The Five Princes are represented by the five planets located north of the East Well (东井), symbolizing the vassal states outside the central kingdom. The "Spring and Autumn Writings" (春秋纬) state: If a comet appears in the region of the Five Princes, the governors of the states will rebel, and the officials in charge of the nine provinces will conspire to cause chaos. The "Jade Calendar" (玉历) says: If a comet appears in the region of the Five Princes, the ministers in power may have sinister intentions, or someone may be executed. The calamity will fall upon the powerful, the sovereign will have worries, and the event will be fulfilled within one year if it is near, or within two years if it is distant. (The following is a note from the original text:司马彪's "Continued Book of Han: Records of Celestial Phenomena" records that in the 17th year of the Jian'an era of Emperor Xian of Han, there was a long-tailed star appearing in the region of the Five Princes. At that time, Zhou Qun believed that those who controlled territories in the west would all perish. At that time, Liu Zhang controlled Yizhou, Zhang Lu controlled Hanzhong as its governor, Han Sui controlled Liangzhou, and Song Jian controlled Bao Han as a separate territory. In the winter of the following year, a subordinate general of Cao Gong attacked Liangzhou. In the 19th year of Jian'an, Song Jian was captured, Han Sui fled to the Qiang people's territory and died of illness. In the same year, autumn, Liu Zhang lost Yizhou. In the autumn of the 20th year, Cao Gong attacked Hanzhong, and Zhang Lu surrendered.)
A comet and a meteor invade the accumulation of water, forty-one times.
The Shi school says: A comet attacking 'Accumulated Water' indicates military calamity originating from within the palace gate, the ancestral temple being destroyed and worship discontinued, with ministers facing troubles. The star 'Accumulated Water' is located in the northwest of the Northern River, originally governing wine making and the water used for sacrifices. Therefore, when a comet attacks it, the verification is related to the ancestral temple and its rituals.
A comet and a meteor strike a pile of firewood, forty-two times.
The Shi school says: A comet or meteorite conflicting with the star 'Accumulated Firewood' indicates a rebellious minister lurking within the ancestral temple. The star Accumulated Firewood lies to the east of the Accumulated Water, which presides over the supply of firewood for cooking and worship. It corresponds with Accumulated Water in matters concerning the ancestral temple.
A comet and a meteor invade the water position, forty-three times.
The Shi school says: comets and孛 stars conflicting with the 'water position' indicate that water routes are blocked, with hidden troops concealed in the water, using water to create calamity. The four stars of the water position are located east of the Well mansion, governing water affairs. The Gan school says: when comets and孛 stars appear at the water position, the whole country worries about water disasters, and wars break out, with the five grains failing to mature, causing hunger among the people.
A comet and a meteor invade the region of Xuanyan, occurring forty-four times.
The Shi school says: A comet or meteor striking the position of Xuanyan indicates that the monarch's close ministers will be executed, the royal family will suffer destruction, and the sovereign should issue an amnesty to eliminate calamity. Xuanyan consists of seventeen stars located north of the Seven Stars, resembling the body of a yellow dragon, and it governs matters concerning the empress and her relatives. The Yellow Emperor says: If a comet appears in Xuanyan, the empress will face misfortune or lose power, the court will be in turmoil, and the monarch will also face worries. The Spring Book of Divination says: If a comet enters Xuanyan, the royal family will rebel. The Book of the Movement of the Pole Star says: If a comet appears in Xuanyan, the concubines will cause harm as if they were enemies. The Shi school says: If a comet invades Xuanyan, the whole country will be in chaos, and the ruler will be replaced. The color of the comet—green, red, yellow, white, or black—can be used to determine the time of the event. The Yellow Emperor's Divination says: If a comet enters Xuanyan or stays there, the country will be in chaos, the ruler will be replaced, the palace gates should be closed, or a female ruler will die. This will be fulfilled within three years, or possibly within five years.

The Shi school said: A comet or孛 star conflicting with the constellation 「Shao Wei」 indicates that unappointed commoners will gather together, bringing about calamity. Sages and experts in esoteric arts will not rise to prominence, and those with wisdom will flee. This will be fulfilled within three years. The four stars of Shao Wei are located in the southwest of Tai Wei垣, representing hermits and officials of the scholar-official class. Wu Xian said: If a comet appears in Shao Wei, there will be many talented ministers who die, or high-ranking officials will be punished. Another interpretation is that officials responsible for legal matters will be executed. The Shi school said: If a comet appears in Shao Wei, scholars will rise to participate in government affairs. The "Song Shu · Tianwen Zhi" states: In the sixth year of Emperor Wen of Wei's Huangchu period, on the tenth month, on the day Yiwei, a孛 star appeared in Shao Wei and passed over Xuan Yuan. The divination text says:孛 stars and comets presage mourning, symbolizing the removal of the old and the establishment of the new. At that time, Emperor Wen of Wei was stationed at Guangling, and on the days of Xin and Ren, he personally wore armor and inspected his troops on horseback. The Spring and Autumn Writings say: A comet, accompanied by a chaotic aura, sweeps and invades the "Taiwei" constellation, indicating the ruler's loss of virtue and the emergence of chaos. The Taiwei constellation represents the southern palace court of the Son of Heaven, with the seats of the Five Emperors and the Three Excellencies and Nine Ministers arranged within it. Chen Zhu said: If a comet sweeps and invades the Taiwei, the royal family and the maternal relatives will rebel, leading to the collapse of the state; another view is that the person associated with the star that is invaded will perish. The Sacred Harmony Symbol says: If a comet enters the courtyard of the Taiwei, ministers will plot against the sovereign, wars will arise, the sovereign will cause disaster to the state, and the country will face calamity, which will be fulfilled within 180 days or within a year. Xi Meng said: A red-yellow star, shaped like a broom, entering the Taiwei brings joy to women; when it leaves the Taiwei, the Son of Heaven will reward the feudal lords with beautiful women. The Spring and Autumn Writings say: If a comet appears and invades the judicial star, the censors will rebel. The Movement of the Pole Star says: If a comet or a chaotic star invades the Taiwei, the laws and regulations will be destroyed, and the emperor will die in the fields. The Spring and Autumn Writings say: If a comet appears and sweeps the Taiwei, chaos will spread throughout the land, but within three or five years, the government will definitely change, and the time of change can be determined by the color of the comet.

In the annotations, Sima Biao's "Continued Book of Han: Records of Celestial Phenomena" states that in the fifth year of Guanghe during the reign of Emperor Ling of Han, a comet appeared in the Xiatai star, moving toward the southeast and entering the Taimei enclosure, until it reached the Prince Star and the Favorite Minister Star, disappearing after more than twenty days. A comet entering Taimei indicates a change of sovereigns throughout the realm; in the sixth year of Zhongping, Emperor Ling died. In the twenty-third year of Jian'an during the reign of Emperor Xian of Han, a comet appeared in the east in the morning, and after more than twenty days, it appeared again in the west in the evening, successively passing over Wuchē, Dongjing, Wuzhonghou, Wenwang, Xuanyuan, Houfei, Taimei, with its tail pointing directly at the Throne of the Emperor. In the first month of the twenty-fifth year of Jian'an, Wei Wen帝 accepted the mandate of heaven. The "Juyi" says: if a comet appears in Taimei, there will be rebellion by the royal family and the maternal relatives, ministers will kill the sovereign, and the conspiracy originates from the royal relatives and the attendants. The sovereign will have worries, and this will be fulfilled within three years. The Shi school says: if a comet appears in the Taimei enclosure, there will be a great fire in the palace, killing people. The Gan school says: if a comet appears in the Taimei court, there will be the enthronement of a new sovereign or the transfer of the sovereign. The "Xiaojing Chixiong Tu" says: if a comet appears in Taimei, the sovereign will harm his ministers. The "Juyi" says: if a comet invades Taimei, the emperor's concubines and empresses will leave, the palace will be in disorder, and female rulers will have worries. The term "gongche yanjia" in the annotation is a euphemism for the death of the sovereign, while "shouchan" refers to the transfer of the throne from the former dynasty to the new one.
A comet and a forked meteorite approached the seat of the Yellow Emperor, forty-seven times.
The Shi school says: comets and孛stars appear like scattered cotton, entering Taiwei, attacking and remaining at the throne of the Emperor, indicating the country will suffer a great collapse, a major mourning, and the throne must be taken over by ministers. (Original note: The Shi school says that a ruler may use an amnesty to eliminate calamity.) The world will be in great disorder, wars will arise; if the comet attacks and remains at the thrones of the four emperors, the ministers assisting the government will be executed, the ruling officials will perish, and this will be fulfilled within three years. The Shi school says: comets appearing like cotton, attacking the throne star, will bring about military calamity and mourning at the same time. It also says: a large comet with a孛-like aura sweeping across and attacking the throne star will result in the death of the ruler, and his descendants will not flourish; if the ruler follows the will of heaven and shows filial piety, reverently honoring the ancestral temples and the sacrifices at the outskirts of the capital, the calamity can be eliminated. The "Luo Writing's Explanation of Signs" says: when a comet points toward the surroundings of the throne star, great disorder will occur within the palace. The "Jingzhou Divination" says: the star's rays are sharp like a sword, entirely red, and directly reach the throne star, indicating the emperor will face disturbances from military calamity; another interpretation says: it will be disturbed by fire. It also says: the star appears like a bundle of grass tied into a broom, approaching the throne star, and the ministers nearby will rise in rebellion, causing internal strife. Chen Zhuo says: the star appears like a broom, entirely red, approaching the throne star, indicating military calamity caused by women.
A comet and a forked star invade the screen star, forty-eight times.
The Yulu says: A comet appearing in the "Screen Star" indicates that a minister responsible for guarding will have treacherous intentions, or someone will be guilty of a crime, and the punishment will fall upon the officials in charge of law enforcement. The four stars of the Screen Star are located within the end gate of the Taimei Enclosure, originally serving as a barrier to separate inside from outside. Therefore, the fulfillment of this omen will be reflected upon the officials who guard the palace and those who enforce the law.
A comet and a meteor invade the position of the Officer, indicating a period of forty-nine days.
Chen Zhuo said: A comet or meteorite conflicting with the 'Liang Wei' indicates that ministers and officials lose their power. The Liang Wei consists of fifteen stars located to the northeast of the Taiwei Yuan's Di Zuo, symbolizing the palace guards who serve the emperor. The Yun Dou Shu states: If a comet appears in the Liang Wei, the palace guards will rebel, because the Son of Heaven relies on these officials to serve as his guards. The Yu Li states: If a comet appears in the Liang Wei, the guards on either side will cause chaos, or someone will plot against the ruler, causing the monarch to be alarmed and requiring vigilance.
A comet and a forked meteor invade the position of the military commander, indicating a disaster involving fifty people.
The Yulu says: A comet appearing at "Langjiang" indicates that a general will be executed or punished, or alternatively, that ministers will rebel and warfare will arise. The star Langjiang is located north of the Lang position, and is the general who commands the Lang officials and oversees the palace guards.
A comet and a meteorite invade the ordinary constellations, totaling fifty-one.
The Gan school says: When a comet appears in or hovers over the 'Chang Chen' constellation, the sovereign should personally take action to execute the ministers who serve as guards. Another interpretation states that among those on duty, there will be deaths, which will be fulfilled within three years. The seven stars of Chang Chen are located north of the Imperial Seat, resembling the ceremonial guards of the Son of Heaven, so the fulfillment of these omens always falls upon the palace guards.
