The Gan school says: The six stars of Kangle are located to the north of Kangle. "Kang" refers to a boat, and "Chi" refers to water, so Kangle is like crossing water by boat. The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: Kangle is also called "Daijin" and "Kangxing"; the star Kangxing is located at the ends of the Great Star. Jiao Yanshou says: If Kangle is not located within the degree of Kang mansion, it indicates great strange occurrences in the ancestral temple; according to the day branch it governs, once it appears, it indicates the end of life. Xi Meng says: Kangle governs roads on water; if this star is faint, it is ominous and will ruin the ancestral temple. The Gan school's commentary says: When Kangle is not in its proper place, the household will have to move. This passage previously mentioned that Kangle is located to the north of Kangle, and the original text seems to have some errors or omissions.

The gradual platform star divination covers thirty-seven items.

甘氏曰:“漸臺四星,屬織女東足。”(四方高曰臺,下有水曰漸,主晷律呂之事。)《甘氏贊》曰:“漸臺守漏晷吹滅。”

The Gan school says: The Three Ministers consist of three stars, located south of the handle of the Big Dipper. The original commentary notes: The Three Ministers are analogous to the current positions of the Grand Commandant, the Minister of Works, and the Minister of Works. The Shi school says: The Three Ministers are the ministers who assist the Son of Heaven. These stars are auspicious when they are bright, large, and yellowish in color, indicating good governance and benevolent orders. If these stars appear red, it signifies military conflicts. If they appear blue-green, white, or black, it indicates sudden deaths. The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: If one of the Three Ministers is missing, the world will be in peril; if two are missing, the world will be in turmoil; if all three are missing, the world will be ungovernable. The Zhou Dynasty's bronze tripod star divination texts consist of forty sections.

甘氏曰:“周鼎三星,在攝提西。”《春秋緯》曰:“天鼎,主流亡。”(宋均曰:天鼎,周鼎也。)《甘氏贊》曰:“周鼎酒尊,二簋缶壺。”

The star Tian Tian (天田星) is used for divination and involves forty-two methods.

甘氏曰:“天田二星,在右角北。”《甘氏贊》曰:“天田外界,縣邑正邪。”

The Gan school says: The favored minister is represented by a single star located to the northeast of the Imperial Seat star, symbolizing the favored court official close to the monarch. The "Gan School Commentary" states: The crown prince and the favored minister both stand in attendance behind the heavenly throne, gathering with the retinue.

The Bright Hall Star Divination consists of fifty-three sections.

甘氏曰:“明堂三星,在太微西南角外。”《甘氏贊》曰:“明堂顯化,常盡孝慈。”

The Gan school says: The three stars of Mingtang are located outside the southwest corner of the Taimei垣. Mingtang is the main hall where the Son of Heaven governs state affairs, conducts worship, and holds audiences with feudal lords; the heavens take its name to name the stars. 甘氏曰:“爟四星,在軒轅尾南、柳北。”巫咸曰:“爟,土官也。”《甘氏贊》曰:“爟舉烽表,遠期沉浮。”(爟,烽火,驚急以火相告,日行萬里。)

The Gan school says: The Guan star has four stars, located south of the tail of Xuan Yuan and north of the Willow Mansion. Wu Xian says: The Guan star belongs to the Earth element. The "Gan School Commentary" says: The Guan star raises beacon fires as signals, and distant messages are transmitted through its rising and falling. The original book's marginal note says: Guan is the beacon fire. When there is an urgent matter, fires are used to signal each other, and news can be passed along a thousand miles in one day.

甘氏曰:“酒旗三星,在軒轅右角。”(酒,酒官也。旗,旗官也。)《元命苞》曰:“酒旗,主上尊大帝,運樞陰陽,滿陳列宿,成德五星,布恩神明,和合四節,並宣曆紀,齊得諸靈合歡,故設酒旗以人侑神。”焦延壽曰:“酒旗不具,天下有燕,大喪,以酒亡。”《甘氏贊》曰:“酒旗燕會,情意歡娛。”

The "Chunqiu Yuanmingbao" says: The wine flag is in charge of presenting the finest wine to the heavenly emperor; the heavenly emperor rotates the pivot, regulates yin and yang, arranges and determines the constellations, completes the virtue of the five stars, spreads grace to the deities, harmonizes the four seasons, and simultaneously issues the calendar and year records, making all the deities rejoice together. Therefore, the wine flag is set up, so that people may offer wine and food to worship the deities. Jiao Yanshou says: If the number of stars in the wine flag is incomplete, it indicates that there will be feasting and drinking in the world, or a great mourning, leading to failure and ruin due to wine. The "Gan School Commentary" says: The wine flag governs feasting and gatherings, bringing joy and happiness.

甘氏曰:“天尊三星,在東井北。”《甘氏贊》曰:“天尊愍民,憐育幼弧。”(天尊,主盛餤粥,以給貧病也。)

The original commentary says: The Si Guai stars are in charge of divining calamities and auspicious signs. The Luo Writing says: The Si Guai stars collect the gains and losses of human affairs. It also says: The Si Guai stars discern the will of the divine and reveal hidden omens. Jiao Yanshou says: The Si Guai stars do not move within the palace, indicating major strange occurrences, or that there are many strange creatures appearing throughout the world. The Gan school's praise says: The Si Guai stars foretell calamities and misfortunes, enabling the state to avoid disaster.

The Star of the Banner occupies sixty-two positions.

甘氏曰:“座旗九星,在司怪東北。”《甘氏贊》曰:“座旗,旗表別異,殊居以旗。”(表,則君世之安立也。)

The "Gan School Commentary" says: The seat flag uses banners and flags as symbols to distinguish ranks, with different positions using different flag identifiers. The "Spring and Autumn Hecheng Tu" says: The star Tian Gao governs the gate of worship, and the sovereign performs his purification rites here before carrying out worship. Jiao Yanshou says: When the star Tian Gao is near the star Yue of Jing Xu, it indicates that a high-ranking minister will be executed; otherwise, it signifies that those in high positions will be demoted and those in low positions will be promoted. The "Gan School Commentary" says: The star Tian Gao is like a lofty palace, a nine-story watchtower.

Lishi Star Divination of the Sixty-Four

甘氏曰:“礪石四星,在五車西。”《甘氏贊》曰:“礪石砥刃,百工卒治。”

The Gan school says: Four stars of the砺石 are located to the west of the Five Carriage stars. The "Gan School Eulogy" says: The砺石 is used to sharpen blades; craftsmen of all trades rely on it to complete and perfect their work.

The Star of the Eight Grains is used for divination and involves fifty-five sections.

甘氏曰:“谷擊八星,在五車北。”(八穀:謂稻、黍、稷、大麥、小麥、大豆、小豆、麻子也。)巫咸曰:“八穀星,主土官也。”郗萌曰:“八穀,主候歲。”石氏曰:“八穀,一星不具,則一谷不成;三星已上不具,以食為害。”《甘氏贊》曰:“八穀平衡,聚集王都。”(謂穀粟皆歸集於王都也。)

The Gan school says: The eight stars of the grain officials are located in the north of the Five Carriage stars, and this star group is commonly called the Eight Grains. The original commentary says: The so-called Eight Grains refer to eight kinds of grain, namely rice, millet, millet, barley, wheat, soybeans, small beans, and hemp. Wu Xian says: The Eight Grains stars oversee matters concerning the earth officials. Xi Meng says: The Eight Grains stars observe the harvest of the year. The Shi school says: If one of the eight stars is missing, one kind of grain will not be ripe; if three or more stars are missing, it will lead to food shortages and cause disasters. The Gan school's commentary says: The Eight Grains are balanced like a scale, gathering grains to the royal capital. The original commentary says: This refers to all grain being gathered to the royal capital.

Heavenly Portent Star Divination: Sixty-six

甘氏曰:“天讒一星,在捲舌中。”石氏曰:“天讒星明大,則讒佞害,民善,天下二心,諸侯專權誣欺。”《甘氏贊》曰:“捲舌唾水,讒主天醫。”

The Gan school says: The Tianchan star is only one star, located within the Juan she star. The Shi school says: When the Tianchan star is bright and large, it indicates the presence of slanderous people causing harm, innocent people suffering, and the people of the world harboring divided intentions. The princes and dukes will seize power, making false accusations and deceiving others. The "Gan school praise" says: The tongue rolls out saliva like water, and the harm caused by slander must be cured by Tianyi.

The star of accumulated water is used for divination and involves seventy-seven sections.

甘氏曰:“積水一星,在天船中。”石氏曰:“積水星明,則水大出,船行人道,必有淪邑者;星動搖,而行上舟,船摩天。”《甘氏贊》曰:“天船布罔,積水候災。”

The Gan school says: The Accumulated Water star is only one star, located among the Heavenly Ship star. The Shi school says: When the Accumulated Water star is bright, it indicates a great flood will emerge, with boats traveling on roads where people should walk, and cities will certainly be submerged; when this star moves, the water rises to lift the boats, and the boat bodies are almost touching the sky. The "Gan School Commentary" says: The Heavenly Ship spreads its net, and the Accumulated Water star observes and predicts water disasters.

The star of accumulated corpses is used for divination and involves eighty-six cases.

甘氏曰:“積尸一星,在大陵中。”石氏曰:“大陵中有朽骨,故大陵中有積尸。若其星明大者,有大喪,死人如丘山。”《甘氏贊》曰:“大陵表墓;積尸隨居。”

The Gan school says: The star called Ji Shi is only one star, located within the Da Ling star; "Ji Shi" means accumulated bones. The Shi school says: Within the Da Ling star there are decayed bones buried, hence there is a star called Ji Shi within Da Ling. If this star is bright and large, it indicates a great mourning, with dead bodies piled up like hills. The "Gan School Commentary" says: Da Ling indicates tombs, and Ji Shi is located within them.

The Left More Star indicates sixty-nine.

甘氏曰:“左更五星,在婁東。”(左更,山虞之官,主川澤、林藪、竹林、菜蔬之屬也。)郗萌曰:“左更,主仁之道。”《黃帝》曰:“左更星不具,天下道不通。”焦延壽曰:“左更星不動搖,王者以出,必道亡;其動者,以出吉。”《甘氏贊》曰:“左更采薪,菟圓採茹。”

The Gan school says: Left More is a star official consisting of five stars located east of the Bond mansion. Left More and Right More are positioned east and west of the Bond mansion respectively, forming a pair of complementary star officials. The original commentary notes that Left More is a type of official responsible for managing rivers, lakes, forests, bamboo groves, and vegetables. Xi Meng says: Left More governs benevolence. The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: If the number of Left More stars is incomplete, the roads in the world will be unsmooth. Jiao Yanshou says: If Left More stars are still, the king should not travel at this time, for there will certainly be loss on the way; if the stars are moving, then traveling is auspicious. The Gan school's commentary says: Left More is responsible for cutting firewood and gathering vegetables in the rabbit garden to prepare food.

The Right More Star Divination covers seventy items.

甘氏曰:“右更五星,在婁西。”(右更,主牧養牛馬之官也。)郗萌曰:“右更,主禮義。”《黃帝占》曰:“右更星不具,天下道不通。”焦延壽曰:“左更不動,右更獨動,王者私出;左右具動,王者千萬官出。”《甘氏贊》曰:“右更僕畜孕重犢駒也。”
