The Spring Annals says: When the planet Mars is in conjunction with the star Wolf, and the constellation Hu Shi (the nine stars of Hu Shi are located southeast of the Wolf star, forming the shape of a bow aimed at the Wolf, indicating preparation against thieves), it indicates that the feudal lords will attack each other. Xi Meng says: When Mars is in conjunction with the Wolf star and Hu Shi, it only indicates minor troubles; if it forms the shape of 'gou si' or coils into a ring, it indicates that the noble person will have worries, and the time period will be about six months. Another divination says: When Mars is in conjunction with the Wolf and Hu Shi, it indicates that the barbarians will rebel against their rulers themselves.

郗萌曰：“熒惑守狼，有小令，出大水。”《荊州占》曰：“熒惑守狼，天下發兵；一曰其國有兵。”又占曰：“熒惑守狼星，狗大貴，不即多死，狼，天狗也。”石氏曰：“熒惑入守狼，野獸死。”甘氏曰：“熒惑犯守狼星，將軍出，有千里之行，天下皆兵，盜賊縱橫，若有死將，期二年。”

Another divination says: When Mars stays at the Wolf Star, it indicates the price of dogs will rise greatly, or there will be a large number of dog deaths, because the Wolf Star is originally the heavenly dog. Shi Shen said: When Mars enters and stays at the Wolf Star, it indicates the death of wild animals. Gan De said: When Mars collides with and stays at the Wolf Star, it indicates a general will go on a military campaign, there will be a journey of thousands of miles, military forces will be everywhere, bandits will run rampant, or a general will die in battle, and this will occur within two years.

巫咸曰：“熒惑守弧星，兵大起，將軍出行，弓弩大貴，國多盜賊，民不安，期百八十日，遠一年。”郗萌曰：“熒惑守弧星，人民飢，食茹粟，谷大貴。”又占曰：“熒惑以五月守弧星六十日，其邦有兵戰。”《荊州占》曰：“熒惑守弧星，貴人多死，若將當代貴人。”又占曰：“熒惑守弧星，大將有千里之行，國政驚；一曰車騎兵出。”

Wu Xian said: When the planet Mars is stationed at the star Huoshi, there will be great military movements, generals will go to war, the price of bows and arrows will rise sharply, there will be many thieves in the country, and the people will not have peace. This situation will last about one hundred and eighty days, or even a year. Xi Meng said: When Mars is stationed at the star Huo, the people will suffer from hunger, they can only eat wild vegetables mixed with coarse rice to survive, and the price of grain will soar. Another divination says: When Mars stays at the star Huo for sixty days in the fifth month, it indicates that there will be warfare in that state. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When Mars is stationed at the star Huo, many prominent people will die, or someone will take the place of the prominent ones. Another divination says: When Mars is stationed at the star Huo, there will be a general leading a distant campaign, and the country's political situation will be shaken; another interpretation says that cavalry will be mobilized.

《海中占》曰：“熒惑犯守天稷，有旱災，五穀不登，歲大饑饉；一曰五穀散出。”

The "Sea Divination" says: If the planet Mars confronts and occupies the position of Tian Ji (Tian Ji, the five stars located south of the Seven Stars, represents the chief of all grains, governing agricultural affairs and harvests), it indicates there will be drought, poor harvest of the five grains, and great famine in that year; another interpretation says that the grain stored in the granary is scattered out.

《荊州占》曰：“熒惑犯四輔星，君臣失禮，輔臣有誅。”

The Jingzhou Divination says: If the planet Mars enters the Purple Micro Palace and conflicts with the Five Emperors' inner seats (the Five Emperors' inner seats are the five planets located under Huagai and within the Purple Micro Palace, representing the seats of the heavenly emperor in the inner court), it indicates that a minister will kill the sovereign.

郗萌曰：“熒惑入造父中，車馬貴。”又占曰：“熒惑舍造父，水大出。”《黃帝占》曰：“熒惑守造父，材官騎士出，馬動兵起。”

Another divination says: Mars staying in Zhao Fu indicates a great flood. The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: When Mars stays in Zhao Fu, it indicates that the material officers and horsemen will be mobilized, horses will be moved, and military actions will arise.

郗萌曰：“熒惑守杵臼星，國有舂米軍旅之事。”又占曰：“熒惑守天杵，即大溝瀆多水。”

Xi Meng said: The planet Mars stays at the position of the mortar and pestle stars (the mortar consists of three stars, the pestle of four stars, located to the north of the mansion of Emptiness, symbolizing the preparation of rice for food), indicating that there will be matters concerning the preparation of rice and the use of military forces within the country. Another divination passage says: When Mars stays at the celestial mortar, it signifies a great flood filling the major canals and waterways.

郗萌曰：“熒惑守司命，多暴死者；司命主百鬼，與輿鬼同候。”

Xi Meng said: When Mars is stationed at the Director of Destiny star, since this Director of Destiny star is located north of the Emptiness mansion, it is in charge of revealing mistakes and carrying out punishments, and it is not the same as the Director of Destiny star in the Star of Examinations and Documents palace. This indicates that many people will die suddenly. The Director of Destiny oversees matters concerning ghosts, so it should be verified together with the Ghost mansion star.

郗萌曰：“熒惑舍天雞三十日，旱；又曰雞夜鳴，天下盡驚。”

Xi Meng said: The planet Mars stays in the Tian Ji star for thirty days (the Tian Ji star consists of two stars located north of the Dog country, governing the announcement of morning and night and strange birds), indicating drought in the heavens; he also said that domestic chickens on earth will crow at night, causing fear among people all over the world.

郗萌曰：“熒惑犯市樓，天下易弊。”又占曰：“熒惑乘市樓，天下有所發，期不出三年。”

Xi Meng said: The planet Mars conflicting with the market pavilion (the market pavilion consists of six stars located in the celestial market enclosure, which is the office in charge of market transactions, governing measures and currency), indicates that the whole country will change its currency. Another divination text says: The planet Mars is above the market pavilion, indicating that the country will have major conscription affairs, and the fulfillment of this prophecy will not be beyond three years.

郗萌曰：“熒惑犯日星，為大戰。”

Xi Meng said: The planet Mars conflicts with the sun and stars. When the sun and a star are in the north of the Room mansion, it is the dwelling place of the Star of brightness and prestige, governing Yang Virtue and the image of the sovereign. This indicates the occurrence of large-scale warfare.

郗萌曰：“熒惑犯亢池，海大魚死。”

Xi Meng said: The planet Mars conflicts with the mansion of Kangle, which is located north of the mansion of Kangle, governing matters of crossing water by boat and welcoming and sending off guests. This indicates that a large number of big fish in the sea will die in batches.

郗萌曰：“熒惑守天田，五穀不成，黍貴。”《荊州占》曰：“熒惑守天田，旱。”又占曰：“熒惑守天田，人主犯禮，有災。”

Xi Meng said: When the planet Mars stays in Tian Tian (the two stars Tian Tian are located north of the Horn mansion, representing the fields cultivated by the emperor himself, and they presage agricultural affairs), it indicates that the five grains will not mature and millet will be expensive. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When Mars stays in Tian Tian, it presages drought. Another divination says: When Mars stays in Tian Tian, it indicates that the ruler violates propriety and thus invites calamity.

《荊州占》曰：“熒惑入天門，去復還，關梁不通。”又占曰：“熒惑舍天門，進退前後，凶，兵大起；熒惑守天門，國絕祀；各以其日占。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the planet Mars enters the heavenly gate (the two stars of the heavenly gate are located south of the Horn mansion, and serve as the outer gate for the emperor to enter and exit), and then goes back, it indicates that passageways and bridges will be blocked. Another divination says: When Mars stays at the heavenly gate, moving forward and backward, sometimes ahead and sometimes behind, it signifies calamity, and large military conflicts will arise; when Mars remains at the heavenly gate, it indicates the state will cut off the ancestral temple sacrifices. 甘氏曰：“熒惑入守平道，天下兵亂。”

《宋書天文志》曰：“宋孝武孝建元年十月乙丑，熒惑犯進賢星，時吏部尚書謝莊表解職。”

The "Celestial Officials" section of the "Book of Song" states: In the first year of Xiaowu Emperor's Xiaojian era, on the tenth day of the tenth lunar month, the planet Mars approached the star of the Minister of Personnel (the star of recommending virtuous men, located west of the Plain Path, which signifies the recommendation of officials). 郗萌曰：“熒惑入天高，先軍起，後有赦。”《荊州占》曰：“熒惑入天高，有奇令；又曰入天高中十日，成鉤已，有贖罪之令。”《荊州占》曰：“熒惑入天高，留二十日，小赦；三十日十赦。”郗萌曰：“熒惑逆行天高中，必有破軍死將、亡國去王。”《蓬萊占》曰：“熒惑守左高，反者不勝；守右高，反者勝。”

Xi Meng said: The planet Mars entering Tian Gao (Tian Gao consists of four stars located in the Southeast of Bi Xu, symbolizing distant observation from a terrace), indicates that there will first be military action, followed by the issuance of an amnesty decree. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When Mars enters Tian Gao, it signifies the issuance of extraordinary decrees. It also says that when Mars stays in Tian Gao for ten days and forms the shape of "Gou Si", it indicates the issuance of policies allowing the payment of money to redeem crimes. The "Jingzhou Divination" also says: When Mars enters Tian Gao and stays for twenty days, a minor amnesty will be carried out; if it stays for thirty days, a major amnesty will be carried out. Xi Meng said: When Mars moves backward within Tian Gao, it certainly indicates the defeat of the army, the death of generals, the collapse of the state, and the flight of the king. The "Penglai Divination" says: When Mars guards the left star of Tian Gao, the faction that rebels will not succeed; when it guards the right star, the faction that rebels will prevail.

郗萌曰：“熒惑入礪石，邊卒兵起。”《黃帝占》曰：“熒惑舍礪石二十日，諸侯開庫，發兵。”

Xi Meng said: The planet Mars entering the constellation Li Shi (which consists of four stars located west of Wuxia, representing a grinding stone for weapons, indicating military preparedness) indicates that soldiers stationed at the border will rise in rebellion. The Yellow Emperor's Divination states: When Mars remains in Li Shi for twenty days, it signifies that the feudal lords will open their military stores and dispatch troops.

甘氏曰：“熒惑守積尸，大人當之。”

Gan De said: The planet Mars remains at the accumulated corpse star (the accumulated corpse star is one star in the Great Tomb, symbolizing a pile of bones, indicating death and mourning), this misfortune will be borne by a person of high status.

《黃帝占》：“熒惑入五潢，為天下大亂，易政；一曰貴人死。”郗萌曰：“熒惑舍五潢，有兵，車騎行。”《黃帝占》曰：“熒惑入五潢，為運道不通，兵起。”郗萌曰：“熒惑舍五潢，牛馬多疾死，腐爛道傍。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: When the planet Mars enters the Five Halls, it indicates great chaos throughout the world and changes in government policies; another interpretation is the death of prominent people. Xi Meng says: When Mars stays in the Five Halls, it signifies military affairs and travel by carriages, horses, and cavalry. The Yellow Emperor's Divination also says: When Mars enters the Five Halls, it indicates blocked transportation routes and the outbreak of military conflicts. Xi Meng says: When Mars stays in the Five Halls, it indicates a large number of cattle and horses dying and their bodies rotting along the roadsides.

巫咸曰：“熒惑入五潢中，大亂，大旱，大殘，以其近占四方殃，死而不葬，易世立王。”陳卓曰：“熒惑守五潢，賊起水中；一曰有淫雨。”《黃帝占》曰：“熒惑中犯乘守五潢，期二十日，兵起。”

Wu Xian said: The planet Mars entering the five rivers indicates great disorder, severe drought, and large-scale destruction. According to which star it approaches, one can determine which direction will suffer calamity. At that time, people will die and be left unburied, leading to a change of dynasty and the establishment of a new king. Chen Zhuo said: When Mars guards the five rivers, bandits will rise up from the water. Another view is that prolonged rain will cause disaster. The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: When Mars directly confronts, attacks, dominates, or stays at the five rivers, the predicted time is twenty days, and military actions will arise.

《黃帝占》曰：“熒惑入咸池中，天下大旱。”甘氏曰：“熒惑入咸池，因行其中不止，是謂致兵，諸侯兵起，天不亂。”甘氏曰：“熒惑入咸池，有兵喪，天子且以大敗，失忠臣，若旱；一曰大水，道通，貴人死；以入日占國。”郗萌曰：“熒惑入咸池，為有以迷惑人主者；一曰地動出搖。”

Gan De says: When Mars enters Xianchi and moves around within it continuously, this is called 'causing military conflict,' indicating that the feudal lords will rise in rebellion and the world will be in turmoil. Gan De also says: When Mars enters Xianchi, it signifies military affairs and mourning, the Son of Heaven will suffer a great defeat, lose loyal ministers, or face drought; another interpretation is a great flood, with waterways flowing smoothly, and the death of prominent people; according to the stem and branch of the day Mars enters, one can determine which state it will affect. Xi Meng says: When Mars enters Xianchi, it indicates that someone will use cunning to deceive the sovereign; another interpretation is an earthquake causing shaking.

郗萌曰：“熒惑舍天街中央，大赦；一曰當天街，為諸侯自立為王；一曰大水。熒惑留止，若逆行天街中，為兵草起。熒惑不從天街者，為政令不行，不出其年，有兵。”

Xi Meng said: The planet Mars is staying in the middle of the celestial street, which is two stars located between the Net mansion and the Hairy Head mansion, serving as the passage for the sun, moon, and five planets to enter and exit, as well as the boundary between Huaxia and Yidi. This indicates a great amnesty. Another interpretation says that when Mars is exactly at the celestial street, it indicates that the feudal lords will claim kingship without authorization. Another interpretation says that there will be a great flood. If Mars remains stationary or moves backward in the celestial street, it indicates the outbreak of warfare and chaos. If Mars does not follow the celestial street, it indicates that the government's policies will not be implemented, and there will be military affairs within the same year.

《文曜鉤》曰：“熒惑守天街，政塞奸出，上下相疑，四方隔絕。無通時。”郗萌曰：“熒惑犯天街，國絕祀，以入日占國。”石氏曰：“熒惑犯守天街，及徘徊亂行，主弱臣強，道路隔絕，天下不通。”

郗萌曰：“熒惑舍狗星三十日，旱。又曰狗群嗅，天下人盡驚。”

Xi Meng said: The planet Mars stays in the Dog Star for thirty days (the two Dog Stars are in front of the handle of the Dipper, governing defense and barking at thieves), indicating drought in heaven. He also said that dogs on earth will run around sniffing in groups, causing fear among all people.

《荊州占》曰：“熒惑守狗國，外夷為變。”

The Jingzhou Divination states: When the planet Mars is stationed in the Dog Country (the Dog Country consists of four stars located to the southeast of the Jian Star, symbolizing the northeastern barbarian tribes such as the Xianbei, Wuhuan, and Wozu), it indicates disturbances among the outer tribes and夷人.

《晉陽秋》曰：“孝武太元年九月癸亥，熒惑犯哭星，二年八月，徵西大將軍桓豁薨，十月尚書令王彪之薨。”

The "Jinyang Spring and Autumn" states: In the first year of Taoyuan of Emperor Xiaowu of Eastern Jin, in the ninth month, on the Guihai day, the planet Mars approached and clashed with the crying star (the two crying stars are located to the south of the Emptiness mansion, and are accompanied by the weeping star, indicating matters of mourning and crying); in the eighth month of the second year of Taoyuan, General of the Western Expedition Huaban died, and in the tenth month, the Minister of the Secretariat Wang Biaozhi died.

Xi Meng says: If Mars dominates and stays near the guizi, it mainly signifies the use of beheading, and generals will be in trouble.

郗萌曰：“熒入天庚中，大旱，粟貴，發用。”

Xi Meng said: The Malefic of violence enters the Heavenly Granary among the Heavenly Stems (Heavenly庾 refers to the Heavenly Granary, three stars located south of the Heavenly Granary, governing the accumulation of grain in granaries), indicating a great drought, grain becoming expensive, and the government needing to open the granary to distribute stored grain.

《黃帝占》曰：“黃惑入芻藁中，主敗寶出，亂臣在內。”
