school's Star Classic says: When a shooting star flies into and collides with the star called 'Accumulated Water,' there will be great flooding on earth, boats will be needed, and the people will suffer from severe famine due to the water disaster. The star Accumulated Water is located in the southeast of the Five Vehicles. It originally governs water storage and the brewing of wine and liquor. Therefore, when a shooting star strikes it, the omen indicates flooding and the famine caused by the flood.

《聖洽符》曰：“流星抵積薪，天下以薪蒿為憂，若廚官有罪者。”

The Shengqia Fu says: If a shooting star collides with the "Jixin" star, the world will worry about the scarcity of firewood and straw; or the kitchen official will be punished for some wrongdoing. The Jixin star is located east of the water accumulation, indicating the gathering of firewood to supply the kitchen. Therefore, the divination text refers to firewood and the kitchen official.

齊伯曰；“流星入水位，天下有水，河海溢流，五穀不成，流民大飢，期三年。”

Qi Bo said: A falling star flew into the four stars of the Water Mansion, indicating that there will be water disaster throughout the world, with rivers and seas overflowing and spilling over, crops unable to mature, people wandering and displaced, suffering from great famine, and this will come to pass within three years. The four stars of the Water Mansion are located east of the Well Mansion, governing water and river officials, and are responsible for monitoring water and drought in a particular region.

《甄曜度》曰：“流星入軒轅，后妃有亂，女主有逆謀，天子宜防之，期三年。”郗萌曰：“流星散入軒轅間，女主宮多讒亂。”《荊州占》曰：“流星大如瓷，出東陵西下，必有積血。”

The book Zhenshao Du says: When a shooting star flies into the constellation Xuan Yuan, there will be disturbances among the concubines, and the female ruler will secretly plot rebellion. The emperor should be on guard, and this will come true within three years. The constellation Xuan Yuan consists of seventeen stars shaped like a soaring dragon, symbolizing the concubines and female relatives of the royal family. Xi Meng says: When scattered shooting stars fly into the various stars of Xuan Yuan, there will be much slander and internal strife within the palace of the female ruler. The book Jingzhou Zhan says: When a shooting star is as big as a ceramic vessel, shooting out from the eastern tomb and falling westward with a low trajectory, there will certainly be violent killings resulting in pools of blood.

郗萌曰：“流星入抵少微，賢良集，道術出；一曰能人多來者。”

Xi Meng said: A shooting star flies into and collides with the 'Shao Wei' constellation, indicating that virtuous and capable men will gather at the court, and those who possess skills and knowledge will also come forward to serve; another interpretation is that capable people will come to submit themselves. The four stars of Shao Wei are located west of Tai Wei Yuan, governing recluses and virtuous men who have not yet taken office. Therefore, when a shooting star affects this constellation, it should be interpreted as an omen of good things concerning the selection and appointment of capable persons.

《黃帝占》曰：“奔星入太微中，其國有亂。”《海中占》曰：“流星入太微，有兵起，外國當以兵至，及有使來者，不出其年。”郗萌曰：“使星入天官，留十日，有叛者。”《荊州占》曰：“奔星入太微宮內，有亂近西相也，近東將也。”石氏曰：“奔星入太微天庭，避之，吉；不避者，危死；所謂避者，從左來，避之右；右來，避之左。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: If a rushing star flies into the Taimei Enclosure, that country will have calamity and disorder. The Taimei Enclosure is the heavenly court, with its walls formed by the stars Left Judge, Right Judge, Upper Minister, and Upper General, so it is also called the Heavenly Court. The Sea of Stars Divination says: If a meteor flies into Taimei, there will be military affairs arising, with foreign armies coming to attack, or possibly foreign envoys arriving, and this will be fulfilled within the year. Xi Meng says: If the planet star flies into the official position of the Heavenly Court and stays for ten days, there will be rebels. The Jingzhou Divination says: If a rushing star flies into the Taimei Palace, it indicates change and disorder. If it is close to the west, the calamity will fall upon the chancellor; if it is close to the east, it will fall upon the general. The Shi School Star Classic says: If a rushing star shoots into the Heavenly Court, those who can avoid it will have good fortune, but those who cannot avoid it will face danger and possible death. The term 'avoid' refers to if the star comes from the left, one should move to the right; if it comes from the right, one should move to the left.

《黃帝》曰：“流星出太微東門，大兵起，大臣為亂，貴人多死者；若有謀，近期一年，中二年，遠三年。流星出太微，大臣有外事，以所之野命其方。”石氏曰：“奔星出太微中，有立王，若從王。流星出太微南門，其眾貴臣有死者。”《海中占》曰：“流星出太微端門，天子之使出；各以所之野命其國，期不出年。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: A shooting star emerging from the eastern gate of the Taiwei Enclosure indicates great warfare, ministers rebelling, and many deaths among the nobles; if someone is plotting against the state, the event will occur within one year, two years, or three years depending on the proximity. A shooting star emerging from Taiwei indicates ministers being sent on official missions abroad, and the direction of the star's flight determines which region it affects. The Shi School's Star Classic says: A rushing star emerging from Taiwei signifies the enthronement of a new king or the submission of people to a new ruler. A shooting star emerging from the southern gate of Taiwei indicates that many noble officials in that region will die. The Sea Divination says: A shooting star emerging from the main gate of Taiwei signifies the emperor sending envoys on a mission; according to the direction the star flies, it determines which country it affects, and the event will occur within one year.

《荊州占》曰：“流星出太微天庭之門者，天子使也；以所之野命其東西南北；星來者，使復命。奔星出太微，中國失君。”《玉曆》曰：“流星出太微天庭，天下兵起，將士大出，王者有憂；期三年，災必應。”石氏曰：“流星出太微天庭，大將出。”

The Jingzhou Divination says: A shooting star emerging from the Taiwei celestial palace signifies the departure of the emperor's envoy; according to the direction of the star's movement, one can determine whether the envoy is heading east, west, south, or north; if the shooting star flies toward the Taiwei celestial palace, it signifies the envoy returning to court. A rushing star emerging from the Taiwei indicates the loss of the king in the Central Plains. The Yu Li says: A shooting star emerging from the Taiwei celestial palace signifies warfare across the land, with large numbers of soldiers going to war, the king facing troubles, and calamity surely occurring within three years. The Shi school Star Classic says: A shooting star emerging from the Taiwei celestial palace indicates a general receiving orders to go to war.

《荊州占》曰：“流星大而赤，數出入天宮庭，如浮船伏，有賊臣在傍，人主備，不可出遊。”《荊州占》曰：“流星縱橫經行太微中，主弱臣強，四夷不制，期三月。”石氏曰：“流星犯抵左右執法，東相西將，各以所犯，皆當誅；以其入日命其國，皆不出三年。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: If a meteor is large and red, appearing repeatedly in the sky, and its shape resembles a floating boat on the water surface, this is a sign of a treacherous minister secretly lurking near the sovereign. The sovereign should be highly cautious and must not go out for tours. The *Jingzhou Divination* also says: If meteors cross each other in the Taimei Enclosure, it indicates the ruler is weak and the ministers are strong, with the four directions of the barbarians out of control. This will come true within three months. The *Shi School Star Classic* says: If a meteor invades and collides with the Left Judge and Right Judge stars, the east side signifies the chancellor, and the west side signifies the general. Depending on which star is invaded, that official will be executed. According to the day branch on the day the meteor enters the enclosure, it can be determined which country it will affect, and this will come true within three years.

石氏曰：“流星入太微，犯黃帝座，大人易，其東西犯者皆死亡。”《黃帝》曰：“流星入太微，抵於帝座，天下亂，臣弒主，國易政，期不出三年。”

The Shi school's Star Classic says: A falling star enters the Taiwei Enclosure, invades the "Yellow Emperor's Seat," and the position of the ruler will be replaced. The ministers corresponding to the stars that are invaded from the east and west sides will all die. The Yellow Emperor's Seat is one star located at the center of the Taiwei Enclosure, representing the position of the Son of Heaven. The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: A falling star enters the Taiwei and directly reaches the Emperor's Seat, indicating chaos in the world, ministers killing the ruler, and a change of dynasty, which will come to pass within three years.

巫咸曰：“流星入太微，犯四帝座，輔臣有誅，執法者憂，貴人多死，期二年。”

Wu Xian said: A shooting star enters the Taimei Enclosure, invades the "Four Imperial Seats," and the prime ministerial ministers will be executed, the officials in charge of law and punishment will suffer anxiety, and many noblemen will die. This will come true within two years. The Four Imperial Seats are four stars arranged around the Yellow Emperor's Seat on all four sides, each presiding over one of the four emperors, corresponding to the ministers and officials in charge of law and punishment.

《玄冥占》曰：“流星抵屏星，尚書有憂，若有死者，期百八十日，遠一年。”

The Xuanming Divination says: A shooting star colliding with the "Ping Star" indicates that officials in charge of documents and government orders, the Shangshu officials, will face troubles, or someone among them may die. The effect will occur within 180 days if it is near, or within a year if it is far. The Ping Star is located within the Taimei Enclosure, serving as a barrier that shields the Imperial Seat, corresponding to the role of close attendants and confidential advisors.

巫咸曰：“流星入抵郎位，守衛之臣有誅；若左右為亂，若戮有死者，期一年，遠二年。”

Wu Xian said: A shooting star flying in and colliding with the 'Liang Wei' star official indicates that the officials on duty for guarding the palace will be executed; or that the ministers close to the king will rebel; or that someone will be killed. The effect will occur within one year or two years. The 'Liang Wei' fifteen stars are located to the northeast of the 'Tai Wei Yuan' 'Di Zuo', which is the position of the officials serving as palace guards and attendants.

齊伯曰：“流星抵郎將，則將有誅；若大臣為亂，王者戒慎左右，不出其年。”

Qi Bo said: A shooting star colliding with the "Liangjiang" star indicates that the general in charge of the palace guards will be executed. Alternatively, if a minister rebels, the king should be especially cautious and vigilant about his attendants; this will come to pass within the year. The star of Liangjiang is located north of the position of the palace guards, and it signifies military officers who command the imperial guards.

《甄曜度》曰：“流星入守常陳，衛人有罪者誅，人主憂，期百八十日，遠一年。”

The "Zhen Yaodu" states: If a shooting star flies into and remains in the "Chang Chen" star official, among the palace guards there will be soldiers who commit crimes and will be executed. The sovereign will be troubled by this. The effect will occur within a period of one hundred and eighty days or within a year. The "Chang Chen" star consists of seven stars located to the north of the imperial throne, forming a shape like the ceremonial guard of the Son of Heaven, governing the military guards.

《海中占》曰：“流星入上臺，司命大臣有罪，若有死；流星出之，近臣有出者，期二年。”《玄冥占》曰：“流星入中臺，司中奸臣來近主者；流星出中臺，奸臣有出者。”甘氏曰：“流星入下臺，司祿大臣有賜爵封者；流星出之，臣有罪出走，色黑死；皆期二年。”《黃帝》曰：“流星走三臺者，大將出。”《辯終備》曰：“奔星入三能，天下感，兵禍聚隅，感動也。”

The "Sea of Stars Divination" says: if a shooting star flies into the "Upper Star" (Upper Platform), it indicates that the minister in charge of destiny will be guilty of a crime, or someone will die; if a shooting star shoots out from the Upper Star, then a close court official will be transferred out of the capital, and this will come true within two years. The "Divination of the Abyss" says: if a shooting star flies into the "Middle Star" (Middle Platform), it indicates that a corrupt minister in charge of the middle is aligning himself with the sovereign; if a shooting star shoots out from the Middle Star, then a corrupt minister will be expelled. The "Gan School Star Classic" says: if a shooting star flies into the "Lower Star" (Lower Platform), it indicates that the minister in charge of official salaries will receive a title and reward; if a shooting星 shoots out from the Lower Star, then a minister will be guilty and flee, and if the star appears dark, it signifies death; all these will come true within two years. The Three Platforms consist of six stars, paired two by two, from top to bottom they are Upper Platform, Middle Platform, and Lower Platform, also called the Three Abilities, which respectively govern destiny, the middle, and official salaries. The "Yellow Emperor's Divination" says: if a shooting star rushes between the Three Platforms, it indicates that a general will lead an expedition. The "Complete Explanation of Endings" says: a rushing star flying into the Three Abilities causes great unrest throughout the realm, and military disasters gather in one area; "shaking" means unrest.

《文曜鉤》曰：“流星抵相星，大兵起，大將出，輔相有變。”

The Wenyao Gou says: A shooting star colliding with the "Xiang Star" indicates major warfare, with generals receiving orders to go to war and the position of the chancellor assisting in governance experiencing change. The Xiang Star is located south of the Big Dipper, governing the overall leadership of officials and assisting the king. Therefore, when a shooting star affects it, the consequence will be upon the chancellor.

巫咸曰：“流星抵太陽守，有兵起，將軍出，期三年。”

Wu Xian said: A shooting star collides with the Star of brightness and prestige, indicating that military actions will be launched, with generals leading troops to campaign, and this will be fulfilled within three years. The Star of brightness and prestige is located west of the ministerial star, signifying the duties of ministers and generals in defense. Therefore, the divination refers to military campaigns and warfare.

《黃帝占》曰：“流星入天牢，貴人有繫者，其多下獄；人民多有罪，期不出年。”《黃帝》曰：“常以丑未日，候流星入天牢者，有赦。”《荊州占》曰：“流星出紫宮，奔走入天牢，天子以赦解之。”《黃帝》曰：“天牢中有一使星出者，小赦；二星出，赦在關內；三星出，赦天下。”《荊州占》曰：“流星入貴人之天牢，太僕名臣有繫者；其色黃白，無故；青憂；黑凶；赤以金煞之日出赦，獄中繫者出。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: a falling star entering the Heavenly Prison star official indicates that among the nobles there are those who will be imprisoned, and mostly they will be put into jail; among the common people there are also many who will be punished, and this will come to pass within a year. The Heavenly Prison consists of six stars located beneath the handle of the Big Dipper, and it is the prison for the nobles. The Yellow Emperor's Divination also says: usually one waits on the day of the Ox and the Sheep, if a falling star enters the Heavenly Prison, it indicates that the court will issue an amnesty. The Jingzhou Divination says: if a falling star shoots out from the Purple Palace and rushes into the Heavenly Prison, the emperor will issue a great amnesty to dispel this celestial phenomenon. The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: if a star shoots out from the Heavenly Prison, it indicates a minor amnesty; if two stars shoot out, the amnesty is limited to the region within the pass; if three stars shoot out, it is a great amnesty for the whole country. The Jingzhou Divination says: if a falling star enters this Heavenly Prison which is the prison for the nobles, there will be someone among the officials of the Grand Steward who will be imprisoned; if the color of the falling star is yellow or white, there will be no incident; if it is green, there will be worry; if it is black, it is ominous; if it is red, the amnesty will be issued on the day of the Metal energy, and the prisoners in jail will be released.

《黃帝占》曰：“流星若奔星入文昌宮，其國有亂。”石氏曰：“流星入文昌，其國失政，宮庭有兵；若內亂，期二年。奔星出文昌，宮內亂。”《荊州占》曰：“奔星出文昌宮，國去其君；一曰國失君。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: If a shooting star or a rushing star enters the 'Star of Examinations and Documents' palace, that country will suffer calamity. The six stars of the Star of Examinations and Documents are arranged horizontally before the handle of the Big Dipper, representing the six ministries of the Son of Heaven, governing important military and civil positions such as generals and ministers. The Shi school's Star Classic says: If a shooting star enters the Star of Examinations and Documents, that country will have disorder in its government and fighting within the palace; it is either an external threat or internal rebellion, which will manifest within two years. A rushing star shooting out from the Star of Examinations and Documents indicates turmoil within the palace. The Jingzhou Divination says: If a rushing star shoots out from the Star of Examinations and Documents palace, the country will lose its ruler; another interpretation is that the country will have no ruler to rely on.

班固《天文志》曰：“孝成帝建始元年九月戊子，有流星出文昌，白色，光燭地，長可四丈，大一圍，動搖如龍蛇形，有頃，長可五六丈，四圍，所屈折委曲，貫索宮西北、斗西北、子亥間，後屈如環，北方不合，留一刻所。占曰：文昌為上將、貴相。是時，帝舅王鳳為大將軍，其後宣帝舅子王商為丞相，皆貴臣任政，鳳妒商譖而罷之，商自殺，屬親皆廢黜。”

Ban Gu's "Book of Han: Records of Astronomy" states: In the first year of Jianshi of Emperor Cheng of Han, in the ninth month on the fifth day of the Wuzi stem, there was a meteor that shot out from the Star of Examinations and Documents, white in color, bright enough to illuminate the ground, about four zhang long and one circumference thick, swaying and undulating like the shape of a dragon or a snake; after a while, it grew to be five or six zhang long and four circumferences thick, twisting and turning, passing through the northwest of the Palace of the Heavenly Chain, the northwest of the Big Dipper, and between the Zi and Hai positions, its end bending into a ring shape, but not fully closed on the north side, remaining for about a moment. The divination text of that time said: The Star of Examinations and Documents presages the sovereign and the high minister. At that time, Wang Feng, the maternal uncle of Emperor Cheng, held the position of Grand General, and later Wang Shang, the son of Wang Feng's brother, became the Chancellor, both being powerful ministers of the imperial family governing the court; Wang Feng resented Wang Shang, slandered him, and had him dismissed, Wang Shang committed suicide, and his relatives were all disgraced.

司馬彪《天文志》曰：“孝靈二年四月，有流星，出文昌，入紫宮，蛇行，有尾無目，赤色有光，炤垣牆；占曰：文昌主上將、貴相。後六年，司徒劉邵為中常侍曹節所譖，下獄死。”

In the second year of Emperor Ling of Han's reign, in the fourth month, a meteor came out from the Star of Examinations and Documents, flew into the Purple Palace, and moved like a snake, with a tail but no head or eyes, red in color with a luminous trail, lighting up the walls. The divination text of the time said: The Star of Examinations and Documents presages that the sovereign and a high minister will be involved. Six years later, the Minister of Works Liu Shao was slandered by the Attendant-in-Ordinary Cao Jie, was imprisoned, and died.

《黃帝占》曰：“大流星入北斗，天下亂，大發兵，將軍出；期六月，若一年。”（案司馬彪《天文志》曰：光武建武十年三月癸卯，流星如月，從太微出，入北斗魁第六星，色白，傍有小星射者千餘枚，滅則有聲如雷，食頃止。是時，光武帝使吳漢發卒三萬人擊蜀。成帝公孫述十二年二一月，護軍高午刺述洞胸，死。屠蜀城，滅述妻子宗族。孝靈光和元年四月癸丑，流星犯軒轅第二星，東北行入北斗魁中，至中平元年黃巾賊起，上遣中郎將皇甫蒿等征之，斬首千餘萬級。）

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: A large shooting star flying into the "Big Dipper" indicates that the world will be in chaos, the court will mobilize a large army, and generals will lead troops to campaign; the prophecy will be fulfilled within half a year or a year. The Seven Stars of the Big Dipper are the chariot of the heavenly emperor, residing in the center and governing the four directions. Therefore, when a shooting star approaches it, it directly relates to the stability or disorder of the world and the power of military command. The original commentary notes: According to Sima Biao's "Continued Book of Han: Records of the Celestial Phenomena," in the tenth year of Jianwu of Emperor Guangwu, on the third day of the third month, on the day of Guimao, there was a large shooting star as big as the moon, emerging from Taimei and flying into the sixth star of the Big Dipper's handle, white in color, with thousands of small stars bursting out beside it, and a thunder-like sound when it faded, lasting about the time of one meal. At that time, Emperor Guangwu sent Wu Han to mobilize three thousand soldiers to attack Shu. In the twelfth year of the Chengjia Emperor, Gongsun Shu, the emperor of Shu, was killed by a soldier named Gao Wu, who pierced his chest with one spear; Gongsun Shu died immediately, and the Han army destroyed the city of Shu, with Gongsun Shu's wife, children, and relatives all executed. In the first year of Guanghe of Emperor Ling, on the fourth day of the fourth month, on the day of Guichou, a shooting star invaded the second star of Xuan Yuan and flew northeast into the handle of the Big Dipper; by the first year of Zhongping, the Yellow Turban rebels rose up, and the emperor sent Zhonglang General Huangfu Song and others to suppress the rebellion, killing millions of rebels.

石氏曰：“流星入北斗魁中，失名人。流星夜有光，入北斗，大臣有繫者，以五色占之。”郗萌曰：“大流星色青，入北斗魁中，大臣有繫者，有憂也。大流星入北斗魁中失明者；繫者斬死。”

The Shi school's Star Classic says: If a shooting star flies into the handle of the Big Dipper, the country will lose a person of reputation. If a shooting star flies into the Big Dipper at night with a bright light, there will be officials who are imprisoned, and the fortune is determined by the five colors of the shooting star. Xi Meng says: A large shooting star of a blue color flying into the handle of the Big Dipper indicates that there will be officials imprisoned and suffering misfortune. If a large shooting star flies into the handle of the Big Dipper but its light disappears, the imprisoned person will be executed.

In the same year, in the eleventh month on the day of Gengzi, Dingling Marquis Chunyu Chang was arrested and imprisoned for his crimes and died. Xi Meng said: a rushing star flying into the Big Dipper indicates that the Central Plains should send envoys to the Xiongnu. Also according to Ban Gu's "Book of Han · Astronomical Records," in the fourth year of Yangshuo during Emperor Cheng's reign, on the day of Gengwu in the leap month, a flying star appeared as large as a jar, flying from the southwest direction to beneath the Big Dipper. The following year, in the first month of Hongjiayuan, the Xiongnu chanyu Limo Gaogao died. On the day of Jia Wu in May, the Han court sent Zhonglang General Yang Xing on a mission to pay respects at the funeral.

《荊州占》曰：“大流星入北斗魁中，大臣背叛，流星使星入北斗魁中，臣有繫者；星出，繫者出。大流星入北斗魁中，貴人囚；青黑、憂；赤黑、死；赤、兵死。”郗萌曰：“流星入應星中，天下有赦。”石氏曰：“流星出北斗，人主使人與諸侯；色黃白，有賀事；青黑、有憂事；赤，有兵；期二年。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: A large shooting star flying into the northern part of the Big Dipper indicates that a high-ranking official will betray the state; if the star is the guiding star entering the northern part of the Big Dipper, then there will be officials imprisoned, and if the star shoots out from the northern part of the Big Dipper, the imprisoned person will be released. A large shooting star flying into the northern part of the Big Dipper indicates that the nobleman will be imprisoned. If the star is dark blue, there will be worries; if it is dark red, there will be death; if it is purely red, death will result from military disaster. Xi Meng says: A shooting star flying into the position of the star of response indicates that the state will issue an amnesty. The *Shi School Star Classic* says: A shooting star shooting out from the Big Dipper indicates that the ruler will send envoys to the feudal states; if the star is yellow or white, there will be joyful events to celebrate; if it is dark blue, there will be troubles; if it is red, there will be military affairs; this will come true within two years.

石氏曰：“流星出北斗魁中，人主左右有繫死者；流星出北斗魁中，若東西不出，期年兵起；流星出北斗魁中，大將軍出；以星日占知所之。”郗萌曰：“大流星出北斗後，尾長數丈，將出。流星黃白，出北斗魁中，有赦令。”

The Shi school's Star Classic says: If a shooting star shoots out from the handle of the Big Dipper, there will be a minister close to the ruler who is imprisoned and dies; if a shooting star shoots out from the handle of the Big Dipper and does not fly either east or west, there will be military affairs within a year; if a shooting star shoots out from the handle of the Big Dipper, it indicates that a grand general will lead an expedition; as for the direction of the military force, it should be inferred according to the day branch and the direction of the shooting star's flight. Xi Meng says: A large shooting star shooting out from behind the Big Dipper with a tail several zhang long indicates that a general will go on a campaign. If a shooting star appears yellow-white and shoots out from the handle of the Big Dipper, the court will issue an amnesty.

《荊州占》曰：“大流星出北斗魁中，不出其年，兵起，占星所之者，使星出北斗東行，齊趙負兵；（《玉曆》云：齊、魯、鄭。）出北斗南行，荊魏負兵；（《玉曆》云：為荊州、楚、韓。）出北斗西行，秦鄭負兵；（《玉曆》云：秦、晉、魏。）出北斗北行，楚趙負兵。”（《玉曆》云：燕、趙、皆不出三年。）

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: A large shooting star emerging from the northernmost star of the Big Dipper (the "魁" or "Handle") indicates military conflict within the year; one must observe the direction in which the star flies to determine where the conflict will occur: if the star flies east from the Big Dipper, military calamity will befall Qi and Zhao (note: the *Yulü* text says Qi, Lu, and Zheng); if it flies south, military calamity will befall Jing and Wei (note: the *Yulü* text says Jingzhou, Chu, and Han); if it flies west, military calamity will befall Qin and Zheng (note: the *Yulü* text says Qin, Jin, and Wei); if it flies north, military calamity will befall Chu and Zhao (note: the *Yulü* text says Yan and Zhao, and it also states that the calamity will not occur within three years).

《玄冥》曰：“流星出部星，天子伐諸侯，天下將太平，期二年。”京房曰：“流星於北斗傍，明如炬火，長六七丈，（一本云：六七尺。）如繒布，賊臣專制天下，期三年。”郗萌曰：“流星從南斗至北斗者，赦令；期正月、二月。”《荊州占》曰：“使星守北斗，天下亂。”

The *Xuanming Zhuan* says: A shooting star emerging from the "Bu Xing" indicates that the emperor will go to war against the feudal lords, and after that, the world will tend toward peace, which will be fulfilled within two years. The seven stars of the Big Dipper each have their own names, and the seventh star, Yao Guang, is called Bu Xing. Jing Fang says: A shooting star appearing near the Big Dipper, bright as a torch, long six or seven zhang (note: some editions say six or seven chi), in the shape of a piece of silk cloth, is a sign that a minister will seize power for himself, and this will be fulfilled within three years. Xi Meng says: A shooting star flying from the Southern Dipper all the way to the Big Dipper indicates that the court will issue an amnesty decree, which should occur in the first and second lunar months. The *Jingzhou Zhuan* says: The planet of war remaining in the Big Dipper without departing indicates that the world will become chaotic.

郗萌曰：“大流星拂北斗廡，不出其年，有戮死臣，期三年。奔星以冬至前後十日之內繫北斗柄，天下當之，期六十日。”郗萌曰：“大流星抵北斗柄，破之，大臣有憂，期六月。流星抵北斗，天下大發兵。使星抵北斗，東行；不出其年，臣有戮死者。”《荊州占》曰：“流星不入北斗魁中，居其傍，貴人有避宮者。”

Xi Meng said: A great shooting star passes by the corridor of the Big Dipper, that is, the area outside the main part of the Dipper where the auxiliary stars are on either side. There will be the death of a high official within this year, and it will be fulfilled within three years. A rushing star that connects with the Big Dipper's handle within ten days before or after the winter solstice will bring calamity to the whole world, and it will be fulfilled within sixty days. The handle of the Big Dipper governs issuing orders and military campaigns, and the winter solstice is the time when the vital energy of the year begins to stir. Therefore, when these two aspects clash, the divination is particularly urgent. Xi Meng also said: A great shooting star collides with and breaks the handle of the Big Dipper, indicating worries for high officials, which will be fulfilled within six months. A shooting star colliding with the Big Dipper will lead to a large-scale military mobilization across the country. A planet colliding with the Big Dipper and then moving eastward will result in the death of a minister within this year. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: A shooting star does not enter the main part of the Big Dipper, but only stops beside it, indicating that some nobleman will leave the palace. Since it does not enter the main part, the calamity does not reach the person himself, so it only mentions leaving the palace and does not mention execution.

《黃帝》曰：“流星抵正星，大人遇賊憂；流星出正星，執政者易，期一年。”甘氏曰：“大流星抵法星左右，其有光者，男君疾；無光者，女主疾；若出法星，兵起，若有變事，期一年，遠二年。”《荊州占》曰：“流星抵法星，法星色青，三日有兵，期不出四月；色青白，九月有兵；期不出十月；而起期以春也，不出月，大變，變易國名。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: A shooting star colliding with the 'principal star,' which is the first star of the Big Dipper called Tian Shu, indicates the ruler will face worries from bandits; if a shooting star shoots out from the principal star, the chief minister will be replaced, and this will come true within a year. The Gan school's Star Classic says: A large shooting star colliding with the 'legal star,' which is the second star of the Big Dipper, if there are shooting stars with light on both sides of the legal star, the male ruler will be ill; if there is no light, the female ruler will be ill; if the shooting star shoots out from the legal star, there will be military actions or unexpected events, which will come true within a year or two. The Jingzhou Divination says: A shooting star colliding with the legal star, if the legal star turns green, there will be military actions within three days, at the latest not exceeding four months; if the legal star turns green and white, there will be military actions nine months later, at the latest not exceeding ten months, and the time of the crisis will be in spring; if it does not happen within a month, there will be a major event, possibly even changing the country's name.

《聖洽符》曰：“流星抵令星，有兵起，天下不安；若出令星，王者使諸侯，行令四方。”齊伯曰：“流星抵伐星，蠻夷以水兵來入國；若出伐星，天子出使於蠻夷，蠻夷和；若抵破伐星，人多死，期一年，遠二年。”石氏曰：“流星抵殺星，無光五日，君疾；有光十日，女主死。”

The Shengqia Fu says: A shooting star colliding with the "command star," which is the third star of the Big Dipper, indicates that military actions will arise, and the whole country will not be at peace; if the shooting star originates from the command star, the king will send envoys to the feudal states to issue orders to all directions. Qi Bo says: A shooting star colliding with the "military star," which is the fourth star of the Big Dipper, indicates that the barbarians will lead naval forces to invade the country's borders; if the shooting star originates from the military star, the Son of Heaven will send envoys to the barbarians, and the barbarians will then make peace and submit; if the shooting star breaks the military star, many people will die, and the effect will be within one year or two years. The Shi School Star Classic says: A shooting star colliding with the "kill star," which is the fifth star of the Big Dipper, if the shooting star has no light, the king will fall ill within five days; if the shooting star has light, the female ruler will die within ten days.

甘氏曰：“流星抵危星，五穀不成，人君有憂；若出危星，天子出行令。”《荊州占》曰：“流星多抵危星，其色赤，有兵，期一歲；黃有土功事；白，有喪，期一歲；黑，有分國。危星不明，流星數抵之，五穀不成；國相去，君有憂。”

The Gan school's Star Classic says: if a shooting star collides with the 'Wei star', which is the sixth star of the Big Dipper, then the five grains will not mature, and the ruler will have worries; if the shooting star emanates from the Wei star, then the emperor will issue administrative orders. The Jingzhou Divination says: if shooting stars repeatedly collide with the Wei star, and the star appears red, there will be military affairs, which will be fulfilled within a year; if it appears yellow, there will be construction projects involving earth and wood; if it appears white, there will be mourning events, also occurring within a year; if it appears black, there will be territorial divisions. The Wei star itself is dim and unclear, and being repeatedly struck by shooting stars leads to the failure of the five grains; the prime minister of the state leaves his post, causing the ruler to worry about it.

郗萌曰：“大流星數抵部星，王者忌之。”《荊州占》曰：“流星抵部星，色赤，有大憂；有士封爵，列侯有令，若兵器有怪，黃有喜。”石氏曰：“流星入輔星，相官不洽，天子制之，星出輔星；相免，若死。”

Xi Meng said: Repeated occurrences of large shooting stars colliding with the "Bu Xing", which is the seventh star of the Big Dipper, the Yao Guang star, indicate that the ruler should be cautious about this celestial phenomenon. The "Jingzhou Divination" states: When a shooting star collides with the Bu Xing, if the star appears red, there will be great calamity, and it also indicates that a scholar-official will be granted a title, a marquess will receive an imperial decree, or there will be strange occurrences on weapons. If the star appears yellow, there will be good news. The "Shi School Star Classic" says: When a shooting star enters the "Fu Xing", the prime minister and officials will not be in harmony, and the emperor will have to intervene to restrain the situation. If a shooting star shoots out from the Fu Xing, the prime minister will either be dismissed from office or die.
