石氏曰：“地侯雌雄，所出之宿國，亡地；所入之宿國，得地。地侯為雌，歲星為雄。郗萌曰：“填星干木星，野有兵相攻。填星所在，歲星從之，伐者利。”《荊州占》曰：“歲星所在，填星從之，伐者不利；又曰歲星土星，皆出東方，夕入西方，百九十日皆正中者，兵發東方國勝，當入不入，反東行九十日正中者，當發兵主死，人民流亡。”

The Shi school says: "Di Hou" is another name for the planet of Earth (the planet of soil), which is distinguished as female, while the planet of years (Jiu Xing) is male. When the planet of Earth leaves a constellation, the country corresponding to that constellation will lose land; when it enters a constellation, the country corresponding to that constellation will gain land. Di Hou is female, and Jiu Xing is male. Xi Meng says: When the planet of Earth approaches the planet of years (Jiu Xing), there will be military conflicts in the fields. When the planet of Earth is in a certain position, the planet of years follows, and the side that launches an attack will be advantageous. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the planet of years is in a certain position, the planet of Earth follows, and the side that launches an attack will be disadvantageous. It also says: When both the planet of years and the planet of Earth rise from the east and set in the west, and remain in the middle of the sky for 190 days, the country in the east will win if it launches an attack. If they are supposed to set but do not set, instead moving east for 90 days and still remaining in the middle of the sky, then the general of the attacking side will die and the people will flee.

《文曜鉤》曰：“填星與木星合，則變謀更事，主且失勢。”石氏曰：“地侯與攝提所合之宿，大戰不勝亡地主死。”甘氏曰：“歲星土星合，則為內亂。”（按《宋書天文志》曰：“惡光熙元年九月填星犯歲星，是時司馬越專權，終以無禮晉簡文帝。咸安二年正月己酉，歲星犯填星在須女，七月帝疾甚，詔桓溫曰：少子可輔則輔之，不可輔君自取之。顏侍中王坦之毀手詔，改使為王導輔政，故事溫聞之，大怒將誅坦之等，內亂之應也。安帝義熙七年丁卯，歲星犯填星，在參邊，時朱齡石克蜀，蜀民人尋反，又討滅之。）

The Wenyao Gou states: When the planet of filling (Fill Star) meets the planet of the year (Year Star), there will be a need to change plans and alter affairs, and the ruler will lose power. The Shi school says: When the planet of filling (Fill Star) meets the planet of the captor (Captor Star), the region corresponding to that mansion will suffer a great battle which will not be victorious, losing territory, and the ruler will die. The Gan school says: When the Year Star meets the Earth Star, there will be internal disorder. The original commentary says: According to the Records of the Celestial Phenomena in the Book of the Sui, in the ninth month of the first year of Guangxi of Emperor Huizhao of the Jin Dynasty, the Fill Star invaded the Year Star. At that time, Sima Yue held exclusive power over the government, eventually showing disrespect to the sovereign. In the second year of Xian'an of Emperor Jianwen of the Jin Dynasty, on the first day of the first month, on the Jiyou day, the Year Star invaded the Fill Star, located in the mansion of the girl (Nuxu). In the seventh month, Emperor Jianwen was seriously ill, and he issued an edict to Huan Wen saying: if the younger son can be supported, support him; if not, you may take over. The attendant counselor Wang Tanzhi tore up this edict in front of everyone and changed it to order Wang Dao to take charge of government (there is doubt about the names in the original text). Huan Wen heard this and was greatly angry, planning to kill Wang Tanzhi and others, which was the realization of internal disorder. In the seventh year of Yixi of Emperor An of the Jin Dynasty, on the Dingmao day, the Year Star invaded the Fill Star, located near the mansion of the three stars (Censhu). At that time, Zhu Lingshi captured the Shu region, but the people of Shu soon rebelled, and the court again sent troops to suppress them.

郗萌曰：“歲星填星合於張者，則太陽晝；太陽晝者，天必有變，不傷為政者，則害於民。又曰井泉高則平原出雲，歲不調和，貴人多內亂，有大水。又曰天下易令，民流千里，魚鱉死於陸，道民憂盜賊。又曰歲星與土星合，不過十日離；十日不離，天禍且降，不義者乃合之，其禍甚久。”《天官書》曰：“歲星與木合，亂飢生，勿用戰，必敗。”

Xi Meng said: When the star of brightness and prestige meets the star of officialdom in the mansion of Extended Net, there will be an unusual phenomenon called "sun in the day." This means that during the day, there must be some change in the sky. If it does not harm the officials, it will harm the common people. He also said: The water in the well rises, clouds rise over the plains, the harvest is uneven, there is much internal strife among the noblemen, and there will be great floods. He also said: The whole world will change its laws and regulations, the people will flee for a thousand li, fish and turtles will die on the land, and the people on the road will fear bandits. He also said: When the star of brightness and prestige meets the star of earth, they usually separate within ten days; if they do not separate within ten days, the calamity from heaven will descend, and the wicked people will be in harmony with it, and the disaster will last a long time. The "Book of Celestial Officials" says: When the star of brightness and prestige meets the star of wood, the star of brightness and prestige is actually the star of wood, so there must be an error in the original text. Then chaos and famine will occur, and one should not use military force, for it will certainly result in defeat.

《荊州占》曰：“歲星與填星同舍，相去三尺以內，相守二十日以上至百九十二日，其國更主，立王。天下大爭，大臣相殘，王者易統，天下存亡半其守；夕逆行而復相守，以所近之宿位當之，相守一年，期三年。歲星填星合，以合日占其國；色蒼為水，赤為兵，黃為旱，白為喪。歲星與填星合，其國熟，若主吏死。

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the Star of Years and the Star of Filling are in the same mansion, within three feet of each other, and they remain in mutual stay for more than twenty days up to one hundred and ninety-two days, the country corresponding to that mansion will change its ruler and establish a new king. There will be great strife throughout the world, ministers will kill each other, the legitimate ruler will be replaced, and the survival or destruction of the world will depend on the duration of their mutual stay. If theyretrograde in the evening and then re-meet, the country corresponding to the mansion they are near will bear the consequence. If their meeting lasts for a full year, the effect will be seen after three years. When the Star of Years and the Star of Filling meet, the day branch of the day they meet is used to determine which country it will affect. If the stars appear blue, it indicates water disaster; if red, it indicates military conflict; if yellow, it indicates drought; if white, it indicates mourning. When the Star of Years and the Star of Filling meet, the country corresponding to that mansion will have a good harvest, or the official in charge will die.

填星與歲星合，相犯為內亂，不可舉用兵，土在木下，利為主人，土為木上，利為客。六十日不下，其國凶，失地。填星與歲星合一舍，歲星在下，填星在上，名曰雌雄間，客軍大破主人勝，在下六十日，不下，必有空邦徙主；填星為雌，歲星為雄。填星為歲星合，為飢、為旱、為兵，填星與歲星合，有軍在外，戰不勝，失地。”巫咸曰：“填星與歲星斗，不出其年，王者亡地，將軍死之。”

The planet Tianxing meets with the planet Suixing and they mutually attack, indicating internal disorder, and military action should not be taken. The planet Tuoxing is below the planet Mujing, which benefits the side that holds a position; Tuoxing is above Mujing, which benefits the invading army. If after sixty days Tianxing does not descend, the region corresponding to that star will have misfortune and lose territory. When Tianxing and Suixing meet in the same dwelling, Suixing is below and Tianxing is above, this is called "CiXiong Jian," the invading army suffers a great defeat while the defending side wins. If Tianxing remains below for sixty days and still does not descend, there will be a country in a state of emptiness and the ruler will have to move. Tianxing is considered the female star, and Suixing the male star. When Tianxing and Suixing meet, it indicates famine, drought, and warfare; when they meet, if there are armies outside the country, they will not be victorious and will lose territory. Wu Xian said: When Tianxing and Suixing fight, it will not be beyond the current year, the king will lose territory, and generals will die in battle.

《荊州占》曰：“歲星與填星斗，此謂離德，不出三月，必有亡國。歲星逢填星，曰斗；先作事者敗，兵起必受其殃。歲星填星數合斗，使客接道，冠蓋相望，其下國哭泣，期不出六十日。歲星填星斗，其色青為喪；赤為兵。白為旱；黑為水潦。填星與歲星合斗，有軍必戰，無軍起兵，土木交行，必有破傷。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the Star of Years meets the Star of Filling, this is called "Separation of Virtue," and within three months, a state will surely perish. When the Star of Years meets the Star of Filling, it is called "Struggle"; the party that acts first will suffer defeat, and any military campaign will bring calamity. When the Star of Years and the Star of Filling repeatedly meet and struggle, envoys and guests will travel along the roads continuously, with officials and carriages constantly coming and going. In that region, there will be mourning and sorrow, and this will occur within sixty days. When the Star of Years and the Star of Filling struggle, if the stars appear red, it indicates warfare; if they appear blue, it indicates mourning; if they appear white, it indicates drought; if they appear black, it indicates floods. When the Star of Filling meets the Star of Years, if there are armies, battle will surely occur; even without armies, there will be military action. When earth and wood interact, there will surely be destruction and injury.

巫咸曰：“太白犯木星，為飢。期三年。”（按《宋書天文志》曰：晉孝武太元十年十二月己丑，太白犯歲星，是時河朔禾一連。兵在外，冬大飢之應。）《荊州占》曰：“太白犯歲星，為旱，為兵，若環繞與之並光，有兵戰，破軍，殺將。”石氏曰：“太白與歲星相犯而有滅者，諸侯相滅所宿之國受之。”甘氏曰：“歲星干金星，軍再死再生，殺大將。”《荊州占》曰：“太白入木星次中，君賊死。”

Wu Xian said: The bright star (Jupiter) invades the year star (Saturn), indicating famine, and the period is three years. The original book's marginal note says: According to the "Celestial Officials" section of the "Song History," in the tenth year of Taowu of Emperor Xiaowu of Eastern Jin, on the Jichou day of the twelfth lunar month, the bright star invaded the year star; at that time, the millet in the Yellow River region was insufficient, and the army was stationed outside the country, which was the verification of a severe famine in winter. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the bright star invades the year star, it indicates drought and war; if the bright star circles around the year star and shines together with it, there will be warfare, the expenditure star and vanguard star will kill generals. The Shi school says: When the bright star and the year star invade each other and one of them is obscured, it indicates that the feudal lords will devour each other, and the country corresponding to the zodiac sign where the invasion occurs will suffer. The Gan school says: When the year star invades the bright star, the army dies and revives repeatedly, and the general will be killed. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the bright star enters the zodiac sign where the year star is located, it indicates that the monarch will be killed by bandits.

《海中占》曰：“太白出歲星北，客利；歲星出太白北，主人利。”《荊州占》曰：“太白環繞歲星，有亡主。”甘氏曰：“太白與歲星並，太白在南，歲星在北，名曰牝牡相承，五穀成熟；太白在北，歲星在南，年或有或無，歲不熟，飢。”（晉灼曰：歲星陽，太白陰，故曰牝牡；又曰太白在歲星南，以兵飢，在歲星北，以水飢，一曰有亡國。）

The Hai Zhong Zhan says: When Tai Bai appears north of the Shui Xing, distant troops are advantageous; when Shui Xing appears north of Tai Bai, the defending side is advantageous. The Jingzhou Zhan says: When Tai Bai surrounds Shui Xing, the sovereign will suffer defeat and perish. The Gan school says: When Tai Bai and Shui Xing are aligned, with Tai Bai to the south and Shui Xing to the north, this is called "Pine and Cow in succession," resulting in the maturity of five grains. When Tai Bai is to the north and Shui Xing to the south, the harvest is sometimes good and sometimes bad, crops are not ripe, and there is famine. The original commentary cites Jin Zhu's explanation: Shui Xing belongs to Yang, Tai Bai to Yin, hence called Pine and Cow. It also says that when Tai Bai is south of Shui Xing, famine occurs due to warfare; when Tai Bai is north of Shui Xing, famine occurs due to floods; another interpretation is the collapse of a state.

又曰：“歲星太白相去尺，若不能天下有兵，不出四旬中，戰。色青，則東方勝；赤，則南方勝；黃，即中央勝；白，則西方勝。黑，則北方勝。歲星所在，太白從之，伐者利，有功；太白所在，歲星從之，伐者不利，無功。歲星與太白相遇，有兵兵罷。太白與歲星過，木金也，命曰伐其野戰。入太白中，次中大將必死。太白歲星俱出東方，若併入西方，王者亡地。”

It is also said that when the star of years (Jupiter) and the bright star (Venus) are one chi apart, if the two stars cannot coexist, there will be military conflict within forty days. If the stars appear blue, the eastern region will win; if red, the southern region will win; if yellow, the central region will win; if white, the western region will win; if black, the northern region will win. When the star of years is in a certain position and the bright star follows it, military campaigns will be advantageous and victories will be achieved. However, if the bright star is in a certain position and the star of years follows it, military campaigns will be disadvantageous and no victories will be achieved. When the star of years meets the bright star, although there may be military conflict, the conflict will cease. When the bright star passes over the star of years, it is a conflict between wood and metal, called 'cutting', indicating a battle in the corresponding region. When the star of years enters the bright star, and reaches the star's position, the general will surely die. If both the star of years and the bright star appear together from the east or disappear together into the west, the ruler will lose his territory.

《洪範傳》曰：“金木舍於觜，為白衣之會。”《黃帝占》曰：“歲星與太白合，為飢、為疾、為內兵。”《文耀鉤》曰：“太白與木合光，大戰不勝，兵雖起，不成。”《天宮書》曰：“不斗，合相毀，野有破城。”《荊州占》曰：“歲星太白合光，所合之野、謀兵，其相環也，乍居西，乍居東，有逐相，兵起不戰。又曰歲星犯太白，為訴死，外將軍慎之；無將軍不出四十日拜將軍，期九十日。歲星與太白同光，殺大將，相去一尺，天下治兵，不出四十日。”

The *Hongfan Zhuan* says: When the planet Venus and Jupiter are in the same mansion, namely the Turtle Beak mansion, there will be a mourning event involving someone wearing white clothing. The *Huangdi Zhan* says: When the planet Jupiter meets the planet Mars, there will be famine, plague, and internal warfare. The *Wenyao Gou* says: When the planet Mars and Jupiter shine together, great battles will not be successful, and although military actions are initiated, they will not succeed. The *Tianguan Shu* says: When the two stars do not fight but merely meet, they damage each other, indicating that cities in the open fields will be attacked and broken. The *Jingzhou Zhan* says: When Jupiter meets Mars with their light, the region corresponding to their meeting will have plans for military action; when the two stars encircle each other, moving from west to east, the prime minister will be expelled, and although military actions are initiated, they will not result in actual combat. It also says: When Jupiter invades Mars, there will be someone who dies due to litigation, and the general stationed outside should be cautious; if the country has no general, a general will be appointed within forty days, and the prediction will come true within ninety days. When Jupiter and Mars have the same color, the general will be killed; if they are one foot apart, the whole country will prepare for war, and within forty days, this will happen.

石氏曰：“太白與歲星合於一宿，西方凶；歲星出左有年，出右無年；合之日以知五穀之有無。”（陳卓曰：甲乙為麥，丙丁為黍，戌己為粟，庚辛為稻，壬癸為豆。）巫咸曰：“太白與木星合，有白衣之會，為水。”

The Shi school says: When the planet Tai Bai and the star of the year (Sui Xing) meet in the same constellation, there will be misfortune in the west; if Sui Xing appears to the left of Tai Bai, the harvest will be good; if it appears to the right, the harvest will be poor; the abundance or scarcity of five grains can be known from the day branch on the day of their conjunction. The original commentary cites Chen Zhuo's statement: if their conjunction occurs on a Jia or Yi day, it indicates a good harvest of wheat; on a Bing or Ding day, it indicates a good harvest of millet; on a Wu or Ji day, it indicates a good harvest of millet; on a Geng or Xin day, it indicates a good harvest of rice; on a Ren or Gui day, it indicates a good harvest of beans. Wu Xian says: When Tai Bai and the star of wood (Sui Xing) meet, there will be a mourning event with people wearing white clothes, and also a flood disaster.

《荊州占》曰：“歲星與太白合，為喪；歲星與太白同舍，相去三尺以內，七寸以外，金木不當同舍，七日以上，王者誅將軍，其歲星往犯太白，為誅死，國有將軍慎之，乘犯於外官之中，則外將軍慎之，乘犯於內官之中，內將軍慎之；其國無將軍而犯太白，不出四十日，拜將，期九十日。歲星與太合於西方，木在金位，命曰伐，其國凶，為白依之會；木在金北，年不熟。歲星與太白合，其分兵起。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the star of years (Jupiter) meets the star of the general (Mars), it signifies calamity and death. If Jupiter and Mars are in the same dwelling, within three feet but outside seven inches, which is not proper since metal and wood should not be in the same dwelling, and this lasts for more than seven days, the king should execute the general. If Jupiter attacks Mars, there will be someone killed and the country's generals should be cautious. If the attack occurs among the outer officials' stars, the generals stationed outside should be cautious; if it occurs among the inner officials' stars, the generals in the court should be cautious. If the country has no generals and Jupiter attacks Mars, a general will be appointed within forty days, and the prediction will come true within ninety days. If Jupiter and Mars meet in the west, wood enters the position of metal, which is called 'cutting down,' indicating calamity in that region, with a mourning ceremony in plain clothes. If wood is north of metal, the harvest will be poor. When Jupiter and Mars meet, the region corresponding to that position should prepare for war.

The original commentary says: According to the "Celestial Officials" section of the "Book of Song," on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month in the fourth year of Taihe during the reign of Emperor Ming of Wei, the planet Jupiter invaded the planet Saturn; in the third month of the fifth year of Taihe, Zhuge Liang led a large army to attack Tianshui, and Wei sent General Sima Yi to resist, forcing him back. In the first year of Daxing during the reign of Emperor Yuan of Jin, on the sixth day of the eighth lunar month, Jupiter again invaded Saturn; on the third day of the sixth lunar month in the third year of Daxing, Jupiter and Saturn met. In the first year of Yongchang, in the third lunar month, Wang Dun led his troops from Jiangzhou and Jingzhou to attack the capital, and the imperial army failed to resist, so they killed General Zhou Yi, Chancellor Diao Xie, and General Dai Yuan. General Liu Wei fled. In the fourth lunar month, they also killed the governor of Xiangzhou, Prince Zhao Wang Sima Cheng, and General Gan Zhuo. The "Jinyang Spring" records: In the second year of Ningkang during the reign of Emperor Xiaowu of Jin, on the third day of the second lunar month, Jupiter invaded Saturn; in the first year of Taoyuan, in the ninth lunar month, the ruler of the Former Qin, Fu Jian, attacked and destroyed Liangzhou, capturing the governor of Liangzhou, Marquis Xiping Zhang Tianxi. That winter, on the tenth day of the tenth lunar month, General Huan Yi sent troops to sail along the Huai River and Si River to rescue Liangzhou, and also mobilized officials from two states, gathering and relocating refugees to Huainan. In the fifth year of Taoyuan, on the day of Xinmao, Jupiter and Saturn clashed in the Well mansion; in the twelfth lunar month, Fu Jian besieged Xiangyang.

《荊州占》曰：“太白居歲星南，南國敗；居歲星北，北國敗。歲星出，隨太白於西方，相遠，天下無兵。太白與歲星合，未至，太白從歲星疾，主人急憂，失城；歲星從太白疾，客急。太白與歲星合，其國有謀兵；一曰金木合於一舍，其分有蝗；太白與木星會相去五尺，戰；三尺，有破軍；二尺，拔國；光芒相及，大亂；其分民飢，兵起。”

The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the bright star (Jingwei) is located to the south of the year star (Suixing), the southern state will suffer defeat; when it is located to the north of the year star, the northern state will suffer defeat. When the year star appears and moves westward with the bright star, and the two stars are far apart, there will be no military conflicts in the world. When the bright star and the year star are about to meet but have not yet joined, if the bright star urgently follows the year star, the ruler's side will face urgent troubles and lose a city; if the year star urgently follows the bright star, the distant guest army will face difficulties. When the bright star and the year star meet, the corresponding region will have military plans. Another view says that when metal and wood meet in the same dwelling, the corresponding region will suffer from locust plagues. When the bright star and the year star meet, if they are five chi apart, there will be warfare; if three chi apart, the army will be defeated; if two chi apart, the city and state will be captured; when the light of the two stars touches each other, there will be great chaos, and the people in the corresponding region will suffer from famine and military conflicts will arise.

司馬彪《天文志》曰：“歲星與太白斗，其野有破軍，國有內亂。”《荊州占》曰：“歲星與太白斗西方，八日兵起，不則八歲兵起，有流血其下。”《黃帝占》曰：“太白與歲星斗，強國易相。”石氏曰：“太白與歲星斗所在之國，有內亂。”《文耀鉤》曰：“太白與歲星斗，將軍殺；若軍在外，破軍、殺將；有夷狄害。”巫咸曰：“太白與歲星斗，名雄，無戈兵。太白與木星合斗，兵在外為亂。”

Sima Biao's "Continued Book of Han: Records of Astronomy" says: When the star of the year (Jupiter) and the star of the bright planet (Mars) clash, the corresponding region will have armies defeated and internal disturbances in the country. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the star of the year and the star of the bright planet clash in the west, there will be military action within eight days; if not within eight days, then within eight years, and there will be bloodshed. The "Yellow Emperor's Divination" says: When the star of the bright planet and the star of the year clash, the strong country will replace its prime minister. The Shi school says: When the star of the bright planet and the star of the year clash, the country corresponding to the region will have internal disturbances. The "Wenyao Gou" says: When the star of the bright planet and the star of the year clash, the general will be killed; if the army is outside the country, there will be a defeat of the army and killing of the general, and also harm from the barbarians. Wu Xian says: When the star of the bright planet and the star of the year clash, the star of the bright planet is called the strong star, and it indicates no military conflict. When the star of the bright planet and the star of the year meet and clash, if the army is outside the country, there will be rebellion.

《荊州占》曰：“太白與歲星斗，相亂，有滅諸侯，人民離其鄉；一曰民多死者。歲星逢太白，曰斗，有土功，歲旱，天下大飢；先舉兵不勝，必受其殃。太白與歲星合斗於東方，有兵於外，必有戰鬥。於西方，必有亡國，死王，白衣之會。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the planet Tai Bai confronts the planet Su Xing, they disturb each other, indicating that there will be the destruction of feudal lords and people leaving their homeland; another interpretation is that many people will die. When Su Xing meets Tai Bai, it is called "du," which signifies the commencement of construction projects, a dry year, and widespread famine; the side that initiates military action will not win and will certainly suffer calamity. If Tai Bai and Su Xing meet and confront in the east, there will be warfare outside the country, and fighting will certainly occur; if they meet and confront in the west, there will certainly be the fall of a state, the death of a king, and also mourning in white clothing.

司馬彪《天文志》曰：“辰星犯歲星，為兵。”《荊州占》曰：“辰星與歲星合而犯之，為隕霜；若合而斗，其國亂。歲星與辰星合，相去七寸，則交芒相接，七日以上至二十日，天下民流水，泉湧出，期三年；一曰有女喪。”郗萌曰：“歲星干辰星，冬洩疾。”《荊州占》曰：“歲星掩辰星，客將死，期不出其年。”《黃帝占》曰：“歲星與辰星合，則為變謀而更事，國多水，民飢。”

Sima Biao's "Continued Book of Han: Astronomical Records" says: When the water star (Mercury) invades the wood star (Jupiter), it indicates military affairs. When the wood star and the water star meet, and the distance between them is seven inches, their bright edges touch each other, and this situation lasts more than seven days up to twenty days, leading to the migration of people throughout the country, springs erupting on the ground, and this will occur after three years; another interpretation is that there will be the death of a woman. Xi Meng says: When the wood star invades the water star, it indicates an outbreak of diarrhea in winter. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the wood star covers the water star, the commander of a distant army will die, and this will happen within the same year. The "Yellow Emperor's Divination" says: When the wood star and the water star meet, there will be changes in plans and the replacement of affairs, and the country will suffer from much flooding and the people will face famine.

《荊州占》曰：“歲星與辰星合舍，相去三尺，相守七日以上，其國君臣俱和，道德相生；期百八十日，有衣榮。歲星與辰星合，先起兵者凶，後起兵者吉。辰星與歲星合，其分有水，兵飢並起。”甘氏曰：“歲星與辰星合、斗，軍在外則有戰兵，兵不在外為內亂。”郗萌曰：“歲星辰星斗，滅之，殺大將；薄之、貫之，殺偏將。”《荊州占》曰：“歲星與免星斗，將軍死，期一年。”

The book "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the planet Jupiter and the planet Saturn meet in the same room, and are three feet apart, and remain in mutual observation for more than seven days, then the ruler and ministers of the corresponding region will be harmonious, and moral virtues will flourish together. The period of fulfillment is one hundred and eighty days, and there will be events of promotion and honor. When Jupiter and Saturn meet, the one that starts the military action will be inauspicious, while the one that follows will be auspicious. When Jupiter and Saturn meet, the corresponding region will suffer from water disasters, and military conflicts and famine will arise together. The Gan school says: When Jupiter and Saturn meet and fight, there will be warfare outside the territory; if the military forces are not outside, it will indicate internal turmoil. Xi Meng says: When Jupiter and Saturn fight, if one obscures the light of the other, the general will be killed; if they approach and penetrate each other, the deputy general will be killed. The book "Jingzhou Divination" says: When Jupiter and the star of the rabbit (which is another name for Saturn) fight, the general will die, and the period of fulfillment is one year. In this book, whenever it refers to the "star of the rabbit," it is actually referring to Saturn (the water star).

巫咸曰：“熒惑犯填星，兵大起。（按《宋書天文志》曰：“晉穆帝昇平二年八月戊午，熒惑犯填星，三年十月，諸葛攸舟軍入河，敗績。”）《荊州占》曰：“熒惑與填星合而犯，大將軍為亂；若守之，女主凶，期三年。”司馬彪《天文志》曰：“熒惑犯填星，大人忌。”《春秋緯》曰：“熒惑干填星，大旱。”《荊州占》曰：“熒惑入填星中，將軍為亂。”《文耀鉤》曰：“主喜不失政，則熒惑與填星相扶。”

Wu Xian said: The Malefic of violence (Mars) invading the Earth Star (Saturn) indicates a large military campaign. The original commentary notes: According to the "Book of the Later Han · Records of Astronomy," in the second year of Shengping during the reign of Emperor Mu of the Jin Dynasty, in the eighth month on the fifth day of the Wuwu cycle, the Malefic of violence invaded the Earth Star; in the tenth month of the third year of Shengping, Zhuge You led a naval force into the Yellow River for battle and suffered a great defeat. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the Malefic of violence and the Earth Star meet and invade it, it indicates rebellion by a great general; if it remains near the Earth Star, it indicates misfortune for a female ruler, with an expected period of three years. The "Continued Han Book · Records of Astronomy" by Sima Biao says: When the Malefic of violence invades the Earth Star, a person of high status will have something to be cautious about. The "Chunqiu Wei" says: When the Malefic of violence interferes with the Earth Star, it indicates a great drought. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the Malefic of violence enters the domain of the Earth Star, it indicates rebellion by a general. The "Wenyao Gou" says: If the ruler loves good governance and does not lose the way of governance, the Malefic of violence and the Earth Star will support each other and move together.

The original text's marginal note cites Jin Zhuo's explanation: Water is obstructive and can submerge Earth, hence it is called "yongju," another interpretation being "yongtian." At this time, it is not advisable to undertake military actions; it also indicates the loss of territory by the state. Xi Meng says: When Mars and Venus meet, those who contend for power in the corresponding region will be punished and implicated; it also says that when Mars and Venus encircle each other, the Son of Heaven will lose his position within three years; it also says that when Mars and Venus meet, a woman will be punished and implicated.

《文耀鉤》曰：“填星與火合，則大旱，陽行害；又曰火與土合，憂，主孽祥。”石氏曰：“填星與火合，大人惡之。”《海中占》曰：“填星與熒惑合，女子為天下害。”郗萌曰：“填星與熒惑合，為禍喪，其國不可舉事，用兵必受其殃。”（按司馬彪《天文志》曰：孝順帝漢安二年六月乙丑，熒惑光芒犯填星。明年八月，孝順帝崩，孝沖即位。明年正月，又崩。）

The Wen Yao Gou states: When the planet of filling (Tian Cheng) and the malefic of violence (Huo Xing) conjoin, there will be a great drought, and excessive yang energy will cause harm. It also says that when fire and earth conjoin, there will be calamity and signs of demons. The Shi school says: When the planet of filling and the malefic of violence conjoin, the high-ranking officials will detest this celestial phenomenon. The Hai Zhong Zhan states: When the planet of filling and the wandering fire (Ying Huo) conjoin, a woman will become a threat to the world. Xi Meng says: When the planet of filling and the wandering fire conjoin, there will be chaos and loss of life. The country corresponding to the affected area should not take action, and military campaigns will certainly bring disaster. The original text's note says: According to Sima Biao's Continuation of the Han Book · Records of Astronomy, in the second year of Han An of Emperor Shun of the Han dynasty, in June on the day of Yichou, the light of the wandering fire invaded the planet of filling. The next year, in August, Emperor Shun died and Emperor Chong took the throne. A year later, in January, Emperor Chong also died.

《荊州占》曰：“填星與熒惑合，土在火上，他兵加之必有克；土在火下，各不動者，名曰子母同光，其國得地，猛強；若同上下，民有逆心，其分兵起，更王。”石氏曰：“地侯與熒惑所合宿，戰不勝，國飢。”（按《宋書天文志》曰：宋武大明五年正月，火土同在須女，占曰：女主惡之；三月孝穆皇后崩，此其應也。）

The Shi school says: When the planet of filling (Fill Star) and Mars conjoin in the mansion of the girl (Girl Mansion), the warfare in the corresponding division will not be successful, and there will be famine in the country. The original book's note says: According to the *Astronomical Records* in the *Book of Song*, in the first month of the fifth year of Emperor Xiaowu's reign of the Song dynasty, Mars and Saturn were together in the mansion of the girl; the divination text says that the female ruler detests this celestial phenomenon; in the third month, the empress dowager Xiaomu died, which was the fulfillment of this prophecy.

石氏曰：“熒惑從填星，聚於一舍，名曰大陽，其下國且有重德致天下，期在十年。”《文耀鉤》曰：“熒惑與土斗，則子弟亂。”巫咸曰：“填星與熒惑斗，不出其年，有亡國。”郗萌曰：“熒惑與土合斗，兵起，近期十五日，中期三十日，遠期六十日。”

The Shi school says: When the planet Mars (Fenghuo) follows the planet Saturn (Tianxing) and they gather in the same mansion, this is called "Daying." The country corresponding to that division will gain the world through great virtue, and this will happen within ten years. The Wenyaogou says: When Mars and Saturn contend, it indicates rebellion by the younger generation. Wu Xian says: When Saturn and Mars contend, the country will perish within the same year. Xi Meng says: When Mars and Saturn meet and contend, it signifies military action. The near occurrence will be within fifteen days, the middle occurrence within thirty days, and the distant occurrence within sixty days.

《荊州占》曰：“填星與熒惑合斗，必有叛臣為亂，有兵起，期不出二年；又曰熒惑與填星斗，不出三年，有亡國。又曰熒惑與填星斗，王者亡地，將軍死之。又曰填星與熒惑合，相守，主以孽為憂，其下國失地，若有圍邑。又曰熒惑與填星相守，為憂喪。”石氏曰：“熒惑守填星，旱；一曰兵大起。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the planet of filling and the planet of flame meet and fight, there will certainly be a rebellious minister causing disorder and military actions will arise, and this will happen within two years; it also says that when the planet of flame and the planet of filling fight, a state will surely perish; it also says that when the planet of flame and the planet of filling fight, the ruler will lose territory and the general will die in battle; it also says that when the planet of filling and the planet of flame meet and remain stationary, the ruler will worry about庶出 sons, and a country in a particular region will lose territory, or a city will be besieged; it also says that when the planet of flame and the planet of filling remain stationary, there will be calamity and mourning. The Shi school says: When the planet of flame remains stationary at the planet of filling, there will be drought; another view says there will be a large-scale military campaign.

If Mars appears on the north side of Venus, there will be a detached force; if Mars appears on the south side of Venus, there will be a battle involving a subordinate general. If Venus catches up with Mars, the general will be defeated and killed. The book Zhongzhou Zhan says: If Mars and Venus attack each other, there will be military calamity and chaos, and there will be plots of rebellion. The Gan school says: If Mars interferes with Venus, the flowers of plants will be damaged, and political affairs will be hindered. The Shi school says: If Mars and Venus meet, it is called 'Shuo', meaning that metal is melted by fire. The book Zhongzhou Zhan says: If Mars and Venus meet, and they are one chi apart, it is called 'Shuo'; the country corresponding to that region should not take action, and if military action is taken, it will certainly suffer misfortune. The book Zhongzhou Zhan says: If Mars enters the midst of Venus, the general will be killed. The book Hai Zhong Zhan says: If Mars and Venus meet, if metal follows fire, there will be an end to military action; if fire follows metal, there will be a large-scale military campaign.

The original commentary says: According to Zhang Fan's "Han Chronicle," when the royal army suffered a defeat at Heyang and intended to cross the Yellow River to the east, the Astronomer Royal Wang Li said: This year, the bright star was in the Dipper mansion, encroaching upon the planet of filling, and then passed over the Tianjin star. The planet of fire also moved backwards and occupied the northern river. However, it did not actually come into conflict. Thus, they crossed the northern river and prepared to travel eastward through the Zhi Pass. Wang Li then told Song Kai and Deng Ai: The bright star is stationed at the Tian Guan star, meeting with the planet of fire. The metal and fire are in conjunction, which is an omen of warfare. The Han dynasty's destiny is about to end, and between the Jin and Wei dynasties, there must be a rising power. Later, Wang Li repeatedly told Emperor Xian: Heaven's mandate has both decline and renewal; the Five Phases are not constant. The one that replaces the fire phase is the earth phase. The one that succeeds the Han dynasty is the Wei dynasty. The one who can pacify the world is the Cao family. Just entrust the Cao family with the affairs. Upon hearing this, Cao Cao said: I know you are loyal to the court, but the way of heaven is profound, and I hope you will not speak much about it.

《荊州占》曰：“太白與熒惑遇，謂金入火，有兵兵罷，國安無禍。”《海中占》曰：“熒惑太白合，野有破軍，將死。”按班固《天文志》曰：“孝景后元年五月壬午，火金會合於輿鬼之東北，不至柳，出輿鬼北可五寸。丙戌地大動，鈴鈴然，民大疫死，棺貴至秋止。”司馬彪《天文志》曰：“孝殤延平元年正月丁酉，金火在婁，金火合，大人憂。是歲八月辛亥，孝殤帝崩。

The book Zhongzhou Zhan says: When the star of Mars meets the star of Venus, it is called the metal entering fire. Although there may be military affairs, they will end without warfare, and the country will be stable without calamity. The book Hai Zhong Zhan says: When the star of Mars meets the star of Venus, it indicates that armies in the open fields will be defeated and generals will die. According to Ban Gu's Han Shu, Tianwen Zhi, in the fifth month of the second year after the reign of Emperor Jing of Han, on the day of Renwu, the star of Mars and the star of Venus met in the northeast of the Ghost mansion, without reaching the Willow mansion, and appeared about five inches north of the Ghost mansion. On the day of Bingxu, there was a great earthquake, with a loud rumbling sound, and the people suffered a severe epidemic, many died, and coffin prices rose, and it only stopped in the autumn. According to Sima Biao's Xun Han Shu, Tianwen Zhi, in the first year of Yanching of Emperor Shangdi of Han, on the day of Dingyou, the star of Venus and the star of Mars were in the Bond mansion, and the meeting of the star of Venus and the star of Mars indicated that a person of high rank would have worries. In this year, on the day of Xinhai in the eighth month, Emperor Shangdi died.

《荊州占》曰：熒惑與太白合，主人兵不勝；又曰所合國，野有殃；二旬四五日，兵過其野；三旬四五日，兵宿其野；三月不去，其國亡。”又曰：“熒惑與太白合同舍，其分有兵戰，相離則軍離。”（按檀道鸞《晉陽秋》曰：“孝武寧康二年十一月癸酉，太白掩熒惑，在營室。時桓石虔破氐賊姚萇於江。）又曰：“熒惑秋與太白合，其國不可以舉兵，反受其殃。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the planet Mars (Flame) and the planet Venus (Bright) meet, the ruler's side cannot win a battle; it also says that the country corresponding to the area where they meet will suffer calamity in the fields. If the two stars remain together for twenty-four to twenty-five days, there will be troops passing through that area; if they remain for thirty-four to thirty-five days, there will be troops stationed there; if they stay for three months without leaving, the country will be destroyed. It also says: When Mars and Venus meet in the same mansion, there will be warfare in that area; when the two stars separate, the army will also disperse. The original commentary says: According to Tan Daoluan's *Jingyang Spring*, in the second year of Emperor Xiaowu of Jin's Ning reign, on the eleventh month, on the Guiyou day, Venus covered Mars, located in the Encampment mansion; at that time, Han Shiqian defeated the chieftain Yao Chang of the Di tribe on the river. It also says: If Mars and Venus meet in autumn, the country corresponding to that area should not send troops, otherwise it will suffer misfortune.

《黃帝占》曰：“熒惑太白俱入斗，不出其年，國亂有憂；又曰熒惑入東井，太白隨之，兵喪並起。”郗萌曰：“熒惑入東井，太白隨之，將若相死；一曰君死，又曰糴貴。”《荊州占》曰：“熒惑入東井，太白隨之，道上多死人。”陳卓曰：“熒惑入東井，太白隨之，百川皆溢。”韓楊曰：“熒惑太白接，皆赤而芒，三十日舍天津，關河不渡，諸侯不通，其君死之。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: If the planet Mars and the planet Venus enter the Dipper mansion together, there will be domestic turmoil and calamity within the year; it also says that if Mars enters the Well mansion and Venus follows, it indicates the outbreak of military disasters and funerals. Xi Meng says: If Mars enters the Well mansion and Venus follows, it signifies the death of a general or a chancellor; another interpretation says the king dies, and yet another says grain prices will rise. The Jingzhou Divination says: If Mars enters the Well mansion and Venus follows, it indicates many deaths on the roads. Chen Zhuo says: If Mars enters the Well mansion and Venus follows, it indicates flooding in all rivers. Han Yang says: If Mars and Venus are in conjunction, both stars appear red with bright rays, and remain in the Tianjin star for thirty days, it indicates that border crossings and river crossings will be blocked, and the princes will not communicate with each other; the ruler of that region will die.

石氏曰：“熒惑與太白相隨西行，熒惑舍天門西，太白舍天門中；一曰舍天津，人主無出國。”《荊州占》曰：“太白從熒惑聚於一舍，熒惑在上，名曰乘太白，其歲多兵不用，其國將以武致天下，逆行兵起。”石氏曰：“熒惑太白所守之宿在東方，女勝男。”《海中占》曰：“熒惑太白中上出，破軍殺將，客勝。”

The Shi school says: If the planet Mars and the planet Venus move westward together, Mars is located west of the star Tianmen, and Venus is located in the middle of Tianmen; another view says that they are located at Tianjin star, then the ruler should not go abroad for a long journey. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: If Venus follows Mars and they gather in the same dwelling, with Mars above, this is called "riding on Venus," in this year although there are many military affairs, they will not be used, and the country corresponding to this area will gain the world by force; if the two stars move retrograde, there will be military conflicts. The Shi school says: If the dwelling of Mars and Venus is in the east, it indicates that women will surpass men. The "Sea Divination" says: If Mars and Venus rise upward from the middle, it indicates the defeat of the general and the victory of the distant army.

《荊州占》曰：“熒惑入太白中，五十日，將死。又曰熒惑與太白相入，入而不出，其國亂，有憂。又曰熒惑出太白之左，小戰；出太白右，去之三尺，軍小敗。”《黃帝兵法》曰：“熒惑出太白之陰，若不有分軍，必有他急，分大軍也。”《荊州占》曰：“熒惑所在，太白從之，伐不利，無功；太白所在，熒惑從之，伐者利，有功。”石氏曰：“熒惑往從太白，聚於一舍，太白為失明，熒惑赤色而光，環繞太白所守之國，大兵起。”

It further states that if Mars appears to the left of Venus, it indicates small-scale warfare; if it appears to the right of Venus, at a distance of three feet, it indicates a minor defeat of the army. The *Yellow Emperor's Military Methods* says: If Mars appears to the north of Venus, unless there is a need to divide the troops, there must be an urgent matter, and then a large force should be dispatched to deal with it. The *Jingzhou Divination* also says: When Mars is in a certain position and Venus follows, an expedition will be unfavorable and there will be no military success; when Venus is in a certain position and Mars follows, an expedition will be favorable and there will be military achievements. The *Shi School* says: When Mars approaches and follows Venus, gathering in the same area, Venus loses its brightness, while Mars appears red and bright, surrounding the area corresponding to Venus, indicating a large-scale military campaign.

《荊州占》曰：“太白與熒惑遇，是謂金入火，有兵罷，無徭投，又曰太白在熒惑之上，所聚之國，且以義致天下；若在左右，名曰秋兵，其國必大敗。又曰熒惑在太白前後左右，成戰，客勝。又曰太白出熒惑之東，不出三月兵起；又曰太白居熒惑之後而相及，破軍殺將。又曰太白上居熒惑上，復下成熒惑下，有反者。”《宋武兵法》曰：“太白熒惑，一南一北，為死喪。”

The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the bright star and the red star meet, this is called the golden star entering the fire. Although there may be military affairs, they will end without warfare and no conscription or levies. It also says that if the bright star is above the red star, the country corresponding to that area will gain the world through righteousness; if the bright star is to the left or right of the red star, this is called "autumn army," and that country will certainly suffer a great defeat. It also says that if the red star is in front of, behind, or to the sides of the bright star, it indicates warfare, with the visiting army winning. It also says that if the bright star appears east of the red star, war will break out within three months. It also says that if the bright star was originally above the red star but later moves to be below it, there will be rebellion. The "Song Wu Military Code" says: If the bright star and the red star are positioned north and south respectively, it indicates death and mourning.

郗萌曰：“太白乘熒惑，軍敗；隨熒惑，軍憂。又曰熒惑太白合，而太白起角芒，而光居熒惑之上，其國且有用兵，三十日不去，天下三年兵起，六十日不去，下有空國，死主。”《荊州占》曰：“太白與熒惑相留，十日如去，有兵大戰；其不滿十日，有兵而不戰，期不出一年中。又曰熒惑環太白，大將死。”《文耀鉤》曰：“熒惑方行，太白環之，破軍殺將。”石氏曰：“熒惑薄太白，亡偏將。”

Xi Meng said: Tai Bai approaching and covering Ying Huo indicates the defeat of the army; following Ying Huo, there will be worries within the military. Also, if Ying Huo and Tai Bai meet, and Tai Bai appears with a bright horn, shining above Ying Huo, the country corresponding to that area will be involved in military action; if thirty days pass without separation, there will be military action within three years; if sixty days pass without separation, there will be a country in decline and the death of the ruler. The Jingzhou Divination says: if Tai Bai and Ying Huo mutually block each other, and take ten days to separate, there will be a great battle; if they separate within ten days, although there may be military action, there will be no actual fighting, and the predicted time will not occur within a year. It also says that if Ying Huo circles Tai Bai, the general will die. The Shi school says: if Ying Huo approaches Tai Bai, there will be the loss of a subordinate general.

《荊州占》曰：“熒惑從太白下，上抵太白，不主，軍急不戰；又曰熒惑正抵太白，不去，客將死。又曰熒惑摩太白下，破軍，主將死。又曰熒惑摩太白，有數萬人戰，軍敗，人主死。又曰太白貫熒惑，亡偏將。”《春秋緯》曰：“熒惑與太白相逢而斗，勝太白，破軍殺將，熒惑破，人主弱，名聞海內。”《文耀鉤》曰：“熒惑與金斗，陰不制，又曰有戰兵，兵不在外，為在內。”

The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the planet Mars follows the planet Venus and moves upward to meet it, the ruler will be unable to act independently, and military affairs will be urgent but no battle will take place; it also says that if Mars directly confronts Venus without moving away, the leading general from a distant army will die; it also says that if Mars rubs against Venus from below, the army will be defeated and the general will die; it also says that if Mars rubs against Venus, there will be a battle involving tens of thousands of troops, the army will be defeated, and the ruler will die; it also says that if Venus pierces through Mars, the subordinate generals will be lost. The "Chunqiu Wei" says: When Mars and Venus meet and clash, if Mars defeats Venus, the army will be destroyed and generals will be killed; if Venus defeats Mars, the ruler will be weak, yet his name will be known throughout the land. The "Wenyao Gou" says: When Mars and the planet Venus clash, it indicates that the yin forces are not restrained; it also says that there will be warfare, and if the troops are not stationed abroad, then the conflict will occur within the country.

The original commentary says: According to the Records of the Song Dynasty, the Heavenly Officials, in the second year of Yongning during the reign of Emperor Hui of Jin, the planet Mars and the planet Venus were in the mansion of Emptiness and the mansion of Rooftop, fighting with each other. In December, the planet Mars was again near the mansion of Encampment, close to the planet Venus. At that time, Prince Sima Jiong had pacified the chaos in the capital and thus remained to assist in government, becoming arrogant and tyrannical, disregarding the emperor. In this month, Prince Chengdu, Prince Hejian and Prince Changsha jointly attacked him, and Sima Jiong fought against them, attacking and burning the palace gates. Sima Jiong was defeated and executed, and his elder brother, General of the Upper Army Sima Shi, and more than twenty others were also killed.

巫咸曰：“太白與熒惑斗，不出其年，兵起。又曰太白與熒惑春斗，歲旱，夏斗，不出其年，易相；科斗，不出其年兵起；冬斗，不出二年，有喪。”《荊州占》曰：“熒惑與太白相過而斗，不勝，有憂。又曰太白與熒惑斗，大將戰死。又曰熒惑與太白斗，諸侯王有喪，若離國，若多口舌，有內疾，人民尚伐，好戰，殺大將，歲大飢。又曰熒惑與太白斗，不出三年，易相。又曰春太白與熒惑斗，亡君之戒也。夏斗，不出三年，名山破；冬斗，不出其年，有大喪；一曰女喪。”

Wu Xian said: If Tai Bai and Ying Huo clash, war will break out within the same year. He also said that if Tai Bai and Ying Huo clash in spring, there will be drought that year; if they clash in summer, the prime minister will be replaced within the same year; if they clash in autumn, war will break out within the same year; if they clash in winter, there will be mourning within two years. The "Jingzhou Divination" said: When Ying Huo and Tai Bai pass each other and clash, the side that cannot win will suffer misfortune. It also said that when Tai Bai and Ying Huo clash, the general will die in battle. It also said that when Ying Huo and Tai Bai clash, the dukes and kings will have mourning, or they will leave their fiefs, or there will be much verbal disputes, or there will be internal illness; the people will favor warfare and fighting, the general will be killed, and there will be great famine that year. It also said that when Ying Huo and Tai Bai clash, the prime minister will be replaced within three years. Another saying said that when Tai Bai and Ying Huo clash in spring, it is a warning of a fallen king; if they clash in summer, there will be collapse of great mountains within three years; if they clash in winter, there will be great mourning that year; another saying said it refers to the mourning of a woman.

郗萌曰：“熒惑守太白北，太子終若皇子終；守其南，劈人死若季子死；居東西，亦然，若相死，皆期三月。”《荊州占》曰：“太白與熒惑相守，其間容斧，血滿其野；其間容矛，有血流，久相守，血盈滿。”

Xi Meng said: If the planet Mars stops and stays to the north of the planet Venus, it indicates the death of the crown prince or a prince; if it stops and stays to the south of Venus, it indicates the death of a favored person or a young son (the original text may have mistakenly read '劈人' as '嬖人'). If Mars stays to the east or west, the interpretation is the same, or it may indicate the death of a prime minister, and the event should occur within three months. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: If Venus and Mars mutually stop and stay, and the space between the two stars can hold a斧头 (axe), it indicates blood spilling across the fields; if it can hold a spear, it indicates blood flowing; if they remain in mutual stoppage for a long time, blood will flow all over the ground.

劉向《洪範傳》曰：“火水合於斗，不可舉事，用兵必受其殃。”（按《洪範天文星辰變占》曰：漢景帝初元年十一月，熒惑與辰星合於斗，後三年，吳王濞變，七國同舉兵反漢，太尉周亞夫敗之。）

Liu Xiang's "Hong Fan Zhuan" says: When the planet of violence (Mars) and the planet of metal (Mercury) conjoin in the Dipper mansion, it is not appropriate to undertake any enterprise, and if military action is taken, calamity will surely follow. The commentary in the original text says: According to the "Hong Fan Tian Wen Xing Chen Bian Zhan," in the first month of the first year of Emperor Jing of Han's Chuyuan era, the planet of violence (Mars) and the planet of metal (Mercury) conjoined in the Dipper mansion; three years later, Prince Liu Bi of Wu rebelled, and seven states rose up together to rebel against the Han dynasty, and General Zhou Yafu defeated them.

《荊州占》曰：“熒惑與辰星秋合，有兵；冬合，有喪。又曰熒惑與免星合東方，免星白而火，兵在外，削地為和；又曰熒惑與辰星合，大水交行，其國不可以先起兵；合於東方，臣謀其主；合於西方，不出九十日，其國宮中有事。又曰熒惑與辰星合於尾、箕，其國大臣凶；春復為兵，秋冬為喪，凶。”郗萌曰：“熒惑與辰星在尾、箕相近，天下將大赦。又曰熒惑與辰星處虛北，冬雷雨水流，忌甲子。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the planet Mars and the planet Jupiter conjoin in autumn, there will be military affairs; when they conjoin in winter, there will be mourning events. It also says that when Mars and Jupiter conjoin in the east, Jupiter appears white and Mars is nearby, indicating that armies are stationed outside the country, and the country will need to cede territory for peace. It further states that when Mars and Jupiter conjoin, there will be great floods, and the country corresponding to that area should not initiate military action first. If they conjoin in the east, ministers will plot against their sovereign; if they conjoin in the west, within ninety days, there will be an incident in the palace of that country. It also says that when Mars and Jupiter conjoin in the Tail Mansion and the Winnowing Basket Mansion, the ministers of that area will suffer misfortune; in spring, it indicates military affairs, while in autumn and winter, it indicates mourning events, all of which are ominous. Xi Meng says: When Mars and Jupiter approach each other near the Tail Mansion and the Winnowing Basket Mansion, the whole country will soon issue a general pardon. It also says that when Mars and Jupiter are located north of the Emptiness Mansion, there will be thunder and rain in winter, with great flooding, and one should avoid the Jiazi day.

石氏曰：“熒惑與辰星合，為水，必飢，舉事用兵有內亂。又曰熒惑與辰星相去三尺，大人當之；一曰天下大赦。又曰免星與熒惑會，冬為刑；他時為淬。（晉灼曰火入水故曰淬也。）其下之國，不可舉事，用兵必受其殃。”（《天官書》曰：為喪。）甘氏曰：“免星干火星，雨雹；上即妨太子嬖人，下即妨太尉司馬。”《荊州占》曰：“辰星與熒惑合而相守，水火亂行，國有兵喪；若不，有兵，疾疫流行。”（按班固《天文志》曰：孝景五年四月乙巳，水火合於參，其年四月，梁孝王死。）

The Shi school says: When the Malefic of violence and the Star of grain meet, it indicates floods and certain famine, and any military action will lead to internal disorder. It also says that when the Malefic of violence and the Star of grain are three feet apart, the high-ranking person will bear the calamity; another view is that the whole country will be pardoned. It also says that when the Star of grain meets the Malefic of violence, in winter it indicates punishment and execution, and in other seasons it indicates 'quiu'. The original commentary cites Jin Zhuo's saying: Fire entering water is called quiu. The country corresponding to that region should not take action, and military campaigns will certainly bring disaster. The original commentary also says: The Book of Celestial Officials thinks this indicates death. The Gan school says: When the Star of grain is afflicted by the Malefic of violence, it indicates hail; above, it harms the crown prince and the favored person; below, it harms the Grand Marshal and the Commander of the Army. The Jingzhou Divination says: When the Star of grain and the Malefic of violence meet and stay together, it indicates chaos of water and fire, and there will be military conflict and death in the country; if not, there will also be military affairs and an outbreak of plague. The original commentary says: According to Ban Gu's Records of the Han Dynasty, in the fifth year of Emperor Jing of Han, on the fourth day of the fourth month, the Star of grain and the Malefic of violence met in the Three Stars mansion; that year in the fourth month, Prince Liang died.

《荊州占》曰：“免星與熒惑合，其國大旱，赤地千里；又為飢，將行舉事大敗，有覆軍殺將。”陳卓曰：“免星與熒惑合，其國主出走。又曰熒惑所在，辰星從之，伐者利，有功；辰星所在，熒惑從之，伐者不利。又曰熒惑與辰星相過，是謂不祥，不可用兵，命曰自伐。一曰野有兵，不戰；兵在外，亦罷。”《文耀鉤》曰：“辰星牴觸熒惑，展轉復離而合，河漂山，天雨蛤，國主哭於宮。”

The book Zhongzhou Zhuan says: When the star Chen Xing (Morning Star) and the planet Fenhuo (Red Star) meet, the country corresponding to that area will suffer a great drought, with vast tracts of land without rain; it also indicates famine, and generals who go out on military campaigns will suffer great defeat, possibly leading to the complete destruction of the army and the death of the general. Chen Zhuo says: When Chen Xing and Fenhuo meet, the ruler of the corresponding country will flee. He also says that if Fenhuo is at a certain position and Chen Xing follows it, it is favorable to launch an attack and achieve military success; but if Chen Xing is at a certain position and Fenhuo follows it, it is unfavorable to launch an attack. He also says that when Fenhuo and Chen Xing pass each other, this is considered an omen of misfortune, and it is not advisable to engage in warfare, called "self-attack," equivalent to attacking oneself. Another view is that there are troops in the open field but no battle occurs; if the army is stationed outside the country, they will cease hostilities. The book Wen Yao Gou says: When Chen Xing collides with Fenhuo, and they separate and then reunite, it indicates the river Huanghe will overflow, mountains will collapse, and clams and oysters will fall from the sky, and the ruler will weep bitterly in the palace.

《荊州占》曰：“熒惑薄辰星，抵之、貫之，殺偏將。”《文耀鉤》曰：“熒惑與水斗，則以暴敗。”班固《天文志》曰：“火與水合，為北軍角。”《荊州占》曰：“火與水合斗，女子為天下害。又曰熒惑與辰星斗，相毀敗也，則有外後，不即內亂其國，斗東方，臣伐王；斗西方，期九十日，強國；宮中有亂。又曰熒惑與辰星斗；辰星滅，將死；又曰熒惑與辰星合斗，其國內亂，有兵起，其分凶。”

The book Zhongjiao Zhan says: If the Malefic of violence approaches the star of water and confronts it, pierces through it, it indicates that a subordinate general will be killed. The book Wenyao Gou says: If the Malefic of violence and the star of water contend, it indicates failure and destruction due to cruelty. Ban Gu's Han Shu, Tianwen Zhi says: When the Malefic of violence and the star of water meet, it is an omen of conflict between northern armies. Zhongjiao Zhan also says: When fire and water meet and contend, it indicates that a woman will become a great threat to the world. It also says that when the Malefic of violence and the star of water contend, they damage each other, which indicates that the queen mother or concubine of the outer family will interfere in politics; if not, it indicates internal turmoil in the country. If they contend in the east, it indicates that ministers will attack the king; if they contend in the west, it indicates turmoil in the palace of a powerful country within ninety days. It also says that when the Malefic of violence and the star of water contend, if the star of water is obscured, it indicates the death of a general. It also says that when the Malefic of violence and the star of water meet and contend, the country will experience internal turmoil, military actions will arise, and there will be calamity in that region.
