《甘氏占》曰：“月暈填星，色不明，主人勝客；明，客勝主人。”《巫咸占》曰；“月暈填星，其國主死，一曰旱。”《高宗占》曰：“月暈填星，所在之國兵起，戰不勝。”《海中占》曰：“月暈填星，相死，若皇后死，不則亡地。”

The Gan school says: When the moon's halo surrounds the planet Tian Xing, and the halo is dark and unclear, it indicates that the defending side will win over the attacking side; if the halo is bright, then the attacking side will win over the defending side. (Tian Xing is the planet Saturn, which takes about twenty-eight years to orbit the sky, and occupies one zodiac mansion each year, hence its name Tian Xing. It belongs to the Earth element, and represents virtue, the queen consort, and earth-related projects.) The Wu Xian school says: When the moon's halo surrounds Tian Xing, it indicates the death of the king of the country corresponding to the area ruled by Tian Xing, or alternatively, a drought in the sky. The Gao Zong school says: When the moon's halo surrounds Tian Xing, it indicates that the country corresponding to Tian Xing's area will go to war, but will not achieve victory. The Hai Zhong school says: When the moon's halo surrounds Tian Xing, it indicates the death of the chancellor or the empress, or alternatively, the loss of territory.

《荊州占》曰：“月暈填星，五合五解，所宿國主當之。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈回填星，所宿之國有德。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈回填星，三復之，相死，天下土盡動，大起邑，屋大壞，女主有憂：五復之，主死。”

The book Zhongjiao Zhan says: When the moon's halo surrounds the planet Tianxing, and the halo appears five times converging and five times dispersing, it indicates that the ruler of the state corresponding to the constellation where the moon is located will bear this calamity. The book Dili Xian says: When the moon's halo surrounds Tianxing, it signifies that the state corresponding to the constellation where the moon is located has virtuous governance. The book Dili Xian also says: When the moon's halo surrounds Tianxing three times converging and dispersing repeatedly, it indicates the death of the chancellor, widespread construction projects throughout the land, extensive destruction of houses, and worries for the female ruler; if it occurs five times, it indicates the death of the king.

(Tai Bai refers to the planet Venus, which is the brightest and whitest in color. It appears in the east in the morning as Qiming and in the west in the evening as Changgeng. It belongs to the Metal element and is associated with warfare and military conflict.) The Wu Xian school says: When the moon's halo surrounds Tai Bai, it indicates the death of the king of the country corresponding to the area of the sky. The Jingzhou school says: When the moon's halo surrounds Tai Bai, and Tai Bai is in conjunction with the moon, it indicates the king of the country will die outside the country's borders. The Jingzhou school also says: When the moon's halo surrounds Tai Bai, and Tai Bai enters the halo and the halo is turbid and unclear, the attacking side will be defeated; if the halo is bright and has sharp rays, the attacking side will win; if the color of the halo is the same as Tai Bai and it is in conjunction with the moon, it indicates that the ruler's troubles will arise from within the palace.

The Emperor's Enjoyment says: When the moon halo surrounds the bright star, and it appears over a certain region's sky, it indicates that the country will suffer from military disaster and be unable to win battles; it also says that the country corresponding to the bright star's region will mobilize troops. The Emperor's Enjoyment also says: When the moon halo surrounds the bright star, and it appears three times, dispersing and reappearing repeatedly, it indicates that the country corresponding to the moon's star position will have a general or prime minister die in this event; another interpretation says that the attacking side launches an attack but does not engage in battle, the attack fails, and the outcome remains uncertain between the attacker and the defender.

(The water star is the planet Mercury, located no more than one zodiac sign away from the sun, hence called the water star. It belongs to the Five Phases of water, and is associated with punishment and drought or flood.) Wu Xian says: When the moon's halo surrounds the water star, and the halo twice converges and twice disperses, it indicates that the country corresponding to the area will perish, not later than the same year. Wu Xian also says: When the moon's halo surrounds the water star, it indicates the death of the king of the country. The Jingzhou school says: When the moon's halo surrounds the water star, it indicates the country will perish due to water disaster; it also says that there will be military campaigns in autumn. The Hai Zhong school says: When the moon's halo surrounds the water star, if it appears in spring, it indicates a great drought; if in summer, the death of the king; if in autumn, a great flood; if in winter, a great mourning.

The book "Jingzhou Zhuan" says: When the moon's halo surrounds the planet Jupiter, and the halo appears twice converging and twice dispersing, it indicates that the country corresponding to the star mansion where the moon is located will suffer from famine and collapse, within a year. The book "Gaozong Zhuan" says: When the moon's halo surrounds Jupiter, and the halo appears three times converging and dispersing repeatedly, it indicates that the country will perish due to flooding. The book "Jingzhou Zhuan" says: When the moon's halo surrounds Jupiter five times, it indicates that the female ruler of the country will die. The book "Dilangxi" says: When the moon's halo surrounds Jupiter, it indicates that the country corresponding to the star mansion that Jupiter guards will suffer from great floods. The book "Dilangxi" says: When the moon's halo encircles Jupiter, in spring and summer it indicates that the people will suffer from many cases of cold and fever, in autumn it indicates military campaigns and flooding, in winter it indicates the death of the king or the worry of flooding. The book "Jingzhou Zhuan" says: When the moon's halo surrounds Jupiter and the constellations Jiao Xu and Kang Xu, and the halo circles around twice, forming a shape like a chain, it will not exceed three years, and there will be great plots by the ministers or they will be executed.

郗萌曰：“月以正月、十二月暈角亢氐房心五星者，大赦；暈四星者，小赦。”《巫咸占》曰：“月暈角亢氐，蟲多死，天下土卒死。”陳卓曰：“月暈角亢，大將軍有憂。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈回角亢，蟲多死。”石氏曰：“月暈氐房心，有德令。”郗萌日：“月暈氐房心，其地有役，”石氏曰：“月暈房心，帝國有兵，廟堂句氐宿，大赦：句三宿，小赦，五百里以下：句二宿，赦百里內。”

Xi Meng said: When the moon forms a halo in the first and twelfth lunar months, if the halos encompass the stars of the five mansions, Jiao, Kang, Di, Fang, and Xin, it indicates the court will issue a great amnesty. If only four of these mansions are encompassed, it indicates a minor amnesty. The Wu Xian Divination says: If the moon's halo covers the three mansions Jiao, Kang, and Di, it indicates a large number of insects will die and soldiers will suffer casualties. Chen Zhuo said: If the moon's halo covers the two mansions Jiao and Kang, it indicates the general-in-chief will have worries. The "Imperial Viewing of Joy" says: If the moon's halo circles around Jiao and Kang, it indicates a large number of insects will die. The Shi school said: If the moon's halo covers the three mansions Di, Fang, and Xin, it indicates there will be edicts of virtuous governance. Xi Meng said: If the moon's halo covers Di, Fang, and Xin, it indicates there will be conscription in the region corresponding to these mansions. The Shi school said: If the moon's halo covers the mansions Fang and Xin, it indicates there will be military affairs in the capital region. Fang and Xin are the heavenly Bright Hall and Hall of Government. If the halo hooks onto the mansion Di, it indicates a great amnesty. If it hooks onto three mansions, it indicates a minor amnesty, with the scope of the amnesty within five hundred li. If it hooks onto two mansions, the amnesty scope is only within one hundred li.

石氏曰；“月暈房箕，風地動。”石氏曰：“月暈心尾亢，骨蟲為害；一曰四足蟲；一曰不出其年，易政山崩，出五十里外。”石氏曰：“月以十一月暈心尾，麥有價。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈尾箕，分有疾凶。”石氏曰：“月暈箕斗，兵從東方北方來者勝，從南方來者不勝。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“正月月暈回箕，五穀不成。”巫咸曰：“月暈圍斗，五穀不成，大將易。”

The Shi school says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the Room mansion and the Winnowing Basket mansion, there will be a great wind and an earthquake. (The Winnowing Basket mansion is naturally associated with wind, hence the connection with wind.) The Shi school says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the Heart mansion, Tail mansion, and the Kangle mansion, there will be pests with bones causing harm; another view says pests with four legs will cause harm; yet another view says that this will not occur in the same year, but instead there will be changes in government orders and landslides affecting an area of fifty li. The Shi school says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo in the eleventh month covering the Heart mansion and the Tail mansion, the price of wheat will rise. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the Tail mansion and the Winnowing Basket mansion, there will be plague and misfortune in this region. The Shi school says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the Winnowing Basket mansion and the Dipper mansion, there will be a military victory from the east or north, but not from the south. The "Imperial Tour and Enjoyment" says: When in the first lunar month the moon is surrounded by a halo circling the Winnowing Basket mansion, there will be failure in the harvest of the five grains. Wu Xian says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo enclosing the Southern Dipper, there will be failure in the harvest of the five grains and a change of generals.

《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈牽牛、須女，女子功絲,皆貴；一曰牛多暴死。”郗萌曰：“月暈虛危，有兵，謀不成，風起；又曰有喪。”石氏曰：“月暈虛危，兵革離，動宗廟。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈營室東壁，其地有謀不成；一曰風起；一曰大水且至；又曰寡婦嬰兒多死。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈營室東壁，有大土功。”郗萌曰：“月暈奎婁，其地大病；一曰水蟲多死。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈胃昂，民多腹之疾。”

The "Imperial Leisure" says: When the moon halo covers the Niutou and Xunü constellations, it indicates that the silk industry and the price of silk cloth will rise; another interpretation suggests that cattle will die suddenly in large numbers. (Niutou governs cattle, Xunü governs women's crafts, so each corresponds to its own category.) Xi Meng says: When the moon halo covers the Xu and Wei constellations, there will be military affairs, plots will fail, and sudden strong winds will arise; it also indicates mourning. The Shi school says: When the moon halo covers Xu and Wei, there will be the scattering of weapons and military equipment, and the ancestral temples will be disturbed. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the moon halo covers Yingshi and Dongbi constellations, there will be plots in this region that fail; another interpretation suggests wind will arise; another says a great flood is coming; yet another says many widows and infants will die. The "Imperial Leisure" says: When the moon halo covers Yingshi and Dongbi, there will be large-scale construction projects. (Yingshi and Dongbi originally govern palaces and literary works, so they relate to earthworks.) Xi Meng says: When the moon halo covers Kui and Lou constellations, there will be a great outbreak of diseases in this region; another interpretation suggests a large number of aquatic insects will die. The "Imperial Leisure" says: When the moon halo covers Wei and Mao constellations, there will be many people suffering from abdominal diseases.

郗萌曰：“月暈昴及畢，有慶上賜下者；一曰有德令，無令則有兵起。郗萌曰：“月暈昴及畢，比有反者。”郗萌曰：“月暈昴畢參，赦者有善令，期六十日；又曰不出三年，人主憂，若有賜令。”郗萌曰：“月以太歲所在辰暈畢與五車及一星，小赦；二星，次赦；三星及五星，大赦。”郗萌曰：“月以十一月暈，五車及昴參其星皆入暈中，有大赦；其不盡入，有小赦，期在來年五月中。”

Xi Meng said: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the mansion of Hairy Head and the mansion of Net, it indicates there will be a celebration and the sovereign will bestow rewards upon his ministers. Another interpretation suggests it indicates the issuance of a decree of virtue, and if there is no such decree, there will be military action. Xi Meng said: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the mansions of Hairy Head and Net, it indicates that there will be continuous rebellion. Xi Meng said: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the mansions of Hairy Head, Net, and Three Stars, it indicates the issuance of an amnesty and a decree of good governance, with the period lasting sixty days. It also cannot be said to last three years, the sovereign will have worries, or there will be a decree of rewards. Xi Meng said: When the moon produces a halo in the eleventh month, and the five chariots star, the mansion of Hairy Head, and the mansion of Three Stars are all enclosed within the halo, it indicates a great amnesty. If not all of them are enclosed, it indicates a lesser amnesty, and the time of the amnesty will be in the middle of the following fifth month.

石氏曰：“以正月上旬月暈昴畢參伐，有赦令。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈回畢參觿，矢弓弩貴。”石氏曰：“月暈參井，水霜數至。”巫咸曰：“月暈圍井鬼。其年不和；一曰旱。”京房《易傳》曰：“月暈翼軫，軍在外戰，亡其偏將。”郗萌曰：“月暈軫角，先起兵者不勝；重開吉，重發兵者，兵死。”巫咸曰：“月暈軫角，赦期百二十日；一曰以四孟月暈軫角，皆為赦。”

The Shi school says: When the moon forms a halo in the first ten days of the first lunar month, covering the star cluster of Mao, Chou, and the lower part of Shen and Cen, it indicates there will be an amnesty. The "Imperial Leisure" says: When the moon's halo circles around Chou, Shen, and Zi, it indicates an increase in the price of arrows and bows. (Zi refers to Zi mansion, which resembles the horn of an animal and connects with Shen mansion. Originally, it governs the gathering of weapons, so it relates to bows and arrows.) The Shi school says: When the moon's halo covers Shen and Ji mansions, it indicates frequent rain and frost. Wu Xian says: When the moon's halo surrounds Ji and Gui mansions, it indicates an imbalance of yin and yang in the year; another interpretation suggests it indicates drought. Jing Fang's "Commentary on the Changes" says: When the moon's halo covers Yi and Chen mansions, it indicates that the army is engaged in battle outside, and a deputy general will be lost. Xi Meng says: When the moon's halo covers Chen and Jia mansions, the side that initiates the attack will not win; if the halo expands again, it is auspicious, and if they launch another attack, soldiers will be injured or killed. Wu Xian says: When the moon's halo covers Chen and Jia mansions, the time for an amnesty will be within 120 days; another interpretation says that whenever the moon's halo covers Chen and Jia mansions in the first four months of the year, it indicates an amnesty.

《石氏占》曰：“月暈左角，有軍，軍道不能。”石氏曰：“月暈右角，大將軍有病，歲偏民飢，角鱗蟲多死。”《黃帝占》曰：“月暈圍兩角，大水，期一年。”《石氏占》曰：“月角中而暈，王者喜。”石氏曰：“日暈左右角，大赦；暈一角，小赦；早乙為春，丙丁為夏，庚辛為秋，壬癸為冬。”

The Shi school says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Left Angle star, there will be military movements, and the roads for marching troops will be impassable. (The Angle mansion has two stars, the southern one is called the Left Angle, and the northern one is called the Right Angle; the area between the two stars is called 'Heaven's Gate'; the Left Angle relates to legal affairs, and the Right Angle relates to generals.) The Shi school also says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Right Angle star, the Grand General will fall ill, the harvest will be uneven and the people will suffer from famine, and there will be a large number of death among creatures with horns and scales. The Yellow Emperor's divination says: When the moon surrounds both the Left and Right Angle stars, there will be a great flood, and the occurrence will be within one year. The Shi school says: When the moon is in the Angle mansion and produces a halo, it indicates the king's joy and celebration. The Shi school also says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over both the Left and Right Angle stars, there will be a great amnesty; if only one of the stars is covered, there will be a minor amnesty; the calculation of the time of occurrence falls on the days of Jia and Yi for spring, Bing and Ding for summer, Geng and Xin for autumn, and Ren and Gui for winter. (The original text here mistakenly writes 'sun' instead of 'moon' and 'early Yi' instead of 'Jia and Yi'.)

巫咸曰：“月暈角亢，有角蟲多死，天下士卒死；及角中央，王自將兵，不行百里，士遁亡，軍道不通；及右角，害大尉；及左角，獄大亂。”（後魏書曰：天興五年十月戊申，暈左角，時帝討姚興弟，平於乾闢，克之太史令姚崇奏；角蟲野死，上慮牛疾，乃命減諸輜玄。甲戊車駕北引，牛大疾，死者十八，自宮車所馭釐轄數百，同日斃於路側，尾相屬亦多死之徵也。）

Wu Xian said: When the moon's halo covers the Horn mansion and the Neck mansion, it indicates a large number of horned animals will die, and soldiers throughout the land will suffer casualties. If the halo reaches the central area between the two horns, the king will personally lead the army, but will not march more than a hundred li, and the soldiers will scatter, making the route of march impassable. If the halo reaches the right horn, the Grand Minister will suffer harm. If it reaches the left horn, there will be great disorder in the judicial system. (The original note cites the "Book of Later Wei": In the fifth year of Tianxing, in the tenth month, on the day of Wushen, there was a lunar halo over the left horn. At that time, Dao Wu Emperor was attacking the younger brother of Houqin Yao Xing, Yao Ping, and had surrounded him at Chai Bi and captured him. The official historian reported that horned animals would die suddenly in the wild. The emperor was worried about cattle disease and ordered the reduction of the transport vehicles in various places. On the day of Jiaxu, the imperial carriage returned north, and indeed, many cattle fell ill and died, with eight-tenths dying. Even the hundreds of carts used by the imperial carriage were found dead by the roadside on the same day, their bodies connected end to end, which was the fulfillment of the prophecy of "many deaths." The names of people, places, and the heavenly stems in this note have many errors in the original text.)

《海中占》曰：“月暈角亢歲，民飢。”陳卓曰：“月暈角，大將有殃。”郗萌曰：“月暈角，有兵，百日罷，無兵，後百日起；又曰先起兵者，不勝；又曰暈右角，右將軍有殃；暈左角，左將軍有殃；又曰暈右角，臣倍主；暈左角，大臣謀，期三年。暈天門，十月、十二月諸侯有不通者；又曰乘若暈角，為水；又曰多風雨。”

The Sea of Divination says: If the moon's halo covers the Horn mansion and the Neck mansion, it indicates a poor harvest and people suffering from hunger. Chen Zhu says: If the moon's halo covers the Horn mansion, it signifies disaster for a general. Xi Meng says: If the moon's halo covers the Horn mansion, if there is already warfare, armies will cease within a hundred days; if there is no warfare yet, warfare will begin within a hundred days; also saying that the side which initiates the attack will not win; also saying that if the halo covers the right Horn, the right general will suffer disaster; if the halo covers the left Horn, the left general will suffer disaster; also saying that if the halo covers the right Horn, it indicates ministers rebelling against the sovereign; if the halo covers the left Horn, it indicates ministers plotting against the sovereign, with the event occurring in three years. If the halo covers the 'Heaven Gate' between the left and right Horns, it indicates that in the tenth and twelfth months, there will be a disruption in the diplomatic visits among feudal lords; also saying that if the moon body invades the Horn mansion or if there is a halo covering the Horn mansion, it indicates water disaster; also saying that there will be much wind and rain.

《荊州占》曰：“月暈圍左右角，天下有大兵，天子為軍自守，左右動搖非常，人主憂，臣弒君。”《荊州占》曰：“月以正月暈角，公子死；一曰將軍死，歲飢；又曰以正月十七日，月暈於角，天下赦；正月戊己，暈左角，有喪。”

The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the moon's halo surrounds the left and right horns, it indicates there will be large-scale military conflicts throughout the realm, the Son of Heaven will mobilize troops for self-defense, the close ministers will be unsettled and behave abnormally, the ruler will be anxious and fearful, and there may even be a case of a minister killing the sovereign. The *Jingzhou Divination* also says: When the moon produces a halo and covers the Horn mansion in the first lunar month, it signifies the death of a prince; another interpretation says it indicates the death of a general, a poor harvest, and famine; it also says that on the seventeenth day of the first lunar month, if the moon's halo covers the Horn mansion, it foretells a great amnesty throughout the realm; and if on the戊 or己 days of the first lunar month the moon's halo covers the left horn, it indicates there will be mourning.

《河圖帝覽嬉》曰：“月行天門，暈三重，天清淨，關梁不通，應之以善事。”（晉咸和三年，月暈左角，有赤白珥，禮約以問戴洋，洋曰：壹門當大戰，有賊亂。洋字國流，吳國人，頗識天文陰陽之數，約為豫州，洋為督護，約本胡後，洋遍遊公侯之門，莫不說重其所占候，並多神驗，事見晉史也。）

The *Yellow River Chart* says: When the moon passes through the "Heavenly Gate" between the left and right horns of the constellation, three layers of halos appear, and the sky is clear and pure, indicating that roads and bridges will be blocked, and good governance is needed to resolve the situation. (Commentary: In the third year of Xianhe during the reign of Emperor Cheng of Jin, the moon formed a halo on the left horn, with red and white colored ear-like clouds beside it. Zu Yuo consulted Dai Yang about this event. Dai Yang said: The Heavenly Gate will have a great battle, and there will be bandits causing disturbances. Dai Yang, whose name was Guoliu, was from Wujun and was well-versed in astronomical and yin-yang calculations. At that time, Zu Yuo served as the governor of Yu State, and Dai Yang was his supervisor. Dai Yang visited the gates of all the dukes and was highly respected for his divination skills, with many instances verified as accurate. This is recorded in the history books of the Jin dynasty. In this commentary, the term "Heavenly Gate" is mistakenly written as "One Gate," and the last sentence "Yue was originally the son of the Hu chieftain" has some missing text.)

甘氏曰：“月入角而暈，大赦；不則日蝕，所蝕之宿，其邦不安。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈左角，天子為軍自守；暈兩角，有軍，軍道不通，大龍見。”

The Gan school says: When the moon enters the Horn mansion and a halo appears around it, it indicates a great amnesty; otherwise, an eclipse of the sun will occur, and the country corresponding to the zodiac sign where the eclipse occurs will not be at peace. The "Imperial Leisure" states: If the moon's halo covers the left horn mansion, it signifies the emperor gathering troops for self-defense; if the halo covers both the left and right horn mansions, it indicates military movements with blocked roads and the appearance of a great dragon as an omen.

The Shi school says: When the moon's halo surrounds the mansion of the Neck (Kang Xu), it indicates that the sovereign will face military conflicts. In the short term, within thirty days, and in the long term, within three months. (The mansion of the Neck is the inner court of the Son of Heaven, governing epidemics and legal punishments.) The Shi school says: In autumn, if the moon produces three halos in one day and they envelop the mansion of the Neck, it indicates that ministers will die, and the army will engage in a great battle on water, with an expected event in thirty-eight days; if two halos are produced, it indicates heavy rain and snow, and flooding. Xi Meng says: When the moon's halo envelops the mansion of the Neck, if there is already warfare, peace will be restored within eighty days; if there is no warfare yet, warfare will begin within eighty days; if the moon produces two halos enveloping the mansion of the Neck twice in the three months of autumn, it indicates that the people will migrate thousands of miles; if it happens three times, it indicates an amnesty; if the moon produces two halos enveloping the mansion of the Neck twice within one month of autumn, thunder and flooding will occur in winter; if it happens three times, it indicates the death of ministers, or alternatively, three major battles; if the moon produces a halo enveloping the mansion of the Neck in winter, it indicates that there will be unrest in the year, which must be resolved by an amnesty.

《荊州占》曰：“月暈圍亢，王者自將，兵不過百里，期一月，遠三月。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈亢，主自將兵，不行百里。”《海中占》曰：“月暈角亢，歲凶民飢。”《石氏占》曰：“月暈亢者，角蟲多死。”

The book Zhongjiao Zhan says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo around the mansion of the neck, the king will personally lead his troops, and the army will march no more than a hundred li. The book Dili Xian says: When the moon is covered by a halo around the mansion of the neck, the ruler will personally lead his troops, but they will not advance more than a hundred li before returning. The book Hai Zhong Zhan says: When the moon is covered by a halo around the mansion of the horn and the mansion of the neck, it indicates a bad harvest and famine among the people. The book Shi Shi Zhan says: When the moon is covered by a halo around the mansion of the neck, there will be a large number of deaths among the horned creatures.

《郗萌占》曰：“日暈氐，人多疾，以十一月、十二月暈左，天子有不安，以赦解之。”郗萌曰：“月暈圍氐，不出四十日，有治道之事。”《河圖帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈氐，大將誅，若水蟲多死。”

Xi Meng said: A lunar halo surrounding the Root Mansion indicates many people will fall ill; if the halo is on the left side during the eleventh and twelfth months, it signifies the emperor will have troubles, which must be resolved by pardons. (The Root Mansion is the main hall of the emperor's private residence, governing the empresses and epidemics; the original text mistakenly wrote 'sun' instead of 'moon' here.) Xi Meng said: A lunar halo surrounding the Root Mansion will result in road construction within forty days. The River Chart Emperor's Marvels says: A lunar halo surrounding the Root Mansion indicates a general will be executed or a large number of aquatic creatures will die.

《河圖帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈房，行三軍而戰。”郗萌曰：“月暈房，太子座之，若財寶出，若穀貴；又曰月以三冬暈房，天子有所不安，以赦解之。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈，圍房四方，兵起野，有露骨不葬。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈，圍房心，其地大疫，水蟲多死。”《易緯是類謀》曰：“月珥指房，四方煩，若以土之功。”

The *Yellow River Chart: The Emperor's Delight and Play* says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Room Mansion, it indicates the mobilization of the army and the outbreak of war. (The Room Mansion consists of four stars, which are the Bright Hall of the Son of Heaven, also known as the Heavenly Chariot, governing the royal chariot and the issuance of decrees.) Xi Meng says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Room Mansion, it indicates that the crown prince will bear the corresponding consequences, or that wealth will scatter outward, or that grain prices will rise sharply. He also says that when the moon produces a halo during the three winter months, it indicates that the Son of Heaven will have troubles, and赦免 (pardon) will be needed to resolve them. The *Jingzhou Divination* says: When the moon produces a halo surrounding the four stars of the Room Mansion, it indicates that war will break out in the outskirts, with exposed corpses that cannot be buried. The *Jingzhou Divination* also says: When the moon produces a halo surrounding the Room Mansion and the Heart Mansion, it indicates that a large outbreak of plague will occur in this region, and a great number of aquatic insects will die. The *Yi Wei Shi Leimou* says: When the lunar halo points toward the Room Mansion, it indicates disturbances in all directions, or the commencement of large-scale construction projects.

The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the moon halo surrounds the Heart Mansion, the sovereign will have worries (the original text mistakenly writes 'sun' instead of 'moon' here); another interpretation suggests the death of generals; another suggests military campaigns; another says if there is already warfare, the army will cease within thirty days; if there is no warfare yet, warfare will begin within thirty days; another says if the moon produces a halo surrounding the Heart Mansion in the first month, the silkworms will not form cocoons; if the halo surrounds the Heart Mansion, there will be changes in the generals, and the death of the sovereign; another says there will be a vast area of scorched land (the original text mistakenly writes 'earth' instead of 'li'). The Shi school says: When the moon halo surrounds the Heart Mansion, grain prices will rise sharply. The "Imperial Amusement" says: When the moon halo surrounds the Heart Mansion, disaster will occur within the same year, with a great fire.

郗萌曰：“月暈心，三日不陰不雨，不出三日，有大喪；又曰三日不風雨，不出三十日，有奇令。”石氏曰：“月一歲再暈，圍心；有大旱及大火，其將舉兵起；若國易相，期三年。”郗萌曰：“月暈心五重，其國女主死；再重，為有大喜。”《海中占》曰：“月暈圍心，中有赤雲，若白雲，大如杵，而貫月，大人當之，不然兵起。”郗萌曰：“月暈心三重，赤雲貫之，此謂之守，國破，喪戮侯王。”

Xi Meng said: If the moon's halo surrounds the Heart Mansion, and there is no rain or clouds for the next three days, then within three days there will be a great calamity. He also said that if there is no wind or rain for three days, then within thirty days there will be an extraordinary imperial decree. The Shi school said: If the moon forms a halo around the Heart Mansion twice within a year, it indicates a great drought and fire, and the generals of the region will raise an army; or the country will replace its prime minister, with the fulfillment occurring within three years. Xi Meng said: If the moon's halo surrounds the Heart Mansion up to five layers, it indicates the death of the female sovereign; if only two layers, it indicates great joy and celebration. The "Sea Divination" says: If the moon's halo surrounds the Heart Mansion, and within the halo there are red or white clouds, large as a wooden mallet and crossing the moon's body, it indicates that a great person will bear this calamity, or that military conflict will arise. Xi Meng said: If the moon's halo surrounds the Heart Mansion three layers, and there are red clouds passing through it, this is called "guarding," indicating the collapse of the state and the death and massacre of princes and kings.

《東觀占》曰：“月暈尾，有益地者百里以上；又曰民多病寒熱；又曰風大至，若水。”石氏曰：“月暈尾，益地。”郗萌曰：“月暈天司空，其歲不登，有大水，在東方；又曰不出其年，有赦。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈圍尾，有益地者，百里以上；又曰民病寒熱，又曰大風至。”

The Dongguan Divination says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Tail mansion, there will be a feudal lord who expands his territory, gaining more than a hundred li; it also says that the people will suffer from many cases of cold and fever; it also says that a great wind will come, or there may be water disasters. (The Tail mansion has nine stars, representing the tail of the Azure Dragon, and also symbolizing the concubines of the imperial harem.) The Shi school says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Tail mansion, it indicates expansion of territory. Xi Meng says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the star Tian Sikong, it indicates that the crops of the year will not mature, there will be great floods, and the disaster will occur in the east; it also cannot predict that there will be a pardon that year. The Jingzhou Divination says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Tail mansion, there will be a feudal lord who expands his territory, gaining more than a hundred li; it also says that the people will suffer from many cases of cold and fever; it also says that a great wind will come.

石氏曰：“月暈箕，五穀以風傷。”郗萌曰：“月暈司空，不出百里，必有守倉求食者，以千數。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈箕，大風發屋。有坐口舌死者。非夷穀貴，燕趙大飢。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈箕，歲星在其中，王者娉皇后、貴妾，不出百八十日。”

The Shi school says: When the moon halo covers the Winnowing Basket mansion, it indicates that the five grains will be damaged by a great wind. (The Winnowing Basket mansion consists of four stars, which govern the winds in all eight directions, and also govern disputes. Its territory is in the area of Yan.) Xi Meng says: When the moon halo covers the 'Sikong' star, within a hundred li, there will certainly be hungry people surrounding granaries to beg for food, with thousands of people. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the moon halo covers the Winnowing Basket mansion, it indicates that a great wind will overturn roofs, and some people will be put to death due to disputes. In the regions beyond the four barbarians, grain prices will soar, and there will be a great famine in Yan and Zhao. (This passage's 'fei yi' should be a mistake for 'si yi'.) The "Jingzhou Divination" also says: When the moon halo covers the Winnowing Basket mansion, and the planet of years is within the halo, it indicates that the king will marry a queen or a noble concubine, within 180 days.

郗萌曰：“月暈南斗，大將死，民流千里，馬牛大病。”陳卓曰：“月暈南斗，大臣免，大將為亂，五穀不成。”《河圖帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈南斗，大將出。”

Xi Meng said: When the moon halo covers the Southern Dipper, it indicates the death of a general, the migration of people over a thousand miles, and a large number of horses and cattle falling ill. (The Southern Dipper refers to the six stars of the Dipper mansion, shaped like a ladle used for pouring wine, and is considered the celestial temple, governing rank, honor, and lifespan. It shares the domain of life and death with the Northern Dipper, and its territory corresponds to Wu and Yue.) Chen Zhu said: When the moon halo covers the Southern Dipper, it indicates the dismissal of high officials, a general raising an army in rebellion, and the failure of crops to mature. The "Yellow River Chart: Emperor's Marvelous View" said: When the moon halo covers the Southern Dipper, it indicates a general leading troops on a military campaign.

郗萌曰：“月暈乘牽牛，五穀不成。”《黃帝占》曰：“月暈牛，有軍曝血，將死。”《黃帝占》曰：“月暈牛，小兒多死，牛疫死；一曰馬多疫死。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈牛，牛羊貴。”

Xi Meng said: When the moon produces a halo and appears to cover the Cow Mansion, it indicates that the five grains will not mature. (The Cow Mansion refers to the six stars of the Cow Mansion, which governs sacrificial cattle, livestock, and matters concerning borders, bridges, and roads.) The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: When the moon's halo covers the Cow Mansion, there will be military casualties with corpses lying around and bloodshed, and generals will die in battle. The Yellow Emperor's Divination also says: When the moon's halo covers the Cow Mansion, there will be a large number of child deaths and cattle dying from plague; another interpretation suggests that many horses will die from disease. The Jingzhou Divination says: When the moon's halo covers the Cow Mansion, cattle and sheep will become expensive.

《河圖帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈須女，必有軍曝血，將死。”郗萌曰：“月暈須女，寡婦多疾。有兵謀，謀不成。風起。”石氏曰：“月暈圍須女，兵進而不斗；一曰兵不戰而降，寡婦多死，有兵謀謀不成，風起。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈須女，布帛倍價。”《河圖帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈須女，兵起不斗；一曰民多去室宅；一曰絲貴。”

The Yellow River Chart says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Girl Mansion, there will certainly be corpses of soldiers lying around with blood flowing, and the general will die in battle. (The Girl Mansion refers to the four stars of the Girl Mansion, which are the heavenly maiden, governing the cutting and sewing of cloth and marriage affairs.) Xi Meng says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Girl Mansion, there will be many sick widows, and there will be plots for military action which will not succeed, with a sudden strong wind. The Shi school says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Girl Mansion, the army will march out without fighting; another interpretation says the army will surrender without fighting, many widows will die, there will be plots for military action which will not succeed, and a sudden strong wind will arise. The Jingzhou Divination says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Girl Mansion, the price of cloth will double. The Yellow River Chart also says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Girl Mansion, there will be military action without fighting; another interpretation says there will be a large number of people abandoning their houses; yet another says there will be a rise in the price of silk.

《黃帝占》曰：“月暈虛，兵起，大戰。”《郗萌占》曰：“月暈虛，民飢，有哭泣，蟄蟲死；一曰飛蟲多死；又曰兵起，月土功事。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈虛，有白衣聚，遠期百八十日；又曰宗廟動兵。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈虛，民多去室宅者。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: When the moon halo covers the Emptiness mansion, there will be military action and great battles. (The Emptiness mansion has two stars, which govern ancestral temples and worship, as well as mourning and funerals; its territory corresponds to the state of Qi.) Xi Meng's Divination says: When the moon halo covers the Emptiness mansion, there will be widespread famine among the people, with cries of mourning and the death of hibernating insects; another account says there will be a large number of flying insects dying; it also says there will be military action, and construction work involving earth and wood. The Jingzhou Divination says: When the moon halo covers the Emptiness mansion, there will be a gathering of people wearing white clothes mourning and carrying out funerary rites, with the event occurring within a period of one hundred and eighty days; it also says there will be military conflict at the site of ancestral temples. The Di Lian Xi says: When the moon halo covers the Emptiness mansion, there will be a large number of people abandoning their homes and dwellings.

《黃帝占》曰：“月暈危，有兵；一曰軍敗。”郗萌曰：“月暈危，其國主死，民多疾死，有兵謀，不成。”《荊州占》曰：“日暈危，有亂，謀天下，擾民，無所措。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈危，軍所止，民多去宅者。”郗萌曰：“月正月暈危，民去室宅。”

The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: When the moon's halo covers the star Wei Xu, there will be military affairs; another interpretation suggests it indicates the defeat of the army. (The star Wei Xu consists of three stars, governing the Treasury star, the Heavenly Market, and matters of building houses and roofs.) Xi Meng says: When the moon's halo covers the star Wei Xu, it indicates the death of the ruler of the corresponding region, many people falling ill and dying, and plots for military action that fail. The Jingzhou Divination says: When the moon's halo covers the star Wei Xu, there will be chaos, someone plotting to take over the world, disturbing the people, and causing people to be at a loss. (The original text here mistakenly writes 'sun' instead of 'moon'.) The Di Lian Xi says: When the moon's halo covers the star Wei Xu, the army will be stationed without advancing, and many people will abandon their homes. Xi Meng says: When the moon produces a halo in the first month and covers the star Wei Xu, it indicates that the people will abandon their houses.

《海中占》曰：“月暈室，大城圍屠。”郗萌曰：“月暈營室，為宮敗；又曰有蠻夷來。”《荊州占》曰：“月常以四月、七月、十月侯月，月暈玄宮，不出六十日，必有妄言驚聚百姓者；不然，不出九十日，天下有急事。”《帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈室，有喪。”

The Sea of the Sea Divination says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Encampment mansion, it indicates a great city being besieged and slaughtered. (The Encampment mansion refers to the two stars of the constellation Encampment, which is the palace of the Son of Heaven, governing earth and wood construction, and its territory corresponds to the state of Wei.) Xi Meng says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Encampment mansion, it indicates the destruction of palaces; also indicating that there will be foreign tribes entering the country. The Jingzhou Divination says: One should frequently observe the moon's appearance in the fourth, seventh, and tenth months. If the moon is surrounded by a halo over the "Black Palace" — another name for the Encampment mansion — and this does not occur within sixty days, there will certainly be people spreading false rumors and causing panic among the people; otherwise, within ninety days, there will be urgent events throughout the land. The Emperor's Enjoyment says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Encampment mansion, it indicates there will be mourning.

(The two stars of the eastern mansion are called East Wall, which governs literature and records, and together with the mansion of the room, they oversee earthworks; the title of this section, "Solar Halo over East Wall Seven," is a mistake for "Lunar Halo over East Wall.") The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: A lunar halo covering the eastern mansion indicates defeat among soldiers. Xi Meng says: A lunar halo covering the eastern mansion indicates the dispersal and flight of common people; another interpretation suggests the appearance of a great dragon; yet another suggests many deaths among women and children. The Jingzhou Divination says: A lunar halo covering the eastern mansion indicates great chaos; it also says that if a lunar halo covers the eastern mansion three times, it indicates the country will mobilize armies for a great battle, not exceeding one year. The Emperor's Enjoyment of Delight says: A lunar halo covering the eastern mansion, along with the appearance of a dragon-like phenomenon, indicates great defeat.

郗萌曰：“月暈奎，妖星出，大將戰死。”巫咸曰：“月暈奎。米貴。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈奎，兵大敗，土卒亡，魯國亡。”石氏曰：“月暈奎，兵大敗；一曰有兵令；一曰不出十日，妖星見。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈奎婁，絮大貴。”

Xi Meng said: A lunar halo covering the Kuixiu mansion indicates the appearance of an evil star and the death of a general. (The Kuixiu mansion consists of sixteen stars, representing the heavenly arsenal, governing military affairs and ditches, and its territory corresponds to the state of Lu.) Wu Xian said: A lunar halo covering the Kuixiu mansion indicates a rise in grain prices. The "Jingzhou Divination" said: A lunar halo covering the Kuixiu mansion indicates a great defeat of the army, heavy casualties among soldiers, and the fall of the state of Lu. (The original text mistakenly writes 'soldiers' as 'earth soldiers'.) The Shi school said: A lunar halo covering the Kuixiu mansion indicates a great defeat of the army; another interpretation suggests an order for conscription; yet another suggests that an evil star will appear within ten days. The "Jingzhou Divination" said: A lunar halo covering both the Kuixiu and Loushou mansions indicates a significant increase in the price of silk and cotton.

郗萌曰：“月暈婁，大人憂；一曰大人死；一曰蠶多死；糴苦，絮貴。四孟之月，暈，赦。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈婁，五日之內不雨，宰相疑，默事解。”郗萌曰：“月暈婁，盡圍三星，赦；若歲星過婁，在暈中大赦；期九十日。”《河圖帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈回婁，君和解。”

Xi Meng said: A lunar halo surrounding Lou Xu indicates sorrow for a great person; another interpretation suggests the death of a great person; yet another suggests many silkworms dying and high prices for rice, silk, and cotton. If the halo appears in the first month of the four beginning months, it indicates amnesty. (Lou Xu consists of three stars, governing the royal park, livestock, and gatherings.) The "Jingzhou Divination" says: A lunar halo surrounding Lou Xu indicates that rain will not fall within five days, leading to suspicion of the prime minister, who must remain silent and endure to be relieved. Xi Meng said: A lunar halo surrounding Lou Xu, enclosing all three stars of Lou Xu within the halo, indicates amnesty; if the star of the year happens to pass through Lou Xu and is within the halo, it indicates a great amnesty, with the expected time being ninety days. The "Yellow River Chart Emperor's Tour" says: A lunar halo circling Lou Xu indicates harmony between the sovereign and ministers, resolving disputes.

郗萌曰：“月暈胃，其國主死，天多陰雨，妊婦多死；一曰山崩；又曰盡圍三星，赦。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈圍胃，兵起，其國戰不勝，有破軍；一曰不戰山崩，若軍大歸，谷大貴。”郗萌曰：“月以四孟之月，三、四暈胃，赦。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈圍胃，兵大戰；一曰妊女多死。”《河圖帝覽嬉》曰：“月暈回胃，兵不戰。”

Xi Meng said: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the Stomach mansion, it indicates the death of the ruler of the corresponding region, frequent rainy weather, and many deaths among pregnant women; another interpretation suggests mountain collapses. It also says that if all three stars of the Stomach mansion are enclosed within the halo, it indicates a pardon. (The three stars of the Stomach mansion are heavenly granaries, governing the accumulation of grain.) The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the Stomach mansion, it indicates military action, with the country's army failing to win and suffering defeat; another interpretation suggests no battle but mountain collapses, or a large army returning home and grain prices rising sharply. Xi Meng said: If the moon produces a halo three or four times in the first four months, it indicates a pardon. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the Stomach mansion, it indicates large-scale warfare; another interpretation suggests many deaths among pregnant women. The "Yellow River Chart Emperor's Tour" says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo circling the Stomach mansion, it indicates that two armies do not engage in battle.

《荊州占》曰：“月暈昴，其國主死；一曰貴人多死；一曰有兵，若暴令，近期三十日，遠百里坐流言者；又曰不出其年，天下有變；又曰水，無收，糴貴，民離其鄉；又曰有腹病，畜產多死。”《荊州占》曰：“月暈昴，開下飢。”京氏曰：“月以九月、十二月、十三日暈昴及五年，天下赦。”郗萌曰：“月暈昴，以甲午乙未及戊巳，必大赦，期三日；戊巳期六十日。”

The book "Jingzhou Divination" says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering the mansion of Maoshu, it indicates the death of the ruler of the region associated with that mansion; another interpretation suggests many high-ranking people will die; yet another suggests there will be military conflicts or severe and harsh imperial edicts, with someone within thirty days and up to a hundred miles away being condemned due to rumors; another says there will be a change in the world that year; another says there will be floods, crop failures, high grain prices, and people fleeing their homes; another says there will be illness in the people's stomachs and a large number of livestock dying. (Maoshu consists of seven stars, also known as Maotou, which is the star of the Hu people, governing punishments and funerals.) The book "Jingzhou Divination" also says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering Maoshu, it indicates a famine across the country. Xi Meng says: When the moon is surrounded by a halo covering Maoshu, if it occurs on Jiawu or Yiwei days, there will definitely be a major pardon, with the effect happening within three days; if it occurs on Wu or Ji days, the effect will happen within sixty days.

The Shi school said: When the moon's halo surrounds the Hairy Head mansion, it indicates a great famine; another interpretation says it indicates many high-ranking people dying; yet another says it indicates a sharp rise in rice prices. Xi Meng said: When the moon's halo surrounds the Hairy Head mansion multiple times, up to three times, an amnesty will be issued within fifty days. Wu Xian said: When the moon's halo surrounds the Hairy Head mansion, it indicates that grain will not run out; another interpretation says it indicates a large number of rabbits dying. The Shi school said: When the moon surrounds the Hairy Head mansion three times within a year, it indicates a great amnesty in the following year, or a sharp rise in the prices of bows, arrows, and silk. The "Xi Meng Divination" said: When the moon's halo surrounds the Hairy Head mansion, it indicates that the common people will be anxious about illness; another interpretation says that if a halo appears once within a year, it indicates a minor amnesty; twice, a medium amnesty; three times, a major amnesty; and the predicted time does not exceed the same year.

(The Net mansion consists of eight stars, shaped like a long net used for catching rabbits, governing border troops and hunting, as well as rain.) The "Jingzhou Divination" said: If the moon is surrounded by a halo over the Net mansion, it indicates a great amnesty, which will occur within thirty days. The "Xi Meng Divination" said: If the moon enters the Net mansion and forms a halo, it indicates the ruler will bear the consequence; another interpretation suggests the ruler will be replaced. Jing Fang's "Response to Omens and Abnormalities" said: If the moon forms a halo three times over the Net mansion, it indicates that the capital and all the regions will be pardoned. The "Xi Meng Divination" said: If the moon forms a halo approaching the Net mansion from in front of its two horns without touching the star at its root, it indicates an amnesty will be issued in the fourth month.

Xi Meng says: When the moon's halo covers Zi and Zui, it indicates the issuance of virtuous government orders, and many women will suffer from illness. The book Jingzhou Zhan also says: When the moon's halo covers Zi and Zui, it indicates a great amnesty, and the period of occurrence is thirty days. The book He Tu Di Lan Xi says: When the moon's halo circles around Zi and Zui, it indicates many deaths on the roads and the death of a great general; another interpretation says it indicates an increase in the price of bows and arrows.

The "Jingzhou Divination" says: If the moon's halo covers the Three Stars mansion, it indicates that the invading army from afar will be greatly frightened and unable to achieve victory. Xi Meng said: If the moon's halo covers the top three stars of the Three Stars mansion, it signifies a pardon, which will occur within twenty days; another interpretation says that if the halo surrounds two stars, it signifies a minor pardon; if it surrounds three stars, it signifies a major pardon; the timing of the pardon is determined by the day when the moon and the mansion are in opposition. The Shi school said: If the moon's halo covers the Faval star, it signifies the death of a general and the execution of a prominent person. Jing Fang's "Yi Fei Hou" said: If the moon's halo covers the Three Stars mansion, if there is already warfare, battle will ensue; if there is no military action, there will be three instances of construction projects within the year.

The Shi school said: When the moon halo covers the Three Stars mansion, it indicates that the army will not be victorious; if the halo has already formed a complete circle but is then scattered by clouds, it indicates a great military conflict occurring outside the country. The "Jingzhou Divination" said: When the moon halo covers the star of the Axe, there will be military conflicts within 210 days; if there is an amnesty, there will be a decree of good governance, and it will rain within five days. Xi Meng said: When the moon produces a halo covering the Three Stars mansion in the first, eleventh, or twelfth month, it indicates that the year will be disastrous, with tigers and wolves appearing in groups and harming the people. The Gan school said: When the moon produces a halo covering the star of the Axe in the first month, and the halo does not appear again for the next two nights, it indicates that military conflicts will arise within thirty days.
